Background: The analgesia after lower third molar alveolectomy is based on the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that have significant risks, and are contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy. Aiming to reduce NSAIDs use after this surgery, we quantified analgesic effects of ultrasound (US)-guided extraoral mandibular nerve block. Methods: Thirty-six patients were equally allocated to the experimental or control group, based on their willingness to receive experimental US-guided extraoral mandibular nerve block for postoperative analgesia. The experimental block applied prior to lower third molar alveolectomy, was followed by standard intraoral inferior alveolar nerve block. In the control group, patients received only intraoral block of inferior alveolar nerve. All patients reported pain level (visual analogue scale, VAS) right after the application of blocks. The next day, patients reported duration of pain-free time and the use of analgesic. Results: The US-guided extraoral mandibular nerve block prolonged the pain-free time to 8 h (vs. 4 in control group, P < 0.001) and reduced NSAIDs use (12 patients needed analgesic in experimental vs. 17 patients in control group, P = 0.038). The application of experimental block was less painful (VAS = 2) than the application of intraoral inferior alveolar nerve block (VAS = 4, P = 0.011). In 8/18 patients in the experimental group US-guided extraoral mandibular nerve block solely achieved adequate surgical anesthesia. Conclusion: US-guided extraoral mandibular nerve block prolonged pain-free period and reduced the use of NSAIDs after lower third molar alveolectomy, thus proving to be successful analgesia method for this dental surgery. Pulsed-power-driven underwater electrical explosion of cylindrical or conical wire arrays produces supersonic water jets that emerge from a bath, propagating through the air above it. Interaction of these jets with solid targets may represent a new platform for attaining materials at high pressure (>1010 Pa) conditions in a university-scale laboratory. However, measurements of the internal structure of such jets and how they interact with targets are difficult optically due to large densities and density contrasts involved. We utilized multi-frame x-ray radiographic imaging capabilities of the ID19 beamline at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility to explore the water jet and its interaction with a 50 μm thick copper foil placed a few mm from the surface of water. The jet was generated with a ∼130 kA-amplitude current pulse of ∼450 ns rise time applied to a conical wire array. X-ray imaging revealed a droplet-type structure of the jet with an average density of <400 kg/m3 propagating with a velocity of ∼1400 m/s. Measurements of deformation and subsequent perforation of the target by the jet suggested pressures at the jet–target interface of ∼5 × 109 Pa. The results were compared to hydrodynamic simulations for better understanding of the jet parameters and their interaction with the foil target. These results can be used in future research to optimize the platform, and extend it to larger jet velocities in the case of higher driving currents supplied to the wire array. In recent times, digitization is increasingly becoming a critical factor in business success. Given this, knowing the level of digitization is a key assumption for improvement in the future. Bearing that in mind, this study comparatively analyzes the level of digitization of the member states of the European Union (EU) and Serbia using the MEREC and MARCOS methods. The results indicate which member states of the European Union need to speed up the digitization process to achieve the optimal level of success in realizing the target business. A higher level of digitization means better business success. In the European Union, the highest level of digitization is in the Netherlands. Next: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and so on. The leading countries of the European Union are positioned: Germany is in eighteenth place, France is in fourteenth place and Italy is in twentieth place. In the European Union, in terms of digitization, Romania took the worst position. Serbia (twenty-eighth place) is therefore in a very bad position among the member states of the European Union and in the surrounding area (Croatia is in thirteenth place, and Slovenia is in sixteenth place). In our research, we present a data mining model for the early diagnosis of hyperinsulinemia, potentially reducing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions. The dataset, gathered from 2019 to 2022 by Serbia's Healthcare Center through an observational cross-sectional study, includes 1008 adolescents. Medical datasets are often highly imbalanced and may contain irrelevant features that hinder predictive performance. To address these challenges in the medical data analysis, we propose a model employing Functional Principal Component Analysis (FPCA), which also accounts for outliers that could otherwise lead to the inclusion of irrelevant features. Unlike standard Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which is sensitive to the initial positions of cluster centers influencing the final outcome, our model integrates FPCA with K-Means clustering to improve the preprocessing stage. Additionally, we have incorporated the post-hoc explanatory method SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) alongside algorithms such as Random Forest, XGBoost, and LightGBM to provide deeper insights into our model, identifying the most contributory features for the development of hyperinsulinemia. Experimental results showed that combining FPCA with K-Means clustering enhances the accuracy of the XGBoost classifier, with this model achieving an accuracy score of 0.99. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As manufacturing technologies advance, the integration of artificial neural networks in machining high-hardness materials and optimization of multi-objective parameters is becoming increasingly prevalent. By employing modeling and optimization strategies during the machining of such materials, manufacturers can improve surface roughness and tool life while minimizing cutting time, tool vibrations, and cutting forces. In this paper, the aim was to analyze the impact of input parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and insert radius) on surface roughness and cutting forces during the machining of 90MnCrV7 using feed-forward neural network models and SHAP analysis. Afterward, multi-criteria optimization was applied to determine the optimal parameter levels to achieve minimum surface roughness and cutting forces using the modified PSI-TOPSIS method. According to the SHAP analysis, the insert radius has the most significant impact on the surface roughness and passive force, while in the multi-criteria analysis, according to ANOVA results, the insert radius has the most significant impact on all considered outputs. The results show that an insert radius of 0.8 mm, a cutting speed of 260 m/min, a feed rate of 0.08 mm, and a depth of cut of 0.5 mm are the optimal combination of input parameters. The control of medium-voltage cascaded H-bridge (CHB) converters demands precise, high-bandwidth, low-latency, and isolated measurements. Traditional analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) can facilitate multisampling methods to meet these requirements but do not provide the high-voltage galvanic isolation that may be necessary in a system operating at medium voltage. Sigma-Delta ADCs (SD-ADCs) present a promising alternative due to their superior noise rejection capabilities and direct integration with the optical fiber interface. However, the inherent latency associated with SD-ADCs, stemming from their operating principles, poses challenges when integrating