This study evaluated the roles of two common sources of Fe(III)-minerals—volcanic rock (VR) and synthetic banded iron formations from waste iron tailings (BIF-W)—in vertical flow-constructed wetlands (VFCWs). The evaluation was conducted in the absence of critical environmental factors, including Fe(II), Fe(III), and soil organic matter (SOM), using metagenomic analysis and integrated correlation networks to predict nitrogen removal pathways. Our findings revealed that Fe(III)-minerals enhanced metabolic activities and cellular processes related to carbohydrate decomposition, thereby increasing the average COD removal rates by 10.7% for VR and 5.90% for BIF-W. Notably, VR improved nitrogen removal by 1.70% and 5.40% compared to BIF-W and the control, respectively. Fe(III)-mineral amendment in bioreactors also improved the retention of denitrification and nitrification bacteria (phylum Proteobacteria) and anammox bacteria (phylum Planctomycetes), with increases of 3.60% and 3.20% using VR compared to BIF-W. Metagenomic functional prediction indicated that the nitrogen removal mechanisms in VFCWs with low C/N ratios involve simultaneous partial nitrification, ANAMMOX, and denitrification (SNAD). Network-based analyses and correlation pathways further suggest that the advantages of Fe(III)-minerals are manifested in the enhancement of denitrification microorganisms. Microbial communities may be activated by the functional dissolution of Fe(III)-minerals, which improves the stability of SOM or the conversion of Fe(III)/Fe(II). This study provides new insights into the functional roles of Fe(III)-minerals in VFCWs at the microbial community level, and provides a foundation for developing Fe-based SNAD enhancement technologies. Novel natural products (NPs) and their derivatives are important sources for drug discovery, which have been broadly applied in the fields of agriculture, livestock, and medicine, making the synthesis of NPs and their derivatives necessarily important. In recent years, biosynthesis technology has received increasing attention due to its high efficiency in the synthesis of high value-added novel products and its advantages of green, environmental protection, and controllability. In this review, the technological advances of biosynthesis strategies in the discovery of novel NPs and their derivatives are outlined, with an emphasis on two areas of host engineering and in vitro enzymatic synthesis. In terms of hosts engineering, multiple microorganisms, including Streptomyces, Aspergillus, and Penicillium, have been used as the biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) provider and host strain for the expression of BGCs to discover new compounds over the past years. The rise of ride-hailing services presents innovative solutions for curbing urban carbon emissions, yet poses challenges such as fostering fair competition and integrating with public transit. Analyzing the factors influencing ride-hailing emissions is crucial for understanding their relationship with other travel modes and devising policies aimed at steering individuals towards more environmentally sustainable travel options. Therefore, this study delves into factors impacting ride-hailing emissions, including travel demand, land use, demographics, and transportation networks. It highlights the interplay among urban structure, multi-modal travel, and emissions, focusing on network features such as betweenness centrality and accessibility. Employing the COPERT (Computer Programme to Calculate Emissions from Road Transport) model, ride-hailing emissions are calculated from vehicle trajectory data. To mitigate statistical errors from multicollinearity, variable selection involves tests and correlation analysis. Geographically and temporally weighted regression (GTWR) with an adaptive kernel function is designed to understand key influencing mechanisms, overcoming traditional GTWR limitations. It can dynamically adjust bandwidth based on the spatio-temporal distribution of data points. Experiments in Shenzhen validate this approach, showing a 9.8% and 10.8% increase in explanatory power for weekday and weekend emissions, respectively, compared to conventional GTWR. Straw burning is a significant source of atmospheric pollutants, releasing particulate matter and trace gases. Capturing the characteristics of straw burning and understanding its influencing factors are important prerequisites for regulating straw burning. Based on the fire points detected by the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) in Hunan province, China, from 2010 to 2020, this study analyzed the spatiotemporal variations of straw burning and employed Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) models to investigate the underlying forces driving straw burning. The results show that the spatiotemporal characteristics of straw burning in Hunan Province can be categorized into two distinct periods: 2010 to 2014 and 2015 to 2020. The period from 2010 to 2014 witnessed a rapid increase, while the period from 2015 to 2020 experienced fluctuating decreases. The shift is closely linked to the implementation of the straw burning ban policy in 2015. Spatially, the areas with a high number of fire points are primarily located in the southern regions, especially in the border regions between Chenzhou, Yongzhou, Hengyang, and Shaoyang cities. A significant change was found in the impact of economic development and human activity factors on straw burning before and after 2015. These factors include crop yield, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and road network development. From the implementation of the straw burning ban policy, increases in GDP and settlement density will have a dampening effect on straw burning in a region. Straw burning locations may shift towards regions with relatively slow economic development. The results could serve as a foundation for decision-making to address the issue of straw burning. Galectin-3 has a variety of important pathophysiological significance in the human body. Much evidence shows that the abnormal expression of galectin-3 is related to the formation and development of many diseases. Pectin is mostly obtained from processed citrus fruits and apples and is a known natural inhibitor of galactin-3. A large number of peels produced each year are discarded, and it is necessary to recycle some of the economically valuable active compounds in these by-products to reduce resource waste and environmental pollution. By binding with galectin-3, pectin can directly reduce the expression level of galectin-3 on the one hand, and regulate the expression level of cytokines by regulating certain signaling pathways on the other hand, to achieve the effect of treating diseases. This paper begins by presenting an overview of the basic structure of pectin, subsequently followed by a description of the structure of galectin-3 and its detrimental impact on human health when expressed abnormally. The health effects of pectin as a galectin-3 inhibitor were then summarized from the perspectives of anticancer, anti-inflammatory, ameliorating fibrotic diseases, and anti-diabetes. Finally, the challenges and prospects of future research on pectin are presented, which provide important references for expanding the application of pectin in the pharmaceutical industry or developing functional dietary supplements. Introduction: Abnormal lipid metabolism, one of the hallmarks in cancer, has gradually emerged as a novel target for cancer treatment. As organelles that store and release excess lipids, lipid droplets (LDs) resemble "gears" and facilitate cancer development in the body. Aim: This review discusses the life cycle of LDs, the relationship between abnormal LDs and cancer hallmarks, and the application of LDs in theragnostic and clinical contexts to provide a contemporary understanding of the role of LDs in cancer. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed and SPORTDiscus. Retrieve and summarize clinical trials of drugs that target proteins associated with LD formation using the Clinical Trials website. Create a schematic diagram of lipid droplets in the tumor microenvironment using Adobe Illustrator. Conclusion: As one of the top ten hallmarks of cancer, abnormal lipid metabolism caused by excessive generation of LDs interrelates with other hallmarks. The crosstalk between excessive LDs and intracellular free fatty acids (FFAs) promotes an inflammatory environment that supports tumor growth. Moreover, LDs contribute to cancer metastasis and cell death resistance in vivo. Inhibiting the activity of intestinal α-glucosidase is considered an effective approach for treating type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In this study, we employed an in vitro enzymatic synthesis approach to synthesize four derivatives of natural products (NPs) for the discovery of therapeutic drugs for T2DM. Network pharmacology analysis revealed that the betulinic acid derivative P3 exerted its effects in the treatment of T2DM through multiple targets. Neuroactive ligand–receptor interaction and the calcium signaling pathway were identified as key signaling pathways involved in the therapeutic action of compound P3 in T2DM. The results of molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and binding free energy calculations indicate that compound P3 exhibits a more stable binding interaction and lower binding energy (−41.237 kcal/mol) with α-glucosidase compared to acarbose. In addition, compound P3 demonstrates excellent characteristics in various pharmacokinetic prediction models. Therefore, P3 holds promise as a lead compound for the development of drugs for T2DM and warrants further exploration. Finally, we performed site-directed mutagenesis to achieve targeted synthesis of betulinic acid derivative. This work demonstrates a practical strategy of discovering novel anti-hyperglycemic drugs from derivatives of NPs synthesized through in vitro enzymatic synthesis technology, providing potential insights into compound P3 as a lead compound for anti-hyperglycemic drug development. Plants make different defense mechanisms in response to different environmental stresses. One common way is to produce secondary metabolites. Temperature is the main environmental factor that regulates plant secondary metabolites, especially flavonoids and terpenoids. Stress caused by temperature decreasing to 4–10 °C is conducive to the accumulation of flavonoids and terpenoids. However, the accumulation mechanism under cold stress still lacks a systematic explanation. In this review, we summarize three aspects of cold stress promoting the accumulation of flavonoids and terpenoids in plants, that is, by affecting (1) the content of endogenous plant hormones, especially jasmonic acid and abscisic acid; (2) the expression level and activity of important transcription factors, such as bHLH and MYB families. This aspect also includes post-translational modification of transcription factors caused by cold stress; (3) key enzyme genes expression and activity in the biosynthesis pathway, in addition, the rate-limiting enzyme and glycosyltransferases genes are responsive to cold stress. The systematic understanding of cold stress regulates flavonoids, and terpenoids will contribute to the future research of genetic engineering breeding, metabolism regulation, glycosyltransferases mining, and plant synthetic biology. Therapeutical monoclonal antibodies are structurally and functionally complex, whereas the innovator's manufacturing processes are proprietary. With respect to the similarity assessment, a proposed biosimilar product needs to demonstrate a side-by-side comparison between the reference product (RP) and candidate product in terms of physicochemical properties and biological activities, as well as nonclinical and clinical outcomes. Here, a comprehensive analytical similarity assessment was performed for in-depth comparison of HLX04, China-sourced Avastin® (CN-Avastin®), and Europe-sourced Avastin® (EU-Avastin®) following a tier-based quality attribute (QA) evaluation. A series of orthogonal and state-of-the-art analytical techniques were developed for the assessment. Ten lots of HLX04 were compared with 29 lots bevacizumab RP. Referred to the characterization results, HLX04 is highly similar to the RPs with respect to physicochemical properties and biological functions. In addition, HLX04 was found with similar stability and degradation behaviors upon multiple stressed conditions to bevacizumab. Minor differences were observed in glycosylation, aggregates, FcγRIIIa(F), and FcγRIIIa(V) binding activities; nevertheless, they were evaluated and demonstrated not to impact clinical outcomes. According to the reported clinical results, the totality of evidence, including the pharmacokinetic, efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity, further shows that HLX04 is similar to CN-/EU-Avastin®. Legume medicinal plants Astragalus membranaceus are widely used in the world and have very important economic value, ecological value, medicinal value, and ornamental value. The bioengineering technology of medicinal plants is used in the protection of endangered species, the rapid propagation of important resources, detoxification, and the improvement of degraded germplasm. Using bioengineering technology can effectively increase the content of secondary metabolites in A. membranaceus and improve the probability of solving the problem of medicinal plant resource shortage. In this review, we focused on biotechnological research into A. membranaceus, such as the latest advances in tissue culture, including callus, adventitious roots, hairy roots, suspension cells, etc., the metabolic regulation of chemical compounds in A. membranaceus, and the research progress on the synthetic biology of astragalosides, including the biosynthesis pathway of astragalosides, microbial transformation of astragalosides, and metabolic engineering of astragalosides. The review also looks forward to the new development trend of medicinal plant biotechnology, hoping to provide a broader development prospect for the in-depth study of medicinal plants. At present, most precious compounds are still obtained by plant cultivation such as ginsenosides, glycyrrhizic acid, and paclitaxel, which cannot be easily obtained by artificial synthesis. Plant tissue culture technology is the most commonly used biotechnology tool, which can be used for a variety of studies such as the production of natural compounds, functional gene research, plant micropropagation, plant breeding, and crop improvement. Tissue culture material is a basic and important part of this issue. The formation of different plant tissues and natural products is affected by growth conditions and endogenous substances. The accumulation of secondary metabolites are affected by plant tissue type, culture method, and environmental stress. Multi-domain technologies are developing rapidly, and they have made outstanding contributions to the application of plant tissue culture. The modes of action have their own characteristics, covering the whole process of plant tissue from the induction, culture, and production of natural secondary metabolites. This paper reviews the induction mechanism of different plant tissues and the application of multi-domain technologies such as artificial intelligence, biosensors, bioreactors, multi-omics monitoring, and nanomaterials in plant tissue culture and the production of secondary metabolites. Currently, tumor treatments are characterized by intelligence, diversity and personalization, but the therapeutic reagents used are often limited in clinical efficacy due to problems with water solubility, targeting, stability and multidrug resistance. To remedy these shortcomings, the