This paper proposes on-driving experience sharing algorithms at junctions in infrastructure-assisted vehicles-to-everything networks. For the purpose, a millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is used because it provides multi-Gbps data rates which is helpful for handling users’ short stay times at junctions and spatial reuse due to high beam directionality which is helpful for interference-avoidance among densely deployed vehicles at junctions. To realize on-driving experience sharing, the proposed algorithms focus on joint resource allocation and scheduling for 3GPP-compliant multiple unicast vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications where the vehicles are group leaders (GLs) in 3GPP Mode 4(d). The resource allocation stands for the roadside unit (RSU) allocation to scheduled V2V GL links where RSU is essentially required for overcoming blockage by establishing two-hop relaying. Because vehicles stay for short times at junctions, this paper designs two algorithms without or with delay considerations. Without delay considerations, the joint optimization of RSU allocation and scheduling was originally formulated as mixed 0-1 non-convex optimization. However our proposed algorithm reformulates the problem into mixed 0-1 convex optimization, which is computationally easier to solve. With delay considerations, our proposed algorithm dynamically controls video contents frame rates for time-average on-driving video sharing quality maximization subject to delay constraints, inspired by Lyapunov optimization. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that our algorithms can significantly outperform in a variety of scenarios. Cooperative Vehicle-Infrastructure System (CVIS) can provide innovative services for traffic management and enable trips to be safer, more coordinated, and smarter. In the CVIS, the vehicles upload crowd sensing data to the Vehicular Edge Computing (VEC) server for quick data fusion and informed decision-making. However, with the ever-increasing number of vehicles, the VEC server cannot undertake massive computation-intensive tasks due to the limited edge computing capabilities. In this paper, we propose a reverse offloading framework that can fully utilize the vehicular computation resource to relieve the burden of the VEC server and further reduce the system latency. Under the proposed offloading framework, the binary reverse offloading (BRO) and partial reverse offloading (PRO) strategies are designed for two types of tasks, i.e., non-partitioned tasks and partitioned tasks. We formulate the system latency minimization problem by optimizing reverse offloading decisions, and the communication and computation resources allocation. Due to the non-convex and existing variables coupling, the original problem is transformed into the equivalent weighted-sum optimization problem. Based on the alternative optimization, we decouple the weighted-sum optimization problems into the two subproblems, and the closed-form expressions of transmission power and computation frequency of vehicles and RSU are derived. Low complexity greedy based efficient searching (GES) algorithm and joint alternative optimization based bi-section searching (JAOBSS) algorithm are proposed for BRO and PRO strategies, respectively. The algorithm complexity and performance bounds are analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed GES algorithm can achieve optimal performance with low complexity. This paper studies a novel design of user pairing and resource allocation in a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system with coexisting power-splitting (PS) and time-switching (TS) users. In this system, near NOMA users (NUs) that are close to a source can assist the communications between the source and far NOMA users (FUs) using the energy harvested by either PS or TS strategy. The design aims to maximize the sum-rate of the system by optimizing user pairing and power allocation between NUs and FUs as well as performing PS and TS control at NUs, while guaranteeing the target data rates and the minimum harvested energy requirements of users. Since the joint design is formulated as a non-convex mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problem that is challenging to tackle, we propose a two-step user pairing and resource allocation algorithm. Specifically, we decouple the original problem into an inner resource allocation problem and an outer user pairing problem. For the inner problem, we propose successive convex approximation (SCA) and block coordinate descent (BCD)-based algorithms to perform power allocation as well as PS and TS control iteratively, with the algorithms’ convergence being theoretically proved. By exploiting the characteristics of the outer problem of user pairing, this problem is well tackled by the Hungarian algorithm. With the advancement of the next generation of cellular systems, flexible mechanisms for Discontinuous Reception (DRX) are needed in order to save energy. 