Despite the increasing number of super-sprint events on the World Triathlon calendar over the last years, there is no scientific evidence about the performance determinants of this discipline. The present study described the race strategies of young international triathletes during super-sprint triathlon races and examined the influence of each segment on the final race outcome. Race data from the eight super-sprint triathlon events organised by World Triathlon in 2022 (all Continental Cups or Championships) were analysed for a total of 305 men and 268 women participants from junior and youth categories. Running performance showed the greatest correlation with finishing position (r = 0.89), followed by the cycling (r = 0.84) and swimming (r = 0.69) segments. Number of race packs increased through the race with no differences between males and females races. Medallists showed partial positioning within the Top-8 positions for the whole races and with gap times no longer than 12 seconds for both men and women. In addition, their running velocities were faster than the non-successful triathletes with no differences in the remaining race segments. Successful triathletes in super-sprint races seem to maintain a controlled gap from the race leaders during the swimming and cycling segments to optimise performance on the critical running segment. Chinese cities are increasingly developing exclusive bicycle paths to improve the safety and efficiency of bicycle transit. The width of bikeways is a critical factor influencing cyclists' safety and comfort, with insufficient width identified as a major contributor to bicycle accidents. Therefore, determining the minimum operational width for human-powered bicycles is essential for bikeway design. While some countries' design manuals consider speed as a factor in determining width, there is a lack of field experiments to validate these specifications from the perspective of cyclists' safety and comfort. This study addresses this gap by conducting a field experiment to measure cycling workload, which reflects safety and comfort under different widths and cycling speeds. The experiment involved 12 cyclists on a test road, where cycling workload was measured at various preset widths and cycling speeds for a single human-powered cyclist. The results were further validated using conventional lateral distance measurement techniques, which are used in the existing literature to determine the cycling width. The results show that wider bikeway widths lead to a lower cycling workload, enhancing comfort and safety. However, both very high (over 20 km/h) and very low (under 5 km/h) speeds significantly increase cyclists' workload, which in turn requires a wider path to maintain a safe and comfortable cycling experience. The study found that a minimum width of 0.90 m may be adequate for cyclists traveling at speeds between 10 and 15 km/h, while a width of 1.0 m is sufficient for speeds ranging from 5 km/h to 25 km/h, provided the bicycle width does not exceed 0.62 m. Given that cyclists typically progress from slower to faster speeds, a minimum operational width of 1.0 m is recommended for most cases. This study highlights the importance of considering cyclists' workload in determining appropriate bikeway widths. Road cycling races, such as the Tour de France, captivate millions of viewers globally, combining competitive sportsmanship with the promotion of regional landmarks. Traditionally, points of interest (POIs) are highlighted during broadcasts using manually created static overlays, a process that is both outdated and labor-intensive. This paper presents a novel, fully automated methodology for detecting and tracking POIs in live helicopter video streams, aiming to streamline the visualization workflow and enhance viewer engagement. Our approach integrates a saliency and Segment Anything-based technique to propose potential POI regions, which are then recognized using a keypoint matching method that requires only a few reference images. This system supports both automatic and semi-automatic operations, allowing video editors to intervene when necessary, thereby balancing automation with manual control. The proposed pipeline demonstrated high effectiveness, achieving over 75% precision and recall in POI detection, and offers two tracking solutions: a traditional MedianFlow tracker and an advanced SAM 2 tracker. While the former provides speed and simplicity, the latter delivers superior segmentation tracking, albeit with higher computational demands. Our findings suggest that this methodology significantly reduces manual workload and opens new possibilities for interactive visualizations, enhancing the live viewing experience of cycling races. Enhancing the energy density of layered oxide cathode materials is of great significance for realizing high‐performance sodium‐ion batteries and promoting their commercial application. Lattice oxygen redox at high voltage usually enables a high capacity and energy density. But the structural degradation, severe voltage decay, and the resultant poor cycling performance caused by irreversible oxygen release seriously restrict the practical application. Herein we introduce a novel fence‐type superstructure (2a×3a type supercell) into O3‐type layered cathode material Na0.9Li0.1Ni0.3Mn0.3Ti0.3O2 and achieve a stable cycling performance at a high voltage of 4.4 V. The fence‐type superstructure effectively inhibits the formation of the vacancy clusters resulting from out‐of‐plane Li migration and in‐plane transition metal migration at high voltage due to the wide d‐spacing, thereby significantly reducing the irreversible release of lattice oxygen and greatly stabilizing the crystal structure. The cathode exhibits a high energy density of 545 Wh kg−1, a high rate capability (112.8 mAh g−1 at 5 C) and a high cycling stability (85.8 %@200 cycles with a high initial capacity of 148.6 mAh g−1 at 1 C) accompanied by negligible voltage attenuation (98.5 %@200 cycles). The core autocatalytic cycle of the formose reaction may be enhanced or eroded by the presence of simple molecules at life's origin. Utilizing quantum chemistry, we calculate the thermodynamics and kinetics of reactions both within the core cycle and those that deplete the reactants and intermediates, such as the Cannizzaro reaction. We find that via disproportionation of aldehydes into carboxylic acids and alcohols, the Cannizzaro reaction furnishes simple catalysts for a variety of reactions. We also find that ammonia can catalyze both in-cycle and Cannizzaro reactions while hydrogen sulfide does not; both, however, play a role in sequestering reactants and intermediates in the web of potential reactions. Temperature and humidity cycling during frequent startup-shutdown of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell (PEMFC) can lead to crack formation in the catalyst layer (CL) or even at the interface between the CL and PEM, decreasing the effective activation area and degrading the fuel cell performance. This study develops a two-dimensional PEMFC model using COMSOL software which is well validated, and investigates the effect of different lengths and positions of CL/PEM interface crack (delamination) on the mass transport and performance of PEMFC. The results show that both the crack length and position have significant influence on the cell performance, especially at high current density. The presence of crack leads to an uneven distribution of cell current density, and the performance of the cell decreases with the increase of the crack length due to decreased activation area. The crack near the inlet has the greatest adverse impact on the cell performance, compared to other positions near the outlet or in the middle of the rib. Compared to the cell without cracks, the decrement in current density is 5.05%, 9.55% and 15.52%, respectively, for the crack in the middle of the rib, near the outlet and near the inlet. Aqueous zinc ion batteries hold promise as alternative systems to lithium‐based batteries. However, practical development faces critical challenges due to parasitic side reactions and dendrite growth in zinc anodes. While introducing electrolyte additives is promising, monofunctional additives offer limited protection to the zinc anode from a single aspect. Herein, a disodium succinate additive is presented to establish a hydrophobic and zincophilic dual electric layer structure on the Zn surface, regulate the solvation structure of Zn2+, and act as a pH buffer during cycling. As a result, the symmetrical cell with an electrolyte containing 0.2 m SADS shows a durable life of over 2200 h, and the Zn||MnO2 full cell still maintains an 80% capacity retention after 1000 cycles. In addition, SADS both show wide applicability in the match with