Resonators based on two-dimensional (2D) materials have exceptional properties for application as nanomechanical sensors, which allows them to operate at high frequencies with high sensitivity. However, their performance as nanomechanical sensors is currently limited by their low quality (Q)-factor. Here, we make use of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) to apply pure in-plane mechanical strain, enhancing both their resonance frequency and Q-factor. In contrast to earlier work, the 2D material resonators are fabricated on the MEMS actuators without any wet processing steps using a dry-transfer method. A platinum clamp, which is deposited by electron beam-induced deposition, is shown to be effective in fixing the 2D membrane to the MEMS and preventing slippage. By in-plane straining the membranes in a purely mechanical fashion, we increase the tensile energy, thereby diluting dissipation. This way, we show how dissipation dilution can increase the Q -factor of 2D material resonators by 91%. The presented MEMS actuated dissipation dilution method does not only pave the way toward higher Q -factors in resonators based on 2D materials, but also provides a route toward studies of the intrinsic loss mechanisms of 2D materials in the monolayer limit. Deep learning models are often evaluated in scenarios where the data distribution is different from those used in the training and validation phases. The discrepancy presents a challenge for accurately predicting the performance of models once deployed on the target distribution. Domain adaptation and generalization are widely recognized as effective strategies for addressing such shifts, thereby ensuring reliable performance. The recent promising results in applying vision transformers in computer vision tasks, coupled with advancements in self-attention mechanisms, have demonstrated their significant potential for robustness and generalization in handling distribution shifts. Motivated by the increased interest from the research community, our paper investigates the deployment of vision transformers in domain adaptation and domain generalization scenarios. For domain adaptation methods, we categorize research into feature-level, instance-level, model-level adaptations, and hybrid approaches, along with other categorizations with respect to diverse strategies for enhancing domain adaptation. Similarly, for domain generalization, we categorize research into multi-domain learning, meta-learning, regularization techniques, and data augmentation strategies. We further classify diverse strategies in research, underscoring the various approaches researchers have taken to address distribution shifts by integrating vision transformers. The inclusion of comprehensive tables summarizing these categories is a distinct feature of our work, offering valuable insights for researchers. Background: Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is an inflammatory disease characterized by increased reactive oxygen species. Diets rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may be linked to a reduced risk of developing HT. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and dietary total antioxidant capacity (DTAC) with HT in Iranian adults. Methods: The study was a hospital-based case-control study conducted on 230 participants (115 cases and 115 controls). Dietary intake was assessed using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). The FFQ data were used to calculate DII and DTAC scores. Anthropometric measurements, thyroid function, and antibody tests were evaluated using standard methods. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed in both raw and adjusted models to determine the association between DII and DTAC scores with HT. Results: The average age of the participants was 39.76 ± 9.52 years. The mean body mass index in the case and control groups was 28.03 ± 6.32 and 26.43 ± 5.13 (kg/m2), respectively (P = 0.036). In the HT group, the DII level was higher (P < 0.001) and the DTAC level was lower than those in the healthy group (P = 0.047). In the multivariable logistic regression model, after adjusting for confounding factors, subjects in the last tertile of DII had a nonsignificantly higher HT risk than those in the first tertile (OR = 1.75; 95% CI = 0.83–3.65; P = 0.130). Regarding DTAC, the subjects in the last tertile of DTAC had a significantly decreased risk of HT (OR = 0.47; 95% CI = 0.23–0.98; P = 0.043) compared to those in the first tertile. The DII had a positive correlation with anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO), thyroglobulin antibodies (TG-Ab) and thyroid-stimulating hormone, while DTAC had a negative correlation with anti-TPO and TG-Ab (P < 0.050). Conclusion: The increase in DII is not associated with an increase in the risk of HT, while DTAC can significantly reduce its risk. Purpose: In this research, the free vibration sensitivity analysis of cracked fiber metal laminated (FML) beams is investigated numerically and experimentally. The effects of single and double cracks on the frequency of the cantilever beams are simulated using the finite element method (FEM) and compared to the experimental results. Design/methodology/approach: In FEM analysis, the crack defect is simulated by the contour integral technique without considering the crack growth. The specimens are fabricated with an aluminum sheet, woven carbon fiber and epoxy resin. The FML specimens are constructed by bonding five layers as [carbon fiber-epoxy/Al/carbon fiber-epoxy/Al/carbon fiber-epoxy]. First, the location and length of cracks are considered input factors for the frequency sensitivity analysis. Then, the design of the experiment is produced in the cases of single and double cracks to compute the frequency of the beams in the first and second modes using the FEM. The mechanical shaker is used to determine the natural frequency of the specimens. In addition, the predicted response values of the frequency for the beam are used to compare with the experimental results. Findings: Consequently, the results of the sensitivity analysis demonstrate that the location and length of the crack have significant effects on the modes. The ultimate isolation offered by levitation provides new opportunities for studying fundamental science and realizing ultra-sensitive floating sensors. Among different levitation schemes, diamagnetic levitation is attractive because it allows stable levitation at room temperature without a continuous power