The academic community has witnessed a notable increase in paper publications, whereby the rapid pace at which modern society seeks information underscores the critical need for literature mapping. This study introduces an innovative automatic model for categorizing articles by subject matter using Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for classification and category labeling, alongside a proposed ranking method called SSS (Scientific Significance Score) and using Z-score to select the finest papers. This paper's use case concerns industry productivity. The key findings include the following: (1) The Decision Tree model demonstrated superior performance with an accuracy rate of 75% in classifying articles within the productivity and industry theme. (2) Through a ranking methodology based on citation count and publication date, it identified the finest papers. (3) Recent publications with higher citation counts achieved better scores. (4) The model's sensitivity to outliers underscores the importance of addressing database imbalances, necessitating caution during training by excluding biased categories. These findings not only advance the utilization of ML models for paper classification but also lay a foundation for further research into productivity within the industry, exploring themes such as artificial intelligence, efficiency, industry 4.0, innovation, and sustainability. Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) is a broad domain with publications covering interrelated subdisciplines and considered a key source of knowledge sharing. Previous studies used scientometric methods to assess the current impact of CEM publications; however, there is a need to predict future citations of CEM publications to identify the expected high-impact trends in the future and guide new research efforts. To tackle this gap in the literature, the authors conducted a study using Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and Social Network Analysis (SNA) to predict CEM-related citation metrics. Using a dataset of 93,868 publications, the authors trained and tested two machine learning classification algorithms: Random Forest and XGBoost. Validation of the RF and XGBoost resulted in a balanced accuracy of 79.1% and 79.5%, respectively. Accordingly, XGBoost was selected. Testing of the XGBoost model revealed a balanced accuracy of 80.71%. Using SNA, it was found that while the top CEM subdisciplines in terms of the number of predicted impactful papers are "Project planning and design", "Organizational issues", and "Information technologies, robotics, and automation"; the lowest was "Legal and contractual issues". This paper contributes to the body of knowledge by studying the citation level, strength, and interconnectivity between CEM subdisciplines as well as identifying areas more likely to result in highly cited publications. Text classification, as an important research area of text mining, can quickly and effectively extract valuable information to address the challenges of organizing and managing large-scale text data in the era of big data. Currently, the related research on text classification tends to focus on the application in fields such as information filtering, information retrieval, public opinion monitoring, and library and information, with few studies applying text classification methods to the field of tourist attractions. In light of this, a corpus of tourist attraction description texts is constructed using web crawler technology in this paper. We propose a novel text representation method that combines Word2Vec word embeddings with TF-IDF-CRF-POS weighting, optimizing traditional TF-IDF by incorporating total relative term frequency, category discriminability, and part-of-speech information. Subsequently, the proposed algorithm respectively combines seven commonly used classifiers (DT, SVM, LR, NB, MLP, RF, and KNN), known for their good performance, to achieve multi-class text classification for six subcategories of national A-level tourist attractions. The effectiveness and superiority of this algorithm are validated by comparing the overall performance, specific category performance, and model stability against several commonly used text representation methods. The results demonstrate that the newly proposed algorithm achieves higher accuracy and F1-measure on this type of professional dataset, and even outperforms the high-performance BERT classification model currently favored by the industry. Acc, marco-F1, and mirco-F1 values are respectively 2.29%, 5.55%, and 2.90% higher. Moreover, the algorithm can identify rare categories in the imbalanced dataset and exhibit better stability across datasets of different sizes. Overall, the algorithm presented in this paper exhibits superior classification performance and robustness. In addition, the conclusions obtained by the predicted value and the true value are consistent, indicating that this algorithm is practical. The professional domain text dataset used in this paper poses higher challenges due to its complexity (uneven text length, relatively imbalanced categories), and a high degree of similarity between categories. However, this proposed algorithm can efficiently implement the classification of multiple subcategories of this type of text set, which is a beneficial exploration of the application research of complex Chinese text datasets in specific fields, and provides a useful reference for the vector expression and classification of text datasets with similar content. Weiyang Palace, the royal palace of the Western Han Dynasty, is a part of the Silk Roads: the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor on the World Heritage list. The south palace wall of Weiyang Palace is a well-preserved earthen heritage site within the palace, but it is undergoing continuous deterioration due to the influence of vegetation and external environmental factors. This study pioneers the integration of high-resolution three-dimensional LiDAR scanning with multi-source data analysis, including unprecedented on-site botanical surveys, to explore the subtle effects of different vegetation types on the structural integrity of the south palace wall. Through contour line analysis and facade grid analysis, we extracted the deterioration locations of typical sections of the earthen heritage sites. And we classified the overlying vegetation types on the wall using an object-oriented classification algorithm. Our findings reveal a complex interaction between vegetation and earthen structures: paper mulberry exhibits protective qualities against erosion, while Ziziphus jujuba significantly exacerbates structural vulnerabilities. The methodologies applied in this study for extracting deterioration at earthen heritage sites and integrating multi-source spatial data can serve as a technical application model for monitoring and analyzing the driving forces of earthen heritage sites along the entire Silk Road network, thereby better guiding the conservation of earthen heritage sites. Personal credit assessment plays a crucial role in the financial system, which not only relates to the financial activities of individuals but also affects the overall credit system and economic health of society. However, the current problem of data imbalance affecting classification results in the field of personal credit assessment has not been fully solved. In order to solve this problem better, we propose a data-enhanced classification algorithm based on a Pixel Convolutional Neural Network (PixelCNN) and a Generative Adversarial Network (Wasserstein GAN, WGAN). Firstly, the historical data containing borrowers' borrowing information are transformed into grayscale maps; then, data enhancement of default images is performed using the improved PixelCNN-WGAN model; and finally, the expanded image dataset is inputted into the CNN, AlexNet, SqueezeNet, and MobileNetV2 for classification. The results on the real dataset LendingClub show that the data enhancement algorithm designed in this paper improves the accuracy of the four algorithms by 1.548–3.568% compared with the original dataset, which can effectively improve the classification effect of the credit data, and to a certain extent, it provides a new idea for the classification task in the field of personal credit assessment. The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Location-Based Service is receiving more and more attention due to its high ranging accuracy and good time resolution. However, the None-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) propagation may reduce the ranging accuracy for UWB localization system in indoor environment. So it is important to identify LOS and NLOS propagations before taking proper measures to improve the UWB localization accuracy. In this paper, a deep learning-based UWB NLOS/LOS classification algorithm called FCN-Attention is proposed. The proposed FCN-Attention algorithm utilizes a Fully Convolution Network (FCN) for improving feature extraction ability and a self-attention mechanism for enhancing feature description from the data to improve the classification accuracy. