The evaluation of thermoelectric materials relies significantly on the thermoelectric figure of merit, ZT, which serves as a crucial parameter in assessing their properties. The accurate prediction of ZT values can be accomplished by utilizing machine learning models to learn material characteristics. However, factors such as the size of the dataset, model hyperparameters, and data quality can all impact the accuracy of machine learning. In contrast to previous research where high-dimensional features were simply discarded to transform them into low-dimensional ones, deep learning models such as autoencoder can extract more effective information. Therefore, in this article, the combination of autoencoders and the Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) is employed to learn the chemical characteristics and ZT values of various materials. The reliability of the model was confirmed by achieving an R2 score of 0.94 during tenfold cross-validation. 130 000 materials were predicted and screened, the temperature dependence of the screened materials was studied in depth, and 13 materials with high ZT values were identified. Four of the 13 most promising candidates identified are existing thermoelectric materials, while nine are ideal candidates for future experimental studies and validation. Summary: Escherichia coli is known to easily contaminate noodles and form biofilms during noodle processing. Sheeting was a key step in the processing. The objective of our study was to investigate the influence of sheeting pressure on the viability of E. coli. Our findings revealed a significant reduction in the E. coli count (by 1.46 log CFU g−1), as well as their swimming diameter (by 46.7%) and biofilm formation (by 25.7%) following an additional 20 sheeting treatments. The expression of genes (flhC, flhD, rpoS, csgD and adrA) validated the weakening of E. coli survival due to sheeting pressure. Moreover, the alterations in dough texture properties had adverse effects on the survival of E. coli. These results highlight that sheeting pressure can effectively reduce E. coli viability in dough. From the perspective of optimization, most of the current mainstream remote sensing data fusion methods are based on traditional mathematical optimization or single objective optimization. The former requires manual parameter tuning and easily falls into local optimum. Although the latter can overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods, the single optimization objective makes it unable to combine the advantages of multiple models, which may lead to distortion of the fused image. To address the problems of missing multi-model combination and parameters needing to be set manually in the existing methods, a pansharpening method based on multi-model collaboration and multi-objective optimization is proposed, called MMCMOO. In the proposed new method, the multi-spectral image fusion problem is transformed into a multi-objective optimization problem. Different evolutionary strategies are used to design a variety of population generation mechanisms, and a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is used to optimize the two proposed target models, so as to obtain the best pansharpening quality. The experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the traditional methods and single objective methods in terms of visual comparison and quantitative analysis on our datasets. The power sector is one of the major CO2-emitting industries in China. It is also the first key emissions control industry included in China's national carbon trading market established in 2021. Therefore, based on the data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2015 to 2022, this study analyzes the impact of the national carbon market policy on the carbon emissions of the power industry based on the generalized Difference-in-Difference (DID) model. Based on the method of text analysis, this paper constructs the carbon market policy intensity index of each region and incorporates it into the DID model. Empirical analysis finds that the national carbon market policy can significantly inhibit the carbon emissions of the power industry. However, the heterogeneity analysis of 30 provinces and cities shows that the national carbon market policy has a significant impact on the regions that already have a carbon pilot, but not on the non-pilot regions. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the national carbon market policy in the power industry emissions control, and also exposes the heterogeneity between regions, providing an important empirical basis for the inclusion of other energy-intensive industries. In this paper, we ponder a kind of discrete-time fractional-order complex-valued fuzzy BAM neural network. Firstly, in order to guarantee the quasi-projective synchronization of the considered networks, an original quantitative control strategy is designed. Next, by virtue of the relevant definitions and properties of the Mittag-Leffler function, we propose a novel discrete-time fractional-order Halanay inequality, which is more efficient for disposing of the discrete-time fractional-order models with time delays. Then, based on the new lemma, fractional-order h-difference theory, and comparison principle, we obtain some easy-to-verify synchronization criteria in terms of algebraic inequalities. Executive functioning (EF) abilities develop through