The aim of this paper is to introduce and assess three algorithms for the identification of overlapping thematic structures in networks of papers. We implemented three recently proposed approaches to the identification of overlapping and hierarchical substructures in graphs and applied the corresponding algorithms to a network of 492 information-science papers coupled via their cited sources. The thematic substructures obtained and overlaps produced by the three hierarchical cluster algorithms were compared to a content-based categorisation, which we based on the interpretation of titles, abstracts, and keywords. We defined sets of papers dealing with three topics located on different levels of aggregation: h-index, webometrics, and bibliometrics. We identified these topics with branches in the dendrograms produced by the three cluster algorithms and compared the overlapping topics they detected with one another and with the three predefined paper sets. Because of the No Free Lunch (NFL) rule, we are still under the way developing new algorithms and improving the capabilities of the existed algorithms. Under consideration of the simple and steady convergence capability of the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) and the fast convergence rate of the Harris Hawk optimization (HHO) algorithms, we hereby propose a new hybridization algorithm of the SCA and HHO algorithm in this paper, called the CSCAHHO algorithm henceforth. The energy parameter is introduced to balance the exploration and exploitation procedure for individuals in the new swarm, and chaos is introduced to improve the randomness. Updating equations is redefined and combined of the equations in the SCA and HHO algorithms. Simulation experiments on 27 benchmark functions and CEC 2014 competitive functions, together with 3 engineering problems are carried out. Comparisons have been made with the original SCA, HHO, Archimedes optimization algorithm (AOA), Seagull optimization algorithm (SOA), Sooty Tern optimization algorithm (STOA), Arithmetic optimizer (AO) and Chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA). Simulation experiments on either unimodal or multimodal, benchmark or CEC2014 functions, or real engineering problems all verified the better performance of the proposed CSAHHO, such as faster convergence rate, low residual errors, and steadier capability. While the classical knapsack problem has been the object to be solved by optimization algorithm proposals for many years, another version of this problem, discounted {0-1} knapsack problem, is gaining a lot of attention recently. The original knapsack problem requires selecting specific items from an item set to maximize the total benefit while ensuring that the total weight does not exceed the knapsack capacity. Meanwhile, discounted {0-1} knapsack problem has more stringent requirements in which items are divided into groups, and only up to one item from a particular group can be selected. This constraint, which does not exist in the original knapsack problem, makes discounted {0-1} knapsack problem even more challenging. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm based on salp swarm algorithm in the form of four different variants to resolve the discounted {0-1} knapsack problem. In addition, we also make use of an effective data modeling mechanism and a greedy repair operator that helps overcome local optima when finding the global optimal solution. Experimental and statistical results show that our algorithm is superior to currently available algorithms in terms of solution quality, convergence, and other statistical criteria. Multiscale geometric analysis (MGA) is not only characterized by multi-resolution, time-frequency localization, multidirectionality and anisotropy, but also outdoes the limitations of wavelet transform in representing high-dimensional singular data such as edges and contours. Therefore, researchers have been exploring new MGA-based image compression standards rather than the JPEG2000 standard. However, due to the difference in terms of the data structure, redundancy and decorrelation between wavelet and MGA, as well as the complexity of the coding scheme, so far, no definitive researches have been reported on the MGA-based image coding schemes. In addressing this problem, this paper proposes an image data compression approach using the hidden Markov model (HMM)/pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN) model in the contourlet domain. First, a sparse decomposition of an image was performed using a contourlet transform to obtain the coefficients that show the multiscale and multidirectional characteristics. An HMM was then adopted to establish links between coefficients in neighboring subbands of different levels and directions. An Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm was also adopted in training the HMM in order to estimate the state probability matrix, which maintains the same structure of the contourlet decomposition coefficients. In addition, each state probability can be classified by the PCNN based on the state probability distribution. In the case of a fire, the choice of exit in the highway tunnel is strictly limited by fire location, which seriously affects the evacuation time. A spontaneous or disorderly exit choice might result in a decreased evacuation efficiency and utilization rate of exits. In this paper, we propose a strategy to obtain the optimal exit choice based on fire location during highway tunnel evacuations. In our strategy, first, the vehicle distributions and locations of evacuating occupants are determined in the traffic simulation program VISSIM. The evacuation simulation software BuildingEXODUS is employed to obtain the corresponding parameters of the evacuation process and analyze the impacts of different fire locations on the evacuation time. During the analysis, the optimal productivity statistics (OPS) is selected as the evaluation index. Then, the feature points of the crowding occupants are captured by the fuzzy c-means (FCM) cluster algorithm. Next, based on the feature points, the relationship between the location of the fire and boundary of the optimal exit choice under the optimal OPS is obtained through the polynomial regression model. It is found that the R-squared(R2) and sum of squares for error (SSE) of the polynomial regression model, reflecting the accuracy estimation, are 98.02% and 2.79×10−4, respectively. Moreover, different fire locations impact the evacuation time of tunnel entrance and evacuation passageway. This paper shows that the location of the fire and boundary of optimal exit choice have a negative linear correlation. Taking the fire 110 m away from the evacuation passageway as an example, the OPS of our strategy can be decreased by 35.6% when compared with no strategies. Feature selection is an important task in big data analysis and information retrieval processing. It reduces the number of features by removing noise, extraneous data. In this paper, one feature subset selection algorithm based on damping oscillation theory and support vector machine classifier is proposed. This algorithm is called the Maximum Kendall coefficient Maximum Euclidean Distance Improved Gray Wolf Optimization algorithm (MKMDIGWO). In MKMDIGWO, first, a filter model based on Kendall