application of multifunctional nanotechnology in the biomedical field has been widely studied. Synthetic melanin nanoparticles (MNPs) surfaces which contain highly reactive chemical groups such as carboxyl, hydroxyl and amine groups, can be used as a reaction platform on which to graft different functional components. In addition, MNPs easily adhere to substrate surface, and serve as a secondary reaction platform to modify it. The multifunctionality and intrinsic biocompatibility make melanin-like nanoparticles promising as a multifunctional and powerful nanoplatform for oncological applications. This paper first reviews the preparation methods, polymerization mechanisms and physicochemical properties of melanin including natural melanin and chemically synthesized melanin to guide scholars in MNP-based design. Then, recent advances in MNPs especially synthetic polydopamine (PDA) melanin for various medical oncological applications are systematically and thoroughly described, mainly focusing on bioimaging, photothermal therapy (PTT), and drug delivery for tumor therapy. Finally, based on the investigated literature, the current challenges and future directions for clinical translation are reasonably discussed, focusing on the innovative design of MNPs and further elucidation of pharmacokinetics. This paper is a timely and comprehensive and detailed study of the progress of MNPs in tumor therapy, especially PTT, and provides ideas for the design of personalized and customizable oncology nanomedicines to address the heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment. BACKGROUND: The active component content is an important factor affecting quality of traditional Chinese medicines. The fume‐drying process can effectively improve the content of active components in rhubarb, but the accumulation dynamics and molecular mechanisms are not known. In this study, variations in the active components of rhubarb during the drying process were determined, and the most intense changes in the active components were preferred for transcriptome inquiry. RESULTS: The results showed that the accumulation of active ingredients could be significantly promoted in the early stage of fume‐drying and air‐drying. In particular, the active ingredients increased by 61.57% (from 44.58 to 72.02 mg g−1) on the fourth day of fume‐drying. A total of 4191 DEGs (differentially expressed genes) were identified by transcriptome analysis when the active components changed significantly. Transcriptome data of different dried rhubarb samples revealed, that the fume‐drying process could significantly improve the expression of genes relevant to respiration, phenolic acid, and anthraquinone synthesis pathways in rhubarb, which was more conducive to the synthesis and accumulation of the active components. CONCLUSION: Fume‐drying stimulated respiration and secondary metabolite synthesis in rhubarb cells by exerting strong external stress on freshly harvested rhubarb. This study revealed the variations and molecular mechanism of active component accumulation in the rhubarb drying process and might serve as a guide for the development of alternative methods for rhubarb fumigation and drying process. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry. A modification approach is developed based on the idea of molecular imprinting technique to enhance the selective gas sensing performance of nanostructured SnO2 as gas sensors. The modification procedure, conducted on SnO2 microspheres as the porous substrate, involves in situ polymerization and calcination processes. A methanol-templated molecularly imprinted sample (cM-SnO2 MIP) was successfully synthesized via the modification procedure, which demonstrated great difference with its nonmodified counterpart (c-SnO2 MSs) in terms of both surface morphology and internal architecture. Gas sensing performance, including target gas response, selectivity, and dynamic sensing behavior, was investigated to validate the effectiveness of the imprinted cavities for methanol within cM-SnO2 MIPs. Compared to c-SnO2 MSs, the cM-SnO2 MIPs exhibited greatly enhanced methanol sensing selectivity and improved anti-interference ability by up to 2–10 times depending on the types of interference gases. Moreover, the predesigned target gas recognition capability of the molecularly imprinted sensors was proved by changing the template to ethanol and thus obtaining cE-SnO2 MIPs with excellent ethanol sensing selectivity as well as improved anti-interference ability. By constructing a sensor array, the excellent sensing selectivity of these nanostructured SnO2 microspheres was exploited to distinguish the chemically similar molecules, methanol and ethanol. Gold and Bi-bearing parageneses are pivotal to understanding gold concentration and deposition processes. The large-scale Laozuoshan gold deposit is located in the Jiamusi Block, northeastern China, and has experienced complex mineralization processes with abundant gold and Bi-bearing minerals. However, the relationship between Bi-minerals and gold is unclear, preventing our understanding of the gold enrichment and precipitation mechanism in the Laozuoshan gold deposit. Optical microscope and SEM results show three stages of gold mineralization: pyrrhotite (Po-1) + arsenopyrite (Apy-1) + Bi-bearing minerals (Bis-1) + Au-1; arsenopyrite (Apy-2) + chlorite + Bi-bearing minerals (Bis-2) + Au-2; and arsenopyrite (Apy-3) + graphite + Bi-bearing minerals (Bis-3) + Au-3. The abundant amount of gold (Au-1~Au-3) is associated with Bi-bearing minerals (Bis-1~Bis-3), which coexist as inclusions and fill in fractures in these minerals. The mineral assemblages of arsenopyrite, Bi-minerals, and gold exhibit a clear As-Bi-Au mineralogy in the ores, and the ternary diagram of the chemical compositions of the Bi-minerals shows that Bi-minerals all fall in reducing regions, indicating that Bi-minerals are precipitated under reducing conditions. The gold compositions demonstrate a positive correlation (R2 = 0.58) between Au and Bi. Consequently, we propose that the gold experienced the ore-forming fluids concentration and further Bi-melts scavenging for the Laozuoshan gold deposit mineralization. The Bi collector model is essential in interpreting the high-grade gold in the Laozuoshan gold deposit, indicating that the geochemical anomalies observed with bismuth may be a critical potential exploration target for the high-grade gold deposits in the Jiamusi Block. The ginsenoside Rg3 found in Panax species has extensive pharmacological properties, in particular anti‐cancer effects. However, its natural yield in Panax plants is limited. Here, we report a multi‐modular strategy to improve yields of Rg3 in a Panax ginseng chassis, combining engineering of triterpene metabolism and overexpression of a lignin biosynthesis gene, phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL). We first performed semi‐rational design and site mutagenesis to improve the enzymatic efficiency of Pq3‐O‐UGT2, a glycosyltransferase that directly catalyzes the biosynthesis of Rg3 from Rh2. Next, we used clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR‐associated protein 9 (Cas9) gene editing to knock down the branch pathway of protopanaxatriol‐type ginsenoside biosynthesis to enhance the metabolic flux of the protopanaxadiol‐type ginsenoside Rg3. Overexpression of PAL accelerated the formation of the xylem structure, significantly improving ginsenoside Rg3 accumulation (to 6.19‐fold higher than in the control). We combined overexpression of the ginsenoside aglycon synthetic genes squalene epoxidase, Pq3‐O‐UGT2, and PAL with CRISPR/Cas9‐based knockdown of CYP716A53v2 to improve ginsenoside Rg3 accumulation. Finally, we produced ginsenoside Rg3 at a yield of 83.6 mg/L in a shake flask (7.0 mg/g dry weight, 21.12‐fold higher than with wild‐type cultures). With cement as a cementitious material, fly ash, diatomaceous earth, sugar filter mud, and river sand as materials, and waste leachate instead of water, orthogonal experiments were designed to derive the preliminary formulation of curing materials and to explore the effect of different diatomaceous earth mixing amount on the performance of curing material test blocks. The experimental results showed that as the amount of diatomaceous earth increased from 12.5% to 13.58%, the 28d compressive strength of the cured material test block decreased from 9.85 MPa to 7.35 MPa, the dry density decreased from 1012 kg/m3 to 912 kg/m3, the porosity of the test block increased from 18.94% to 23.34% and the water absorption increased from 43.91% to 66.36%. Comparison of the best formulation of curing materials selected for cement, fly ash, diatomaceous earth and sugar filter mud mass ratio of 31.09 wt.