We successfully developed an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method for making Ag noble nanoparticles on cheap, commercial filter paper consisting of three-dimensional porous glass fibers and investigated the evolution of Ag nanostructures with some key process parameters. By tuning Ag particle sizes and controlling the cycle numbers of ALD deposited Ag films, we were able to obtain high-density isolated Ag nanoparticles with average sizes in 3–9 nm without the formation of agglomerates and continuous Ag films. We proved the presence of strong localized surface plasmon resonance peaks near a target wavelength of 632 nm. We further proved the presence of surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals on the Ag coated filter paper substrates using pyridine as the test analyte. Our results demonstrate that ALD is a very promising technique for a rational design of SERS substrates and, thus, has great potential for the fabrication of large-area, low-cost SERS substrates for future commercial applications, as compared to other existing techniques. Partial Discharges (PDs) are a significant factor in reducing the insulation life of traction transformers. In recent years, the Acoustic Emission (AE) method has become the most advanced method for detecting PD signals in transformers. The AE method utilizes AE sensors placed on the transformer tank to detect ultrasonic signals emitted by PD and determine the Time Of Arrival (TOA) of the head wave. The windings and cores of a traction transformer consist mainly of metal, which greatly affects the propagation of PD ultrasonic waves. This paper establishes a 110 kV "pressure acoustic, transient" physical field model of the traction transformer with dimensions of 4.63 × 1.48 × 2.84 m3. The model is used to carry out the PD pressure acoustic physical field simulation study of the traction transformer, to clarify the physical characteristics of the ultrasound of the PD defects, and to establish observation points on the transformer tanks to receive ultrasonic time-domain waveforms for PD detection. The simulation results indicate that PD ultrasonic waves exhibit complex propagation characteristics, including reflection, refraction, and reverberation, as they pass through the windings and cores to the observation points. The TOA of the head wave in the ultrasound time-domain waveform is indicated by the first maximum value of the wave crest line. Finally, this paper proposes a multi-level localization method based on the AE method to determine which winding generates the PD in the large-scale traction transformer using only four dynamically moving observation points. The regular operation of transformers is significantly impacted by the insulation effectiveness of the transformer insulation oil–paper. In order to explore the mechanism of the influence of an electric field on the thermal decomposition performance of insulating oil–paper, this paper simulated the process of electrothermal coupling decomposition of insulating oil–paper from the micro-level based on molecular dynamics. It was determined that the insulating oil is made up of three 16-carbon hydrocarbon molecules, while the insulating paper is made up of 30 fibrous disaccharide molecules. Using the molecular dynamics simulation approach, the pyrolysis of the insulating oil and insulating paper under various electric field strengths was simulated, and the lysis of reactants and the distribution of products were statistically examined. This paper also studied how the electric field affected the microscopic process of the insulating oil–paper pyrolysis. The findings demonstrate that under the influence of electrothermal coupling, the big molecules of the insulating oil and insulating paper are pyrolyzed to produce a variety of tiny molecules. For the insulating oil, it is easily subject to electron displacement polarization under the influence of an external electric field since it contains non-polar molecules, especially impacted by an electric field of 100 V/m. For the insulating paper, its polar nature, on the other hand, makes itself a good candidate for guiding polarization when exposed to an external electric field. We report a liquid metal microstrip antenna on a printing paper whose resonant frequency was tunable by folding the paper. The gallium-based alloy was used as liquid metal, which is instantly oxidized in ambient air. The oxidized liquid metal is easily wettable on printing paper surfaces, while it is non-wettable on laser-printed toner surfaces. An antenna with a 3 mm wide and 39 mm long copper-liquid metal overlapped-feedline linked to the liquid metal microstrip rectangle-shaped patch (40 × 31 mm2) was designed. The antenna pattern was printed on a printing paper using a laser printer. A liquid metal soaked roller was rolled on the antenna pattern printed paper, resulting in a liquid metal pattern where there was no toner. The resonant frequency of the liquid metal on the paper microstrip patch antenna was 2.88 GHz with −18.5 dB S11. The measured characteristics of the antenna were in good agreement with the simulation results. When the antenna was folded, the resonant frequency was changed to 2.68 GHz (x-axis folding) or 2.72 GHz (y-axis folding). Solvent-pumped evaporation-driven concentration of an initial distribution of solutes on a porous substrate is considered in one and two dimensions. Approximate analytic solutions to the isotropic advection–dispersion equations are first found for a Gaussian kernel and an infinite domain, following the smoothed particle approximation. Analytic solutions for more general initial distributions are then found as sums of Gaussians, and comparison is made with numerical solutions. In each case, initial distributions are advected toward the stagnation point and concentrated. Two-dimensional analysis is then extended to describe anisotropy in permeability and diffusion, and hydrodynamic dispersion. Radial-flow experiments are performed using filter papers and water-soluble dyes. Diffusion coefficients, temperature and humidity profiles, and the evolution of spot distributions are measured. The results confirm minor anisotropy in permeability and diffusion, limited hydrodynamic dispersion, and largely uniform evaporation. Péclet numbers over 2500 are demonstrated. Evaporation-driven concentration provides a mechanism for solute transport over long timescales. The parameter of tensile strength for transformer bushing insulating paper occupies an important position in the structural design and life evaluation of transformer bushing. In order to precisely achieve the effect of aging time and moisture content on the tensile strength of transformer bushing paper, transformer insulating paper samples with a thickness of 0.13 mm were prepared for tensile strength and dielectric strength testing under different moisture contents and aging states. The results show that the tensile strength (MPa) of insulating paper decreases linearly in the range of 0–648 h under accelerated thermal aging at 130 °C. However, there is a more serious exponential decline in the tensile strength (MPa) of insulation paper with its moisture content is boosted. The moisture content in insulation paper is the most important factor for insulation paper deterioration in oil-impregnated