coefficient and Euclidean distance is proposed, which is used to measure the correlation and redundancy of the candidate feature subset. Second, the wrapper model is an improved grey wolf optimization algorithm, in which its position update formula has been improved in order to achieve optimal results. Third, the filter model and the wrapper model are dynamically adjusted by the damping oscillation theory to achieve the effect of finding an optimal feature subset. Therefore, MKMDIGWO achieves both the efficiency of the filter model and the high precision of the wrapper model. Experimental results on five UCI public data sets and two microarray data sets have demonstrated the higher classification accuracy of the MKMDIGWO algorithm than that of other four state-of-the-art algorithms. This paper asks whether algorithm traders (AT) mitigate insider trading profits in the Thai stock market over the period of 2010–2016. We find that in general it does but not in the case of buy side, big trades nor the executive trades. Our findings suggest that, to some extent, AT can take important role to increase an efficiency in stock market by processing the public information and incorporating it into price at ultra-fast speed. As the amounts of data and use of distributed systems for data storage and processing have increased, reducing the number of replications has turned into a crucial requirement in these systems, which has been addressed by plenty of research. In this paper, an algorithm has been proposed to reduce the number of replications in big data transfer and, eventually to lower the traffic load over the grid by classifying data efficiently and optimally based on the sent data types and using VIKOR as a method of multivariate decision-making for ranking replication sites. Considering different variables, the VIKOR method makes it possible to take all the parameters effective in the assessment of site ranks into account. According to the results and evaluations, the proposed method has exhibited an improvement by about thirty percent in average over the LRU, LFU, BHR, and Without Rep. algorithms. Furthermore, it has improved the existing multivariate methods through different approaches to replication by thirty percent, as it considers effective parameters such as time, the number of replications, and replication site, causing replication to occur when it can make an improvement in terms of access. Map-matching technology is a key and difficult technology in the development of vehicle navigation systems. Only by correctly identifying the road segment on which the vehicle is traveling can the navigation system make the right decision. At the same time, the complexity of the road network structure and a variety of error factors have introduced great challenges to map matching and have attracted the attention of many researchers as well. This paper analyzes various map-matching algorithms, determines that the key to the matching performance is the junction matching, performs an in-depth study on the junction-matching problem, and puts forward the junction decision domain model. The model mainly involves information regarding the width of the road segment, the angle between two road segments, the accuracy of GPS and the accuracy of the road network. In this paper, we use this model to improve the map-matching algorithm based on a hidden Markov model (HMM). The experimental results show that the improved matching algorithm can effectively reduce the error rate of junction matching and improve the matching performance of a navigation system. This paper, based on differential privacy protecting K-means clustering algorithm, realizes privacy protection by adding data-disturbing Laplace noise to cluster center point. In order to solve the problem of Laplace noise randomness which causes the center point to deviate, especially when poor availability of clustering results appears because of small privacy budget parameters, an improved differential privacy protecting K-means clustering algorithm was raised in this paper. The improved algorithm uses the contour coefficients to quantitatively evaluate the clustering effect of each iteration and add different noise to different clusters. In order to be adapted to the huge number of data, this paper provides an algorithm design in MapReduce Framework. Experimental finding shows that the new algorithm improves the availability of the algorithm clustering results under the condition of ensuring individual privacy without significantly increasing its operating time. Recently, computational Grids have proven to be a good solution for processing large-scale, computation intensive problems. However, the heterogeneity, dynamics of resources and diversity of applications requirements have always been important factors affecting their performance. In response to these challenges, this work first builds a Grid job scheduling architecture that can dynamically monitor Grid computing center resources and make corresponding scheduling decisions. Second, a Grid job model is proposed to describe the application requirements. Third, this paper studies the characteristics of commercial interconnection networks used in Grids and forecast job transmission time. Fourth, this paper proposes an application-aware job scheduling mechanism (AJSM) that includes periodic scheduling flow and a heuristic application-aware deadline constraint job scheduling algorithm. The rigorous performance evaluation results clearly demonstrate that the proposed application-aware job scheduling mechanism can successful schedule more Grid jobs than the existing algorithms. Political redistricting is the redrawing of electoral district boundaries. It is normally undertaken to reflect population changes. The process can be abused, in what is called gerrymandering, to favor one party or interest group over another, resulting thereby in broadly undemocratic outcomes that misrepresent the views of the voters. Gerrymandering is especially vexing in the United States. This paper introduces an algorithm, with an implementation, for creating districting plans (whether for political redistricting or for other districting applications). The algorithm, Seed-Fill-Shift-Repair (SFSR), is demonstrated for Congressional redistricting in American states. SFSR is able to create thousands of valid redistricting plans, which may then be used as points of departure for public deliberation regarding how best to redistrict a given polity. The main objectives of this paper are: (i) to present SFSR in a broadly accessible form, including code that implements it and test data, so that it may be used for both civic deliberations by the public and for research purposes. (ii) to make the case for what SFSR essays to do, which is to approach redistricting, and districting generally, from a constraint satisfaction perspective and from the perspective of producing a plurality of feasible solutions that may then serve in subsequent deliberations. To further these goals, we make the code publicly available. The paper presents, for illustration purposes, a corpus of 11,206 valid redistricting plans for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (produced by SFSR), using the 2017 American Community Survey, along with descriptive statistics. Also, the paper presents 1,000 