%, 51.82 wt.%, 12.94 wt.%, 4.15 wt.%, external mixing river sand 15 wt.%, with a water–solid ratio of 0.8 was added to the waste leachate to prepare the curing material test blocks. Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) waste filaments are waste staple fibers from the production of AGM functional paper. Incorporation of AGM waste filaments into solid waste based curing agents, the experimental results showed that the maximum increase in compressive strength and flexural strength of the cured specimens was achieved when 5% mass fraction AGM waste filament was added with compressive strengths of 9.87 MPa and 10.96 MPa at 7 d and 28 d, respectively, representing an increase of 15.57% and 17.34% compared to the unadulterated one. The flexural strength was increased by 53.55% and 49.71% compared with that of the unadulterated AGM waste filament. The strength enhancement effect of mixing different shapes of AGM waste filaments is higher than that of mixing each shape alone, which proves that AGM waste filaments have a mixed enhancement effect. In this work, we developed a novel HPLC method for the simultaneous determination of 16 bioactive components in rhubarb and used it to determine the contents. Through the determination of bioactive components and in vitro activity, we compared the differences between 18 batches of different varieties of rhubarb. The contents of 16 bioactive components in Rheum officinale Baill., Rheum tanguticum Maxim. ex Balf., and Rheum palmatum Linn. were 57.53–76.09, 98.88–130.61 and 36.18–48.66 mg/g, respectively. The average inhibition rates of alkaline phosphatase in R. tanguticum were the highest, reaching 79.53%. The average inhibition rates of thrombin and Na+/K+‐ATPase in R. palmatum were the highest, reaching 80.93 and 62.42%, respectively. These results showed that there were significant differences in effective components and biological activities among different varieties of rhubarb. Through chemometric analysis, we preliminarily compared the differences in chemical composition of different varieties of rhubarb, and established a Fisher discriminant function which could accurately distinguish different varieties of rhubarb. Through correlation analysis and molecular docking, three potential components as quality markers of rhubarb were identified. This study compared the physicochemical characteristics and immunomodulatory activities of chrysanthemums' polysaccharides (JPs) from five cultivars. Significant differences were found in the molecular weights, the ratios of monosaccharide compositions, and morphological properties. Polysaccharides of Gongju (GJP) had the lowest molecular weight populations and polysaccharides of Boju (BJP) had the highest. SEM showed that GJP and polysaccharides of Qiju had looser and uniform surface structures, which are beneficial for being developed into instant products. Immunoregulatory assay revealed that JPs enhanced the phagocytosis and proliferation of RAW264.7 cells without obvious cytotoxicity, and upregulated the release level of TNF‐α, IFN‐γ, and NO. Immune‐enhancing activity correlated with their molecular weights, the contents of glucuronic acid and arabinose, and microstructure, which performed differently according to different cultivars. The results suggested that BJP and polysaccharides of Hangbaiju are more suitable to be developed as new functional foods for enhancing immunity, and provided a reference for selection based on the immunization requirements. The breaking and reorganization of chemical bonds during the transformation of amphiboles to pyroxenes are obscure due to similar structures and seemingly stable tetrahedrons. A systematic heating experiment was carried out on amphibolites at medium and high temperatures (600–1180°C) to explore the transformation mechanism of double‐chain silicate minerals (amphiboles) to single‐chain silicate minerals (pyroxenes). It was found that the morphology of Mg‐hornblende changed significantly at 1050°C. Raman spectroscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that a large amount of electron transfer promoted H+ escape during Fe2+ oxidation to Fe3+. Meanwhile, the decrease of ANa, AK, and TAl shortens the distance between the two tetrahedrons and breaks the O‐Si‐O bond connecting the tetrahedron and octahedron M4. Electron transfer between the octahedral and tetrahedral sites occurs at approximately 600°C. At ~900°C, a part of the Ca‐O electrons was transferred to the Ca‐O‐Si. Finally, the O‐Si‐O bond break caused Ca in M4 to move into cavity A‐site to form augite together with Si‐O‐Si at the site of T1‐T1, which behaves accordingly, the number of electrons lost by Ca‐O is similar to that gained by Si‐O‐Si at 1050–1100°C. This study provides direct evidence of Raman spectroscopy and XPS to reveal the phase transformation mechanism and establish phase transition thermometers of amphiboles to pyroxenes. Nowadays, cultivated variants and adulterants of Astragali Radix (AR) have flooded the market, causing the quality assurance of AR to be challenging. To address this issue, we combined network pharmacology with chromatographic fingerprinting and multicomponent quantitative analysis for the quality evaluation of AR. Specifically, through network pharmacology, a complete understanding of the active components and pharmacological activities of AR was established. In addition, establishing fingerprint profiles and multicomponent quantitation by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is convenient and comprehensive, and can more fully reflect the overall situation of the distribution of various chemical components. To evaluate and differentiate AR from different origins, hierarchical cluster analysis and principal component analysis were performed. The result showed that AR acts synergistically through multiple targets and pathways. The content of chemical components in AR from different origins varied significantly. Combining network pharmacology and multicomponent quantification results, astragaloside II and IV and formononetin can be used as quality markers for the quality control of AR. Contents of total flavonoids (TFc), total phenolics (TPc), and total crude polysaccharide (TCPc) in licorice from different origins were determined by optimized colorimetric methods, whereas five monomer ingredients (liquiritin [LQ], isoliquiritin [ILQ], liquiritigenin [LQG], isoliquiritigenin [ILQG], and glycyrrhizic acid [GA]) were simultaneously identified and quantified by HPLC–MS and HPLC. The results indicated that the contents of chemical compounds in licorice showed significant difference in different origins. Hierarchical cluster analysis and principal component analysis further proved that producing area indeed affected the quality including compounds and pharmacological activity in licorice. Licorice from Inner Mongolia exhibited the excellent DPPH assay, whereas samples from Gansu and Xinjiang showed high scavenging capacity to OH and ABTS free radicals. Meanwhile, α‐Glu inhibitory activity of licorice samples was