This paper presents an improved conformal mapping (ICM) method for magnetic field analysis in one typical surface-mounted permanent-magnet (SMPM) motor considering the static, dynamic, and mixed rotor eccentricities. The ICM method accurately accounts for the slotting effect, the winding distribution, the armature reaction, the magnetic saturation effect, and the working point variation of PMs throughout their volume. The ICM method is also very rigorous to separate the onload air gap field components. First, the slotless model of an eccentric SMPM motor is mapped to one concentric model using a new form of bilinear conformal mapping, and the field solution is then obtained through applying Hague's solution in the main canonical domain. Second, the slotted air gap magnetic field is obtained through the modulation of air gap magnetic field in the slotless physical domain using the complex relative air gap permeance. The ICM method is also used to investigate the influence of rotor eccentricity on the flux linkage of the stator coils. This developed model is validated through comparing with the corresponding results obtained through finite element method and the frozen permeability method. Abstract—The necessity of using a 3D model is one of the main problems for modeling Roebel bar transposition in turbo-generators by the finite-element method. This article proposes a 2D dual model for computing strand current distribution in the Roebel bar of turbo-generators. Considering the leakage and mutual inductances for each strand and the coupling inductances between them, the end winding region is modeled in this 2D dual model. In this article, the Roebel bar structure including 16 strands was considered, and these distributions are calculated for different transpositions using the finite-element method. In the finite-element method model, the circulating currents are calculated by subtracting a load current at each strand from the total of strand current. Also, for different transpositions, such as 90°, 180°, 360°, and 540°, the circulating currents are calculated using an analytical method. The obtained strand current distributions from the 2D dual model have good agreement with the obtained results from the analytical method for the 180° and 360° transposed coil models. In this paper, the circulating current analysis between strands is studied while considering the different transpositions in the active part and without considering the transposition in the end winding region. First, this analysis is done while only considering the slot region, and then the end winding region is added to the model. The model used for this analysis is a circuit model, including the resistance and inductance of the strands and their induced back-electromotive force (EMF). The back-EMF sources and inductances are calculated through a 2D finite element analysis (FEA) of the active part and a 3D FEA for the end winding region. For the slot region analysis, the results show that the 360° and 540° transpositions are the best. Moreover, when considering the end winding region in analysis, the results obtained show that the 540 ° transposition minimizes the circulating current more than any other transposition. Finally, for different transpositions, the obtained results are compared among themselves and with the results of the untransposed model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
