- Abstract
Chapter X of the book "Autobiography of Andrew Dickson White," Volume I, is presented. It highlights the author's view on Horace Greeley: his speech on his return from a tour in the Southern States of the U.S., on the rumors about his candidacy for the Presidency, and his discussion of national affairs. It reflects on the death of Samuel Joseph May, a man who had exercised a happiest influence on the author's opinion, in 1871. It explores the author's experience of "Reconstruction" in the South.