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using an open-source dataset, a local collected dataset and a mixed dataset created from these two datasets. The experiment result shows that the proposed FCN-Attention algorithm achieves classification accuracy of 88.24% on the open-source dataset, 100% on the local collected dataset and 92.01% on the mixed dataset, which is better than the results from other evaluated NLOS/LOS classification algorithms in most scenarios in this paper. With the development of air transport and improved ecological environment, bird strikes on aircraft have become a significant threat to flight safety. Accurate and efficient identification of airport birds can enhance the efficiency of airport staff in bird strike prevention. Public datasets for bird classification are typically limited in size and not specifically tailored for airport birds. Therefore, this paper introduces a self‐built airport bird dataset, ADB‐20, and proposes an image recognition method based on an improved ResNet model. First, this paper replaces traditional convolution in the residual structure with the Pyramidal Convolution method, ensuring the extraction of multiscale features. Second, it introduces the Parallel Convolutional Block Attention Moduleto the backbone network, considering features in both channel and spatial dimensions. Last, the Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling module is incorporated to capture contextual information at various scales. Experimental results show that the PPA‐ResNet model achieves an accuracy of 95.2%, with a recall of 93.7%, a precision of 96.8%, and an F1 score of 95.2% on the ADB‐20 dataset. The proposed algorithm significantly enhances classification performance compared to other mainstream image classification algorithms. These indicators confirm that the results of this study can precisely identify airport birds, aid airport personnel in making informed decisions, and guarantee the safety of aviation transport. This paper presents machine learning classification on simulated data of permeable conducting spheres in air and seawater irradiated by low frequency electromagnetic pulses. Classification accuracy greater than 90% was achieved. The simulated data were generated using an analytical model of a magnetic dipole in air and seawater placed 1.5–3.5 m above the center of the sphere in 50 cm increments. The spheres had radii of 40 cm and 50 cm and were of permeable materials, such as steel, and non-permeable materials, such as aluminum. A series RL circuit was analytically modeled as the transmitter coil, and an RLC circuit as the receiver coil. Additive white Gaussian noise was added to the simulated data to test the robustness of the machine learning algorithms to noise. Multiple machine learning algorithms were used for classification including a perceptron and multiclass logistic regression, which are linear models, and a neural network, 1D convolutional neural network (CNN), and 2D CNN, which are nonlinear models. Feature maps are plotted for the CNNs and provide explainability of the salient parts of the time signature and spectrogram data used for classification. The pulses investigated, which expand the literature, include a two-sided decaying exponential, Heaviside step-off, triangular, Gaussian, rectangular, modulated Gaussian, raised cosine, and rectangular down-chirp. Propagation effects, including dispersion and frequency dependent attenuation, are encapsulated by the analytical model, which was verified using finite element modeling. The results in this paper show that machine learning methods are a viable alternative to inversion of electromagnetic induction (EMI) data for metallic sphere classification, with the advantage of real-time classification without the use of a physics-based model. The nonlinear machine learning algorithms used in this work were able to accurately classify metallic spheres in seawater even with significant pulse distortion caused by dispersion and frequency dependent attenuation. Recursive neural networks and transformers have recently become dominant in hyperspectral (HS) image classification due to their ability to capture long-range dependencies in spectral sequences. Despite the success of these sequential architectures, mainstream deep learning methods primarily handle two-dimensional structured data. However, challenges such as the curse of dimensionality, spectral variability, and confounding factors in hyperspectral remote sensing images limit their effectiveness, especially in remote sensing applications. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel land cover classification algorithm that integrates random forests with a spectral transformer network structure (RS-Net). Firstly, this paper presents a combination of the Gramian Angular Field (GASF) and Gramian Angular Difference Field (GADF) algorithms, which effectively maps the multidimensional time series constructed for each pixel onto two-dimensional image features, enabling precise extraction and recognition in the backend network algorithms and improving the classification accuracy of land cover types. Secondly, to capture the relationships between features at different scales, this paper proposes a SpectralFormer network architecture using the Context and Structure Encoding (CASE) module to effectively learn dependencies between channels. This architecture enhances important features and suppresses unimportant ones, thereby addressing the semantic gap and improving the recognition capability of land cover features. Finally, the final prediction results are determined by a voting mechanism from the Random Forest algorithm, which synthesizes predictions from multiple decision trees to enhance classification stability and accuracy. To better compare the performance of RS-Net, this paper conducted extensive experiments on three benchmark HS datasets obtained from satellite and airborne imagers, comparing various classic neural network models. Graph neural networks (GNNs) typically exhibit superior performance in shallow architectures. However, as the network depth increases, issues such as overfitting and oversmoothing of hidden vector representations arise, significantly diminishing model performance. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a Two-Channel Classification Algorithm Based on Graph Attention Network (TCC_GAT). Initially, nodes exhibiting similar interaction behaviors are identified through cosine similarity, thereby enhancing the foundational graph structure. Subsequently, an attention mechanism is employed to adaptively integrate neighborhood information within the enhanced graph structure, with a multi-head attention mechanism applied to mitigate overfitting. Furthermore, the K-nearest neighbors algorithm is adopted to reconstruct the basic graph structure, facilitating the learning of structural information and neighborhood features that are challenging to capture on interaction graphs. This approach addresses the difficulties associated with learning high-order neighborhood information. Finally, the embedding representations of identical nodes across different graph structures are fused to optimize model classification performance, significantly enhancing node embedding representations and effectively alleviating the over-smoothing issue. Semi-supervised experiments and ablation studies conducted on the Cora, Citeseer, and Pubmed datasets reveal an accuracy improvement ranging from 1.4% to 4.5% compared to existing node classification algorithms. A fast