NVO and I2 cathode. Silver (Ag) is deemed a promising anode material for capacitive deionization (CDI) due to its high theoretical capacity and efficient selectivity to Cl−. However, the strong volume change during the conversion reaction significantly undermines the cycling performance of the Ag electrode. Additionally, achieving well‐dispersed Ag in the active matrix is challenging, as Ag electrodes prepared by conventional thermal reduction tend to agglomerate. Herein, the organic linker confinement strategy is proposed, applying metal–organic framework (MOF) chemistry between Ag nodes and organic ligands to construct Ag‐based MOF. The uniform dispersion of Ag at the molecular level, confined in the organic matrix, efficiently enhances the utilization of active sites, and strengthens the interfacial stability of Ag. Consequently, the Ag‐MOF for the CDI anode exhibits an excellent Cl− removal capacity of 121.52 mg g−1 at 20 mA g−1 in 500 mg L−1 NaCl solution, and a high Ag utilization rate of 60.54%. After 100 cycles, a capacity retention of 96.93% is achieved. Furthermore, the Cl− capture mechanism of Ag‐MOF is elucidated through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, ex situ XRD, ex situ Raman and XPS. Featured Application: Improving cornering skill has the potential to improve overall cycling performance. However, clinically used balance tests do not reflect cornering performance. More cycling-specific balance tests need to be developed to better assess cycling performance. Balance is paramount to safe and successful cycling, both in competition and recreation. Balance has been investigated in the return-to-cycling context, but its relationship to cycling performance is unknown. Our study aimed to analyse the relationship between balance, measured by common clinical balance tests, and cycling performance. Seven competitive cyclists participated in this cross-sectional correlational study. We collected field-based measures of cycling performance, including mean velocity, minimum and maximum velocity, mean corner speed, average lap time, and lean angle. Also, we measured balance via the balance error scoring system, the star excursion balance test, the lateral reach test, and the modified Bass test of dynamic balance. Strong correlations between cornering performance and cycling performance (r = 0.65–0.87, p < 0.01) were detected. Weak correlations between clinical balance tests and cycling performance (r = 0.33–0.53, p < 0.05) were observed. In conclusion, our study showed that improving cornering performance has the potential to improve overall cycling performance. We also found no clear correlations between our clinical balance tests and cycling performance. These weak correlations between postural control in standing and cycling performance suggest that standing balance and balancing during cycling are distinct motor control processes. The short-term scaling exponent alpha1 of detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA-a1) of heart rate variability (HRV) has been shown to be a sensitive marker for assessing global organismic demands. The wide dynamic range within the exercise intensity spectrum and the relationship to established physiologic threshold boundaries potentially allow in-field use and also open opportunities to provide real-time feedback. The present study expands the idea of using everyday workout data from the AI Endurance app to obtain the relationship between cycling power and DFA-a1. Collected data were imported between September 2021 and August 2023 with an initial pool of 3123 workouts across 21 male users. The aim of this analysis was to further apply a new method of implementing workout group data considering representative values of DFA-a1 segmentation compared to single workout data and including all data points to enhance the validity of the internal-to-external load relationship. The present data demonstrate a universal relationship between cycling power and DFA-a1 from everyday workout data that potentially allows accessible and regular tracking of intensity zone demarcation information. The analysis highlights the superior efficacy of the representative-based approach of included data in most cases. Summary: In natural systems, different plant species have been shown to modulate specific nitrogen (N) cycling processes so as to meet their N demand, thereby potentially influencing their own niche. This phenomenon might go beyond plant interactions with symbiotic microorganisms and affect the much less explored plant interactions with free‐living microorganisms involved in soil N cycling, such as nitrifiers and denitrifiers.Here, we investigated variability in the modulation of soil nitrifying and denitrifying enzyme activities (NEA and DEA, respectively), and their ratio (NEA : DEA), across 193 Arabidopsis thaliana accessions. We studied the genetic and environmental determinants of such plant–soil interactions, and effects on plant biomass production in the next generation.We found that NEA, DEA, and NEA : DEA varied c. 30‐, 15‐ and 60‐fold, respectively, among A. thaliana genotypes and were related to genes linked with stress response, flowering, and nitrate nutrition, as well as to soil parameters at the geographic origin of the analysed genotypes. Moreover, plant‐mediated N cycling activities correlated with the aboveground biomass of next‐generation plants in home vs away nonautoclaved soil, suggesting a transgenerational impact of soil biotic conditioning on plant performance.Altogether, these findings suggest that nutrient‐based plant niche construction may be much more widespread than previously thought. Cycling stability is the biggest challenge for cathodes of sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs), which is directly affected by the structure design. Herein, the combination of high‐entropy (HE) and multiphase structure is demonstrated to be helpful for maintaining the structure and improving the cycling stability. In the Ni/Mn/Cu/Ti/Sn five‐component HE multiphase cathode, the multiple elements at transition metal sites can enlarge the lattice and stabilize the structure simultaneously without causing an obvious capacity drop, achieving the synergistic effect of multi‐cations. In the HE cathodes consisting of P2 and O3 phases, the harmful phase transition in high‐voltage is suppressed and the cycling performance is improved. A capacity retention of 77.3 mAh g−1 after 300 cycles is delivered, and an improved rate performance of 88.7 mAh g−1 at 750 mA g−1 is observed, better than that of the low‐entropy multiphase cathode(P2 and O3) and the HE oxide single O3‐phase cathode. The weighted average ionic radius(WAIR) of all transition metals is demonstrated critical for the formation of the phase composition in HE composites. Through comparing a series of HE and multiphase cathodes, an empirical range of WAIR is obtained, which shows guidance for the design of other cathode materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the loadsol in measuring pedal reaction force (PRF) during stationary cycling as well as lower limb symmetry. Ten healthy participants performed bouts of cycling at 1kg, 2kg, and 3kg workloads (conditions) on a cycle ergometer. The ergometer was fitted with instrumented pedals and participants wore loadsol plantar pressure insoles. A 3 x 2 (Condition x Sensor Type) ANOVA was used to examine the differences in measured peak PRF, impulse, and symmetry indices. Root mean square error, intraclass correlation coefficients, and Passing-Bablok regressions were used to further assess reliability and validity. The loadsol demonstrated poor (< 0.5) to excellent (> 0.9) agreement as measured by intraclass correlation coefficients for impulse and peak PRF. Passing-Bablok regression revealed a systematic bias only when assessing all workloads together for impulse with no bias present when looking at individual workloads. The loadsol provides a consistent ability to measure PRF and symmetry when compared to a gold standard of instrumented pedals but exhibits an absolute underestimation of peak PRF. This study provides support that the loadsol can identify and track symmetry differences in stationary cycling which means there is possible usage for clinical scenarios and interventions in populations with bilateral asymmetries such as individuals with knee replacements, limb length discrepancies, diabetes, or neurological conditions. Further investigation of bias should be conducted in longer cycling sessions to ensure that the loadsol system is able to maintain accuracy during extended use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigates the performance and cycling fading of a solid-state fluoride-ion battery (FIB) based on the CuF2 electrode. The cathode and solid electrolyte of