Thyroid cancer (TC) remains the most common cancer in endocrinology. Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), the most common type of TC, generally has a favorable outlook with conventional treatment, which typically includes surgery along with radioiodine (RAI) therapy and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) suppression through thyroid hormone therapy. However, a small subset of patients (less than 5%) develop resistance to RAI. This resistance occurs due to the loss of Na/I symporter (NIS) activity, which is crucial for iodine absorption in thyroid cells. The decline in NIS activity appears to be due to gene modifications, reconfigurations with irregular stimulation of signaling pathways such as MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways. These molecular changes lead to a diminished ability of DTC cells to concentrate iodine, which makes RAI therapy ineffective. As a consequence, patients with radioiodine-refractory DTC require alternative treatments. Therapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has emerged as the primary treatment option to inhibit proliferation and growth of RAIR-DTC, targeting the pathways responsible for tumor progression. In this article, we analyze molecular processes responsible for RAI resistance and explore both conventional and emerging therapeutic strategies for managing RAIR-DTC, aiming to improve patient outcomes. Mechanical antennas with rotating permanent magnets are a relatively new type of transmitting antenna in low- and ultralow-frequency (LF/ULF) ranges. The perspectives of the applications are encouraging, especially in the field of non-destructive defectoscopy and communications through conductive media (underwater communications), which is reflected in the articles published in the last decade. This article describes the experimental setup, results, harmonic analysis, and simulation validation for two configurations of mechanical antennas with rotating NdFeB permanent magnets. The emphasis is placed on the known analytical equations, specifically on the matching of the measurement results with the analytical data as well as with the results given by the numerical analysis. Also, several means of measurement are used to validate the results through replicate testing. Through analytical analysis and the performed measurement, this article establishes the basics for designing mechanical antennas with rotating permanent magnets for the considered configurations based on a single static magnetic field measurement. Recent advances have highlighted the gut microbiota as a significant contributor to the development and progression of atherosclerosis, which is an inflammatory cardiovascular disease (CVD) characterized by plaque buildup within arterial walls. The gut microbiota, consisting of a diverse collection of microorganisms, impacts the host's metabolism, immune responses, and lipid processing, all of which contribute to atherosclerosis. This review explores the complex mechanisms through which gut dysbiosis promotes atherogenesis. We emphasize the potential of integrating microbiota modulation with traditional cardiovascular care, offering a holistic approach to managing atherosclerosis. Important pathways involve the translocation of inflammatory microbial components, modulation of lipid metabolism through metabolites such as trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), and the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that influence vascular health. Studies reveal distinct microbial profiles in atherosclerosis patients, with increased pathogenic bacteria (Megamonas, Veillonella, Streptococcus) and reduced anti-inflammatory genera (Bifidobacterium, Roseburia), highlighting the potential of these profiles as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Probiotics are live microorganisms that have health benefits on the host. Prebiotics are non-digestible dietary fibers that stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial gut bacteria. Interventions targeting microbiota, such as probiotics, prebiotics, dietary modifications, and faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), present effective approaches for restoring microbial equilibrium and justifying cardiovascular risk. This research addresses a feasibility study for validating an exoskeleton with kinematic considerations. The designed exoskeleton will be used for children with congenital disorders, especially for a case study characterized by Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The research core focuses on virtual simulations carried out through the multibody systems theory under an MSC Adams 2012 software environment, with an exoskeleton constructive solution. The designed exoskeleton mechanism is characterized by simplicity, low-cost, and easy-operation features criteria. Biomarkers in colorectal cancer (CRC) are of great interest in the current literature due to improvements in techniques such as liquid biopsy and next-generation sequencing (NGS). However, screening methods vary globally, with multi-target stool DNA (mt-sDNA) predominantly used in the USA and, more recently, the Cologuard Plus; biomarkers such as the Galectins family and septins show promise in early detection. Gut microbiome assessments, such as Fusobacterium nucleatum, are under intense exploration. Diagnostic tests, such as circulating DNA analysis via NGS, exhibit effectiveness and are being increasingly adopted. Circulating tumor cells emerge as potential alternatives to traditional methods in terms of diagnosis and prognosis. Predictive biomarkers are well established in guidelines; nonetheless, with the aid of machine learning and artificial intelligence, these biomarkers may be improved. Objective: We hypothesized that the severity of foot poikilothermy can be used for better differentiation of grades of acute limb ischemia. Thus, the study aim was evaluation of the value of non-contact foot thermometry, performed using a low-cost infrared medical thermometer, as an adjunct for clinical diagnosis of immediately threatened acute limb ischemia. Methods: It was a single-center observational prospective study performed over 3 years. Patients with acute limb ischemia of lower limbs grade I–IIB Rutherford treated with urgent revascularization were included. Grade of ischemia was determined independently by two experienced vascular surgeons. Thermometry of the ischemic foot was performed using a medical digital infrared non-contact thermometer (CK-T1501, Cooligg, China) with measuring accuracy of ±0.2°C. Temperature was measured in three points: the dorsal surface of the foot, plantar surface of the foot (both in the metatarsal region), and forehead. The maximal temperature gradient between patient's forehead and foot (∆Tmax F-F) was calculated. Measurements were repeated 6–12 h after revascularization. Results: A total of 147 patients were included. Only 3 (2%) patients presented rest pain without sensory loss and motor deficit, while the majority were diagnosed with mild (63/147, 42.8%) or moderate (27/147, 18.3%) motor deficit. The temperature of the ischemic foot varied from 20 to 36.1°C, while median value of the temperature was 26.7 [24.5–29.9] °C on the dorsal surface and 26.8 [24.5–29.6] °C on the plantar surface of the foot (p = 0.85). Patients with Grade IIB ischemia had significantly lower dorsal foot temperature, plantar foot temperature, and larger ∆Tmax F-F than the patients with grades I–IIA: 25.1 [23.9–26.8] °C versus 29.9 [27.6–30.8] °C; 25.2 [23.8–27.5] °C versus 29.6 [28–31.1] °C; and 11.6 [9.7–12.8] °C versus 7.2 [6–9] °C (p < 0.0001). Areas under ROC curve for diagnosis of Grade IIB