Background: Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among females globally, with a high incidence and high mortality among females in developing countries. This retrospective case-control study aimed to investigate the association between oral contraceptives and cervical cancer, on which insufficient evidence still exists. Material and Methods: To examine the association between oral contraceptives and cervical cancer based on 7,496 females aged over 20 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, multivariable logistic regression conducted from 1999 to 2016 was used. Results: Contraceptive use was positively associated with cervical cancer risk. In model 1 (unadjusted), a 195% increased risk of cervical cancer was observed among those who used oral contraceptives (odds ratio [OR] = 2.27, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.39-3.98, p = 0.002) compared to those who did not. In addition, the ORs for the exposed population were 1.74 (95% CI = 1.05-3.08, p = 0.041) and 1.93 (95% CI = 1.16-3.44, p = 0.017) in model 2 (adjusted for age, race, and body mass index [BMI]) and model 3 (adjusted for education level, ratio of family income to poverty, drinking status, smoking status, number of pregnancies, age at first sex, number of sexual partners, and whether to receive the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in addition to model 2), respectively. Furthermore, subgroup analyses stratified by age, smoking status, BMI, age at first sex, number of sexual partners, and whether to receive the HPV vaccine also revealed that oral contraceptives were significantly associated with cervical cancer. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that oral contraceptive use increased the risk of cervical cancer. In addition, the higher risk, including individuals older than 45 years, having a high BMI (≥30 kg/m2), being current smokers, and having more than five sexual partners, may contribute to the development of cervical cancer. Objective: To understand the depression, anxiety, stress and other mental health conditions of personnel undergoing hospital isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and the influencing factors. Methods: This was retrospective study. A total of 120 personnel undergoing Baoding No.1 Hospital isolation who completed the questionnaires were included from June 10, 2021 to February 07, 2022. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9), the Generalized Anxiety Scale (GAD7) and psychological stress measurement table (PSTR) were used for psychological problem screening for personnel undergoing hospital isolation. Results: The incidence of depression was the lowest, while that of stress was the highest. The difference in the incidence of depression, anxiety and stress among personnel undergoing hospital isolation with different gender, age, income statuses, marital statuses and attitude towards isolation was statistically significant (p< 0.05), while the difference in the incidence of these problems among personnel with different degree of education was not statistically significant(p> 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age, gender, marital status, economic status and attitude towards isolation are factors associated with stress. Economic status and attitude towards isolation are factors associated with depression. A high economic level is a protective factor against depression, while a negative attitude is a risk factor for depression. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, anxiety, depression and stress increased to different extents in personnel undergoing hospital isolation, especially in females with poor economic conditions and poor attitudes towards isolation. Objectives: To compare and analyze the incidence of anxiety and depression of infectious disease fever patients in hospitalized isolation and home isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the risk factors for the negative emotions of hospitalized isolation patients. Methods: Forty isolated infectious disease fever patients in Baoding No.1 Hospital were randomly selected as the study group, and the other 40 isolated infectious disease fever patients at home were randomly selected as the control group from March 2020 to August 2020. The scores and prevalence of depression and anxiety between the two groups were compared and analyzed. The logistic regression analysis was used to judge and analyze the negative psychological factors of hospitalized isolation patients such as depression and anxiety. Results: The HAMA and HAMD-17 scores of study group are significantly higher than those of control group (HAMA, p=0.00; HAMD-17, p=0.01). The prevalence of anxiety and depression in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (p=0.03, p=0.04). The gender (p=0.002), economic status (p=0.004) and isolation attitude (p=0.023) are the related factors of anxiety, among which economic status is the protective factor, while women and resistant attitude are the risk factors. Economic status (p=0.003) and isolation attitude (p=0.001) are the related factors of depression, among which economic status is the protective factor, and resistant attitude is the