childhood, but this development can be impacted by various psychosocial environmental influences. Using longitudinal data from the Health Outcome and Measures of the Environment (HOME) Study, a prospective pregnancy and birth cohort study, we examined if psychosocial environmental factors were significant predictors of EF development. Study participants comprised 271 children and their primary caregivers (98.5% mothers) followed from birth to age 12. We identified four distinct EF developmental trajectory groups comprising a consistently impaired group (13.3%), a descending impairment group (27.7%), an ascending impairment group (9.95%), and a consistently not impaired group (49.1%). Higher levels of maternal ADHD and relational frustration appear to be risk factors for increased EF difficulty over time, while higher family income may serve as a protective factor delaying predisposed EF impairment. Objective: The treatment of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (E-CRSwNP) remains a challenge due to its complex pathogenesis. Inositol polyphosphate-4-phosphatase type IA (INPP4A), a lipid phosphatase, has been implicated in allergic asthma. However, the expression and function of INPP4A in E-CRSwNP remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the role of INPP4A in macrophages in E-CRSwNP. Methods: We assessed the expression of INPP4A in human and mouse nasal mucosal tissues via immunofluorescence staining. THP-1 cells were cultured and exposed to various cytokines to investigate the regulation of INPP4A expression and its functional role. Additionally, we established a murine nasal polyp (NP) model and administrated an INPP4A-overexpressing lentivirus evaluate its impact on NP. Results: The percentage of INPP4A + CD68 + macrophages among total macrophages decreased in the E-CRSwNP group compared to the control and the non-eosinophilic CRSwNP (NE-CRSwNP) groups, exhibiting an inverse correlation with an increased percentage of CD206 + CD68 + M2 macrophages among total macrophages. Overexpression of INPP4A led to a reduced percentage of THP-1 cells polarizing towards the M2 phenotype, accompanied by decreased levels of associated chemotactic factors including CCL18, CCL22, CCL24, and CCL26. We also validated the involvement of the PI3K-AKT pathway in the function of INPP4A in vitro. Furthermore, INPP4A overexpression in the murine NP model resulted in the attenuation of eosinophilic inflammation in the nasal mucosa. Conclusions: INPP4A deficiency promotes macrophage polarization towards the M2 phenotype, leading to the secretion of chemokines that recruit eosinophils and Th2 cells, thereby amplifying eosinophilic inflammation in E-CRSwNP. In this study, ceramic samples of Bi2Sr2Co2Oy + v wt% B2O3 (v = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) were synthesized using the solid state reaction method, and the influence of B2O3 additive on their microstructure and thermoelectric properties were investigated. On one hand, the B2O3 additive acted as a sintering aid, enhancing carrier mobility. On the other hand, B2O3 dispersion served as a nano-second-phase, increasing hetero-interfaces and strengthen phonon scattering, thereby effectively suppressing lattice thermal conductivity. By dual optimization of both electric and thermal transport performance, the Bi2Sr2Co2Oy + 0.3 wt% B2O3 sample achieved a high ZT value (thermoelectric figure of merit) of 0.31 at 923 K, which was improved by approximately 33% compared with the pristine Bi2Sr2Co2Oy sample. The sensitivity of fluorescent sensors is crucial for their applications. In this study, we propose a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-coated optical fibre–hybrid waveguide-fibre sensing structure for ultrasensitive fluorescence detection. In such a structure, the MIP coated-hybrid waveguide acts as a sensing probe, and the two co-axially connected optical fibres act as a highly efficient probing light launcher and a fluorescence signal collector, respectively. For the dual-layered waveguide sensing probe, the inner hybrid waveguide core was fabricated using a hollow quartz nanoparticle–hybridized polymer composite with a low refractive index, and the outer MIP coating layer possesses a high refractive index. Simulations showed that this dual-layer configuration can cause light propagation from the waveguide core to the MIP sensing layer with an efficiency of 98%, which is essential for detection. To validate this concept, we adopted a popular fluorescent dye, rhodamine B, to evaluate the sensing characteristics of the proposed system. This paper introduces the concept of equivalence operators based on overlap and grouping functions where the associativity property is not strongly required. Overlap functions and grouping functions are weaker than positive and continuous t-norms and t-conorms, respectively. Therefore, these equivalence operators do not necessarily satisfy certain properties, such as associativity and the neutrality principle. In this paper, two models of fuzzy equivalence operators are obtained by the composition of overlap functions, grouping functions and fuzzy negations. Their main properties are also studied. Oral cancer is a disease with high morbidity and mortality worldwide and greatly impacts the quality of life, especially in patients with advanced stages. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one of the most effective clinical treatments for oral cancers. However, most clinically applied photosensitizers have several deficiencies, including oxygen dependence, poor aqueous solubility, and a lack of tumor-targeting ability. Herein, the carrier-free multifunctional Sorafenib (Sor), chlorin e6 (Ce6), and Fe3+ self-assembly co-delivery nanoparticles (Sor-Ce6 NPs) were constructed via combining a ferroptosis inducer Sor and a photosensitizer Ce6 for synergetic therapy. The as-synthesized Sor-Ce6 NPs presented excellent colloidal stability and water dispersity with good in vivo tumor-targeting ability. More significantly, the low dose of Sor-Ce6 NPs had little dark toxicity but produced significantly enhanced ROS and supplied O 2 sustainably to increase phototoxicity through ferroptosis pathway. Notably, the Sor-Ce6 NPs showed significantly higher in vitro and in vivo anti-tumor efficacy than the Sor/Ce6 mixture due to the improvement of cellular uptake and the incorporation of foreign Fe ions in the system, which also confer the T 1 magnetic resonance-guided imaging ability to the formed Sor-Ce6 NPs. Inhalable messenger RNA (mRNA) has demonstrated great potential in therapy and vaccine development to confront various lung diseases. However, few gene vectors could overcome the airway mucus and intracellular barriers for successful pulmonary mRNA delivery. Apart from the low pulmonary gene delivery efficiency, nonnegligible toxicity is another common problem that impedes the clinical application of many non-viral vectors. PEGylated cationic peptide-based mRNA delivery vector is a prospective approach to enhance the pulmonary delivery efficacy and safety of aerosolized mRNA by oral inhalation administration. In this study, different lengths of hydrophilic PEG chains were covalently linked to an amphiphilic, water-soluble pH-responsive peptide, and the peptide/mRNA nano self-assemblies were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The in vitro mRNA binding and release, cellular uptake, transfection, and cytotoxicity were studied, and finally, a proper PEGylated peptide with enhanced pulmonary mRNA delivery efficiency and improved safety in mice was identified. These results showed that a proper N-terminus PEGylation strategy using 12-monomer linear monodisperse PEG could significantly improve the mRNA transfection efficiency and biocompatibility of the non-PEGylated cationic peptide carrier, while a longer PEG chain modification adversely decreased the cellular uptake and transfection on A549 and HepG2 cells, emphasizing the importance of a proper PEG chain length selection. Moreover, the optimized PEGylated peptide showed a significantly enhanced mRNA pulmonary delivery efficiency and ameliorated safety profiles over the non-PEGylated peptide and LipofectamineTM 2000 in mice. Our results reveal that the PEGylated peptide could be a promising mRNA delivery vector candidate for inhaled mRNA vaccines and therapeutic applications for the prevention and treatment of different respiratory diseases in the future. Equity and justice have long been central in transport policy. The emphasise on the importance of individuals' access to social and economic opportunities stresses the link between accessibility and concepts like agency and freedom of choice. It calls for a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of accessibility that considers specific contextual factors that limit people's transport choices, such as the design of public transport networks and services, government interventions, and competition between public transport companies. To promote people's potential mobility and freedom of choice, it is crucial to initially assess the spatial distribution of transport options. In this article, we synthesise the findings from existing scholarship on transport choice, reinforcing the need for (re)considering choice in transport equity. We propose a metric to evaluate the availability of transport choices by considering the trade-off between time and money. It is of engineering interest to explore recovered shale gas composition and its effects on total gas production trend over a long-term extraction period. However, there are previous experimental studies mostly focused on short term development for small scaled cores, which is less convincing to mimic reservoir-scaled shale production process. In addition, the previous production models mostly failed to account for comprehensive gas nonlinear effects. As a result, in this paper, to illustrate the full-life-cycle production decline phenomenon for shale gas reservoir, dynamic physical simulation was performed for more than 3433 days to simulate shale gas transport out of the formations over a relatively long production period. Moreover, a five-region seepage mathematical model was then developed and was subsequently validated by the experimental results and shale well production data. Our findings show that for physical simulation, both the pressure and production declined steadily at an annual rate of less than 5%, and 67% of the total gas in the core was recovered. These test data supported earlier finding that shale gas is of low flow ability and slow pressure decline in the shale matrices. The production model indicated that free gas accounts for the majority of recovered shale gas at the initial stage. Based on a shale gas well example, free gas extraction makes up 90% of produced total gas. The