plans for each of the states of Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, using the 2018 American Community Survey, along with descriptive statistics on these plans and the computations involved in their creation. This research dealt with the problem of scheduling applied to the supercomputer's execution. The goal is to develop an appreciated algorithm that schedules a group of several programs characterized by their time consuming very high on different supercomputers searching for an efficient assignment of the total running time. This efficient assignment grantees the fair load distribution of the execution on the supercomputers. The essential goal of this research is to propose several algorithms that can ensure the load balancing of the execution of all programs. In this research, all supercomputers are assumed to have the same hardware characteristics. The main objective is to minimize the gap between the total running time of the supercomputers. This minimization of the gap encompasses the development of novel solutions giving planning of the executable programs. Different algorithms are presented to minimize the gap in running time. The experimental study proves that the developed algorithms are efficient in terms of performance evaluation and running time. A comparison between the presented algorithms is discussed through different classes of instances where in total the number of instances reached 630. The experiments show that the efficient algorithm is the best-programs choice algorithm. Roads are important for many urban planning applications, such as traffic modelling and delivery vehicle routing. At present, most available datasets represent roads only as centrelines. This is particularily true for OpenStreetMap which provides, among many features, road networks at worldwide coverage. Furthermore, most approaches for creating more detailed networks, such as carriageways or lanes, focus on doing so from sources that are not easy to acquire, such as satellite imagery or LiDAR scans. In this paper we present a methodology to create carriageways based on OpenStreetMap's centrelines and open access areal representations (i.e. polygons) to determine which roads should be represented as two individual carriageways. We applied our methodology in five areas across four different countries with different built environments. We analysed the outcome in a delivery routing problem to evaluate the validity of our results. Our results suggest that this method can be effectively applied to create carriageways anywhere in the world, as long as there is sufficient coverage by OpenStreetMap and an areal representation dataset of roads. Path planning plays an essential role in mobile robot navigation, and the A* algorithm is one of the best-known path planning algorithms. However, the traditional A* algorithm has some limitations, such as slow planning speed, close to obstacles. In this paper, we propose an improved A*-based algorithm, called the EBS-A* algorithm, that introduces expansion distance, bidirectional search, and smoothing into path planning. The expansion distance means keeping an extra space from obstacles to improve path reliability by avoiding collisions. Bidirectional search is a strategy searching path from the start node and the goal node simultaneously. Smoothing improves path robustness by reducing the number of right-angle turns. In addition, simulation tests for the EBS-A* algorithm are performed, and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by transferring it to a robot operating system (ROS). The experimental results show that compared with the traditional A* algorithm, the proposed algorithm improves the path planning efficiency by 278% and reduces the number of critical nodes by 91.89% and the number of right-angle turns by 100%. Active Queue Management (AQM) is recommended by Internet Engineering Task Force to mitigate the bufferbloat phenomenon in the Internet. In this paper, we show the results of comprehensive measurements carried out in our university network, in which a device with an AQM algorithm, designed and programmed for this purpose, was running. The implemented AQM algorithm was based on the dropping function, i.e. arriving packets were dropped randomly, with the probability being a function of the queue length. Several different dropping function forms, proposed in the networking literature, were used, in addition to the classic FIFO queue (no AQM). The experiment lasted over a month, during which the state of the network was measured and recorded several thousand times. This made the results independent of the natural fluctuations of the users' behavior and the network load. Conclusions on the general performance improvement offered by the implemented AQM, as well as the differences in the performance between particular forms of the dropping function, were reached. Some of these conclusions differ from those drawn previously from simulations. Identifying protein complexes in protein-protein interaction (ppi) networks is often handled as a community detection problem, with algorithms generally relying exclusively on the network topology for discovering a solution. The advancement of experimental techniques on ppi has motivated the generation of many Gene Ontology (go) databases. Incorporating the functionality extracted from go with the topological properties from the underlying ppi network yield a novel approach to identify protein complexes. Additionally, most of the existing algorithms use global measures that operate on the entire network to identify communities. The result of using global metrics are large communities that are often not correlated with the functionality of the proteins. Moreover, ppi network analysis shows that most of the biological functions possibly lie between local neighbours in ppi networks, which are not identifiable with global metrics. In this paper, we propose a local community detection algorithm, (lcda-go), that uniquely exploits information of functionality from go combined with the network topology. lcda-go identifies the community of each protein based on the topological and functional knowledge acquired solely from the local neighbour proteins within the ppi network. Experimental results using the Krogan dataset demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms in most cases state-of-the-art approaches in assessment based on Precision, Sensitivity, and particularly Composite Score. We also deployed lcda, the local-topology based precursor of lcda-go, to compare with a similar state-of-the-art approach that exclusively incorporates topological information of ppi networks for community detection. This research proposes a new multi-membrane search algorithm (MSA) based on cell biological behavior. Cell secretion protein behavior and cell division and fusion strategy are the main inspirations for the algorithm. In order to verify the performance of the algorithm, we used 19 benchmark functions to compare the MSA test results with MVO, GWO, MFO and ALO. The number of iterations of each algorithm on each benchmark function is 100, the population number is 10, and the running is repeated 50 times, and the average and standard deviation of the results are recorded. Tests show that the MSA is competitive in unimodal benchmark functions