paper insulation equipment, which could accelerate the end of insulation service life. The value of capacitance increment ΔC of the insulation paper samples displayed closely linear growth with a moisture content from 0.5% to 5.9%. As an important high-voltage electrical equipment in the substation, the performance stability of high-voltage current transformers is directly related to the safe operation of the power grid. The insulating medium of the traditional oil-immersed current transformer is an oil-immersed paper structure. When the oil-immersed current transformer malfunctions, it is easy to cause fire and explosion, resulting in very serious consequences. If the transformer with the epoxy resin impregnated paper insulation medium is used, there is no oil and gas inside; thus, it has high reliability, which greatly reduces the risk of fire and explosion. Based on this, considering the application research on the high-voltage current transformers epoxy resin impregnated paper technology, this paper mainly analyzes some precautions for the application of epoxy resin impregnated paper technology to the high-voltage current transformers from three aspects: the research on the insulation performance of the epoxy resin impregnated paper transformers, the research on the mechanical properties, and the research on the relevant experimental methods of the epoxy resin impregnated paper technology application to the high-voltage current transformers. Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS) is widely used to estimate oil–paper insulation. The high moisture and long aging change the FDS characteristics of the insulating oil–paper, so normalization processing is required. Still, the choice of single activation energy needs further research. This paper studies the FDS characteristic of oil–paper insulation samples with different moisture and aging degrees and improves the traditional temperature correction method. The enhanced Arrhenius model uses the segmented activation energy to make the normalized FDS curve coincide better with the target curve, and the error is reduced. In addition, to verify the method's effectiveness, this paper proposes an iterative correction process. It corrects the tan δ-f curve of the bushing with an aging time of 800 h based on segmented activation energy, and the overall normalization effect is improved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Paper-based evaporation concentrators with linear and radial geometries are compared. A new method of finding approximate analytic solutions of the advection–dispersion equation is proposed, based on the behavior of concentrators with infinite sources. Analytic approximations are compared with numerical solutions, and the advantage of radial concentration is highlighted: linear concentration rates scale with the square root of the Péclet number Pe while radial rates scale with Pe itself, leading to faster radial concentration beyond a critical value. Experiments are performed with Brilliant Blue FCF dye, using optical transmission and the Beer–Lambert law for quantitation. Dye concentrations are chosen for operation in the linear absorbance regime. Radial concentration is demonstrated under ambient conditions on filter paper disks with 60 mm diameter evaporation areas fed from a perimeter source, in a reverse of the well-known "coffee stain" experiment. Airflow enhanced concentration in strips and wedges is compared directly, using laser-patterned chromatography paper. The advantage of radial concentration is confirmed (and enhanced by diversion of concentrate to the corners of strips) and concentration factors greater than ∼ 500 (the dynamic range of measurement) are obtained in ∼2 h using 30 mm long columns. In this paper, we use tracked vehicles as an example to study complex systems and surrogate model building method. Due to the high cost and long development cycle associated with the traditional development approach, involving static design and experimental verification, there is an urgent need to explore an effective dynamic optimization design method to enhance vibration reduction performance. This paper introduces a methodology for constructing a model of complex equipment surrogate, aimed at streamlining subsequent parameter optimization processes. The dynamics model of the tracked vehicle is utilized, and the root-mean-square value of plumb vertical acceleration at the center of mass is selected as the dynamic performance index. The impact of structure parameters on dynamic performance is analyzed, and a range of design parameters are determined. The optimal Latin hypercube experimental design method is employed to generate sample data. A radial basis function neural network, optimized by particle swarm optimization, is used to construct a dynamic surrogate model for the tracked vehicle. The surrogate model constructed in this paper greatly reduces the time cost in optimizing complex equipment parameters. In the past, parameter optimization required conducting numerous simulations to collect data, with each simulation taking about 700 s. However, the surrogate model introduced in this paper only requires ∼100 s for completion. This significant reduction in time not only saves costs but also maintains a high level of accuracy. Wideband radio frequency (RF) channelization is essential for the reception and detection of cross-band RF signals in various applications, including communications, radar, and spectrum sensing. However, digital channelizers are inefficient at performing RF channelization over a working bandwidth above 10 GHz. Meanwhile, current photonic RF channelizers face challenges in simultaneously considering a wideband, multi-channel, and a high crosstalk suppression ratio. In this work, we proposed and demonstrated a wideband image-reject RF channelization scheme based on integrated dual-soliton microcombs. The dual-soliton microcombs are used for RF spectral copies and heterodyne detection, respectively. Supported by image-reject mixers, the RF channelization is verified with an 8–37 GHz working bandwidth, a 1.2 GHz channel bandwidth, and 25 channels. The image suppression ratio is higher than 34 dB for single-tone signals and 20 dB for wideband signals. Our approach provides an innovative architecture of integrated photonic RF channelizers with high performance, which can benefit a wide range of RF applications by miniaturizing the systems. Paper has attracted significant attention recently as a microfluidic component and platform, especially in passive pumping devices due to its porous and uniform absorbing nature. Many investigations on 1D and 2D fluid flows were carried out. However, no experimental work has been reported on the three-dimensional effect in porous geometry to improve pumping characteristics in microchannels. Therefore, in this study, the fluid flow in 3D paper-based passive pumps was investigated in microchannels using cylindrical pumps. The effect of pump diameter, porosity, and programmability was investigated to achieve desired flow variations. The results indicated that the flow rate of water increased with an increase in the diameter and porosity of paper pumps. Maximum flow rates achieved for 14 mm diameter pumps of 0.5 and 0.7 porosities were 5.29 mm3/s (317.4 μl/min) and 6.97 mm3/s (418.2 μl/min), respectively. The total volume of fluid imbibition ranged between 266 and 567 μl for 8 and 14 mm diameter pumps, respectively. Moreover, 3D passive pumps can transport larger volumes of liquid with an improved flow rate, programmability, and control, in addition to being inexpensive and simple to design and fabricate. Most importantly, a single 3D paper pump showed an increasing, decreasing, and constant flow rate all in a single microchannel. With these benefits, the passive pumps can further improve the pumping characteristics of microfluidic platforms enabling a cost effective and programmable point-of-care diagnostic device. This work concerns field electron emission (FE) from large-area emitters. It corrects literature weaknesses in analyzing experimental current–voltage data and related emitter characterization. A recent paper in Applied Surface Science exemplifies these difficulties: (1) for many modern emitters, traditional data-analysis methodologies, such as the Fowler–Nordheim plot developed in 1929, yield spurious results; (2) confusion occurs between the concepts of local and macroscopic (or "emitter average") current density; (3) data analysis uses 1920s-style emission equations that were proved seriously incorrect (by a factor typically of order 100) in the 1950s. These weaknesses can combine to yield large undetected discrepancies between theory and experiment in published papers (a factor of 1016 in the example under discussion). The present work shows how a recently introduced validity test—the "magic emitter" test—can sometimes be used, at the immediate-presubmission or review stage, to help uncover scientific problems. In literature concerning large-area FE over the last 15 years or so, there seem many papers (perhaps hundreds) with some or all of the weaknesses discussed: very many authors and reviewers in this community, and many editors, seem to have been "hoaxed" by what sociologists of science call a "pathological literature." The scientific integrity of this research area, and the related peer review processes, appear significantly damaged, and attempts to correct this by normal procedures have had limited effect. With the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality," the need for environmentally friendly gases to replace SF6, a high greenhouse effect gas, is urgent. C4F7N, as an environmentally friendly gas with the greatest potential to replace SF6 as an arc extinguishing medium in circuit breakers, can be mixed with CO2 to greatly improve the shortcomings of its high liquefaction temperature, and the calculation of the physical parameters of the mixed gas plasma is a prerequisite for the computational simulation of the arc process in the opening of circuit breakers. Because solving the physical parameters is expensive, based on the system of differential equations, this paper adopts several machine learning algorithms by mining the relationship between the data using the known physical parameter data to predict the results of the physical parameters to be solved under certain conditions, which greatly reduces the cost of computation. The machine learning algorithms used in this paper are K-nearest-neighbor regression, decision tree, random forest, support vector machine, and gradient boosting regression, of which for the support vector machine, hyperparameters find it difficult to determine the problem of optimization using the gray wolf algorithm. The prediction results of several algorithms show that they are more accurate and that the problem can be solved better by using the method of machine learning. Finally, the comparison results show that the support vector machine exhibits better performance in most cases and that the gray wolf algorithm can make the results of the support vector machine more accurate. With the development of electronic technology, semiconductor memory is gradually shifting toward smaller area with less power consumption. SOT-MRAM is one of the competitive substitutes for DRAM and SRAM due to its superior endurance and switching speed. In contrast to STT-MRAM, the separation of read and write routes allows SOT-MRAM to have a lower error rate and higher lifetime, but this comes at the expense of the memory density. In recent years, vertical integrated circuits have relied on TSV to complete 3D stacking to ease the pressure of Moore's Law on scaling circuits. SOT-MRAM can take advantage of 3D stacking to reduce power and latency. More importantly, the density of SOT-MRAM can be improved at the same time. In the paper, simulation is conducted based on DESTINY, with the TSV model supplemented to NVSIM to evaluate the performance of MRAM 3D structures. The 3D SOT-MRAM structure in DESTINY can be implemented with a bus layer and interconnect structure between layers, which greatly reduces the expense of area. However, the 3D structure requires a more complex interconnect structure to truly meet the requirements of high density. For this reason, 3D model of unit interconnection using TSV is presented in the paper. Memory has several components, of which the memory array is the one with the largest area share. In this paper, aiming at the current distribution network with power operation in the presence of outdoor bright light, the operating scene is complex and not fixed, the transmission lines and lead samples are small and uneven, leading to poor accuracy of machine learning and other methods of distribution network with power operation robot identification and localization, this paper selects three-dimensional LIDAR to design a set of support vector machine (SVM) classifier and correlation analysis based on the target recognition method. First, in the context of power distribution network operations, we have explored various filtering methods suitable for preprocessing transmission line data. These methods aim to remove outliers and clutter from point clouds, thus enhancing both point cloud quality and processing speed. This, in turn, improves the efficiency of real-time on-site detection. We conducted experimental comparisons of various clustering algorithms and opted for a region-based point cloud clustering algorithm to achieve the segmentation of individual point clouds. Secondly, we proposed a multi-feature composite approach based on the Viewpoint Feature Histogram (VFH) features, which helps maintain the scale-invariant characteristics of the features. We then introduced a multi-feature composite criterion based on VFH features to extract features from segmented point clouds. Subsequently, an SVM classifier based on this composite feature criterion was developed to achieve target identification and classification. Experimental results have demonstrated improved accuracy in target identification. Finally, we integrated this system with a bucket-arm vehicle for coordinate conversion and precise navigation of the robot to the target station. Minimizing the offloading latency of agricultural drip irrigation and fertilization tasks has long been a pressing issue in agricultural drip irrigation and fertilization wireless sensor networks (AIFWSNs). The introduction of edge computing as a robust and practical aid to cloud computing in AIFWSNs can significantly improve the execution speed of agricultural drip irrigation and fertilization tasks and