The constant use of norecyclable material throughout the last century has become a huge pollution problem. Consequently, the development of biocompatible and biodegradable material plays an important role nowadays in this context. In order to contribute to this aim, this article is concerned with the use of photoacoustic methodologies to investigate the diffusion coefficient of CO[SUB2] and water vapors for poly-3-hydroxy octanoate which is a biodegradable and biocompatible material. In addition, a second methodology based on the paramagnetic properties of O[SUB2] molecules was also applied to investigate the diffusion coefficient of O[SUB2]. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
