The Europeana digital library features cultural heritage collections from over 3,000 European institutions described in 37 languages. However, most textual metadata describe the records in a single language, the data providers' language. Improving Europeana's multilingual accessibility presents challenges due to the unique characteristics of cultural heritage metadata, often expressed in short phrases and using in-domain terminology. This work presents the EuropeanaTranslate project's approach and results, aimed at translating Europeana metadata records from 23 EU languages into English. Machine Translation engines were trained on a cleaned selection of bilingual and synthetic data from Europeana, including multilingual vocabularies and relevant cultural heritage repositories. Automatic translations were evaluated through standard metrics and human assessments by linguists and domain cultural heritage experts. The results showed significant improvements when compared to the generic engines used before the in-domain training as well as the eTranslation service for most languages. The EuropeanaTranslate engines have translated over 29 million metadata records on Europeana.eu. Objectives: This study sought to report the reliability (intrasession) values of initial maximum push-rim propulsion (IMPRP) and sprint performance in elite wheelchair basketball (WB) players and to assess the involvement of strength in sprint capacity. Methods: Fifteen Spanish international WB male players participated in this study. The maximum single wheelchair push from a stationary position (IMPRP) and the sprint performance (ie, 3, 5, and 12 m) of WB players were measured in this study. Results: IMPRP mechanical outputs V, Vmax, P, Rel. P, F, and Rel. F variables presented high reliability values (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC] ≥.92; coefficient of variation [CV] ≤ 8.04 ± 7.37; standard error of measurement [SEM] ≤ 29.92), but the maximum strength variables Pmax, Rel. Pmax, Fmax, and Rel. Fmax (ICC ≥.63; CV ≤ 13.19 ± 16.63; SEM ≤ 203.76) showed lower ICC values and by contrast higher CV and SEM values. The most substantial correlations were identified between maximum IMPRP values (ie, V, Vmax, P, Rel. P, F, and Rel. F) and sprint performance in 3 m (r ± confidence limits ≥ −0.74 ± 0.22, very large; R2 ≥.55), 5 m (r ± confidence limits ≥ −0.72 ± 0.24, very large; R2 ≥.51), and 12 m (r ± confidence limits ≥ −0.67 ± 0.27, large; R2 ≥.44). Conclusions: The IMPRP test and sprint tests (3, 5, and 12 m) are practical and reliable for measuring strength and speed in WB players. In addition, there were large to very large associations among strength variables (ie, P, Rel. P, F, and Rel. F) and all sprint variables. The significance of interfacial thermal resistance in the thermal conductivity of nanofluids is not well understood, in part because of the absence of measurements of this quantity. Here, we study the interfacial thermal resistance for metal–oil nanofluids of interest as heat transfer fluids for concentrating solar power, using density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulations. Insights on the role of chemical interactions in determining the interfacial thermal resistance are revealed. The results presented here showcase a general picture in which the stronger the chemical interactions between species at the interface, the lower the associated interfacial thermal resistance. The implications toward nanofluid design are discussed. We show that, for this important family of metal–oil nanofluids, the interfacial thermal resistance values are low enough so that it is possible to afford a reduction in particle size, minimizing stability and rheological issues while still offering enhancement in the effective thermal conductivity with respect to the base fluid. Introduction: The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in influencing host health, through the production of metabolites and other key signalling molecules. While the impact of specific metabolites or taxa on host cells is well-documented, the broader impact of a disrupted microbiota on immune homeostasis is less understood, which is particularly important in the context of the increasing overuse of antibiotics. Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice were gavaged twice daily for four weeks with Vancomycin, Polymyxin B, or PBS (control). Caecal microbiota composition was assessed via 16S rRNA sequencing and caecal metabolites were quantified with NMR spectroscopy. Immune profiles of spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs) were assessed by flow cytometry, and splenocytes assessed for ex vivo cytokine production. A generalised additive model approach was used to examine the relationship between global antibiotic consumption and IBD incidence. Results: Antibiotics significantly altered gut microbiota composition, reducing alpha-diversity. Acetate and butyrate were significantly reduced in antibiotic groups, while propionate and succinate increased in Vancomycin and PmB-treated mice, respectively. The MLNs and spleen showed changes only to DC numbers. Splenocytes from antibiotic-treated mice stimulated ex vivo exhibited increased production of TNF. Epidemiological analysis revealed a positive correlation between global antibiotic consumption and IBD incidence. Discussion: Our findings demonstrate that antibiotic-mediated dysbiosis results in significantly altered short-chain fatty acid levels but immune homeostasis in spleen and MLNs at steady state is mostly preserved. Non-specific activation of splenocytes ex vivo, however, revealed mice with perturbed microbiota had significantly elevated production of TNF. Thus, this highlights antibiotic-mediated disruption of the gut microbiota may program the host towards dysregulated immune responses, predisposing to the development of TNF-associated autoimmune or chronic inflammatory disease. Background: The treatment of metastatic breast cancer (mBC) focuses on prolonging patient survival, providing adequate symptom management, and maintaining quality of life (QoL). This includes supportive therapy to prevent or treat potential side effects and handle comorbidities. The combination of mBC therapy, supportive therapy, and treatment for comorbidities increases the risk for polypharmacy, potential drug-drug interactions (pDDI), potentially inappropriate medication (PIM), and potentially missing drugs (pMD). Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess medication patterns of mBC patients in routine care within a cohort study from South Germany. Methods: Between July 2022 and February 2024 individuals with advanced or mBC, aged ≥ 18 years, living in Bavaria, and who gave written informed consent, were included in the BRE-BY-MED "Breast Cancer Care in Bavaria for Patients with Metastatic Disease" cohort study (DRKS00026601). BRE-BY-MED was carried out at the University Hospital Würzburg with the primary aim of estimating the prevalence of guideline-concordant treatment. For the present analysis cross-sectional data from the baseline assessment was used. Medication was extracted from routine medical records. PIM, pDDI and pMD were assessed using established criteria. Polypharmacy was defined as ≥ 5 concomitantly prescribed drugs. Results: Ninety-three patients with a median age of 57 years (IQR = 48–64 years), were consecutively enrolled in the BRE-BY-MED study. One patient was male. At baseline, a total of 668 drugs were documented for all patients, including 131 unique substances, of which 44% were mBC therapy, 18% supportive therapy and 38% treatment for comorbidities or supplements. Patients took a median of 6 (IQR = 5–9) concomitant drugs. Polypharmacy (i.e. ≥ 5 concomitant drugs) was observed in 80.6% (n = 75) of the patients. PIM were documented in 9.7% (n = 9), pDDI in 12.9% (n = 12) and pMD in 64.5% (n = 60) of the patients. Conclusion: We observed a high drug burden in mBC patients, largely due to treatment for comorbidities. These drugs might not only be associated with additional risk for side effects, pDDI, or PIM use, yet might also contribute to low medication adherence, higher medication costs and impaired QoL. Nuclear growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) reduces the binding of the mothers' against decapentaplegic homolog (SMAD) complex to its DNA-binding elements. However, the stimuli that control this process are