effectively reduce the task offloading latency. Therefore, this paper investigates the optimization method of drip irrigation and fertilization task offloading delay in AIFWSNs based on edge computing and proposes a new edge task offloading method for AIFWSNs, namely, Quantum Chaotic Genetic Optimization Algorithm (QCGA). This paper introduces a novel quantum operator in QCGA, comprising a quantum non-gate and a quantum rotation gate, to improve the algorithm's global search capability. The quantum operator accomplishes the updating of quantum rotating gates without querying the quantum rotation angle table, which reduces the computational complexity of introducing quantum optimization into the task offloading problem of AIFWSNs. This paper proposes a new chaotic operator to make the initial solution more uniformly distributed in the search space by chaotic mapping. This paper's simulation experiments compared QCGA and snake optimizer (SO), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), sequential offloading, and random offloading methods. Simulation results showed that, compared with SO, GA, PSO, sequential offloading, and random offloading methods, the average delay of QCGA was reduced by 9.96%, 26.78%, 29.31%, 44.67%, and 61.24%. TEAM Problem 35, a benchmark problem in the optimization of electrical equipment, is a multi-objective, multi-variable optimization problem involving uniform field optimization. This paper proposes a novel guided optimization algorithm to address this problem and achieve optimal magnetic field regulation. First, the deep learning method is used to predict the magnetic field of the solenoid; second, the generated magnetic field cloud map is screened to extract the magnetic field information of the more optimal solution with uniform magnetic field distribution by calculating the variance of the generated magnetic field map; finally, the magnetic field features are combined with the particle swarm optimization algorithm; specifically, the variance of the calculated magnetic field map is added to the objective function of the optimization algorithm to strengthen the optimization process. This integration improves the convergence speed of the optimization process and ensures the continuity and stability of the obtained Pareto solutions. To optimize the solenoid, this paper considers the uniformity of magnetic field distribution and power loss as the primary optimization objectives. The radius of the coil is chosen as the design variable. Sound source localization has a wide range of application prospects in many fields, such as smart home and audio monitoring. Traditional methods are difficult to achieve accurate location in the face of multi-path reflection, reverberation, and ambient noise. In this paper, a complex mapping conversion method for sound source location is proposed. By using complex-valued convolutional neural networks to fuse the amplitude and phase information of the data, a more accurate and comprehensive analysis can be carried out to improve its robustness and realize the accurate location of the sound source. The sound source location method based on complex-valued convolutional neural networks is studied, and the complex mapping principle is analyzed. Simulation and experimental studies were carried out, and the results of simulation and experiment are basically consistent. In the experiment, the positioning accuracy of the complex mapping method is 9.49% higher than that of the absolute value method and 15.81% higher than that of the phase angle method. In addition, its localization success rate, respectively, increased by 4.9% and 8.6% compared to two other methods. Smart materials with reversible wettability have attracted a lot of attention for application in sewage treatment. In this work, a pH-responsive polymer was prepared via the one-step free radical polymerization of 3-(trimethoxysilyl) acrylate and 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. The obtained pH-responsive polymer was then coated with a hydrogenated styrene–ethylene–butadiene–styrene block copolymer to endow the material with pH-responsive switchable superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic properties. Due to the excellent self-cleaning and mechanical stability of the coating, it was used to modify paper, which was then successfully utilized in the treatment of oily wastewater, showing great potential for use in advanced applications. As a promising cancer treatment method, cold atmospheric plasma has received widespread attention in recent years. However, previous research has focused more on how to realize and expand the anti-cancer scope of plasma jet. There are also studies on the killing of small-scale cancer cells, but the effects of plasma jet on normal cells and normal cell clusters have been ignored. Therefore, we proposed a 50 µm sized micro-plasma jet device, and used the device to treat melanoma cells (A-375) and human glial cells (HA1800) to evaluate their anti-cancer effects and effects on normal cells. The experimental results show that this kind of micro-plasma jet device can effectively inactivate cancer cells in a short period of time, while having little effect on normal cells. This work provides a certain experimental basis for the application of fine plasma jet to clinically inactivate cancer cells. Recent developments on the electron optics simulator (EOS) are reported in this paper. The EOS is a finite element two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) electrostatic particle steady-state trajectory code that has been widely used for beam optics modeling of vacuum electronic devices. To extend the application scope and improve the computation efficiency, four significant advances have been made and are presented in this paper. First, the code is reprogrammed to consider physical models that contain dielectrics and to support charge excitation. Second, more primary particle emission models are added in EOS to meet the needs for simulating electron and ion optics devices for diverse applications. For the precise simulation of the secondary electron emission, the Vaughan model is improved, and the Furman model is newly added in EOS. Finally, the algebraic multigrid algorithm has been embedded in EOS, which can significantly improve the computation efficiency for problems with large-scale matrices. The micro-actuator is a key element of the MEMS-based initiator. In order to ensure safety and achieve the function of detonation energy isolation and transmission of the micro-pyrotechnic sequence, it is necessary to set up a safety and arming device between the micro-heater and energetic materials on the next level in the initiator. In this paper, the MEMS safety and arming device was simulated and analyzed, and the actuator chip was made based on MEMS technology and then tested. The results showed that the maximum temperature and displacement generated by the silicon-based micro-actuator increased with increasing actuation voltage. When the actuation voltage was larger than 16 V, the device could not work normally because the maximum temperature of the device was higher than the melting point of silicon. Furthermore, the influence factors on the state-recoverable property of the device were studied by changing the actuation voltage, length, width, and