supply. While the dynamics of diamagnetically levitating objects in the linear regime are well studied, their nonlinear dynamics have received little attention. Here, we experimentally and theoretically study the nonlinear dynamic response of graphite resonators that levitate in permanent magnetic traps. By large amplitude actuation, we drive the resonators into nonlinear regime and measure their motion using laser Doppler interferometry. Unlike other magnetic levitation systems, here we observe a resonance frequency reduction with amplitude in a diamagnetic levitation system that we attribute to the softening effect of the magnetic force. We then analyze the asymmetric magnetic potential and construct a model that captures the experimental nonlinear dynamic behavior over a wide range of excitation forces. We also investigate the linearity of the damping forces on the levitating resonator, and show that although eddy current damping remains linear over a large range, gas damping opens a route for tuning nonlinear damping forces via the squeeze-film effect. Core/shell Fe@Au nanostructures with their unique physicochemical properties have been widely studied in a wide variety of biomedical programs, such as imaging, biosensing, hyperthermia, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. Core/shell hematite (α-Fe2O3)@Au nanotruffles were synthesized using Rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract as natural reducing agent. First, hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were fabricated using phenolic compounds in rosemary extract. Then, the Au nanoparticles were coated on the α-Fe2O3 core nanoparticles without utilizing any intermediate material. The physicochemical properties of the Fe2O3@Au nanotruffles were evaluated by XRD, FTIR, FESEM-EDAX, HR-TEM, and XPS. Due to the specific morphology of Fe2O3@Au nanotruffles, the Au shell thickness varied from 2.3 to 9 nm in different regions. The toxicity of the core/shell α-Fe2O3@Au nanotruffles with different concentrations was evaluated on human glioblastoma U87 cancer and PC12 pheochromocytoma cells based on MTT assay. The results established that these nanotruffles had the high toxicity effect on glioblastoma cells at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. Suspended drums made of 2D materials hold potential for sensing applications. However, the industrialization of these applications is hindered by significant device-to-device variations presumably caused by non-uniform stress distributions induced by the fabrication process. Here, we introduce a methodology to determine the stress distribution from their mechanical resonance frequencies and corresponding mode shapes as measured by a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV). To avoid limitations posed by the optical resolution of the LDV, we leverage a manufacturing process to create ultra-large graphene drums with diameters of up to 1000 μm. We solve the inverse problem of a Föppl–von Kármán plate model by an iterative procedure to obtain the stress distribution within the drums from the experimental data. Our results show that the generally used uniform pre-tension assumption overestimates the pre-stress value, exceeding the averaged stress obtained by more than 47%. Moreover, it is found that the reconstructed stress distributions are bi-axial, which likely originates from the transfer process. The introduced methodology allows one to estimate the tension distribution in drum resonators from their mechanical response and thereby paves the way for linking the used fabrication processes to the resulting device performance. This study investigated the mitigating effects of spermidine on salinity-stressed yarrow plants (Achillea millefolium L.), an economically important medicinal crop. Plants were treated with four salinity levels (0, 30, 60, 90 mM NaCl) and three spermidine concentrations (0, 1.5, 3 μM). Salinity induced electrolyte leakage in a dose-dependent manner, increasing from 22% at 30 mM to 56% at 90 mM NaCl without spermidine. However, 1.5 μM spermidine significantly reduced leakage across salinities by 1.35–11.2% relative to untreated stressed plants. Photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, b, carotenoids) also exhibited salinity- and spermidine-modulated responses. While salinity decreased chlorophyll a, both spermidine concentrations increased chlorophyll b and carotenoids under most saline conditions. Salinity and spermidine synergistically elevated osmoprotectants proline and total carbohydrates, with 3 μM spermidine augmenting proline and carbohydrates up to 14.4% and 13.1% at 90 mM NaCl, respectively. Antioxidant enzymes CAT, POD and APX displayed complex regulation influenced by treatment factors. Moreover, salinity stress and spermidine also influenced the expression of linalool and pinene synthetase genes, with the highest expression levels observed under 90 mM salt stress and the application of 3 μM spermidine. The findings provide valuable insights into the responses of yarrow plants to salinity stress and highlight the potential of spermidine in mitigating the adverse effects of salinity stress. Iran is situated in a region with natural bitumen deposits and bitumen mines. This study compared the hydrogeochemical and isotopic composition of groundwater contaminated by abandoned bitumen mines (GCBM) with the deep formation water of oil reservoirs (FWOR). The GCBM was found to be dominated by Ca2+, Na+, SO42−, and Cl−, and is typically characterized by Ca–SO4 type water, in contrast to the Na–Cl type in the FWOR. The δ2HH2O and δ18OH2O isotopes were valuable tools to distinguish the groundwater sources, as the isotope signatures of GCBM and FWOR samples are markedly different. Ionic ratio diagrams, such as Na2+ vs. Cl−, Ca2+ vs. Cl−, and SO42− vs. Cl−, indicate that the groundwater chemistry in the study area is mainly influenced by gypsum and carbonate dissolution due to mining. The concentration of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) ranged from 26.3 to 19,670 µg/L in the GCBM samples. This study confirmed unacceptable levels of groundwater contamination by TPH caused by seepage from abandoned bitumen mines and established a framework for future groundwater remediation efforts in the study area. Currently, available conventional scaling methodologies are suffering from many deficiencies, which the most important ones can be listed as: (i) the inability to systematically capture the different material