them with multisampling methods. This paper analyzes the integration of multisampling techniques with SD-ADCs for medium-voltage CHB converter control. First, the impact of SD-ADC-induced delays on the control system is elucidated from the passivity perspective. Second, the practical implementation of multisampling with SD-ADCs is discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results from a 2400 Vrms medium-voltage CHB converter are presented to validate the analysis and illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed implementation. Background: Research involves the systematic collection and analysis of data to enhance understanding of a particular phenomenon. Participation in medical research is crucial for advancing healthcare practices. However, there has been limited focus on understanding the factors that motivate medical students to engage in research. Additionally, in the era of e-learning, the easy accessibility of online resources has contributed to a widespread 'copy-paste culture' among digital-native students, which is recognized in academia as plagiarism. Existing studies suggest that a contributing factor to the increasing prevalence of plagiarism is students' limited understanding of this act. The purpose of this study was to assess medical students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Attitudes Toward Research (ATR) and Attitudes Toward Plagiarism (ATP) questionnaires. Methods: This was a multicenter study conducted among medical undergraduate and postgraduate students attending the three medical universities who were involved in research. Students' attitudes toward research and plagiarism were assessed using the ATR and ATP questionnaires. The research instruments underwent translation and cultural adaptation in accordance with internationally accepted methodology. The psychometric properties of the ATR and ATP, including validity and reliability, were assessed. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the model's fit to the data. Results: The ATR and ATP questionnaires were completed by 793 medical students who were involved in research (647 undergraduates and 146 PhD students). Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.917 and 0.822 indicated excellent and good scale reliability for the ATR and ATP questionnaires, respectively. The five-and three- factor structures of ATR and ATP have been validated with maximum likelihood confirmatory analysis, and the results demonstrated an adequate level of model fit (TLI = 0.930, CFI = 0.942 and TLI = 0.924, CFI = 0.943, respectively). Medical students showed a high degree of positive attitudes toward research and favorable scores across all three domains of attitudes toward plagiarism. In multivariate regression models, age was found to be positively associated with favorable attitudes of research usefulness, positive attitudes, relevance to life subscales and total ATR scale (p < 0.001), while PhD study level was related to research anxiety (p < 0.001) and favorable attitudes across all three ATP domains (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Medical students who were involved in research showed a high degree of favorable attitudes toward research and plagiarism. Adjusting medical school curricula to include research courses would broaden the students' interest in scientific research and maximize their impact on the full preservation of research ethics and integrity. Silver nanowires (AgNWs) have gained much attention owing to their optoelectronic and mechanical properties and are therefore potential candidates to tackle intrinsic drawbacks of currently applied transparent electrodes in various (opto)electronic devices. In order for AgNWs to be justifiably considered as viable, it is necessary to address their insufficient stability by coupling them with another constituent into a nanocomposite. For this purpose, ZnO was chosen because of its low cost, solution processability and barrier properties. In this paper, a fully solution processed AgNW/ZnO TE film was investigated in order to understand the effect of ZnO coating on the electrical stability of AgNWs, including the mechanism of degradation during their exposure to high electrical current densities. The nanocomposite transparent electrode was processed with ZnO coatings to determine their effect on its optoelectronic properties and electrical stability, where the ZnO triple coated AgNW demonstrated the best combination of optoelectronic properties and stability at the highest working voltage. Eyewitness identifications from lineups are prone to error. More indirect identification procedures, such as the reaction-time based Concealed Information Test (RT-CIT) could be a viable alternative to lineups. The RT-CIT uses response times to assess facial familiarity. Theory and initial evidence with autobiographical stimuli suggests that the accuracy of RT-CIT can be augmented when participants' reliance on familiarity-based responding increases. We tested this assumption in two pre-registered experiments with 173 participants. Participants witnessed a mock crime. In the subsequent RT-CIT protocol, participants reacted to probe faces from the mock crime video, to irrelevant faces, and to target faces that required a unique response. Targets were either unknown people or were well-known celebrities (e.g., Taylor Swift). As expected, reaction times were longer to probes than to irrelevants in all conditions, indicating a CIT effect. Contrasting our pre-registered predictions, the CIT effect was not larger in the familiar condition (Experiment 1: unfamiliar targets: d = 0.77 vs. celebrity targets: d = 0.24; Experiment 2: unfamiliar targets: d = 1.09 vs. celebrity targets: d = 0.79). This suggests that familiar targets did not increase the validity of the RT-CIT in diagnosing concealed face recognition. A potential lack of saliency of the familiar targets might explain these unexpected findings. Objectives: Occlusal splints are the main therapeutic choice in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). However, their precise working mechanism is unclear. This study aimed to compare the biomechanical effect of three commercially available splint designs (full covering splint, anterior bite splint and posterior bite splint) during biting in a sample of healthy subjects. Materials and methods: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was combined with jaw tracking to measure the minimal intraarticular distance (MID) of 20 human temporomandibular joints (TMJ) whilst simultaneously recording the electromyogram (EMG) of the masticatory muscles. The changes caused by clenching with a bite force of 100 N without splint (baseline) and on each splint were calculated. Repeated measures ANOVA was performed on the means of the MID variations and EMG amplitudes. Results: Clenching on the anterior bite splint resulted in two times less activation of the anterior temporalis muscle than baseline (p = 0.003), full covering (p = 0.011) and posterior bite splint (p = 0.011). MID was reduced by clenching in all conditions, but the reduction was almost three times larger with the anterior bite splint compared to no splint (p = 0.011). The full covering splint and the posterior bite splint did not differ significantly in EMG activation of both masseter and temporalis muscles and MID variation. Conclusions: This study showed that splint designs have a different impact on the MID and EMG activation while clenching. The anterior bite splint had a greater impact on the reduction of the muscle activation, whereas clenching on the anterior bite splint led to bigger reduction of MID and thus had the greatest influence on alteration in the condylar position. Clinical relevance: The design of the splint can affect MID and muscle activation and is a variable to consider in the treatment of patients with TMD