thickness of the V-shaped beam in a single way. The results showed that when the actuation voltage remained unchanged and the other factors were changed in a single way, the smaller structural parameters resulted in the shorter response time and recovery time, while the displacement generated was smaller. Meanwhile, the larger structural parameters resulted in larger displacements, while the response time and recovery time were larger. In addition, the state-recoverable characteristics of the device were affected by the working environmental temperature. It is of great significance to the design of the MEMS-based initiator. The subsurface defects (SSD) of optical elements have a significant impact on the service life and laser damage threshold of the inertial confinement nuclear fusion optical system. Due to the optical diffraction limit, fluorescence microscopy has limited image resolution for detecting SSD in optical elements, making it challenging to meet the requirements for precision detection. A super-resolution method is proposed in this paper for detecting SSD in optical elements based on the fluorescence polarization characteristics of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots fluorescence dichroism. By enhancing the imaging sparsity of adjacent fluorophores through a polarization modulated excitation laser and utilizing the fluorescence polarization modulation algorithm, the resolution is achieved beyond the optical diffraction limit. The results demonstrate that the proposed method in this paper can obtain super-resolution images of SSD in optical elements with at least a two-fold increase in lateral resolution. This approach effectively improves detection accuracy for SSD and holds significant guiding significance. As the core equipment of pumped storage power stations, reversible pump-turbines will frequently switch between different working modes during operation, and it is easy to appear hump region under pump condition, which will greatly affect the performance of the pumped storage unit. Therefore, in order to explore the causes of the hump region, this paper takes the model reversible pump-turbine as the research object. First, the unit speed–unit flow characteristics are compared with the model test results under different working conditions. Then, based on the omega vortex identification method, the vortex distribution in the flow channel of the unit is analyzed. By analyzing the flow characteristics of the flow components of the unit under different flow rates in the hump region, the internal flow law of the hump region is revealed. It is found that when the flow rate decreases, the rising head cannot offset the head lost by the hydraulic loss, thus forming the hump region, and the unstable flow gradually appears in the guide vane and runner area. There are unstable phenomena, such as flow separation, in the guide vane area. There is a sudden change of radial pressure in the vaneless area between the guide vane and the runner; that is, the unstable vortex almost occupies the whole flow channel due to the change of pressure in this area, resulting in the deterioration of the instability of the unit operation. When the flow rate is large, the radial pressure mutation zone mainly exists between the guide vane cascades, making it easy to form an unstable vortex. To address the problem that oily fine particles are too small to be easily captured by traditional dust removal equipment, which hinders improving the purification efficiency, this paper proposes using the technical principle of water vapor phase transition to conduct experiments and simulations. A set of water vapor experimental devices for fine particles of oil mist is designed, and the data are analyzed by a Grimm spectrometer. The experimental results show the phase change of water vapor has a remarkable effect on the agglomeration of oily fine particles. Phase change condensation makes the particle size of fine particles increase by 5–10 times in a truly brief time, and the polymerization and removal efficiency are greatly improved. To analyze the changes of the coalescence characteristics in a larger range of parameter changes, the Euler multiphase flow model is adopted, the particle condensation growth rate function is introduced by a user-defined function to establish a coalescence model and the heterogeneous condensation growth characteristics of oily particles are analyzed in a supersaturated water vapor environment. The simulation results show that the condensing chamber temperature of the condensing chamber is 283 K, and the lower the air flow rate of the condensing chamber, the more favorable the heterogeneous condensation growth of oil particles. The change rule of agglomeration characteristics of oily particles obtained by experiment and simulation proves the feasibility of improving the removal efficiency of oily fine particles. Chitosan, obtained from crustaceans such as crabs and shrimp, has been mainly used in medicine; however, no studies on its use in electronic applications with semiconducting and large storage properties have been reported. Here, we report an n-type semiconducting biomaterial with energy storage properties of 694.4 mJ/m2 consisting of a chitosan nanofiber (ChNF) film with N-type negative resistance. The ChNF generates an alternative-current wave with a frequency of 7.8 MHz at a threshold voltage of 187 MV/m from a direct-current voltage source, with the switching effect of a third-order resistance change. This is due to the Gunn effect, caused by the repeated voltage-induced generation of a strong electric field domain (electric double layer) at the cathode and its disappearance at the anode of the ChNF device. Electron spin resonance spectral analysis showed that conducting electrons of the ChNF were identified as radicals on the aminyl radical, N·H. Understanding the flow behavior of non-Newtonian fluids from an industrial standpoint is crucial. Many industrial and technical activities, such as the extrusion of polymer sheets, the manufacturing of paper, and the development of photographic films, require non-Newtonian fluids. Heat and mass transport have various manufacturing uses. However, classical heat and mass transfer theories (Fourier and Fick laws) cannot anticipate thermal and solute relaxation time occurrences. The purpose of this investigation is to apply the modified Ohm law to the heat and mass transportation systems, which are established by generalized Fourier and Fick's equations, respectively. A three-dimensional Darcy–Forchheimer flow through a porous medium integrating Hall and ion slip effects is studied for a non-Newtonian fluid known as a "Casson nanofluid" with mixed convection across a stretched surface. To investigate heat transfer augmentation, the modified Buongiorno model for nanofluids is used. It covers practical nanofluid properties as well as the mechanics of random motion and thermo-migration in nanoparticles. These groups of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) that represent the mathematical model are combined with the proper similarity transformations to create an ordinary differential equations system, which is then resolved using the power of the Lobatto IIIA method. Examples of numerical and graphical data are given to show how