unknown. Here, we examined whether saturated fatty acids (FA), particularly palmitate, regulate nuclear GDF15 levels and the activation of the SMAD3 pathway in human skeletal myotubes and mouse skeletal muscle, where most insulin-stimulated glucose use occurs in the whole organism. Human LHCN-M2 myotubes and skeletal muscle from wild-type and Gdf15−/− mice fed a standard (STD) or a high-fat (HFD) diet were subjected to a series of studies to investigate the involvement of lipids in nuclear GDF15 levels and the activation of the SMAD3 pathway. The saturated FA palmitate, but not the monounsaturated FA oleate, increased the expression of GDF15 in human myotubes and, unexpectedly, decreased its nuclear levels. This reduction was prevented by the nuclear export inhibitor leptomycin B. The decrease in nuclear GDF15 levels caused by palmitate was accompanied by increases in SMAD3 protein levels and in the expression of its target gene SERPINE1, which encodes plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1). HFD-fed Gdf15−/− mice displayed aggravated glucose intolerance compared to HFD-fed WT mice, with increased levels of SMAD3 and PAI-1 in the skeletal muscle. The increased PAI-1 levels in the skeletal muscle of HFD-fed Gdf15−/− mice were accompanied by a reduction in one of its targets, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)α, a cytokine involved in glucose metabolism. Interestingly, PAI-1 acts as a ligand of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and the phosphorylation of this transcription factor was exacerbated in HFD-fed Gdf15−/− mice compared to HFD-fed WT mice. At the same time, the protein levels of insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1) were reduced. These findings uncover a potential novel mechanism through which palmitate induces the SMAD3-PAI-1 pathway to promote insulin resistance in skeletal muscle by reducing nuclear GDF15 levels. Background: Control strategies against contagious agalactia (CA), considered one of the most important diseases affecting small ruminants in countries surrounding the Mediterranean, are mainly based on traditional strategies considered suboptimal such as the use of inactivated vaccines and antibiotics. This manuscript analysed the efficacy of an alternative non-mandatory official control programme based on a multi-platform diagnostic panel and biosecurity developed and started in 185 herds placed in a contagious agalactia endemic area of Spain, using the data of 74,080 samples collected and analysed during a 4 years-period (2018–2021). Results: Globally, the combined analyses of bulk tank milk (BTM), ear or nasal swabs (in goats or sheep, respectively) and the serology to detect Mycoplasma agalactiae (Ma), allowed the detection of 40.54% of positive farms (n = 75), with Ma the species always detected in sheep (100%) and Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri (Mmc, 68,8%), Ma (29,3%) or both of them (1,9%) in goats. Taking into account productive aptitude and vaccination against CA, the use of BTM, ear or nasal swabs, and serology for herd classification demonstrated either a lack of concordance or only weak concordance. In herds that did not vaccinate, the classification of positives by male serology or swab detection showed moderate concordance. Vaccination against AC proved to be a protective factor against the occurrence of herds with bucks or rams testing positive. Conclusions: Since the different diagnostic techniques are not interchangeable, it is necessary to apply a multi-platform diagnostic panel for the accurate classification of herds. Based on official classification, strict biosecurity standards, including the prohibition of the entry of animals with unknown health status, allowed the completion of the CA control program. The first Neolithic farmers arrived in the Western Mediterranean area from the East. They established settlements in coastal areas and over time migrated to new environments, adapting to changing ecological and climatic conditions. While farming practices and settlements in the Western Mediterranean differ greatly from those known in the Eastern Mediterranean and central Europe, the extent to which these differences are connected to the local environment and climate is unclear. Here, we tackle this question by compiling data and proxies at a superregional and multi-scale level, including archaeobotanical information, radiocarbon dates and paleoclimatic models, then applying a machine learning approach to investigate the impact of ecological and climatic constraints on the first Neolithic humans and crops. This approach facilitates calculating the pace of spread of farming in the Western Mediterranean area, modelling and estimating the potential areas suitable for settlement location, and discriminating distinct types of crop cultivation under changing climatic conditions that characterized the period 5900 – 2300 cal. BC. The results of this study shed light onto the past climate variability and its influence on human distribution in the Western Mediterranean area, but also discriminate sensitive parameters for successful agricultural practices. Quinazolines, particularly fluoro-quinazolines, represent important structural motifs in bioactive molecules and pharmaceuticals. Despite several known synthetic routes, the efficient synthesis of fluorine-containing quinazolines remains a challenge. Herein, the straightforward and sustainable synthesis of fluorine-substituted quinazolines using domino sequences is reported. The obtained novel fluoro-quinazoline compounds exhibit significant in vitro activity against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), expanding the library of potential antiviral drug compounds. Introduction: Recent studies focusing mainly on entrepreneurial motivation have identified several variables (family security, motivation, and entrepreneurial intentions) as predictors of employee creativity. This research aims to provide insights into the underlying factors that shape entrepreneurial motivation, which can be used to develop effective strategies to support and foster entrepreneurship. In this study, we examine the relationship between workaholism, personality, obsessive beliefs and entrepreneurial motivation. Methods: The study sample was comprised of 1,106 Spanish workers (48.51% men and 51.49% women) obtained through non-probability sampling. Results: Our results showed that entrepreneurship motivation is related to personality traits. Positive relationships have been found with the variable perfectionism and intolerance of uncertainty, conscientiousness, work enjoyment, and agreeableness. Perfectionism and intolerance of uncertainty are the variables most strongly related to entrepreneurial motivation. Discussion: Our study contributes to the body of literature that examines the relationships between workaholism, personality, obsessive beliefs, and entrepreneurial motivation. The practical implications suggest that entrepreneurship support programs could benefit from considering not only entrepreneurial orientation but also other variables such as perfectionism and work enjoyment. High-throughput proteomic platforms are crucial to identify novel Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers and pathways. In this study, we evaluated the reproducibility and reliability of aptamer-based (SomaScan® 7k) and antibody-based (Olink® Explore 3k) proteomic platforms in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona real-world cohort. Intra- and inter-platform reproducibility were evaluated through correlations between two independent SomaScan® assays analyzing the same samples, and between SomaScan® and Olink® results. Association analyses were performed between proteomic measures, CSF biological traits, sample demographics, and AD endophenotypes. Our 12-category metric of reproducibility combining correlation analyses identified 2428 highly reproducible SomaScan CSF measures, with over 600 proteins well reproduced on another proteomic platform. The association analyses among AD clinical phenotypes revealed that the significant associations mainly involved reproducible proteins. The validation of reproducibility in these novel proteomics platforms, measured using this scarce biomaterial, is essential for accurate analysis and proper interpretation of innovative results. Background Mucocutaneous Behçet disease often presents a