according to their symptoms. Fabry disease (FD) is a rare genetic disorder that affects various organs and systems in the body. The disease is caused by a deficiency in the lysosomal enzyme α-galactosidase A (AGAL), which leads to the accumulation of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) within lysosomes. This accumulation can cause damage to cells and organ systems, leading to a wide range of symptoms and complications. FD is a heterogeneous disorder, with a wide range of clinical phenotypes, ranging from the classic form, which is severe and associated with early onset, to milder non-classical forms, which are often limited to one organ and manifest later in life. We describe the case of a 23-year-old FD patient who was admitted as an emergency transfer due to newly discovered severe aortic regurgitation and suspected aortic valve endocarditis with vegetations of high embolic potential. Three years ago, the patient underwent a living donor kidney transplantation—the kidney graft lost its function 1 year after transplantation, and a chronic hemodialysis program was reinstituted. Droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) stands out as a highly sensitive diagnostic technique that is gaining traction in infectious disease diagnostics due to its ability to quantitate very low numbers of viral gene copies. By partitioning the sample into thousands of droplets, ddPCR enables precise and absolute quantification without relying on a standard curve. However, current ddPCR systems often exhibit relatively low levels of integration, and the analytical process remains dependent on elaborate workflows for up-front sample preparation. Here, we introduce a fully-integrated system seamlessly combining viral lysis, RNA extraction, emulsification, reverse transcription (RT) ddPCR, and fluorescence readout in a sample-to-answer format. The system comprises a disposable microfluidic cartridge housing buffers and reagents required for the assay, and a centrifugal platform that allows for pneumatic actuation of liquids during rotation, enabling automation of the workflow. Highly monodisperse droplets (∼50 μm in diameter) are produced using centrifugal step emulsification and automatically transferred to an integrated heating module for target amplification. The platform is equipped with a miniature fluorescence imaging system enabling on-chip read-out of droplets after RT-ddPCR. We demonstrate sample-to-answer detection of SARS-CoV-2 N and E genes, along with RNase P endogenous reference, using hydrolysis probes and multiplexed amplification within single droplets for concentrations as low as 0.1 copy per μL. We also tested 14 nasopharyngeal swab specimens from patients and were able to distinguish positive and negative SARS-CoV-2 samples with 100% accuracy, surpassing results obtained by conventional real-time amplification. Background: Research into the genetic diversity of honey bee (Apis melliferaL.) populations has become increasingly significant in recent decades, primarily due to population declines attributed to human activities and climate change. As a species of great importance, breeding programs that leverage understanding of genomic diversity could offer solutions to mitigate these challenges. The objective of this study was to examine the genomic diversity and population structure of Carniolan honey bees (Apis mellifera carnica) using the Illumina SNP chip on a large honey bee sample collected from Central and South-Eastern European countries. The study also aims to offer recommendations for future breeding programs. Results: Our analysis involved Discriminant Analysis of Principal Components (DAPC), heterozygosity, admixture analysis, fixation indices (FST), Neighbour-Joining tree, gene flow and Isolation-by-distance analysis. DAPC indicated distinct separation between the Carniolan and Italian honey bee (Apis mellifera ligustica) populations, whereas the admixture analysis revealed varying levels of gene flow and genetic admixture within the Carniolan honey bee populations, demonstrating closer relationships between specific geographic regions (confirmed by Isolation-by-distance analysis). Furthermore, the research of heterozygosity, genomic inbreeding, pairwise FST values, and Neighbour-Joining tree provided insights into the patterns of genetic differentiation and similarity among the populations of Carniolan honey bee within its natural habitat. We have observed genetic homogeneity of the Carniolan honey bee population when considered in a broader genetic/geographical context. However, the Carniolan honey bee has sufficient genetic diversity in its geographical home range that needs to be carefully monitored and maintained. Conclusions: This study provides important insights into the genetic composition, differentiation, and relationships among Carniolan honey bee populations in Central and South-Eastern European countries. The findings are crucial for conservation efforts, breeding programs, and sustainable beekeeping practices. They emphasise the importance of considering genetic factors and population structure in the breeding and management of honey bees. By understanding these genetic relationships, we can develop strategies to preserve genetic diversity, improve breeding outcomes, and ensure the resilience of honey bee populations in the face of environmental changes and challenges. Bepirovirsen is a developmental antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) for treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection. No pharmacokinetic (PK) studies comparing participants with hepatic impairment (HI) and healthy participants (HPs) have been conducted with ASOs. Given the target patient population, characterization of bepirovirsen PK in HI was imperative. This phase 1, nonrandomized, open‐label study (NCT04971928) evaluated the PKs of a single 300‐mg dose of bepirovirsen in participants with HI and matched HPs, enrolled in 2 parts (Part 1: moderate HI; Part 2: mild HI). If no predefined difference in the area under the concentration‐time curve from time 0 (predose) to infinite time (AUC0‐∞) and maximum observed concentration (Cmax; geometric mean ratio [GMR] 0.5‐1.5) was identified in Part 1, findings were applied to mild HI, eliminating Part 2. Participants were monitored for 50 days post‐treatment and noncompartmental analysis estimated PK parameters. Twenty‐four participants (moderate HI, n = 12; HP, n = 12) received bepirovirsen and completed Part 1. AUC0‐∞ and Cmax were lower in participants with moderate HI (GMR 0.69 and 0.67, respectively) than in HPs, while apparent clearance (CL/F) and apparent terminal phase volume of distribution (Vz/F) were higher (GMR 1.44 and 1.64, respectively), but fell within the predefined thresholds of difference for this study. A promising solution to reduce energy usage and mitigate the wear of drilling and comminution tools during mining operations involves inducing vibrations within the piezoelectric phases dispersed in the structure of rocks using alternating current (AC). This paper presents experimental evidence of AC-induced weakening of Kuru granite, manifested as improvements in rock drillability and reductions of strength. Sievers' J-miniature drill tests were used to assess surface drillability. The impact of AC treatment on the quasi-static strength of granite was assessed via three-point bending and indirect tension Brazilian disk tests. The influence of AC treatment on the dynamic tensile strength of the rock was determined using split Hopkinson bar tests, with the fragmentation process captured using in situ ultra-fast synchrotron X-ray phase contrast imaging. The quasi-static tests revealed no reduction in rock strength after the AC treatment. In contrast, reductions of 25% in hardness and 18% in dynamic tensile strength were observed. Fragmentation patterns differed between treated and non-treated rocks, with treated specimens exhibiting reduced macrocrack formation during loading. Highlights: Diverse experiments confirm that alternating current excitations weaken Granite. Sievers' J-tests evidenced enhanced drillability of Granite after the alternating current treatment. Exposure to alternating currents decreased the tensile strength of Granite in dynamic Brazilian disc experiments. Treated Brazilian disc specimens showed lower energy absorption during dynamic loading. Many studies have examined the effects of meditation practice focused on the normal breath on vagal tone with mixed results. Heart Rhythm Meditation (HRM) is a unique meditation form that engages in the deep slow full breath, and puts the focus of attention on the heart. This form of breathing likely stimulates the vagus nerve with greater intensity. The purpose of this study was (a) to examine how the practice of HRM affects vagal activity as measured by heart rate variability (HRV); and (b) to examine how it affects participants' well-being. 