5G will bring heterogeneous packet sizes and traffic types, as well as an increasing need for energy efficiency. The current static DRX mechanism is inadequate to meet these needs. In this paper we exploit channel prediction to develop integer programming models. We aim to minimize the energy usage of user devices while streaming video, as well as to create extended sleep opportunities, while simultaneously preventing buffer underflows. We also develop an online algorithm to obtain an efficient solution robust to prediction errors. Our results show that using a variable DRX cycle length can reduce the energy usage by up to 60 percent and 40 percent, in the offline and online cases, respectively, compared with a static DRX configuration. Our proposed online algorithm can also reduce the number of buffer underflows by up to 97 percent compared to the offline case. Modern vehicular applications are resource-intensive and have different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. In this direction, Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) has emerged as a new paradigm to host such applications in the cloud. In this paper, we extend the VCC paradigm to include federation, wherein the data centers from multiple cloud providers are pooled in to support applications that can not be supported in a single provider. We address the problem of dynamic resource allocation in a federated vehicular cloud. We propose a dynamic resource pricing model for sharing resources between the cloud providers, based on which we formulate resource allocation as an optimization problem. The objective is to minimize the cost of the vehicular service provider while meeting the delay bounds of different vehicular applications, for which a cost and delay-aware, polynomial-time algorithm is proposed. We evaluate the proposed algorithm under different scenarios to show that exploiting federation brings great benefits for the service providers and end-users alike. The proposed algorithm is seen to meet the delay requirements with a significant cost reduction to the provider up to 50% compared to baseline methods. In order to help user terminal devices (UTDs) efficiently handle computation-intensive and time-delay sensitive computing task, multi-access edge computing (MEC) has been proposed. However, due to the differences among the performance of UTDs, and the resource limitation of MEC servers, the joint optimization between the offloading decisions of UTDs and the allocation of resources in network is still a focus of the research. This paper studies the joint computation offloading and resource allocation strategy in multi-user and multi-server scenarios. Firstly, we formulate the joint optimization problem of computation offloading and resource allocation as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINP) problem to minimize the energy consumption of UTDs, by constraining the offloading decision, channel selection, power allocation and resource allocation. Secondly, we propose a two-stage heuristic optimization algorithm based on genetic algorithms, which divides the joint optimization problem of computation offloading and resource allocation in two stages. Based on the coupling relationship between the offloading decision and the resource allocation scheme, we iteratively update the solution of the problem, and finally obtain the stable convergence solution of the optimization problem. In this paper, we study an UAV base station (UBS) assisted cellular network that consists of a single ground macro base station (MBS), multiple UBSs, and multiple ground terminals. We assume that the MBS transmits to the UBSs and the terminals in the licensed band while the UBSs use a separate unlicensed band (e.g., Wi-Fi) to transmit to the terminals. For the utilization of the UBSs, we propose a cooperative decode–forward (DF) protocol in which multiple UBSs assist the terminals simultaneously while maintaining a predetermined interference level on the coexisting unlicensed band users. For our network setup, we formulate a joint optimization problem for minimizing the aggregate gap between the target rates and the throughputs of terminals by optimizing over the 3D positions of the UBSs and the resources (power, time, bandwidth) of the network. To solve the optimization problem, we propose an efficient nested structured algorithm based on particle swarm optimization and convex optimization methods. The application of network slicing to mobile edge computing (MEC) systems has aroused great interests from both academia and industry. However, the optimization of network slicing and MEC in most existing research works only focuses on resource slicing, energy scheduling, and power allocation from the perspective of mobile devices, without considering the operator's revenue. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for network slicing in MEC systems, including slice request admission and a revenue model, to investigate the operator's revenue escalation problem while considering traffic variations. The revenue model is mainly composed of the longer-term revenue and short-term revenue. Particularly, we jointly optimize slice request admission in the long-term and resource allocation in the short-term to maximize the operator's average revenue. By employing the Lyapunov optimization technique, we develop an algorithm without requiring any prior-knowledge of traffic distributions, referred to as the DNSRA, to solve the problem. To reduce the computational complexity of directly solving the DNSRA, we decouple the optimization variables for efficient algorithm design. By this, the strategies for user association and CPU-cycle frequency are obtained in closed forms, respectively. Power allocation and subcarriers assignment are obtained by employing the successive convex approximation approach. Meanwhile, we develop a heuristic algorithm to obtain the dynamic slice request admission decision. Simulation results show that the proposed DNSRA can strike a flexible balance between the average revenue and the average delay, and can significantly increase the operator's revenue against existing schemes. Energy efficiency (EE) and spectrum efficiency (SE) have received significant attentions on optimizing the network performance in cognitive radio networks. In this paper, an EE+SE tradeoff based target is considered for the primary users (PUs) and the secondary users (SUs). First of all, considering the orthogonal frequency division multiple access-based resource allocation (RA) for the underlying SUs, we formulate