With the growing use of artificial intelligence, search engine providers are increasingly pushing advertisers to use automated bidding strategies based on machine learning. Such automated decision‐making systems leave advertisers in the dark about the data being used and how they can influence the outcome of the decision‐making process. Previous literature on artificial intelligence lacks an understanding of the dangers related to artificially intelligent systems and their lack of transparency. In response, our paper addresses the inherent risks of the automated optimization of advertisers' bidding strategies in search engine advertising. The selected empirical case of a service company therefore demonstrates how data availability can trigger a long‐term decline in advertising performance and how search engine advertising performance metrics develop before and after an event of data scarcity. Based on data collected for 525 days, difference‐in‐differences analysis shows that the algorithmic approach has a considerable and lasting negative impact on advertising performance. Furthermore, the empirical case indicates that self‐regulated learning can initialize a downward spiral that gradually impairs advertising performance. Thus, the aim of this study is to increase awareness regarding automated decision‐making dangers in search engine advertising and help advertisers take preventive measures to reduce the risks of algorithm missteps. This paper explores the different insider employee-led cyber frauds (IECF) based on the recent large-scale fraud events of prominent Indian banking institutions. Examining the different types of fraud and appropriate control measures will protect the banking industry from fraudsters. In this study, we identify and classify Cyber Fraud (CF), map the severity of the fraud on a scale of priority, test the mitigation effectiveness, and propose optimal mitigation measures. The identification and classification of CF losses were based on a literature review and focus group discussions with risk and vigilance officers and cyber cell experts. The CF was analyzed using secondary data. We predicted and prioritized CF based on machine learning-derived Random Forest (RF). An efficient fraud mitigation model was developed based on an offender-victim-centric approach. Mitigation is advised both before and after fraud occurs. Through the findings of this research, banks and fraud investigators can prevent CF by detecting it quickly and controlling it on time. This study proposes a structured, sustainable CF mitigation plan that protects banks, employees, regulators, customers, and the economy, thus saving time, resources, and money. Nature-inspired algorithms have been developed and applied to solve a wide range of real-world optimization problems. Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm (AHA) is one of the recently introduced ones. The foraging and flight behaviors of hummingbirds inspire the mechanisms of the AHA. It has a simple structure and operates exploitation and exploration processes based on the visitation of hummingbirds, to find optimal solutions effectively with a few parameter settings. To the best of our knowledge, there has been no comprehensive and systematic review of the AHA, which is the objective of this paper. Researchers have demonstrated AHA's effectiveness in various applications, including antenna design, biomedical, networking, optimization, prediction and forecasting, scheduling, and power generation and controlling. Many studies have reported that the efficiency of AHA can be increased by modifying and hybridizing it with other algorithms. The most well-known problem that AHA has solved is the renewable energy issue. The AHA is also classified as a bio-inspired algorithm frequently used to compare performance. Although the AHA has been published recently and applied to many problems, there are limitations to some application areas, such as scheduling problems and robotics, security, fuzzy systems, data mining, and other interesting optimization problems. Background Music is an integral part of our lives and is often played in public places like restaurants. People exposed to music that contained alcohol-related lyrics in a bar scenario consumed significantly more alcohol than those exposed to music with less alcohol-related lyrics. Existing methods to quantify alcohol exposure in song lyrics have used manual annotation that is burdensome and time intensive. In this paper, we aim to build a deep learning algorithm (LYDIA) that can automatically detect and identify alcohol exposure and its context in song lyrics. Methods We identified 673 potentially alcohol-related words including brand names, urban slang, and beverage names. We collected all the lyrics from the Billboard's top-100 songs from 1959 to 2020 (N = 6110). We developed an annotation tool to annotate both the alcohol-relation of the word (alcohol, non-alcohol, or unsure) and the context (positive, negative, or neutral) of the word in the song lyrics. Results LYDIA achieved an accuracy of 86.6% in identifying the alcohol-relation of the word, and 72.9% in identifying its context. LYDIA can distinguish with an accuracy of 97.24% between the words that have positive and negative relation to alcohol; and with an accuracy of 98.37% between the positive and negative context. Conclusion LYDIA can automatically identify alcohol exposure and its context in song lyrics, which will allow for the swift analysis of future lyrics and can be used to help raise awareness about the amount of alcohol in music. Highlights Developed a deep learning algorithm (LYDIA) to identify alcohol words in songs. LYDIA achieved an accuracy of 86.6% in identifying alcohol-relation of the words. This paper presents a range of novel reinforcement learning algorithms derived from the actor–critic approach. These modified algorithms effectively utilize the available information to enhance performance. Our proposed framework introduces several key components to the traditional actor–critic model, including an underlying model learner, selector, tuner, and estimator. The estimator employs an approximate value function and the learned underlying model to estimate