This paper proposes a sparse array consisting of two separate generalized nested arrays. The unit element-spacing of each generalized nested array can be adjusted to multiple half-wavelengths of the incident signal. By adjusting the element-spacing, the mutual coupling effect can be greatly reduced. For this array, a direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method of quasi-stationary signals has also been proposed. By using the received signals of the separated generalized nested array, a signal subspace is obtained. Then, this subspace is filled into a higher-order signal subspace to avoid angle ambiguity. Using the higher-order signal subspace, DOAs of all signals can be estimated by spectral peak search. In this paper, an unambiguous two-dimensional (2D) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm based on a large-space L-shaped array is proposed. The proposed L-shaped array is composed of two large-space linear arrays. Each linear array consists of two uniform linear arrays with internal element spacing being larger than half wavelength of incident signal. Firstly, an unambiguous modified estimation of signal parameter via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT) algorithm is proposed to estimate the elevation angles. Then, using the estimated elevation angles, automatically matched azimuth angles can be estimated. On account of the adjustable element spacing, the proposed array is robust to mutual coupling effect. Moreover, simulation results can prove that the proposed algorithm has higher estimation accuracy than many similar 2D DOA estimation algorithms based on L-shaped array. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Arranging multiple identical sub-arrays in a special way can enhance degrees of freedom (DOFs) and obtain a hole-free difference co-array (DCA). In this paper, by adjusting the interval of adjacent sub-arrays, a kind of generalized array architecture with larger aperture is proposed. Although some holes may exist in the DCA of the proposed array, they are distributed uniformly. Utilizing the partial continuity of the DCA, an extended covariance matrix can be constructed. Singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to obtain an extended signal sub-space, by which the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for quasi-stationary signals is given. In order to eliminating angle ambiguity caused by the holes of DCA, the estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT) is used to construct a matrix that includes all angle information. Utilizing this matrix, a secondary extended signal sub-space can be obtained. This signal sub-space is corresponding to a hole-free DCA. Then, dealing with the further extended signal sub-space by multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm, the unambiguous DOAs of all incident signals can be estimated. Some simulation results are shown to prove the improved performance of proposed generalized array architecture in DOA estimation and the effectiveness of corresponding hole-repair algorithm in eliminating angle ambiguity. In this paper a grade nested array constituted by a uniform linear array and a grade linear array with uniformly increasing inter-element is presented. The closed-form expression of the proposed array geometries and corresponding direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm are derived. Theory analysis certifies that the proposed grade nested array can provide higher degrees of freedom (DOF) than some existing nested arrays. Recent advances in the preparation of shape-shifting and size-growing nanostructures are hot topics in development of nanoscience, because many intelligent functions are always relied on their shape and dimension. Here we report a tunable manipulation of sequential self- assembled transformation in situ via a hierarchical assembly strategy based on a living thiol-disulfide exchange reaction. By tailoring the external stimuli, the reactive points can be generated at the ends of initially unimolecular micelles, which subsequently drive the preassemblies to periodically proceed into the hierarchically micellar connection, axial growth, bending, and cyclization processes from nanoscopic assemblies to macroscopic particles. Of particular interest would be systems that acquired the shape control and size adjustment of self-assemblies after termination or reactivation of disulfide reshuffling reaction by regulating external stimuli whenever needed. Such a hierarchical strategy for self-assembled evolution is universally applicable not only for other disulfide-linked dendritic polymers but also for exploitation of biological applications. The research on the supramolecular hyperbranched polymers (SHPs) that combines the advantages of supramolecular polymer and hyperbranched architecture has attracted considerable interests in many applications. Here we demonstrate a simple approach to prepare POSS-embedded supramolecular hyperbranched polymers (POSS-SHPs) with varied morphology and size by controlling monomer concentration and mixed solvents. Three alkyl-polypeptide hybrid amphiphiles were synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of γ-(2-methoxyethoxy)esteryl-L-glutamate N-carboxyanhydride (L-EG[sub 1]G1u NCA) using alkylamine, i.e. C[sub 6]H[sub 13]NH[sub 2], C[sub 14]H[sub 29]NH[sub 2], and C[sub 16]H[sub 33]NH[sub 2], as initiators. As-prepared alkyl-poly-L-EG[sub 1]Glu hybrids were found to form clear organogels in several organic solvents at low concentration. FTIR and circular dichroism characterizations suggested that poly-L-EG[sub 1]Glu formed a predominantly β-sheet conformation, which accounted for the gelation.