properties of full- and small-scale models, (ii) the inability to simultaneously fix two parameters having the same unit, and (iii) a limited number of independent degrees of freedom. To overcome these issues, a new theory called finite similitude has recently been developed. This paper aims to employ the recently introduced finite similitude theory for the scaled analysis of concrete structures. By conducting static three-point bending test on concrete beams at distinct scales, it is revealed that the response behavior of the prototype can be predicted to a good accuracy using small-scale trial models. Scaled-down models are designed based on the zeroth-order finite similitude theory and made from same and different granulations than the prototype. Also, the developed zeroth-order based scaling methodology enables us to experiment scaled-down plaster-rock structures rather than concrete structures. It is found that small-scale plaster-rock models, which can be prepared in much less time and at a lower cost, predict both local and global response behavior of the full-scale concrete structure with a high accuracy. Moreover, using the first-order finite similitude theory to take into account the elastic behavior and considering the scaled-down plaster-rock models as the second trial models, predictions of small-scale concrete models from the local response behavior of the full-scale model are significantly enhanced. Sulfonic acid-supported vanillin/bis indolylmethane-functionalized Fe3O4@SiO2-Propyl NPs were prepared and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, VSM, EDX, DLS, and TGA-DTG. The catalytic efficiency of the prepared nanoparticles was subsequently investigated for the effective synthesis of imidazoquinazolines via the one-pot condensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole, aryl aldehydes, and cyclohexanone or dimedone under solvent-free condition. High concentrations of NO3̄ in water resources are detrimental to both human health and aquatic ecosystems. Identification of NO3̄ sources and biogeochemical processes is a crucial step in managing and controlling NO3̄ pollution. In this study, land use, hydrochemical data, dual stable isotopic ratios and Bayesian Stable Isotope Mixing Models (BSIMM) were integrated to identify NO3̄ sources and estimate their proportional contributions to the contamination of the Karaj Urban Aquifer (Iran). Elevated NO3̄ concentrations indicated a severe NO3̄ pollution, with 39 and 52% of groundwater (GW) samples displaying the concentrations of NO3̄ in exceedance of the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 50 mg NO3̄ L−1 in the rainy and dry seasons, respectively. Dual stable isotopes inferred that urban sewage is the main NO3̄ source in the Karaj Plain. The diagram of NO3̄/Cl‾ versus Cl‾ confirmed that municipal sewage is the major source of NO3̄. Results also showed that biogeochemical nitrogen dynamics are mainly influenced by nitrification, while denitrification is minimal. The BSIMM model suggested that NO3̄ originated predominantly from urban sewage (78.2%), followed by soil organic nitrogen (12.2%), and chemical fertilizer (9.5%) in the dry season. In the wet season, the relative contributions of urban sewage, soil nitrogen and chemical fertilizer were 87.5, 6.7, and 5.5%, respectively. The sensitivity analysis for the BSIMM modeling indicates that the isotopic signatures of sewage had the major impact on the overall GW NO3̄ source apportionment. The findings provide important insights for local authorities to support effective and sustainable GW resources management in the Karaj Urban Aquifer. Background: It is desirable in estrus synchronization in sheep to avoid intravaginal devices and to shorten the program from 14 to 6 days. Moreover, replacement of eCG with safe, cheap, and efficient gonadotropin is in worldwide demand. Aims: This study investigates the possibility of replacing eCG with human recombinant FSH (hrFSH) and CIDR with progesterone injections for estrous synchronization in ewes. Methods: Assaf and Lacaune ewes (n=170) were divided into two groups and synchronized with either progesterone injections for 6 days or CIDR for 14 days. Ewes assigned in the injection group, received progesterone (37.5 mg; SC) and GnRH analogue (7.5 µg Alarelin acetate; IM) on day 0 of the experiment. On days 3 and 6, ewes received 25 and 12.5 mg progesterone (SC), respectively. On day 6, ewes in both groups received prostaglandin F2a (250 µg Cloprostenol; IM), and were divided into two subgroups to receive either hrFSH (75 IU Follitropin alfa; SC) or eCG (400 IU; IM). On day 7, fertile rams were introduced to ewes for 21 days. Data were analyzed using GLM and Glimmix. Results: There was no difference in the respective lambing rates, prolificacy, and fecundity between CIDR (71.1, 1.63, and 1.16%) and injections (66.7, 1.55, and 1.03%); between eCG (71.4, 1.60, and 1.14%), and hrFSH (66.3, 1.58, and 1.05%, P>0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, 6-day progesterone injectionbased protocol produced similar results to 14-day CIDR program and hrFSH could be an effective alternative for eCG during estrus synchronization in ewes. Although strain engineering and soft-clamping techniques for attaining high Q-factors in nanoresonators have received much attention, their impact on nonlinear dynamics is not fully understood. In this study, we show that nonlinearity of high-Q Si3N4 nanomechanical string resonators can be substantially tuned by support design. Through careful engineering of support geometries, we control both stress and mechanical nonlinearities, effectively tuning nonlinear stiffness of two orders of magnitude. Our approach also allows control over the sign of the Duffing constant resulting in nonlinear softening of the mechanical mode that conventionally exhibits hardening behavior. We elucidate the influence of support design on the magnitude and trend of the nonlinearity using both analytical and finite element-based reduced-order models that validate our experimental findings. Our work provides evidence of the role of soft-clamping on the nonlinear dynamic response of nanoresonators, offering an alternative pathway for nullifying or enhancing nonlinearity in a reproducible and passive manner. In the design optimization of resonance frequencies and Q-factor of nanomechanical resonators, the influence of geometric design on the nonlinear dynamics has been rarely investigated. Aripiprazole is an efficacious treatment