Motivated by the multiferroic effects and quantum magnetization plateaus in the skew chain antiferromagnets T 2 V 2 O 7 (T = Ni, Co), we have conducted a detailed density function theoretical study on Co 2 V 2 O 7. The results show that the nearest-neighbor interchain interaction (J 3 / k B = − 35.57 K) is not much greater than the intrachain interactions (J 1 / k B = − 19.54 K and J 2 / k B = 27.55 K), showing the absence of interchain dimerization of the Co ions. This indicates that the "dimer+monomer" model used for Ni 2 V 2 O 7 [Cao et al., Phys. Rev. B 106, 184409 (2022)] is no longer applicable to Co 2 V 2 O 7. Finally, the exact diagonalization of spin Hamiltonian, including anisotropic exchanges, produces the experimentally observed 1/2 and 3/4 magnetization plateaus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To measure the surface temperature distribution after using a CO2 laser to heat titanium dental implants via different power settings, application intervals, and irradiation times. Materials and Methods: A total of 10 tissue-level titanium implants (Screw-Line Promote Plus, Camlog; 4.3 × 11 mm) were placed (EpoFix, Struers) and irradiated with a CO2 laser (Denta 2, Lutronic) with a wavelength of 10.6 µm at power levels of 4 watts (Group 1), 6 watts (Group 2), 8 watts (Group 3), and 10 watts (Group 4). A continuous beam mode (setting I) and noncontinuous beam modes with 5-second (setting II) and 10-second (setting III) pause intervals were used. For each setting, a total irradiation time of 50 seconds was used and repeated 10 times. The temperature was measured using external thermocouple (Testo) in contact with the implant surface at the implant shoulder, middle, and apex. A linear regression model was used to analyze the data (P = .05). Results: Setting I demonstrated the most rapid increase in implant surface temperature in all three test sites as well as the greatest total temperature at 50 seconds of irradiation time. The greater the pause interval (settings II and III) during the 50 seconds of irradiation, the lower the rate of temperature increase as well as the total temperature in all three test sites and with all power levels. The average temperature difference between the apex and shoulder site was significant for setting III for all groups, but not for any groups in settings I and II. Conclusions: Heating the internal aspect of an implant with a CO2 laser produces different temperature distribution profiles depending on the laser power level and the application interval. Localization procedures are an important tool for analysis of complex systems in quantum chemistry, since canonical molecular orbitals are delocalized and can, therefore, be difficult to align with chemical intuition and obscure information at the local level of the system. This especially applies to calculations obeying periodic boundary conditions. The most commonly used approach to localization is Foster–Boys Wannier functions, which use a unitary transformation to jointly minimize the second moment of the orbitals. This procedure has proven to be robust and fast but has a side effect of often mixing σ - and π -type orbitals. σ / π -separation is achieved by the Pipek–Mezey Wannier function (PMWF) approach [Lehtola and Jónsson, J. Chem. Theory Comput. 10, 642 (2014) and Jónsson et al., J. Chem. Theory Comput. 13, 460 (2017)], which defines the spread functional in terms of partial charges instead. We have implemented a PMWF algorithm in the CP2K software package using the Cardoso–Souloumiac algorithm to enable their application to real-time time-dependent density functional theory. The method is demonstrated on stacked CO 2 molecules, linear acetylenic carbon, boron and nitrogen co-doped graphene, and nitrogen-vacancy doped diamond. Purpose: To assess (1) whether and how a higher maximal lactate steady state (MLSS) at higher cycling cadence (RPM) comes along with higher absolute and/or fractional carbohydrate combustion (CHOMLSS), respectively, and (2) whether there is an interrelation between potential RPM-dependent MLSS effects and the maximally achievable RPM (RPMMAX). Methods: Twelve healthy males performed incremental load tests to determine peak power, peak oxygen uptake, and 30-minute MLSS tests at 50 and 100 per minute, respectively, to assess RPM-dependent MLSS, corresponding power output, CHOMLSS responses, and 6-second sprints to measure RPMMAX. Results: Peak power, peak carbon dioxide production, and power output at MLSS were lower (P =.000, ω2 = 0.922; P =.044, ω2 > 0.275; and P =.016, ω2 = 0.373) at 100 per minute than at 50 per minute. With 6.0 (1.5) versus 3.8 (1.2) mmol·L−1, MLSS was higher (P =.000, ω2 = 0.771) at 100 per minute than at 50 per minute. No corresponding RPM-dependent differences were found in oxygen uptake at MLSS, carbon dioxide production at MLSS, respiratory exchange ratio at MLSS, CHOMLSS, or fraction of oxygen uptake used for CHO at MLSS, respectively. There was no correlation between the RPM-dependent difference in MLSS and RPMMAX. Conclusions: The present study extends the previous finding of a consistently higher MLSS at higher RPM by indicating (1) that at fully established MLSS conditions, respiration and CHOMLSS management do not differ significantly between 100 per minute and 50 per minute, and (2) that linear correlation models did not identify linear interdependencies between RPM-dependent MLSS conditions and RPMMAX. In this work, the effects of finite size on the determination of the three-phase coexistence temperature (T3) of the carbon dioxide (CO2) hydrate have been studied by molecular dynamic simulations and using the direct coexistence technique. According to this technique, the three phases involved (hydrate–aqueous solution–liquid CO2) are placed together in the same simulation box. By varying the number of molecules of each phase, it is possible to analyze the effect of simulation size and stoichiometry on the T3 determination. In this work, we have determined the T3 value at 8 different pressures (from 100 to 6000 bar) and using 6 different simulation boxes with different numbers of molecules and sizes. In two of these configurations, the ratio of the number of water and CO2 molecules in the aqueous solution and the liquid CO2 phase is the same as in the hydrate (stoichiometric configuration). In both stoichiometric configurations, the formation of a liquid drop of CO2 in the aqueous phase is observed. This drop, which has a cylindrical geometry, increases the amount of CO2 available in the aqueous solution and can in some cases lead to the crystallization of the hydrate at temperatures above T3, overestimating the T3 value obtained from direct coexistence simulations. The simulation results obtained for the CO2 hydrate confirm the sensitivity of T3 depending on the size and composition of the system, explaining the discrepancies observed in the original work by Míguez et al. [J. Chem Phys. 142, 124505 (2015)]. Non-stoichiometric configurations with larger unit cells show a convergence of T3 values, suggesting that finite-size effects for these system sizes, regardless of drop formation, can be safely neglected. The results obtained in this work highlight that the choice of a correct initial configuration is essential to accurately estimate the three-phase coexistence temperature of hydrates by direct coexistence simulations. In this work, the effect of the range of dispersive interactions in determining the three-phase coexistence