This article presents a pioneering mathematical model, fuzzy bipolar hypersoft (FBHS) sets, which combines the bipolarity of parameters with the fuzziness of data. Motivated by the need for a comprehensive framework capable of addressing uncertainty and variability in complex phenomena, our approach introduces a novel method for representing both the presence and absence of parameters through FBHS sets. By employing two mappings to estimate positive and negative fuzziness levels, we bridge the gap between bipolarity, fuzziness, and parameterization, allowing for more realistic simulations of multifaceted scenarios. Compared to existing models like bipolar fuzzy hypersoft (BFHS) sets, FBHS sets offer a more intuitive and user-friendly approach to modeling phenomena involving bipolarity, fuzziness, and parameterization. This advantage is underscored by a detailed comparison and a practical example illustrating FBHS sets' superiority in modeling such phenomena. Additionally, this paper provides an in-depth exploration of fundamental FBHS set operations, highlighting their robustness and applicability in various contexts. Finally, we demonstrate the practical utility of FBHS sets in problem-solving and introduce an algorithm for optimal object selection based on available information sets, further emphasizing the advantages of our proposed framework. Emerging technology selection is crucial for enterprise integration, driving innovation, competitiveness, and streamlining operations across diverse sectors like finance and healthcare. However, the decision-making process for technology adoption is often complex and fraught with uncertainties. Bipolar fuzzy sets offer a nuanced representation of uncertainty, allowing for simultaneous positive and negative membership degrees, making them valuable in decision-making and expert systems. In this paper, we introduce dynamic averaging and dynamic geometric operators under bipolar fuzzy environment. We also establish some of the fundamental crucial features of these operators. Moreover, we present a step by step mechanism to solve MADM problem under bipolar fuzzy dynamic aggregation operators. In addition, these new techniques are successfully applied for the selection of the most promising emerging technology for enterprise integration. Recently, studies on early-exit mechanisms have emerged to reduce the computational cost during the inference process of deep learning models. However, most existing early-exit architectures simply determine early exiting based only on a target confidence level in the prediction, without any consideration of the computational cost. Such an early-exit criterion fails to balance accuracy and cost, making it difficult to use in various environments. To address this problem, we propose a novel, cost-effective early-exit architecture in which an early-exit criterion is designed based on the Markov decision process (MDP). Since the early-exit decisions within an early-exit model are sequential, we model them as an MDP problem to maximize accuracy as much as possible while minimizing the computational cost. Then, we develop a cost-effective early-exit algorithm using reinforcement learning that solves the MDP problem. For each input sample, the algorithm dynamically makes early-exit decisions considering the relative importance of accuracy and computational cost in a given environment, thereby balancing the trade-off between accuracy and cost regardless of the environment. Consequently, it can be used in various environments, even in a resource-constrained environment. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that our proposed architecture can effectively balance the trade-off in different environments, while the existing architectures fail to do so since they focus only on reducing their cost while preventing the degradation of accuracy. We study the problem of solving consensus in synchronous directed dynamic networks, in which communication is controlled by an oblivious message adversary that picks the communication graph to be used in a round from a fixed set of graphs D arbitrarily. In this fundamental model, determining consensus solvability and designing efficient consensus algorithms is surprisingly difficult. Enabled by a decision procedure that is derived from a well-established previous consensus solvability characterization for a given set D , we study, for the first time, the time complexity of solving consensus in this model: We provide both upper and lower bounds for this time complexity, and also relate it to the number of iterations required by the decision procedure. Among other results, we find that reaching consensus under an oblivious message adversary can take exponentially longer than both deciding consensus solvability and broadcasting the input value of some unknown process to all other processes. When integrating AI tools in healthcare settings, complex interactions between technologies and primary users are not always fully understood or visible. This deficient and ambiguous understanding hampers attempts by healthcare organizations to adopt AI/ML, and it also creates new challenges for researchers to identify opportunities for simplifying adoption and developing best practices for the use of AI-based solutions. Our study fills this gap by documenting the process of designing, building, and maintaining an AI solution called SepsisWatch at Duke University Health System. We conducted 20 interviews with the team of engineers and scientists that led the multi-year effort to build the tool, integrate it into practice, and maintain the solution. This "Algorithm Journey Map" enumerates all social and technical activities throughout the AI solution's procurement, development, integration, and full lifecycle management. In addition to mapping the "who?" and "what?" of the adoption of the AI tool, we also show several 'lessons learned' throughout the algorithm journey maps including modeling assumptions, stakeholder inclusion, and organizational structure. In doing so, we identify generalizable insights about how to recognize and navigate barriers to AI/ML adoption in healthcare settings.