and multi-modal benchmark functions, and the results in composite benchmark functions are all superior to MVO, MFO, ALO, and GWO algorithms. This paper also uses MSA to solve two classic engineering problems: welded beam design and pressure vessel design. The result of welded beam design is 1.7252, and the result of pressure vessel design is 5887.7052, which is better than other comparison algorithms. Statistical experiments show that MSA is a high-performance algorithm that is competitive in unimodal and multimodal functions, and its performance in compound functions is significantly better than MVO, MFO, ALO, and GWO algorithms. Fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm is one of the typical clustering algorithms in data mining applications. However, due to the sensitive information in the dataset, there is a risk of user privacy being leaked during the clustering process. The fuzzy C-means clustering of differential privacy protection can protect the user's individual privacy while mining data rules, however, the decline in availability caused by data disturbances is a common problem of these algorithms. Aiming at the problem that the algorithm accuracy is reduced by randomly initializing the membership matrix of fuzzy C-means, in this paper, the maximum distance method is firstly used to determine the initial center point. Then, the gaussian value of the cluster center point is used to calculate the privacy budget allocation ratio. Additionally, Laplace noise is added to complete differential privacy protection. The experimental results demonstrate that the clustering accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are higher than baselines under the same privacy protection intensity. Reducing energy consumption has become a critical issue in today data centers. Reducing the number of required physical and Virtual Machines results in energy-efficiency. In this paper, to avoid the disadvantages of VM migration, a static VM placement algorithm is proposed which places VMs on hosts in a Worst-Fit-Decreasing (WFD) fashion. To reduce energy consumption further, the effect of job scheduling policy on the number of VMs needed for maintaining QoS requirements is studied. Each VM is modeled by an M/M/* queue in space-shared, time-shared, and hybrid job scheduling policies, and energy consumption of real-time as well as non-real-time applications is analyzed. Numerical results show that the hybrid policy outperforms space-shared and time-shared policies, in terms of energy consumption as well as Service Level Agreement (SLA) violations. This paper proposes a new chaotic image encryption algorithm. Firstly, an original phased composite chaotic map is used. The comparative study shows that the map cryptographic characteristics are better than the Logistic map, and the map is used as the controller of Fisher-Yates scrambling. Secondly, with the higher complexity of the fractional-order five-dimensional cellular neural network system, it is used as a diffusion controller in the encryption process. And mix the secret key, mapping and plaintext, we can obtain the final ciphertext. Topological changes like sliding motion, sources and sinks are a significant challenge in image registration. This work proposes the use of the alternating direction method of multipliers as a general framework for constraining the registration of separate objects with individual deformation fields from overlapping in image registration. This constraint is enforced by introducing a collision detection algorithm from the field of computer graphics which results in a robust divide and conquer optimization strategy using Free-Form Deformations. A series of experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework performs superior with regards to the combination of intersection prevention and image registration including synthetic examples containing complex displacement patterns. The results show compliance with the non-intersection constraints while simultaneously preventing a decrease in registration accuracy. Furthermore, the application of the proposed algorithm to the DIR-Lab data set demonstrates that the framework generalizes to real data by validating it on a lung registration problem. Background: Timely detection of cleaning failure is critical for quality assurance within Sterilising Service Units (SSUs). Rapid Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) testing provides a real time and quantitative indication of cellular contaminants, when used to measure surface or device cleanliness. The aim of this study was to investigate the use of an ATP algorithm and to whether it could be used as a routine quality assurance step, to monitor surgical instruments cleanliness in SSUs prior to sterilisation. Methods: Cleanliness monitoring using rapid ATP testing was undertaken in the SSUs of four hospitals located in the western (Amazonia) region of Brazil. ATP testing was conducted (Clean Trace, 3M) on 163 surgical instruments, following manual cleaning. A sampling algorithm using a duplicate swab approach was applied to indicate surgical instruments as (i) very clean, (ii) clean, (iii) equivocal or (iv) fail, based around a 'clean' cut-off of 250 Relative Light Units (RLU) and a 'very clean' <100 RLU. Results: The four cleanliness categories were significantly differentiated (P≤0.001). The worst performing locations (hospitals A & C) had failure rates of 39.2% and 32.4%, respectively, and were distinctly different from hospitals B & D (P≤0.001). The best performing hospitals (B & D) had failure rates of 7.7% and 2.8%, respectively. Conclusion: The ATP testing algorithm provides a simple to use method within SSUs. The measurements are in real time, quantitative and useful for risk-based quality assurance monitoring, and the tool can be used for staff training. The four-tiered approach to the grading of surgical instrument cleanliness provides a nuanced approach for continuous quality improvement within SSU than does a simple pass/fail methodology. In August 2020, the UK government and regulation body Ofqual replaced school examinations with automatically computed A Level grades in England and Wales. While previous work used NLP-based opinion mining computational linguistic tools to analyse this discourse, shortcomings included accuracy issues, difficulties in interpretation and limited conclusions on who authors blamed. Thus, we chose to complement this research by analysing 18,239 tweets relating to the A Level algorithm using Corpus Linguistics (CL) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), underpinned by social actor representation. We examined how blame was attributed to different entities who were presented as social actors or having social agency. Through analysing transitivity in this discourse, we found the algorithm itself, the UK government and Ofqual were all implicated as potentially responsible as social actors through active agency, agency metaphor possession and instances of passive constructions. According to our results, students were found to have limited blame through the same analysis. We discuss how this builds upon existing research where the algorithm is implicated and how such a wide range of constructions obscure blame. Methodologically, we demonstrated that CL and CDA complement existing