CuF2 composite and La0.9Ba0.1F2.9 are prepared by ballmilling. Meanwhile, the anode materials are used as Sn and Pb. All FIB cells with sandwich structures are fabricated by compressing under a pressure of 4.5 tons/cm². Electrochemical measurements of discharge/charge are performed at 423 K and under 40 μA/cm². The resultant cycling stability of the cell with the Pb anode is higher than that of the cell with the Sn anode. Concerning the cell with Pb anode, the first and tenth discharge capacities of 150 and 90 mAh/g are obtained. X-ray photoelectron analysis demonstrates that the cycling fading of the cell with the Sn (or Pb) anode may be attributed to the irreversible formation of materials (e.g., SnF4 or PbF4) during the electrochemical reaction. Silicon (Si) is recognized as a promising anode material for next‐generation anodes due to its high capacity. However, large volume expansion and active particle pulverization during cycling rapidly deteriorate the battery performance. The relationship between Si anode particle size and particle pulverization, and the structure evolution of Si particles during cycling is not well understood. In this study, a quantitative, time‐resolved "operando" small angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) investigation into the morphological change of unwrapped and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) wrapped Si nanoparticles (Si@rGO) is conducted with respect to the operating voltage. The results provide a clear picture of Si particle size change and the role of nonrigid rGO in mitigating Si volume expansion and pulverization. Bicycle simulators have been the subject of considerable research, however, few of these attempts have integrated direct balance control and realistic freedom of motion to deliver a real-world dynamic cycling experience. This study presents the BIKE (Bicycle Intrinsic Kinematics Emulator) system, a kinematic bicycle simulator, developed with the purpose of letting its users experience realistic steer, roll, yaw and sway motions. Motion is provided with Carvallo–Whipple bicycle model-based control of sway and yaw combined with passive steer and roll. This study validates the BIKE simulator by comparing cycling behaviour and subjective evaluation for the simulator with and without motion to outdoor tests with an instrumented bicycle. 15 participants of varying age and mass, performed straight-line cycling, at low ( $ 5\,\hbox {km/h} $ 5 km/h ) to high ( $ 40\,\hbox {km/h} $ 40 km/h ) velocities and zig-zag manoeuvres. Results show that users can successfully rely on existing cycling skills to use the simulator with motion. Objectively, in the kinematic sense, the simulator with motion performs similarly to an outdoor bicycle. Unstable electrode/electrolyte interface with irreversible Zn deposition and hydrogen reactions have severely damage the cycle life of aqueous zinc‐metal batteries (ZMBs), which is closely related to interfacial environment and deposition behavior of Zn2+. In this work, a series of rare earth chlorides (RCl3) are proposed as non‐expendable regulators to address the above problems. Specifically, rare earth cations (R3+) with high adsorption energy can simultaneously isolate the adsorbed polar H2O molecule layer at the anode interface and regulate uniform Zn deposition behavior by electrostatic shielding. Meanwhile, Cl− binds H2O molecules via the weak hydrogen bonds, thus further inhibiting water‐related side reactions. Consequently, the optimized Zn||Zn symmetric cell can stably cycle for over 8000 cycles at 5 mA cm−2. Surprisingly, the Zn anode with 68.3% zinc utilization also can be operated over 130 h. Even under harsh condition of low N/P ratio of 2.6:1 and high mass‐loading cathode of 12.57 mg cm−2, the NH4V4O10||Zn pouch cell preserves nearly all its capacity after 300 cycles. Further, a low N/P ratio pouch cell with a more respectable capacity of 37.3 mAh preserves deep cycling for 180 cycles. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are a class of promising cathode materials for supercapacitors. However, the bad cycling performance has always been the Achilles' heel of LDHs‐based supercapacitors. In this contribution, a nonelectrochemical active element Scandium (Sc) is doped into NiCo‐LDHs to greatly improve the intrinsic cycling performance of active materials. The trimetallic NiCoSc‐LDHs exhibit an ultralong cycle lifespan with 40 000 charge–discharge cycles (exceeding 50 days) and a high specific capacity of 196 mAh g−1 (1695 F g−1). Sc doping greatly changes the degradation mode of NiCo‐LDHs from rapid decay in thousands of cycles to a two‐stage performance evolution, which consists of a superlong activation process of about 10 000 cycles and then extremely slow degradation. Moreover, Sc doping enhances the electrochemical activity of Ni3+, so as to not only avoid its Jahn–Teller distortion, but also perform as a structural stabilizer to alleviate the local strain of host layer. The assembled asymmetric supercapacitor delivers an ultralong cycling lifespan with 101% capacity retention even after 50 000 cycles. This work presents a new pathway to significantly improve the electrochemical performance, especially the cycling stability of LDH‐based electrodes for high‐performance supercapacitors. Background: A nonvolitional diagnostic method based on FES‐Cycling technology has recently been demonstrated for mechanically ventilated patients. This method presents good sensitivity and specificity for detecting muscle dysfunction and survival prognosis, even in unconscious patients. As the clinical relevance of this method has already been reported, we aimed to evaluate its safety and feasibility. Methods: An observational prospective study was carried out with 20 critically ill, mechanically ventilated patients. The FES‐cycling equipment was set in a specific diagnostic mode. For safety determination, hemodynamic parameters and peripheral oxygen saturation were measured before and immediately after the diagnostic protocol, as well as venous oxygen saturation and blood lactate. The creatine phosphokinase level (CPK) was measured before and 24, 48, and 72 h after the test. The time taken to carry out the entire diagnostic protocol and the number of patients with visible muscle contraction (capacity of perceptive muscular recruitment) were recorded to assess feasibility. Results: Heart rate [91 ± 23 vs. 94 ± 23 bpm (p = 0.0837)], systolic [122 ± 19 vs. 124 ± 19 mm Hg (p = 0.4261)] and diastolic blood pressure [68 ± 13 vs. 70 ± 15 mm Hg (p = 0.3462)], and peripheral [98 (96–99) vs. 98 (95–99) % (p = 0.6353)] and venous oxygen saturation [71 ± 14 vs. 69 ± 14% (p = 0.1317)] did not change after the diagnostic protocol. Moreover, blood lactate [1.48 ± 0.65 vs. 1.53 ± 0.71 mmol/L (p = 0.2320)] did not change. CPK did not change up to 72 h after the test [99 (59–422) vs. 125 (66–674) (p = 0.2799) vs. 161 (66–352) (p > 0.999) vs. 100 (33–409) (p = 0.5901)]. The time taken to perform the diagnostic assessment was 11.3 ± 1.1 min. In addition, 75% of the patients presented very visible muscle contractions, and 25% of them presented barely visible muscle contractions. Conclusions: The FES cycling‐based muscular dysfunction diagnostic method is safe and feasible. Hemodynamic parameters, peripheral oxygen saturation, venous oxygen saturation, and blood lactate did not change after the diagnostic protocol. To enhance Li storage properties, nitrogenation methods are developed for Si anodes. First, melamine, urea, and nitric oxide (NO) precursors are used to nitrogenize carbon‐coated Si particles. The properties of the obtained particles are compared. It is found that the NO process can maximize the graphitic nitrogen (N) content and electronic conductivity of a sample. In addition, optimized N functional groups and O─C species on the electrode surface increase electrolyte wettability. However, with a carbon barrier layer, NO hardly nitrogenizes the Si cores. Therefore, bare Si particles are reacted with NO. Core‐shell Si@amorphous SiNx particles are produced using a facile and scalable NO treatment route. The effects of the NO reaction time on the physicochemical properties and charge–discharge performance of the obtained materials are systematically examined. Finally, the Si@SiNx particles are coated with N‐doped carbon. Superior capacities of 2435 and 1280 mAh g−1 are achieved at 0.2 and 5 A g−1, respectively. After 300 cycles, 90% of the initial capacity is retained. In addition, differential scanning calorimetry data indicate that the multiple nitrogenation layers formed by NO significantly suppress electrode exothermic reactions during thermal runaway. Hydrogel‐based zinc‐air batteries (ZABs) are promising flexible rechargeable batteries. However, the practical application