The aim of this article is to show that in Achaemenid Elamite the sign had a secondary phonetic value /me/. The evidence collected in support of this claim consists mainly in Elamite transcriptions of Iranian words in the Achaemenid Royal Inscriptions and in the Persepolis administrative texts, which are impossible or very difficult to account for only contemplating the usual value /man/. This article presents an edition of the Elamite version of the inscription A2Ha, which has always been considered too badly preserved to be read. Starting from the newly established text, some remarks will be made on the interpretation of the final word of the inscription (melkanra) and on its Old Persian counterpart (vidītu), which is found in the partially identical text A2Sa. Humans have been dependent on hunting for survival, but the role of hunting somehow changed in the Assyrian civilization, and became a tool to show the power of kings in the form of images of hunting powerful animals or war scenes. One of the subjects that was worked as a relief or seal in the Achaemenid period in Iran was the king's battle with a hybrid animal. On the other hand, this image is demonstrated in the form of a relief in the ancient Elamite civilization, called Enumaleiš. The comparative study of the creation myths of ancient Iran and Mesopotamia could reveal the common concept of battle with lions or hybrid animals in the Achaemenid and Babylonian reliefs. This research takes a comparative approach to study motifs and myths. According to the alignment of the myths of Iran and Mesopotamia, the question is, what was the purpose of raising this issue in Iranian and Mesopotamian art? The research method was descriptive-analytical and the method of data collection was library-based. The results of the research showed that the artists' motivation in creating these reliefs was to explain their surrounding world based on the transformation of nature, fertility, and peace. Also, the king's battle with the hybrid animal has illustrated the myth of order and disorder and good and evil, which has been the commonality and intellectual unity of neighboring civilizations in dealing with nature and establishing order in it. This article discusses the language of the Xūz mentioned in Arabic sources, endorsing the view that it is the latest attestation of the Elamite language. Drawing on models from historical sociolinguistics, it also studies the problem of mutual acculturation between speakers of Elamite and Persian in antiquity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses some of the verbs found in Elamite texts. The focus is on the units that bear some typological similarities with the items in the Kartvelian, Dravidian and Indo-European languages. This study investigated the technological features of the Neo- Elamite glazed bricks discovered at the Acropolis of Susa, south-western Iran, by conducting micro- Raman spectroscopy, differential thermal analysis/thermogravimetry ( DTA/TG), X-ray diffraction ( XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy ( SEM-EDS). The results showed that calcium antimonate white and lead antimonate yellow were used as opacifiers in the white, yellow and green glazes, and that green and turquoise glazes were achieved using copper. Coloured glazes were separated by a Si-rich brown glaze to prevent them from running together during firing. The glazed bricks most probably were not fired at temperatures higher than 900°C. The Dravidian languages, now spoken mainly in peninsular India, form one of two main branches of the Zagrosian language family, whose other main branch consists of Elamitic and Brahui. Proto-Dravidian, the oldest reconstructible form of Dravidian, shows a society whose economy is based mainly on herding. While the speakers of Proto-Dravidian had some agricultural knowledge, they do not appear to have brought cereals with them when they moved from western Iran to the borderlands of South Asia in the fourth millennium BCE. Linguistic evidence shows that they had contact with Indo-Iranian speakers, and some groups of Dravidian speakers entered the Indus Valley before or during the period of the Harappan civilization. Dravidian-speaking groups played a significant role in herding and agriculture during that period and later, and may have been the first to cultivate rice on a large scale in the Indus Valley.