ischemia were similar for dorsal foot temperature (0.82), plantar temperature (0.81), and ∆Tmax F-F (0.82). The best cutoff value by Youden was ≥9.5°C for ∆Tmax F-F, ≤26.8°C for dorsal, and ≤27.7°C for plantar temperature. Criterion ∆Tmax F-F offered the highest specificity of 86% (95%CI 74.2–93.7) and positive predictive value of 89.2% (95%CI 79.5–93.2), while plantar temperature offered sensitivity of 82.5% (95%CI 70.1–91.3) and negative predictive value of 69.1% (95%CI 57.6–83.2). In multivariate analysis including age, gender, and etiology of arterial occlusion, the criterion ∆Tmax F-F of ≥9.5°C was a unique variable significantly associated with risk of amputation (adjusted OR 2.6, 95%CI 1.2–5.9, p = 0.01). Conclusion: Current study demonstrated that patients with immediately threatening ALI have significantly lower foot temperature than those with viable and marginally threatened limbs. Background: The development of microsurgical techniques has enabled reconstructive versatility in various clinical scenarios. Supermicrosurgery is an advanced microsurgical technique ensuring precise reconstructions by operating on small-caliber vessels and nerves, with applications in reconstructive surgeries. Objectives: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of four low-cost training models, thereby improving surgical precision and reducing the learning curve for novice surgeons. Materials and Methods: We conducted a prospective non-randomized study comparing the classic anastomosis technique, the intravascular stenting (IVaS) technique, the color contrast (CC) technique, and our newly introduced double-contrast (DC) technique, which combines IVaS with CC. We used a non-living experimental model represented by chicken wings, analyzing the vessel preparation and anastomosis time, anastomosis patency, and back wall biting through a standardized protocol. We performed 120 end-to-end anastomoses in total, with vessel diameters ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 mm. Results: CC demonstrated superior time efficiency and success rates, reaffirming it as a reliable option in supermicrosurgery, while DC showed slightly better time efficiency and patency compared to both IVaS alone and the classic method. CC outperformed the others in anastomosis time, patency, and back wall catching, reaffirming its reliability in supermicrosurgery. Conclusions: Although DC did not significantly improve patency, it reduced back wall engagement. This makes the DC technique beneficial for trainees working on vessels under 0.5 mm in diameter, where stenting is often required, improving surgical precision and reducing the learning curve, leading to better outcomes in supermicrosurgery. Background: Obesity represents a global epidemic associated with significant health risks, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Management strategies have evolved from focusing solely on weight reduction to emphasizing overall health improvements and mitigating associated risks. Methods: This narrative review analyzed the existing peer-reviewed literature across databases such as PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar to examine the outcomes of bariatric surgery and its interplay with weight stigma. The review incorporated data from clinical studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, focusing on bariatric surgery and its psychological impact, as well as approaches to mitigate stigma in bariatric care. Results: Bariatric surgery has emerged as the most effective intervention for sustained weight loss and the resolution of obesity-related comorbidities. However, individuals undergoing surgery frequently encounter weight stigma, both pre- and postoperatively, which manifests through discriminatory healthcare interactions, societal biases, and internalized self-criticism. These factors contribute to anxiety, depression, diminished healthcare engagement, and weight regain, ultimately affecting the long-term surgical outcomes. Conclusions: Addressing weight stigma in bariatric care is critical to optimizing outcomes. Interventions such as preoperative counseling, postoperative psychological support, and multidisciplinary care can mitigate the psychological and societal burdens of stigma. Concerns about environmental protection and sustainable consumption increased among Generation Z, as a consequence of more perceived risks emerging in the context of climate change and depletion of natural resources. The aim of the present research was to identify the main factors that influence the intention to purchase eco-products among the young generation. Quantitative marketing research was carried out on a sample of 269 Gen Z. The research results proved that purchasing intention for eco-products is strongly influenced by the perceived quality of environmentally friendly products, consumer consciousness about eco-products, perceived value of green products, and consumer trust in ecological products. Lower influences were recorded in terms of perceived price and perceived availability of eco-products, with improved total effects when considering the mediating role of eco-trust. This article discusses the findings of an experimental study designed to investigate the cutting forces encountered during the milling of asphalt pavement, considering the influence of cutter teeth wear. Experimental research was carried out for different values of wear, considered as a change in the shape of the active part of the tooth and a reduction in its height. The aspects studied continue the previous research of the authors regarding the study of cutting forces when milling asphalt pavement, using new milling teeth (without wear). Through this new study, the authors want to highlight how the phenomenon of wear influences the mechanical conditions of the chipping process and the efficiency of asphalt pavement processing. The experimental research was performed using an original stand, designed by the authors of the article, equipped with instruments for recording the values of the cutting force in the direction of advance. The experimental part is completed by the numerical modeling using the discrete element method (DEM). Research has shown that the increase in cutting forces is more pronounced at low advanced speed. Increasing the advanced speed leads to a reduction in differences between the cutting forces corresponding to the use or not of the milling tooth wear compensation. The problem of estimation the friction torque in operating miniature ball bearings lubricated with oil or grease is a complex one. Generally, in an angular contact ball bearing (ACBB), various types of losses can appear including losses caused by kinematics in ball-race contacts (rolling, sliding and pivoting), losses between the cage and the balls and between the cage and the guiding race and losses generated by lubricant, especially at high speeds. In the miniature ACBB, the applied loads have generally low values, and some losses can be ignored. In these circumstances, the most important contribution to the increase in the losses in miniature ACBB is the presence of the lubricant. In normal rolling bearings, the lubricant has an important contribution to decrease the losses and increase the reliability in miniature ball bearing; the lubricant (oil or grease) leads to the increase in the losses compared to the dry or limit lubrication conditions. The catalogues of various rolling bearing companies have not provided more details referring to the friction losses in miniature ball bearings. In order to evaluate the total friction torque in the rolling bearings, some empirical complex relations are presented via the SKF methodology, which can be applied only to moderate and high loads applied to the rolling bearings. Other empirical relations are presented by the Schaeffler catalogue. Based on previous experiments, the authors determined the friction torque in a 7000C ACBB with the spin-down method. The experimental results were correlated with the results obtained via the theoretical model developed by Houpert for IVR lubrication conditions. The theoretical results evidenced that the hydrodynamic rolling resistance generated by the lubricant is the most important component of the friction torque for 7000C ACBB. The experimental and theoretical results were compared to the results obtained according to the SKF and Schaeffler relations. In response to consumer demand for more sustainable and health-conscious products, the food sector is increasingly shifting towards the use of natural additives. Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana L.) is a medicinal plant that contains valuable biologically active compounds, including betacyanins, which serve as its red pigments, along with phenolic acids, flavonoids, polyphenolic compounds, and others. Phytolacca americana (P. americana) is a plant renowned for its bioactive compounds, which exhibit anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, antioxidant, anticancer, and antibacterial properties. This study investigates the potential of betalain pigments extracted from the berries of P. americana as a natural colorant for cheese formulation. The impact of these pigments on the color attributes, sensory qualities, and physicochemical and phytochemical composition of the cheeses was systematically evaluated. The Phytolacca americana (PA) powder demonstrated significant levels of total polyphenols (111.95 ± 1.60 mg GAE/g dw) and antioxidant activity (21.67 ± 0.19 µmol TE/g dw). The incorporation of PA powder increased the physicochemical and phytochemical contents and antioxidant activity in the final product (4.40 ± 0.22 µmol TE/g dw for CPAP1 and 6.11 ± 0.22 µmol TE/g dw for CPAP2). The sensory study revealed that the PA-supplemented cheeses were acceptable. The enhanced cheeses present a distinctive color profile, attracting health-conscious consumers looking for innovative dairy products. This study investigates the development and comprehensive characterization of innovative thermoresponsive gels incorporating rosemary essential oil (RoEO) encapsulated in poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microparticles, with a focus on their potential applications in topical antimicrobial and wound healing therapies. RoEO, renowned for its robust antimicrobial, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties, was subjected to detailed chemical profiling using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS), which identified oxygenated monoterpenes as its dominant constituents. PLGA microparticles were synthesized through an optimized oil-in-water emulsion technique, ensuring high encapsulation efficiency and structural integrity. These microparticles were thoroughly characterized using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to confirm functional group interactions, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for surface morphology, X-ray diffraction (XRD) for crystalline properties, and thermal analysis for stability assessment. The synthesized microparticles displayed uniform size distribution and efficient encapsulation, demonstrating compatibility with the gel matrix. Two distinct thermoresponsive gel formulations were developed using varying ratios of Poloxamer 407 and Poloxamer 188 to achieve optimal performance. The gels were evaluated for key physicochemical properties, including pH, gelation temperature, viscosity, and rheological behavior. Both formulations exhibited thermoresponsive gelation at skin-compatible temperatures (27.6 °C and 32.9 °C), favorable pH levels (6.63 and 6.40), and shear-thinning behavior suitable for topical application. Antimicrobial efficacy was assessed against common pathogens associated with skin infections, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. The RoEO-PLGA-loaded gels demonstrated significant inhibitory effects, confirming their potential as effective carriers for controlled and localized drug delivery. These findings underscore the promising application of RoEO-PLGA-loaded thermoresponsive gels in addressing challenges associated with topical antimicrobial therapies and wound care, offering an innovative approach to enhancing therapeutic outcomes. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are vital dietary elements that play a significant role in human nutrition. They are highly regarded for their positive contributions to overall health and well-being. Beyond the fact that they provide a substantial supply of energy to the body (a role that saturated fats can also perform), these unsaturated fatty acids and, especially, the essential ones are involved in cell membrane structure, blood pressure regulation, and coagulation; participate in the proper functioning of the immune system and assimilation of fat-soluble vitamins; influence the synthesis of pro- and anti-inflammatory substances; and protect the cardiovascular system. Modern diets like the Western diet and the American diet are rich in saturated fats found especially in fast food products, sweets, and processed foods, a fact that has led to an increase in the prevalence of metabolic diseases worldwide (obesity, type II diabetes, gout, cardiovascular disease). Nutritionists have drawn attention to the moderate consumption of saturated fats and the need to increase the intake of unsaturated fats to the detriment of saturated ones. This paper examines the biochemical roles of polyunsaturated fats, particularly essential fatty acids, and contrasts their benefits with the detrimental effects of saturated fat overconsumption. Furthermore, it highlights the necessity for dietary shifts towards increased PUFA intake to mitigate the global burden of diet-related health issues. The co-occurrence of PUFAs and polyphenols in plant-based foods highlights the sophistication of nature's design. These bioactive compounds are not randomly distributed but are present in foods humans have consumed together historically. Recent advancements in acute burn wound therapy are transforming the management of burn injuries, with a focus on improving healing times, graft integration, and minimizing complications. However, current clinical treatments face significant challenges, including the difficulty of accurately assessing wound depth and tissue viability, which can lead to suboptimal treatment planning. Traditional closure methods often struggle with issues such as delayed wound closure, limited graft survival, inadequate tissue regeneration, and insufficient vascularization. Furthermore, managing infection and minimizing scarring remain persistent obstacles, impacting functional recovery and aesthetic outcomes. Key areas of innovation include advanced imaging techniques that enable more precise assessment of wound depth, size, and tissue viability, allowing for more accurate treatment planning. In addition, new closure strategies are being developed to accelerate wound closure, enhance graft survival, and address challenges such as tissue regeneration, vascularization, and infection prevention. These strategies aim to optimize both functional recovery and aesthetic outcomes, reducing scarring and improving the quality of life for burn patients. While promising, these emerging techniques require further research and clinical validation to refine their effectiveness and expand their accessibility. Background and Objectives: Carcinoma ex-pleiomorphic adenoma (CXPA) is a carcinoma derived from a primary or recurrent pleiomorphic adenoma. Microscopically, non-invasive CXPA (intracapsular and carcinoma in situ), minimally invasive CXPA (extracapsular invasion less than 1.5 mm), and invasive CXPA (extracapsular invasion more than 1.5 mm) are described. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective clinical study over the period of 2009–2023 in patients admitted to the ENT Department of the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital. Results: In the studied group, there was a net male predominance of 2.5:1. The tumor evolution until presentation was 6.64 years on average, with values between 2 and 20 years. The reasons for presenting to our department included a sudden increase in size in eleven cases (78.57%), pain in nine cases (64.29%), peripheral facial paralysis in eight cases (57.14%), skin invasion/ulceration in five cases (35.71%), and massive tumor hemorrhage in one case (7.14%). There were histopathological results on paraffin of myoepithelial CXPA in four cases (28.57%), of high-grade CXPA (salivary duct, secretory) in eight cases (57.14%), and of squamous CXPA in two cases (14.29%). The patients with unfavorable evolution showed the following characteristics: a tumor diameter over 11 cm (four cases), integument invasion (four cases), perivascular invasion at HP exam (six cases), perineural invasion at HP exam (six cases), and invasion of the ganglion (three N3b cases and two N1 cases). Particular attention is given to the functional limitations, sensory deficits, aesthetic outcomes, and chronic pain associated with commonly utilized free flaps. Advancements in surgical techniques, including nerve-sparing and muscle-sparing methods, as well as innovations, like perforator flaps, have demonstrated the potential to mitigate these morbidities. Furthermore, the integration of regenerative medicine strategies, such as stem cell therapy and fat grafting, and technological innovations, including virtual reality rehabilitation and biofeedback devices, has shown promise in enhancing recovery and minimizing long-term complications. Despite these advances, challenges persist in standardizing QoL assessments and optimizing donor site management. Background/Objectives: Platinum-resistant ovarian cancer (PROC) is a major therapeutic challenge, as it responds poorly to standard platinum-based treatment, has limited treatment options, and offers a generally unfavorable prognosis. Chemotherapeutic agents like pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD), topotecan (TOPO), and gemcitabine (GEM) are used for this setting, but with varying efficacy and toxicity profiles, leading to an increasing need to understand the optimal balance between treatment effectiveness and tolerability for improving patient outcomes. This study evaluates the efficacy and side effects of PLD, TOPO, and GEM, focusing on progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and safety profiles. Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study that included 856 PROC patients treated with PLD (n = 383), TOPO (n = 352), or GEM (n = 121) at the OncoHelp Oncology Center from January 2018 to December 2023. Inclusion criteria encompass diagnosis, prior platinum therapy, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) status (0–2). Treatment protocols followed standard dosing, with adjustments for toxicity. Primary endpoints included PFS and OS, with safety assessed by incidence of grade 3 and 4 toxicities per CTCAE v5.0. Kaplan–Meier analysis and Cox regression were used to compare survival, and statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: TOPO showed higher toxicity than PLD and GEM, including liver damage, hematological and non-hematological side effects, while PLD induced more skin toxicity. In terms of survival, minor differences were seen between the three chemotherapeutic agents, with a slight advantage for PLD for better disease control. Origanum majorana L., also known as sweet marjoram, is a plant with multiple uses, both in the culinary field and traditional medicine, because of its major antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and digestive properties. In this research, we focused on the effects of O. majorana essential oil (OmEO, at concentrations of 25, 150, and 300 μL/L), evaluating chemical structure as well as its impact on cognitive performance and oxidative stress, in both naive zebrafish (Danio rerio), as well as in a scopolamine-induced amnesic model (SCOP, 100 μM). The fish behavior was analyzed in a novel tank-diving test (NTT), a Y-maze test, and a novel object recognition (NOR) test. We also investigated acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and the brain's oxidative stress status. In parallel, we performed in silico predictions (research conducted using computational models) of the pharmacokinetic properties of the main compounds identified in OmEO, using platforms such as SwissADME, pKCSM, ADMETlab 2.0, and ProTox-II. The results revealed that the major compounds were trans-sabinene hydrate (36.11%), terpinen-4-ol (17.97%), linalyl acetate (9.18%), caryophyllene oxide (8.25%), and α-terpineol (6.17%). OmEO can enhance memory through AChE inhibition, reduce SCOP-induced anxiety by increasing the time spent in the top zone in the NTT, and significantly reduce oxidative stress markers. These findings underscore the potential of using O. majorana to improve memory impairment and reduce oxidative stress associated with cognitive disorders, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). This manuscript highlights the behavior of biodegradable polymers (PLA and HD PLA Green) coated with two distinct bronze alloy powders, Metco 51F-NS (Cu 9.5Al 1.2Fe) and Metco 445 (Cu 9.5Al). The coating was realized on printed samples by using the Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) technique. The current investigation will explain the results related to the surface quality, micro-structure, morphology, and thermal and tribological properties. Thus, from a structural point of view, the most uniform deposition was obtained in the case of composite powder Metco 51F-NS. The thermal behavior of the samples coated with copper-based powder achieved stability up to temperatures slightly above 200 °C, with carbonization of the matrix structure taking place around 350 °C. The micro-indentation and scratch analysis responses were significantly influenced by the semicrystalline structure of the samples and the presence of the powder compounds. Based on the increased characteristics of the coated samples, the authors of the present paper consider that parts made of biodegradable polymers and coated with copper microparticles are appropriate for some applications which take place in adverse operating conditions. This research investigates the seismic behavior of rigid and flexible cylindrical steel tanks, focusing on tanks with an open top and fully anchored at the base. The primary objective is to evaluate the hydrodynamic pressures exerted by the fluid on the tank walls during seismic excitation. Three widely recognized design approaches—New Zealand NZSEE recommendations, European code UNI EN 1998-4:2006 (CEN, 2006), and American Water Works Association AWWA D100-05 standard (ANSI/AWWA, 2005)—were implemented and compared with high-definition finite element models and then validated against the experimental results. Nonlinear fluid–structure interaction (FSI) was modeled using an Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) formulation with the Navier–Stokes equations governing the fluid motion and material and geometric nonlinearities considered in the tank walls. Parametric analyses were conducted to investigate the impact of tank geometry, specifically height-to-radius and radius-to-thickness ratios, on seismic response, identifying a transition between rigid and flexible behavior. The study also examined the influence of seismic input using a set of ten displacement spectrum-compatible ground motions. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the seismic resilience of cylindrical steel tanks, offering valuable insights for improving design standards and safety in earthquake-prone regions where these systems may abound. Monkeypox virus is one of the major causes of both smallpox and cowpox infection in our society. It is typically located next to tropical rain forests in remote villages in Central and West Africa. The disease is brought on by the monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus and the Poxviridae family. For analysis and the dynamical behaviour of the monkeypox virus infection, we developed a fractional order model with the Mittag‐Leffler kernel. The uniqueness, positivity, and boundedness of the model are treated with fixed point theory results. A Lyapunov function is used to construct both local and global asymptotic stability of the system for both endemic and disease‐free equilibrium points. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out using the effective numerical scheme with an extended Mittag‐Leffler function to demonstrate the accuracy of the suggested approaches. This study explores the dynamics and interaction characteristics of multiple periodic soliton solutions within the AB system subject to vanishing boundary condition (VBC). Utilizing the bilinear method associated with tau functions from the extended KP hierarchy, the exact solution family corresponding to periodic solitons under VBC in the AB system is constructed. A notable difference between the single periodic soliton in the complex component A and the real component B lies in the relationship between its velocity and its amplitude. In component A, the relationship is nonlinear, whereas in component B, its velocity is directly proportional to its amplitude. The large-time asymptotic expressions of the multiple periodic soliton solutions, given by the sum of individual single periodic solitons under VBC, are explicitly derived to reveal their collision characteristic. Our findings demonstrate the robustness and intricate interaction patterns of periodic solitons under VBC, contributing to a deeper understanding of nonlinear periodic wave dynamics in infinite domains. Diabetes is a complex condition with a rising global incidence, and its impact is equally evident in pediatric practice. Regardless of whether we are dealing with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, the development of complications following the onset of the disease is inevitable. Consequently, contemporary medicine must concentrate on understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms driving systemic decline and on finding ways to address them. We are particularly interested in the effects of oxidative stress on target cells and organs, such as pancreatic islets, the retina, kidneys, and the neurological or cardiovascular systems. Our goal is to explore, using the latest data from international scientific databases, the relationship between oxidative stress and the development or persistence of systemic damage associated with diabetes in children. Additionally, we highlight the beneficial roles of antioxidants such as vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, and other bioactive molecules; in mitigating the pathogenic cascade, detailing how they intervene and their bioactive properties. As a result, our study provides a comprehensive exploration of the key aspects of the oxidative stress-antioxidants-pediatric diabetes triad, expanding understanding of their significance in various systemic diseases. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive primary brain tumour, exhibits low survival rates due to its rapid growth, infiltrates surrounding brain tissue, and is highly resistant to treatment. One major challenge is oedema infiltration, a fluid build-up that provides a path for cancer cells to invade other areas. MRI resolution is insufficient to detect these infiltrating cells, leading to relapses despite chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In this work, we propose a new multiscale mathematical modelling method, to explore the oedema infiltration and predict tumour relapses. To address tumour relapses, we investigated several possible scenarios for the distribution of remaining GBM cells within the oedema after surgery. Furthermore, in this computational modelling investigation on tumour relapse scenarios were investigated assuming the presence of clinically relevant chemo-radio therapy, numerical results suggest that a higher concentration of GBM cells near the surgical cavity edge led to limited spread and slower progression of tumour relapse. Finally, we explore mathematical and computational avenues for reconstructing relevant shapes for the initial distributions of GBM cells within the oedema from available MRI scans. The results obtained show good overlap between our simulation and the patient's serial MRI scans taken 881 days into the treatment. The ground-based characterization of asteroids is a key step for planning their exploration. The near-Earth asteroid 155140 (2005 UD) is a potential flyby target of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's DESTINY + (Demonstration and Experiment of Space Technology for INterplanetary voYage with Phaethon fLyby and dUst Science) mission, while (612267) 2001 SG286 has been considered as a possible target for in-situ exploration. We aim to determine their physical properties using the observations obtained with various telescopes from Canary Islands Observatory. For 2005 UD, we confirmed the two peak light curve, a rotation period of 5.224 |$\pm$| 0.003 h and an amplitude of 0.34 mag. However, a three peak solution seemed also to fit the light curve, but this was discarded as implausible. Using the obtained visible to near-infrared spectrum we classified it as a Cb type, and we found a spectral matching with heated carbonaceous chondrite meteorites of CM2 type. The thermal emission flux at 2.2  |$\mu \mathrm{ m}$| points to an albedo of |$p_V = 0.06~\pm ~0.02$|⁠. There are significant differences in the spectrum of 2005 UD compared to that of (3200) Phaeton, hypothesized as its parent body. The accurate visible spectrum obtained with the Gran Telescopio Canarias indicate that 2001 SG286 is an S-type asteroid. The photometric data obtained with Isaac Newton Telescope suggest a rotation period of 12.30 |$\pm$| 0.01 h and an amplitude of 0.64 mag. With these observations we found its absolute magnitude |$H$|  = 21.4 |$\pm$| 0.3, and estimate its size as 160 |$\pm$| 45 m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper starts by describing the manufacturing process of cups thermoformed from extruded foils of 80% recycled PET (80r-PET), which comprises heating, hot deep drawing and cooling. The 80r-PET foils were heated up to 120 °C, at heating rates of the order of hundreds °C/min, and deep drawn with multiple punchers, having a depth-to-width ratio exceeding 1:1. After puncher-assisted deformation, the cups were air blown away from the punchers, thus being "frozen" in the deformed state. Due to the high cooling rate, most of the polymer's structure reached a rigid, glassy state, the internal stresses that tended to recover the flat undeformed state were blocked and the polymer remained in a temporary