adsorbed gas constitutes a primary gas source during the later stage. Adsorbed gas contributes more than 50% of the gas produced in the seventh year. The 20-year-cumulative adsorbed gas makes up 21% of the EUR for a single shale gas well. The results of this study can provide a reference for optimizing production systems and adjusting development techniques for shale gas wells throughout the combinations of mathematical modeling and experimental approaches. Background: Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), such as the JUUL system, are nicotine products for adults who currently smoke cigarettes but are looking for an alternative to combustible cigarettes. Sales of ENDS products were legislatively acknowledged and authorized federally in Canada with the Royal Assent of the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act in 2018. Methods: With the unique dataset from a major chain retailer in Canada, we evaluated the impacts of JUUL market entry on cigarette sales across Canada from January 2017 to August 2019 using two-way fixed effects panel regression models by leveraging on the entry time variation at the city level. We conducted various robustness checks and a permutation test to validate our results. Results: Our estimates suggested that JUUL market entry was, on average, significantly correlated with a 1.65% per-month decrease in cigarette sales during the initial months, and with a potentially larger impact on urban areas. Our results were robust across various specifications and tests. These findings implied that JUUL and combustible cigarettes act as economic substitutes during the study time period in Canada. This article presents a proof‐of‐concept designer‐in‐the‐loop schematic map drawing tool, based on the marriage of two approaches—manual and automated, which provides the technical interactivity of drawing tools between the user and the computer. We focus on concentric circle maps as opposed to the commonly used orthogonal mode representation, which is suggested by previous studies that it could promote better network learning. In comparison with existing methods, the proposed method is more compatible with the framework of effective map design from psychological and aesthetic perspectives, and a range of options can be provided in conjunction with users' preferences. Dextranase is widely used in sugar production, drug synthesis, material preparation, and biotechnology, among other fields. The immobilization of dextranase using nanomaterials in order to make it reusable, is a hot research topic. In this study, the immobilization of purified dextranase was performed using different nanomaterials. The best results were obtained when dextranase was immobilized on titanium dioxide (TiO2), and a particle size of 30 nm was achieved. The optimum immobilization conditions were pH 7.0, temperature 25 °C, time 1 h, and immobilization agent TiO2. The immobilized materials were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and field emission gun scanning electron microscopy. The optimum temperature and pH of the immobilized dextranase were 30 °C and 7.5, respectively. The activity of the immobilized dextranase was >50% even after 7 times of reuse, and 58% of the enzyme was active even after 7 days of storage at 25 °C, indicating the reproducibility of the immobilized enzyme. The adsorption of dextranase by TiO2 nanoparticles exhibited secondary reaction kinetics. Compared with free dextranase, the hydrolysates of the immobilized dextranase were significantly different, and consisted mainly of isomaltotriose and isomaltotetraose. Although the micro-jet flame has received a lot of attention, there is a lack of studies on the influence of the composition variation of the CO/methane blended fuels. The present work reveals the impact of CO addition on the combustion characteristics of the micro-jet methane flame so as to improve the combustion stability for the practical utilization of the MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System). It is found that the flame height decreases with the increase of CO, which means that the increase of flame height with the increased inlet velocity can be inhibited by the addition of CO. The flame structures are similar for different CO addition fraction. Interestingly, the flame temperature increases first and then decreases with the increased CO because the present flame temperature is mainly determined by the physical effect of CO addition on the chemical reaction. The addition of CO also affects the flame-wall thermal interaction. Due to the competitive relationship between the flame position and temperature, the heat loss of the flame through the wall will increase first and then decrease with the increase of CO. Similarly, the preheating heat of fresh fuel also shows the similar trend with the heat loss and the preheating temperature of the new fuel reaches the highest in the case of 10%CO-90%CH4. Due to strong stress sensitivity resulted from unconventional tight formationsit is of practical interest to formulate a reasonable pressure drawdown plan to improve gas extraction recovery. The impact of water-shale interactions on the reservoir permeability was previously ignored in the managed pressure drawdown optimization. The controlled-pressure production dynamic analysis was mostly conducted using numerical simulation, lack of rigorous theoretical support. Hence in this