hyperspectral image classification algorithm with strong noise robustness is proposed in this paper, aiming at the hyperspectral image classification problems under noise interference. Based on the Fast 3D Convolutional Neural Network (Fast-3DCNN), this algorithm enables the classification model to have good tolerance for various types of noise by using a Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF) as dimensionality reduction module for hyperspectral image input data. In addition, by introducing lightweight hybrid attention modules with the spatial and the channel information, the deep features extracted by the Convolutional Neural Network are further refined, ensuring that the model has high classification accuracy. Public dataset experiments have shown that compared to traditional methods, the MNF in this algorithm reduces the dimensionality of input spectral data, preserves information with higher signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) in the spectral bands, and aggregates spectral features into class feature vectors, greatly improving the noise robustness of the model. At the same time, based on a lightweight spectral–spatial hybrid attention mechanism, combined with fewer spectral dimensions, the model effectively avoids overfitting. With less loss in model training speed, it achieved better classification accuracy in small-scale training sample experiments, fully demonstrating the good generalization ability of this algorithm. Presently, multi-label classification algorithms are mainly based on positive and negative logical labels, which have achieved good results. However, logical labeling inevitably leads to the label misclassification problem. In addition, missing labels are common in multi-label datasets. Recovering missing labels and constructing soft labels that reflect the mapping relationship between instances and labels is a difficult task. Most existing algorithms can only solve one of these problems. Based on this, this paper proposes a soft-label recover based label-specific features learning (SLR-LSF) to solve the above problems simultaneously. Firstly, the information entropy is used to calculate the confidence matrix between labels, and the membership degree of soft labels is obtained by combining the label density information. Secondly, the membership degree and confidence matrix are combined to construct soft labels, and this process not only solves the problem of missing labels but also obtains soft labels with richer semantic information. Finally, in the process of learning specific label features for soft labels. The local smoothness of the labels learned through stream regularization is complemented by the global label correlation, thus improving the classification performance of the algorithm. Currently, the tasks of intelligent data analysis in medicine are becoming increasingly common. Existing artificial intelligence tools provide high effectiveness in solving these tasks when analyzing sufficiently large datasets. However, when there is very little training data available, current machine learning methods do not ensure adequate classification accuracy or may even produce inadequate results. This paper presents an enhanced input-doubling method for classification tasks in the case of limited data analysis, achieved via expanding the number of independent attributes in the augmented dataset with probabilities of belonging to each class of the task. The authors have developed an algorithmic implementation of the improved method using two Naïve Bayes classifiers. The method was modeled on a small dataset for cardiovascular risk assessment. The authors explored two options for the combined use of Naïve Bayes classifiers at both stages of the method. It was found that using different methods at both stages potentially enhances the accuracy of the classification task. The results of the improved method were compared with a range of existing methods used for solving the task. The advancement of technology has led humanity into the era of the information society, where information drives progress and knowledge is the most valuable resource. This era involves vast amounts of data, from which stored knowledge should be effectively extracted for use. In this context, machine learning is a growing trend used to address various challenges across different fields of human activity. This paper proposes an ensemble model that leverages multiple machine learning algorithms to determine the key factors for successful foreign direct investment, which simultaneously enables the prediction of this process using data from the World Bank, covering 60 countries. This innovative model, which adds to scientific and research knowledge, employs two sets of methods—binary regression and feature selection—combined in a stacking ensemble using a classification algorithm as the combiner to enable asymmetric optimization. The proposed predictive ensemble model has been tested in a case study using a dataset compiled from World Bank data across countries worldwide. The model demonstrates better performance than each of the individual algorithms integrated into it, which are considered state-of-the-art in these methodologies. Monitoring the driver's physical and mental state based on wearable EEG acquisition equipment, especially the detection and early warning of fatigue, is a key issue in the research of the brain–computer interface in human–machine intelligent fusion driving. Comparing and analyzing the waking (alert) state and fatigue state by simulating EEG data during simulated driving, this paper proposes a brain functional network construction method based on a phase locking value (PLV) and phase lag index (PLI), studies the relationship between brain regions, and quantitatively analyzes the network structure. The characteristic parameters of the brain functional network that have significant differences in fatigue status are screened out and constitute feature vectors, which are then combined with machine learning algorithms to complete classification and identification. The experimental results show that this method can effectively distinguish between alertness and fatigue states. The recognition accuracy rates of 52 subjects are all above 70%, with the highest recognition accuracy reaching 89.5%. Brain network topology analysis showed that the connectivity between brain regions was weakened under a fatigue state, especially under the PLV method, and the phase synchronization relationship between delta and theta frequency bands was significantly weakened. The research results provide a reference for understanding the interdependence of brain regions under fatigue conditions and the development of fatigue driving detection systems. Fuzzy sets possess remarkable abilities in expressing and handling information uncertainty, which has resulted in their widespread application in various fields. Nevertheless, distance measurement between IFSs for quantitating their differences and levels of differentiation has remained an open problem that deserves attention. Despite the development of various metrics, they either lack intuitive insight or do not satisfy the axioms of distance measurement, leading to counterintuitive results. To address these issues, this paper proposed a distance measurement method based on Clark divergence, which satisfies the distance measurement axioms and exhibits nonlinearity. Numerical examples demonstrate that our method effectively distinguishes different indicators, yielding more reasonable results. Moreover, when comparing relative differences of the results, our method demonstrated superior adaptability to complex environmental decision-making, providing decision-makers with more accurate and confidential judgments. In our numerical and pattern classification application tests, we achieve an accuracy of 98%, a 40% increase in computing time efficiency and a relative diversity improvement of 35%. Modern manufacturing is the world's largest and most automated industrial sector. The rise of Industry 4.0 technologies such as Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and Machine Learning has enabled a better connection with machines and factory systems. Data harvesting allowed for a more seamless and comprehensive implementation of the knowledge-based decision-making process. New models