The present text brings discussions related to linguistic interactions in a digital environment. Particularly, this study reinforces that the appropriation of technological resources requires specific skills of reading practices in the computerized universe. To discuss this, we use as bibliographical reference authors such as Lévy (1999), who discusses cyberculture; Ribeiro (2009), with discussions on digital literacy; Kleiman (2014), about heterogeneous and dynamic language present in the virtual context in addition to Rojo (2013), Kress (2003, 2010), Kress, Leite-Garcia e Van Leeuwen (2000) with studies on multimodality field. We also mention debates about Applied Linguistics and interactivity and, finally, we present the description of a webpage Instagram seeking to expand the debate about linguistic interactions in the digital environment through social networks. - Abstract
Purpose: The present study analyzed how an organization justifies the launch of a technological resource for home-office, called the work capsule. Methodology: An instrumental case study was developed, which included the analysis of secondary data composed of videos, articles and documents. Main results: The analysis of the results showed that the focus of the materials related to the launch of the technological resource focused mainly on aspects that benefited the organization and its interests or on the benefits that technology represented for the worker, facing the challenges of remote work. Thus, two main categories emerged from the data analysis: When the home disturbs the office and control of the home(m) to guarantee the office. Practical contributions: a) Support the development of discussions and reflections on policies and legislation that impact the condition of workers in the face of the impetus of the neoliberal digital society. b) Unveil the behavior of a neoliberal organization that, in the face of the negative repercussion of the launch of technology, sought to camouflage its interests, but without dispelling its proposal, indicating a solution to a "new spirit of the home-office" Academic contributions: a) The constitution of a "new spirit of the home-office", which further blurs the nebulous boundaries between work and personal life, now reaching space and demanding new theoretical approaches. b) Advance in studies on technological affordances, pointing to the possibility of a new concept of "resources that monitor their own technological resources", characterizing technological surveillance resources, but of a second level. The situation of confinement as a result of the pandemic caused the educational process to reinvent alternatives of attention to the students, who have had to stay at home and who cannot lose the opportunity to be assisted in their learning process; In addition, the situation that deprives them of attending the classrooms, generated that the levels of academic insufficiency were growing, besides the difficulty to develop the class, due to the fact that some university students do not have the technological means to attend their academic responsibilities; added to this, there was the psychological affectation with the emergence of emotions that counteract the state of mind of the educational community. The present research work was proposed with the objective of analyzing the effects of the confinement established by the pandemic in the psycho-emotional aspect and in the development of university educational practices with the purpose of strengthening processes and strategies for the improvement of student learning; the work is located in a quantitative paradigm with a non-experimental approach, correlational type of research and an interpretative descriptive study on the affectation that the pandemic has caused in the development of the educational practice and the generation of emotions in the psychological and emotional aspect of the educational community; The existence of the enormous gap in access to new technologies, the little experience that teachers have in the use of these technologies, as well as the academic performance levels that are not as expected, the struggle between what is real and what is indispensable, in addition to the emotions of stress, anxiety and frustration that this confinement has generated, were verified. In March 2020, face-to-face classes in Mexico were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From that moment on, virtuality was the means that allowed the continuation of teaching and learning activities in higher education. Today, almost a year and a half after the beginning of this scheme of work, the educational authorities are preparing for the return to face-to-face teaching. However, it is not yet known when the necessary conditions will exist for this to fully occur. This article addresses various possible scenarios in the post-confinement era, as well as the acceptance that these would have in the university student community. Its objectives were to characterize student perceptions of classes after COVID-19 lockdown and to compare them according to educational program, academic period, and employment status. The research design was quantitative cross-sectional, non-experimental, exploratory-descriptive in scope. A total of 1395 students from five university programs (Administration, International Trade, Public Accountant, Law, Information Technology) participated and answered an online questionnaire. They were asked about their willingness to continue taking online or hybrid classes in different scenarios, as well as about the continued use of collaborative tools and the need to promote technological and information security skills, given the digital nature of remote education. Data analysis was performed with the SPSS package. Descriptive values were obtained and nonparametric statistical tests of differences between groups were performed. The results show that students value positively the power to decide to take a subject online or face-to-face. In either mode of post-pandemic work, students would agree to continue using MSTEAMS. On the other hand, the recording of sessions was well valued, as well as the possibility of reducing the cost of enrollment if the education were hybrid or online. Also, students would be willing to take their theoretical courses online. It was found that law students are less in agreement about continuing to take their theoretical subjects online and administration students are more in agreement. Also, administration students were more in agreement to continue using MSTEAMS. On the other hand, students in the last semesters are more in agreement to continue with online classes and resources compared to students in the first semesters. In the analysis by employment status, no differences were found. This paper provides an overview of the acceptability of various hypothetical post-pandemic scenarios and allows reflection on the learnings obtained with online education in the COVID-19 times and how these could enhance academic activities after confinement. - Abstract