risk factor. Conclusion: The prevalence and severity of anxiety and depression in hospitalized isolation patients due to infectious disease fever are significantly higher than those of home isolation patients. The focus groups are women, with bad economic status and poor isolation attitude. As one of the most crucial scenarios of the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs) pay more attention to the information-intensive data (e.g., audio, video, image) for remote environments. The area coverage reflects the perception of WMSNs to the surrounding environment, where a good coverage effect can ensure effective data collection. Given the harsh and complex physical environment of WMSNs, which easily form the sensing overlapping regions and coverage holes by random deployment. The intention of our research is to deal with the optimization problem of maximizing the coverage rate in WMSNs. By proving the NP-hard of the coverage enhancement of WMSNs, inspired by the predation behavior of army ants, this article proposes a novel swarm intelligence (SI) technology army ant search optimizer (AASO) to solve the above problem, which is implemented by five operators: army ant and prey initialization, recruited by prey, attack prey, update prey, and build ant bridge. The simulation results demonstrate that the optimizer shows good performance in terms of exploration and exploitation on benchmark suites when compared to other representative SI algorithms. Kidney cancer is among the most important causes of cancer-associated mortality worldwide. The present study aimed to evaluate protein kinase C α (PKCα) expression in kidney cancer tissues and cell lines, and its significance in apoptosis and migration. Expression of PKCα was analyzed using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. In addition, the inhibitor of PKCα (calphostin C and GO6976) was used to treat kidney cancer cells. The ACHN cell line was generated with PKCα-small-interfering RNA (siRNA) and a stable expression of PKCα, in order to facilitate the analysis of apoptosis and migration of PKCα during knockdown and inactivation. Flow cytometry was used to determine the rates of apoptosis. Immunohistochemical staining was used to identify the localization of PKCα in renal clear cell carcinoma and normal sections. PKCα expression in normal tissues was found to be greater than in cancerous tissues. Furthermore, apoptosis was not promoted with PKCα inhibitors or PKCα-siRNA treatment, and a decrease of the migration ability was observed following transfection with PKCα-dominant negative. Background: The netrin-1 receptor UNC5B plays vital roles in angiogenesis, inflammation, embryonic development and carcinogenesis. However, the functional significance of UNC5B overexpression in bladder cancer remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of UNC5B in bladder cancer in vitro and in vivo. Methods: Stable transfection of the human bladder cancer cell line 5637 with UNC5B (5637-U) was confirmed by real-time RT-PCR, western blot and immunofluorescence assays. UNC5B expression in 5637 and 5637-U cells and mice tumor specimens derived from these cell lines was analyzed by immunohistochemistryand western blotting. Changes in the levels of cell cycle proteins were evaluated by western blotting. Flow cytometry, CCK-8 and scratch tests were used to examine cell cycle distribution, proliferation and migration, respectively. Results: UNC5B overexpression in 5637 cells inhibited cell multiplication and migration and induced cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase, meanwhile exhibited changes in the expression of cell cycle-associated proteins, showing that UNC5B may inhibit metastatic behaviors in bladder cancer cells. In addition, tumors generated from 5637-U cells were smaller than tumors generated from control 5637 cells. Objective: Repeated alcohol drinking and withdrawal induce negative affective states, promoting alcohol use disorders (AUDs) development, linked with mesolimbic dopamine (DA) hypofunction but lack clear mechanisms. The present study explores the role of nociceptin (N/OFQ) signaling of GABAergic VTA-projecting neurons in the rostromedial tegmental nucleus (RMTg) on the adverse behaviors associated with AUDs. Methods: Adult Long-Evans rats were trained to chronically intermittently consume water (Naive) or alcohol (Post-EtOH). The approaches, including FISH and immunostaining combined with retrograde tracing, LCM coupled with qPCR, chemogenetic and pharmacological tools combined with behavioral tests, and electrophysiological recording, were used in this study. Results: The RMTg neurons express Pnoc and Oprl1 genes and exert an inhibitory input onto VTA DA neurons. Chemogenetic inactivating RMTg decreased the cFos expression, mitigated anxiety and depressive symptoms, and reduced alcohol consumption in Post-EtOH rats, which was mimicked by local activating nociceptin receptors (NOP). Moreover, blocking RMTg NOP increased cFos expression and elicited the above aberrant behaviors in naïve rats. Additionally, chemogenetic inactivating RMTg neurons reduced GABA release and accelerated VTA DA neurons' spontaneous firings. Finally, pharmacological