that provide a competitive edge must be created by combining the Lean paradigm with the new technologies of Industry 4.0. This paper presents novel computer-based vision models for automated detection and classification of damaged packages from intact packages. In high-volume production environments, the package manual inspection process through the human eye consumes inordinate amounts of time poring over physical packages. Our proposed three different computer-based vision approaches detect damaged packages to prevent them from moving to shipping operations that would otherwise incur waste in the form of wasted operating hours, wasted resources and lost customer satisfaction. The proposed approaches were carried out on a data set consisting of package images and achieved high precision, accuracy, and recall values during the training and validation stage, with the resultant trained YOLO v7 model. The paper classification method aims to correctly divide the paper data according to the similarity of its content. However, how to accurately classify according to the content expressed in the paper has always been a problem that various classification algorithms need to face. At present, there is a kind of paper classification method based on deep learning and implemented by the encoder‐decoder structure. This method inputs the words from a large number of papers into encoder, after calculating by NN (neural network) algorithm, the similarity degree of different papers is compared to achieve the purpose of classification. However, this type of method only considers the similarity between words, a NN algorithm can only calculate a large number of word information once, and it cannot find the regularity of classification through word information. But it has a difference with the similarity of the content. This paper starts from the perspective of considering the content, its label information is extracted, and the input vector of encoder‐decoder structure is formed with labels and words. This improves the original paper classification method based on encoder‐decoder structure. Firstly, the label information is based on the content, which can reflect the content of the paper. Secondly, the classification method which combines label information and word information can reflect the content of the paper comprehensively. Thirdly, the label information is independent of word information and NN algorithm is used separately to make this part of the content more consistent in the encoder‐decoder structure. Finally, the label information and the word information are combined, respectively, with the output values obtained by different NN algorithms to realize the classification of the content. Cloud model similarity algorithm is an important part of cloud modelling theory. Most of the existing cloud model similarity algorithms suffer from poor discriminability, poor classification, unstable results, and low time efficiency. In this paper, a new similarity algorithm is proposed that considers the triangular cloud model distance and shape. First, according to the D T distance formula, a new exponential closeness measure is defined, with which the distance similarity of cloud models is characterized. Then, the shape similarity is calculated according to the variance of the cloud model cloud drops. Finally, the two similarities are synthesized to define a similarity algorithm for determining the distance from the D T distance formula and shape based on the triangular cloud model (DDTSTCM). In this paper, discriminability, stability, efficiency and theoretical interpretability are taken as the evaluation indices. Equipment security system capability evaluation experiment, cloud model differentiation simulation experiment and time series classification accuracy experiment are set up to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm in terms of the four above aspects. The experimental results show that DDTSTCM has good differentiation and excellent classification effects. In the classification experiment for the time series, the average classification accuracy of DDTSTCM reaches 91.78%, which is at least 2.78% higher than those of the other seven commonly used algorithms. The CPU running efficiency of DDTSTCM is also extremely high, and the average CPU running time of group training is always on the order of milliseconds, which effectively reduces the time cost. Finally, a case study is conducted to analyse a risk assessment problem for China's island microgrid industry, and the evaluation results based on DDTSTCM are in line with human cognition and have good value for engineering applications. The dominance of Android in the global mobile market and the open development characteristics of this platform have resulted in a significant increase in malware. These malicious applications have become a serious concern to the security of Android systems. To address this problem, researchers have proposed several machine-learning models to detect and classify Android malware based on analyzing features extracted from Android samples. However, most existing studies have focused on the classification task and overlooked the feature selection process, which is crucial to reduce the training time and maintain or improve the classification results. The current paper proposes a new Android malware detection and classification approach that identifies the most important features to improve classification performance and reduce training time. The proposed approach consists of two main steps. First, a feature selection method based on the Attention mechanism is used to select the most important features. Then, an optimized Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) classifier is applied to classify the Android samples and identify the malware. The feature selection method proposed in this paper is to integrate an Attention layer into a multilayer perceptron neural network. The role of the Attention layer is to compute the weighted values of each feature based on its importance for the classification process. Experimental evaluation of the approach has shown that combining the Attention-based technique with an optimized classification algorithm for Android malware detection has improved the accuracy from 98.64% to 98.71% while reducing the training time from 80 to 28 s. Aiming to tackle the problems of low classification accuracy, difficult data processing, long analysis time, and the influence of subjective consciousness of traditional Baijiu (Chinese liquor), this paper reports a method based on the combination of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy with high-frequency ultrasonic atomization system (AS-LIBS) and optimized grid search cross validation (Opt-GSCV) for high-precision and rapid classification of Baijiu of different dimensions. Multi-dimensional high-precision classification of 23 Baijiu samples with different series, degrees, and production dates from Shanxi Xinghuacun Fen Wine Factory Co., Ltd was performed. By studying the growth and evolution mechanism of plasma generated by laser excitation, a new method of Baijiu spectral signal acquisition was realized by combining LIBS with Baijiu detection. Aiming at addressing the shortcomings of high breakdown thresholds and poor signal stability due to the direct breakdown of Baijiu with high ethanol content, a high-frequency atomization system based on ultrasonic technology is proposed to realize the efficient extraction of Baijiu plasma spectral signals. With regard to the selection of the number of nodes, weights and thresholds of the implicit layer of the back-propagation (BP) network, an optimization model based on the combination of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm combined with the genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to realize the construction of the BP optimal network architecture. By constructing a secondary optimization seeking network model based on OptGSCV, the technical problem of mismatch between optimal parameter selection and optimal network construction is solved, and a new network integrating an intelligent qualitative analysis algorithm and a traditional classification algorithm is realized. Twin Support Vector Machine (TSVM) is a powerful machine learning method that is usually used to solve binary classification problems. But although