therapeutic challenge. Roflumilast has shown promise in the treatment of other inflammatory dermatological conditions. Objectives The objective of this study was to evaluate the characteristics, effectiveness and safety of roflumilast in the treatment of Behçet disease-associated aphthosis in routine clinical practice. Methods We performed a single-cohort ambispective observational study. Eleven patients with Behçet disease treated with roflumilast participated. Data collection included demographic, clinical and outcome variables. Statistical analysis compared 12 weeks of treatment with roflumilast with a previous period without treatment and with a period when the previous treatment was used. Results During treatment with roflumilast, a reduction in flare-ups and oral ulcers was observed compared with the untreated period and the previous treatment period. A reduction in genital ulcers, pain and ulcer duration was observed between the without treatment period and the roflumilast treatment period. Adverse effects occurred in 54% of patients, most of which were self-limiting or manageable with dose adjustment. No patients withdrew treatment. Conclusions Roflumilast appears to be a potential option in the treatment of Behçet disease with favourable effectiveness, safety and tolerability profiles. Although further research is needed, roflumilast offers a promising treatment option for Behçet disease-associated aphthosis, which could improve the patients' quality of life and address unmet therapeutic needs. There is growing evidence about how physical activity can improve cancer care. Unfortunately, exercise is still not widely prescribed to oncology patients, despite the benefit it brings. For this to occur, it is necessary for a multidisciplinary approach involving different types of healthcare professionals, given that each treatment be tailored for each single case. Besides incorporating appropriate infrastructures and referral pathways, we need to integrate exercise into healthcare practice, which ameliorates patients' quality of life and treatment side effects. From the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), and through the Exercise and Cancer Working Group, we indicate considerations, analyze patient care scenarios, and propose a referral pathway algorithm for exercise prescription, taking in account the patient's needs. In later sections of this paper, we describe how this algorithm could be implemented, and how the exercise programs should be built, including the physical activity contents, the settings, and the delivery mode. We conclude that professionals, infrastructures, and organizations should be available at every assistance level to create programs providing adequate exercise training for cancer patients. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of a positive mental health program for adults (PMHP) in the community. Background: Positive mental health (PMH) can be seen as a construct represented by six factors (personal satisfaction, prosocial attitude, self‐control, autonomy, problem resolution, and self‐actualization, and interpersonal relationship skills) according to the Multifactorial Model for PMH. Although there are several interventions in promoting mental health, research on effective promotion of PMH for adults in the community with structured and validated programs of PMH is scarce. Methods: This study protocol describes a randomized controlled trial (RCT) following a wait‐list control design, aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a PMHP in the community. This study was approved in June 2019 by the Ethics Committee. Participants will be recruited from the school community of teachers. Participants aged ≥ 18 years. The participants will be randomized 1:1 to either (a) an intervention group, which will integrate the PMHP, or (b) the standby control group. Three assessment moments for both groups will take place initial, after the intervention, and a follow‐up of 3–6 months. The evaluation instruments will include a sociodemographic questionnaire, a PMH questionnaire, and a psychological vulnerability scale. Conclusion: The current study provides an innovative approach to PMH. Further, the study may demonstrate new interventions in PMH in the community, based on a program with systematized guidelines and sessions structured according to individual needs. It is expected that at the end of the program, the experimental group will increase the level of PMH. Relevance to clinical practice: To allow future official implementation of the PMH program and the replication of the study in other professional groups as a promotion tool. Background: In this study, we expand the supportive evidence for total disc arthroplasty (TDA) with results up to 21 years in a large patient cohort who received a semiconstrained ball-and-socket lumbar prosthesis. The objectives of the study were to compare the results for 1 versus 2-level surgeries and to evaluate whether prior surgery at the index level(s) impacts clinical outcomes. Methods: From 1999 to 2013, 1,187 patients with chronic lumbar degenerative disc disease (DDD) underwent lumbar TDA, of whom 772 underwent a 1-level procedure and 415 underwent a 2-level procedure. A total of 373 (31.4%) of the 1,187 patients had prior index-level surgery. Patients were evaluated preoperatively; at 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postoperatively; and yearly thereafter. The follow-up duration ranged from 7 to 21 years (mean, 11 years and 8 months). Collected data included radiographic, neurological, and physical assessments, as well as self-evaluations using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scale (VAS) for back and leg pain. Perioperative data points, complication rates, and reoperation or revision rates were also assessed. Patients were divided into 4 groups: 1-level TDA with no prior surgery at the index level, 1-level TDA with prior surgery, 2-level TDA with no prior surgery, and 2-level TDA with prior surgery. Results: All groups showed dramatic reduction in the ODI at 3 months postoperatively and maintained these scores over time. Although VAS pain did not diminish to its final level as rapidly for patients with prior surgery, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of pain reduction at 24 months postoperatively. Of 1,187 patients, 49 (4.13%) required either a new surgery at another level or revision or reoperation at the index level. Rates were too low in all groups to compare them statistically. Total TDA revision and adjacent-level surgery rates over 7 to 21 years were very low (0.67% and 1.85%, respectively). Conclusions: This study demonstrates the robust long-term clinical success of 1 and 2-level lumbar TDA as assessed at 7 to 21 years postoperatively in one of the largest evaluated cohorts of patients with TDA. Patients had dramatic and maintained reductions in disability and pain scores over time and low rates of index-level revision or reoperation and adjacent-level surgery relative to published long-term fusion data. Additionally, patients who underwent 1-level lumbar TDA and those who underwent 2-level TDA demonstrated equivalent improvement, as did patients with prior surgery at the index level and those with no prior surgery. Background: Complete mesocolon excision (CME) and D3-lymphadenectomy concepts have gained popularity for the surgical treatment of right colon cancer in comparison to the conventional laparoscopic right hemicolectomy (CLRH). The rationale of CME is to dissect the embryological planes between the mesenteric plane and the parietal fascia to remove the mesentery within a complete envelope of mesenteric fascia and visceral peritoneum that contains lymph nodes, the central vascular ligation, and adequate bowel length to remove involved pericolic lymph nodes in the longitudinal direction, having as the main goal to improve the oncological results. CME with D3-lymphadenectomy is challenge since involves the excision of the lymph adipose tissue covering the medial edge of the superior mesenteric vein (SMV) (trunk of Gillot, TG), and the gastrocolic trunk of Henle (GTH). We describe a LRH with CME using a cranial approach allowing an easier central vessels origin identification. Technique: Through the supramesocolic approach, gastrocolic ligament is opened and the GTH and the middle colic artery (MCA) and vein (MCV) origins are identified. Hepatic flexure