The diagnostic technique of hysteroscopy can spread the malignant cells from the uterus into the abdominal cavity in endometrial cancer patients. The study was designed to evaluate the impact of diagnostic hysteroscopy on the status of peritoneal cytology and prognosis of endometrial cancer patients. Pathologically confirmed endometrial cancer patients participated in this study. A matched 1:2 ratio control group was created with patients without hysteroscopy matched per cancer stage and histology grade. The presence of cancer cell in peritoneal fluid, the overall survival rate and disease-free survival rate between the two groups were compared. A total of 66 patients (23 cases and 43 controls) were included in the final analysis. Regarding the endometrial cancer type, 75.8% were endometroid, 9.1% papillary serous and 6.1% carcinosarcoma. Of these pateints 50%, 4.6%, 36.4% and 9.1% had stage I, II, III and IV cancer respectively. A total of 6 patients (9.1%) had peritoneal cytology with malignant cells, 3 (13%) were from the cases and 3 (7%) from the control group. The median follow-up period was 42.3 months. The 5-year overall survival rate for both groups was 79.8% with a similar 5-year survival rate of 83.2%. Gea Gzz General Hospital. Authors propose a beneficial methodology for hydrological planning in their study. Prospective evaluations of the basins' net capacity can be done using the technique presented. The HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Modelling System) software can be used to estimate in a basin, the sediment emitted. For a certain precipitation, this methodology allows estimating, within a certain range, the gradual blockage of a reservoir, and even a projected date for total blockage. This has some applications to adopt corrective measures that prevent or delay the planned blockage deadlines. The model is of the semi-distributed type, estimating the generation and emission of sediments by sub-basins. The integration of different return periods in HEC-HMS with a semi-distributed model by sub-basins and the application of a mathematical model are the differentiating element of this research. The novelty of this work is to allow prognosing the reservoir sedimentation rate of basins in a local and regional scale with a medium and large temporary framework. The developed methodology allows public institutions to take decisions concerning hydrological planning. It has been applied to the case of "Charco Redondo" reservoir, in Cádiz, Andalusia, in southern Spain. Applying the methodology to this case, an average soil degradation of the reservoir basin has been estimated. Abstract  Characterization of the microbial populations formed in gas pipelines is essential to understand the metallic surface-microbe interaction, their role in metal corrosion, and to implement efficient monitoring and control strategies. Microbial community analysis in a corroded gas pipeline in a petroleum-producing facility in the Southeast region in Mexico was performed by traditional cultivation techniques and identification based on 16S rRNA gene sequence. In all samples, thin bacterial biofilms were observed and pitting corrosion was reveled after removing the biofilms. Six pure or mixed cultures of anaerobic bacteria were obtained and their 16S rRNA libraries were constructed, respectively. At least two members of each RFLP profile were sequenced and the phylogenetic affiliations of cloned bacterial 16S rRNA genes indicated that native biofilms were mainly colonized by Desulfovibrio vulgaris and Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, sulfate-reducing bacteria members; Citrobacter freundii, an Enterobacteriaceae member; Clostridium celerecrescens and Clostridium sporogenes, spore-forming anaerobic species and Cetobacterium somerae, a microaerotolerant, non-spore-forming fusobacteria. Some of these species have been observed consistently in other steel pipelines previously, but Cetobacterium members and C. celerecrescens are described for the fist time in this corroded gas pipeline. Geosmithia members are mitosporic filamentous fungi commonly recorded and isolated from bark beetles of the Scolytinae subfamily and their respective host's species. This genus includes 18 species formally described and 38 phylogenetic species recorded in several localities from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America, where they exhibit frequent associations with phloeophagous and wood-boring bark beetles. Among phloephagous bark beetle species, specifically, in members of the genus Phloeosinus Chapuis, almost 10% of Geosmithia strains have been isolated. By its physiographic elements and high bark beetle and conifer species richness, Mexico is a potential region to host a high diversity of Geosmithia species and potential new species. In the present study, we systematically sampled and isolated, cultured, and molecularly identified members of the Geosmithia species associated with Phloeosinus spp. and their Juniperus spp. host trees at the north of Sierra Madre Oriental, at Nuevo Leon State, Mexico. Phylogenetic analyses based on 378 internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) sequences supported the presence of strains from Geosmithia langdonii-Geosmithia sp. 32 clade associated with Phloeosinus serratus vector and with Juniperus coahuilensis (JC) host, and the presence of strains from Geosmithia sp. 21-Geosmithia xerotolerans clade with Phloeosinusdeleoni and Juniperus flaccida (JF) in this geographical region. The genetic and morphological differences found in our strains with respect to those previously described in the species from both clades (Geosmithia langdonii-Geosmithia sp. 32 and Geosmithia sp. 21-G. xerotolerans) suggest that both Geosmithia lineages from Nuevo Leon correspond to two potential new species in the genus. We study the role of dephasing in transport through different structures. We show that interference effects invalidate Kirchhoff's circuit laws in quantum devices and illustrate the emergence of Ohmic conduction under strong dephasing. We present circuits where the particle transport and the direction of rectification can be controlled through the dephasing strength. This suggests the possibility of constructing molecular devices with new functionalities which use dephasing as a control parameter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