various physical constraints affect the variation for velocities, temperatures, mass transfer, dimensionless shear stress, as well as Nusselt and Sherwood numbers. It turns out that lowering the Casson fluid parameters' values reduces the velocity in the spatial coordinates (x, y). A rise in the Hall parameter's values ultimately leads to an improvement in the fluid. This paper sheds light on useful applications including power generation, conservation of energy, friction elimination, and nanofluidics. Nonetheless, the work highlights an important point: by carefully adjusting the Casson parameter, thermophoresis parameter, and Brownian motion parameter, the flow of a Casson fluid, including nanoparticles, may be controlled. The injection of the Direct Current (DC) bias component will lead to oversaturation of the transformer core and affect its safe operation. In this paper, the vector magnetic potential A and winding current I are used as the variables solved in the time-step finite element method to simulate the nonlinear transient magnetization characteristics of the transformer under DC bias, and the fixed-point reluctivity is introduced to deal with the nonlinear iterative problem. The field-circuit coupling relationship is established through the electromagnetic induction law, and the two-dimensional time-step finite element model of the transformer core is found. The dynamic J–A hysteresis model is used to deal with the hysteresis effect of iron cores. The fixed-point reluctivity of difference form is introduced to solve the problem of uneven transition and multi-value of magnetization curve with hysteresis in the iterative process. The determination scheme for the equivalent thickness of the core model and the initial iterative value are discussed. A laminated core transformer is made for experiments, and the accuracy and applicability of the model proposed in this paper are verified by comparing the calculation and experimental results. Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technology has achieved some results in distributed generation networks and enhanced system stability. For problems that may occur in the system due to ignoring parameter linkages, this paper designs a synergistic controller that establishes the connection between the active frequency and the reactive voltage control loop based on synergy theory. As the output of the synergetic controller, the derived control law u is added to the power frequency control in the form of negative feedback. Two disturbance forms, a step disturbance, and a three-phase short-circuit fault, are set up. The conventional droop control and synergetic droop control results are compared using a MATLAB simulation system. Then, the system parameter variations were studied and analyzed, and the sensitivity of the control system with different values of parameters K1, K2, and K3 in the case of a three-phase short circuit was analyzed, which provides a reference guide for selecting parameters in later control optimization. Finally, the control effectiveness of a multi-machine VSG system was tested. The performance requirements of motors are gradually increasing, and anisotropic soft magnetic materials have been applied in motors to improve performance, The magnetostriction of anisotropic soft magnetic materials is one of the main contributors in extensive research on anisotropic soft magnetic material transformers. Compared to transformers, the magnetic field in motors has more complex harmonic and multi-directional characteristics. In this paper, the magnetic field of motors stator teeth under both no-load and load conditions is calculated and analyzed to research magnetostriction of anisotropic soft magnetic materials in motor magnetic field and predict the NVH performance of anisotropic soft magnetic material motors accurately. Furthermore, the magnetostriction in different magnetization angles is investigated for the multi-directional characteristics, and the result is explained from microscopic principles. This paper focuses on a splicing oriented silicon steel (OSS) motor, the magnetization angle of OSS in motor varying from 0° to 90°. Firstly, the equivalent formulas of magnetic field are obtained under the analytical and finite element calculations. After that, the frequency and direction of experiment magnetic field are confirmed and the magnetostriction of OSS in different magnetization angle and frequency is measured. Functional magnetic materials are used in a wide range of "green" applications, from wind turbines to magnetic refrigeration. Often the magnetic materials used contain expensive and/or scarce elements, making them unsuitable for long term solutions. Further, traditional material discovery is a slow and costly process, which can take over 10 years. Material informatics is a growing field, which combines informatics, machine learning (ML) and high-throughput experiments to rapidly discover new materials. To prove this concept, we have devised a material informatics workflow and demonstrated the core components of natural language processing (NLP) to extract data from research papers to create a functional magnetic material database, machine learning with semi-heuristic models to predict compositions of soft magnetic materials, and high-throughput experimental evaluation using combinatorial sputtering and high-throughput magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) magnetometry. With the rapid development of portable computing devices and users' demand for high-quality graphics rendering, embedded Graphics Processing Units (GPU) systems for graphics processing are increasingly turning into a key component of computer architecture to enhance computability. The cache system based on traditional static random access memory (SRAM) plays a crucial role in GPUs. But high leakage, low lifetime and poor integration problems deeply plague the science and engineering field. In the paper, a novel magnetic random access memory (MRAM) based cache architecture of GPU systems is proposed for highly efficient graphics processing and computing accelerating, with the merits of high speed, long endurance, strong interference resistance, and ultra-low power consumption. Spin transfer torque-MRAM and spin orbit torque-MRAM are utilized in off-chip and on-chip caches, respectively. A controller design scheme with prefetching modules and optimized cache coherency protocols are adopted. After testing and evaluating with multiple loads, neural network models and datasets, the simulation results show that the proposed system can achieve up to 28%, 56%, and 66.45% optimizations mostly in terms of speed, energy and leakage power, respectively. This paper presents a method to generative design bionic bone structures wing ribs by simulating the formation process of soap bubble boundary. In this method, the position of the central control point is optimized by the genetic algorithm to simulate the moving process of the bubble, and the control point is simplified by the K-means classification method to improve the computational efficiency. The boundary formed by the extrusion of bubbles is filled with a bone-like grid structure to realize the optimal design of a bone-like rib structure. Compared with the traditional honeycomb sandwich structure, the bone-like rib