four times higher than the antioxidant activity. Correlation analysis made clear that TFc and TCPc both strongly contribute to DPPH scavenge capacity at P < 0.01 level, whereas TCPc contributed to α‐Glu inhibitory activity at P < 0.05 level. This study would contribute to the comprehensive quality evaluation based on the compounds and pharmacological activity of licorice, and provide a reference for the choice of producing area to ensure the quality of licorice as a medicine. Soil–rock mixtures is a special engineering geological material and often used as a roadbed filler. Based on the orthogonal experimental method, a series of large-scale triaxial tests of soil–rock mixtures under the freeze–thaw cycle environment was designed with five factors including rock content, compaction degree, moisture content, number of freeze–thaw cycles and freezing temperature at four experimental levels, respectively. Then, the effect of each orthogonal experimental factor and the effect of the confining pressure on the statics mechanical characteristics of the soil–rock mixtures were statistically investigated by range and variance analysis. Research results showed that the static stress of the soil–rock mixtures is linearly positively correlated with the confining pressure; for different confining pressures, the most crucial factors to affect the static stress are different; for the shear strength, the most crucial factors to affect the cohesive force and friction angle are correspondingly number of freeze–thaw cycles and rock content. The study of the crucial influence factors at different confining pressures after freeze–thaw cycles can provide guidance for design and protection of soil–rock mixtures under different environment. Yiqi Fumai lyophilized injection (YQFM) is the recombination of Sheng mai san (SMS).YQFM has been applied clinically to efficaciously and safely treat chronic heart failure (CHF). However, the mechanism of YQFM is still not fully elucidated. The purpose of our study was to investigate the protective mechanism of YQFM against abdominal aortic coarctation (AAC) in rats by proteomic methods. After YQFM treatment, the cardiac function were obviously meliorated. One hundred and fifty-seven important differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified, including 109 in model rat compared with that in control rat (M:C) and 48 in YQFM-treated rat compared with that in model rat (T:M) by iTRAQ technology to analyze the proteomic characteristics of heart tissue. Bioinformatics analysis showed that DEPs was mainly involved in the body's energy metabolism and was closely related to oxidative phosphorylation. YQFM had also displayed efficient mitochondrial dysfunction alleviation properties in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced cardiomyocyte damage by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Metabolic assay, and Mitotracker staining. What's more, the levels of total cardiomyocyte apoptosis were markedly reduced following YQFM treatment. Furthermore, Western blot analysis showed that the expressions of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor co-activator-1α(PGC-1α) (p < 0.01 or p < 0.001), perixisome proliferation-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α) (p < 0.001)and retinoid X receptor alpha (RXR-α) were upregulated (p < 0.001), PGC-1α as well as its downstream effectors were also found to be upregulated in cardiomyocytes after YQFM treatment(p < 0.001).These results provided evidence that YQFM could enhance mitochondrial function of cardiomyocytes to play a role in the treatment of CHF by regulating mitochondrial biogenesis-related proteins. To study the mechanical characteristics of soil-rock mixture with particle duality, based on the concept of resistance series-parallel in physical electricity, a theoretical model of binary medium for soil-rock mixture with series-parallel mixed forces considering the influence of particle breakage was derived by the theory of binary medium model in damage mechanics. The indoor triaxial compression test was carried out to verify the binary medium model. The results show that under the same strain condition, the stress calculated by the series forced model is the lower limit, and the maximum average relative error is 30.44%. The stress calculated by the series-parallel forced model is the upper limit, and the maximum average relative error is 40.61%. The stress calculated by the series-parallel mixed forced model is between these two values, and the maximum average relative error is only 9.95%. Considering the influence of particle breakage, the maximum average relative error of the stress calculated by the series-parallel hybrid forced model is 7.63%, thus conforming to the mechanical characteristics of soil-rock mixture. Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by memory deficits and cognitive decline. Current drugs can only relieve symptoms, but cannot really cure AD. Cerebralcare Granule® (CG) is a Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) containing a variety of biologically active compounds. In our previous studies, CG has shown a beneficial effect against memory impairment in mice caused by d-galactose. However, whether CG can be used as a complementary medicine for the treatment of AD remains unexplored. Here, we use a combination of CG and memantine hydrochloride (Mm) to treat Alzheimer-like pathology and investigate the effects and mechanisms in vivo. Methods: The histology of brain was examined with Hematoxylin–eosin (HE) staining, Golgi staining and Thioflavin S staining. ELISA was applied to assess the expression levels or activities of CAT, SOD, GSH-Px, MDA, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin (TBIL) in serum, as well as the levels of IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α in the mice brain. Western blotting was used to assess the expression of β-secretase (BACE1), amyloid precursor protein (APP), APPβ, APPα, synaptophysin (SYN), growth-associated protein 43 (GAP43), and postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95). Results: In the present study, the combination group (CG + Mm) significantly attenuated Alzheimer-like behavior without adverse effects in APP/PS1 mice, indicating its high degree of safety and efficacy after long-term treatment. CG + Mm reduced AD pathological biomarker Aβ plaque accumulation by inhibiting BACE1 and APP expression (P < 0.05 or P < 0.001). Besides, the combination group markedly inhibited the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in hippocampus (P < 0.001), as well as activities of SOD, CAT, and GSH-Px in serum (P < 0.001). By contrast, the combination group improved synaptic plasticity by enhancing SYN, PSD95, and GAP43 expression. Conclusions: Taken together, these data supported the notion that CG combined with Mm might ameliorate the cognitive impairment through multiple pathways, suggesting that CG could play a role as complementary medicine to increase anti-AD effect of chemical drugs by reducing Aβ deposition, neuroinflammation, oxidative damage, and improving synaptic plasticity. Polyphyllin II (PII) and polyphyllin VII (PVII) are the main active ingredients in Paris Polyphylla with an excellent antitumor effect in vitro and in vivo. In this study, a rapid and precise LC–MS/MS method was developed and validated for the separation and simultaneous determination of PII and PVII in rat plasma, tissues, feces and urine using ginsenoside Rg3 as the internal standard. Positive linearity ranged from 1 to 1,000 ng/ml in samples. At the same time, intra‐ and inter‐day precisions were in range of 1.8–12.0%. The accuracy ranged from 95.9 to 100.8%. Mean extraction recoveries of PII and PVII ranged from 86.6 to 96.4%. The analytical method has been successfully applied to the pharmacokinetic studies of PII and PVII in rats after their i.v. administration. After entering