The paper deals with bilingual nomenclature on railway lines in Zaolzie region. This paper deals with the process of introducing bilingual (Czech-Polish) signs on the railway in Zaolzie region. It conducts a survey of the current situation of the Polish national minority and the approach of Polish organizations, mainly the Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic (Kongres Polaków w Republice Czeskiej), to bilingualism. The work deals with the theoretical aspects of bilingualism in the Czech Republic, for example the conditions under which bilingual signs are introduced. However, the most important is the practical part, which describes the introduction of bilingualism at railway stations. The work also deals with other areas where Polish is used - e.g. timetables, train announcements at stations… It also tries to draw attention to the problems with the introduction of bilingualism, which persist to this day. This review article is devoted to the 2021 book by K. Kovářová "Hydronymy of the Ostravice River basin. Names of rivers, streams, ponds and wells" based on her doctoral thesis of 2019. This is the first systematic Czech monograph of a particular river basin, although in this case a relatively small one. The paper outlines, discusses and tries to improve the main shortcomings of the work concerning both documentation (important source publications were left out of consideration, especially Polish ones) and the etymological interpretation of several items which in fact require more profound insights into Slavic onomastics. Czech society is one of the most eurosceptic in the European Union. One of the reasons is a low degree of trust in authority (government, parliament) in general, also at the supranational level. Consequently, Czech political parties have eurosceptic slogans in their programs that do not prevent voters from supporting them, both in the elections to the Czech and European Parliaments. The political system is dominated by parties presenting the so- called „soft euroscepticism” (according to Taggart's and Szczerbiak's approach), such as: Action of Dissatisfied Citizens (ANO 2011), Civic Democratic Party (ODS) or Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM). In the 2017 election, they received a total of almost 50% of the vote. However, euroscepticism is not a threat to the Czech presence in the EU. International comparisons of innovation performance of industrialised countries place Poland much below the average European level, behind such countries as: Slovakia, Czech Republic or Slovenia. It is worth analysing what policies and tools are used by those, who achieve much better scores than Poland. Five countries - regularly acquiring the position of innovation leaders -are designated here as models: Sweden, Finland, Germany, United Kingdom and Denmark. In each case the article examines the level of expenses on research and development, organisational structure of conducting and coordinating research, channels of distribution of innovation methods and instruments stimulating innovation.