the values of all actions at the next state. The selector approximates the optimal action at the next state, which is then utilized by the actor to optimize its policy. In contrast to the conventional actor–critic algorithm where the actor focuses solely on policy optimization and the critic performs value-function approximation and policy evaluation, our selector–actor–critic algorithm employs a selector to approximate the optimal action at the current state, thereby influencing the actor's policy updates. Furthermore, our tuner–actor–critic algorithm incorporates a critic and a model-learner to approximate the action-value function and the dynamics of the underlying environment, respectively. The tuner then utilizes this information to adjust the value of the current state–action pair. In the estimator–selector–actor–critic algorithm, we develop intelligent agents based on the concepts of lookahead and intuition. Lookahead is utilized in estimating the values of available actions at the next state, while intuition guides the maximization of the probability of selecting the approximate optimal action. Through simulation experiments, we evaluate the performance of these algorithms, and the results demonstrate the superiority of the estimator–selector–actor–critic approach over other existing algorithms. The global surge in adolescent suicide necessitates the development of innovative and efficacious preventive measures. Traditionally, various approaches have been used, but with limited success. However, with the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), new possibilities have emerged. This paper reviews the potentials and challenges of integrating AI into suicide prevention strategies, focusing on adolescents. Method: This narrative review assesses the impact of AI on suicide prevention strategies, the strategies and cases of AI applications in adolescent suicide prevention, as well as the challenges faced. Through searches on the PubMed, web of science, PsycINFO, and EMBASE databases, 19 relevant articles were included in the review. Results: AI has significantly improved risk assessment and predictive modeling for identifying suicidal behavior. It has enabled the analysis of textual data through natural language processing and fostered novel intervention strategies. Although AI applications, such as chatbots and monitoring systems, show promise, they must navigate challenges like data privacy and ethical considerations. The research underscores the potential of AI to enhance future suicide prevention efforts through personalized interventions and integration with emerging technologies. Conclusion: AI possesses transformative potential for adolescent suicide prevention by offering targeted and adaptive solutions, while they also raise crucial ethical and practical considerations. In order to reduce carbon emissions and address global environmental concerns, the automobile industry has focused a great deal of attention on electric vehicles, or EVs. However, the performance and health of batteries can deteriorate over time, which can have a negative impact on the effectiveness of EVs. In order to improve the safety and reliability and efficiently optimize the performance of EVs, artificial intelligence (AI) approaches have received massive consideration in precise battery health diagnostics, fault analysis and thermal management. Therefore, this study analyzes and evaluates the role of AI approaches in enhancing the battery management system (BMS) in EVs. In line with that, an in-depth statistical analysis is carried out based on 78 highly relevant publications from 2014 to 2023 found in the Scopus database. The statistical analysis evaluates essential parameters such as current research trends, keyword evaluation, publishers, research classification, nation analysis, authorship, and collaboration. Moreover, state-of-the-art AI approaches are critically discussed with regard to targets, contributions, advantages, and disadvantages. Additionally, several significant problems and issues, as well as a number of crucial directives and recommendations, are provided for potential future development. Partitioning, in and of itself, is an NP-hard problem. Prior to the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solutions, it was solved in the 1970s by optimization-based strategies. However, AI-based solutions appeared in the 1980s in a pioneering way, by using a Learning Automaton (LA)-motivated strategy known as the so-called Object Migrating Automaton (OMA). Although the OMA and its derivatives have been used in numerous applications since then, the basic kernel has remained the same. Because the number of possible partitions in a partitioning problem can be combinatorially exponential and the underlying tasks are NP-hard, the most advanced OMA algorithms could, until recently, only solve issues involving equally sized groups. Due to our recent innovations cited in the body of this paper, the enhanced OMA now also handles non-equally sized groups. Earlier, we had presented in Omslandseter (Pattern Anal Appl, 2023), a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art enhancements of the best-known OMA. We believe that these results will be the benchmark for a few decades and that it will be very hard to beat these results. This is a companion paper, intended to augment the contents of Omslandseter (Pattern Anal Appl, 2023). In this paper, we first discuss the OMA's prior applications, its historical and current innovations, and the OMA-based algorithms' relevance to societal needs. With the continued development of artificial intelligence technology, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) have attracted the attention of countless domestic and international specialists and academics. In particular, path planning is a core technique for the autonomy and intelligence process of USVs. The current literature reviews on USV path planning focus on the latest global and local path optimization algorithms. Almost all algorithms are optimized by concerning metrics such as path length, smoothness, and convergence speed. However, they also simulate environmental conditions at sea and do not consider the effects