- Abstract
To excavate the value of Aquilaria sinensis plantation, the characteristics and growth regulation of the bark fibers collected both from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province and Zhongshan, Guangdong Province were studied. Results showed that the phloem fibers from the cortex to the cambium gradually increased, and the septate fibers were obvious, the ends of bark fibers were tapering, and some fiber ends appeared lituate. The morphology variation of 0~25.0 mm branch bark fiber was regular and rhythmic. The stem fiber thickness of 10~340 cm were less regularity with the increase of tree height, the fiber length increased first and then decreased with the increase of tree height, the width decreased and length-width ratio increased with the raised height of the tree, while the morphology variation of the stem bark fibers did not show significant regularity with the increase of tree diameter. The characteristics of bark fiber of A. sinensis trunk were similar to highclass bark fibers of Pterocektis tatarinowii, while the length of bark fiber of branches was similar to that of Edgeworthia papyrifera, which belonged to soft and thin phloem fiber, the bark fiber of A. sinensis had a good morphology for pulping and papermaking.