of hydrogel‐based ZABs is limited by their short service life, narrow operating temperature range, and repair difficulty. Herein, a self‐healing ionogel is synthesized by the photopolymerization of acrylamide and poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether acrylate in 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium dicyanamide with zinc acetate dihydrate and first used as an electrolyte to fabricate self‐healing ZABs. The obtained self‐healing ionogel has a wide operating temperature range, good environmental and electrochemical stability, high ionic conductivity, satisfactory mechanical strength, repeatable and efficient self‐healing properties enabled by the reversibility of hydrogen bonding, and the ability to inhibit the production of dendrites and by‐products. Notably, the self‐healing ionogel has the highest ionic conductivity and toughness compared to other reported self‐healing ionogels. The prepared self‐healing ionogel is used to assemble self‐healing flexible ZABs with a wide operating temperature range. These ZABs have ultra‐long cycling lives and excellent stability under harsh conditions. After being damaged, the ZABs can repeatedly self‐heal to recover their battery performance, providing a long‐lasting and reliable power supply for wearable devices. Alleviating the decomposition of the electrolyte is of great significance to improving the cycle stability of cathodes, especially for LiCoO2 (LCO), its volumetric energy density can be effectively promoted by increasing the charge cutoff voltage to 4.6 V, thereby supporting the large‐scale application of clean energy. However, the rapid decomposition of the electrolyte under 4.6 V conditions not only loses the transport carrier for lithium ion, but also produces HF and insulators that destroy the interface of LCO and increase impedance. In this work, the decomposition of electrolyte is effectively suppressed by changing the adsorption force between LCO interface and EC. Density functional theory illustrates the LCO coated with lower electronegativity elements has a weaker adsorption force with the electrolyte, the adsorption energy between LCO@Mg and EC (0.49 eV) is weaker than that of LCO@Ti (0.73 eV). Meanwhile, based on the results of time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, conductivity‐atomic force microscopy, in situ differential electrochemical mass spectrometry, soft X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance, as the adsorption force increases, the electrolyte decomposes more seriously. Herein, a covalent organic framework (SO3-COF) containing sulfonic acid groups has been developed on the surface of alumina by a one-step method, labeled as SO3-COF@Al2O3. The experimental results show that SO3-COF@Al2O3 can effectively inhibit the shuttle effect of soluble lithium polysulfide (LiPSs) in LSBs after loading the active material sulfur, and exhibits better cycling behavior than the initial polymer SO3-COF. The initial discharge specific capacity of this electrode material at 0.05C is as high as 1141 mA h g−1, and the capacity can be maintained at 466 mA h g−1 after 500 cycles with a capacity decay rate of 0.08% per cycle. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising renewable electrode materials for LIBs and gained significant attention, but their capacity has been limited by the densely packed 2D layer structures, low active site availability, and poor electronic conductivity. Combining COFs with high-conductivity MXenes is an effective strategy to enhance their electrochemical performance. Nevertheless, simply gluing them without conformal growth and covalent linkage restricts the number of redox-active sites and the structural stability of the composite. Therefore, in this study, a covalently assembled 3D COF on Ti3C2 MXenes (Ti3C2@COF) is synthesized and serves as an ultralong cycling electrode material for LIBs. Due to the covalent bonding between the COF and Ti3C2, the Ti3C2@COF composite exhibits excellent stability, good conductivity, and a unique 3D cavity structure that enables stable Li+ storage and rapid ion transport. As a result, the Ti3C2-supported 3D COF nanosheets deliver a high specific capacity of 490 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1, along with an ultralong cyclability of 10,000 cycles at 1 A g−1. Enzyme-linked electrochemical immunosensors have attracted considerable attention for the sensitive and selective detection of various targets in clinical diagnosis, food quality control, and environmental analysis. In order to improve the performances of conventional immunoassays, significant efforts have been made to couple enzyme-linked or nanozyme-based catalysis and redox cycling for signal amplification. The current review summarizes the recent advances in the development of enzyme- or nanozyme-based electrochemical immunosensors with redox cycling for signal amplification. The special features of redox cycling reactions and their synergistic functions in signal amplification are discussed. Hexagonal MAB phases （h‐MAB） have attracted attention due to their potential to exfoliate into MBenes, similar to MXenes, which are predicted to be promising for Li‐ion battery applications. However, the high cost of synthesizing MBenes poses challenges for their use in batteries. This study presents a novel approach where a simple ball‐milling treatment is employed to enhance the purity of the h‐MAB phase Ti2InB2 and introduce significant indium defects, resulting in improved conductivity and the creation of abundant active sites. The synthesized Ti2InB2 with indium defects (VIn‐Ti2InB2) exhibits excellent electrochemical properties, particularly exceptional long‐cycle stability at current densities of 5 A g−1 (5000 cycles, average capacity decay of 0.0018%) and 10 A g−1 (15 000 cycles, average capacity decay of 0.093%). The charge storage mechanism of VIn‐Ti2InB2, involving a dual redox reaction, is proposed, where defects promote the In‐Li alloy reaction and a redox reaction with Li in the TiB layer. Finally, a Li‐ion full cell demonstrates cycling stability at 0.5 A g−1 after 350 cycles. This work presents the first accessible and scalable application of VIn‐Ti2InB2 as a Li‐ion anode, unlocking a wealth of possibilities for sustainable electrochemical applications of h‐MAB phases. Deep‐sea methane seeps are amongst the most biologically productive environments on Earth and are often characterised by stable, low oxygen concentrations and microbial communities that couple the anaerobic oxidation of methane to sulfate reduction or iron reduction in the underlying sediment. At these sites, ferrous iron (Fe2+) can be produced by organoclastic iron reduction, methanotrophic‐coupled iron reduction, or through the abiotic reduction by sulfide produced by the abundant sulfate‐reducing bacteria at these sites. The prevalence of Fe2+in the anoxic sediments, as well as the availability of oxygen in the overlying water, suggests that seeps could also harbour communities of iron‐oxidising microbes. However, it is unclear to what extent Fe2+ remains bioavailable and in solution given that the abiotic reaction between sulfide and ferrous iron is often assumed to scavenge all ferrous iron as insoluble iron sulfides and pyrite. Accordingly, we searched the sea floor at methane seeps along the Cascadia Margin for microaerobic, neutrophilic iron‐oxidising bacteria, operating under the reasoning that if iron‐oxidising bacteria could be isolated from these environments, it could indicate that porewater Fe2+ can persist is long enough for biology to outcompete pyritisation. We found that the presence of sulfate in our enrichment media muted any obvious microbially‐driven iron oxidation with most iron being precipitated as iron sulfides. Transfer of enrichment cultures to sulfate‐depleted media led to dynamic iron redox cycling relative to abiotic controls and sulfate‐containing cultures, and demonstrated the capacity for biogenic iron (oxyhydr)oxides from a methane seep‐derived community. 