is mobilized, and a gauze is placed above the mesenteric vessels. Then, the SMV is identified, dividing the ileocolic vessels origin. The plane between the Gerota and Toldt fascias is opened, identifying duodenum, pancreas, and the gauze previously placed. Following this plane and the SMV along the TG, the GTH and its branches are identified. The superior right colic vein, and the MCA and MCV right branches are divided. After that, colon is fully mobilized laterally opening the parietocolic gutter and an intracorporeal anastomosis is performed. Conclusion: CME could lead to an improvement of oncological results due to a wider mesocolic excision in comparison to conventional D2-lymphadenectomy. Background: Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome is a monogenic type 1 interferonopathy with infantile onset, characterized by a variable degree of neurological damage. Approximately 7% of Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome cases are caused by pathogenic variants in the ADAR gene and are classified as Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome type 6. Here, we present a new homozygous pathogenic variant in the ADAR gene. Currently, Janus Kinase inhibitors have been proposed to treat selected interferonopathies such as Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome, although limited information is available on its use and results in the neonatal presentation of this disease. Case presentation: We present two siblings, a male neonate with congenital petechial rash, severe thrombopenia and generalized hypotonia and his deceased sister who had normal development until 5 months of age, when she suffered acute encephalopathy. We describe the clinical course, complementary examinations and follow-up with early treatment of the newborn with ruxolitinib. The homozygous variant c.2908G > A (p.Ala970Thr) in the ADAR gene was found in both siblings, parents were heterozygous carriers. Conclusions: The homozygous variant c.2908G > A (p.Ala970Thr) in the ADAR gene causes Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome type 6. Intrafamilial phenotypic spectrum of the disease varies among individuals with the same pathogenic variant. Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of synaptic dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and glial response, complementing Alzheimer's disease (AD) core biomarkers, have improved the pathophysiological characterization of the disease. Here, we tested the hypothesis that the co-expression of multiple CSF biomarkers will help the identification of AD-like phenotypes when biomarker positivity thresholds are not met yet. Methods: Two hundred and seventy cognitively unimpaired adults with family history (FH) of sporadic AD (mean age = 60.6 ± 4.85 years, 64.8% women) underwent lumbar puncture, magnetic resonance imaging (n = 266) and positron emission tomography imaging (n = 239) protocols, and clinical evaluations. CSF Aβ42, Aβ40, p-tau181, p-tau217, p-tau231, NfL, neurogranin, sTREM2, YKL40, GFAP, S100, α-Synuclein, SYT1, and SNAP25 were measured. Participants were clustered based on CSF biomarker co-expression with an agglomerative algorithm. The predictive value of the classification against brain and cognitive outcomes was evaluated. Results: Three clusters (C) were identified. Higher Aβ burden and CSF p-tau was the hallmark of C1. The other two clusters showed lower Aβ burden but higher expression of glial (C2) or synaptic markers (C3). Participants in C1 showed an AD-like clinical phenotype, comprising participants with the overall highest percentage of two parent FH and APOE-ε4 carriers, in addition to comprising more females compared to C2. C3 displayed better vascular health compared to C1. C2 were older and comprised a lower percentage of females compared to C3. C1 showed an AD-like gray matter reduction in medial temporal (notably hippocampus) and frontal regions that were not observed in Aβ42/40 + compared with Aβ42/40 −. Furthermore, Aβ42/40 − participants in C1 showed GM reduction in inferior temporal areas compared with Aβ42/40 + participants overall. C1 membership also predicted cognitive decline in executive function, but not memory, beyond Aβ + status, overall suggesting a better prognosis in Aβ42/40 + participants without C1 membership. Additionally, C1 displayed a higher rate of conversion to Aβ + (25%) over time. Conclusions: Our results suggest that examining multiple CSF biomarkers reflecting diverse pathological pathways may complement and/or outperform AD core biomarkers and thresholding approaches to identify individuals showing a clinical and cognitive AD-like phenotype, including higher conversion to Aβ + , GM reductions and cognitive decline. Soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections account for a significant global health burden, necessitating mass drug administration with benzimidazole-class anthelmintics, such as albendazole (ALB), for morbidity control. However, ALB efficacy shows substantial variability, presenting challenges for achieving consistent treatment outcomes. We have explored the potential impact of the baseline gut microbiota on ALB efficacy in hookworm-infected individuals through microbiota profiling and machine learning (ML) techniques. Our investigation included 89 stool samples collected from hookworm-infected individuals that were analyzed by microscopy and quantitative PCR (qPCR). Of these, 44 were negative by microscopy for STH infection using the Kato-Katz method and qPCR 21 days after treatment, which entails a cure rate of 49.4%. Microbiota characterization was based on amplicon sequencing of the V3–V4 16S ribosomal RNA gene region. Alpha and beta diversity analyses revealed no significant differences between participants who were cured and those who were not cured, suggesting that baseline microbiota diversity does not influence ALB treatment outcomes. Furthermore, differential abundance analysis at the phylum, family and genus levels yielded no statistically significant associations between bacterial communities and ALB efficacy. Utilizing supervised ML models failed to predict treatment response accurately. Our investigation did not provide conclusive insights into the relationship between gut microbiota and ALB efficacy. However, the results highlight the need for future research to incorporate longitudinal studies that monitor changes in the gut microbiota related to the infection and the cure with ALB, as well as functional metagenomics to better understand the interaction of the microbiome with the drug, and its role, if there is any, in modulating anthelmintic treatment outcomes in STH infections. Interdisciplinary approaches integrating microbiology, pharmacology, genetics and data science will be pivotal in advancing our understanding of STH infections and optimizing treatment strategies globally. A bottleneck in the development of new anti‐cancer drugs is the recognition of their mode of action (MoA). Metabolomics combined with machine learning allowed to predict MoAs of novel anti‐proliferative drug candidates, focusing on human prostate cancer cells (PC‐3). As proof of concept, 38 drugs are studied with known effects on 16 key processes of cancer metabolism, profiling low molecular weight intermediates of the central carbon and cellular energy metabolism (CCEM) by LC‐MS/MS. These metabolic patterns unveiled distinct MoAs, enabling accurate MoA predictions for novel agents by machine learning. The transferability of MoA predictions based on PC‐3 cell treatments is validated with two other cancer cell models, i.e., breast cancer and Ewing's sarcoma, and show that correct MoA predictions for alternative cancer cells are possible, but still at some expense of prediction quality. Furthermore, metabolic profiles of treated cells yield insights into intracellular processes, exemplified for drugs inducing different types of mitochondrial dysfunction. Specifically, it is predicted that pentacyclic triterpenes inhibit oxidative phosphorylation and affect phospholipid biosynthesis, as confirmed by respiration parameters, lipidomics, and molecular docking. The issue of water scarcity, exacerbated by climate change and demographic increase, has become a growing concern in many regions throughout the world. Understanding hydrological behaviour to promote resilient and sustainable water management is paramount. Hydrological models that integrate