of sea factors, such as wind, waves, and currents. Therefore, this paper reviews the current algorithms and latest research results of USV path planning in terms of global path planning, local path planning, hazard avoidance with an approximate response, and path planning under clustering. Then, by classifying USV path planning, the advantages and disadvantages of different research methods and the entry points for improving various algorithms are summarized. Among them, the papers which use kinematic and dynamical equations to consider the ship's trajectory motion planning for actual sea environments are reviewed. Faced with multiple moving obstacles, the literature related to multi-objective task assignment methods for path planning of USV swarms is reviewed. Therefore, the main contribution of this work is that it broadens the horizon of USV path planning and proposes future directions and research priorities for USV path planning based on existing technologies and trends. AI technology is capturing the African imaginations as a gateway to progress and prosperity. There is a growing interest in AI by different actors across the continent including scientists, researchers, humanitarian and aid organizations, academic institutions, tech start-ups, and media organizations. Several African states are looking to adopt AI technology to capture economic growth and development opportunities. On the other hand, African researchers highlight the gap in regulatory frameworks and policies that govern the development of AI in the continent. They argue that this could lead to AI technology exacerbating problems of inequalities and injustice in the continent. However, most of the literature on AI ethics is biased toward Euro-American perspectives and lack the understanding of how AI development is apprehended in the Global South, and particularly Africa. Drawing on the case study of the first African Master's in Machine Intelligence program, this paper argues for looking beyond the question of ethics in AI and examining AI governance issues through the analytical lens of the raciality of computing and the political economy of technoscience to understand AI development in Africa. By doing so, this paper seeks a different theorization for AI ethics from the South that is based on lived experiences of those in the margins and avoids the framings of technological futures that simplistically pathologize or celebrate Africa. Statistical machine learning usually achieves high-accuracy models by employing tens of thousands of examples. By contrast, both children and adult humans typically learn new concepts from either one or a small number of instances. The high data efficiency of human learning is not easily explained in terms of standard formal frameworks for machine learning, including Gold's learning-in-the-limit framework and Valiant's probably approximately correct (PAC) model. This paper explores ways in which this apparent disparity between human and machine learning can be reconciled by considering algorithms involving a preference for specificity combined with program minimality. It is shown how this can be efficiently enacted using hierarchical search based on identification of certificates and push-down automata to support hypothesizing compactly expressed maximal efficiency algorithms. Early results of a new system called DeepLog indicate that such approaches can support efficient top-down construction of relatively complex logic programs from a single example. However, donor recruitment and retention pose significant challenges to the sustainability of blood banks. The system leverages machine learning algorithms to analyze historical donor data, demographic information, and external factors to predict donor behavior and identify potential strategies for improving recruitment and retention. By incorporating AI into decision-making processes, blood banks can make data-driven decisions, enhance the efficiency of donor management, and allocate resources effectively. Digital Image Processing has dominated Digital Signal Processing at the cost of more memory, resources, and high computational power. In image processing, filtering transformations and other operations need complex multiplications, and the multiplier is one of the most resources consuming elements. Recently, mitigating the multiplier complexity in the digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms sigma-delta modulation based general purpose and adaptive DSP algorithms are developed in MATLAB and compared with its counterpart multibit algorithms for functionality and area-performance-power in FPGA. The contemporary multiplier algorithms are also optimized to overcome the multiplier complexity challenge as computation becomes simple and fast. This paper extends the reported work by investigating the sigma-delta modulation approaches for developing a computationally efficient low-power image processing algorithm. The proposed model is designed, developed, and simulated in MATLAB. The simulation results are analyzed using SNR, MSE, and Peak SNR. Chat generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT) is a chatbot developed by OpenAI that answers questions in a human-like manner. ChatGPT is a GPT language model that understands and responds to natural language created using a transformer, which is a new artificial neural network algorithm first introduced by Google in 2017. ChatGPT can be used to identify research topics and proofread English writing and R scripts to improve work efficiency and optimize time. Attempts to actively utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) are expected to continue in clinical settings. However, ChatGPT still has many limitations for widespread use in clinical research, owing to AI hallucination symptoms and its training data constraints. Researchers recommend avoiding scientific writing using ChatGPT in many traditional journals because of the current lack of originality guidelines and plagiarism of content generated by ChatGPT. Today is the era of ultra-age technology and practices for the betterment of the society. Drone is the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which needs a path planning to reach up