16S rRNA analyses revealed that removing sulfate drastically reduced the diversity of enrichment cultures and caused a general shift from a Gammaproteobacteria‐domainated ecosystem to one dominated by Rhodobacteraceae (Alphaproteobacteria). Our data suggest that, in most cases, sulfur cycling may restrict the biological "ferrous wheel" in contemporary environments through a combination of the sulfur‐adapted sediment‐dwelling ecosystems and the abiotic reactions they influence. SiC devices can enhance power conversion in electric vehicles. However, traditional soldering techniques are limited by their low melting temperatures. Therefore, we used pressureless Ag sintering to assemble a 1200 V/200 A SiC metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor power module and compared the long-term reliability, electrical properties, and driving performance of the module with those of a similar module assembled using the solder Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (SAC305). To assess sinter joint reliability, we performed power cycling tests over two temperature ranges, 50–150°C and 50–175°C, for 15,000 cycles. Subsequently, we compared the breakdown voltage (BVDSS) and drain-source on-resistance (RDS(ON)) of the SiC power modules and performed cross-sectional analyses of the device bonding interfaces. No difference in BVDSS was found between the Ag-sintered and SAC305-soldered joints. However, the RDS(ON) exhibited minimal variation for the Ag-sintered module but significantly varied for the SAC305-soldered module, suggesting that the former better maintained its characteristics. Furthermore, the electrical characteristics of the SAC305-soldered module underwent more significant alterations with increasing temperature change during power cycling, indicating that cracks propagated throughout the SAC305 soldered joint over time. Therefore, Ag sintering was quantitatively validated as the superior die attachment technology compared to soldering for long-term reliability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The role of muscle mass in modulating performance and perceived fatigability across the entire intensity spectrum during cycling remains unexplored. We hypothesized that at task failure (Tlim), muscle contractile function would decline more following single- (SL) versus double-leg (DL) cycling within severe and extreme intensities, but not moderate and heavy intensities. After DL and SL ramp-incremental tests, on separate days, 11 recreationally active males (V_ O2max: 49.5 ± 7.7 mL·kg-1·min-1) completed SL and DL cycling until Tlim within each intensity domain. Power output for SL trials was set at 60% of the corresponding DL trial. Before and immediately after Tlim, participants performed an isometric maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) coupled with one superimposed and three resting femoral nerve stimulations [100 Hz; 10 Hz; single twitch (Qtw)] to measure performance fatigability. Perceived fatigue, leg pain, dyspnea, and effort were collected during trials. Tlim within each intensity domain was not different between SL and DL (all P > 0.05). MVC declined more for SL versus DL following heavy- (-42 ± 16% vs. -30 ± 18%; P = 0.011) and severe-intensity cycling (-41 ± 12% vs. -31 ± 15%; P = 0.036). Similarly, peak Qtw force declined more for SL following heavy- (-31 ± 12% vs. -22 ± 10%; P = 0.007) and severe-intensity cycling (-49 ± 13% vs. -40 ± 7%; P = 0.048). Except for heavy intensity, voluntary activation reductions were similar between modes. Similarly, except for dyspnea, which was lower for SL versus DL across all domains, ratings of fatigue, pain, and effort were similar at Tlim between exercise modes. Thus, the amount of muscle mass modulates the extent of contractile function impairment in an intensity-dependent manner. Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) are anticipated to meet the demand for high energy density, but the growth of lithium dendrites seriously hinders its practical application. Herein, we constructed a kind of composite separator (ZIF-90@PP) consisting of zeolite imidazole framework-90 (ZIF-90) and polypropylene (PP) to promote the uniform deposition of Li+ and inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites. The aldehyde groups interacting with TFSI− and the nitrogen-containing negative groups attracting Li+ of ZIF-90 can facilitate the dissociation of LiTFSI to release more Li+, thus alleviating the influence of space charge near the electrode surface and accelerating the transfer of Li+. Not only does the excellent electrolyte wettability of ZIF-90 enhance the electrolyte retention capacity of the separator, but the orderly nano-channels in ZIF-90 also restrict the free migration of anions and homogenize the distribution of Li+. Consequently, the functional separator achieves a long-term stable Li plating/stripping cycling for over 780 h at 2 mA cm−2. Moreover, an impressive average coulombic efficiency of 98.67% at 0.5 C after 300 cycles is realized by Li || LFP full cells based on ZIF-90@PP with a capacity retention rate of 71.22%. Cycling rates have grown consistently over recent years in cities across the globe. Nevertheless, the lack of policies to promote cycling results in dissatisfaction among cyclists in many cities. In response to this situation, local grassroots initiatives have emerged to pursue more ambitious cycling policies in German cities. However, there is limited knowledge of how grassroots movements influence the cycling policy agenda. Against this background, our article explores the relevance of the grassroots movement "Radentscheid" in four major German cities (Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, and Hamburg) regarding institutionalizing cycling policymaking. By combining exploratory document analysis, expert interviews, and an analysis of secondary data, we show that the development of cycling over the last two decades in these cities follows three stages: (i) Commitment, when cycling is put on the political agenda; (ii) Imbalanced growth, characterized by a strong increase in cycling but little progress in cycling policies and a decrease in cycling satisfaction; and (iii) Institutional adaptation, when cycling becomes a key issue for local governments due to the pressure from the grassroots movement "Radentscheid". Optical bioassays are challenged by the growing requirements of sensitivity and simplicity. Recent developments in the combination of redox cycling with different optical methods for signal amplification have proven to have tremendous potential for improving analytical performances. In this review, we summarized the advances in optical bioassays based on the signal amplification of redox cycling, including colorimetry, fluorescence, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, chemiluminescence, and electrochemiluminescence. Furthermore, this review highlighted the general principles to effectively couple redox cycling with optical bioassays, and particular attention was focused on current challenges and future opportunities. Societal challenges such as climate change and the energy crisis are putting bicycles at the centre of many people's mobility considerations ‐ but not all. In addition to the need for improved infrastructure, stability and comfort when cycling also play a major role. Simulations offer the possibility to investigate the influence of biometric differences on comfort and stability more cost‐effectively than the measurement methods currently used for bike fitting. Bicycle dynamics and multibody simulation of cycling motions have been the subject of research for a long time. Often data‐driven models are used that follow pre‐established measurement data. Moreover, optimal control simulations for competitive sports are available, where for example, the travel distance during a given time is maximised. However, such models are usually based on the biometric data of an average 18–25 year old male, while the influence of gender differences on cycling motions are rarely explored. Yielding towards closing this gender data gap, we use a discrete mechanics and optimal control framework (DMOCC), which benefits from its structure preserving formulation and has been successfully used for biomechanical applications before. The implemented multibody model of a leg performing a cycling motion can be adapted to individual 3D scans via the geometry parameters and the bounds on the joint angles and torques, providing the possibility to investigate the influence of biometric diversity on the resulting motions. In this first approach, we discuss several possibilities to formulate appropriate objective functions for cycling. The final aim of this study is to supplement a given bike frame by software chosen adaptations so that it optimally fits to individual biometric conditions, thus increasing comfort, the sense of safety and performance, which ultimately enables greater participation in the mobility transition for women, children, and seniors. We sought to investigate the lower-extremity biomechanics underlying increased gait velocity following high-cadence cycling. Ground reaction forces (GRF) and lower-extremity kinematics and kinetics were recorded as 15 healthy adults walked at a self-selected pace prior to and immediately following a 15 min bout of cycling at a cadence of 75 rotations per minute. Propulsive GRF and stance-phase peak dorsiflexion and knee extension angles increased, while peak plantarflexion and hip extension angles decreased. Swing-phase peak dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, knee flexion, and hip flexion angles increased, while peak knee extension angle decreased. Peak dorsiflexion, knee extension, and hip extension angular velocity also increased during swing. No changes in peak joint moments were observed; however, peak positive ankle, knee, and hip joint power generation increased following cycling. Completing high-cadence cycling improves gait velocity by increasing propulsive GRF; increasing joint angular velocity during the swing phase of gait for the ankle, knee, and hip; and increasing positive power production by the ankle, knee, and hip during the stance phase. Increased gait velocity post cycling exercise did not increase lower-extremity joint moments. This paper presents a detailed refinement and validation of two well-known lifetime prediction models for IGBTs, namely CIPS08 and SKiM63, using experimental power cycling test data. This study focuses on adapting these models to reflect the operational conditions and degradation patterns to more accurately fit different IGBT types and applications. Key modifications include recalibrating the scale factor and temperature coefficients in the SKiM63 model and refining the CIPS08 model coefficients (β1 = −2.910, β2 = 1083.714, β3 = −4.521) based on the impact of temperature fluctuations, bond wire diameter, and electrical stresses observed during power cycling tests. These adjustments provide a significant shift from traditional values, with the recalibrated models offering a better fit, as evidenced by a reasonable coefficient of determination (R2) and root mean square error (RMSE). Utilizing Monte Carlo simulations with a 5% uncertainty, the study calculates the B10 lifetimes of PV inverters, demonstrating a substantial reduction from 43 years in the unmodified model to 13 years in the modified model. This emphasizes the critical need for ongoing modification and validation of predictive models based on the actual operational data to enhance the reliability and efficiency of IGBTs in power electronic systems. Silicon carbide (SiC)-based metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) hold promising application prospects in future high-capacity high-power converters due to their excellent electrothermal characteristics. However, as nascent power electronic devices, their long-term operational reliability lacks sufficient field data. The power cycling test is an important experimental method to assess packaging-related reliability. In order to obtain data closest to actual working conditions, forward power cycling is utilized to carry out SiC MOSFET degradation experiments. Due to the wide bandgap characteristics of SiC MOSFETs, the short-term drift of the threshold voltage is much more serious than that of silicon (Si)-based devices. Therefore, an offline threshold voltage measurement circuit is implemented during power cycling tests to minimize errors arising from this short-term drift. Different characterizations are performed based on power cycling tests, focused on measuring the on-state resistance, thermal impedance, and threshold voltage of the devices. The findings reveal that the primary failure mode under forward power cycling tests, with a maximum junction temperature of 130 ∘C, is bond-wire degradation. Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for living organisms in peat and marine soils, and its transformation within the soil matrix is a complex process mediated by various microbes that inhabit these ecological niches. The metabolism of nitrogen is governed by microbially mediated biogeochemical transformations, such as nitrification, anammox, and denitrification, which contribute to the assimilated pool of nitrogen and fixed nitrogen loss. One of the major challenges facing the field of peat and marine microbiology is the lack of understanding of the correlation between ecosystem-driven nitrogen transformation and microbial diversity. This is crucial because of growing concerns regarding the impacts of human-induced activities and global climate change on microbial nitrogen-cycling processes in peat and marine soils. Thus, this review aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of the microbial communities involved in peat and marine nitrification, anammox, and denitrification; the factors influencing the niche differentiation and distribution of the main functional components; the genes involved; and the main effects of human-induced activities and global climate change on the peat and marine nitrogen cycle. The implications of this review will facilitate an understanding of the complex mechanisms associated with ecosystem function in relation to nitrogen cycling, the role of peat and marine soils as carbon sinks, pollution remediation using naturally occurring populations of diverse microbes, and the development of policies to mitigate the effects of anthropogenic influences in peat and marine soils. Sprinting plays a significant role in determining the results of road cycling races worldwide. However, currently, there is a lack of systematic research into the kinematics of sprint cycling, especially in an outdoor, environmentally valid setting. This study aimed to describe selected joint kinematics during a cycling sprint outdoors. Three participants were recorded sprinting over 60 meters in both standing and seated sprinting positions on an outdoor course with a baseline condition of seated cycling at 20 km/h. The participants were recorded using array-based inertial measurement units to collect joint excursions of the upper and lower limbs including the trunk. A high-rate GPS unit was used to record velocity during each recorded condition. Kinematic data were analyzed in a similar fashion to running gait, where multiple pedal strokes were identified, delineated, and averaged to form a representative (average ± SD) waveform. Participants maintained stable kinematics in most joints studied during the baseline condition, but variations in ranges of movement were recorded during seated and standing sprinting. Discernable patterns started to emerge for several kinematic profiles during standing sprinting. Alternate sprinting strategies emerged between participants and bilateral asymmetries were also recorded in the individuals tested. Highlights: Branch chain-rich diisopropyl ether (DIPE) was selected as co-solvent of low-temperature electrolyte for lithium metal battery. The introduction of DIPE improved the disorder of electrolyte and the branch chains from DIPE exclude other solvents from the Li+ solvent sheath, thereby achieving a rapid desolvation process. The electrolyte guaranteed a uniform Li stripping and deposition during cycling at both room temperature and low temperature and ensured stable cycling performance for Li||LFP cells over 650 cycles at − 20 °C. Li metal batteries (LMBs) offer significant potential as high energy density alternatives; nevertheless, their performance is hindered by the slow desolvation process of electrolytes, particularly at low temperatures (LT), leading to low coulombic efficiency and limited cycle stability. Thus, it is essential to optimize the solvation structure thereby achieving a rapid desolvation process in LMBs at LT. Herein, we introduce branch chain-rich diisopropyl ether (DIPE) into a 2.5 M Li bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide dipropyl ether (DPE) electrolyte as a co-solvent for high-performance LMBs at − 20 °C. The incorporation of DIPE not only enhances the disorder within the electrolyte, but also induces a steric hindrance effect form DIPE's branch chain, excluding other solvent molecules from Li+ solvation sheath. Both of these factors contribute to the weak interactions between Li+ and solvent molecules, effectively reducing the desolvation energy of the electrolyte. Consequently, Li (50 μm)||LFP (mass loading ~ 10 mg cm−2) cells in DPE/DIPE based electrolyte demonstrate stable performance over 650 cycles at − 20 °C, delivering 87.2 mAh g−1, and over 255 cycles at 25 °C with 124.8 mAh g−1. Background: The transition into residential aged care is frequently associated with a reduction in physical activity, social engagement, and emotional wellbeing. Our aim was to evaluate the impact of a 26-day international cycling competition (Road Worlds Competition for Seniors), incorporating elements of exercise, audiovisual cycling footage, social engagement, and gamification, on the physical, psychological, and social well-being of aged care residents. We aimed to use findings to inform the development of a multi-modal intervention model to maximise wellbeing for older adults. Methods: Residents (N = 32) participated in a mixed-methods single-group intervention pilot study that compared pre-and post-competition measures for