an objective function through minimizing a weighted sum of the secondary interference power, where the network performance of both PUs and SUs are guaranteed by the constraints on quality of service, power consumption and data rate. However, it is a NP-hard problem. In order to solve it, we propose a damped three dimensional (D3D) message-passing algorithm (MPA) based on deep learning. Specifically, a feed-forward neural network is devised and an analogous back propagation algorithm is developed to learn the optimal parameters of the D3D-MPA. To improve the computational efficiency of the allocation and the learning, a suboptimal RA scheme is deduced based on a damped two dimensional MPA. In this paper, we study energy-efficient power allocation in distributed antenna systems (DASs). Unlike previous works that assumed perfect channel-state information (CSI) at the transmitter, we investigate a more practical case, where only the slowly varying large-scale CSI is known, to reduce the system overhead for CSI acquisition. Under a generalized DAS model, the power allocation problem for energy-efficiency (EE) maximization is formulated as a nonconvex fractional programming problem. Using the random matrix theory, the nonlinear fractional programming theory, and the saddle-point theory, we propose an iterative algorithm that achieves the global optimal solution. We also show that deploying the antennas in a distributed manner may enlarge the region where the optimal EE and the optimal spectral efficiency (SE) can be simultaneously achieved. Multistream carrier aggregation (MSCA) is a promising technique to boost data rates by enabling users to connect with multiple base stations (BSs) simultaneously. In this paper, we investigate joint user association and resource allocation for MSCA systems to achieve energy efficiency (EE) balance among different BSs. We aim at maximizing the weighted summation of EE values for different BSs, which is modeled as a nonconvex combinatorial sum-of-ratios optimization problem. To develop an upper bound algorithm, we first relax the combinatorial variables and then transform the problem into a series of convex optimization problems by the successive convex approximation (SCA) method. We also propose a low-complexity suboptimal algorithm, which divides the original optimization problem into two steps: user association and channel allocation, as well as power allocation. Caching and transcoding at multi-access edge computing (MEC) server and wireless resource allocation in eNodeB interact with each other and together determine the quality of experience (QoE) of dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) clients. However, the relationship among the three factors has not been explored, which has led to limited improvement in clients’ QoE. Therefore, we propose a joint optimization framework of video segment caching and transcoding in MEC servers and resource allocation to improve the QoE of DASH clients. Based on the established framework, we develop an MEC caching management mechanism that consists of the MEC caching partition, video segment deletion, and MEC caching space transfer. Then, a joint optimization algorithm that combines the video segment caching and transcoding in the MEC server and resource allocation is proposed. In the algorithm, the clients’ channel state and the playback status and cooperation among MEC servers are employed to estimate the client's priority, video segment representation switch and continuous playback time. Considering the above four factors, we develop a utility function model of clients’ QoE. Then, we formulate a mixed-integer nonlinear programming mathematical model to maximize the total utility of DASH clients, where the video segment caching and transcoding strategy and resource allocation strategy are jointly optimized. To solve this problem, we propose a low-complexity heuristic algorithm that decomposes the original problem into multiple subproblems. In this correspondence, we study a tethered unmanned aerial vehicle (TUAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) system, in which tasks of several ground mobile users (MUs) are served by ground edge cloud (GEC) with superior computing capability and poor communication links and TUAV-mounted cloudlet with lower computing capability and better communication links. We aim to minimize weighted-sum system delay of MUs by jointly optimizing TUAV position, time slot allocation, and task splitting ratio. We first decompose the optimization problem into three subproblems, and then to solve non-convex subproblem related to TUAV position, we reformulate it by the first-order Taylor series approximation and apply the successive convex approximation (SCA) method. Then, we tackle the overall problem by applying the alternative optimization algorithm. Rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) and reinforcement-learning (RL) based user clustering are leveraged to manage interference of a downlink fog radio access network. In particular, clustering of the user devices (UDs) is considered. The UDs of a given cluster can receive data from a certain fog access point (F-AP) over the same radio resource blocks (RRBs) simultaneously. To this end, RSMA enabled data transmission is exploited at each UD cluster. To manage intra-cluster and inter-cluster interference of the network, we focus on the resource allocation to maximize the sum-rate and to minimize total transmission power of the F-APs in each transmission slot. Towards this goal, we optimize jointly the F-APs’ transmit power allocation for RSMA enabled data transmission, clustering of UDs, and assignment of RRBs among the F-APs. The proposed optimization problem is NP-hard, and as a result, a global optimal solution is computationally