line of the CO2 and CH4 hydrates has been studied. In particular, the temperature (T3) at which solid hydrate, water, and liquid CO2/gas CH4 coexist has been determined through molecular dynamics simulations using different cutoff values (from 0.9 to 1.6 nm) for dispersive interactions. The T3 of both hydrates has been determined using the direct coexistence simulation technique. Following this method, the three phases in equilibrium are put together in the same simulation box, the pressure is fixed, and simulations are performed at different temperatures T. If the hydrate melts, then T > T3. Conversely, if the hydrate grows, then T < T3. The effect of the cutoff distance on the dissociation temperature has been analyzed at three different pressures for CO2 hydrate: 100, 400, and 1000 bar. Then, we have changed the guest and studied the effect of the cutoff distance on the dissociation temperature of the CH4 hydrate at 400 bar. Moreover, the effect of long-range corrections for dispersive interactions has been analyzed by running simulations with homo- and inhomogeneous corrections and a cutoff value of 0.9 nm. The results obtained in this work highlight that the cutoff distance for the dispersive interactions affects the stability conditions of these hydrates. The rare earth alloy Y 2 Co 17 − x Ni x was prepared by a low-cost co-precipitation reduction-diffusion process, and its crystal structure, static magnetic properties, and microscopic morphology were systematically characterized. The effects of Ni doping with different contents on the electromagnetic parameters and wave absorption properties of Y 2 Co 17 − x Ni x /polyurethane(PU) compounds were researched in the frequency range of 0.1–18 GHz. The results show that the static magnetic properties and wave absorption properties change significantly with Ni doping, and the maximum reflection loss of Y 2 Co 14 Ni 3 /PU reaches − 89.7 dB at 2.9 mm thickness, and the maximum reflection loss peaks of Y 2 Co 17 /PU and Y 2 Co 16 Ni 1 /PU are at 1.316 and 1.515 GHz, which is at the center frequency of the L-band. With Ni doping, the effective absorption bandwidth of the compounds at a frequency above 3 GHz is greatly increased. The physical factor in the bandwidth calculation was modified, and the effective absorption bandwidth of the material was calculated theoretically, and the error was less than 5 % compared with the experimental value. An N-heterocyclic stannylene :Sn(NONAd) (NONAd = [O(SiMe2NAd)2]2−, Ad = 1-adamantyl), reacts rapidly with 2,4,6-tricyclohexylphenyl azide (TCHP)N3, affording a stannaimine, (NONAd)Sn＝N(TCHP). The primary greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide (CO2), which also serves as an excellent C1 building block for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. The preparation and transformation of these structures have long been a focus in organic chemistry, making the utilization of CO2 highly advantageous. This study examines the causality of Per Capita Gross Domestic Production (PGDP), Renewable Energy Consumption (REC), and Non-Renewable Energy Consumption (NREC) on Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the global level utilising data gathered from 1995 to 2020 across various countries categorised based on income levels as High, Low, Upper Middle and Lower Middle and analysed through wavelet coherence. The findings reveal both bidirectional and unidirectional causality between the variables which have evolved. Globally, a bi-directional relationship is observed with a positive correlation between PGDP and NREC and in contrast, a negative correlation with REC. Furthermore, the analysis highlights varying causalities between CO2 emissions and PGDP, except for high-income and lower-middle-income country categories, all other shows one-way causality in different periods in the short term. Moreover, CO2 and REC, show unidirectional causality throughout the short-term, exceptionally medium & long term have both unidirectional and bidirectional causalities across all country categories with a positive correlation. In contrast, CO2 and NREC depict similar causalities to REC, however, with a negative correlation. A cross-country analysis was performed between CO2 and PGDP, CO2 and REC, and CO2 and NREC using Granger causality which shows mixed relationships. Noble gas xenon (Xe) is an excellent anesthetic gas, but its rarity, high cost and constrained production prohibits wide use in medicine. Here, we have developed a closed‐circuit anesthetic Xe recovery and reusage process with highly effective CO2‐specific adsorbent CUPMOF‐5 that is promising to solve the anesthetic Xe supply problem. CUPMOF‐5 possesses spacious cage cavities interconnected in four directions by confinement throat apertures of ~3.4 Å, which makes it an ideal molecular sieving of CO2 from Xe, O2, N2 with the benchmark selectivity and high uptake capacity of CO2. In situ single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) and computational simulation solidly revealed the vital sieving role of the confined throat and the sorbent‐sorbate induced‐fit strengthening binding interaction to CO2. CUPMOF‐5 can remove 5 % CO2 even from actual moist exhaled anesthetic gases, and achieves the highest Xe recovery rate (99.8 %) so far, as verified by breakthrough experiments. Background: Silage emits climate- and environment-relevant gases during fermentation and feed-out periods. This trial aimed to determine the unknown carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, nitrous oxide, ethanol, and ethyl acetate emissions of constant maize silage material over both periods. The results will be published in two consecutive articles (Part A: anaerobic fermentation period, Part B: aerobic storage period). Methods: The untreated control (CON) was compared with the chemical additive treatment (CHE; 0.5 g sodium benzoate and 0.3 g potassium sorbate per kg fresh matter) and the biological additive treatment (BIO; 108 colony-forming units (CFU) Lentilactobacillus buchneri and 107 CFU Lactiplantibacillus plantarum per kg fresh matter). Barrel silos (n = 4) were connected to gas bags to quantify gas formation during anaerobic fermentation (30 or 135 ensiling days). Glass jar silos (n = 12) were used for laboratory silage analysis. Results: CHE produced significantly (p < 0.05) less gas (6.7 ± 0.3 L per kg dry matter ensiled material (kgDM) until ensiling day 14.0 ± 0.0) and ethanol (8.6 ± 1.5 mg kgDM–1) than CON did (8.5 ± 0.2 L kgDM–1 until ensiling day 19.5 ± 6.4; 12.2 ± 1.5 (mg ethanol) kgDM–1). BIO indicates prolonged gas formation (9.1 ± 0.9 L kgDM–1 until ensiling day 61.3 ± 51.9; 12.0 ± 2.1 mg kgDM–1). CO2 is the main component of the gas formed. All treatments formed methane and nitrous oxide in small quantities. CON emitted significantly more CO2eq emissions than BIO and less than CHE (p < 0.05). Additives had no effect on ethyl acetate gas emissions. For BIO, ethanol concentrations in the material (rS = 0.609, p < 0.05) and gas quantities (rS = 0.691, p < 0.05) correlate with ethyl acetate gas quantities. All the treatments exhibited decreasing gas and CO2 quantities, and the dry matter mass increased between ensiling days 14 and 30 (− 0.810 ≤ rS ≤ 0.442; p < 0.05 to p = 0.20). Conclusion: Silage generates climate- and environmental-relevant gases during fermentation and silage additives affect this pattern. Purpose: To determine the ability of CO2-enhanced angiography to detect active diverticular