cup form. When heating was applied, glass transition occurred, and the polymer reached a rubbery state and softened. This softening process released the blocked internal stresses and the polymer tended to recover its flat permanent shape. This relative volume contraction quantitatively describes the shape memory effect (SME) which can be obtained either with free recovery (FR-SME) or with work generation (WG-SME) when the cups lifted their bottoms with different loads placed inside them. The paper discusses the results obtained by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), room-temperature tensile failure tests (TENS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The DSC charts emphasized a glass transition, responsible for SME occurrence. The DMA thermograms and the TENS curves revealed that there are slight differences between the storage modulus and the tensile strains of the specimens cut on longitudinal, transversal, or 45° to the film rolling direction. The SEM micrographs enabled to observe structural differences between the specimens cut parallelly and transversally to the film's rolling direction. The thermoformed cups were heated on a special experimental setup, which enabled the determination of FR-SME and WG-SME after applying different maximum temperatures and loads placed into the cups, respectively. Designing new engineered materials derived from waste is essential for effective environmental remediation and reducing anthropogenic pollution in our economy. This study introduces an innovative method for remediating metal-contaminated water, using two distinct waste types: one biowaste (eggshell) and one industrial waste (fly ash). We synthesized three novel, cost-effective nanoadsorbent types, including two new tertiary composites and two biopolymer-based composites (specifically k-carrageenan and chitosan), which targeted chromium removal from aqueous solutions. SEM analysis reveals that in the first composite, EMZ, zeolite, and magnetite nanoparticles are successfully integrated into the porous structure of the eggshell. In the second composite (FMZ), fly ash and magnetite particles are similarly loaded within the zeolite pores. Each biopolymer-based composite is derived by incorporating the corresponding tertiary composite (FMZ or EMZ) into the biopolymer framework. Structural modifications of the eggshell, zeolite, chitosan, and k-carrageenan resulted in notable increases in specific surface area, as confirmed by BET analysis. These enhancements significantly improve chromium adsorption efficiency for each adsorbent type developed. The adsorption performances achieved are as follows: EMZ (89.76%), FMZ (84.83%), EMZCa (96.64%), FMZCa (94.87%), EMZC (99.64%), and FMZC (97.67%). The findings indicate that chromium adsorption across all adsorbent types occurs via a multimolecular layer mechanism, which is characterized as spontaneous and endothermic. Desorption studies further demonstrate the high reusability of these nanomaterials. Overall, this research underscores the potential of utilizing waste materials for new performant engineered low-cost composites and biocomposites for environmental bioremediation applications. We demonstrate that higher-order vortex solitons (with larger vortex charges m) in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with cubic (defocusing Kerr) nonlinearity can be stabilized by the action of a flat-bottom potential. Such a model can also support the common fundamental (vorticityless) solitons, including the Gaussian-like and flat-top solitons. The effective radii of the fundamental and vortex solitons can be modified by tuning the radius of the flat-bottom part of the potential. We display the contours and phases of vortex solitons with vorticity numbers up to m = 12 . Interestingly, the central holes of vortex solitons increase with the increase of vortex charges, and the central portions of these higher-order vortices become flat. We investigate the existence and stability of both the fundamental and vortex solitons, for different values of the relevant model parameters: the radius of the flat bottom, initial beam power, propagation constant, and the strength of nonlinearity. We also consider the propagation of perturbed initial beams, as well as the propagation in longitudinally modulated flat-bottom potentials. Such a modulated propagation allows for an easy soliton management. We find that the fundamental solitons are completely stable, while the higher-order vortex solitons are prone to the modulation instability, degenerating into m simple vortices that fly away from the inside to the outside of solitons. Background Recently, face mask sampling (FMS) confirmed detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA from exhaled breath in adults with tuberculosis. To date, no study has evaluated the use of FMS to detect pulmonary tuberculosis in children. We developed a method for FMS of M. tuberculosis- specific DNA in children and performed a clinical exploration to assess feasibility in children. Methods Face masks were spiked, analyzed on GeneXpert-Ultra, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and targeted next-generation sequencing. Children with pulmonary tuberculosis were asked to wear 3 modified FFP2 masks for 30 minutes as part of an exploratory clinical study. Results Experiments with H37Ra M. tuberculosis strain showed a limit of 95% detection of 3.75 colony-forming units (95% confidence interval, 4.85–3.11) on GeneXpert-Ultra. Ten children with pulmonary tuberculosis participated in the clinical study. M. tuberculosis -specific DNA was detected on none of the face masks. Conclusions Pediatric FMS has a low limit of detection for M. tuberculosis -specific DNA in vitro. However, M. tuberculosis DNA was not detected in any of 30 masks worn by children with pulmonary tuberculosis. Background: Understanding the interactions between age and comorbidities is crucial for assessing COVID-19 mortality, particularly in patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions. This study investigates the relationship between comorbidities and mortality outcomes in a cohort of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, emphasizing the interplay of age, cardiac, and pulmonary conditions. Methods: We analyzed a cohort of 3005 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 between 2020 and 2022. Key variables included age, comorbidities (diabetes, cardiac, pulmonary, and neoplasms), and clinical outcomes. Chi-square tests and logistic regression models were used to assess the association between comorbidities and mortality. Stratified analyses by age, diabetes, and pulmonary conditions were conducted to explore interaction effects. Additionally, interaction terms were included in multivariable logistic regression models to evaluate the combined impact of age, comorbidities, and mortality. Results: Cardiac conditions such as hypertension, ischemic cardiopathy, and myocardial infarction showed significant protective effects against mortality in younger patients and in those without pulmonary conditions (p < 0.001). However, these protective effects were diminished in older patients and those with pulmonary comorbidities. Age was found to be a significant modifier of the relationship between cardiac conditions and mortality, with a stronger protective effect observed in patients under the median age (p < 0.001). Pulmonary comorbidities significantly increased the risk of mortality, particularly when co-occurring with cardiac conditions (p < 0.001). Diabetes did not significantly modify the relationship between cardiac conditions and mortality. Conclusions: The findings highlight the complex