We present a low-cost fabrication technique of a polymer-based micro-opticalelectrical- mechanical systems (MOEMS) suited for the dynamic focusing of VCSELs (vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers). A simple method based on an SU(8) double exposure is proposed for the collective integration of small footprint transparent suspended membrane arrays on vertical laser diodes. We demonstrate that this kind of MOEMS can provide under thermal actuation a vertical displacement of around 0.2 µmW-1 over a maximal range of 8 µm. As a wide range of initial gaps between the membrane and the laser source can be chosen, this approach opens new insights into the dynamic control of the VCSEL beam waist position as well as for tunable VCSEL fabrication. In this study, we explore the potential of poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based phase-shift lithography (PPSL) for the fabrication of nanofluidic devices. We establish that this technology, which was already shown to allow for the generation of 100 nm linear or punctual features over squared centimeter surfaces with conventional photolithography systems, is readily adequate to produce some of the most popular nanofluidic systems, namely nanochannels and nanoposts arrays. We also demonstrate that PPSL technology enables to generate PDMS and silicon nanofluidic systems. This technological achievement allows us to perform single DNA molecule manipulation experiments in PDMS and silicon nanochannels, and we observe an unexpectedly slow migration of DNA in PDMS devices, which is independent on salt or pH conditions. Our data in fact hint to the existence of an anomalous response of DNA in PDMS nanofluidic devices, which is likely associated to transient nonspecific interactions of DNA with PDMS walls. Transdermal active drug delivery is one way to propose new disease treatment as an improvement to passive patches diffusion based on concentration gradient. Although skin limitations due to low permeability active transdermal delivery approach are investigated, by the proposition of an iontophoretic reusable and controllable patch. Making such an e-health care device offers active control and permanent actuating link able to control the amount of drug delivered. In vitro experiment is conducted to investigate the current effect on the permeation. Modelling and simulations are carried out to optimise the design and the electrical stimulation and finally a global overview of the architecture of the patch is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The most common performance criterion for swimming is stroke length, stroke count and lap count and the tested device is a Swimbot.