structure can distribute the stress evenly throughout the structure, thus reducing the stress concentration and improving the bearing capacity of the structure. In recent years, the field of flexible electronics has become one of the cross-disciplinary research hotspots, attracting worldwide attention and making rapid advances. So far, there has been plenty of research on the use of two-dimensional (2D) materials in flexible electronics, including graphene, transition metal dichalcogenide, and so on. In this work, we successfully prepared quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) Nb2Pd0.73S5.97 superconductors on flexible paper by mechanical friction and systematically studied their physical properties at low temperatures. Superconductivity with transition temperature (Tc) ∼ 6.05 K by Meissner effect was observed in Nb2Pd0.73S5.97 wires coated on flexible paper, and a resistance drop at 4.80 K was confirmed in electrical transport measurements. The lower critical field (Hc1) of coated paper shows anisotropy effect under parallel and perpendicular magnetic fields, exhibiting a 2D-like feature, unlike the bulk Nb2Pd0.73S5.97 fibers. Cellulose insulation paper is an essential part of the transformer oil-paper insulation system, and many types of nano-modified insulating paper are available. For studying the effects of various nano-modified molecules on cellulose and the differences in performance, the pure cellulose model and polyoctaaminophenylsesquioxane and grafted 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) SiO2 and Al2O3 cellulose models were developed using molecular dynamics methods, and the mechanical properties and thermally stability were calculated and compared. The findings show that, in general, all three nano-modification models improved the thermal stability and mechanical properties, with nano-SiO2-KH550 cellulose having the best overall modification effect. In terms of mechanical properties, the nano-SiO2-KH550 cellulose showed the largest increase in compressive strength, with an 18.1% improvement. In terms of thermal stability, the KH550 grafted nano-silica/cellulose composite model showed the best modification effect, as evidenced by the smaller cohesive energy density and free volume region compressing the space between cellulose molecules, making the modified cellulose more compact internally, thus achieving the effect of inhibiting the movement of cellulose chains. In response to the challenges in mobile robot path tracking using model predictive control, where the predictive model weakens the controller’s ability to respond to sudden changes in the reference path curvature and heading, this paper proposes a composite control strategy suitable for agricultural robots. The strategy combines the maximum torque per ampere control and an Extended State Observer (ESO). The paper initially establishes a mathematical model for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) considering aggregated disturbances. It designs a position tracking controller based on a non-singular terminal sliding mode and convergence law. This controller, employing a non-cascaded structure, replaces traditional position and velocity loop controllers and is proven to be stable with finite-time convergence through Lyapunov’s theorem. To enhance the system’s disturbance rejection capabilities further, the paper introduces an ESO to estimate system disturbances and applies it for feedforward compensation. The paper concludes by providing stability proof for the overall PMSM servo system in agricultural robots. Finally, the paper conducts simulations and experimental verifications based on the designed controller, demonstrating that the controller exhibits excellent path tracking performance, fast convergence, and robustness against external disturbances. In this study, we composite coated silica nanoparticles with functional groups on paper to form a double-size surface roughness, then hexafluorobutyl methacrylate was polymerized with 3-trimethoxymethylsilyl propyl methacrylate (TSPM), a one-step method is used to prepare a hydrophobic polymer with low surface energy (PHFMA-co-TSPM), and the superhydrophobic surface was prepared by hydrophobic treatment of the paper with a low surface energy polymer. Further tests show that the superhydrophobic paper prepared by this method not only exhibits extremely strong hydrophobicity, but also has strong stability, transparency, and self-cleaning properties. The lack of representational diversity and role models in physics, including in our textbooks and curricular materials, is an oft-cited contributing factor to the continuing dramatic under-representation of women and people of color in physics. In this work, we develop an automated, Python-based tool for identifying the names and demographics of scientists who are mentioned in indices and chapters of physics textbooks, enabling authors, publishers, and users of physics textbooks to rapidly analyze the demographics of these texts. We quantitatively validate the automated tool using standard machine learning metrics, attaining high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores. The tool is then used to demonstrate two of the many potential applications: examining whose work is mentioned in the entire collection of textbooks used in a representative four-year undergraduate physics major curriculum as well as an analysis of the demographics of scientists mentioned in a selection of ten introductory physics textbooks. Both of the sample analyses result in a similar portrait, showing that the undergraduate physics textbooks examined in this work focus overwhelmingly on work attributed to White men of European, British, and North American descent. This work points to an urgent need for the physics education community, including textbook publishers, authors, and adopters, to work together to broaden our portrayals of physics to reflect the vast diversity of scientists, both historically and contemporaneously, who are working in this field. Motivated by a desire for textbooks to describe the work of scientists from more diverse backgrounds, the authors of this paper developed a simple tool to characterize the backgrounds of scientists whose work appears in textbooks. This paper introduces spectral incoherent diffractive imaging (SIDI) as a novel method for achieving dark-field imaging of nanostructures with heterogeneous oxidation states. With SIDI, shifts in photoemission profiles can be spatially resolved, enabling the independent imaging of the underlying emitter distributions contributing to each spectral line. In the x-ray domain, this approach offers unique insights beyond the conventional combination of diffraction and x-ray emission spectroscopy. When applied at x-ray free-electron lasers, SIDI promises to be a versatile tool for investigating a broad range of systems, offering unprecedented opportunities for detailed characterization of heterogeneous nanostructures for catalysis and energy storage, including of their ultrafast dynamics. This paper presents the implementation of high-energy-resolution off-resonant spectroscopy (HEROS) measurements using self-seeded x-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) pulses. This study systematically investigated XFEL conditions, including photon energy and accumulated shot numbers, to optimize the measurement efficiency for copper foil samples near the K-edge. The x-ray absorption spectra reconstructed using HEROS were compared with those derived from fluorescence-yield measurements. The HEROS-based spectra exhibited consistent line shapes independent of the sample thickness. The potential application of HEROS to high-temperature copper was also explored. HEROS offers distinct advantages including scan-free measurement of x-ray absorption spectra with reduced core-hole lifetime broadening and self-absorption effects. Various nonlinear phenomena such as bifurcations and chaos in the responses of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are recognized as being major contributors to the inaccuracy and instability of nanoscale mechanical systems. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to predict the nonlinear dynamic behavior of a CNT conveying viscous fluid and supported on a nonlinear elastic foundation. The proposed model is based on nonlocal Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. The Galerkin method and perturbation analysis are used to discretize the partial differential equation of motion and obtain the frequency-response equation, respectively. A detailed parametric study is reported into how the nonlocal parameter, foundation coefficients, fluid viscosity, and amplitude and frequency of the external force influence the nonlinear dynamics of the system. Subharmonic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic behaviors and hardening nonlinearity are revealed by means of the vibration time histories, frequency-response curves, bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, power spectra, and Poincaré maps. Also, the results show that it is possible to eliminate irregular motion in the whole range of external force amplitude by selecting appropriate parameters. This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of cantilever-type resonators with a novel stacked structure. Aluminum nitride is adopted as the material for both the structural layer and the piezoelectric layer; this simplifies the fabrication process and improves the quality factor of the resonator. Both in-plane and out-of-plane flexural modes were investigated. The effect of the structural dimensions and electrode patterns on the resonator's performance were also studied. Finite-element simulations and experiments examining anchor loss and thermoelastic damping, which are the main loss mechanisms affecting the quality factor of these resonators, were carried out. The optimal structural dimensions and electrode patterns of the cantilever-type resonators are presented. A quality factor of 7922 with a motional impedance of 88.52 kΩ and a quality factor of 8851 with a motional impedance of 67.03 kΩ were achieved for the in-plane and out-of-plane flexural-mode resonators, respectively. The proposed resonator design will contribute to the development of high-performance devices such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors. This paper presents a time- and cost-effective method for the large-area fabrication of photonic crystals with nanometer-scale features on the GaN material. The proposed technique utilizes e-beam lithography and double hard mask layers to enable the high aspect ratio etching of the nanoscale features. The double hard mask layer, which is a photoresist, platinum (Pt) and SiO2, is very strong against plasma etching, making it an effective barrier layer to protect the underlying material during the etching process. The fabricated photonic crystal exhibits a high aspect ratio and excellent uniformity over a large area. This technique can be used for the time-effective production of photonic crystals for various applications such as optical sensing, spectroscopy, and telecommunications. The method presented in this paper can also be extended to other material systems beyond GaN. A compensation approach for global back-stepping adaptive sliding mode control to deal with the nonlinear backlash in naval gun servo systems has been proposed in this paper. First, by introducing an approximate dead-zone model into the double inertia system and considering the nonlinear disturbances during the firing at level 5 sea conditions, the state space model of the system is established, which is divided into three subsystems. Then, based on the back-stepping control theory, the Lyapunov function is constructed step-by-step using the recursive approach. By combining the sliding mode control in Step 3, the adaptive law of uncertain parameters is given, and the global back-stepping adaptive sliding mode controller is designed. In addition, the global stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Barbalat's lemma. The simulation results show that, compared with proportional integral differential control, this approach can compensate the backlash more effectively, reduce the torsional oscillations in both the driving torque and load velocity, and ensure a higher position tracking accuracy and robustness of the system under the same operating conditions. Cavitation bubbles can be generated by introducing ultrasonic waves into the liquid. The growth and collapse of the bubbles transfer energy from ultrasonic waves to the gas mixture, resulting in the formation of an extreme environment with local high pressure and temperature, and then, multiple products (H2, ·OH, H·, O, H2O2, and so on) are produced. In the present study, the sonochemical characteristics inside an oxygen bubble have been investigated by using single bubble dynamics equations taking mass transfer, heat exchange, and chemical reactions into account. The effects of the equilibrium radius and static pressure on the temperature and the yields of H2, ·OH, and total oxidants inside the bubble are analyzed. There are optimal equilibrium radii that maximize gas temperature and the amounts of H2, ·OH, and total oxidants under different static pressures. In this paper, the electro-mechanical behavior of a flexoelectric nanobeam, considering the surface effect, is studied with an induced electric potential. Based on the modified strain gradient theory and Hamilton's variational principle, the governing differential equations of the nanobeam and the corresponding boundary conditions are obtained. The exact deflection solution of the flexoelectric nanobeam is derived from static bending. The relationship between the induced electric potential, including the surface effect, and the angle of the end of the cantilever beam is presented. Moreover, the characteristic equation of natural frequency is obtained by using a separate variable method under an open circuit with surface electrodes and an induced electric potential condition (OCI). The simulated results indicate the electro-mechanical response of the cantilever beam can be controlled by adjusting the flexoelectric coefficient, residual surface stress, and material length scale parameters of strain gradient theory. The free end of the beam with a platform phenomenon is also found by setting the appropriate parameters. The results also show that the residual surface stress and the ratio of beam thickness to material length scale parameters have a more significant effect on the effective frequency shift of the flexoelectric nanobeam.