NLP-based computational linguistic tools in researching the 2020 A Level algorithm; however, there is further scope for how these approaches can be used in an iterative manner. Prediction of stock price has been a hot topic in artificial intelligence field. Computational intelligent methods such as machine learning or deep learning are explored in the prediction system in recent years. However, making accurate predictions of stock price direction is still a big challenge because stock prices are affected by nonlinear, nonstationary, and high dimensional features. In previous works, feature engineering was overlooked. How to select the optimal feature sets that affect stock price is a prominent solution. Hence, our motivation for this article is to propose an improved many-objective optimization algorithm integrating random forest (I-NSGA-II-RF) algorithm with a three-stage feature engineering process in order to decrease the computational complexity and improve the accuracy of prediction system. Maximizing accuracy and minimizing the optimal solution set are the optimization directions of the model in this study. The integrated information initialization population of two filtered feature selection methods is used to optimize the I-NSGA-II algorithm, using multiple chromosome hybrid coding to synchronously select features and optimize model parameters. Finally, the selected feature subset and parameters are input to the RF for training, prediction, and iterative optimization. Experimental results show that the I-NSGA-II-RF algorithm has the highest average accuracy, the smallest optimal solution set, and the shortest running time compared to the unmodified multi-objective feature selection algorithm and the single target feature selection algorithm. The independent component analysis (ICA) based methods are among the most prevalent techniques used for non-invasive fetal electrocardiogram (NI-fECG) processing. Often, these methods are combined with other methods, such adaptive algorithms. However, there are many variants of the ICA methods and it is not clear which one is the most suitable for this task. The goal of this study is to test and objectively evaluate 11 variants of ICA methods combined with an adaptive fast transversal filter (FTF) for the purpose of extracting the NI-fECG. The methods were tested on two datasets, Labour dataset and Pregnancy dataset, which contained real records obtained during clinical practice. The efficiency of the methods was evaluated from the perspective of determining the accuracy of detection of QRS complexes through the parameters of accuracy (ACC), sensitivity (SE), positive predictive value (PPV), and harmonic mean between SE and PPV (F1). The best results were achieved with a combination of FastICA and FTF, which yielded mean values of ACC = 83.72%, SE = 92.13%, PPV = 90.16%, and F1 = 91.14%. Time of calculation was also taken into consideration in the methods. Although FastICA was ranked to be the sixth fastest with its mean computation time of 0.452 s, it had the best ratio of performance and speed. The combination of FastICA and adaptive FTF filter turned out to be very promising. Author-supplied citations are a fraction of the related literature for a paper. The "related citations" on PubMed is typically dozens or hundreds of results long, and does not offer hints why these results are related. Using noun phrases derived from the sentences of the paper, we show it is possible to more transparently navigate to PubMed updates through search terms that can associate a paper with its citations. The algorithm to generate these search terms involved automatically extracting noun phrases from the paper using natural language processing tools, and ranking them by the number of occurrences in the paper compared to the number of occurrences on the web. We define search queries having at least one instance of overlap between the author-supplied citations of the paper and the top 20 search results as citation validated (CV). When the overlapping citations were written by same authors as the paper itself, we define it as CV-S and different authors is defined as CV-D. For a systematic sample of 883 papers on PubMed Central, at least one of the search terms for 86% of the papers is CV-D versus 65% for the top 20 PubMed "related citations." We hypothesize these quantities computed for the 20 million papers on PubMed to differ within 5% of these percentages. Averaged across all 883 papers, 5 search terms are CVD, and 10 search terms are CV-S, and 6 unique citations validate these searches. Potentially related literature uncovered by citation-validated searches (either CV-S or CV-D) are on the order of ten per paper - many more if the remaining searches that are not citation-validated are taken into account. Under the background of excess capacity and energy saving in iron and steel enterprises, the hot rolling batch scheduling problem based on energy saving is a multi-objective and multi constraint optimization problem. In this paper, a hybrid multi-objective prize-collecting vehicle routing problem (Hybrid Price Collect Vehicle Routing Problem, HPCVRP) model is established to ensure minimum energy consumption, meet process rules, and maximize resource utilization. A two-phase Pareto search algorithm (2PPLS) is designed to solve this model. The improved MOEA/D with a penalty based boundary intersection distance (PBI) algorithm (MOEA/D-PBI) is introduced to decompose the HPCVRP in the first phase. In the second phase, the multi-objective ant colony system (MOACS) and Pareto local search (PLS) algorithm is used to generate approximate Pareto-optimal solutions. The final solution is then selected according to the actual demand and preference. In the simulation experiment, the 2PPLS is compared with five other algorithms, which shows the superiority of 2PPLS. Finally, the experiment was carried out on actual slab data from a steel plant in Shanghai. The paper is concerned with the consensus problem in a multi-agent system such that each agent has boundary constraints. Classical Olfati-Saber's consensus algorithm converges to the same value of the consensus variable, and all the agents reach the same value. These algorithms find an equality solution. However, what happens when this equality solution is out of the range of some of the agents? In this case, this solution is not adequate for the proposed problem. In this paper, we propose a new kind of algorithms called supportive consensus where some agents of the network can compensate for the lack of capacity of other agents to reach the average value, and so obtain an acceptable solution for the proposed problem. Supportive consensus finds an equity solution. In the rest of the paper, we define the supportive consensus, analyze and demonstrate the network's capacity to compensate out of boundaries agents, propose different supportive consensus algorithms, and finally, provide some simulations to show the performance of the proposed algorithms. In recent years, China's e-commerce industry has developed at a high speed, and the scale of various industries has continued to expand. Service-oriented enterprises such as e-commerce transactions and information technology came into being. This paper analyzes the shortcomings and challenges of traditional online shopping