the classification speed and performance of TSVM is better than that of primitive support vector machine, TSVM still faces the problem of difficult parameter selection; therefore, to overcome the problem of parameter selection of TSVM, this paper proposes a Chaotic Mapping Dung Beetle Optimization Algorithm-based Twin Support Vector Machine (CMDBO-TSVM) for automatic parameter selection. This paper focuses on leveraging classification algorithms such as Naive Bayes, Random Forest, Decision Tree, and KNN to predict diseases based on patient symptoms. This system enables users to input symptoms and, through meticulous analysis, accurately forecast the disease the patient may be suffering from. Bladder urothelial carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor disease in urinary system, and its incidence rate ranks ninth in the world. In recent years, the continuous development of hyperspectral imaging technology has provided a new tool for the auxiliary diagnosis of bladder cancer. In this study, based on microscopic hyperspectral data, an automatic detection algorithm of bladder tumor cells combining color features and shape features is proposed. Support vector machine (SVM) is used to build classification models and compare the classification performance of spectral feature, spectral and shape fusion feature, and the fusion feature proposed in this paper on the same classifier. The results show that the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of our classification algorithm based on shape and color fusion features are 0.952, 0.897, and 0.920, respectively, which are better than the classification algorithm only using spectral features. Therefore, this study can effectively extract the cell features of bladder urothelial carcinoma smear, thus achieving automatic, real-time, and noninvasive detection of bladder tumor cells, and then helping doctors improve the efficiency of pathological diagnosis of bladder urothelial cancer, and providing a reliable basis for doctors to choose treatment plans and judge the prognosis of the disease. Developing solutions to reduce traffic accidents requires experimentation and much data. However, due to confidentiality issues, not all datasets used in previous research are publicly available, and those that are available may be insufficient for research. Building datasets with real data is costly. Given this reality, this paper proposes a procedure to generate synthetic data sequences of driving events using the Time series GAN (TimeGAN) and Real-world time series (RTSGAN) frameworks. First, a 15-feature driving event dataset is constructed with real data, which forms the basis for generating datasets using the two mentioned frameworks. The generated datasets are evaluated using the qualitative metrics PCA and T-SNE, as well as the discriminative and predictive score quantitative metrics defined in TimeGAN. The generated synthetic data are then used in an unsupervised algorithm to identify clusters representing vehicle crash risk levels. Next, the generated data are used in a supervised classification algorithm to predict risk level categories. Comparison results between the data generated by TimeGAN and RTSGAN show that the data generated by RTSGAN achieve better scores than the the data generated with TimeGAN. On the other hand, we demonstrate that the use of datasets trained with synthetic data to train a supervised classification model for predicting the level of accident risk can obtain accuracy comparable to that of models that use datasets with only real data in their training, proving the usefulness of the generated data. Recently, the research community has taken great interest in human activity recognition (HAR) due to its wide range of applications in different fields of life, including medicine, security, and gaming. The use of sensory data for HAR systems is most common because the sensory data are collected from a person's wearable device sensors, thus overcoming the privacy issues being faced in data collection through video cameras. Numerous systems have been proposed to recognize some common activities of daily living (ADLs) using different machine learning, image processing, and deep learning techniques. However, the existing techniques are computationally expensive, limited to recognizing short-term activities, or require large datasets for training purposes. Since an ADL is made up of a sequence of smaller actions, recognizing them directly from raw sensory data is challenging. In this paper, we present a computationally efficient two-level hierarchical framework for recognizing long-term (composite) activities, which does not require a very large dataset for training purposes. First, the short-term (atomic) activities are recognized from raw sensory data, and the probabilistic atomic score of each atomic activity is calculated relative to the composite activities. In the second step, the optimal features are selected based on atomic scores for each composite activity and passed to the two classification algorithms: random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) due to their well-documented effectiveness for human activity recognition. The proposed method was evaluated on the publicly available CogAge dataset that contains 890 instances of 7 composite and 9700 instances of 61 atomic activities. The data were collected from eight sensors of three wearable devices: a smartphone, a smartwatch, and smart glasses. The proposed method achieved the accuracy of 96.61% and 94.1% by random forest and SVM classifiers, respectively, which shows a remarkable increase in the classification accuracy of existing HAR systems for this dataset. Adversarial examples which mislead deep neural networks by adding well-crafted perturbations have become a major threat to classification models. Gradient-based white-box attack algorithms have been widely used to generate adversarial examples. However, most of them are designed for multi-class models, and only a few gradient-based adversarial attack algorithms specifically designed for multi-label classification models. Due to the correlation between multiple labels, the performance of these gradient-based algorithms in generating adversarial examples for multi-label classification is worthy of analyzing and evaluating comprehensively. In this paper, we first transplant five typical gradient-based adversarial attack algorithms in the multi-class environment to the multi-label environment. Secondly, we comprehensively compared the performance of these five attack algorithms and the other four existing multi-label adversarial attack algorithms by experiments on six different attack types, and evaluated the transferability of adversarial examples generated by all algorithms under two attack types. Experimental results show that, among different attack types, the majority of multi-step attack algorithms have higher attack success rates compared to one-step attack algorithms. Additionally, these gradient-based algorithms face greater difficulty in augmenting labels than in hiding them. Featured Application: The application of this paper lies in improving the preprocessing of hybrid and incomplete data for supervised classifiers. The existence of noise is inherent to most real data that are collected. Removing or reducing noise can help classification algorithms focus on relevant patterns, preventing them from being affected by irrelevant or incorrect information. This can result in more accurate and reliable models, improving their ability to generalize and make accurate predictions on new data. For example, among the main disadvantages of the nearest neighbor classifier are its noise sensitivity and its high computational cost (for classification and storage). Thus, noise filtering is essential to ensure data quality and the effectiveness of supervised classification models. The simultaneous selection of attributes and instances for supervised classifiers was introduced in the last decade. However, the proposed solutions present several drawbacks because some are either stochastic or do not handle noisy domains, and the neighborhood selection of some algorithms allows very dissimilar objects to be considered as neighbors. In addition, the design of some methods is just for specific classifiers without generalization possibilities. Forests