to the target. There are two basic modes for use of drone in case of military/surveillance: first is attack mode and defensive mode. Hence, this paper focuses on defensive mode as a scope of the proposed study. This paper provides significance of drone surveillance, a new artificial intelligence strategy to develop a predictive model based on the path planning. Further, based on the drone dataset, the UAV travel graph can be predicted and tested with a recursive machine learning algorithm. This strategy can be clubbed as an image path using deep learning algorithm also but to ensure the graph-based training and testing, the proposed research will use CNN algorithm for comparative analysis of simulated path's plan coordinates. In RSSI-based indoor visible light positioning systems, when only RSSI is used for trilateral positioning, the receiver height needs to be known to calculate distance. Meanwhile, the positioning accuracy is greatly affected by multi-path effect interference, with the influence of the multi-path effect varying across different areas of the room. If only one single processing is used for positioning, the positioning error in the edge area will increase sharply. In order to address these problems, this paper proposes a new positioning scheme, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms for point classification. Firstly, height estimation is performed according to the received power data structure from different LEDs, which effectively extends the traditional RSSI trilateral positioning from 2D to 3D. The location points in the room are then divided into three categories: ordinary points, edge points and blind points, and corresponding models are used to process different types of points, respectively, to reduce the influence of the multi-path effect. Next, processed received power data are used in the trilateral positioning method for calculating the location point coordinates, and to reduce the room edge corner positioning error, so as to reduce the indoor average positioning error. Finally, a complete system is built in an experimental simulation to verify the effectiveness of the proposed schemes, which are shown to achieve centimeter-level positioning accuracy. Machine learning and deep learning are two subsets of artificial intelligence that involve teaching computers to learn and make decisions from any sort of data. Most recent developments in artificial intelligence are coming from deep learning, which has proven revolutionary in almost all fields, from computer vision to health sciences. The effects of deep learning in medicine have changed the conventional ways of clinical application significantly. Although some sub-fields of medicine, such as pediatrics, have been relatively slow in receiving the critical benefits of deep learning, related research in pediatrics has started to accumulate to a significant level, too. Hence, in this paper, we review recently developed machine learning and deep learning-based solutions for neonatology applications. We systematically evaluate the roles of both classical machine learning and deep learning in neonatology applications, define the methodologies, including algorithmic developments, and describe the remaining challenges in the assessment of neonatal diseases by using PRISMA 2020 guidelines. To date, the primary areas of focus in neonatology regarding AI applications have included survival analysis, neuroimaging, analysis of vital parameters and biosignals, and retinopathy of prematurity diagnosis. We have categorically summarized 106 research articles from 1996 to 2022 and discussed their pros and cons, respectively. In this systematic review, we aimed to further enhance the comprehensiveness of the study. We also discuss possible directions for new AI models and the future of neonatology with the rising power of AI, suggesting roadmaps for the integration of AI into neonatal intensive care units. Background: Allocation of scarce organs for transplantation is ethically challenging. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been proposed to assist in liver allocation, however the ethics of this remains unexplored and the view of the public unknown. The aim of this paper was to assess public attitudes on whether AI should be used in liver allocation and how it should be implemented. Methods: We first introduce some potential ethical issues concerning AI in liver allocation, before analysing a pilot survey including online responses from 172 UK laypeople, recruited through Prolific Academic. Findings: Most participants found AI in liver allocation acceptable (69.2%) and would not be less likely to donate their organs if AI was used in allocation (72.7%). Respondents thought AI was more likely to be consistent and less biased compared to humans, although were concerned about the "dehumanisation of healthcare" and whether AI could consider important nuances in allocation decisions. Participants valued accuracy, impartiality, and consistency in a decision-maker, more than interpretability and empathy. Respondents were split on whether AI should be trained on previous decisions or programmed with specific objectives. Whether allocation decisions were made by transplant committee or AI, participants valued consideration of urgency, survival likelihood, life years gained, age, future medication compliance, quality of life, future alcohol use and past alcohol use. On the other hand, the majority thought the following factors were not relevant to prioritisation: past crime, future crime, future societal contribution, social disadvantage, and gender. Conclusions: There are good reasons to use AI in liver allocation, and our sample of participants appeared to support its use. If confirmed, this support would give democratic legitimacy to the use of AI in this context and reduce the risk that donation rates could be affected negatively. Our findings on specific ethical concerns also identify potential expectations and reservations laypeople have regarding AI in this area, which can inform how AI in liver allocation could be best implemented. Despite the rapid adoption of technology in human resource departments, there is little empirical work that examines