bleeding that is not detected by iodinated contrast medium (ICM)-enhanced angiography and its impact on clinical outcomes when used to confirm embolization, particularly the risks of rebleeding and ischemic complications. Materials and methods: We retrospectively identified a cohort of patients with colonic diverticular bleeding who underwent catheter angiography between August 2008 and May 2023 at our institution. We divided them according to whether they underwent CO2 angiography following a negative ICM angiography study or to confirm hemostasis post-embolization (the CO2 angiography group) or ICM angiography alone in the absence of active bleeding or for confirmation of hemostasis post-embolization (the ICM angiography group). The ability to detect active colonic diverticular bleeding and clinical outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results: There were 31 patients in the ICM angiography group and 29 in the CO2 angiography group. The rate of detection of active bleeding by CO2 angiography that was not identified by ICM angiography was 48%. The rebleeding rate was 23% in the ICM angiography group and 6.9% in the CO2 angiography group. Among the patients who underwent TAE, the ischemic complications rate was 7.1% in the ICM angiography group and 4.5% in the CO2 angiography group. Conclusions: CO2 angiography may detect active diverticular bleeding that is not detectable by ICM angiography and appears to be associated with a lower rebleeding rate. Level of evidence: IV. Two new neodymium-based metal–organic frameworks, JMS-10 and JMS-11, were synthesised using a 2,2′-bipypridine-5,5′-dicarboxylic acid (bpdc) linker. Both MOFs were solvothermally synthesised in DMF under different conditions. JMS-10 was synthesised at 120 °C while JMS-11 was synthesised at 100 °C in the presence of a modulator. Both the MOFs possessed very similar crystallographic parameters but were found to be structurally diverse. Their structures were built by secondary building units (SBUs) made up of carboxylates binding in sets of four and two to the straight rod, thus forming two types of alternating nodes that are 6- and 4-connected. Both JMS-10 and JMS-11 were functionalized using the ruthenium p-cymene complex. The functionalized MOFs were applied in the photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide to syngas where they produced both hydrogen and carbon monoxide (CO : H2) in the ratio of 1 : 2. The amount of CO to H2 produced varied depending on the additives used in the reaction medium, highlighting the importance of water, triethanolamine and acetonitrile in tuning the syngas ratio for different industrial applications. Nitrogen is the most limiting nutrient in wetland ecosystems. Changing in nitrogen nutrient status has a great effect on wetland carbon and nitrogen cycling. However, there is much uncertainty as to wetland greenhouse gas emissions response to nitrogen inputs in China. In this study, we synthesized 177 paired observations from 27 studies of greenhouse gases emissions related to nitrogen additions across wetland in China. The results showed nitrogen inputs significantly contributed to wetland carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions but had no significant effect on methane (CH4). We further analyze the relationship between greenhouse gases emissions and soil properties, climate factors under nitrogen inputs. Regression analyses introducing explanatory variables showed that high nitrogen inputs (12 g N m−2 yr−1—24 g N m−2 yr−1) contributed more significantly to wetland CO2 and N2O emissions. Compared to other wetland types, alpine peatlands have a greater impact on CO2 and N2O emissions following nitrogen input. In addition, high altitude (> 1500 m and ≤ 3500 m) could promote wetland CO2 and N2O emissions more significantly after nitrogen input, but ultra-high altitude (> 3500 m) reduced CO2 emissions. CO2 and N2O emissions were more significantly promoted when mean annual temperature (MAT) was positive, and CO2 emissions increased with increasing mean annual precipitation (MAP). Wetland CO2 emissions can be significantly promoted when soil is acidic, while N2O emissions can be significantly promoted when soil is alkaline. N2O emissions increased with increasing of soil total nitrogen (TN) and soil organic carbon (SOC) contents. These findings highlight the characteristics of wetland greenhouse gas emissions following nitrogen input, and improve our ability to predict greenhouse gas emissions and help meet carbon neutrality targets. Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to produce high-value ethylene is often limited by poor selectivity and yield of multi-carbon products. To address this, we propose a cyanamide-coordinated isolated copper framework with both metallic copper (Cu0) and charged copper (Cu1+) sites as an efficient electrocatalyst for the reduction of carbon dioxide to ethylene. Our operando electrochemical characterizations and theoretical calculations reveal that copper atoms in the Cuδ+NCN complex enhance carbon dioxide activation by improving surface carbon monoxide adsorption, while delocalized electrons around copper sites facilitate carbon-carbon coupling by reducing the Gibbs free energy for *CHC formation. This leads to high selectivity for ethylene production. The Cuδ+NCN catalyst achieves 77.7% selectivity for carbon dioxide to ethylene conversion at a partial current density of 400 milliamperes per square centimeter and demonstrates long-term stability over 80 hours in membrane electrode assembly-based electrolysers. This study provides a strategic approach for designing catalysts for the electrosynthesis of value-added chemicals from carbon dioxide. This study reports a cyanamide-framework stabilized multivalent copper catalyst for efficient electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to ethylene with 77.7% selectivity at 400 mA cm−2, offering a rational strategy for CO2 conversion. Metal hydrides are crucial intermediates in numerous catalytic reactions. Intensive efforts have been dedicated to constructing molecular metal hydrides, where toxic precursors and delicate mediators are usually involved. Herein, we demonstrate a facile pressure-induced methodology to generate a cost-effective heterogeneous electrocatalytic metal hydride surface for sustainable hydrogen transfer. Taking carbon dioxide (CO2) electroreduction as a model system and zinc (Zn), a well-known carbon monoxide (CO)-selective catalyst, as a model catalyst, we showcase a homogeneous-type hydrogen atom transfer process induced by heterogeneous hydride surfaces, enabling direct hydrogenation pathways traditionally considered "prohibited". Specifically, the maximal Faradaic efficiency for formate is enhanced by ~fivefold to 83% under ambient conditions. Experimental and theoretical analyses reveal that unlike the distal hydrogenation route for CO2 to CO over pristine Zn, the Zn hydride surface enables direct hydrogenation at the carbon site of CO2 to form formate. This work provides a promising material platform for sustainable synthesis. Here we designed "negatively charged Ag (nc‐Ag)" active sites featuring both the intrinsic activity and the capability of regulating microenvironment, through modifying Ag nanoparticles with atomically dispersed Sn species. Different from conventional active sites (which only mediate the surface processes by bonding with the intermediates), the nc‐Ag sites could also manipulate environmental