systemic circulation, PII and PVII were rapidly distributed in organs, mainly including liver, lung and spleen. Their elimination rate was slow. Postharvest processing plays a very important role in improving the quality of traditional Chinese medicine. According to previous studies, smoke-drying could significantly promote the accumulation of the bioactive components and pharmacological activities of rhubarb, but so far, the molecular mechanism has not been studied yet. In this research, to study the molecular mechanisms of postharvest processing for rhubarb during shade-drying and smoke-drying, label-free proteomic analyses were conducted. In total, 1,927 differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) were identified from rhubarb samples treated by different drying methods. These DAPs were mainly involved in response and defense, signal transduction, starch, carbohydrate and energy metabolism, and anthraquinone and phenolic acid biosynthesis. Smoke-drying significantly enhanced the expression of proteins involved in these metabolic pathways. Accordingly, the molecular mechanism of the accumulation of effective ingredients of rhubarb was clarified, which provided a novel insight into the biosynthesis of active ingredients that occur during the rhubarb dry process. Triterpenoid saponins are structurally diverse secondary metabolites. They are the main active ingredient of many medicinal plants and have a wide range of pharmacological effects. Traditional production of triterpenoid saponins, directly extracted from cultivated plants, cannot meet the rapidly growing demand of pharmaceutical industry. Microorganisms with triterpenoid saponins production ability (especially Agrobacterium genus) and biotransformation ability, such as fungal species in Armillaria and Aspergillus genera and bacterial species in Bacillus and Intestinal microflora, represent a valuable source of active metabolites. With the development of synthetic biology, engineering microorganisms acquired more potential in terms of triterpenoid saponins production. This review focusses on potential mechanisms and the high yield strategies of microorganisms with inherent production or biotransformation ability of triterpenoid saponins. Advances in the engineering of microorganisms, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yarrowia lipolytica, and Escherichia coli, for the biosynthesis triterpenoid saponins de novo have also been reported. Strategies to increase the yield of triterpenoid saponins in engineering microorganisms are summarized following four aspects, that is, introduction of high efficient gene, optimization of enzyme activity, enhancement of metabolic flux to target compounds, and optimization of fermentation conditions. Shunaoxin pills (SNX) have been used to treat cerebrovascular diseases in China since 2005. Hypertension is a major risk factor for cerebrovascular disease. This study aimed to explore the synergistic antihypertensive effect of SNX and nifedipine and whether SNX could alleviate nifedipine‐induced renal lipotoxicity. During administration, systolic blood pressure was measured weekly. After 5 weeks administration, we examined pathological changes of kidney, renal function, the lipid metabolism index, and adipogenesis genes expression in the kidney tissues, and explored its underlying mechanism. Finally, network pharmacology was used for supplement and verification. As a result, SNX improved the antihypertensive effect of nifedipine and apparently improved nifedipine‐induced renal pathological changes, dyslipidemia and the levels of adipogenesis gene expression in kidney tissues. SNX reduced the levels of interleukin‐6 and interleukin‐1β in renal tissues, down‐regulated the production of malondialdehyde, and increased superoxide dismutase activity and the protein expression of heme oxygenase‐1 in kidney tissues. Network pharmacology also showed that SNX could improve nifedipine‐induced renal lipotoxicity. The combination of SNX and nifedipine had certain benefits in the treatment of hypertension. Background: Achlorophyllous orchids are mycoheterotrophic plants, which lack photosynthetic ability and associate with fungi to acquire carbon from different environmental sources. In tropical latitudes, achlorophyllous forest orchids show a preference to establish mycorrhizal relationships with saprotrophic fungi. However, a few of them have been recently found to associate with ectomycorrhizal fungi and there is still much to be learned about the identity of fungi associated with tropical orchids. The present study focused on mycorrhizal diversity in the achlorophyllous orchid C. inverta, an endangered species, which is endemic to southern China. The aim of this work was to identify the main mycorrhizal partners of C. inverta in different plant life stages, by means of morphological and molecular methods. Results: Microscopy showed that the roots of analysed C. inverta samples were extensively colonized by fungal hyphae forming pelotons in root cortical cells. Fungal ITS regions were amplified by polymerase chain reaction, from DNA extracted from fungal mycelia isolated from orchid root samples, as well as from total root DNA. Molecular sequencing and phylogenetic analyses showed that the investigated orchid primarily associated with ectomycorrhizal fungi belonging to a narrow clade within the family Ceratobasidiaceae, which was previously detected in a few fully mycoheterotrophic orchids and was also found to show ectomycorrhizal capability on trees and shrubs. Russulaceae fungal symbionts, showing high similarity with members of the ectomycorrhizal genus Russula, were also identified from the roots of C. inverta, at young seedling stage. Ascomycetous fungi including Chaetomium, Diaporthe, Leptodontidium, and Phomopsis genera, and zygomycetes in the genus Mortierella were obtained from orchid root isolated strains with unclear functional role. Conclusions: This study represents the first assessment of root fungal diversity in the rare, cryptic and narrowly distributed Chinese orchid C. inverta. Our results provide new insights on the spectrum of orchid-fungus symbiosis suggesting an unprecedented mixed association between the studied achlorophyllous forest orchid and ectomycorrhizal fungi belonging to Ceratobasidiaceae and Russulaceae. Ceratobasidioid fungi as dominant associates in the roots of C. inverta represent a new record of the rare association between the identified fungal group and fully mycoheterotrophic orchids in nature. Background: A biosimilar needs to demonstrate its similarity to the originator reference product (RP) in terms of structural and functional properties as well as nonclinical and clinical outcomes. Objectives: The aim was to assess the analytical similarity between the trastuzumab biosimilar HLX02 and Europe-sourced Herceptin® (EU-Herceptin®) and China-sourced Herceptin® (CN-Herceptin®) following a quality-by-design (QbD) quality study and tier-based quality attribute evaluation. Methods: A panel of highly sensitive and orthogonal methods, including a novel Fc gamma receptor IIIa (FcγRIIIa) affinity chromatography technique that enables quantitative comparison of glycan effects on effector function, was developed for the assessment. To ensure the full product variability was captured, ten batches of HLX02 were compared with 39 RP batches with expiry dates from August 2017 to March 2021. Results: The extensive three-way similarity assessment demonstrated that HLX02 is highly similar to the RPs. Furthermore, the %afucose, %galactose, and FcγRIIIa affinity of the RPs were observed to first decrease and then return to the original level in relation to their expiry dates, and the RP batches can be subgrouped by their FcγRIIIa affinity chromatograms. HLX02 is demonstrated to be more similar to the RPs of the high FcγRIIIa affinity group. Conclusion: Besides having an overall