the potential challenges of algorithmic decision-making in the recruitment process. In this paper, we take the perspective of job applicants and examine how they perceive the use of algorithms in selection and recruitment. Across four studies on Amazon Mechanical Turk, we show that people in the role of a job applicant perceive algorithm-driven recruitment processes as less fair compared to human only or algorithm-assisted human processes. This effect persists regardless of whether the outcome is favorable to the applicant or not. A potential mechanism underlying algorithm resistance is the belief that algorithms will not be able to recognize their uniqueness as a candidate. Although the use of algorithms has several benefits for organizations such as improved efficiency and bias reduction, our results highlight a potential cost of using them to screen potential employees during recruitment. In recent times, there has been considerable focus on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for medical image analysis and healthcare purposes. In this study, we introduce CADFU (Computer-Aided Diagnosis System for Foot Ulcers), a pioneering diabetic foot ulcer diagnosis system. The primary objective of CADFU is to detect and segment ulcers and similar chronic wounds in medical images. To achieve this, we employ two distinct algorithms. Firstly, DHuNeT, an innovative Dual-Phase Hyperactive UNet, is utilized for the segmentation task. Second, we used YOLOv8 for the task of detecting wounds. The DHuNeT autoencoder, employed for the wound segmentation task, is the paper's primary and most significant contribution. DHuNeT is the combination of sequentially stacking two UNet autoencoders. The hyperactive information transmission from the first UNet to the second UNet is the key idea of DHuNeT. The first UNet feeds the second UNet the features it has learned, and the two UNets combine their learned features to create new, more accurate, and effective features. We achieve good performance measures, especially in terms of the Dice co-efficient and precision, with segmentation scores of 85% and 92.6%, respectively. We obtain a mean average precision (mAP) of 86% in the detection task. Facility Management is a multi-disciplinary task in which coordination is key to attaining success during the building life cycle and for which technology assumes an increasing role. This sector is demanding more available and accurate tools to optimize the management process, decrease the probability of failure, and reduce the time spent on anomaly analysis. So, the present paper presents work developed to improve access to building anomaly recognition and to predict the building degradation state in an automatized way. The methodology applied to achieve this goal started with a survey and digital data acquisition from a case study, followed by the automatized detection of building anomalies using supervised classification in Deep Learning; then, the early diagnosis of threatening conditions for building degradation took place using degradation curves based on data records and regression algorithms. The results drive this study a step forward toward obtaining advanced tools for Facility Management based in Artificial Intelligence, able to provide the most appropriate moment at which to intervene according to the cost-benefit. The present work provided better results on the harmonic mean of precision and recall when compared with previous studies of image classification for the construction sector. The development of artificial intelligence technology provides a new model for substation inspection in the power industry, and effective defect diagnosis can avoid the impact of substation equipment defects on the power grid and improve the reliability and stability of power grid operation. Aiming to combat the problem of poor recognition of small targets due to large differences in equipment morphology in complex substation scenarios, a visual fault detection algorithm of substation equipment based on improved YOLOv5 is proposed. Firstly, a deformable convolution module is introduced into the backbone network to achieve adaptive learning of scale and receptive field size. Secondly, in the neck of the network, a simple and effective BiFPN structure is used instead of PANet. The multi-level feature combination of the network is adjusted by a floating adaptive weighted fusion strategy. Lastly, an additional small object detection layer is added to detect shallower feature maps. Experimental results demonstrate that the improved algorithm effectively enhances the performance of power equipment and defect recognition. The integration of artificial intelligence with steel manufacturing operations holds great potential for enhancing factory efficiency. Object detection algorithms, as a category within the field of artificial intelligence, have been widely adopted for steel defect detection purposes. However, mainstream object detection algorithms often exhibit a low detection accuracy and high false-negative rates when it comes to detecting small and subtle defects in steel materials. In order to enhance the production efficiency of steel factories, one approach could be the development of a novel object detection algorithm to improve the accuracy and speed of defect detection in these facilities. This paper proposes an improved algorithm based on the YOLOv5s-7.0 version, called YOLOv5s-7.0-FCC. YOLOv5s-7.0-FCC integrates the basic operator C3-Faster (C3F) into the C3 module. Its special T-shaped structure reduces the redundant calculation of channel features, increases the attention weight on the central content, and improves the algorithm's computational speed and feature extraction capability. Furthermore, the spatial pyramid pooling-fast (SPPF) structure is replaced by the Content Augmentation Module (CAM), which enriches the image feature content with different convolution rates to simulate the way humans observe things, resulting in enhanced feature information transfer during the process. Lastly, the upsampling operator Content-Aware ReAssembly of Features (CARAFE) replaces the "nearest" method, transforming the receptive field size based on the difference in feature information. The three modules that act on feature information are distributed reasonably in YOLOv5s-7.0, reducing the loss of feature information during the convolution process. The results show that compared to the original YOLOv5 model, YOLOv5s-7.0-FCC increases the mean average precision (mAP) from 73.1% to 79.5%, achieving a 6.4% improvement. Simple Summary: Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer worldwide. Early detection of melanoma is crucial for better outcomes, but this often can be challenging. Recent innovations in artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques for skin lesion image interpretation show potential for the use of AI in the early detection of melanoma. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current state of AI-based techniques used in combination with non-invasive diagnostic imaging modalities including reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and dermoscopy. We also aimed to determine whether the application of AI-based techniques can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy of melanoma. Methods: A systematic search was conducted via the Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases for eligible publications between 2018 and 2022. Screening methods adhered to the 2020 version of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Included studies utilized AI-based algorithms for melanoma detection and directly addressed the review objectives. Results: We retrieved 40 papers amongst the three databases. All studies directly comparing the performance of AI-based techniques with dermatologists reported the superior or equivalent performance of AI-based techniques in improving the detection of melanoma. In studies directly comparing algorithm performance on dermoscopy images to dermatologists, AI-based algorithms achieved a higher ROC (>80%) in the detection of melanoma. In these comparative studies using dermoscopic images, the mean algorithm sensitivity was 83.01% and the mean algorithm specificity was 85.58%. Studies evaluating machine learning in conjunction with OCT boasted accuracy of 95%, while studies evaluating RCM reported a mean accuracy rate of 82.72%. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the robust potential of AI-based techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through the early identification of melanoma. Further studies are needed to assess the generalizability of these AI-based techniques across different populations and skin types, improve standardization in image processing, and further compare the performance of AI-based techniques with board-certified dermatologists to evaluate clinical applicability. Recently, higher structure complicacy and performance requirements of the aero-engine have brought higher demands on its control system. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the intelligent controller with self-learning ability will be able to make a great difference. In the paper, we propose an aero-engine intelligent controller design method based on twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient (TD3) algorithm. The design method allows the intelligent controller to interact autonomously with the aero-engine system to acquire the optimal control sequence. The JT9D turbofan engine is used to introduce the controller design workflow proposed in the paper. First, the problem of aero-engine control is described as a Markov decision process for deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms. Second, a complete intelligent controller design process is constructed by reasonably designing the network structures and reward function. Finally, the comparison simulations are carried out to verify the superior performance of the controller design methods. The simulation results indicate that low-pressure turbine speed has no overshoot, and the settling time does not exceed 0.88s during the engine acceleration process. In the deceleration process, the overshoot of the low-pressure turbine speed is limited to 0.74% and the settling time does not exceed about 0.6s. The results prove that the TD3 controller outperforms deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) and the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) in the speed tracking control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since 2000, there have been more than 8000 publications on radiology artificial intelligence (AI). AI breakthroughs allow complex tasks to be automated and even performed beyond human capabilities. However, the lack of details on the methods and algorithm code undercuts its scientific value. Many science subfields have recently faced a reproducibility crisis, eroding trust in processes and results, and influencing the rise in retractions of scientific papers. For the same reasons, conducting research in deep learning (DL) also requires reproducibility. Although several valuable manuscript checklists for AI in medical imaging exist, they are not focused specifically on reproducibility. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of recently published papers in the field of DL to evaluate if the description of their methodology could allow the reproducibility of their findings. We focused on the Journal of Digital Imaging (JDI), a specialized journal that publishes papers on AI and medical imaging. We used the keyword "Deep Learning" and collected the articles published between January 2020 and January 2022. We screened all the articles and included the ones which reported the development of a DL tool in medical imaging. We extracted the reported details about the dataset, data handling steps, data splitting, model details, and performance metrics of each included article. We found 148 articles. Eighty were included after screening for articles that reported developing a DL model for medical image analysis. Five studies have made their code publicly available, and 35 studies have utilized publicly available datasets. We provided figures to show the ratio and absolute count of reported items from included studies. According to our cross-sectional study, in JDI publications on DL in medical imaging, authors infrequently report the key elements of their