behavior prediction methods, and proposes an online shopping behavior analysis and prediction system. The paper chooses linear model logistic regression and decision tree based XGBoost model. After optimizing the model, it is found that the nonlinear model can make better use of these features and get better prediction results. In this paper, we first combine the single model, and then use the model fusion algorithm to fuse the prediction results of the single model. The purpose is to avoid the accuracy of the linear model easy to fit and the decision tree model over-fitting. The results show that the model constructed by the article has further improvement than the single model. Finally, through two sets of contrast experiments, it is proved that the algorithm selected in this paper can effectively filter the features, which simplifies the complexity of the model to a certain extent and improves the classification accuracy of machine learning. Focusing on the problem incurred during particle swarm optimization (PSO) that tends to fall into local optimization when solving Nash equilibrium solutions of games, as well as the problem of slow convergence when solving higher order game pay off matrices, this paper proposes an improved Predator-Prey particle swarm optimization (IPP-PSO) algorithm based on a Predator-Prey particle swarm optimization (PP-PSO) algorithm. First, the convergence of the algorithm is advanced by improving the distribution of the initial predator and prey. By improving the inertia weight of both predator and prey, the problem of "precocity" of the algorithm is improved. By improving the formula used to represent particle velocity, the problems of local optimizations and slowed convergence rates are solved. By increasing pathfinder weight, the diversity of the population is increased, and the global search ability of the algorithm is improved. Then, by solving the Nash equilibrium solution of both a zero-sum game and a non-zero-sum game, the convergence speed and global optimal performance of the original PSO, the PP-PSO and the IPP-PSO are compared. Simulation results demonstrated that the improved Predator-Prey algorithm is convergent and effective. The convergence speed of the IPP-PSO is significantly higher than that of the other two algorithms. In the simulation, the PSO does not converge to the global optimal solution, and PP-PSO approximately converges to the global optimal solution after about 40 iterations, while IPP-PSO approximately converges to the global optimal solution after about 20 iterations. This paper presents the design of a Built-in-self-Test (BIST) implemented Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cryptoprocessor Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). AES has been proved as the strongest symmetric encryption algorithm declared by USA Govt. and it outperforms all other existing cryptographic algorithms. Its hardware implementation offers much higher speed and physical security than that of its software implementation. Due to this reason, a number of AES cryptoprocessor ASIC have been presented in the literature, but the problem of testability in the complex AES chip is not addressed yet. This research introduces a solution to the problem for the AES cryptoprocessor ASIC implementing mixed-mode BIST technique, a hybrid of pseudo-random and deterministic techniques. The BIST implemented ASIC is designed using IEEE industry standard Hardware Description Language(HDL). It has been simulated using Electronic Design Automation (EDA)tools for verification and validation using the input-output data from the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) of the USA Govt. The simulation results show that the design is working as per desired functionalities in different modes of operation of the ASIC. One of the significant challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT) is the provisioning of guaranteed security and privacy, considering the fact that IoT devices are resource-limited. Oftentimes, in IoT applications, remote users need to obtain real-time data, with guaranteed security and privacy, from resource-limited network nodes through the public Internet. For this purpose, the users need to establish a secure link with the network nodes. Though the IPv6 over low-power wireless personal area networks (6LoWPAN) adaptation layer standard offers IPv6 compatibility for resource-limited wireless networks, the fundamental 6LoWPAN structure ignores security and privacy characteristics. Thus, there is a pressing need to design a resource-efficient authenticated key exchange (AKE) scheme for ensuring secure communication in 6LoWPAN-based resource-limited networks. This paper proposes a resource-efficient secure remote user authentication scheme for 6LoWPAN-based IoT networks, called SRUA-IoT. SRUA-IoT achieves the authentication of remote users and enables the users and network entities to establish private session keys between themselves for indecipherable communication. To this end, SRUA-IoT uses a secure hash algorithm, exclusive-OR operation, and symmetric encryption primitive. We prove through informal security analysis that SRUA-IoT is secured against a variety of malicious attacks. We also prove the security strength of SRUA-IoT through formal security analysis conducted by employing the random oracle model. Additionally, we prove through Scyther-based validation that SRUA-IoT is resilient against various attacks. Searching similar pictures for a given picture is an important task in numerous applications, including image recommendation system, image classification and image retrieval. Previous studies mainly focused on the similarities of content, which measures similarities based on visual features, such as color and shape, and few of them pay enough attention to semantics. In this paper, we propose a link-based semantic similarity search method, namely PictureSim, for effectively searching similar pictures by building a picture-tag network. The picture-tag network is built by "description" relationships between pictures and tags, in which tags and pictures are treated as nodes, and relationships between pictures and tags are regarded as edges. Then we design a TF-IDF-based model to removes the noisy links, so the traverses of these links can be reduced. We observe that "similar pictures contain similar tags, and similar tags describe similar pictures", which is consistent with the intuition of the SimRank. Consequently, we utilize the SimRank algorithm to compute the similarity scores between pictures. Compared with content-based methods, PictureSim could effectively search similar pictures semantically. Public key encryption with equality test enables the user to determine whether two ciphertexts contain the same information without decryption. Therefore, it may serve as promising cryptographic technique for cloud-assisted wireless sensor networks (CWSNs) to maintain data privacy. In this paper, an efficient RSA with equality test algorithm is proposed. The presented scheme also handles the attackers based on their authorization ability. Precisely, the proposed scheme is proved to be one-way against chosen-ciphertext attack security and indistinguishable against chosen ciphertext attacks. Moreover, the experimental evaluations depict that the