natural processes and anthropogenic alterations of the basin's hydrology are a powerful tool to support decision-making. We developed a SWAT + hydrological model including stakeholder expert knowledge on water management and introducing a novel calibration and validation approach suitable for heterogeneous basins in space and/or time. We also assessed spatio-temporal patterns and trends of streamflow during the first 2 decades of the 21st century in the Catalan River Basin District, in the western Mediterranean, using a wide variety of indicators to fully characterize the hydrological regime. We calibrated and validated the model using data from 50 gauging stations, verifying the usefulness of the new calibration and validation strategy. Co-development with stakeholders and the integration of expert knowledge, most notably on reservoir operations, helped improve model performance. Results revealed a generalized streamflow reduction, as well as increased dominance of streamflow flashiness and zero-flow recurrence. We also observed differences in seasonal trends, with autumn being the most affected season. These results provide insights into how climate change and anthropogenic pressures are going to keep affecting water resources availability in the future, thus raising the need for sustainable management practices in the Catalan River Basin District, as well as other regions vulnerable to water scarcity. β-blockers that easily cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) seem to diminish the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD), hypothetically facilitating waste clearance. However, their effect on AD pathophysiological markers is unknown. We compared cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) AD biomarker levels among non-demented individuals taking low, intermediate, or high BBB permeable β-blockers in two samples (ADNI: n = 216; EPAD: n = 79). We found that CSF amyloid-β levels were higher in individuals taking highly permeable β-blockers in the ADNI sample. This result was not replicated in EPAD, in which diminished levels of pTau181 and tTau were observed. These data suggest that β-blockers may impact AD pathophysiology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Protracted febrile myalgia (PFM) is a rare but severe form of myalgia mainly occurring in pediatric patients with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). PFM imaging and histopathological data remain scarce. Objectives: A comprehensive clinical, imaging, and histopathological characterization of PFM was performed by retrospectively analyzing a reference center cohort of adult patients with FMF and myalgia, and by a PubMed search of well-described cases with PFM. Results: Among 56 adults with FMF from our center, 32 (57.1%) experienced myalgia, which was generalized in 21 (37.5%) and affected lower limbs in 11 (19.6%) subjects. One (1.8%) patient suffered PFM, mainly affecting calves and Achilles tendons. From our patient's detailed information and the data from 123 PFM cases reported in the literature, PFM was characterized as usually presenting with fever and severe generalized myalgia, with occasional involvement of lower legs and calves. It is mainly associated (in >90% of cases) with the pathogenic mutation M694V in the MEFV gene. Raised acute phase reactants and normal creatine kinase levels are constant. High glucocorticoid doses are useful in most patients, and sustained colchicine treatment protects from PFM recurrences. MRI may identify a variable degree of muscle inflammatory changes, especially subfascial and myofascial lesions with extension to tendinous structures. PFM histopathology is characterized by T-cell rich inflammatory infiltrates and vasculitis mainly involving the fasciae and myofascial areas, with a lower muscle extent. Conclusions: PFM can occur in children and adults and appears to be clinically manifested as fasciitis/tendinitis caused by a vasculitis of the fasciae rather than a major muscle vasculitis. This project studies how to raise awareness of the environment and sustainability among secondary school students. The goal is for them to become aware of their role in transforming the world, in order to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into students' daily educational environment. The goal is to attain the highest possible level of diversity in terms of age, possible knowledge of the SDGs, and environmental awareness. Another important factor is geographical distribution, with the inclusion of students from rural and urban schools. The study was developed within the framework of Forest and Sustainability, a project designed for secondary schools in Catalonia, using interactive learning tools. Survey participants (a total of 1106) are asked to choose and prioritize five SDGs. To obtain information on the trends in the responses, the program Minitab Statistical Software (v.22) was used. The SDGs with the highest score are SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The humanitarian and health factors concern members of the sample group most, with very interesting results when comparing the responses by gender, educational level, and rural or urban schools' participants. Wesselsbron virus (WSLV) is a zoonotic, mosquito-borne orthoflavivirus endemic to sub-Saharan Africa, causing abortions and stillbirths in small ruminants. The life cycle of WSLV involves Aedes mosquitoes and various wildlife and domestic animals. Seminal studies in the 1950s have shown the zoonotic potential of WSLV, notably in accidental infections of laboratory workers exposed to infected material. More recent epidemiological studies suggest the emergence of clade I WSLV strains in peri-domestic and rural areas of western and eastern Africa. The pathobiology of recent clade I WSLV strains is unknown and no virus isolate is available. To address these gaps, we generated a recombinant clade I WSLV SA999 infectious clone (rSA999) by reverse genetics. Subsequently, lactating ewes were inoculated intravenously with the WSLV rSA999 strain or the clade II SAH177 strain in insect-free biocontainment stables. Inoculated ewes developed fever, viremia, and showed high levels of viral RNA at mucosal surfaces, and elevated viral titers in milk. Milk production was reduced, which directly affected the growth of the lambs, particularly within the rSA999 group. The ewes with higher WSLV titers in their milk in each group transmitted the infection to their lambs, which developed fever, prolonged viremia, and virus secretion. All infected animals produced high antibody titers with cross-neutralizing activity against both WSLV strains. Histopathology and blood biochemistry analysis indicated liver damage associated with necrotizing hepatitis lesions and active viral replication in some cases, which was more pronounced in the rSA999 group. Notably, only the SAH177-infected animals exhibited lesions consistent with meningoencephalitis, suggesting that WSLV clade II strains are neurotropic and that clade I strain are more hepatotropic. These findings demonstrate a previously unrecognized mode of vector-free transmission of WSLV that raises significant concerns for public and animal health. Currently, two genetic clades of WSLV are circulating in sub-Saharan Africa: clade I strains are widely distributed and reported more frequently than clade II strains, which are confined to South Africa. The pathogenicity and mode of transmission of more recent WSLV strains have not been studied. In this study, we established a reverse genetics method to generate a recombinant clade I WSLV SA999 infectious clone (rSA999). To explore direct transmission, lactating ewes were inoculated with either the WSLV rSA999 strain or the clade II SAH177 strain. All ewes developed fever, viremia, and showed high levels of viral RNA at mucosal surfaces and milk. Several lambs (40%) in each group developed severe disease, and WSLV transmission to the lambs correlated with the highest viral titers in the milk of their respective mothers. All infected animals produced cross-neutralizing antibodies against both WSLV strains. Histopathological and blood biochemistry analyses suggested a strain-specific predominant tropism for liver (clade I) and brain (clade II). Purpose: Recent studies have established the safety and efficacy of Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide (SPIO, Magtrace®) for delayed sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) who are undergoing mastectomy. The aim of our study was to measure cost containment with use of Magtrace® in comparison to upfront SLNB with traditional technetium-99 lymphatic tracer. Methods: A total of 41 patients at our institution underwent mastectomy with Magtrace® injection for DCIS and were included in our single-institution, retrospective analysis. For comparison, total charges data were obtained for an upfront SLNB at the time of mastectomy. Cost comparison analysis was then performed against charges for intraoperative Magtrace® injection with additional charges incorporated for those patients who required return to the operating room for delayed SLNB. Total cost containment for the cohort with use of Magtrace® was then measured. Results: Of the 41 patients who underwent Magtrace® injection, two patients required return to the operating room for a delayed SLNB for invasive disease. Including these charges for a second encounter into our cost analysis, the use of Magtrace® still yielded an overall cost containment of $205,793.55 in our cohort when comparing to patients who underwent upfront SLNB. For patients who underwent Magtrace® injection and did not require return to the operating room, charges were reduced by $6,768.52 per patient. Conclusion: The use of Magtrace® for delayed SLNB in patients with DCIS undergoing mastectomy yielded a significant overall cost containment, further supporting its use in this patient population. Introduction: Severe recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) represents a therapeutic challenge because of its impact on the patient's quality of life. Additionally, no approved systemic therapies are available. Roflumilast, a phosphodiesterase‐4 inhibitor, has shown promise in other inflammatory dermatological conditions. This study aimed to assess the characteristics, effectiveness, and safety of roflumilast in treating RAS in routine clinical practice. Methods: This is a single cohort ambispective observational study conducted in five Spanish centers. Twenty‐two patients with RAS treated with roflumilast participated. Data collection included demographic, clinical, and outcome variables. Statistical analysis compared the outcomes of 12 weeks of roflumilast treatment with a similar prior period without treatment. Results: During treatment with roflumilast, a significant reduction in flare‐ups (88%) and oral ulcers (94%) was observed compared to the untreated period. A reduction in pain (66%) and ulcer duration (63%) was observed. Adverse effects (AEs) occurred in 13 patients, predominantly headache and gastrointestinal disturbances. Most of these were self‐limiting or manageable with dose adjustment. Treatment was withdrawn in three cases, mainly because of AEs. Conclusions: This study suggests that roflumilast may effectively treat RAS by reducing the number of flare‐ups and ulcers, their duration, and the symptomatology produced by the ulcers. In addition, roflumilast has a good safety profile, is well tolerated at low doses, and does not require close monitoring. Nd-Fe-B-type permanent magnets, containing approximately 30% critical rare-earth elements by weight, are essential components in renewable energy systems (e.g., wind turbines, hydroelectric generators) and electric vehicles. They are also critical for consumer electronics and electric motors in products like energy-efficient air conditioners and home appliances. In light of advancing sustainability goals, the direct reuse of magnets from end-of-life devices offers a promising alternative to energy-intensive and costly recycling methods based on hydro- and pyrometallurgical processes, as well as modern short-loop recycling through hydrogen processing. However, Nd-Fe-B magnets must be demagnetized before they can be extracted from devices. This study explores the effects of thermal demagnetization, performed either in air or a vacuum, on the stability of anticorrosion coatings and the magnetic performance of remagnetized magnets. Corrosion tests were conducted to assess the compatibility of various coatings with thermal demagnetization, identifying those most suitable for future applications involving magnet reuse. Summary Advances in high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies and decreasing costs have fueled the identification of small genetic variants (such as single nucleotide variants and indels) across tumors. Despite efforts to standardize variant formats and vocabularies, many sources of variability persist across databases and computational tools that annotate variants, hindering their integration within cancer genomic analyses. In this context, we present OpenVariant, an easily extendable Python package that facilitates seamless reading, parsing and refinement of diverse input file formats in a customizable structure, all within a single process. Ageing-related changes in the vascular wall influence the function of different organs; for this reason, we assessed how arterial stiffness measured by carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cf-PWV) modulates: the basal cognitive performance and the change in cognitive performance over the follow-up time. We developed a prospective, population-based cohort study with 1581 participants aged > 65 years were obtained from the Toledo Study for Healthy Aging. Participants from the second wave (2011–2013) were selected for the cross-sectional analysis. Those who also performed the cognitive assessment in the third wave (2015–2017) were selected for the prospective analysis. Arterial stiffness was evaluated by cf-PWV. Multivariate segmented regression models were used to evaluate the association between cf-PWV scores and basal neuropsychological evaluation scores and change of neuropsychological evaluation scores along follow-up. Cross-sectional analysis showed that as cf-PWV grew within the cf-PWV (5– < 10) category an improvement was observed in 7-min test, free short-term memory, and hole peg test. Furthermore, in the cf-PWV (> 13–18) category a decrease was observed in total short-term memory, free long-term memory, and total long-term memory. Prospective analysis showed a progressive worsening of cognitive function as cf-PWV increases within the cf-PWV (> 13–18) category in 7-min test, object denomination, immediate and short-term memory, and hole peg test, while in the cf-PWV (5– < 10) category, there was observed a decrease in Cumulative Executive Dysfunction Index score and short-term memory. In conclusion, a higher cf-PWV score is associated with worse cognitive performance, and with a worse evolution, reinforcing the need to plan interventions to delay arterial stiffness and its consequences. Wastewater-based surveillance (WBS) is a proven tool for monitoring population-level infection events. Wastewater contains high concentrations of inhibitors, which contaminate the total nucleic acids (TNA) extracted from these samples. We found that TNA extracts from raw influent of Berlin wastewater treatment plants contained highly variable amounts of inhibitors that impaired molecular analyses like dPCR and next-generation sequencing (NGS). By using dilutions, we were able to detect inhibitory effects. To enhance WBS sensitivity and stability, we applied a combination of PCR inhibitor removal and TNA dilution (PIR+D). This approach led to a 26-fold increase in measured SARS-CoV-2 concentrations, practically reducing the detection limit. Additionally, we observed a substantial increase in the stability of the time series. We define suitable stability as a mean absolute error (MAE) below 0.1 log10 copies/L and a geometric mean relative absolute error (GMRAE) below 26%. Using PIR+D, the MAE could be reduced from 0.219 to 0.097 and the GMRAE from 65.5% to 26.0%, and even further in real-world WBS. Furthermore, PIR+D improved SARS-CoV-2 genome alignment and coverage in amplicon-based NGS for low to medium concentrations. Tumor-derived prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) impairs antitumor immunity by priming suppressive functions on various immune cell types, including dendritic cells (DCs). In this way, tumors mediate DC dysfunction and hamper their antitumoral activity. PGE2 is known to modulate DC function via signaling through the E-type prostanoid receptor 2 (EP2) and EP4. Preclinical studies have demonstrated the therapeutic value of targeting EP2/4 