74 participants signed consent agreeing to: (a) take a six-week course to learn the practice of HRM; (b) engage in a daily practice for 10 weeks; (c) have their heart rate variability read through ECG technology and to take two validated well-being instruments at the beginning and end of the 10 weeks; and (d) participate in a focus group interview examining their perceptions of how the practice affected their well-being. 48 participants completed the study. Quantitative findings show the effect of the practice of HRM approached significance for multiple measures of HRV and vagal tone. An increase in well-being scores for those who did the meditation more than 10-minutes per day did meet statistical significance. Qualitative data indicate: (a) the positive effects of HRM on stress and well-being; (b) the development of a more expanded sense of self; and (c) an increased awareness of the interconnection of the body-heart-emotions and HRM's role in emotion regulation. The functioning of modern urban environments relies heavily on the public transport system. Given spatial, economic, and sustainability criteria, public transport in larger urban areas is unrivaled. The system's role depends on the quality of service it offers. Achieving the desired service quality requires a design that meets transport demands. This paper uses a data-driven approach to address headway deviations in public transport lines and explores ways to improve regularity during the design phase. Headway is a critical dynamic element for transport organization and passenger quality. Deviations between planned and actual headways represent disturbances. On lines with headways under 15 min, passengers typically do not consult schedules, making punctuality less crucial. Reduced headway regularity affects the average travel time, travel time uncertainty, and passenger comfort. Ideally, the public transport system operates with regular headways. However, disturbances can spread and affect subsequent departures, leading to vehicle bunching. While previous research focused on single primary disturbances, this study, with the help of AI (reinforcement learning), examines multiple primary disturbances in the cities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš. The goal is to model the cumulative impact of these disturbances on vehicle movement. By ranking parameter influences and using the automatic optimization of static line elements, this research aims to improve headway regularity and increase system resilience to disturbances. The results of this research could also be useful in developing adaptive public transport management systems that leverage AI and IoT technologies to continuously optimize headway regularity in response to real-time data, ultimately enhancing service quality and passenger satisfaction. Apical periodontitis (AP) represents chronic inflammatory reaction of periradicular tissues of teeth with necrotic pulp. Although AP has been considered as a multifactorial disease, different microorganisms and their virulence factors from infected root canals are considered to be the primary cause of periradicular inflammatory process. The interplay between microbes and host leads to an inflammatory cascade of events that includes activation of innate and adaptive components of immunity. Activation of different immune cells in AP is intermediated by different molecules known as mediators of inflammation. These molecules establish various network interrelationships in the inflamed periapical area and induce alveolar bone resorption. This narrative review aimed to explore and present the current knowledge of selected inflammatory mediators, including cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases, bone resorption regulators and components of oxidative stress involved in the alveolar bone resorption in AP. Skeletal alterations and their complications can significantly impact the quality of life and overall prognosis of patients living with HIV (PLWHIV). Considering skeletal alterations are often asymptomatic and unapparent during routine clinical evaluation, these conditions are frequently overlooked in the clinical management of PLWHIV. However, since the use of combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) has increased life expectancy in PLWHIV effectively, osteopenia, osteoporosis, and bone fragility are now considered to have a major health impact, with a substantial increase in healthcare costs. This narrative literature review aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the contemporary literature related to bone changes in PLWHIV, focusing on the importance of taking a multi-scale approach in the assessment of bone hierarchical organization. Even though a low bone mineral density is frequently reported in PLWHIV, numerous ambiguities still remain to be solved. Recent data suggest that assessment of other bone properties (on various levels of the bone structure) could contribute to our understanding of bone fragility determinants in these individuals. Special attention is needed for women living with HIV/AIDS since a postmenopausal status was described as an important factor that contributes to skeletal alterations in this population. Further research on complex etiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying bone alterations in PLWHIV may lead to the development of new therapeutic approaches specifically designed to reduce the health burden associated with skeletal disorders in this population. A major challenge in the clinical management of PLWHIV lies in the adverse skeletal effects of some frequently prescribed cART regimens (e.g., regimens containing tenofovir disoproxil fumarate), which may require a switch to other pharmacological approaches for maintained HIV infection (e.g., regimens containing tenofovir alafenamide). Taken together, the findings are indicative that the HIV/AIDS status should be taken into consideration when designing new guidelines and strategies for individualized prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of increased bone fragility. The emergency of switching to an online learning model due to the COVID pandemic impacted the educational process in of schools world wide. We conducted an anonymous survey at the elite high schools in Serbia whose students won 45 medals at international Olympiads in mathematics, physics, and computer sciences in the last 4-year period (2019–2022). The impact of switching from in-person to online learning on the achievement of the gifted students was analyzed. The results of the research revealed a downward trend in the final grades and achievements in international Olympiads, which persists even after returning to the face-to-face educational model. This trend is confirmed by calculation of the Pearson correlation coefficient (−0.62) between