for both the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia and is also commonly used as a mood stabilizer. It is associated with better tolerability compared with other antipsychotics. However, there are reports of patients who experience problem gambling, hypersexuality, obsessive–compulsive symptoms, and other impulsive and/or compulsive behaviors as a result of aripiprazole administration and/or dosage increase. We aimed to do a systematic review of case reports published in this regard. After screening more than 6000 titles and abstracts in ten scientific search engines, we found 35 related records comprising 59 cases. The majority of cases (n = 42, 71.18%) were male, the mean age was 33.83 years (± 13.40), and the average daily dose of aripiprazole was 11.63 mg (± 6.94). The results of our review showed that the most frequently published impulsivity adverse effect of aripiprazole is gambling, followed by hypersexuality, obsessive–compulsive symptoms/disorder, problem eating, trichotillomania, problem shopping, and kleptomania. These symptoms were experienced both by patients who had previous problems in these areas and those who did not. In the majority of cases, the symptoms appeared within 30 days after aripiprazole administration started and ceased within 30 days of its discontinuation and/or dose decrease. We develop and analyze a new mathematical model for intravenous drug administration and the associated diffusion process. We use interval analysis to obtain a system of weakly singular Volterra integral equations over ordinary functions. We then use the operational method based on Chebyshev polynomials for obtaining an approximate solution of the numerical form. We show that for a certain class of fuzzy number valued functions, their generalized Hukuhara derivatives can be reduced to the derivatives of ordinary real-valued functions. Aim: The primary purpose of the current study is to propose a model for predicting suicidal ideation based on early maladaptive schemas, with the mediation of interpersonal needs among high school students. Method: Employing a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach, the research investigated the interplay between early maladaptive schemas and interpersonal needs. The methodology was purposefully, applied research, correlational in its descriptive nature, and rigorously adherent to the SEM design. The study encompassed the entire second-grade high school student population in Qazvin City during the academic year 2022-2023. A stratified multistage cluster sampling method systematically extracted a random sample of 600 students. Data collection utilized three standardized instruments: Beck's Suicidal Ideation Scale (BSSI), the Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (YSQ-SF), and the Interpersonal Needs Questionnaire (INQ). Robust data analysis employed SPSS 25 and Smart PLS software. Findings: The results indicated that early maladaptive schemas exerted an indirect influence on suicidal ideation, mediated through interpersonal needs. Conversely, no direct effect of early maladaptive schemas on suicidal ideation was observed. Early maladaptive schemas, however, exhibited a direct association with interpersonal needs, (thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness), both of which demonstrated a direct correlation with suicidal ideation. The model's adequacy was confirmed through goodness-of-fit indices (GOF=0.73, SRMR=0.07, NFI=0.86). Conclusion: The theoretical implications of this study significantly contributed to the understanding of the intricate relationships influencing suicidal ideation among high school students. Furthermore, the practical applications of these findings extended to educational organizations and counseling centers, offering valuable insights for the development of targeted interventions aimed at reducing suicide rates in this demographic. Owing to their atomic thickness and low bending rigidity, suspended two-dimensional (2D) materials are prone to wrinkle formation. Here, we use molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to probe the effect of these wrinkles on the nonlinear elasticity of atomically thin graphene membranes. We observe a stress–strain response that consists of two linear regions that are separated by a transition. It is found that this transition is sharp in membranes where wrinkles are formed by uneven stresses at the boundaries. However, when wrinkles are formed by crystal defects, this nonlinear transition is seen to be more gradual. To capture these effects, we use a phenomenological model based on experimentally measurable quantities. We demonstrate the model's fidelity by fitting it to the MD simulated nonlinear response of many graphene membranes providing evidence that the sharpness of the transition between the linear regions in the stress–strain response is a measure of the type of wrinkles and can be quantified by our model. The present study explored demographic factors associated with general and electronic health literacy in the Iranian adult population. Via stratified cluster sampling, trained interviewers visited adult residents in Qazvin Province, Iran between January, and April 2022. The participants (N = 9775; mean age = 36.44 years; 6576 [67.3%] females) completed the Health Literacy Instrument for Adults (HELIA) assessing health literacy and the eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) assessing electronic health literacy. Demographic data, including age, gender, educational level, marital status, and living location (city or rural), were collected. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to classify the participants into different health literacy/electronic health literacy levels. The relationships between health literacy/electronic health literacy levels and demographic factors were examined using χ2 or analysis of variance. The LCA used HELIA scores to suggest five classes of health literacy and eHEALS scores to suggest three classes of electronic health literacy. For general and electronic health literacy, similar relationships were with demographic factors: females as compared with males had better general/electronic health literacy; younger people as compared with older people had better general/electronic health literacy; higher educational level was associated with better general/electronic health literacy; and city residents as compared with rural residents had better general/electronic health literacy. In conclusion, Iranian governmental agencies may wish to target on males, older adults, people with low educational level, and rural residents to improve their health literacy. Regarding the important role of iron in the physiological process in fish bodies and the presence of iron nanoparticles (Fe-NPS) in the aquatic environment, this study was designed to evaluate the effects of Fe-NPS on the intestinal bacterial flora and histology of the intestine and kidney in a stellate sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus Pallas, 1771). Juvenile stellate sturgeon, averaging 182.09±9.05 g, were fed with diets containing varying doses of Fe-NPs: 0 (T0), 25 (T1), 50 (T2), and 100 (T3) mg·kg-1 of food for 60 days. Based on the glucose and cortisol levels in different treatments, it seems that the best dose of Fe-NPs for stellate sturgeon was 50 mg·kg-1 food (T2) under experimental conditions. The most important histological changes observed in the intestine were the shortening of the intestinal villi, a high number of mucus-secreting cells, and mucosal secretions within the intestinal tract. These changes in the kidney were shrinkage of renal glomeruli, increasing Bowman's capsule space, mild degeneration of renal tubules, and infiltration of white blood cells into the kidney tissue. The most effective dose of Fe-NPs was 50 mg·kg-1 Fe-NPs with a less negative effect on fish intestine and kidney histology. Fe-NPs led to a significant increase in the mean total count of aerobic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria. Generally, the fish food supplemented with 50 mg·kg-1 Fe-NPs led to the least stress and histological damage in the kidney and intestine and the highest number of intestinal bacterial flora in the stellate sturgeon. Introduction: Agricultural insurance is one of the most important mechanisms for creating investment and reducing the effects of natural disasters. One of the types of modern insurance is weather index-based insurance, which is designed based on the climatic parameters of each region. Methods: In this study, the effective factors on the acceptance of the proposed weather index-based insurance plan by gardeners in Darab city were investigated using a Choice experiment model. Four characteristics of climate-based index insurance including the number of climate indicators covered type of orange, payment method and insurance premium per hectare were examined. Findings: If the insurance plan for Valencia Orange and insurance premiums is paid in installments, gardeners are more likely to participate in the plan. On the other hand, if the insurance plan includes more climate indicators, gardeners are more likely to participate. Also, the number of indices (three indices) and the type of orange (Valencia) with 93112 and 24425 Tomans, respectively, have the highest willingness to pay among the various characteristics. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is suggested that the Agricultural Insurance Fund, while considering the important features of the Climate Index Insurance Plan (number of indices, payment method and type of oranges), provide complete information to gardeners to increase gardeners' participation in this plan. Graphene-drum-enabled nanomotion detection can play an important role in probing life at the nanoscale. By combining micro- and nanomechanical systems with optics, nanomotion sensors bridge the gap between mechanics and cellular biophysics. They have allowed investigation of processes involved in metabolism, growth, and structural organization of a large variety of microorganisms, ranging from yeasts to bacterial cells. Using graphene drums, these processes can now be resolved at the single-cell level. In this Perspective, we discuss the key achievements of nanomotion spectroscopy and peek forward into the prospects for application of this single-cell technology in clinical settings. Background.: This study compared human β-defensin 1 (hBD-1) salivary levels in patients with periodontitis before and after phase I periodontal therapy. Methods.: This controlled before-and-after study included 16 patients in the intervention group and 28 participants in the control group. Patients in the intervention group had stage 3 grade B periodontitis with no systemic diseases and had not taken any medications in the last six months. The control group included participants with healthy periodontium. Before and after phase I periodontal therapy, salivary samples were collected from the intervention group. ELISA was used to measure hBD-1 levels. Results.: Salivary levels of hBD-1 decreased after phase I periodontal treatment in periodontitis patients, approaching those in healthy individuals. However, this reduction was not statistically significant (P =0.389). In patients with a probing depth (PD) of at least 3 mm, salivary levels of hBD-1 decreased significantly (P =0.019) following the intervention. There was no significant correlation between changes in hBD-1 levels and clinical indices, such as clinical attachment loss (CAL), probing depth, or bleeding index (BI) (P ˃0.05). Conclusion.: The current study demonstrated promising results concerning a probable link between hBD-1 and periodontitis. Background: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with hematological malignancies. Given the considerable prevalence and consequences of IFIs, hence revealing the exact cause of fungal infections, their rate, associated risk factors, and complications could contribute to reducing both financial and life costs, choosing targeted antifungal treatment, and avoiding unnecessary toxic treatments in individuals who are not suffering from mycoses. Materials and Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted in the first semester of 2019. All patients with hematologic malignancies (HM) admitted to Dr. Shariati Hospital were studied. Only those with probable/proven IFIs defined according to the last update of EORTC/MSG criteria were included in the study. The demographic and clinical data were recorded from the hospital information registration system using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software version 24. Results: Out of 1109 HM patients hospitalized during the study period, 67 (6.04%) IFIs were diagnosed. Of these, 57 (85.04%) were aspergillosis, 7 (10.4%) were mucormycosis, and 3 patients developed other fungal infections. Males constituted 67.2% of the entire IFI population. The mean±SD age of the samples was 43.16 ± 13.8 years. The most common type of