receptor signaling in DCs. Ongoing phase 1 clinical trials with EP antagonists have shown immunomodulation in cancer patients. However, the systemic drug administration leads to off-target events and subsequent side effects. To limit the off-target effects of EP targeting, EP2 and EP4 antagonists were encapsulated in polymeric nanoparticles (NPs). In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of EP2/4-specific antagonists encapsulated in NPs to protect conventional type 2 DCs (cDC2s) from suppressive effects of tumor-derived PGE2 in different tumor models. We show that tumor-derived PGE2 signals via EP2/4 to mediate the acquisition of a suppressive phenotype of cDC2s. EP2/4 antagonists encapsulated in NPs impaired the conversion of cDC2s toward a suppressive state and inhibited the occurrence of suppressive features such as interleukin-10 production or the ability to expand regulatory T cells. Importantly, the NPs abolished the transition toward this suppressive state in different tumor models: melanoma-conditioned media, ascites fluid derived from ovarian cancer patients (2-dimensional), and upon coculture with colorectal cancer patient–derived organoids (3-dimensional). We propose that targeting the PGE2-EP2/4 axis using NPs can achieve immunomodulation in the immune system of cancer patients, alleviate tumor-derived suppression, and thus facilitate the development of potent antitumor immunity in cancer patients. Cerebral malaria (CM), the most lethal clinical syndrome of Plasmodium falciparum infection, mostly affects children under 5 in sub-Saharan Africa. CM is characterized by seizures and impaired consciousness that lead to death in 15–20% of cases if treated quickly, but it is completely fatal when untreated. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an invaluable source of information on the pathophysiology of brain damage, but, due to limited access to scanners in endemic regions, only until very recently have case reports of CM patients studied with advanced MRI methods been published. The murine model of experimental cerebral malaria (ECM) shares many common features with the human disease and has been extensively used to study the pathogenic mechanisms of the neurological syndrome. In vivo MRI studies on this model, the first of which was published in 2005, have contributed to a better understanding of brain lesion formation in CM and identified disease markers that were confirmed by MRI studies published from 2013 onwards in pediatric patients from endemic areas. Family members of people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) often experience high levels of psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or burden. Family Connections (FC) is a pioneer program designed for relatives of people with BPD, and it is the most empirically supported treatment thus far. The aim of this study was to carry out a randomized clinical trial to confirm the differential efficacy of FC versus an active treatment as usual (TAU) in relatives of people with BPD in a Spanish population sample. The sample consisted of 121 family members (82 family units) and a total of 82 patients who participated in a two‐arm randomized controlled trial (RCT). The primary outcome was burden of illness. Secondary outcomes were depression, anxiety, stress, family empowerment, and quality of life. This is the first study to evaluate relatives and patients in an RCT design comparing two active treatment conditions of similar durations. Although no statistically significant differences were found between conditions. However, the adjusted posttest means for FC were systematically better than for TAU, and the effect sizes were larger in burden, stress, depression, family functioning, and quality of life in the FC intervention. Patients of caregivers who received the FC condition showed statistically significant improvements in stress, depression, and anxiety. The main goal of this study is to explore the moderating role of board gender diversity on the relationship between CEO duality, board size, board meetings, and firm performance in sustainable companies. This study examines the 120 most sustainable European firms listed in the EuroNext Vigeo Europe 120 Index from 2012 to 2021, with the findings showing that board gender diversity negatively moderates the relationship between CEO duality and firm performance, while positively moderating board meetings' impact. Furthermore, in banking‐oriented countries, board gender diversity positively moderates the relationship between board meetings and firm performance, while these effects are not significant in market‐oriented countries. The paper highlights that despite progress in increasing representation, mechanisms to ensure effective female participation in board decision‐making are required. European badgers (Meles meles) play an important role in the epidemiology of bovine tuberculosis (caused by Mycobacterium bovis) in England, but little is known about the prevalence of atypical mycobacteriosis. Badgers are also known to be infected by other infectious agents, and the relationship between mycobacteriosis and concomitant infections needs further investigation. Overall, 88 badger carcasses from the Midlands of England collected between July 2016-August 2017 were selected for histopathological examination based on the degree of autolysis (mild), mycobacterial culture results and a balanced sex ratio. Mycobacteria were cultured from 44 badgers, of which 31 were mycobacteria belonging to the M. tuberculosis complex (MTBC) (based on IS6110 PCR and Hsp64 and/or rRNA PCR and sequencing) and 13 were non-tuberculous atypical mycobacteria (NTM). Mycobacteria were not cultured from the remaining 44 animals. Histologically, the most common findings were silica-laden macrophages (85%), granulomas (53%), sarcocystosis (47%), nephritis (31%), portal/periportal hepatitis (26%), ulcerative dermatitis (18%). Culturable mycobacteriosis was associated with higher prevalence of granulomas (p < 0.001) and lower prevalence of hepatitis (p = 0.003). NTM (M. nonchromogenicum, M. avium complex, M. hassiacum, M. malmoense, M. vaccae.) infections were associated with granulomatous pneumonia, and M. malmoense was associated with pyogranulomatous and ulcerative dermatitis. In conclusion, this study describes, for the first time, histological lesions associated with NTM in badgers, the histomorphology of which was similar to those caused by MTBC. In addition, the negative relationship between mycobacteriosis and periportal hepatitis may indicate a complex relationship between mycobacteriosis and other diseases, as previously observed with tuberculosis. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most common health threats worldwide. 2D X-ray invasive coronary angiography (ICA) remains the most widely adopted imaging modality for CVD assessment during real-time cardiac interventions. However, it is often difficult for the cardiologists to interpret the 3D geometry of coronary vessels based on 2D planes. Moreover, due to the radiation limit, often only two angiographic projections are acquired, providing limited information of the vessel geometry and necessitating 3D coronary tree reconstruction based only on two ICA projections. In this paper, we propose a self-supervised deep learning method called NeCA, which is based on neural implicit representation using the multiresolution hash encoder and differentiable cone-beam forward projector layer, in order to achieve 3D coronary artery tree reconstruction from two 2D projections. We validate our method using six different metrics on a dataset generated from coronary computed tomography angiography of right coronary artery and left anterior descending artery. The evaluation results demonstrate that our NeCA method, without requiring 3D ground truth for supervision or large datasets for training, achieves promising performance in both vessel topology and branch-connectivity preservation compared to the supervised deep learning model. Background/Objectives: Early life gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in shaping immunity, metabolism, and overall health outcomes. This is relevant in healthy infants but may be even more crucial in infants with chronic devastating diseases, such as cystic fibrosis (CF). While the introduction of solid foods in healthy infants modifies the composition of colonic microbiota, less