school years and achievements in international mathematical Olympiads, international physics Olympiads, and international Olympiads in informatics. Gifted students' satisfaction with online learning during the COVID pandemic was also analyzed using content analysis of open-ended questions. The surveyed gifted students showed a high level of self-criticism and maturity by expressing their opinion about online learning. In the group of gifted students, there is a higher level of agreement about harmful consequences of online learning on the level of their education and work habits than in other research conducted on similar topics. Due to their homogeneity and excellent ratio between load capacity and weight, thinwalled aluminum structures are used as structural parts in the aerospace, automotive and military industries. The manufacture of these thin-walled structures is mainly done by removing a large amount of material from full raw pieces, sometimes up to 95% of their initial mass. Because of a large volume of material removing, it is necessary to achieve high productivity, which is limited by the lack of rigidity of the thin walls of these structures. As a result, errors occur, while reducing accuracy and machining quality. The main subject and objective of this paper is related to the optimization of high-speed machining parameters of linear thin-walled structures made of aluminum alloy Al7075 from the aspect of surface quality of processed superficial as a goal function. Background: A 4‐item score based on ≥2 features out of orthostatic hypotension, overactive bladder, urinary retention and postural instability was previously shown to early distinguish the Parkinson‐variant of multiple system atrophy (MSA‐P) from Parkinson's disease (PD) with 78% sensitivity and 86% specificity. Objectives: To replicate and improve the 4‐item MSA‐P score. Methods: We retrospectively studied 161 patients with early parkinsonism [ie, ≤2 years disease duration or no postural instability, aged 64 (57; 68) years, 44% females] and a diagnosis of clinically established MSA‐P (n = 38) or PD (n = 123) after ≥24 months follow‐up. Results: The 4‐item MSA‐P score had a 92% sensitivity and 78% specificity for a final MSA‐P diagnosis. By including dopaminergic responsiveness and postural deformities into a 6‐item score (range: 0–6), reaching ≥3 points at early disease identified MSA‐P patients with 89% sensitivity and 98% specificity. Knowledge seems to mitigate the consequences of dementia and new educational strategies are required. This study aimed to qualitatively explore the reflexive views and experiences of virtual Communities of Practice (vCoP) among informal and formal caregivers of people with dementia and explore vCoP as a tool for learning and knowledge development. Data were collected in a sequence of virtual workshops and analyzed and synthesized using thematic analysis. For the informal caregivers, one main theme emerged: Learning and support, comprising three subthemes: Strategies for learning; Creating emotional support; and in need of professional support. Among formal caregivers, one main theme emerged: Professional development, comprising two subthemes: Sharing and gaining knowledge and Knowledge as a professional tool. vCoP and collaborative learning using an educational platform seem to support learning and professional development among informal and formal caregivers, respectively. As a collaborative, virtual activities seem to provide practical and emotional support and promote professional development; vCoP seem to have the potential to promote the resilience and sustainability of care. Further research is necessary to gain an understanding of the effects of Communities of Practice (CoP) and vCoP and their successful implementation in care practices as well as the potential of using CoP in continuing professional development, CPD. Recently, due to its character, more and more attention has been paid to the application of the circular economy principle at the level of the national economy and in all sectors. Based on this, in this study, the performances of the circular economy of the countries of the European Union and Serbia are comparatively analyzed based on the AHP-EDAS method. The research in this study using the given methodology showed that the top five countries in terms of circular economy performance are in order: Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Estonia, and Austria. The worst performances of the circular economy are in Romania. The positioning of the leading countries of the European Union is as follows: Germany is in sixth place, France is in eleventh place and Italy is in ninth place. The positioning is satisfactory. Serbia is positioned in the seventeenth place. Compared to the leading countries of the European Union, it is positioned worse. It is better positioned than Croatia (twenty-third place). Compared to Slovenia (twelfth place), it is positioned worse. To improve the performance of the circular economy, it is necessary, in principle, to manage dependence on the import of materials, municipal waste, waste, renewable energy, and other relevant factors as efficiently as possible. In this sense, it is necessary to define a strategy and an action plan for achieving the expected value of the key parameters of the circular economy. Background and Objectives: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is sometimes associated with significant perioperative bleeding. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in reducing perioperative blood loss in patients undergoing primary TKA. The secondary objectives were to assess the efficacy of TXA in reducing the need for blood transfusion in these patients and to determine its effect on verticalization and ambulation after TKA. Materials and Methods: This study included 96 patients who were randomly assigned to two groups, each containing 48 patients. The study group received intravenous TXA at two time points: immediately after the induction with doses of 15 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg 15 min before the release of the pneumatic tourniquet. The control group received an equivalent volume of 0.9% saline solution via the same route. Results: TXA markedly reduced (Z = −6.512, p < 0.001) the total perioperative blood loss from 892.56 ± 324.46 mL, median 800 mL, interquartile range (IQR) 530 mL in the control group, to 411.96 ± 172.74 mL, median 375 mL, IQR 200 mL, in the TXA group. In the TXA group, only 5 (10.4%) patients received a transfusion, while in the control group, 22 (45.83%) received it (χ2 = 15.536, p = 0.001). Patients in the study group stood (χ2 = 21.162, p < 0.001) and ambulated earlier postoperatively, compared to the control group (χ2 = 26.274, p < 0.001). Patients who received TXA had a better overall postoperative functional recovery. There was a statistically significant difference in all the above results. Conclusions: TXA is an effective drug for reducing the incidence of perioperative bleeding, decreasing transfusion rates, and indirectly improving postoperative functional recovery in patients undergoing primary TKA. INTRODUCTION: The "A/T/N" (amyloid/tau/neurodegeneration) framework provides a biological basis for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis and can encompass additional changes such as inflammation ("I"). A spectrum of T/N/I imaging and plasma biomarkers was acquired in a phase 2 clinical trial of rasagiline in mild to moderate AD patients. We evaluated these to understand biomarker distributions and relationships within this population. METHODS: Plasma biomarkers of pTau‐181, neurofilament light chain (NfL), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), other inflammation‐related proteins, imaging measures including fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET), flortaucipir PET, and volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and cognitive endpoints were analyzed to assess characteristics and relationships for the overall population (N = 47 at baseline and N = 21 for longitudinal cognitive comparisons) and within age‐decade subgroups (57‐69, 70‐79, 80‐90 years). RESULTS: Data demonstrate wide clinical and biomarker heterogeneity in this population influenced by age and sex. Plasma pTau‐181 and GFAP correlate with tau PET, most strongly in left inferior temporal cortex (p = 0.0002, p = 0.0006, respectively). In regions beyond temporal cortex, tau PET uptake decreased with age for the same pTau‐181 or GFAP concentrations. FDG PET and brain volumes correlate with tau PET in numerous regions (such as inferior temporal: p = 0.0007, p = 0.00001, respectively). NfL, GFAP, and all imaging modalities correlate with baseline MMSE; subsequent MMSE decline is predicted by baseline parahippocampal and lateral temporal tau PET (p = 0.0007) and volume (p = 0.0006). Lateral temporal FDG PET (p = 0.006) and volume (p = 0.0001) are most strongly associated with subsequent ADAS‐cog decline. NfL correlates with FDG PET and baseline MMSE but not tau PET. Inflammation biomarkers are intercorrelated but correlated with other biomarkers in only the youngest group. DISCUSSION: Associations between plasma biomarkers, imaging biomarkers, and cognitive status observed in this study provide insight into relationships among biological processes in mild to moderate AD. Findings show the potential to characterize AD patients regarding likely tau pathology, neurodegeneration, prospective clinical decline, and the importance of covariates such as age. Background and Objectives: The aim of the present work was to compare the characteristics of delta and omicron variants of COVID-19 infection in pregnant women, the association of infection with comorbidity, clinical manifestation of the disease, type of delivery, and pregnancy outcome. Material and Methods: The study was designed as an observational, retrospective study of a single center. The analysis included the cohort of women who had SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy and/or childbirth in the period from 1 March 2020 to 30 June 2023. Results: Out of a total of 675 pregnant women with SARS-CoV-2 infection, 130 gave birth with the delta and 253 with the omicron variant. In our retrospective analysis, pregnant women with both SARS-CoV-2 variants had a mild clinical history in most cases. In the omicron period, a significantly lower incidence of pregnancy loss (p < 0.01) and premature birth (p = 0.62) admission of mothers and newborns to the intensive care unit (p < 0.05) was recorded. Conclusions: In our retrospective analysis, pregnant women with COVID-19 infection generally exhibited a milder clinical manifestation with both variants (delta and omicron) of the viral infection. During the delta-dominant period, ten percent of affected pregnant women experienced a severe clinical history. However, during the omicron-dominant period infection, a significantly lower incidence of complications, pregnancy loss, preterm delivery, and admission of mothers and neonates to the intensive care unit was recorded. Fear-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and anxiety disorders are pervasive psychiatric conditions marked by persistent fear, stemming from its dysregulated acquisition and extinction. The primary treatment for these disorders, exposure therapy (ET), relies heavily on fear extinction (FE) principles. Adolescence, a vulnerable period for developing psychiatric disorders, is characterized by neurobiological changes in the fear circuitry, leading to impaired FE and increased susceptibility to relapse following ET. Ketamine, known for relieving anxiety and reducing PTSD symptoms, influences fear-related learning processes and synaptic plasticity across the fear circuitry. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of ketamine (10 mg/kg) on FE in adolescent male C57 BL/6 mice at the behavioral and molecular levels. We analyzed the protein and gene expression of synaptic plasticity markers in the hippocampus (HPC) and prefrontal cortex (PFC) and sought to identify neural correlates associated with ketamine's effects on adolescent extinction learning. Ketamine ameliorated FE in the adolescent males, likely affecting the consolidation and/or recall of extinction memory. Ketamine also increased the Akt and mTOR activity and the GluA1 and GluN2A levels in the HPC and upregulated BDNF exon IV mRNA expression in the HPC and PFC of the fear-extinguished mice. Furthermore, ketamine increased the c-Fos expression in specific brain regions, including the ventral HPC (vHPC) and the left infralimbic ventromedial PFC (IL vmPFC). Providing a comprehensive exploration of ketamine's mechanisms in adolescent FE, our study suggests that ketamine's effects on FE in adolescent males are associated with the activation of hippocampal Akt-mTOR-GluA1 signaling, with the vHPC and the left IL vmPFC as the proposed neural correlates. Compared to the general population, patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are less likely to be vaccinated, putting them at an increased risk of vaccine-preventable illnesses. This risk is further compounded by the immunosuppressive therapies commonly used in IBD management. Therefore, developing new treatments for IBD that maintain immune function is crucial, as successful management can lead to better vaccination outcomes and overall health for these patients. Here, we investigate the potential of recombinant banana lectin (rBanLec) as a supporting therapeutic measure to improve IBD control and possibly increase vaccination rates among IBD patients. By examining the therapeutic efficacy of rBanLec in a murine model of experimental colitis, we aim to lay the foundation for its application in improving vaccination outcomes. After inducing experimental colitis in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid, we treated animals orally with varying doses of rBanLec 0.1–10 µg/mL (0.01—1 µg/dose) during the course of the disease. We assessed the severity of colitis and rBanLec's modulation of the immune response compared to control groups. rBanLec administration resulted in an inverse dose–response reduction in colitis severity (less pronounced weight loss, less shortening of the colon) and an improved recovery profile, highlighting its therapeutic potential. Notably, rBanLec-treated mice exhibited significant modulation of the immune response, favoring anti-inflammatory pathways (primarily reduction in a local [TNFα]/[IL-10]) crucial for effective vaccination. Our findings suggest that rBanLec could mitigate the adverse effects of immunosuppressive therapy on vaccine responsiveness in IBD patients. By improving the underlying immune response, rBanLec may increase the efficacy of vaccinations, offering a dual benefit of disease management and prevention of vaccine-preventable illnesses. Background: The anesthetic management of parturients with ascending aortic aneurysm for cesarean section can be particularly challenging, primarily because of increased risk for aortic dissection or aneurysm rupture. Case presentation: We present some aspects of the anesthetic management of two parturients with ascending aortic aneurysm for cesarean sections; amongst, the use of remifentanil with its effects on patient and newborn. We emphasize the importance of a cardio-obstetric team in the context of preoperative planning of such patients. Also, we reviewed some literature on the anesthetic management with its effect on peri-operative hemodynamic stability. The occurrence of the pseudoaneurysm of visceral arteries in the field of chronic pancreatitis is a very rare complication that represents a life-threatening condition. The higher frequency of this complication is in the necrotic form