intractable even with the centralized implementation. To obtain an efficient solution without having the global network information, the proposed optimization problem is decomposed into two sub-problems, namely, UD clustering and resource allocation among the F-APs. Specifically, the UD clusters are obtained by applying a multi-agent RL technique, and the resource allocation among the F-APs is obtained by applying the fractional programming, Lagrangian duality, and alternating optimization techniques. A distributed user clustering-power allocation-RRB assignment (UC-PA-RA) algorithm is proposed, and its convergence to the near-optimal solution is proved. In the area of energy-efficient (EE) resource allocation, only limited work has been done on consideration of both transmitter and receiver energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a novel EE resource-allocation scheme for orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) networks, where both transmitter energy consumption and receiver energy consumption are considered. In addition, different quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, including minimum-rate guarantee service and best effort service, are taken into account. The time slot, subcarrier (frequency), and power-allocation policies are jointly considered to optimize system EE. With all these considerations, the EE resource-allocation problem is formulated as a mixed combinatorial and nonconvex optimization problem, which is extremely difficult to solve. To reduce the computational complexity, we tackle this problem in three steps. First, for a given power allocation, we obtain the time–frequency resource unit (RU) allocation policy via binary quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (BQPSO) algorithm. Second, under the assumption of known RU allocation, we transform the original optimization problem into an equivalent concave optimization problem and obtain the optimal power-allocation policy through the Lagrange dual approach. Third, an iteration algorithm is developed to obtain the joint time–frequency power–resource-allocation strategy. Joint scheduling and resource allocation in uplink orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is complicated and even becomes intractable with a large subcarrier and a large user number. This paper investigates the resource allocation for OFDM-based multiuser multiple-access relay channels (MARCs) with network coding. We formulate a joint optimization problem considering source-node pairing, subcarrier assignment, subcarrier pairing, and power allocation to maximize the sum rate under per-user power constraints. The problem is solved in polynomial time by optimizing three separate subproblems. To further reduce the complexity, three low-complexity suboptimal algorithms are then proposed when fixing partial resource. This article investigates the cache-enabling unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) cellular networks with massive access capability supported by non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). The delivery of a large volume of multimedia contents for ground users is assisted by a mobile UAV base station, which caches some popular contents for wireless backhaul link traffic offloading. In cache-enabling UAV NOMA networks, the caching placement of content caching phase and radio resource allocation of content delivery phase are crucial for network performance. To cope with the dynamic UAV locations and content requests in practical scenarios, we formulate the long-term caching placement and resource allocation optimization problem for content delivery delay minimization as a Markov decision process (MDP). The UAV acts as an agent to take actions for caching placement and resource allocation, which includes the user scheduling of content requests and the power allocation of NOMA users. In order to tackle the MDP, we propose a Q-learning based caching placement and resource allocation algorithm, where the UAV learns and selects action with soft ε-greedy strategy to search for the optimal match between actions and states. Since the action-state table size of Q-learning grows with the number of states in the dynamic networks, we propose a function approximation based algorithm with combination of stochastic gradient descent and deep neural networks, which is suitable for large-scale networks. Finally, the numerical results show that the proposed algorithms provide considerable performance compared to benchmark algorithms, and obtain a trade-off between network performance and calculation complexity. In this paper, the average rate maximization problem given transmission power constraints in a decode-and-forward (DF) relay network over slow fading channels is studied. For the problem, either a long- or short-term power constraint is imposed on the source and relays. In each combination of the power constraints at the source and relays, the original optimization problem is decomposed into subproblems, each corresponding to a specific channel gain realization. For each subproblem, a fast algorithm with closed-form solutions is provided. The case with additional peak power spectrum density constraints is also investigated. In this paper, we study joint performance optimization on network lifetime and video distortion for an energy-constrained wireless video sensor network (WVSN). To seek an appropriate tradeoff between maximum network lifetime and minimum video distortion, a framework for joint source/channel rate adaptation is proposed, where the video encoding rate, link rate, and power consumption are jointly considered, formulating a weighted convex optimization problem. In the context of lossy wireless channels, an efficient error control scheme that couples network coding and