high analytical similarity to both EU-Herceptin® and CN-Herceptin®, HLX02 is more similar to Herceptin® with high FcγRIIIa affinity, a result that demonstrates the power of the novel FcγRIIIa affinity chromatography technology in biosimilarity evaluation. Quality by design (QbD) is an efficient but challenging approach for the development of biosimilar due to the complex relationship among process, quality, and efficacy. Here, the analytical similarity of adalimumab biosimilar HLX03 to Humira® was successfully established following a QbD quality study. Quality target product profile (QTPP) of HLX03 was first generated according to the public available information and initial characterization of 3 batches of Humira®. The critical quality attributes (CQAs) were then identified through risk assessment according to impact of each quality attribute on efficacy and safety. The anticipated range for each CQA was derived from similarity acceptance range and/or the corresponding regulatory guidelines. Finally, a panel of advanced and orthogonal physicochemical and functional tests and comparison of 6 batches of HLX03 and 10 batches of the reference standard demonstrated high similarity of HLX03 to Humira®, except for slightly lower percentage of high mannosylated glycans (%HM) in HLX03 which had no effect on FcγRIII binding and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) activity in human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC). Proximal and distal garnets from skarns at Jiaduobule, Tibet, are used to demonstrate how variation in the fluid composition and parameters such as salinity, pH, fO2, and X CO 2 will impact on rare earth element (REE) distribution in garnets, and also to constrain skarn evolution across the orefield from proximal (Fe mineralization) to distal (Cu mineralization). These garnets display a diversity from proximal to distal skarn which is expressed in mineral assemblages, textures, major to trace element contents, and particularly, chondrite-normalized REE fractionation trends. The empirical variation among REE fractionation trends, determined from laser ablation inductively coupled-plasma mass spectrometry data, can be numerically modelled in terms of variable fluid compositions and physicochemical parameters, among which the key determining factors are salinity, pH, X CO 2 and Ca content buffered from the rock-fluid reaction with carbonate rocks. Modelling REE trends in skarn garnet is shown to be valuable for constraining conditions during garnet formation and a useful tool for monitoring the evolution of complex skarn deposits. Introduction: Dioscorea species, which contain abundant steroidal saponins, have been used as folk medicines or raw materials to synthesise steroid drugs. Objective: To establish a rapid chemotaxonomic method that will comprehensively resolve confusions about genetic relationships of genus Dioscorea. Methods: A comprehensive strategy using ultra‐high‐performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time‐of‐flight tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS) was firstly proposed to evaluate the chemotaxonomy of 12 species (27 taxa) from China by hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) based on the variations of the identified metabolites. Results: Twenty‐eight secondary metabolites (mainly steroidal saponins) were identified. The MSn fragmentation patterns of DA (a new acetylated steroidal saponin at C‐7 position) were firstly reported. Moreover, eight major steroidal saponins were further quantified simultaneously by UPLC‐QTOF‐MS method. According to HCA results, D. bulbifera L. was distinguished with species of sect. Stenophora Uline for pennogenin‐type steroidal saponins. Dioscorea zingiberensis exhibited far distance from other members of sect. Stenophora Uline for two unique saponins. Dioscorea banzhuana may be reclassified into sect. Stenophora. Dioscoreanipponica subsp. rosthornii and D. collettii var. hypoglauca might be separated from their original subspecies/varieties as new species, respectively. Conclusion: The chemotaxonomic method was successfully applied in the study of genetic relationships of Dioscorea species. This study not only enhanced the understanding of chemical constituents, but also laid basic theoretical foundations for the rational utilisation and chemotaxonomy of genus Dioscorea. Twenty‐eight secondary metabolites were qualified from Dioscorea plants and eight of them were quantified simultaneously by UHPLC‐QTOF‐MS/MS analysis. Chemotaxonomic method was successfully applied to the study of genetic relationships of 12 Dioscorea species based on the distribution of identified constituents. A hierarchical NiO-based nanostructure, constructed from multi-dimensional building blocks, was fabricated by a synthesis method based on electrospinning and solution phase reaction. Fe was incorporated into the NiO nanostructure with highly uniform distribution via ion exchange reaction. A series of Fe2O3/NiO composites with different compositions were successfully synthesized with the hierarchical architecture well preserved. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) were used to characterize the structure and to confirm the formation mechanism of the synthesized products. The gas sensing properties of the Fe2O3/NiO hierarchical composites were systematically investigated. The optimized composition of Fe2O3/NiO shows superior sensing performance towards ethanol, such as high sensitivity, fast response/recovery speed and good selectivity. The high gas sensing performance of the sensing material was mainly due to the completeness of the heterojunction assembly between n-type Fe2O3 and p-type NiO, as well as the amplification effect caused by assembling the heterojunctions on the nanoscale. Bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNCs) transplantation has evolved as a promising experimental treatment in various regenerative therapy fields, especially in clinical hematopoietic stem cells transplantation (HSCT). In vitro methods have mainly been used to study the pre-clinical kinetics of BM-MNCs in mice after transplantation. And it is difficult to monitor the dynamic homing of BM-MNCs in living mice. The present study obtained the kinetics of transplanted BM-MNCs in the peripheral blood (PB) and the dynamic homing of BM-MNCs in the BM in living mice by a combination of in vivo flow cytometry (IVFC) and calvarium intravital microscopy. We found out that BM-MNCs were cleared rapidly from the PB and mainly localized to various hematopoietic tissues after transplantation. The number of BM-MNCs in the PB decreased over time accompanied by an increase in the BM indeed after transplantation. In addition, a lower number of BM-MNCs were found home to calvaria than long bone, probably indicating long bone marrow might also be an important hematopoietic organ. Clinical studies will benefit from non-invasive measurements to monitor the dynamic homing of transplanted cells. Huashanshen dripping pill (HSS), a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine, has been widely used in China due to its properties of antiasthma, expectorant, and antitussive. However, it was less in-depth understanding of the chemical composition, their absorption in plasma and potential biological mechanism. In this research, ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry was developed to simultaneously identify the chemical constituents and absorption in rat plasma after oral administration of HSS. IgE-sensitized to ovalbumin was induced in BALB/c mice. ELISA and molecular docking analysis were carried out to identify their antiasthmatic mechanisms. As a result, 11 compounds were tentatively characterized by comparing the retention time, ion fragments, and the accurate mass measurement of [M + H]+ ions in the HSS. Two alkaloids including d-anisodamine and l-anisodamine were identified