of pancreatic inflammation, especially in patients with formed peripancreatic necrotic collections. The degradation of the arterial wall leads to bleeding and transforms these necrotic collections into a pseudoaneurysm. Urgent endovascular angioembolization is the first choice in the therapeutic approach as a valid minimally invasive solution with very satisfactory immediate and long-term outcomes. Background: Socioeconomic status as measured by education, income, or occupation, has been associated with fibromyalgia but the underlying mechanism and the role of lifestyle factors are unclear. Thus, we examine the role of modifiable lifestyle factors (body mass index, physical activity, alcohol consumption and smoking) in the association between education and self-reported fibromyalgia. Methods: We used data from 74,157 participants in the population-based prospective Norwegian Women and Cancer (NOWAC) study. Socioeconomic position, operationalized as years of educational attainment, and lifestyle factors were assessed via self-reported questionnaires. Multiple mediation analysis was used to decompose total effects into direct and indirect effects. Estimates were reported as hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: The cumulative incidence of fibromyalgia was 3.2% after a median follow up time of 13 years. Fibromyalgia was inversely associated with years of educational attainment for ≤ 9 years (HR = 2.56; 95% CI 2.32–2.91) and for 10–12 years (HR = 1.84; 95% CI 1.72–2.02), compared with ≥ 13 years of education. Overall, all lifestyle factors together jointly mediated 17.3% (95% CI 14.3–21.6) and 14.1% (95% CI 11.3–18.9) of the total effect for ≤ 9 years and 10–12 years of education, respectively. Smoking and alcohol consumption contributed the most to the proportion mediated, for ≤ 9 years (5.0% and 7.0%) and 10–12 years (5.6% and 4.5%) of education. Researching the dynamics of the performance positioning of trade is a very challenging, continuously current, significant, and complex issue, especially in the conditions of the application of multi-criteria decision-making methods. Based on that, this paper investigates the dynamics of the performance positioning of trade in Serbia for the period 2017 - 2022 using the LAPCOW and EDAS methods. The results of this research show the following: Serbian trade, according to the obtained results of the research on the dynamics of performance positioning using the LOPCOW-EDAS method, was the best in 2022. The following are 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. Overall, the performance of trade in Serbia continuously improved. The factors that influenced the improvement of the dynamics of the performance positioning of trade in Serbia are geopolitical situation, economy, inflation, interest rate, employment, standard of living of the population, trade policy and strategy, foreign direct investments, new business models (multichannel sales - store and electronic, private label, sale of organic products, etc.), concept of sustainable development, energy crisis, management of human resources, asset, capital, sales and profit, digitisation of the entire business, and others. Background and Objectives: Lung cancer is the second most common form of cancer in the world for both men and women as well as the most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The aim of this study is to summarize the radiological characteristics between primary lung adenocarcinoma subtypes and to correlate them with FDG uptake on PET-CT. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 102 patients with pathohistologically confirmed lung adenocarcinoma. A PET-CT examination was performed on some of the patients and the values of SUVmax were also correlated with the histological and morphological characteristics of the masses in the lungs. Results: The results of this analysis showed that the mean size of AIS-MIA (adenocarcinoma in situ and minimally invasive adenocarcinoma) cancer was significantly lower than for all other cancer types, while the mean size of the acinar cancer was smaller than in the solid type of cancer. Metastases were significantly more frequent in solid adenocarcinoma than in acinar, lepidic, and AIS-MIA cancer subtypes. The maximum standardized FDG uptake was significantly lower in AIS-MIA than in all other cancer types and in the acinar predominant subtype compared to solid cancer. Papillary predominant adenocarcinoma had higher odds of developing contralateral lymph node involvement compared to other types. Solid adenocarcinoma was associated with higher odds of having metastases and with higher SUVmax. AIS-MIA was associated with lower odds of one unit increase in tumor size and ipsilateral lymph node involvement. Conclusions: The correlation between histopathological and radiological findings is crucial for accurate diagnosis and staging. The mental health of healthcare workers, especially the nursing staff in intensive care units, is crucial for the optimal functioning of healthcare systems during medical emergencies. This study implements a cross-sectional design to investigate the associations between nurses' personal characteristics, workplace challenges, and job satisfaction with the increased perception of tension, stress, and pressure at the workplace (TSPW) before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, we surveyed 4210 nurses from 19 intensive healthcare facilities in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, and, at that time, collected data about their perceived TSPW before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study identified six predictors of the increase in TSPW, as perceived by nurses: their work in COVID-19 infectious zones (OR = 1.446), exhaustion due to work under protective equipment (OR = 1.413), uncertainty and fear of infection (OR = 1.481), a high degree of superiors' appreciation and respect (OR = 1.147), a high degree of patients' attitudes (OR = 1.111), and a low degree of work autonomy (OR = 0.889). The study's findings suggest that a solution to this issue is necessary to ensure that nurses are safe and able to alleviate the physical and mental strain that comes with prolonged use of protective equipment. Nurses on the frontline of the pandemic require better health protection, better conditions, and respect for their role. Primary mental healthcare nurses are an essential workforce that provide necessary inpatient psychiatric treatment. Continuity of care has become a significant aspect of the provision of mental health services. However, caring for South African healthcare users comes with challenges, including difficulties accompanying the provision of care for acutely ill patients with complex mental health problems. Therefore, this study explored the perceptions and experiences of primary mental healthcare nurses concerning the continuity of care required in post-inpatient psychiatric treatment for mental health users from low-income communities in the Western Cape. Through undertaking a study using a qualitative exploratory design and purposive sampling technique, and in which nine primary mental healthcare nurses from two psychiatric hospitals in the Western Cape were interviewed, the researchers were able to obtain a deeper understanding of the participants' experiences. Four themes were identified during the reflexive thematic analysis namely: the roles and responsibilities of primary mental healthcare nurses, the lack of support within the current continuity-of-care system, barriers to continuity of care for women patients, and suggested improvements for quality of mental healthcare. It was evident that both women patients and primary mental healthcare nurses experienced various forms of marginalisation, discrimination, and gendered oppression. This intersectionality accentuates systemic issues within the current public