multipath routing is explored. Moreover, an integrated power consumption model, including power dissipation on video compression, error control, and data communication, is specifically developed for the video sensor node. By primal decomposition, the original problem is decomposed into a two-level optimization procedure, with the high-level procedure for source adaptation (source rate optimization) and the low-level procedure for channel adaptation (network resource allocation). Finally, a fully decentralized iterative algorithm is developed to resolve the target optimization problem. Aided by scalable video coding, multirate multicast has become a promising technique of providing differentiated quality of experience (QoE) for massive numbers of video subscribers operating in heterogeneous channel conditions. Nevertheless, due to the time-varying nature of wireless channels and the subscribers’ diverse requirements, it is challenging to dynamically control the video rate in the light of the available radio resource to achieve the best QoE. To elaborate a little further, the time scale of resource scheduling is of short-term nature, which determines the short-term video quality variation, but from a service provider's perspective the design objective is to optimize the long-term QoE for all subscribers. Despite its importance, this problem has not been considered before. Explicitly, we formulated this problem as a time-averaged stochastic optimization problem which avoids the impact of both the short-term channel quality fluctuation and that of the video bitrates, whilst maintaining both inter- and intra- group fairness. The stratified structure of the problem inspires us to decompose it into a two-phase optimization: coarse grained assignment for each user group and fine grained assignment for each subgroup. We propose an adaptive multicast algorithm based on Lyapunov's optimization theory for solving this problem, by striking a compelling trade-off between the system's utility and its queue stability. Energy-efficient communication is one of the most pertaining issues in realizing mobile edge computing (MEC) networks. How to effectively use non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to realize energy efficient MEC networks has been of high interest and calls for in-depth study. In particular, there has been yet no work to study the energy efficient communication scheme from system perspective in this area. In this work, we focus on the design of a system-centric computation energy efficiency (EE) scheme in a NOMA-based MEC network. The system computation EE is maximized by jointly optimizing the computing frequencies of the MEC server and the local users, the offloading time, the transmit powers of local users, as well as the execution time for the local users and the MEC server. Employing the fractional programming theory and introducing auxiliary variables, we develop an efficient Dinkelbach-based iterative scheme to tackle the formulated non-linear fractional programming problem. For obtaining instrumental insights, we further derive closed-form expressions for the partial solutions based on Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. Simulation results are provided to verify the quick convergence of the proposed iterative algorithm, to obtain insights, as well as to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed resource allocation scheme in terms of the system computation EE by comparing it with benchmark schemes. Slicing is a key technology in 5G networks to provide scalability and flexibility in allocating computing and communication resources among multiple tenants. Typically, 5G networks have a 2-tier architecture consisting of a central office and transport network in the upper tier and a multi-access edge and radio access network in the lower tier. The tenants which share the 2-tier architecture typically have different service-dependent resource requirements. This study proposes an algorithm, designated as Upper-tier First with Latency-bounded Over-provisioning Prevention (UFLOP), to adjust the capacity and traffic allocation in such a way as to minimize the “over-provisioning ratio” while still satisfying the latency constraints and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of the tenants. The performance of UFLOP is evaluated experimentally with a real testbed on an end-to-end slicing framework using three typical 5G services, namely Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra-Reliable Low Latency (URLLC), and massive Machine Type Connection (mMTC). It is shown that UFLOP successfully determines the critical traffic allocation ratio between the central office and the edge which achieves an over-provisioning ratio close to zero while still meeting the latency requirements. The results suggest optimal resource allocation ratios of 10:0, 1.5:8.5 and 7.8:2.2 for the eMBB, URLLC and mMTC applications, respectively. Furthermore, it is shown that the computing resource behaves as a bottleneck for the eMBB and mMTC services, while the communication resource serves as a bottleneck for the URLLC service. Joint channel and rate allocation with power minimization in orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) has attracted extensive attention. Most of the research has dealt with the development of suboptimal but low-complexity algorithms. In this paper, the contributions comprise new insights from revisiting tractability aspects of computing the optimum solution. Previous complexity analyses have been limited by assumptions of fixed power on each subcarrier or power-rate functions that locally grow arbitrarily fast. The analysis under the former assumption does not generalize to problem tractability with variable power, whereas the latter assumption