play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of natural ecosystems. Accurate mapping of windfall damages following storms is essential for effective post-disaster management. While remote sensing image classification offers substantial advantages over ground surveys for monitoring changes in forests, it encounters several challenges. Firstly, training samples in classification algorithms are typically selected through pixel-based random sampling or manual regional sampling. This approach struggles with accurately modeling complex patterns in high-resolution images and often results in redundant samples. Secondly, the limited availability of labeled samples compromises the classification accuracy when they are divided into training and test sets. To address these issues, two innovative approaches are proposed in this paper. The first is a new sample selection method which combines block-based sampling with spatial features extracted by single or multiple windows. Second, a new evaluation criterion is proposed by using the homomorphic hypothesis margin map with out-of-bag (OOB) accuracy. The former can not only assess the confidence level of each pixel category but also make regional boundaries clearer, and the latter can replace the test set so that all samples can be used for change detection. The experimental results show that the OOB accuracy obtained by spatial features with whole block sampling was 7.2 % higher than that obtained by spectral features with pixel-based sampling and 2–3% higher than that for block center sampling, of which the highest value reached 98.8 % . In recent years, human activity recognition (HAR) has been widely used in medical rehabilitation, smart home and other fields. Currently, the recognition performance highly depends on feature extraction and effective algorithm. On the one hand, traditional manual feature extraction and classification algorithms hinder the improvement of HAR. On the other hand, the latest deep learning technology can automatically process data and extract features, but it faces the problems of poor feature quality and information loss. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a new recognition method using only wearable sensor data. In the feature extraction stage, the axis information of each sensor is extracted separately into one-dimensional data, and information of all axes is integrated into a two-dimensional graph. Then, two deep convolutional neural network models are designed to train the features based on one-dimensional data and two-dimensional graph respectively. Finally, weighted voting method is used to get the classification results. Experiments have shown that the average recognition accuracy of the method in this paper is about 3% higher than that of other HAR deep neural network methods, which shown the advantage of the method in this paper in obtaining better recognition result with limited data. In this paper, a modified multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm tailored for sound source identification (SSI) of vehicle noise is introduced and experimentally validated. A uniform planar microphone array (UPMA) is formulated for mathematical modeling, with its SSI-oriented parameters selected based on the primary frequency spectrum of vehicle noise. Simulations are conducted to compare the SSI accuracy of two conventional spatial spectra estimation (SSE) algorithms: the Capon algorithm and the MUSIC algorithm. The results demonstrate that the MUSIC algorithm, which relies on the eigenvalues of a covariance matrix to estimate signal direction, exhibits superior SSI resolution under low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. However, it faces challenges in distinguishing between coherent or closely spaced signals. To address this, a modified MUSIC algorithm is proposed by reconstructing the covariance matrix of received signals and the SSE function. Simulation outcomes indicate that the modified MUSIC significantly outperforms the conventional version, owing to its enhanced SSI resolution. The accuracy of the SSI system, incorporating the UPMA and the modified MUSIC, is verified using a low-frequency volume source. Ultimately, the devised SSI system is successfully deployed to identify noise sources in a vehicle at different operational conditions, further validating the efficacy of the modified MUSIC. Learning distance metrics and distinguishing between samples from different classes are among the most important topics in machine learning. This article proposes a new distance metric learning approach tailored for highly imbalanced datasets. Imbalanced datasets suffer from a lack of data in the minority class, and the differences in class density strongly affect the efficiency of the classification algorithms. Therefore, the density of the classes is considered the main basis of learning the new distance metric. It is possible that the data of one class are composed of several densities, that is, the class is a combination of several normal distributions with different means and variances. In this paper, considering that classes may be multimodal, the distribution of each class is assumed in the form of a mixture of multivariate Gaussian densities. A density-based clustering algorithm is used for determining the number of components followed by the estimation of the parameters of the Gaussian components using maximum a posteriori density estimation. Then, the Bhattacharya distance between the Gaussian mixtures of the classes is maximized using an iterative scheme. To reach a large between-class margin, the distance between the external components is increased while decreasing the distance between the internal components. The proposed method is evaluated on 15 imbalanced datasets using the k-nearest neighbor (KNN) classifier. The results of the experiments show that using the proposed method significantly improves the efficiency of the classifier in imbalance classification problems. The problem of Power Quality analysis is becoming crucial to ensuring the proper functioning of complex systems and big plants. In this regard, it is essential to rapidly detect anomalies in voltage and current signals to ensure a prompt response and maximize the system's availability with the minimum maintenance cost. In this paper, anomaly detection algorithms based on machine learning, such as One Class Support Vector Machine (OCSVM), Isolation Forest (IF), and Angle-Based Outlier Detection (ABOD), are used as a first tool for rapid and effective clustering of the measured voltage and current signals directly on-line on the sensing unit. If the proposed anomaly detection algorithm detects an anomaly, further investigations using suitable classification algorithms are required. The main advantage of the proposed solution is the ability to rapidly and efficiently detect different types of anomalies with low computational complexity, allowing the implementation of the algorithm directly on the sensor node used for signal acquisition. A suitable experimental platform has been established to evaluate the advantages of the proposed method. All the different models were tested using a consistent set of hyperparameters and an output dataset generated from the principal component analysis technique. Electromyography (EMG) signals have been used to recognize various actions of hand movements, finger movements, and hand gestures. This paper aims to improve the classification accuracy of EMG signals while decreasing the number of features using the tree-seed algorithm. The dataset containing EMG signals utilized in this investigation is derived from a publicly accessible source. The rationale for selecting the tree-seed algorithm centers on its ability to enhance classification accuracy while minimizing the dimensionality of feature sets. The object function and treeseed algorithm’s nature avoids the results to have low accuracy with fewer features. The aim is not just to use a smaller number of features but also to achieve a higher accuracy rate. To ensure that selecting a smaller number of features does not decrease classification accuracy, the performance of all feature subsets was evaluated using the objective function. As a result, the number of selected features decreased, while the accuracy rate increased. The best accuracy improvement was observed, with