VERSTEHEN ,TOUGHNESS (Personality trait) ,PSYCHOLOGY ,ENTERTAINING ,PATHOLOGY ,DIAGNOSIS - Abstract
When we talk about a difficult person we usually mean special "thick heads", simple, stubborn, stupid with whom no mental and social understanding can be achieved. Such a difficult person, familiar to ordinary psychology, is almost always in opposition with other people. In this case psychology's preoccupation with the nature of the difficult man is cut down by the intervention of medicine for it is clear that the irremediable spirit of opposition must be related to pathology. Diagnosis here is easy and absolute. This is the element of the crude reason of the mentally and spiritually underdeveloped man who is at the same time searching for the social application of his nature. Unfortunately however only the obvious "thick heads" who "do not understand anything" cannot be isolated in this category. And we cannot entertain any illusions that we can immediately pick out the difficult man by the anthropological marks on his head or by the remarks in his school papers. If that is the case social harmony would probably be very grateful to be able in this way to clinically recognize the spirit of the difficult person and thereby intercept that person's social communication. Unfortunately, the element of "toughness" too often retroacts precisely in the fortress of apparently positive characters, hiding there from clinical observation under the shadow of some adherence to principles.