interactions between age, cardiac conditions, and pulmonary conditions in predicting COVID-19 mortality. Younger patients with cardiac comorbidities show a protective effect against mortality, while pulmonary conditions increase mortality risk, especially in older patients. This review aims to address the significant challenges of treating central nervous system (CNS) disorders such as neurodegenerative diseases, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and brain tumors. These disorders are difficult to manage due to the complexity of disease mechanisms and the protective blood–brain barrier (BBB), which restricts drug delivery. Recent advancements in nanoparticle (NP) technologies offer promising solutions, with potential applications in drug delivery, neuroprotection, and neuroregeneration. By examining current research, we explore how NPs can cross the BBB, deliver medications directly to targeted CNS regions, and enhance both diagnostics and treatment. Key NP strategies, such as passive targeting, receptor-mediated transport, and stimuli-responsive systems, demonstrate encouraging results. Studies show that NPs may improve drug delivery, minimize side effects, and increase therapeutic effectiveness in models of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke, and glioblastoma. NP technologies thus represent a promising approach for CNS disorder management, combining drug delivery and diagnostic capabilities to enable more precise and effective treatments that could significantly benefit patient outcomes. Temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) devices are a critical component for treating patients with cardiogenic shock (CS). We analyzed use of Impella 5.5 device for efficacy and safety in a single‐center CS population from February 2022 and April 2023. Thirty‐six CS patients received Impella 5.5 support for a median duration of 16 (2, 63) days, during a median hospital stay of 40 (4, 97) days, with an overall survival (OS) of 69%. While 18 patients received Impella 5.5 only, 11 patients received Impella 5.5 as part of a de‐escalation strategy, and 7 patients escalated from Impella CP only to Impella 5.5. At the time of implant, creatinine was 1.5 (0.6, 5.2) mg/dL and normalized to 1.1 (0.6, 7.7) mg/dL at discharge. In a subset of CS transfer patients (n = 12), median duration of support was 16 (1, 31) days, duration of hospital stay was 43 (8, 88) days, and OS was 67% (8/12). Collectively, these data demonstrate that Impella 5.5 support is safe and effectively improves laboratory values and survival outcomes in both transfer and in‐house patients with CS. This paper examined the features of an infection therapy for fractional-order quarry-hunter systems in order to control sickness. It focused especially on how illnesses and several populations combine to affect how well harvesting policies work. We created a new dynamic model full of such ideas by examining systems with fractional-order non-integer systems and introducing fractional-order systems that can remember in order to comprehend that specific system. These thresholds are essential for directing management strategies, according to research on the presence, uniqueness, and stability of solutions to these models. Additionally, we presented particular MATLAB-based numerical methods for fractional-order model. Through a series of numerical application experiments, we validated the method's efficacy and its value in guiding strategy modifications regarding harvesting rates in the face of epidemic infections. This demonstrates the necessity of using a fractional approach in ecosystem research in order to improve the methods used for resource management. Brain changes lead to behavior that confuses and frustrates them, they become aggressive or withdrawn when they are in a group or refuse to participate in various activities or sports games. These children usually have difficulty interpreting images, sounds, and the sensations of touch or movement, are disturbed by bright lights, and get upset if they are touched or moved unexpectedly. Occupational therapy is the profession that is based on the idea that occupation can be successfully used to prevent or improve dysfunctions of the human body, thus facilitating participation to a greater degree of independence in activities in which the individual feels motivated and respected. Occupational therapy interventions are multiple in the sensory desynchronization of children with autism spectrum disorder, however, caution is very important when considering an intervention that has limited or no research evidence. Interventions are only applied following the existence of appropriate evidence for the particular situation. Gap solitons in two types of cubic-quintic nonlinear media—the competing focusing-defocusing and the cooperative focusing-focusing types—are studied in this work. We discover two families of two-dimensional solitons in the semi-infinite band gap of a PT-symmetric lattice under the cubic-quintic nonlinearity and fractional diffraction. The existence and stability domains of dipole and tripole solitons are examined for different values of various parameters. Interestingly, the Lévy index does not affect much the value of the phase transformation point in the model, but affects more strongly the stability regions of both types of solitons. In the literature on emigration, the challenges of integration at the destination are largely discussed. How do those who become immigrants change or not and what is the impact of their inclusion in the arrival communities? It is less discussed what happens in the communities of emigration, in the country of origin. For the communities from which emigrants have gone abroad, research has been done especially on the causes of emigration. The consequences of emigration were seen especially at the level of the families leaving, on the children and elderly left behind. Community consequences as a result of emigration, are either neglected, treated through case studies or approached piecemeal, with a focus on ageing, etc. But what if we are interested in all the communities of origin, comparing those with many, few or no emigrants? The four hypotheses of the research relate the intensity of emigration from the locality and the option of emigration destinations (Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Great Britain) with different facets of development processes in the communities of origin, about seven years after emigration. The facets are given by the intensity of polarised poverty-development phenomena and their components (state of health, material capital in the community and socio-human capital). A whole series of phenomena are estimated and introduced into the analysis to contextualise the relations between emigration and poverty-development levels of origin communities (previous development, urban accessibility, residence environment, community involvement in temporary internal emigration processes, etc.). What is the impact of emigration on the well-being or levels of poverty development in origin communities? In this study, we investigate novel fractional tuberculosis model with Caputo fractional derivative. The computational solution of the fractional tuberculosis disease is obtained with the help of the generalized Euler's method (GEM). This article considers two treatment strategies: protective treatment for latent populations and main treatment for infected ones. The compartmental structure of the six-dimensional model includes the susceptible, latent, infected, recovered, and treatment classes. To examine the nature of differential equations of fractional order that arise in biological illness, the