Nowadays, education faces the challenge of teaching students to seek knowledge, developing mechanisms that favor learning and student autonomy. In this sense, it is understood that teaching strategies that promote metacognitive thinking can promote improvements in the teaching and learning processes. The purpose of this paper is to analyze how an activity guide script provided moments of manifestations of metacognitive thinking in engineering students. For this, a didactic proposal was developed in the classroom, where in groups, the students worked to solve the problem situations presented in the guide script, using experimental and technological resources. For data collection, audio and field diary recordings were made by the researchers, in addition to the metacognitive questionnaire applied at the end of the activity. The data analysis, based on the theoretical framework used to prepare the educational intervention, was carried out observing the following actions: the conduction of the activity, which included the way the activity was presented (guide script), the organization of the groups, the availability of resources, and the students' actions when facing the activity. In the results we can see that the group activity provided exchanges that contributed to metacognitive awareness; the materials provided allowed the students to observe and build upon the concepts explored; the stimuli presented throughout the activity by the teacher helped in the construction and evaluation of the strategies used by the groups. At the end of the activity, the students were able to identify which aspects facilitated or hindered the learning process, which are indicative of metacognitive awareness. It is noteworthy that there are still few studies that observe didactic proposals, which is an important field of study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

this article presents considerations related to the evaluation of university professors from Colombia, Mexico and Peru who participated in a training course in virtual modality, in the context of coviD 19 pandemic. This is a mixed-approach study, including information collected through a survey, validated by peers of experts, which researched aspects of the evaluation applied in an asynchronous modality virtual learning environment. An interpretative analysis was used for information processing. At a quantitative level, the reliability indicators principal component, analysis technique, was considered to determine the evaluation variables. The results indicate that traditional assessment prevails, but changes in its foundation and implementation are needed. Four variables were identified: routine assessment, crisis routine assessment, continuous and formative assessment, and evaluation with technological resources. The main conclusion is that the situation forced by the pandemic in education has challenged evaluation control, which generates a reflection to the group of teachers on this matter. LANGUAGE teachers , *COVID-19 pandemic , *CONDUCT of life , *DIGITAL communications , *TELECOMMUNICATION , *SOCIAL isolation - Abstract
Faced with the pandemic that impacted teaching work throughout Brazil, we seek to value the voice of teachers responsible for continuing the educational process via remote teaching. Our focus is on language teachers from different teaching contexts who migrated to remote teaching in the first half of 2020. The objective of the research presented in this article was to investigate how language teachers assess the use of teaching materials and digital communication technology resources in remote classes during the social isolation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the institutional and personal conduct involved at that time. The research included 130 Brazilian professors who answered a questionnaire in which they expressed their evaluations about the technological resources and materials used, as well as about the implementation and experience of remote teaching in their work institutions. In theoretical terms, we adopt Systemic-Functional Linguistics perspective aiming at a linguistic and social focus, and specifically we use the Appraisal System (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005; MARTIN; ROSE, 2007) to analyze the teachers' sayings. The linguistic analysis reveals attitudes of affect, demonstrating insecurity due to the uncertainty resulting from the moment and changes at work, judgment on the teachers' abilities, revealing a certain lack of preparation for the situation, and the appreciations of the precariousness of available resources and materials, in addition to feelings of tiredness, and anguish. This study analyses the extent to which faculty use the technological resources that make up their Learning Ecologies to encourage their teacher professional development. The interest of this research is the growing impact of Learning Ecologies as a framework to examine the multiple learning opportunities provided by the complex digital landscape. Global data referred to the use of technological resources grouped in three dimensions (Access, Search and Information Management resources, Creation and Content Editing resources, and Interaction and Communication resources) has been identified. In addition, the influence of different variables such as gender, age, years of teaching experience and the branch of knowledge were also examined. The methodology used has been quantitative through a survey. The sample consisted of 1,652 faculty belonging to 50 Spanish universities. To meet the aim of the study, descriptive and inferential analysis (ANOVA) were carried out. On the one hand, it is noted a moderate use of technological resources for professional development and, on the other hand, significant differences are observed on all variables analysed. The results warn of the need to promote, both at individual and institutional level, more enriched Learning Ecologies, in such a way that each teacher can take better advantage of the learning opportunities, provided by the networked society. - Abstract
The mathematical knowledge that guides the handling of symbolisms, equations, graphs, calculation, is not always understood by the student, in relation to its application to experiences and routines; From this premise, the aim of this article is to design a didactic strategy focused on the development of mathematical argumentative skills in sixth grade students in Colombia, through the use of Open Digital Educational Resources (ODER). The research design of a qualitative and quantitative nature transcends a descriptive level and is located in the analyticalpropositive, through an empirical-field approach, which includes a pretest-posttest quasi-experiment. The units of analysis are represented by students and teachers, who are selected in an intentional non-probabilistic sampling, to be treated by observation, survey, and quasi-experiment. In the results, the initial and final state of the mathematical argumentation is analyzed, recording the changes of one state with respect to another, once didactic processes mediated by the ODER have been incorporated. It is concluded that the application of strategies focused on open digital educational resources contributes to the development of logical-formal thinking, displaying in the student his argumentative competences. The present work has been the result of the activity developed during the post-graduate course "Science, Technology and Society," taught by Dr. Ana Maria Vara as part of the specialization program in Public Communication of Science and Science Journalism at the National University of Cordoba. The report aims to cover two cases, both related to the issue of technological implementation, new technology in one case and old technology in the other. In turn, we address the resistance of a social group that was strongly damaged by the use of such technology. The first case concerns the setting up of a new pathogenic waste treatment plant and the resistance from the local citizens for fear of possible irregularities that would cause health problems in the population. The second concerns the severe health problems that affect women-drivers of old trolleybuses in the city of Córdoba, and the continuing claims by the affected ones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