in the rat plasma after oral administration of HSS. The pills alleviated airway inflammation in lung tissues, and inhibited IgE, IL-4, and IL-5 in the serum. Furthermore, there were several amino acid residues involved in anisodamine-targeting receptors of hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions via molecular docking indication. All in all, anisodamine would be the main component in the HSS whose antiasthmatic effects based on the inhibition of IgE, IL-4, and IL-5 production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Formononetin (MBHS) and its glycosylated derivative ononin (MBHG), as the major isoflavones, have exhibited the anti-inflammatory impacts on the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation. Although various researches have focused on interpreting the pharmaceutical activities of MBHG and MBHS, the molecular mechanisms in zebrafish models are still unclear. Objective: The purpose of the present work is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of the anti-inflammatory effects of MGHG and MBHS based on lipidomics and targeted transcriptomics. Methods: UHPLC-MS was applied for the lipid analyses and RT-PCR was adopted for the mRNA analyses, and the results of different groups were compared for exploring the significantly changed lipids and mRNAs. Results: The results of lipidomics revealed that phosphatidylcholines (PCs) were drastically down-regulated in the MBHG or MBHS treated LPS-induced inflammatory zebrafish models. Besides, MBHS can also decrease the levels of triacylglycerols (TAGs). For the targeted transcriptomics analyses, 4 cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IFN-γ) and 3 mRNA (JNK1, ERK1 and p38a) involved in the MAPK pathway were down-regulated and IL-10 was up-regulated under the treatment of MBHG or MBHS. Conclusion: Combining the results of lipidomics and targeted transcriptomics, we indicated that MBHG and MBHS exerted potent anti-inflammatory effects on the LPS-induced zebrafish models through the MyD88 or TRIF MAPK/ERK and MAPK/JNK pathways and the glycerophospholipid, glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis and glycerolipid metabolisms. Amphibole is a rock‐forming mineral widely existing on the earth. It is easily dissolved and altered during the later stage of diagenesis and mineralization, and often forms chloritization, which is an important indicator for prospecting. To explore amphibole's dissolution process and alteration mechanism, dissolution experiments were carried out under acidic conditions using pargasite‐rich amphibole as raw material, and the effects of temperature, pH, and experiment duration on amphibole alteration were investigated. Experimental samples and products were analyzed using X‐ray diffractometer, field emission scanning electron microscope, electron probe micro analyzer, and transmission electron microscopy. It was found that many pores and erosion edges are produced after amphibole dissolution, and there is a clear interface between the dissolved residual portion and the parent. The dissolved residual portion remains in the amphibole phase, but as the temperature and time increase, the intensity of the diffraction peak of the phase in the product decreases, and the peak position shifts to a small angle. Many clay minerals such as chlorite and griffithite formed on the amphibole surface. In an environment with strong acidity (pH=3), the amount of chamosite increases with temperature (180°C→210° C→240°C), whereas clinochlore is only increased in a 150–210°C environment. Griffithite growth was observed in the acidic (pH=6) and low temperature (<180°C) environments. Based on this analysis, large radius Cl– enters the amphibole lattice or cracks to promote dissolution. The Al‐poor and Ca‐ and Fe‐rich regions between the edge and core of the amphibole are caused by dynamic equilibrium in amphibole dissolution and alteration process, which is an essential indicator for the beginning of amphibole dissolution‐alteration. Diffusion and the coupled dissolution‐reprecipitation mechanism accomplishes the process of dissolution and alteration to form clay minerals. The energy of the system determined by temperature and pH is the key to controlling the rate of growth and nucleation of clay minerals. High temperature and strong acidity will dissolve more iron from amphibole, which is conducive to chlorite growth. Compared to chlorite, griffithite is more sensitive to temperature. Griffithite attaches on the amphibole surface with a star‐like in a weak acid and low‐temperature environment. The results of this study can provide a mineralogical basis for the analysis of hydrothermal alteration processes and the division of alteration zones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) combined with blood pressure (BP) on cardio-cerebrovascular events. Participants who received health examinations during the periods 2010–2011, 2012–2013 and 2014–2015 were recruited. The participants were divided into four groups according to their BP and baPWV levels as follows: Normotension + low baPWV, normotension + high baPWV, hypertension + low baPWV, and hypertension + high baPWV. The cumulative incidence of cardio-cerebrovascular events was calculated using life-table analysis, and the associations of BP and baPWV with cardio-cerebrovascular events were analyzed using a multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression model. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to calculate the predictive values of baPWV combined with BP, baPWV alone or BP alone for cardio-cerebrovascular events by comparing their area under the curve (AUC) using the normal approximation method. There were 20,310 participants with a mean age of 50.13±0.09 years in the present study, including 13,240 males. A total of 278 participants developed a cardio-cerebrovascular event after a mean follow-up period of 3.34±1.82 years. The cumulative incidence of cardio-cerebrovascular events in the normotension + low baPWV, normotension + high baPWV, hypertension + low baPWV and hypertension + high baPWV groups was 0.2, 0.9, 0.8 and 3.1%. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that compared with the normotension + low baPWV group, the risks of cardio-cerebrovascular events in the normotension + high baPWV, hypertension + low baPWV and hypertension + high baPWV groups were increased after adjusting for confounding factors, and their hazard ratios (95% CI) were 4.18 (2.23–7.83), 3.00 (1.39–6.47) and 9.34 (5.14–16.96), respectively. The AUC values for the predictive values of baPWV combined with BP, baPWV alone and BP alone on cardio-cerebrovascular events were calculated to be 0.744, 0.677 and 0.698, respectively. In conclusion, high baPWV accompanied by hypertension could increase the risk of cardio-cerebrovascular events. The predictive value of baPWV combined with BP on cardio-cerebrovascular events is superior compared with that of either baPWV or BP alone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dioscorea oppositifolia (Chinese yam) (DO) and Dioscorea hamiltonii (DH) are the plants of the genus Dioscorea and they are used as health food and traditional Chinese medicine. In order to development of the available DO and DH source, a comparative study of principal components and activities were carried on. DO and DH was qualitatively and quantitively profiled, and we comparatively evaluated their antioxidant (reducing power assay), anti-inflammatory (xylene-induced ear oedema test) and nonspecific immune regulating (carbon clearance test) activities. The 42 and 38 compounds were detected from DO and DH by the method UPLC-DAD-Q-TOF-MS/MS, respectively, as well as 14 compounds are quantified by HPLC and the methodology was examined. This is the first study of the composition and activities of DH, it also indicates that DO and DH consumption would be beneficial to the health.