the rate rising from 84.78% to 90.21% using the k-nearest neighbor (kNN) classifier with 50 out of 80 features. The maximum classification accuracy achieved was 99.75%, also using the kNN classifier. In this study, two different feature sets were compared using two different optimization algorithms in conjunction with four traditional machine learning algorithms to evaluate changes in classification accuracy. This paper explores whether it is feasible to use the RGB color information in images of wheat canopies that were exposed to low temperatures during the growth season to achieve fast, non-destructive, and accurate determination of the severity of any freeze injury it may have incurred. For the study presented in this paper, we compared the accuracy of a number of algorithmic classification models using either meteorological data reported by weather services or the color gradation skewness-distribution from high-definition digital canopy images acquired in situ as inputs against a reference obtained by manually assessing the severity of the freeze injury inflicted upon wheat populations at three experimental stations in Shandong, China. The algorithms we used to construct the models included in our study were based on either K-means clustering, systematic clustering, or naïve Bayesian classification. When analyzing the reliability of our models, we found that, at more than 85%, the accuracy of the Bayesian model, which used the color information as inputs and involved the use of prior data in the form of the reference data we had obtained through manual classification, was significantly higher than that of the models based on systematic or the K-means clustering, which did not involve the use of prior data. It was interesting to note that the determination accuracy of algorithms using meteorological factors as inputs was significantly lower than that of those using color information. We also noted that the determination accuracy of the Bayesian model had some potential for optimization, which prompted us to subject the inputs of the model to a factor analysis in order to identify the key independent leaf color distribution parameters characterizing wheat freeze injury severity. This optimization allowed us to improve the determination accuracy of the model to over 90%, even in environments comprising several different ecological zones, as was the case at one of our experimental sites. In conclusion, our naïve Bayesian classification algorithm, which uses six key color gradation skewness-distribution parameters as inputs and involves the use of prior data in the form of manual assessments, qualifies as a contender for the development of commercial-grade wheat freeze injury severity monitoring systems supporting post-freeze management measures aimed at ensuring food security. Medical image classification, a pivotal task for diagnostic accuracy, poses unique challenges due to the intricate and variable nature of medical images compared to their natural counterparts. While Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformers are prevalent in this domain, each architecture has its drawbacks. CNNs, despite their strength in local feature extraction, fall short in capturing global context, whereas Transformers excel at global information but can overlook fine-grained details. The integration of CNNs and Transformers in a hybrid model aims to bridge this gap by enabling simultaneous local and global feature extraction. However, this approach remains constrained in its capacity to model long-range dependencies, thereby hindering the efficient extraction of distant features. To address these issues, we introduce the MambaConvT model, which employs a state-space approach. It begins by locally processing input features through multi-core convolution, enhancing the extraction of deep, discriminative local details. Next, depth-separable convolution with a 2D selective scanning module (SS2D) is employed to maintain a global receptive field and establish long-distance connections, capturing the fine-grained features. The model then combines hybrid features for comprehensive feature extraction, followed by global feature modeling to emphasize on global detail information and optimize feature representation. This paper conducts thorough performance experiments on different algorithms across four publicly available datasets and two private datasets. The results demonstrate that MambaConvT outperforms the latest classification algorithms in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and AUC value ratings, achieving superior performance in the precise classification of medical images. Classification algorithm is the crucial technique for machine vision system. The Transfer Component Analysis has been introduced for workpiece classification system. The dataset with five classes of workpieces is constructed for experiments, and the data augmentation strategies have been employed to prevent class imbalance problems. The Histogram of the Oriented Gradient features are extracted over workpiece images, and they are transformed by the Transfer Component Analysis and the Principal Component Analysis separately. The Maximum Mean Discrepancy distances have been employed to measure the distribution distances between the training set and the testing set. And the results indicate that the Transfer Component Analysis has dramatically reduced the distribution differences in a dimensionality reduction subspace, better than the Principal Component Analysis. The Error Correction Output Code is combined with Support Vector Machine and K-Nearest Neighbor respectively as the classifiers. The macro-averaged F 1 measure is adopted to evaluate the classifiers performance. Experiment results show that, the Transfer Component Analysis is particularly beneficial for improving the classification performance, and the Support Vector Machine is more favorable than the K-Nearest Neighbor for workpiece classification. Vehicle classification technology is one of the foundations in the field of automatic driving. With the development of deep learning technology, visual transformer structures based on attention mechanisms can represent global information quickly and effectively. However, due to direct image segmentation, local feature details and information will be lost. To solve this problem, we propose an improved vision transformer vehicle classification network (IND-ViT). Specifically, we first design a CNN-In D branch module to extract local features before image segmentation to make up for the loss of detail information in the vision transformer. Then, in order to solve the problem of misdetection caused by the large similarity of some vehicles, we propose a sparse attention module, which can screen out the discernible regions in the image and further improve the detailed feature representation ability of the model. Finally, this paper uses the contrast loss function to further increase the intra-class consistency and inter-class difference of classification features and improve the accuracy of vehicle classification recognition. Experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed model on the datasets of vehicle classification BIT-Vehicles, CIFAR-10, Oxford Flower-102, and Caltech-101 is higher than that of the original vision transformer model. The proposed hybrid classifier (PHC) is compared to six available classification algorithms (random forest (RF), C4.5, classification and regression trees (CART), support vector machines (SVM), naive Bayes (NB) and K-nearest neighbors (KNN)) using recall, precision, F1-score, and accuracy evaluation measures. Our experimental results reveal that the PHC classifier consistently outperforms the individual classifiers across multiple evaluation metrics. Specifically, the PHC classifier achieved an accuracy rate of 92.40%, surpassing the RF, C4.5, and CART classifiers, which were the next best performers. In terms of precision and F1 score, the PHC also demonstrated superior performance, indicating its robustness in correctly identifying positive instances and providing balanced accuracy. While the C4.5 classifier performed comparably to the PHC classifier concerning the recall metric, the hybrid model’s overall performance highlights its effectiveness in leveraging the complementary strengths of the included classifiers. In the