study to make it reproducible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is a concerted effort to build intelligent sea and numerous artificial intelligence technologies have been explored. At present, more and more people are engaged in the research of deep reinforcement learning algorithm, and its mainstream application is in the field of games. Reinforcement learning has conquered chess belonging to complete information game, and Texas poker belonging to incomplete information games. And it reached or even surpassed the highest player level of mankind in E-sports games with huge state space and complex action space. However, reinforcement learning algorithm still has great challenges in fields such as automatic driving. The main reason is that the training of reinforcement learning needs to build an environment for interacting with agents. However, it is very difficult to construct realistic simulation scenes, and there is no guarantee that we will not encounter the state that the agent has not seen. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the simulation scene first. Based on this, this paper mainly studies reinforcement learning in simulation scenario. There are huge challenges in migrating them to real scenario applications, especially in sea missions. Aiming at the heterogeneous multi-agent game confrontation scenario, this paper proposes a sea battlefield game confrontation decision algorithm based on multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient. The algorithm combines long short-term memory and actor-critic, which not only realizes the convergence of the algorithm in huge state space and action space, but also solves the problem of sparse real rewards. At the same time, imitation learning is integrated into the decision algorithm, which not only improves the convergence speed of the algorithm, but also greatly improves the effectiveness of the algorithm. The results show that the algorithm can deal with a variety of different tactical sea battlefield scenarios, make flexible decisions according to the changes of the enemy, and the average winning rate is close to 90%. This paper explores the problem of formalizing the development of autonomous artificial intelligence systems (AAIS), whose mathematical models may be complex or non-identifiable. Using the value-iterations method for Q-functions of rewards, a methodology for constructing of ε-optimal strategies with a given accuracy has been developed. The results allow us to outline classes (including dual-use), for which it is possible to rigorously justify the construction of optimal and ε-optimal strategies even in cases where the models are identifiable but the computational complexity of standard dynamic programming algorithms may not be strictly polynomial. Artificial intelligence (AI) has made rapid progress in recent years, but as the complexity of AI models and the need to deploy them on multiple platforms gradually increases, the design of network model structures for specific platforms becomes more difficult. A neural network architecture search (NAS) serves as a solution to help experts discover new network structures that are suitable for different tasks and platforms. However, traditional NAS algorithms often consume time and many computational resources, especially when dealing with complex tasks and large-scale models, and the search process can become exceptionally time-consuming and difficult to interpret. In this paper, we propose a class activation graph-based neural structure search method (CAM-NAS) to address these problems. Compared with traditional NAS algorithms, CAM-NAS does not require full training of submodels, which greatly improves the search efficiency. Meanwhile, CAM-NAS uses the class activation graph technique, which makes the searched models have better interpretability. In our experiments, we tested CAM-NAS on an NVIDIA RTX 3090 graphics card and showed that it can evaluate a submodel in only 0.08 seconds, which is much faster than traditional NAS methods. In this study, we experimentally evaluated CAM-NAS using the CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100 datasets as benchmarks. The experimental results show that CAM-NAS achieves very good results. In recent years, the rapid development of artificial intelligence algorithms has promoted the intelligent transformation of the ship industry; unmanned surface vessels (USVs) have become a widely used representative product. The dynamic window approach (DWA) is an effective robotic collision avoidance algorithm; however, there are deficiencies in its application to the ship field. First, the DWA algorithm does not consider International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs), which must be met for ship collision avoidance to ensure the navigational safety of the USV and other ships. Second, the DWA algorithm does not consider the influence of wind and waves on the collision avoidance of USVs in actual navigational environments. Reasonable use of windy and wavy environments not only improves navigational safety but also saves navigational time and fuel consumption, thereby improving the economy. Therefore, this paper proposes an improvement algorithm by DWA referred to as utility DWA (UDWA) based on COLREGs considering the sailing environment. The velocity sampling area was improved by dividing the priority, and the velocity function in the objective function was enhanced to convert the effect of wind and waves on the USVs into a change in velocity. The simulation results showed that the UDWA algorithm optimized the distance to the obstacle ship by 43.25%, 31.36%, and 67.81% in a head-on situation, crossing situation, and overtaking situation, respectively, compared to the COLREGs-compliant DWA algorithm, which considers the COLREGs. The improved algorithm not only follows the COLREGs but also has better flexibility in emergency collision avoidance and can safely and economically navigate and complete collision avoidance in windy and wavy environments. In this paper, the application of transportation systems in realtime traffic conditions is evaluated with data handling representations. The proposed method is designed in such a