findings produced utilizing the method under consideration are more accurate and straightforward. The novel coronavirus SARS-Cov-2 is a pandemic condition and poses a massive menace to health. The governments of different countries and their various prohibitory steps to restrict the virus's expanse have changed individuals' communication processes. Due to physical and financial factors, the population's density is more likely to interact and spread the virus. We establish a mathematical model to present the spread of the COVID-19 in worldwide. In this article, we propose a novel mathematical model (' $ \mathbb {S}\mathbb {L}\mathbb {I}\mathbb {I}_{q}\mathbb {I}_{h}\mathbb {R}\mathbb {P} $ S L I I q I h R P ') to assess the impact of using hospitalization, quarantine measures, and pathogen quantity in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. We analyse the boundedness of the model's solution by employing the Laplace transform approach to solve the fractional Gronwall's inequality. To ensure the uniqueness and existence of the solution, we rely on the Picard-Lindelof theorem. The model's basic reproduction number, a crucial indicator of epidemic potential, is determined based on the greatest eigenvalue of the next-generation matrix. We then employ stability theory of fractional differential equations to qualitatively examine the model. Our findings reveal that both locally and globally, the endemic equilibrium and disease-free solutions demonstrate symptomatic stability. In this article, we investigate a mathematical malaria-filariasis co-infection model with the assistance of the non-integer order operator. Using the fractal-fractional operator in the Caputo-Fabrizio (CF) sense, it has been possible to understand the dynamical behaviour and complicatedness of the malaria-filariasis model. An investigation of the existence and uniqueness of the solution employs fixed-point theory. Ulam-Hyers stability helps examine the stability analysis of the proposed co-infection model. The malaria-filariasis model has been investigated using the Toufik-Atanagana (TA), a sophisticated numerical method for these biological co-infection models. With the help of numerical procedures, we provide the approximate solutions for the proposed model. A variety of fractal dimension and fractional order options are utilized for the presentation of the results. When we adjust sensitive parameters like τ and γ, the graphical representation illustrates the system's behaviour and identifies suitable parameter ranges for solutions. Background/Objectives: Chronic inflammation and psychosocial factors significantly influence cancer progression and patient behavior in seeking medical care. Understanding their interplay is essential for enhancing early detection and developing personalized treatment strategies. This study aims to develop a comprehensive patient profiling model by comparing non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) and colorectal cancer (CRC). The goal is to identify common and distinct patterns in inflammation and psychosocial factors that affect disease progression and clinical presentation. Methods: We conducted a comparative analysis of patients diagnosed with NMSC and CRC, integrating clinical data with sociodemographic and psychological assessments. Advanced neural network algorithms were employed to detect subtle patterns and interactions among these factors. Based on the analysis, a cancer risk assessment questionnaire was developed to stratify patients into low-, moderate-, and high-risk categories. Results: Patients with low systemic inflammation and adequate vagal tone, supported by a stable family environment, demonstrated heightened sensitivity to subclinical symptoms, enabling earlier diagnosis and timely intervention. Conversely, patients with high systemic inflammation and reduced vagal tone, often influenced by chronic stress and unstable family environments, presented at more advanced disease stages. The developed risk assessment tool effectively classified patients into distinct risk categories, facilitating targeted preventive measures and personalized therapeutic strategies. Neural network profiling revealed significant interactions between biological and psychosocial factors, enhancing our understanding of their combined impact on cancer progression. Conclusions: The integrated profiling approach and the newly developed risk assessment questionnaire have the potential to transform cancer management by improving early detection, personalizing treatment strategies, and addressing psychosocial factors. This model not only enhances clinical outcomes and patient quality of life but also offers a framework adaptable to other cancer types, promoting a holistic and patient-centered approach in oncology. Background: There are no clinical or laboratory markers that can diagnose acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) accurately. This study aimed to find differences in clinical and laboratory markers between arterial occlusive AMI and other acute abdominal diseases where AMI was initially suspected. Methods: This was a post hoc study of an international prospective multicenter study where data on patients with suspected AMI were collected. Independent factors associated with arterial occlusive AMI were evaluated in a multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results: The number of patients with arterial occlusive AMI was 231, consisting of thrombotic (n = 104), embolic (n = 61), and indeterminate (n = 66) occlusions. The non-AMI group included 287 patients, of whom 128 had strangulated bowel obstruction. Current smoking (odds ratio [OR] 2.56, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.31–5.03), hypertension (OR 2.08, 95% CI 1.09–3.97), bowel emptying (OR 3.25, 95% CI 1.59–6.63), and leukocytosis (OR 1.54, 95% CI 1.14–2.08) at admission were independently associated with arterial occlusive AMI compared to the non-AMI group. Conclusions: This study found clinical and laboratory data to be associated with arterial occlusive AMI in patients with suspicion of AMI, which can possibly be of value in screening for arterial occlusive AMI at the emergency department. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified concerns over bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance, particularly in Romania. This systematic review explores bacterial infection patterns and resistance during the pandemic to address critical gaps in knowledge. Methods: A systematic review, following PRISMA guidelines, was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Scopus, focusing on studies of bacterial infections from 2020 to 2022. Articles on bacterial infections in Romanian patients during the pandemic were analyzed for demographic data, bacterial trends, and resistance profiles. Results: A total of 87 studies were included, detailing over 20,000 cases of bacterial infections. The review found that Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, were the most frequently identified pathogens, alongside Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus spp. Multidrug resistance (MDR) was noted in 24% of the reported strains, with common resistance to carbapenems and cephalosporins. Conclusions: The pandemic has amplified the complexity of managing bacterial infections, particularly in critically ill patients. The rise in MDR bacteria underscores the need for stringent antimicrobial stewardship and infection control measures. Continuous monitoring of bacterial trends and resistance profiles will be essential to improve treatment strategies in post-pandemic healthcare settings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
