Emerging resistive switching devices are believed to play a vital role in realizing ultra-dense nanocrossbar arrays for the next generation mass storage memory. This work reports the resistive switching effect in organic-inorganic hybrid nanocomposite of perovskite oxide zinc stannite nanocubes (ZnSnO 3 NCs) and a polymer Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The functional layer was sandwiched between indium tin oxide (ITO) and silver (Ag) electrodes on a flexible PET substrate. The obtained electrical results clearly exhibited that the addition of PMMA in ZnSnO 3 NCs enhanced electrical endurance (500 biasing cycles), retention time (∼10 4 s), switching ratio (∼10 3 ) and repeatability of our memory device. Moreover the effect of device size on the resistive switching characteristics of this hybrid nanocomposite is also explored by varying the diameter of top electrode. The whole device fabrication except bottom layer was done through all printed technology such as electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA) and inkjet reciprocating head. The developed memory device displayed characteristic bipolar, nonvolatile and rewritable memory behavior at a low operating voltage. The obtained results of chemical, structural, electrical and surface morphology are added to completely understand the impact of adding a polymer on the switching characteristics of perovskite NCs. Flexible capacitive pressure sensors with a simple structure and low power consumption are attracting attention, owing to their wide range of applications in wearable electronic devices. However, it is difficult to manufacture pressure sensors with high sensitivity, wide detection range, and low detection limits. We developed a highly sensitive and flexible capacitive pressure sensor based on the porous Ecoflex, which has an aligned airgap structure and can be manufactured by simply using a mold and a micro-needle. The existence of precisely aligned airgap structures significantly improved the sensor sensitivity compared to other dielectric structures without airgaps. The proposed capacitive pressure sensor with an alignment airgap structure supports a wide range of working pressures (20–100 kPa), quick response time (≈100 ms), high operational stability, and low-pressure detection limit (20 Pa). Moreover, we also studied the application of pulse wave monitoring in wearable sensors, exhibiting excellent performance in wearable devices that detect pulse waves before and after exercise. A high performance humidity sensor for environmental and health monitoring has been fabricated using a composite of BEHP-co-MEH:PPV co-polymer and super hydrophilic Poly(acrylic acid) partial sodium salt (PAASS) as the sensing layer. The device was fabricated using all printing methods. Reverse offset printing was used to fabricate silver electrodes on LiNbO 3 piezoelectric substrate while spin coating was used to deposit the composite active layer. Four samples with different concentrations of PAASS were fabricated to find out the effect of super hydrophilic material concentration on the performance of the sensors. Physical, chemical, and electrical characterizations were performed for the sensors and their response was recorded for varying humidity levels. The results showed that the response of sensors towards humidity change is very sensitive, quite stable, and can effectively measure low humidity levels with reasonable response and recovery times. The capacitance of the sensors was measured between 0% RH and 80% RH at 1 kHz and 10 kHz test frequencies. The maximum absolute change in capacitance was ∼2750 pF (34 pF per%RH sensitivity) for the sample with maximum concentration of PAAPSS recorded at 1 kHz test frequency. Different composition ratios resulted in different performance parameters, with some of them improved, and the others compromised. Developments in organic bi-stable non-volatile memory devices have shown that organic materials are essential for the next generation of electrical memory unit owing to their low cost, high flexibility and large scalability. This study depicts an important aspect of organic memory devices by observing the effect of changing device structure on its switching characteristics. Memory devices with a bilayer and bulk-heterojunction structure were fabricated through an all printed technology by utilizing two organic polymers such as MEH: PPV and PMMA. Silver (Ag) was selected as the top and bottom electrode due to its high conductivity and easy processing. Though identical polymers were used in both device structures, but interestingly change in structure caused change in properties. It was observed that bilayer structure had much higher switching ratio and stability against various biasing cycles as compared to its bulk-heterojunction counterpart. Superior switching characteristics of bilayer structure were due to the presence of a well-defined interface between both polymers. Bulk-heterojunction device suffers the drawback of phase separation in a single organic layer between the two polymers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A flexible humidity sensor has been fabricated by a transfer printing technique. The device is fabricated by spin coating a composite of an equal (1:1) wt% ink of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) and zinc-stannate (ZnSnO 3 ) on a water soluble substrate (WSS), screen printing silver interdigitated (IDT) electrodes and spin coating low modulus Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) on top of the IDTs. The water soluble substrate is then dissolved and removed and the device is laminated onto an arbitrary substrate in an inverted configuration. The device performance has been tested by transferring onto curved plastic substrates with different radii of curvature R c . The devices show impedance change from ∼18 MΩ to ∼1.8 MΩ from 0% to 90% relative humidity (RH) with a negligible variation in results, over different bending radii. The transfer printing technique reported here would provide efficient and reliable route for the fabrication of flexible electronics on nonconventional substrates in environmental sensing, soft robotics, and artificial skin etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Byeonsan Beach located at the west coast of Korea has been eroded seriously since 2006 after the construction of the Saemangeum dike. For this reason beach nourishment has been conducted from 2011 until 2017, and the result was successful by turning the beach in erosional phase of -4.1 cm/yr (2006 to 2010) into depositional condition of +2.0 cm/yr (2011 to 2017). Based on the EOF analysis of sixty-nine beach surveys during 13-year period from 2006 to 2019, the first four modes accounted for nearly 83% of total variability, leading to the interpretations of beach-nourishment effect, artificial construction, the influence of beach ridges migration, and irrigation-channel effect, respectively.