real world, financial fraud detection and disease diagnosis are typical instances of graph imbalanced problems. Graph neural networks based on oversampling are among the commonly employed methods to address such issues. However, this approach encounters challenges in ensuring the diversity of generated boundary samples, which can lead to a reduction in classification performance. This paper introduces a graph node imbalanced classification algorithm based on borderline oversampling (ImBS) to enhance the diversity of generated samples. Firstly, ImBS selects high-confidence samples from each class as sampling anchors using a two-layer graph neural classification network, enhancing the representativeness of the anchors. Next, to make the distribution of generated samples more reasonable, this paper utilizes the obtained confusion matrix from the previous step to calculate the distribution ratio of misclassified instances in the minority class. Based on this distribution ratio, an adaptive computation of the number of generated samples among different classes is proposed. Building upon this, a hybrid oversampling method based on anchors is introduced. It oversamples boundary nodes by blending dissimilar anchor features, aiming to increase sample diversity and expand the decision boundary of the minority class. Additionally, to prevent the generation of harmful connections, this paper introduces a personalized PageRank method for neighborhood distribution of oversampled samples. The application of machine learning algorithms across various fields is gaining momentum, and the results increasingly emphasize the need for further testing and implementation. This is driven by the potential to streamline and expedite numerous processes. In this paper, we have employed five algorithms: KNN, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Logistic Regression, and Naive Bayes, and these algorithms have been tested in three large datasets. On average, their performance ranges from a minimum of 80% to a maximum of 90%. Data preprocessing has been completed, and concurrently, we have implemented the SMOTE algorithm to address the challenge of unbalanced data in this research. Simultaneously, the Naïve Bayes algorithm yields the most favorable results of Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1 Score, for the "is_arrested" class. Furthermore, to assess the performance of each algorithm, we employed metrics including Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1 Score. In this modern era, people are working hard to meet their physical needs and non-effective their ability to spend time for themselves which leads to physical stress and mental disorder. Many reports state that stroke is caused when blood flow to a part of the brain is stopped abruptly. Without the blood supply, the brain cells gradually die, and disability occurs depending on the area of the brain affected. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke is the greatest cause of death and disability globally. Early recognition of the various warning signs of a stroke can help reduce the severity of the stroke. In this research work, with the aid of machine learning (ML), several algorithms has been used and evaluated for the long term risk prediction of stroke occurrence. We have collected datasets to analyze data and mining using 8 algorithms of machine learning to predict whether the patient suffers from stroke or not. This paper used a dataset retrieved from kaggle repository, which consists of 12 attributes (Features). This work is implemented using K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Naïve Bayes (NB), Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (TD), Neural Network (NN) and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB) algorithms. Coordinated cyber-physical attacks (CCPAs) are dangerously stealthy and have considerable destructive effects against power grids. The problem of stealthy CCPA (SCCPA) localization, specifically identifying disconnected lines in attack, is a nonlinear multi-classification problem. To the best of our knowledge, only one paper has studied the problem; nevertheless, the total number of classifications is not appropriate. In the paper, we propose several methods to solve the problem of SCCPA localization. Firstly, considering the practical constraints and abiding by one of our previous studies, we elaborately determine the total number of classifications and design an approach for generating training and testing datasets. Secondly, we develop two algorithms to solve multiple classifications via the support vector machine (SVM) and random forest (RF), respectively. Similarly, we also present a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) architecture. Finally, extensive simulations are carried out for IEEE 14-bus, 30-bus, and 118-bus power system, respectively, and we verify the effectiveness of our approaches in solving the problem of SCCPA localization. With the increasing demand for high-resolution images, handling high-dimensional image data has become a key aspect of intelligence algorithms. One effective approach is to preserve the high-dimensional manifold structure of the data and find the accurate mappings in a lower-dimensional space. However, various non-sparse, high-energy occlusions in real-world images can lead to erroneous calculations of sample relationships, invalidating the existing distance-based manifold dimensionality reduction techniques. Many types of noise are difficult to capture and filter in the original domain but can be effectively separated in the frequency domain. Inspired by this idea, a novel approach is proposed in this paper, which obtains the high-dimensional manifold structure according to the correlationships between data points in the frequency domain and accurately maps it to a lower-dimensional space, named Frequency domain-based Manifold Dimensionality Reduction (FMDR). In FMDR, samples are first transformed into frequency domains. Then, interference is filtered based on the distribution in the frequency domain, thereby emphasizing discriminative features. Subsequently, an innovative kernel function is proposed for measuring the similarities between samples according to the correlationships in the frequency domain. With the assistance of these correlationships, a graph structure can be constructed and utilized to find the mapping in a low-dimensional space. To further demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, FMDR is employed for the semi-supervised classification problems in this paper. Experiments using public image datasets indicate that, compared to baseline algorithms and state-of-the-art methods, our approach achieves superior recognition performance. Even with very few labeled data, the advantages of FMDR are still maintained. Currently, complex scene classification strategies are limited to high-definition image scene sets, and low-quality scene sets are overlooked. Although a few studies have focused on artificially noisy images or specific image sets, none have involved actual low-resolution scene images. Therefore, designing classification models around practicality is of paramount importance. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a two-stage classification optimization algorithm model based on MPSO, thus achieving high-precision classification of low-quality scene images. Firstly, to verify the rationality of the proposed model, three groups of internationally recognized scene datasets were used to conduct comparative experiments with the proposed model and 21 existing methods. It was found that the proposed model performs better, especially in the 15-scene dataset, with 1.54% higher accuracy than the best existing method ResNet-ELM. Secondly, to prove the necessity of the pre-reconstruction stage of the proposed model, the same classification architecture was used to conduct comparative experiments between the proposed reconstruction method and six existing preprocessing methods on the seven self-built low-quality news scene frames. The results show that the proposed model has a higher improvement rate for outdoor scenes. Finally, to test the application potential of the proposed model in outdoor environments, an adaptive test experiment was conducted on the two self-built scene sets affected by lighting and weather.