knowledge is available on those with CF. The aim of this descriptive observational study was to assess the composition of fecal microbiota in six exclusively breast-fed infants with CF, and then explore the changes induced upon the introduction of different foods. Methods: two types of fecal samples were collected from each subject: one during the exclusive-breastfeeding period, and the other after incorporating each new food in the ad libitum diet. The microbiota composition was analyzed by 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Results: Wide heterogenicity in the composition at the phylum level (variable proportions of Actinobacteriota, Proteobacteria, and Firmicutes, and the absence of Bacteroidota in all subjects) was found, and different enterotypes were characterized in each subject by the main presence of one genus: Bifidobacterium in Subject 1 (relative abundance of 54.4%), Klebsiella in Subject 3 (49.1%), Veillonella in Subjects 4 and 5 (32.7% and 36.9%, respectively), and Clostridium in Subject 6 (48.9%). The transition to complementary feeding induced variable changes in microbiota composition, suggesting a subject-specific response and highlighting the importance of inter-individual variation. Conclusions: Further studies are required to identify which foods contribute to shaping colonic microbiota in the most favorable way for patients with CF using a personalized approach. PURPOSE: To comprehensively synthesize the existing evidence concerning mHealth interventions for patients with breast cancer (BC). DESIGN: On July 30, 2023, we searched PubMed, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar for articles using the following inclusion criteria: evaluation of mHealth interventions in patients with cancer, at least 30 participants with BC, randomized control trials or prospective pre-post studies, determinants of health (patient-reported outcomes [PROs] and quality of life [QoL]) as primary outcomes, interventions lasting at least 8 weeks, publication after January 2015. Publications were excluded if they evaluated telehealth or used web-based software for desktop devices only. The quality of the included studies was analyzed with the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool and the Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies. RESULTS: We included 30 studies (20 focused on BC), encompassing 5,691 patients with cancer (median 113, IQR, 135.5). Among these, 3,606 had BC (median 99, IQR, 75). All studies contained multiple interventions, including physical activity, tailored information for self-management of the disease, and symptom tracker. Interventions showed better results on self-efficacy (3/3), QoL (10/14), and physical activity (5/7). Lifestyle programs (3/3), expert consulting (4/4), and tailored information (10/11) yielded the best results. Apps with interactive support had a higher rate of positive findings, while interventions targeted to survivors showed worse results. mHealth tools were not available to the public in most of the studies (17/30). CONCLUSION: mHealth interventions yielded heterogeneous results on different outcomes. Identifying lack of evidence on clinical scenarios (eg, patients undergoing systemic therapy other than chemotherapy) could aid in refining strategic planning for forthcoming research endeavors within this field. Background: Second-generation tau tracers for positron emission tomography (PET) show high affinity for paired helical filaments tau deposits characteristic of Alzheimer´s disease and low off-target binding. Differences in their chemical structure though may lead to variations in their regional tau uptake and off-target signal. In this work, we aimed to compare the in-vivo uptake of tau tracers [18F]PI-2620 and [18F]RO948 in the early stages of the AD continuum. Methods: Data from the TAU-PET FACEHBI clinical trial (EUDRA-CT 2021–000473-83) were analyzed. All participants were non-demented and underwent tau imaging with [18F]PI-2620 and [18F]RO948 PET within 3 months, amyloid imaging with [18F]Florbetaben and brain magnetic resonance imaging. Tau PET standardized uptake values ratios (SUVR) were calculated in Braak and typical off-target regions using the inferior cerebellar cortex as a reference region. Results: The cohort consisted of 18 individuals with subjective cognitive decline (n = 13) and mild cognitive impairment (n = 5), with centiloid values ranging from 17 to 159. Both tau tracers showed similar tau pathology distribution but presented a distinct off-target signal pattern on visual read. SUVR measurements for [18F]PI-2620 and [18F]RO948 were highly correlated in all Braak regions (R2 range [0.65–0.80]). Regarding off-target signal, [18F]PI-2620 had higher SUVRs in vascular structures, and [18F]RO948 had higher SUVRs in the skull/meninges. Conclusions: In a cohort of individuals at early stages of the AD continuum, tau PET tracers [18F]PI-2620 and [18F]RO948 showed similar in-vivo uptake in all Braak regions and distinct off-target signal. These preliminary results support the development of standardized quantification scales for tau deposition that are tracer-independent. Trial registration: AEMPS EudraCT 2021–000473-83. Spinel ferrites exhibit significant promise in photocatalysis and other applications due to their compositional diversity and favourable electronic structure, magnetism, and partially tuneable cation distribution. However, their complex properties, for example, the different behaviour of bulk and nanostructured materials, are not well understood. Here, we combine advanced computational and experimental methods with reactivity measurements to explore the inversion degrees, electronic structures, and photocatalytic activities of MFe2O4 spinels (M = Co, Cu, Zn). X-ray diffraction and anomalous X-ray scattering measurements determined bulk inversion degrees of 0.81, 0.91, and 0.26 for CoFe2O4, CuFe2O4, and ZnFe2O4, respectively. Photocatalytic tests showed that only ZnFe2O4 is active in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), which correlates with its favourable band alignment, as determined through electronic structure simulations. Surface-sensitive X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) measurements provided insights into the cation distributions at the surfaces, showing significant deviations from bulk properties, particularly in ZnFe2O4 in which 52% of the near-surface tetrahedral sites are occupied by Fe cations, compared to 26% in the bulk. DFT simulations of ZnFe2O4 illustrated how the surface terminations can alter the thermodynamic preference for cation distribution in comparison with the bulk. Background: Deep endometriosis (DE) is a special form of endometriosis, one of the most common benign diseases in gynecology. In the specific case of DE, ectopic endometrium can be found not only in peritoneal but also in deeper tissue layers or even as parenchymal organ infiltration. Symptoms include dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, dyschezia, and dysuria, as well as asymptomatic hydronephrosis or other organ dysfunctions. Due to a pathogenesis of the disease that has not been conclusively clarified to date, no causal therapy exists, which is why surgical resection of DE is still the gold standard for symptomatic cases. Methods: This article retrospectively describes the challenges in diagnosis and surgical treatment of DE at a German Level III Endometriosis Center, with a focus on diagnosis and surgical treatment, as well as the analysis of perioperative and postoperative complications. Results: The surgical treatment of DE is performed in most cases by minimally invasive laparoscopy (94.1%), whereas complex procedures such as ureterolysis, adhesiolysis, or preparation of the rectovaginal septum are considered standard procedures as well. The complexity of the procedures is further underlined by a high need for interdisciplinary operations (28%). Despite high complexity, severe postoperative complications occurred in only 3.1% of surgeries, with the complication rate being significantly higher whenever bowel surgery was necessary for DE resection. Conclusions: Our results emphasize the complexity and interdisciplinary nature of the disease. Therefore, treatment should preferably take place at an endometriosis center of the highest level with experienced, well-coordinated teams. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