prohibits the result from being applicable to well-behaved power-rate functions. As the first contribution, we overcome the previous limitations by rigorously proving the problem's NP-hardness for the representative logarithmic rate function. Next, we extend the proof to reach a much stronger result, namely, that the problem remains NP-hard, even if the channels allocated to each user are restricted to be a consecutive block with given size. We also prove that, under these restrictions, there is a special case with polynomial-time tractability. Then, we treat the problem class where the channels can be partitioned into an arbitrarily large but constant number of groups, each having uniform gain for every individual user. For this problem class, we present a polynomial-time algorithm and provide its optimality guarantee. In addition, we prove that the recognition of this class is polynomial-time solvable. In this paper, resource allocation for energy-efficient secure communication in an orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) downlink network is studied. The considered problem is modeled as a nonconvex optimization problem that takes into account the sum-rate-dependent circuit power consumption, multiple-antenna eavesdropper, artificial noise generation, and different quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, including a minimum required secrecy sum rate and a maximum tolerable secrecy outage probability. The power, secrecy data rate, and subcarrier allocation policies are optimized for maximization of the energy efficiency of secure data transmission (bit/joule securely delivered to the users). The considered nonconvex optimization problem is transformed into a convex optimization problem by exploiting the properties of fractional programming, which results in an efficient iterative resource allocation algorithm. In each iteration, the transformed problem is solved by using dual decomposition. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed iterative resource allocation algorithm not only converges in a small number of iterations but maximizes the system energy efficiency and guarantees a nonzero secrecy data rate for the desired users as well. In this paper, we investigate the problem of fair resource allocation based on the Nash bargaining solution (NBS) over wireless amplify-and-forward (AF) relay networks in which variable-rate users and constant-rate users coexist. Via the dual decomposition method, a distributed algorithm, including relay selection, relay power allocation, and rate adaptation, is proposed. When the number of users is large and/or the rate constraints are stringent, the problem becomes infeasible, and admission control is necessary. We formulate the admission control and fair resource allocation problem as a two-stage optimization problem, aiming to first find the maximal number of users the network can support with guaranteed rates and then allocate resources based on NBS for the admitted users. Since the problem is combinatorially hard, we transform it into an equivalent one-stage optimization problem, which can be solved by existing methods but with a higher computational complexity. To further reduce the computational complexity, a suboptimal algorithm is then developed. Simulations verify the convergence and fairness of the distributed algorithm. Cognitive radio (CR) has been proposed to improve spectral efficiency while avoiding interference with licensed users. In this paper, we propose a resource allocation (RA) algorithm to perform uplink frequency allocation and power allocation among noncooperative multicells with multiuser per cell in CR systems. The maximization of the total information rate of multiple users in one cell is considered for the Rayleigh channel with path loss subject to the power constraint on each user. Since the optimization formulation for rate maximization of multiple users in each cell is an integer optimization problem, the multiple access channel (MAC) technique is proposed. With the aid of MAC, the original integer optimization problem is transformed into a concave optimization problem, thereby establishing a distributed game model in which the base station of each cell, which tries to maximize the sum rate of its own users, is a player. The proposed game-theoretic algorithm for distributed multiuser power allocation is viewed as an extension of the iterative water-filling algorithm, which is applied to distributed single-user power allocation. From the perspective of effectiveness, the proposed game-theoretic algorithm based on the MAC technique is compared with the traditional algorithm based on frequency-division multiplexing access (FDMA). Efficient distributed resource allocation and users to cells assignment over a heterogeneous integrated wireless environment is addressed, where multiple-access technologies coexist and cooperate toward achieving network-wide quality-of-service (QoS)-aware utility-based performance optimization. The integrated network is viewed as a global optimizer under appropriate intracell resource allocation constraints. Multiaccess diversity is addressed by setting a user-centric service-aware goal, thus maximizing users' QoS-aware service performance satisfaction, as expressed through properly assigned utility functions. The integrated network utility maximization problem is treated through a two-level dual-decomposition methodology, leading to a low-complexity distributed iterative subgradient algorithm for attaining a network-wide near-optimal operation point. Extensive numerical results verify the analytical claims, demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework, and illustrate that significant performance gains can be achieved over popular existing resource allocation schemes.