underlying scheme is efficient in terms of encryption, decryption, and equality testing. Sanitary landfill is an important way of municipal solid waste disposal. However, due to the restriction of social, environmental and economic conditions, landfill site selection has become a very challenging task. In addition, landfill site selection is full of uncertainty and complexity due to the lack of cognitive ability of decision-makers and the existence of uncertain information in the decision-making process. Therefore, a novel multi-attribute decision making method based on q-rung orthopair probabilistic hesitant fuzzy power weight Muirhead mean operator is proposed in this paper, which can solve the problem of landfill site selection well. This method uses probability to represent the hesitance of decision maker and retains decision information more comprehensively. The negative effect of abnormal data on the decision result is eliminated by using the power average operator. Muirhead mean operator is used to describe the correlation between attributes. Then, an example of landfill site selection is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the advantages of the proposed method are illustrated by parameter analysis and comparative analysis. Measurements of the physical outputs of speech—vocal tract geometry and acoustic energy—are high-dimensional, but linguistic theories posit a low-dimensional set of categories such as phonemes and phrase types. How can it be determined when and where in high-dimensional articulatory and acoustic signals there is information related to theoretical categories? For a variety of reasons, it is problematic to directly quantify mutual information between hypothesized categories and signals. To address this issue, a multi-scale analysis method is proposed for localizing category-related information in an ensemble of speech signals using machine learning algorithms. By analyzing how classification accuracy on unseen data varies as the temporal extent of training input is systematically restricted, inferences can be drawn regarding the temporal distribution of category-related information. The method can also be used to investigate redundancy between subsets of signal dimensions. Two types of theoretical categories are examined in this paper: phonemic/gestural categories and syntactic relative clause categories. Moreover, two different machine learning algorithms were examined: linear discriminant analysis and neural networks with long short-term memory units. Both algorithms detected category-related information earlier and later in signals than would be expected given standard theoretical assumptions about when linguistic categories should influence speech. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has led to a rapidly growing 'infodemic' of health information online. This has motivated the need for accurate semantic search and retrieval of reliable COVID-19 information across millions of documents, in multiple languages. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a novel high precision and high recall neural Multistage BiCross encoder approach. It is a sequential three-stage ranking pipeline which uses the Okapi BM25 retrieval algorithm and transformer-based bi-encoder and cross-encoder to effectively rank the documents with respect to the given query. We present experimental results from our participation in the Multilingual Information Access (MLIA) shared task on COVID-19 multilingual semantic search. The independently evaluated MLIA results validate our approach and demonstrate that it outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches according to nearly all evaluation metrics in cases of both monolingual and bilingual runs. Increasing traffic congestion and the advancements in technology have fostered the growth of alternative transportation modes such as dynamic ride-sharing. Smartphone technologies have enabled dynamic ride-sharing to thrive, as this type of transportation aims to establish ride matches between people with similar routes and schedules on short notice. Many automated matching methods are designed to improve system performance; such methods include minimizing process time, minimizing total system cost or maximizing total distance savings. However, the results may not provide the maximum benefits for the participants. This paper intends to develop an algorithm for optimizing matches when considering participants' gender, age, employment status and social tendencies. The proposed matching algorithm also splits unmatched parts of drivers' routes and creates new travel requests to find additional matches using these unmatched parts. Accordingly, this paper performs an extensive simulation study to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results indicate that route splits may increase the number of matches significantly when there is a shortage of drivers. In this paper, a novel 3D roaming algorithm considering collision detection and interaction is proposed that adopts a triangle mesh to organize and manage massive spatial data and uses a customized bounding box intersector to rapidly obtain the potential collided triangles. The proposed algorithm can satisfy the requirements of timeliness and practicability during complicated large 3D scene collision detection. Moreover, we designed a method to calculate the collision point coordinates according to the spatial position relation and distance change between the virtual collision detection sphere and triangles, with the triangle edges and three vertices being considered. Compared to the methods that use the native intersector of OpenSceneGraph (OSG) to obtain the collision point coordinates, the calculation efficiency of the proposed method is greatly improved. Usually, when there is a big split/pit in the scene, the viewpoints will fly off the scene due to the fall of the collision detection sphere, or the region interior cannot be accessed when the entrance of some local region (e.g., internal grotto) of the scene is too small. These problems are solved in this paper through 3D scene-path training and by self-adaptively adjusting the radius of the virtual collision detection sphere. The proposed 3D roaming and collision detection method applicable for massive spatial data overcomes the limitation that the existing roaming and collision detection methods are only applicable to 3D scenes with a small amount of data and simple models. Past research on the process of extinguishing a fire typically used a traditional linear water jet falling point model and the results ignored external factors, such as environmental conditions and the status of the fire engine, even though the water jet falling point location prediction was often associated with these parameters and showed a nonlinear relationship. This paper constructed a BP (Back Propagation) neural network model. The fire gun nozzle characteristics were included as model inputs, and the water discharge point coordinates were the model outputs; thus, the model could precisely predict the water discharge point with small error and high precision to determine an accurate firing position and allow for the timely adjustment of the spray gun. To improve the slow convergence and local optimality problems of the BP neural network (BPNN), this paper