inhibiting unilateral RMTg combined with activating DA D1/2 receptors in the contralateral (but not ipsilateral) NAc mitigated the negative moods in Post- EtOH rats. Conclusion: RMTg N/OFQ signaling plays a crucial role in the aversive behaviors during AUDs. Intervention targeting RMTg NOP may help those suffering from AUDs. In numerous types of cancer, the Ras-associated tumor suppressor gene aplasia Ras homolog member I (ARHI), is downregulated. However, the function of ARHI in renal cancer remains to be elucidated. The present study investigated whether the suppressor gene ARHI influenced the growth of renal cancer cell lines and aimed to elucidate its mechanism of action, using the techniques of cell biology and molecular pathology. To the best of our knowledge, the present study was the first to determine the effects of ARHI on human renal cancer cells in vivo and in vitro. It was demonstrated that ARHI exhibited a tumor suppressor function in OS-RC-2 cells and acted via the β-catenin signaling pathway. It was additionally confirmed that the levels of ARHI messenger RNA and protein in renal cancer tissues were lower than those in matched normal tissues. Aims The aim of this review is to assess the effects of exercise training on the symptoms of depression in heart failure ( HF) patients. Methods and results Randomized controlled trials of exercise training in patients with HF and symptoms of depression were identified. The depression data were pooled using meta-analysis, and 19 studies were identified, with a total of 3447 patients, of which 16 (3226 patients) provided data for the meta-analysis. Exercise training demonstrated significant reductions in the symptoms of depression [standardized mean difference ( SMD) -0.38, 95% confidence interval ( CI) -0.55 to −0.21], and its antidepressive effect was consistent in a number of HF groups, such as in ages under and over 65 years ( SMD −0.14, 95% CI −0.22 to −0.07 vs. SMD −0.44, 95% CI −0.61 to −0.27) and EFs of <50% ( SMD −0.38, 95% CI −0.56 to −0.20), as well as in a range of interventional strategies, including the aerobic mode ( SMD −0.40, 95% CI −0.61 to −0.19), centre, home, or combined setting ( SMD −0.61, 95% CI −0.95 to −0.27 vs. SMD −0.25, 95% CI −0.44 to −0.07 vs. SMD −0.13, 95% CI −0.21 to −0.05), and short or longer training programmes (≤12 weeks, SMD −0.50, 95% CI −0.73 to −0.27; 12-26 weeks, SMD −0.47, 95% CI −0.82 to −0.11; >26 weeks, SMD −0.12, 95% CI −0.20 to −0.04). The beneficial effects were preserved when blind design trials were considered ( SMD −0.14, 95% CI −0.22 to −0.07). Conclusion Exercise training significantly decreased the symptoms of depression in patients with HF. This benefit remained unclear in cases of HF with a normal EF and combined aerobic and strength training. Background/objective: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs (ribonucleic acids), approximately 22 nucleotides in length, that function as regulators of gene expression. Dysregulation of miRNAs has been associated with the initiation and progression of oncogenesis in humans. The cell division cycle (CDC)25 phosphatases are important regulators of the cell cycle. Their abnormal expression detected in a number of tumors implies that their dysregulation is involved in malignant transformation. Methods: Using miRNA target prediction software, we found that miR-141 could target the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) sequence of CDC25B. To shed light on the role of miR-141 in renal cell carcinogenesis, the expression of miR-141 was examined by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in renal cell carcinoma and normal tissues. The impact of miR-141 re-expression on 769-P cells was analyzed using 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and colony-forming assay. A luciferase reporter assay was applied to prove the functionality of the miR-141 binding site. Results: miR-141 is significantly downregulated in renal cell carcinoma. miR-141 re-expression suppressed cell growth in 769-P cells. Luciferase expression from a reporter vector containing the CDC25B-3'UTR was decreased when this construct was transfected with miR-141 in 769-P cells. The overexpression of miR-141 suppressed the endogenous CDC25B protein level in 769-P cells. Conclusion: For the first time, we demonstrated that CDC25B is a direct target of miR-141 in renal cell carcinoma. The transcriptional loss of miR-141 and the resultant increase in CDC25B expression facilitates increased genomic instability at an early stage of renal cell carcinoma development. SMS4 is a 128-bit block cipher used in the WAPI standard for wireless networks in China. In this paper, we analyze the security of the SMS4 block cipher against differential cryptanalysis. Firstly, we prove three theorems and one corollary that reflect relationships of 5- and 6-round SMS4. Next, by these relationships, we clarify the minimum number of active S-boxes in 6-, 7- and 12-round SMS4 respectively. Finally, based on the above results, we present a family of about 214 differential characteristics for 19-round SMS4, which leads to an attack on 23-round SMS4 with 2118 chosen plaintexts and 2126 :7 encryptions.