malignancy was AML. Lung imaging showed lesions associated with fungal infections in 52 cases (77.6%), with multiple nodules as the most prevalent pattern being observed in 64.2% of cases. Sinus involvement was evidenced in the PNS CT scan of 46 (68.6%) patients. The attributable mortality rate for IFIs was 62.7%. Both the types of IFI and malignancies had no significant relationship with the outcome of patients. Central venous catheter, mucositis, and antibiotic use were the most frequent risk factors. Conclusion: IFI represents a frequent complication for HM patients with high mortality. Aspergillus species are the predominant etiology in these settings. Considering our results, in high-risk patients, manifestations of warning signs in the sinus and lungs, which would not be cleared despite receiving antibiotics, should raise the possibility of IFIs. Background: The clinical evidence supports the effective role of some transcription factors in insulin synthesis and secretion. Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of 10 weeks of aerobic and resistance exerciseonthe expression of glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) in pancreatic tissue, serum insulin, and glucose concentration in male rats with type II diabetes (T2D). Methods: Type II diabetes was induced in 18 male Wistar rats (weight: 220 ± 10 g) by administering an intraperitoneal (IP) infusion of nicotinamide (110 mg/kg) and streptozotocin (25 mg/kg). The diabetic rats were then randomly assigned into three groups: (1) Control; (2) aerobic exercise; and (3) resistance exercise. The exercises lasted for 10 weeks, 5 times per week for exercise groups. The expression of GLUT2 in pancreatic tissue, serum insulin, and glucose concentration were compared between the groups following the intervention. The data between the groups were compared using the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: In comparison to the control group, the resistance and aerobic exercises caused a significant reduction in fasting blood glucose level (P = 0.001 and P = 0.001, respectively) and a significant increase in serum insulin (P = 0.001 and P = 0.013, respectively) and expression level of GLUT2 in the pancreas (P = 0.007 and P = 0.001, respectively). No significant difference was observed in the expression of GLUT2 between aerobic and resistance groups (P = 0.485). Conclusions: According to the findings of this study, apart from the effect of other hormonal and genetic components on insulin synthesis, an increase in the serum insulin and a reduction in fasting blood glucose level following the aerobic and resistance exercises can probably be attributed to the increased expression of GLUT2 in response to exercise methods. Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is one of the common causes of hypothyroidism. Although various factors are involved in its development, recently the role of oxidative stress in its pathogenesis has been known. The present study aimed to investigate the level of total antioxidant capacity (TAC), catalase (CAT), and salivary superoxide dismutase (SOD) in patients with HT compared with the control group. The present case-control design included patients aged 18-80 years suffering from HT referred to the endocrine clinic. Eligible patients were selected by the available sampling method. Complete unstimulated saliva was collected under a rest state in a comfortable room between 10:00 AM and 12:00 AM and a checklist was used to collect data. The chi-square, t-test, and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for data analysis using SPSS 22 software. The mean age of the participants was 36.55±9.37 years (range: 20-56). The two groups were the same in terms of age and gender (P>0.05). The findings indicated that the difference in the means CAT between the two groups was 22.63 which was strongly and statistically significant (P<0.001). In this study, the level of TAC and SOD in Hashimoto's thyroid patients was decreased and the level of CAT was increased. The genomes of domestic animals have been artificially selected during long periods of domestication and have led to many significant changes in their economic traits. Exploring these changes is useful to expand our knowledge about the domestication process, understand the complexity of genetic diversity in livestock, and make an appropriate breeding decision. The genotypic information of 23 individuals representing French and Swedish Holsteins was used to detect signature signs between these two breeds. Quality control and data filtering were performed using PLINK software. The principal component analysis was performed to determine genetic diversity. In addition, linkage disequilibrium (LD), ancestral, and recent effective population size (Ne) were separately estimated for each breed. The signature of selection was determined by the fixation index (FST) statistic. The corrected r2 (calculated statistics for LD) between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) decreased with increasing the physical distance from 100 Kb to 7.5 Mb (from about 0.3 to 0.09 in both breeds). These values were slightly smaller for the French breed. The effective population size was estimated at 1775 and 2120 individuals for French and Swedish Holsteins 900 generations ago to 31 and 39 in the recent generation, respectively. Overall, three regions with outlier FST values were identified as the signature of selection. The flanking SNP was mostly located on BTA2, BTA16, and BTA19. Candidate genes were found to be associated with SERTAD (liver metabolism and health), SYT14 (meat yield and marble levels), IRF6 (immune system), HSD11B19 (heat stress), LAMB3, and (fat deposition). Therefore, these potential genes can be considered invaluable genetic resources for future research to attempt to create generations of commercial breeds of cattle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Health literacy and e‐health literacy are important factors helping people shape awareness of health behaviours in different aspects, including sleep hygiene behaviours. Good sleep hygiene behaviours promote sleep quality and are beneficial to overall mental wellbeing. Objective: We aimed to examine if sleep hygiene behaviours may mediate the association between health literacy/e‐health literacy and mental wellbeing. Methods: Adult Iranian subjects (n = 9775; mean [SD] age = 36.44 [11.97] years; 67.3% females) completed the Health Literacy Instrument for Adults, eHealth Literacy