the following wellbeing domains; physical, psychological, and social. In addition, interviews were conducted with residents (n = 27) and staff (n = 6) to explore their experiences. Results: Measures identified significant improvements across multiple wellbeing domains, including functional fitness, depression, self-efficacy, and social network sizes. Findings from the interview data indicated that the multimodal components involved in the program delivery were valued by staff and residents who enjoyed the gamification, audiovisual cycling footage, social engagement, opportunities for reminiscence, and camaraderie between peers, staff, and volunteers. Conclusions: Findings highlight a constellation of benefits across physical, psychological, and social domains of wellbeing and inform a model for innovative multidimensional programs in residential aged care. Cyclists are considered to be vulnerable road users (VRUs) and need protection from potential collisions with cars and other vehicles induced by unsafe driving, dangerous road conditions, or weak cycling infrastructure. Integrating mmWave radars into cycling safety measures presents an efficient solution to this problem given their compact size, low power consumption, and low cost compared to other sensors. This paper introduces an mmWave radar-based bike safety system designed to offer real-time alerts to cyclists. The system consists of a low-power radar sensor affixed to the bicycle, connected to a micro-controller, and delivering a preliminary classification of detected obstacles. An efficient two-level clustering based on the accumulation of radar point clouds from multiple frames with a temporal projection from previous frames into the current frame is proposed. The clustering is followed by a coarse classification algorithm in which we use relevant features extracted from the resulting clusters. An annotated RadBike dataset composed of radar point cloud data synchronized with RGB camera images is developed to evaluate our system. The two-level clustering outperforms the DBSCAN algorithm, achieving a v-measure score of 0.91, compared to 0.88 with classical DBSCAN. Different classifiers, including decision trees, random forests, support vector machines (SVMs), and AdaBoost, have been assessed, with an overall accuracy of 87% for the three main object classes: four-wheeled, two-wheeled, and others. Background: During the bloom season, the colonial cyanobacterium Microcystis forms complex aggregates which include a diverse microbiome within an exopolymer matrix. Early research postulated a simple mutualism existing with bacteria benefitting from the rich source of fixed carbon and Microcystis receiving recycled nutrients. Researchers have since hypothesized that Microcystis aggregates represent a community of synergistic and interacting species, an interactome, each with unique metabolic capabilities that are critical to the growth, maintenance, and demise of Microcystis blooms. Research has also shown that aggregate-associated bacteria are taxonomically different from free-living bacteria in the surrounding water. Moreover, research has identified little overlap in functional potential between Microcystis and members of its microbiome, further supporting the interactome concept. However, we still lack verification of general interaction and know little about the taxa and metabolic pathways supporting nutrient and metabolite cycling within Microcystis aggregates. Results: During a 7-month study of bacterial communities comparing free-living and aggregate-associated bacteria in Lake Taihu, China, we found that aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic (AAP) bacteria were significantly more abundant within Microcystis aggregates than in free-living samples, suggesting a possible functional role for AAP bacteria in overall aggregate community function. We then analyzed gene composition in 102 high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) of bloom-microbiome bacteria from 10 lakes spanning four continents, compared with 12 complete Microcystis genomes which revealed that microbiome bacteria and Microcystis possessed complementary biochemical pathways that could serve in C, N, S, and P cycling. Mapping published transcripts from Microcystis blooms onto a comprehensive AAP and non-AAP bacteria MAG database (226 MAGs) indicated that observed high levels of expression of genes involved in nutrient cycling pathways were in AAP bacteria. Conclusions: Our results provide strong corroboration of the hypothesized Microcystis interactome and the first evidence that AAP bacteria may play an important role in nutrient cycling within Microcystis aggregate microbiomes. The Na3V2(PO4)2F3 (NVPF) cathode material is usually nano‐sized particles exhibiting low tap density, high specific surface area, correspondingly low volume energy density, and cycle stability of the sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs). Herein, a high‐temperature shock (HTS) strategy is proposed to synthesize NVPF (HTS‐NVPF) with uniform conducting network and high tap density. During a typical HTS process (heating rate of 1100 °C s−1 for 10 s), the precursors rapidly crystallize and form large‐sized and dense particles. The tight connection between particles not only enhances their contact with carbon layers, but also reduces the specific surface area that inhibits side reactions between the interfaces and the electrolyte. Besides, ultrafast synthesis of NVPF reduces the F loss and amount of Na3V2(PO4)3 impurities, which improve cycling capability. The HTS‐NVPF demonstrates a high energy density of 413.4 Wh kg−1 and an ultra‐high specific capacity of 103.4 mAh g−1 at 10 C as well as 84.2% capacity retention after 1000 cycles. In addition, the excellent temperature adaptability of HTS‐NVPF (−45–55 °C) and remarkable electrochemical properties of NVPF||HC full cell demonstrate extreme competitiveness in commercial SIBs. Background: Intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is one of the most common complications of post-ICU syndrome. It is the leading cause of gait disturbance, decreased activities of daily living, and poor health-related quality of life. The early rehabilitation of critically ill patients can reduce the ICU-AW. We designed a protocol to investigate the feasibility and safety of conventional rehabilitation with additional in-bed cycling/stepping in critically ill patients. Methods: The study is designed as a single-center, single-blind, pilot, randomized, parallel-group study. After the screening, participants are randomly allocated to two groups, stratified by mechanical ventilation status. The intervention group will be provided with exercises of in-bed cycling/stepping according to the level of consciousness, motor power, and function in addition to conventional rehabilitation. In contrast, the control group will be provided with only conventional rehabilitation. The length of intervention is from ICU admission to discharge, and interventions will be conducted for 20 minutes, a maximum of three sessions per day. Results: The outcomes are the number and percentage of completed in-bed cycling/stepping sessions, the duration and percentage of in-bed cycling/stepping sessions, and the number of cessations of in-bed cycling/stepping sessions, the interval from ICU admission to the first session of in-bed cycling/stepping, the number and percentage of completed conventional rehabilitation sessions, the duration and percentage of conventional rehabilitation sessions, the number of cessations of conventional rehabilitation sessions, the number of adverse events, level of consciousness, functional mobility, muscle strength, activities of daily living, and quality of life. Discussion: This study is a pilot clinical trial to investigate the feasibility and safety of conventional rehabilitation with additional in-bed cycling/stepping in critically ill patients. Multi‐electron NAtrium SuperIonic CONductor (NASICON)‐Nb2(PO4)3 (N0NbP) is an attractive Na‐ion battery anode, owing to its low intercalation voltage (1.4 V vs Na+/Na0) and high capacity (≈150 mAh g−1). However, it suffers from poor capacity retention due to structural degradation. To overcome this issue, extra Na+ ions are introduced at the Na(1) sites, via V3+ substitution, which can act as stabilizing agents to hold lantern units together during cycling, producing NASICON‐Na1.5V0.5Nb1.5(PO4)3 (N1.5VNbP). The N1.5VNbP anode exhibits reversible capacities of ≈140 mAh g−1 at 1.4 V versus Na+/Na0 through Nb5+/Nb4+/Nb3+ and V3+/V2+ redox activities. The extra Na+ ions in the framework forms a complete solid‐solution during Na (de)intercalation and enhances sodium diffusivity, in agreement with first‐principles calculations. Further, N1.5VNbP demonstrates