species. Therefore, the sites could not only activate CO2, but also regulate interfacial H2O and CO2, as confirmed by operando spectroscopies. The catalyst delivers a high current density with a CO faradaic efficiency of 97 %. Our work here opens up new opportunities for the design of multifunctional electrocatalytic active sites. The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) is an appealing method for carbon utilization. Alkaline CO2 electrolyzers exhibit high CO2RR activity, low full‐cell voltages, and cost‐effectiveness. However, the issue of CO2 loss caused by (bi)carbonate formation leads to excessive energy consumption, rendering the process economically impractical. In this study, we propose a trilayer polymer electrolyte (TPE) comprising a perforated anion exchange membrane (PAEM) and a bipolar membrane (BPM) to facilitate alkaline CO2RR. This TPE enables the coexistence of high alkalinity near the catalyst surface and the H+ flux at the interface between the PAEM and the cation exchange layer (CEL) of the BPM, conditions favoring both CO2 reduction to multicarbon products and (bi)carbonate removal in KOH‐fed membrane electrode assembly (MEA) reactors. As a result, we achieve a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of approximately 46 % for C2H4, corresponding to a C2+ FE of 64 % at 260 mA cm−2, with a CO2‐to‐C2H4 single‐pass conversion (SPC) of approximately 32 % at 140 mA cm−2—nearly 1.3 times the limiting SPC in conventional AEM‐MEA electrolyzers. Furthermore, coupling CO2 reduction with formaldehyde oxidation reaction (FOR) in the TPE‐MEA electrolyzer reduces the full‐cell voltage to 2.3 V at 100 mA cm−2 without compromising the C2H4 FE. The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) is an appealing method for carbon utilization. Alkaline CO2 electrolyzers exhibit high CO2RR activity, low full‐cell voltages, and cost‐effectiveness. However, the issue of CO2 loss caused by (bi)carbonate formation leads to excessive energy consumption, rendering the process economically impractical. In this study, we propose a trilayer polymer electrolyte (TPE) comprising a perforated anion exchange membrane (PAEM) and a bipolar membrane (BPM) to facilitate alkaline CO2RR. This TPE enables the coexistence of high alkalinity near the catalyst surface and the H+ flux at the interface between the PAEM and the cation exchange layer (CEL) of the BPM, conditions favoring both CO2 reduction to multicarbon products and (bi)carbonate removal in KOH‐fed membrane electrode assembly (MEA) reactors. As a result, we achieve a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of approximately 46 % for C2H4, corresponding to a C2+ FE of 64 % at 260 mA cm−2, with a CO2‐to‐C2H4 single‐pass conversion (SPC) of approximately 32 % at 140 mA cm−2—nearly 1.3 times the limiting SPC in conventional AEM‐MEA electrolyzers. Furthermore, coupling CO2 reduction with formaldehyde oxidation reaction (FOR) in the TPE‐MEA electrolyzer reduces the full‐cell voltage to 2.3 V at 100 mA cm−2 without compromising the C2H4 FE. In conjunction with the pressing global issue of climate change and the associated concern over global warming, increasing interest has emerged in the exploration of carbon dioxide (CO2) as a resource for the generation of a diverse array of products intended to serve societal needs. This study presents the development of an ATP-free and NAD-balanced in vitro synthetic enzymatic biosystem (ivSEB), which comprises only five cascade thermophilic enzymes, designed for the synthesis of L-malate through CO2 fixation powered by the utilization of D-glucose as a substrate. This designed ivSEB yields two moles of L-malate from one mole of D-glucose and two moles of CO2. Through meticulous refinement of reaction conditions and enzyme loading amounts, this ivSEB has demonstrated its capability to produce 6.85 mM of L-malate via CO2 fixation from an initial 5 mM of D-glucose with a molar product yield of 68.5%, and 2.45 mM of L-lactate as a byproduct. In the pursuit of assessing the industrial feasibility of this ivSEB, the study further subjected the system to the utilization of a high concentration (45.70 mM) of D-glucose. Although this endeavor necessitates additional optimization for enhanced efficiency, the present findings herald the emergence of an alternative avenue for the sustainable production of L-malate through CO2 fixation, thus bearing substantial promise for addressing ecological and industrial imperatives. Leveraging electrochemistry, a new synthesis of non‐natural derivatives of itaconic acid is proposed by utilizing carbon dioxide (CO2) as a valuable C1 synthon. An electrochemical cross‐electrophile coupling between allenoates and CO2 was targeted, allowing for the synthesis of both mono‐ and di‐carboxylation products in a catalyst‐ and additive‐free environment (yields up to 87 %, 30 examples). The mechanistic details of the asymmetric Ni‐catalyzed reductive cyclization/carboxylation of alkenes with CO2 have been revisited using DFT methods. Emphasis was put on the enantioselectivity and the mechanistic role of Lewis acid additives and in situ formed salts. Our results show that oxidative addition of the substrate is rate‐limiting, with the formed Ni(II)‐aryl intermediate preferring a triplet spin state. After reduction to Ni(I), enantioselective cyclization of the substrate occurs, followed by inner sphere carboxylation. Our proposed mechanism reproduces the experimentally observed enantiomeric excess and identifies critical C−H/O and C−H/N interactions that affect the selectivity. Further, our results highlight the beneficial effect of Lewis acids on CO2 insertion and suggest that in situ formed salts influence if the 5‐exo or 6‐endo product will be formed. Neurovascular coupling (NVC), which mediates rapid increases in cerebral blood flow in response to neuronal activation, is commonly used to map brain activation or dysfunction. Here we tested the reemerging hypothesis that CO2 generated by neuronal metabolism contributes to NVC. We combined functional ultrasound and two-photon imaging in the mouse barrel cortex to specifically examine the onsets of local changes in vessel diameter, blood flow dynamics, vascular/perivascular/intracellular pH, and intracellular calcium signals along the vascular arbor in response to a short and strong CO2 challenge (10 s, 20%) and whisker stimulation. We report that the brief hypercapnia reversibly acidifies all cells of the arteriole wall and the periarteriolar space 3–4 s prior to the arteriole dilation. During this prolonged lag period, NVC triggered by whisker stimulation is not affected by the acidification of the entire neurovascular unit. As it also persists under condition of continuous inflow of CO2, we conclude that CO2 is not involved in NVC. A remerging hypothesis suggests that CO2 generated by neuronal metabolism contributes to neurovascular coupling (NVC). Here, the authors show that NVC is unaffected by the acidification of the entire arteriolar column during cerebrovascular reactivity to CO2, demonstrating that CO2 is not a mediator of NVC. Maintaining patients' temperature during surgery is beneficial since hypothermia has been linked with perioperative complications. Laparoscopic surgery involves the insufflation of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the peritoneal cavity and has become the standard in many surgical indications since it is associated with better and faster recovery. However, the