The article presents information on sources related to the works of writer Leslie Stephen. The archives of Trinity Hall in Cambridge, England contain a number of Stephen items, few of which are noted in existing historical, biographical and critical studies. The autograph manuscript of "Swift," published in 1882 in the "English Men of Letters" series, is unbound and consists of 169 heavily corrected leaves, and is evidently an early draft of the final version. The autograph manuscript of "Life of Henry Fawcett" is bound in two volumes and consists of 562 leaves, again heavily corrected by Stephen, and with marks indicating that this was the printer's copy.

The article presents some lines of Middle English verse from one of the Cambridge University Library fragments. These fragments consist of four leaves with writing on both sides--all in the same hand, which is an "anglicana" of the third or fourth quarter of the fourteenth century--and are now labeled a/b, c/d, e/f, g/h respectively. The incidence of missing sequences of the texts, by comparison with other available versions, and in relation to the hypothetically available number of lines in the fragments raises baffling difficulties.

The article reports that English author Samuel Rogers Johnson's subscription list has a new addition. This is "Poems on Various Occasions," by Reverend S. Rogers, 2 volumes, Bath, 1782. In a sixteen page subscription list the name of 'Johnson, Samuel, L.L.D.' is to be found last under the letter J (vol. 1, p. 25)--a position that suggests it was a last-minute addition or afterthought. The details of his academic and ecclesiastical career, shows that he was a Bedfordshire man, educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, England.