extraordinary cycling (89% capacity retention at 5C after 500 cycles) and rate performances (105 mAh g−1 at 5C). Upon pairing the N1.5VNbP anode with the NASICON‐Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode, the full Na‐ion cell delivers a remarkable energy density of 98 Wh kg−1 (based on the mass of anode and cathode) and retains 80% of its capacity at 5C rate over 1000 cycles. Non-native ungulates (sheep, goats, and pigs) have significant negative impacts on ecosystem biodiversity, structure, and biogeochemical function throughout the Pacific Islands. Elevated nitrogen (N) availability associated with ungulate disturbance has been shown to promote the success of resource-exploitive invasive plants. While ungulate removal is a common restoration intervention, evaluations of its efficacy typically focus on vegetation responses, rather than underlying nutrient cycling. We used multiple chronosequences of ungulate exclusion (10–24 years duration) in three Hawaiian ecosystems (montane wet forest, dry forest, and dry shrubland) to determine N cycle recovery by characterizing gross mineralization and nitrification, soil inorganic N concentrations and leaching, N2O emissions, and plant tissue δ15N. Ungulate removal led to a 1–2 ‰ decline in foliar δ15N in most species, consistent with a long-term decrease in N fractionation via ecosystem N losses, or a shift in the relative turnover of N forms. This interpretation was supported by significant (dry forest) or trending (wet forest) increases in mineralization and decreases in nitrification, but conflicts with lack of observed change in inorganic N pool sizes or gaseous losses, and increased leaching in the dry forest. While results could indicate that ungulate invasions do not strongly impact N cycling in the first place (no uninvaded control sites exist in Hawai'i to test this hypothesis), this would be inconsistent with observations from other sites globally. Instead, impacts may be spatially patchy across the landscape, or ungulate invasions (possibly in combination with other disturbances) may have permanently shifted biogeochemical function or decoupled elemental cycles. R134a, commonly used in air conditioning (AC) for electric vehicles, may be gradually limited because its global warming potential (GWP) is 1430. This study combined the advantages of R1234yf and R152a. PR state equation and vdW mixing rule are used to construct the mixing model. The performance of R1234yf/R152a at different mass ratios was analyzed, a new mixture R1234yf/R152a (mass ratio 60.5/39.5) was selected. The cycling performance of mixture and R134a under three different evaporation temperatures was further studied. The results show that R1234yf/R152a belongs to a near-azeotropic mixture. In cycling performance, the R1234yf/R152a per-unit refrigerating capacity (RC) of refrigerant mass is about 12.45 % higher than that of R134a, the per-unit RC of swept volume is about 5.21 % lower than that of R134a. Rationale: A COPD Foundation working group sought to identify measures of exercise endurance, a meaningful aspect of physical functioning in everyday life among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that is not fully accepted in regulatory decision making, hampering drug development. Objectives: To demonstrate, as we previously asserted (Casaburi COPD 2022;9:252), that constant work rate cycling endurance time is an appropriate exercise endurance measure in patients with COPD. Methods: To validate this assertion, we assembled an integrated database of endurance time responses, including 8 bronchodilator (2,166 subjects) and 15 exercise training (3,488 subjects) studies (Casaburi COPD 2022;9:520). Results: Construct validity was demonstrated: 1) peak physiologic and perceptual responses were similar for constant work rate and incremental cycling; 2) after bronchodilator therapy, there were greater increases in endurance time in patients with more severe airflow limitation; 3) after exercise training, endurance time increases were similar across airflow limitation severities; and 4) there were correlations between changes in endurance time and changes in mechanistically related physiologic and perceptual variables. Test–retest reliability was demonstrated, with consistency of changes in endurance time at two time points after the intervention. Responsiveness was confirmed, with significant increases in endurance time after active (but not placebo) bronchodilator therapy, with greater increases seen with more severe airflow limitation and after exercise training. On the basis of regression analysis using multiple anchor variables, the minimum important difference for endurance time increase is estimated to be approximately 1 minute. Conclusions: Constant work rate cycling endurance time is a valid exercise endurance measure in COPD, suitable for contributing to the evaluation of treatment benefit supporting regulatory decision making and evidence-based therapeutic recommendations. This study observed seasonal trends and inferred drivers of CO2 biogeochemistry at the air‐water interface of Lake Superior. Underway carbon dioxide partial pressure (pCO2) was measured in surface water during 69 transects spanning ice free seasons of 2019‐2022. These data comprise the first multiannual pCO2 time series in the Laurentian Great Lakes. Surface water pCO2 was closely tied to increasing atmospheric pCO2 over a 100‐day CO2 equilibration timescale, while seasonal variability was controlled equally by thermal and non‐thermal drivers during the ice‐free season. Comparison to previous modeling efforts indicated that Lake Superior surface pCO2 increased with two decades of rising atmospheric CO2. Spatial heterogeneity in CO2 dynamics was highlighted by a conductivity‐based delineation of "riverine" and "pelagic" regimes, each of which was associated with net CO2 influx over Julian days 100–300 on the order of 25 Gmol C. These findings refine previous estimates of Lake Superior C fluxes, support predictions of anthropogenic CO2 invasion during the ice‐free season, point to new observation strategies for large lakes, and highlight an urgent need for studies of changes to lacustrine C cycling. Lake Superior's surface carbon dioxide concentration was closely tied during the ice‐free season to that of the atmosphere on time scales longer than 1 year. Seasonal variations in carbon dioxide concentration were driven by water temperature, biological activity, river influence, and gas exchange with the atmosphere. Lake Superior released and absorbed carbon dioxide cyclically at different times during the year, absorbing more than it released from April to November. The carbon dioxide gas concentration in mixing surface waters was observed to have increased over a multi‐decade period with that of the atmosphere. This work improves the scientific understanding of carbon cycling in Lake Superior and advances techniques for carbon cycle observation and modeling of other lakes in a time of large‐scale changes to surface water CO2 cycling. Solid oxide cells (SOCs) attract industry due to their operation with non-platinum catalysts and high tolerance towards hydrogen quality. The coupling with other industrial processes increases their energy efficiency. They already entered market production for which the lifetime should go beyond 90,000 h. This requires a further decrease in the degradation rates to reach the accepted key performance indicators (KPIs) - one of the main research and technological targets. However, the bottleneck is the long-term tests which cannot be avoided. The problem-solving approach is the introduction of accelerated stress tests (ASTs), which are not yet developed. The first 12 AST protocols were elaborated in the FCH JU2 Project AD ASTRA applying in-situ aggravated tests of cells/stacks and ex-situ artificial aging of critical cell/stack single components. This paper gives detailed information about one of the protocols based on accelerated and governed ex-situ aging of the fuel electrode (Ni/YSZ) by chemical redox cycling, causing enhanced coarsening and migration of the Ni particles. A three-stage test procedure is developed. The performed mild oxidation is monitored by a specially introduced impedance-based approach. For quantitative evaluation of the accelerated degradation, electrochemical measurements are applied periodically during the aging in accelerated conditions. They are compared with data from previous field tests in nominal conditions. Comparative microstructural analysis is also performed. The acceleration is evaluated by the introduced acceleration factor (AF). It is presented by the ratio between the duration of a long-term test at nominal conditions and that measured at accelerated conditions, bringing to the same level of degradation.