use of cold and dry CO2 insufflation can lead to perioperative hypothermia. We aimed to assess the difference between intraperitoneal and core temperatures during laparoscopic surgery and evaluate the influence of duration and CO2 insufflation volume by fitting a mixed generalized additive model. In this prospective observational single-center cohort trial, we included patients aged over 17 with American Society of Anesthesiology risk scores I to III undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Anesthesia, ventilation, and analgesia followed standard protocols, while patients received active warming using blankets and warmed fluids. Temperature data, CO2 ventilation parameters, and intraabdominal pressure were collected. We recruited 51 patients. The core temperature was maintained above 36 °C and progressively raised toward 37 °C as pneumoperitoneum time passed. In contrast, the intraperitoneal temperature decreased, thus creating a widening difference from 0.4 [25th–75th percentile: 0.2–0.8] °C at the beginning to 2.3 [2.1–2.3] °C after 240 min. Pneumoperitoneum duration and CO2 insufflation volume significantly increased this temperature difference (P < 0.001 for both parameters). Core vs. intraperitoneal temperature difference increased linearly by 0.01 T °C per minute of pneumoperitoneum time up to 120 min and then 0.05 T °C per minute. Each insufflated liter per unit of time, i.e. every 10 min, increased the temperature difference by approximately 0.009 T °C. Our findings highlight the impact of pneumoperitoneum duration and CO2 insufflation volume on the difference between core and intraperitoneal temperatures. Implementing adequate external warming during laparoscopic surgery effectively maintains core temperature despite the use of dry and unwarmed CO2 gases, but peritoneal hypothermia remains a concern, suggesting the importance of further research into regional effects. Bio-based carbon dioxide removal encompasses a range of (1) natural sink enhancement concepts in agriculture and on organic soils including peatlands, and in forestry, (2) bio-based building materials, and (3) bioenergy production with CO2 capture and storage (BECCS). A common database on these concepts is crucial for their consideration in strategies and implementation. In this study, we analyse standardised factsheets on these concepts. We find different dynamics of deployment until 2045: for CO2 removal rates from the atmosphere, natural sink enhancement concepts are characterised by gradually increasing rates, followed by a saturation and potentially a decrease after few decades; forest-related measures ramp up slowly and for construction projects and bioenergy plants, annually constant removal rates are assumed during operation which drop to zero afterwards. The expenses for removing 1 t CO2 from the atmosphere were found to be between 8 and 520 € t CO2−1, which arises from high divergence both in capital and operational expenditures among the concepts. This high variability of expenses seems to suggest the more cost-effective concepts should be implemented first. However, aspects from economics, resource base and environmental impacts to social and political implications for Germany need to be considered for developing implementation strategies. The ocean and the land biosphere are the two major sinks of anthropogenic carbon at present. When anthropogenic carbon emissions become zero and temperatures stabilize, the ocean is projected to become the dominant and only global natural sink of carbon. Despite the ocean's importance for the carbon cycle and hence the climate, uncertainties about the decadal variability in this carbon sink and the underlying drivers of this decadal variability remain large because observing the ocean carbon sink and detecting anthropogenic changes over time remain challenging. The main tools that are used to provide annually resolved estimates of the ocean carbon sink over the last decades are global observation-based p CO 2 products that extrapolate sparse p CO 2 observations in space and time and global ocean biogeochemical models forced with atmospheric reanalysis data. However, these tools (i) are limited in time over the last 3 to 7 decades, which hinders statistical analyses of the drivers of decadal trends; (ii) are all based on the same internal climate state, which makes it impossible to separate externally and internally forced contributions to decadal trends; and (iii) cannot assess the robustness of the drivers in the future, especially when carbon emissions decline or cease entirely. Here, I use an ensemble of 12 Earth system models (ESMs) from phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) to understand drivers of decadal trends in the past, present, and future ocean carbon sink. The simulations by these ESMs span the period from 1850 to 2100 and include four different future Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs), from low emissions and high mitigation to high emissions and low mitigation. Using this ensemble, I show that 80 % of decadal trends in the ocean carbon sink can be explained by changes in decadal trends in atmospheric CO 2 as long as the ocean carbon sink remains smaller than 4.5 Pg C yr -1. The remaining 20 % are due to internal climate variability and ocean heat uptake, which result in a loss of carbon from the ocean. When the carbon sink exceeds 4.5 Pg C yr -1 , which only occurs in the high-emission SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5, atmospheric CO 2 rises faster, climate change accelerates, and the ocean overturning and the chemical capacity to take up carbon from the atmosphere reduce, so that decadal trends in the ocean carbon sink become substantially smaller than estimated based on changes in atmospheric CO 2 trends. The breakdown of this relationship in both high-emission pathways also implies that the decadal increase in the ocean carbon sink is effectively limited to ∼1 Pg C yr -1 dec -1 in these pathways, even if the trend in atmospheric CO 2 continues to increase. Previously proposed drivers, such as the atmospheric CO 2 or the growth rate of atmospheric CO 2 , can explain trends in the ocean carbon sink for specific time periods, for example, during exponential atmospheric CO 2 growth, but fail when emissions start to decrease again. The robust relationship over an ensemble of 12 different ESMs also suggests that very large positive and negative decadal trends in the ocean carbon sink by some p CO 2 products are highly unlikely and that the change in the decadal trends in the ocean carbon sink around 2000 is likely substantially smaller than estimated by these p CO 2 products. Heterosis is a crucial factor in enhancing crop yield, particularly in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor). This research utilised six sorghum restorer lines, six sorghum sterile lines, and 36 hybrid combinations created through the NCII incomplete double-row hybridisation method. We evaluated the performance of F1 generation hybrids for leaf photosynthesis-related parameters, carbon metabolism-related enzymes, and their correlation with yield traits during the flowering stage. Results showed that hybrid sorghum exhibited significant high-parent heterosis in net photosynthetic rate (P n), transpiration rate (T r), stomatal conductance (G s), apparent leaf meat conductance (AMC), ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) carboxylase, phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) carboxylase, and