further used a genetic algorithm to optimize the BPNN (GA-BPNN). The BPNN can be used to optimize the weights in the network to train them for global optimization. A genetic algorithm was introduced into the neural network approach, and the water jet landing prediction model was further improved. The simulation results showed that the prediction accuracy of the GA-BP model was better than that of the BPNN alone. Open source software has been widely used in various industries due to its openness and flexibility, but it also brings potential security problems. Therefore, security analysis is required before using open source software. The current mainstream open source software vulnerability analysis technology is based on source code, and there are problems such as false positives, false negatives and restatements. In order to solve the problems, based on the further study of behavior feature extraction and vulnerability detection technology, a method of using dynamic behavior features to detect open source software vulnerabilities is proposed. Firstly, the relationship between open source software vulnerability and API call sequence is studied. Then, the behavioral risk vulnerability database of open source software is proposed as a support for vulnerability detection. In addition, the CNN-IndRNN classification model is constructed by improving the Independently Recurrent Neural Net-work (IndRNN) algorithm and applies to open source software security vulnerability detection. Image encryption is an effective method for protecting private images during communication. In this paper, a novel image encryption method is proposed based on a 5D hyperchaotic system. Since a 5D hyperchaotic system can generate more complex dynamic behavior than a low-dimensional system, it is used in this paper to generate pseudorandom number sequences. The generated sequences are processed to obtain new sequences. The randomness of the new sequences is improved by recombination and rearrangement. The experimental results and theoretical analysis show that the method possesses a large key space and can resist differential attacks, statistical analysis, entropy analysis, clipping attacks and noise attacks. In the EMO (evolutionary multi-objective, EMO) algorithm, MaOPs (many objective optimization problems, MaOPs) are sometimes difficult to keep the balance of convergence and diversity. The decomposition based EMO developed for MaOPs has been proved to be effective, and BBO/Complex (the biogeography based optimization for complex system, BBO/Complex) algorithm is a low complexity algorithm. In this paper, a decomposition and adaptive weight adjustment based BBO/Complex algorithm (DAWA-BBO/Complex) for MaOPs is proposed. First, a new method based on crowding distance is designed to generate a set of weight vectors with good uniformly. Second, an adaptive weight adjustment method is used to solve MaOPs with complex Pareto optimal front. Subsystem space obtains a non-dominated solution by a new selection strategy. The experimental results show that the algorithm is superior to other new algorithms in terms of convergence and diversity in DTLZ benchmark problems. Finally, the algorithm is used to solve the problem of NC (numerical control machine, NC) cutting parameters, and the final optimization result is obtained by AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP) method. The results show that the cutting speed is 10.8m/min, back cutting depth is 0.13mm, the cutting time is 504s and the cutting cost is 22.15yuan. In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm for point cloud registration in presence of low overlap rate and high noise. The proposed registration method mainly includes four parts: the loop voxel filtering, the curvature-based key point selection, the robust geometric descriptor, and the determining and optimization of correspondences based on key point spatial relationship. The loop voxel filtering filters point clouds to a specified resolution. We propose a key point selection algorithm which has a better anti-noise and fast ability. The feature descriptor of key points is highly exclusive which is based on the geometric relationship between the neighborhood points and the center of gravity of the neighborhood. The correspondences in the pair of two point clouds are determined according to the combined features of key points. Finally, the singular value decomposition and ICP algorithm are applied to align two point clouds. The proposed registration method can accurately and quickly register point clouds of different resolutions in noisy situations. We validate our proposal by presenting a quantitative experimental comparison with state-of-the-art methods. In the field of Differential Evolution (DE), a number of measures have been used to enhance algorithm. However, most of the measures need revision for fitting ensemble of different combinations of DE operators—ensemble DE algorithm. Meanwhile, although ensemble DE algorithm may show better performance than each of its constituent algorithms, there still exists the possibility of further improvement on performance with the help of revised measures. In this paper, we manage to implement measures into Ensemble of Differential Evolution Variants (EDEV). Firstly, we extend the collecting range of optional external archive of JADE—one of the constituent algorithm in EDEV. Then, we revise and implement the Event-Triggered Impulsive (ETI) control. Finally, Linear Population Size Reduction (LPSR) is used by us. Then, we obtain Improved Ensemble of Differential Evolution Variants (IEDEV). In our experiments, good performers in the CEC competitions on real parameter single objective optimization among population-based metaheuristics, state-of-the-art DE algorithms, or up-to-date DE algorithms are involved. The article concerns the problem of evacuation from passenger ships. It is important because it has not yet been possible to eliminate all the hazards associated with sea travel. In this paper, a concept of a method allowing to determine the arrangement of evacuation routes, for which evacuation time would be minimal, was presented. The genetic algorithm method was used in the calculations, and an original method of coding the considered problem was proposed. Sample calculations were performed to verify the correctness of the proposed algorithm. The Sine-Cosine algorithm (SCA) is a population-based metaheuristic algorithm utilizing sine and cosine functions to perform search. To enable the search process, SCA incorporates several search parameters. But sometimes, these parameters make the search in SCA vulnerable to local minima/maxima. To overcome this problem, a new Multi Sine-Cosine algorithm (MSCA) is proposed in this paper. MSCA utilizes multiple swarm clusters to diversify & intensify the search in-order to avoid the local minima/maxima problem. Secondly, during update MSCA also checks for better search clusters that offer convergence to global minima effectively. To assess its performance, we tested the MSCA on unimodal, multimodal and composite benchmark functions taken from the literature. Experimental results reveal that the MSCA is statistically superior with regards to convergence as compared to recent state-of-the-art metaheuristic algorithms, including the original SCA.