Scale, three items on sleep hygiene behaviour that have been used in prior research and the Short Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale. Data were then subjected to structural equation modelling (SEM) including 500 bootstrapping resampling to examine whether sleep hygiene is a mediator in the relationship between health literacy/e‐health literacy and mental wellbeing. Findings: Both health literacy and e‐health literacy were significantly associated with mental wellbeing (r =.63 for health literacy and.39 for e‐health literacy; p <.001) and sleep hygiene behaviours (r =.58 for health literacy and.36 for e‐health literacy; p <.001). Sleep hygiene behaviours were significantly associated with mental wellbeing (r =.42; p <.001). Moreover, SEM that incorporated bootstrapping approaches indicated that sleep hygiene behaviours were significant mediators in the association between health literacy/e‐health literacy and mental wellbeing. Conclusions: We conclude that health literacy and e‐health literacy are associated with mental health wellbeing in the Iranian population. Additionally, the association could be mediated via sleep hygiene behaviours. Docking of mobile robots requires precise rawpose estimation relative to the docking platform to accomplish the task successfully. Besides, sensors data acquisitions in an indoor environment should be accurate enough for localization and navigation toward the docking platform. Groundwater from shallow and deep aquifers are widely used for drinking, agricultural and industrial use in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. However, unplanned urbanization and rapid population growth has led to the installation of numerous unlicensed wells to meet the public demand. This has caused to extraction of huge amounts of groundwater from the subsurface and further deterioration of groundwater quality. Therefore, understanding the hydrogeochemical characteristics of groundwater in shallow aquifers and deep aquifers is imperative for sustainable management of the groundwater resource in Kabul Plain. Thus, in this study, we used a multi-parameter approach, involving hydrochemical and environmental isotopes to understand the geochemical evolution of entire groundwater system of the Kabul Plain including river and dam water. The results of this study show that shallow and deep aquifers are dominantly of Mg–(Ca)–HCO3 and Na–Cl water type, respectively. We observed that (1) water–rock interaction is the major contributing factor to the chemical compositions of groundwater in the Kabul Plain; (2) groundwater in deep aquifer is mainly influenced by silicate weathering, and dissolution of evaporitic and carbonate minerals and reverse cation exchange; (3) dissolution of carbonates and silicate weathering plays a pivotal role in the groundwater chemistry of shallow aquifer; (4) the stable isotopes of groundwater display that the shallow aquifer is principally recharged by river water and local precipitation; (5) the tritium analysis exhibited that groundwater of shallow aquifer was primarily recharged recently, whereas groundwater of deep aquifer is the mixture of pre 1953 with post 1953 groundwater. This study revealed that there are hydraulic interactions between the two aquifers and the deep aquifer is recharged through shallow aquifer. The findings of this study would be useful for Afghanistan's water authorities to develop an effective strategy for sustainable water resources management in the Kabul Basin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the relationship between relative vorticity, a key variable in mid-latitude synoptic motions, and precipitation in Iran. Using the S-mode PCA, activity centers of relative vorticity and precipitation were identified. Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) was applied to the factor scores of these centers to reveal coupled patterns of relative vorticity and precipitation. The analysis is based on 500- and 850-hPa relative vorticity fields at 2.5° grid points (10°-70° E and 10°-70° N) and uses monthly relative vorticity values from NCEP-DOE reanalysis databases (1981-2020) along with standardized rainfall data from 97 Iranian synoptic stations. Three main CCA patterns reveal connections: 500-hPa relative vorticity changes in the eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, and Iran relate to eastern Iran's precipitation. Relative vorticity over Eastern Europe inversely correlates with southern Caspian Sea coast precipitation. Changes over Turkey and Cyprus can affect northwestern Iran's rainfall. The changes in 850-hPa relative vorticity over the Arabian Sea inversely link to eastern Iran's precipitation, while those over the eastern Mediterranean directly connect to western Iran's precipitation. Introduction Odontoid pathologies constitute a special category because they may lead to instability. Instability is defined by abnormal spinal alignment under physiologic conditions (loads) such as standing, walking, bending, or lifting. Since instability poses a risk of cord damage, surgical interventions may be required for durable long-term stabilization. This study demonstrates operative technique and results of endoscopic endonasal approach to the odontoid pathologies. Methods We conducted a retrospective study involving 18 patients who underwent endoscopic endonasal odontoidectomy (EEO) due to craniovertebral pathologies. Demographic data, clinical features of the patients, risk factors, and intraoperative and postoperative complications were reported in this series. Results Satisfactory outcomes achieved in 16 patients based on comparing the modified Rankin scale before and after the surgery (p = 0.0001). The mean duration for EEO was 232.6 ± 18.8 minutes. The mean blood loss during surgery was 386.67 ± 153.04 mL. The mean duration of hospital stay was 7 days. All patients were extubated within a few hours after surgery. Despite of successful anterior decompression in the aforementioned cases, intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage, postoperative meningitis, and pulmonary thromboembolism occurred as complications. However, two intraoperative CSF leakages were managed by direct dural repair and fat graft; two patients died due to postoperative meningitis and pulmonary thromboembolism at 7 and 4 days after the second surgery. Conclusion In conclusion, EEO can be effectively used for anterior decompression of the odontoid pathologies, despite the risk of complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Power series, as an important means to analyze functions in different complex settings, are employed in various applied areas to solve differential equations and nonlinear problems and provide the assessment of intervals of convergence. Accordingly, the fuzzy logistic differential equation using the Caputo operator has been studied in this paper. The generalized Hukuhara difference and the generalized Hukuhara derivative are also used, and a power series representation is proposed for the solution of the fuzzy fractional logistic equation. Afterward, power series coefficients are obtained using a recursive formula. Finally, numerical experiments and illustrated results of the computations are presented to allow for more realistic decisions reflecting high complexity and underlying uncertainty. Thus, the numerical computations in our study reveal the effectiveness and accuracy of the power series method. Therefore, it is found that the fuzzy solution converges to the deterministic solution when uncertainty decreases, and, based on the technical analyses, it has been demonstrated that the results obtained are more fundamental in preventing geometric growth in nonlinear phenomena where uncertainties emerge due to impreciseness and inexactness. Multicomponent nanoparticle systems are known for their varied properties and functions, and have shown potential as gene nanocarriers. This study aims to synthesize and characterize ternary nickel–cobalt-ferrite (NiCoFe2O4) nanoparticles with the potential to serve as gene nanocarriers for cancer/gene therapy. The biogenic nanocarriers were prepared using a simple and eco-friendly method following green chemistry principles. The physicochemical properties of the nanoparticles were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller. To evaluate the morphology of the nanoparticles, the field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy imaging, and electron tomography were conducted. Results indicate the nanoparticles have a nanoflower morphology with a mesoporous nature and a cubic spinel structure, where the rod and spherical nanoparticles became rose-like with a specific orientation. These nanoparticles were found to have minimal toxicity in human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK-293 T) cells at concentrations of 1 to 250 µg·mL–1. We also demonstrated that the nanoparticles could be used as gene nanocarriers for delivering genes to HEK-293 T cells using an external magnetic field, with optimal transfection efficiency achieved at an N/P ratio of 2.5. In this paper, crosstalk sensitivity analysis of a microwave coupled-line structure due to the fabrication imperfections is investigated using Least Square-Support Vector Machine (LS-SVM) method. Since LS-SVM uses a set of linear equations instead of a convex quadratic programming problem, the computational cost is extremely reduced compared to that of the well-known Monte Carlo (MC) analysis or even Support Vector Machine (SVM) without decreasing the accuracy. Using this method, the geometrical parameters of the coupled-line are assumed to be randomly distributed using the Latin Hypercube function and the variation range of each parameter is set to ± 50% around its central value. The frequency response of the coupled-line is estimated and compared with those of the measured and simulation ones for a few well-known practical case studies. The results show that the LS-SVM procedure quickly predicts the worst-case crosstalk expectation values and accurately anticipates the probability of obtaining various outcomes of the coupled-line for the specified parameter variation over a wide frequency range. Objective: In the last two decades, genetic studies have strongly supported the effective role of genetic factors on the synthesis of insulin from the pancreas. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of aerobic and resistance exercises on the expression of NeruoD1 and PDX1 in pancreatic tissue, as well as serum insulin and glucose levels in type 2 diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: 21 male wistar rats (220±10 g) were included. Then diabetic rats were randomly assigned into 3 groups: 1) control (no-training), 2) resistance training and 3) aerobic training. Exercise training lasted 10 weeks and 5 times weekly for training groups. After intervention, NeruoD1 and PDX1 expression in pancreas, insulin and glucose were compared between groups. Data compared by one way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test between groups (P < 0.05). Results: Compared to control rats, resistance and aerobic training led to significant increase in serum insulin (P= 0.001, P= 0.013 respectively), PDX1 expression (P= 0.001, P= 0.001 respectively) and decrease glucose (P: 0.001, P: 0.001 respectively). Significant difference was not observed between control and aerobic groups with regard to NeruoD1 expression (P= 0.077). In addition, NeruoD1 expression in resistance group was significantly higher than aerobic and control groups (P= 0.018, P= 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Despite the improvement of insulin and glucose in response to both aerobic and resistance training, it seems that resistance training affects genes affecting insulin synthesis and transcription more than aerobic training. The resonance frequency of ultra-thin layered nanomaterials changes nonlinearly with the tension induced by the pressure from the surrounding gas. Although the dynamics of pressurized nanomaterial membranes have been extensively explored, recent experimental observations show significant deviations from analytical predictions. Here, we present a multi-mode continuum model that captures the nonlinear pressure-frequency response of pre-tensioned membranes undergoing large deflections. We validate the model using experiments conducted on polysilicon nanodrums excited opto-thermally and subjected to pressure changes in the surrounding medium. We demonstrate that considering the effect of pressure on the nanodrum tension is not sufficient for determining the resonance frequencies. In fact, it is essential to also account for the change in the membrane's shape in the pressurized configuration, the mid-plane stretching, and the contributions of higher modes to the mode shapes. Finally, we show how the presented high-frequency mechanical characterization method can serve as a fast and contactless method for determining Young's modulus of ultra-thin membranes.