sucrose phosphate synthase (SPS). Conversely, inter-cellular carbon dioxide concentration (C i), instantaneous water uses efficiency (WUE), and sucrose synthase (SuSy) displayed mostly negative heterosis. Traits such as 1000-grain weight (TGW), grain weight per spike (GWPS), and dry matter content (DMC) exhibited significant high-parent heterosis, with TGW reaching the highest value of 82.54%. P n demonstrated positive correlations with T r, C i, G s, RuBP carboxylase, PEP carboxylase, GWPS, TGW, and DMC, suggesting that T r, C i, and G s could aid in identifying high-photosynthesis sorghum varieties. Concurrently, P n could help select carbon-efficient sorghum varieties due to its close relationship with yield. Overall, the F1 generation of sorghum hybrids displayed notable heterosis during anthesis. Combined with field performance, P n at athesis can serve as a valuable indicator for early prediction of the yield potential of the F1 generation of sorghum hybrids and for screening carbon-efficient sorghum varieties. There is limited information on the hybridisation of enzymes linked to these characteristics. Understanding hybrid dominance of photosynthetic traits and their associated enzymes in sorghum is crucial for identifying sorghum hybrids with highly dominant combinations and selecting suitable parents. This study utilised 36 sorghum hybrid F1 generations and their respective parents to assess hybrid dominance in leaf photosynthetic parameters, key enzyme activities during photosynthesis, yield formation, and other relevant factors, while also examining their correlation with yield in field conditions. Background: An intricate physiological and pathophysiological connection exists between the heart and lungs, which is especially important in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). While an exercise intervention may seem the best approach to leverage this relationship, the prior work has shown that, despite numerous health benefits, regular exercise training does not improve cardiorespiratory control in individuals with SCI. Breath training presents an alternative intervention that is uniquely accessible, with yogic breathing directly engaging linked fluctuations in respiration and cardiovascular control. In addition, there is evidence across a range of populations that regular yogic breathing reduces cardiovascular disease risk. It is possible that the chronic decrease in breathing frequency associated with regular yogic breathing, rather than the specific yogic breathing techniques themselves, is the primary contributor to the observed risk reduction. Methods: Therefore, in 12 individuals with traumatic SCI from C4 to T8, the authors compared Unpaced and conventional 0.083 Hz (Slow) paced breathing with various yogic breathing techniques including: (1) inspiratory–expiratory breath holds (i.e., Kumbhaka or "Box Breathing"), (2) extended exhalation (1:2 duty cycle), and (3) expiratory resistance via throat constriction (i.e., Ujjayi). Beat-to-beat heart rate and blood pressure were measured as well as end-tidal CO2 and O2 saturation were measured. Statistical analysis was performed using a one-way repeated-measures analysis of variance with post hoc pairwise t tests corrected for multiple comparisons. Results: As expected, all slow breathing patterns markedly increased respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) compared with Unpaced in all (n = 12) individuals. More importantly, Ujjayi breathing appeared to improve ventilatory efficiency over Unpaced breathing in individuals with SCI by increasing O2 saturation (97.6% vs. 96.1%; p = 0.042) and tended to decrease end-tidal CO2 (32 mmHg vs. 35 mmHg; p = 0.08). While other slow breathing patterns demonstrated similar effects, only Ujjayi improved RSA while increasing heart rate and improving ventilatory efficiency. Conclusions: Hence, slow breathing per se can result in important cardiorespiratory changes, but the yogic breathing practice of Ujjayi, with glottic throat resistance, may hold the greatest promise for improving cardiorespiratory control in individuals with SCI (CTR ID No. NCT05480618). Nations and companies are increasingly aligning their oil and gas operations to achieve net zero and remove as much carbon dioxide (CO2) as possible to counter climate change. In the gas industry, fugitive gases can often escape the production process facilities. This is a major challenge that is hindering the gas processing facilities from achieving the net zero as outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015. There have been several strategies and approaches that are meant to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including carbon capture and storage technologies, direct air capture (DAC), and CO2 sequestration. Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies have gained a lot of attention in recent years owing to their effectiveness. This paper is a case study to evaluate the implementation of CCUS at Hawiyah NGL Recovery Plant. This case study showcases the immense benefits of this technology whereby it has been able to lower emissions by 30-35%. However, the technology is cost-intensive and still at the infancy stage, which therefore requires more advancements to reduce the cost of processing and ensure a worldwide adoption. Previous studies report contradicting age‐related neurovascular coupling (NVC). Few studies assess postural effects, but less investigate relationships between age and NVC within different postures. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of age on NVC in different postures with varying cognitive stimuli. Beat‐to‐beat blood pressure, heart rate and end‐tidal carbon dioxide were assessed alongside middle and posterior cerebral artery velocities (MCAv and PCAv, respectively) using transcranial Doppler ultrasonography in 78 participants (31 young‐, 23 middle‐ and 24 older‐aged) with visuospatial (VST) and attention tasks (AT) in various postures at two timepoints (T2 and T3). Between‐group significance testing utilized one‐way analysis‐of‐variance (ANOVA) (Tukey post‐hoc). Mixed three‐way/one‐way ANOVAs explored task, posture, and age interactions. Significant effects of posture on NVC were driven by a 3.8% increase from seated to supine. For AT, mean supine %MCAv increase was greatest in younger (5.44%) versus middle (0.12%) and older‐age (0.09%) at T3 (p = 0.005). For VST, mean supine %PCAv increase was greatest at T2 and T3 in middle (10.99%/10.12%) and older‐age (17.36%/17.26%) versus younger (9.44%/8.89%) (p = 0.004/p = 0.002). We identified significant age‐related NVC effects with VST‐induced hyperactivation. This may reflect age‐related compensatory processes in supine. Nighttime lighting (NTL), population growth, and climate change are critical concerns for Turkey. The intensity of nighttime lights in Turkey has significantly increased in recent years, closely associated with rapid population growth and urban expansion. Areas with higher population density exhibit greater nighttime light presence. Nighttime lighting is directly linked to energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, contributing significantly to global climate change. The rise in nighttime lighting in Turkey exacerbates climate change effects. In this study, data on NTL were gathered from the NOAA/V21 satellite for 2013–2021, the NOAA/CMCFG satellite for average DMSP-OLS radiance values from 2013 to 2023, and the