healthcare system and highlights the stigmatisation of mental illness, especially among women. Overall, primary mental healthcare nurses have a plethora of roles and responsibilities within the primary healthcare sector, which hinder their ability to provide mental health services to women patients. Their reports highlight the needs of a specific patient population that first need to translate into changes that will assist in improving their roles as primary mental healthcare nurses. Porosity in directed energy deposition (DED) deteriorates mechanical performances of components, limiting safety-critical applications. However, how pores arise and evolve in DED remains unclear. Here, we reveal pore evolution mechanisms during DED using in situ X-ray imaging and multi-physics modelling. We quantify five mechanisms contributing to pore formation, migration, pushing, growth, removal and entrapment: (i) bubbles from gas atomised powder enter the melt pool, and then migrate circularly or laterally; (ii) small bubbles can escape from the pool surface, or coalesce into larger bubbles, or be entrapped by solidification fronts; (iii) larger coalesced bubbles can remain in the pool for long periods, pushed by the solid/liquid interface; (iv) Marangoni surface shear flow overcomes buoyancy, keeping larger bubbles from popping out; and (v) once large bubbles reach critical sizes they escape from the pool surface or are trapped in DED tracks. These mechanisms can guide the development of pore minimisation strategies. Porosity is a key issue in additive manufacturing (AM). We describe a microfluidic system for conducting thermal lysis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification, hybridization, and colorimetric detection of foodborne viral organisms in a sample-to-answer format. The on-chip protocol entails 24 steps which are conducted by a centrifugal platform that allows for actuating liquids pneumatically during rotation and so facilitates automation of the workflow. The microfluidic cartridge is fabricated from transparent thermoplastic polymers and accommodates assay components along with an embedded micropillar array for detection and read-out. A panel of oligonucleotide primers and probes has been developed to perform PCR and hybridization assays that allows for identification of five different viruses, including pathogens such as norovirus and hepatitis A virus (HAV) in a multiplexed format using digoxigenin-labelled amplicons and immunoenzymatic conversion of a chromogenic substrate. Using endpoint detection, we demonstrate that the system can accurately and repetitively (n = 3) discriminate positive and negative signals for HAV at 350 genome copies per μL. As part of the characterization and optimization process, we show that the implementation of multiple (e.g., seven) micropillar arrays in a narrow fluidic pathway can lead to variation (up to 50% or more) in the distribution of colorimetric signal deriving from the assay. Numerical modeling of flow behaviour was used to substantiate these findings. The technology—by virtue of automation—can provide a pathway toward rapid detection of viral pathogens, shortening response time in food safety surveillance, compliance, and enforcement as well as outbreak investigations. At z ≲ 1, shock heating caused by large-scale velocity flows and possibly violent feedback from galaxy formation, converts a significant fraction of the cool gas (T ∼ 104 K) in the intergalactic medium (IGM) into warm–hot phase (WHIM) with T > 105 K, resulting in a significant deviation from the previously tight power-law IGM temperature–density relationship, |$T=T_0 (\rho / {\bar{\rho }})^{\gamma -1}$|⁠. This study explores the impact of the WHIM on measurements of the low- z IGM thermal state, [ T 0, γ], based on the b – |$N_{{\rm H\,{\small I}}} $| distribution of the Ly α forest. Exploiting a machine learning-enabled simulation-based inference method trained on Nyx hydrodynamical simulations, we demonstrate that [ T 0, γ] can still be reliably measured from the b– |$N_{{\rm H\,{\small I}}} $| distribution at z  = 0.1, notwithstanding the substantial WHIM in the IGM. To investigate the effects of different feedback, we apply this inference methodology to mock spectra derived from the IllustrisTNG and Illustris simulations at z  = 0.1. The results suggest that the underlying [ T 0, γ] of both simulations can be recovered with biases as low as |Δlog (T 0/K)| ≲ 0.05 dex, |Δγ| ≲ 0.1, smaller than the precision of a typical measurement. Given the large differences in the volume-weighted WHIM fractions between the three simulations (Illustris 38 per cent, IllustrisTNG 10 per cent, and Nyx 4 per cent), we conclude that the b – |$N_{{\rm H\,{\small I}}} $| distribution is not sensitive to the WHIM under realistic conditions. Finally, we investigate the physical properties of the detectable Ly α absorbers, and discover that although their T and Δ distributions remain mostly unaffected by feedback, they are correlated with the photoionization rate used in the simulation. The non-fluent/agrammatic variant of primary progressive aphasia (nfvPPA) is a neurodegenerative syndrome primarily defined by the presence of apraxia of speech (AoS) and/or expressive agrammatism. In addition, many patients exhibit dysarthria and/or receptive agrammatism. This leads to substantial phenotypic variation within the speech-language domain across individuals and time, in terms of both the specific combination of symptoms as well as their severity. How to resolve such phenotypic heterogeneity in nfvPPA is a matter of debate. 'Splitting' views propose separate clinical entities: 'primary progressive apraxia of speech' when AoS occurs in the absence of expressive agrammatism, 'progressive agrammatic aphasia' (PAA) in the opposite case, and 'AOS + PAA' when mixed motor speech and language symptoms are clearly present. While therapeutic interventions typically vary depending on the predominant symptom (e.g. AoS versus expressive agrammatism), the existence of behavioural, anatomical and pathological overlap across these phenotypes argues against drawing such clear-cut boundaries. In the current study, we contribute to this debate by mapping behaviour to brain in a large, prospective cohort of well characterized patients with nfvPPA (n = 104). We sought to advance scientific understanding of nfvPPA and the neural basis of speech-language by uncovering where in the brain the degree of MRI-based atrophy is associated with inter-patient variability in the presence and severity of AoS, dysarthria, expressive agrammatism or receptive agrammatism. Our cross-sectional examination of brain-behaviour relationships revealed three main observations. First, we found that the neural correlates of AoS and expressive agrammatism in nfvPPA lie side by side in the left posterior inferior frontal lobe, explaining their behavioural dissociation/association in previous reports. Second, we identified a 'left-right' and 'ventral-dorsal' neuroanatomical distinction between AoS versus dysarthria, highlighting (i) that dysarthria, but not AoS, is significantly influenced by tissue loss in right-hemisphere motor-speech regions; and (ii) that, within the left hemisphere, dysarthria and AoS map onto dorsally versus ventrally located motor-speech regions, respectively. Third, we confirmed that, within the large-scale grammar network, left frontal tissue loss is preferentially involved in expressive agrammatism and left temporal tissue loss in receptive agrammatism. Our findings thus contribute to define the function and location of the epicentres within the large-scale neural networks vulnerable to neurodegenerative changes in nfvPPA. We propose that nfvPPA be redefined as an umbrella term subsuming a spectrum of speech and/or language phenotypes that are closely linked by the underlying neuroanatomy and neuropathology.
