This study is about the influence of genes on political attitudes and behavior in the subfield of biopolitics. Genopolitics arose as a critique of the political science approach which was deemed insufficient to explain political attitudes and behavior both theoretically and methodologically. To find the origins of political attitudes and behavior, interdisciplinary studies are needed. It is genes that can explain the origin of individual preferences on which all rational choices are based. The method used in this study was a literature review to see the development of genopolitics, debates, and criticisms related to political attitudes and behavior from the point of view of political science and genopolitics. The literature used was derived from books, journals, magazines, and news on the internet. Regarding voter turnout, 32 different social factors can only be explained by 31% by differences in political behavior, while the remaining 69% of differences can be explained by genetic differences. This study concludes that genopolitics as a new approach used to see political attitudes and behavior can be applied in Indonesia to answer and complete the survey-based study of political behavior. Political behavior is behavior or action taken by individuals or groups to fulfill their rights and obligations as political persons. Santri who are in pesantren have problems accessing information from outside, especially related to the elections to be held, so that it is likely to influence political behavior in determining the political choices of the santri. This study aims to discuss the political behavior of students based on several approaches to political behavior and the degree of compliance of the santri to the kiai in the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of South Lampung in 2020. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, and in determining informants using purposive sampling technique by adjusting data requirements for research purposes. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that from the aspect of the approach, the political behavior of the santri at the Assalafiyah Tanjung Rame Islamic Boarding School was very much influenced by sociological and psychological aspects, but not influenced by rational aspects. From the aspect of the santri’s belief in the kiai, the santri are categorized as absolute obedient and pseudo-obedient santri. At the Ushuluddin Integrated Islamic Boarding School, sociological, psychological and rational choices did not play an effective role. Santri are categorized as prismatic santri, meaning that they do not use the kiai as a reference in making political choices.