NOAA/VNP46A2 satellite for BRDF-corrected DMSP-OLS NTL data from 2013 to 2023. Night temperature values were extracted from NOAA and MODIS images, and their correlation with NTL data was analyzed. A moderate relationship was observed between NTL and night land surface temperature (LST) (R, 0.32; p-value < 0.05). Population and greenhouse gas emission data were sourced from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). Carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and fluorinated gases (F-gases) are direct greenhouse gases. A strong correlation was found between NTL and greenhouse gases (R, 0.8; p-value < 0.05). Population density emerges as a significant determinant of nighttime light intensity. These findings underscore the substantial correlation between nighttime light intensity in Turkey, population dynamics, and GHG emissions. The study suggests that NTL data can inform the development of sustainable environmental policies. Satellites have been providing spaceborne observations of the total column of CO2 (denoted XCO2) for over two decades now, and, with the need for independent verification of Paris Agreement objectives, many new satellite concepts are currently planned or being studied to complement or extend the instruments that already exist. Depending on whether they are targeting natural and/or anthropogenic fluxes of CO2 , the designs of these future concepts vary greatly. The characteristics of their shortwave infrared (SWIR) observations notably explore several orders of magnitude in spectral resolution (from λ/Δλ ∼ 400 for Carbon Mapper to λ/Δλ ∼ 25 000 for MicroCarb) and include different selections of spectral bands (from one to four bands, among which there are the CO2 -sensitive 1.6 µm and/or 2.05 µm bands). The very nature of the spaceborne measurements is also explored: for instance, the NanoCarb imaging concept proposes to measure CO2 -sensitive truncated interferograms, instead of infrared spectra like other concepts, in order to significantly reduce the instrument size. This study synthetically explores the impact of three different design parameters on the XCO2 retrieval performance obtained through optimal estimation: (1) the spectral resolution, (2) the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and (3) the spectral band selection. Similar performance assessments are completed for the exactly defined OCO-2, MicroCarb, Copernicus CO2 Monitoring (CO2M) and NanoCarb concepts. We show that improving the SNR is more efficient than improving the spectral resolution to increase XCO2 precision when perturbing these parameters across 2 orders of magnitude, and we find that a low SNR and/or a low spectral resolution yield XCO2 with vertical sensitivities that give more weight to atmospheric layers close to the surface. The exploration of various spectral band combinations illustrates, especially for lower spectral resolutions, how including an O2 -sensitive band helps to increase the optical path length information and how the 2.05 µm CO2 -sensitive band contains more geophysical information than the 1.6 µm band. With very different characteristics, MicroCarb shows a CO2 information content that is only slightly higher than that of CO2M , which translates into XCO2 random errors that are lower by a factor ranging from 1.1 to 1.9, depending on the observational situation. The performance of NanoCarb for a single pixel of its imager is comparable to those of concepts that measure spectra at low SNR and low spectral resolution, but, as this novel concept would observe a given target several times during a single overpass, its performance improves when combining all the observations. Overall, the broad range of results obtained through this synthetic XCO2 performance mapping hint at the future intercomparison challenges that the wide variety of upcoming CO2 -observing concepts will pose. A viable tactic to effectively address the climate crisis is the production of renewable fuels via photocatalytic reactions using solar energy and available resources like carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. Organic polymer material-based photocatalytic materials are thought to be one way to convert solar energy into valuable chemicals and other solar fuels. The use of porous organic polymers (POPs) for CO2 fixation and capture and sequestration to produce beneficial compounds to reduce global warming is still receiving a lot of interest. Visible light-responsive organic photopolymers that are functionally designed and include a large number of heteroatoms and an extended π-conjugation allow for the generation of photogenerated charge carriers, improved absorption of visible light, increased charge separation, and decreased charge recombination during photocatalysis. Due to their rigid structure, high surface area, flexible pore size, permanent porosity, and adaptability of the backbone for the intended purpose, POPs have drawn more and more attention. These qualities have been shown to be highly advantageous for numerous sustainable applications. POPs may be broadly categorized as crystalline or amorphous according to how much long-range order they possess. In terms of performance, conducting POPs outperform inorganic semiconductors and typical organic dyes. They are light-harvesting materials with remarkable optical characteristics, photostability, cheap cost, and low cytotoxicity. Through cocatalyst loading and morphological tweaking, this review presents optimization options for POPs preparation techniques. We provide an analysis of the ways in which the preparative techniques will affect the materials' physicochemical characteristics and, consequently, their catalytic activity. An inventory of experimental methods is provided for characterizing POPs' optical, morphological, electrochemical, and catalytic characteristics. The focus of this review is to thoroughly investigate the photochemistry of these polymeric organic photocatalysts with an emphasis on understanding the processes of internal charge generation and transport within POPs. The review covers several types of amorphous POP materials, including those based on conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs), inherent microporosity polymers, hyper-crosslinked polymers, and porous aromatic frameworks. This study investigated the effect of different synthesis parameters including pre- and post-hydrothermal treatment on the formation of a high-quality SSZ-13 membrane layer. The membranes were identified initially by the gas tightness test, then were characterized by single gas permeation measurements applying H2, He, CO2, N2, CH4, and SF6 at room temperature. The results showed how each parameter affects the performance of the membrane, including structural defects in the formed selective layer, CO2 permeance, and the ideal CO2/CH4 permselectivity. This work focused on optimizing these parameters. An ideal CO2/CH4 permselectivity of up to 122 with CO2 permeance of ~3.72 × 10−6 [mol/(m2sPa)] and CO2/CH4 selectivity of 111 with CO2 permeance of 8.5 × 10−7 [mol/(m2sPa)] in an equimolar mixture at room temperature and pressure drop of 0.15 MPa was achieved. The study comprehensively evaluates low-cost CO2 sensors from different price tiers, assessing their performance against a reference-grade instrument and exploring the possibility of calibration using different machine learning techniques. Three sensors (Sunrise AB by Senseair, K30 CO2 by Senseair, and GMP 343 by Vaisala) were