way as to detect the number of loads that are present in a vehicle where functionality tasks are computed in the system. Compared to the existing approach, the design model in the proposed method is made by dividing the computing areas into several cluster regions, thereby reducing the complex monitoring system where control errors are minimized. Furthermore, a route management technique is combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm to transmit the data to appropriate central servers. Therefore, the combined objective case studies are examined as minimization and maximization criteria, thus increasing the efficiency of the proposed method. Finally, four scenarios are chosen to investigate the projected design’s effectiveness. Artificial intelligence is an enabling technology for autonomous surface vehicles, with methods such as evolutionary algorithms, artificial potential fields, fast marching methods, and many others becoming increasingly popular for solving problems such as path planning and collision avoidance. However, there currently is no unified way to evaluate the performance of different algorithms, for example with regard to safety or risk. This paper is a step in that direction and offers a comparative study of current state-of-the art path planning and collision avoidance algorithms for autonomous surface vehicles. Across 45 selected papers, we compare important performance properties of the proposed algorithms related to the vessel and the environment it is operating in. We also analyse how safety is incorporated, and what components constitute the objective function in these algorithms. Finally, we focus on comparing advantages and limitations of the 45 analysed papers. With the wave of artificial intelligence and deep learning sweeping the world, there are many algorithms based on deep learning for image defog research. However, there is still serious color distortion, contrast reduction, incomplete fog removal, and other problems. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an improved image defogging network based on the traditional cycle-consistent adversarial network. We add the self-attention module and atrous convolution multi-scale feature fusion module on the basis of the traditional CycleGAN network to enhance the feature extraction capability of the network. The perceptual loss function is introduced into the loss function of the model to enhance the texture sense of the generated image. Finally, by comparing several typical defogging algorithms, the superiority of the defogging model proposed in this paper is proved qualitatively and quantitatively. Among them, on the indoor synthetic data set, the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Measurement (SSIM) of the network designed by us can reach 23.22 and 0.8809, respectively. On the outdoor synthetic data set, the PSNR and SSIM of our designed network can be as high as 25.72 and 0.8859, respectively. On the real data set, the PSNR and SSIM of our designed network can reach 21.02 and 0.8166, respectively. Navigation and positioning is a new growth point of wireless services. And seamless positioning is the current development trend of navigation and positioning services. In view of the problems that dynamic handover cannot be performed during site movement, STA only selects the optimal AP according to the indication of received signal strength, and the handover delay is too long. This paper proposes a research on indoor and outdoor seamless positioning technology based on artificial intelligence and intelligent switching algorithm. The purpose is to study the influence of reducing the positioning data with too large error on the final positioning result. The method of this paper is to propose an intelligent switching algorithm and then discuss the research status and development direction of indoor positioning technology and outdoor positioning technology, respectively, and point out the switching methods between them. The role of these methods is to analyze the current situation of indoor and outdoor navigation technology, especially the development route of seamless positioning technology. It determines the strategy of integrating heterogeneous positioning systems to build a seamless positioning system to maximize the use of existing positioning system resources. This paper studies the design and implementation of the seamless positioning system through the simulation experiment of the intelligent switching algorithm and finally tests the system through the experimental vehicle. The online experiment results show that the system can achieve high positioning accuracy in indoor and outdoor environments, especially at its junction, and the positioning errors in all directions are within 0.2 m. [Purpose] How to prevent fake news without spoiling the freedom of speech is a growing concern among governments across the world. Some countries see legislation as being the best approach to counter fake news. In the legislation proposals, accountability is mostly placed on technology companies, but also individuals seem to have responsibility in the legislation of some countries. Some other governments see non-legislative means to counter fake news. But it's a fact that countering fake news without compromising free speech is a high priority across governments in the world and a challenging task too. This paper investigates the India scenario and tries to list out other than legislation what other measures are required. [Methodology] This paper takes a survey of mitigation efforts in select countries. This survey is used to testify against similar efforts in India, if any and adopts comparative approach to understand where Indian efforts stand at. [Findings] From using fact-checking tools available online, finding the source, locating how many people viewed a particular story to check grammar and spelling, and developing a critical mindset; plenty of things become a critical means in fighting down fake news. Legislation alone is insufficient. Media literacy, public scrutiny, good citizenship, and education along with sensitive civil society require playing its significant part in India to fight fake news. In India, the policy is vague.