tested alongside a reference instrument (Los Gatos precision greenhouse gas analyzer). The results revealed differences in sensor performance, with the higher cost Vaisala sensors exhibiting superior accuracy. Despite its lower price, the Sunrise sensors still demonstrated reasonable accuracy. Meanwhile, the K30 sensor measurements displayed higher variability and noise. Machine learning models, including linear regression, gradient boosting regression, and random forest regression, were employed for sensor calibration. In general, linear regression models performed best for extrapolating data, whereas decision tree-based models were generally more useful in handling non-linear datasets. Notably, a stack ensemble model combining these techniques outperformed the individual models and significantly improved sensor accuracy by approximately 65%. Overall, this study contributes to filling the gap in intercomparing CO2 sensors across different price categories and underscores the potential of machine learning for enhancing sensor accuracy, particularly in low-cost sensor applications. Buildings worldwide are becoming more thermally insulated, and air circulation is being reduced to a minimum. As a result, measuring indoor air quality is important to prevent harmful concentrations of various gases that can lead to safety risks and health problems. To measure such gases, it is necessary to produce low-cost and low-power-consuming sensors. Researchers have been focusing on semiconducting metal oxide (SMOx) gas sensors that can be combined with intelligent technologies such as smart homes, smart phones or smart watches to enable gas sensing anywhere and at any time. As a type of SMOx, p-type gas sensors are promising candidates and have attracted more interest in recent years due to their excellent electrical properties and stability. This review paper gives a short overview of the main development of sensors based on copper oxides and their composites, highlighting their potential for detecting CO2 and the factors influencing their performance. This work focused on the solubility of ethane in three promising ionic liquids {1-Hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluormethylsulfonyl) imide [HMIM][Tf2N], 1-Butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium dimethyl-phosphate [BMIM][DMP], and 1-Propyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethyl-sulfonyl)-imide [PMIM][Tf2N]}. The solubilities were measured at 303.15 K to 343.15 K and pressures up to 1.4 MPa using a gravimetric microbalance. The overall ranking of ethane solubility in the ionic liquids from highest to lowest is the following: [HMIM][Tf2N] > [PMIM][Tf2N] > [BMIM][DMP]. The Peng–Robinson equation of state was used to model the experimental data using three different mixing rules: van der Waals one, van der Waals two, and Wong–Sandler mixing rules combined with the Non-Random Two-Liquid model. The average absolute deviations for the three mixing rules for the ionic liquids at the three temperatures were 4.39, 2.45, and 2.45%, respectively. Henry's Law constants for ethane in [BMIM] [DMP] were the highest (lowest solubility) amongst other ionic liquids studied in this work. The solubility ranking for the 3 ILs was confirmed by calculating their overall polarity parameter (N) using COSMO-RS. The selectivity of CO2 over C2H6 was estimated at three temperatures, and the overall ranking of the selectivity was in the following order: [PMIM][Tf2N] > [BMIM][DMP] > [HMIM][Tf2N] > Selexol. Selexol is an efficient and widely used physical solvent in gas sweetening. It has lower selectivity than the three ionic liquids studied. [PMIM][Tf2N], a promising solvent, has the highest selectivity among the three ILs studied and would, therefore, be the best choice if, in addition to carbon dioxide capture, ethane co-absorption was to be avoided. Understanding intermolecular interactions is important for the design of deep eutectic solvents. Herein, potassium carbonate (K2CO3) and ethylene glycol (EG) are used to form deep eutectic solvents. The interactions between K2CO3 and EG are studied using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. Interestingly, the interaction results indicate that the carbonate anion CO 3 2 − can react with EG to form EG-based organic carbonate, which can occur even at room temperature. The possible reaction steps between K2CO3 and EG are presented. As K2CO3 can be prepared from CO2 and KOH, the findings of this work may provide a promising strategy for CO2 capture and conversion. Plant community succession can impact greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the soil by altering the soil carbon and nitrogen cycles. However, the effects of community landscape diversity on soil GHG emissions have rarely been fully understood. Therefore, this study investigated how plant landscape diversity, structure type, and species composition, affect soil GHG emissions in a riparian zone. Soil GHG emissions were assessed by measuring the air samples collected from four study sites, which have different plant community structure types and species compositions (natural sites with complex plants, landscaped sites with fruit trees and grasses, untended sites with ruderals, and farmland sites), using the static chamber method. Significant differences were observed in soil carbon dioxide (CO2; p < 0.001), nitrous oxide (N2O; p < 0.001), and methane (CH4; p = 0.005) emissions. The untended site with ruderals exhibited the highest CO2 emissions, while N2O emissions increased as plant community diversity decreased. All sites acted as sinks for CH4 emissions, with decreased CH4 uptake efficiency in more diverse plant communities. The Mantel test and variance partitioning analysis revealed soil microbial biomass as an indirect influencer of GHG emissions. Elevated CO2 levels (eCO2) pose challenges to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) growth, potentially leading to a decline in quality and productivity. This study addresses the effects of two ambient CO2 concentrations (aCO2, daytime/nighttime = 410/450 ± 30 ppm and eCO2, 550/600 ± 30 ppm) and two nitrogen (N) supplements (without N supply—N0 and with 100 mg N supply as urea per kg soil—N100) on wheat (T. aestivum cv. Yunmai) growth, N accumulation, and soil microbial communities related to ammonia oxidization. The data showed that the N supply effectively mitigated the negative impacts of eCO2 on wheat growth by reducing intercellular CO2 concentrations while enhancing photosynthesis parameters. Notably, the N supply significantly increased N concentrations in wheat tissues and biomass production, thereby boosting N accumulation in seeds, shoots, and roots. eCO2 increased the agronomic efficiency of applied N (AEN) and the physiological efficiency of applied N (PEN) under N supply. Plant tissue N concentrations and accumulations are positively related to plant biomass production and soil NO3−-N. Additionally, the N supply increased the richness and evenness of the soil microbial community, particularly Nitrososphaeraceae, Nitrosospira, and Nitrosomonas, which responded differently to N availability under both aCO2 and eCO2. These results underscore the importance and complexity of optimizing N supply and eCO2 for enhancing crop tissue N accumulation and yield production as well as activating nitrification-related microbial activities for soil inorganic N availability under future global environment change scenarios.