paper, a theoretical production prediction model was proposed and verified with HIS RTA 2015by incorporating multiple pressure drawdown mechanisms and various non-linear gas flow process. The on-site production effects dominated by two different pressure drop methods was further compared, indicating that compared to depressurization production, the production reversion can occur in the controlled pressure production process and the EUR of single well can be increased by about 30% under the control of managed pressure drawdown approach. Finally, the pressure drawdown optimization strategy was carried out on the field test from the both production effect and economic benefits, which demonstrated that the best economic solution can generally be obtained in the early stage of production. The concentric circles (CC) map design is an alternative approach for schematically representing metro systems. Compared with traditional octo-linear maps, CC maps can effectively simplify the perception of a network by visually accenting circular line patterns. This design offers new insights into the schematic drawing of metro systems that can improve map readability and engagement. Automated mapping studies in the literature have mostly applied the traditional octo-linear design using optimization methods, where design criteria are modeled as constraints and/or objective functions in a constrained mixed-integer optimization program, whereas the automated CC map drawing approach has received less attention. In this article, we develop an automatic CC map drawing method by adopting map design criteria as a mixed-integer programming problem. Numerical experiments are conducted using (a) a simple network to illustrate the model procedure in detail, (b) two real-world metro networks in Vienna and Montréal to analyze the effects of the selected map center and parameter settings and (c) the Beijing subway to analyze the applicability of the proposed approach to large-scale metro networks. Background: Anxiety disorders emerge during childhood and adolescence and are frequently preceded by subsyndromal anxiety symptoms. Environmental toxicants, including gestational polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) exposure, are associated with neuropsychiatric sequelae; however, the role of PBDEs as risk factors for anxiety in adolescence is unclear. Methods: Using data from the Health Outcomes and Measures of the Environment (HOME) Study, a prospective pregnancy and birth cohort enrolled from 2003 to 2006, we investigated the relationship between gestational serum PBDE concentrations and anxiety symptoms in adolescents (N = 236). We measured five PBDE congeners (PBDE‐28, −47, −99, −100, and −153) at 16 ± 3 weeks of gestation and calculated their sum (∑PBDE). We assessed self‐reported anxiety symptoms using the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) and depressive symptoms using the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI‐2) at age 12 years. We estimated the associations of maternal PBDE concentrations with child anxiety and depressive symptoms using multivariable linear regression and modified Poisson regression. Covariates included child sex, maternal race, maternal age at delivery, maternal marital status, maternal education, and household income at the 12‐year study visit as well as maternal depressive and anxiety symptoms. Sensitivity analyses were performed to control for maternal lead and mercury at delivery. Results: After adjusting for predetermined covariates, each doubling in maternal PBDE concentrations was associated with increased SCARED scores (e.g., for ∑PBDE, SCARED total score, β = 1.6 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.3–2.9, p =.019) and a nonsignificant increase in depressive symptoms (e.g., for CDI total score, β =.8, 95% CI: −0.2–1.8, p =.11). Conclusions: Gestational serum PBDE concentrations just before mid‐pregnancy and during a period of active cortical and limbic neurogenesis, synaptogenesis and myelogenesis may be a risk factor for developing anxiety symptoms in early adolescence. Searching for non-noble and high active electrocatalysts with excellent durability for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is significant for hydrogen production but remains a grand challenge. Here, we report a low-temperature oxidation strategy to modify copper foam (CF) and successfully built a heterogeneous NiP 2 -Cu 3 P nanoarray on the modified CF (NiCuP@CF), in which the CF functions as both conductive support and the precursor of the active substances. The resulting catalyst achieves low overpotentials of 113.4 and 266.4 mV to reach the current density of 10 and 100 mA cm−2 towards HER in alkaline electrolyte, respectively, benefiting from the 3D heterostructure arrays with abundant active sites and excellent conductivity. The open channels formed spontaneously in the 3D arrays allow rapid H 2 bubbles to escape, which enables the catalyst to exhibit remarkable stability for at least 36 h under different current densities. This work presents a facile and economic modification method for Cu substrate, which will provide a good foundation for the subsequent material optimization, not limited to the heterogeneous metal phosphide catalyst toward HER. The heterointerface between NiP 2 and Cu 3 P is constructed on the in-situ modified copper foam, which is well-controlled via tuning temperature. The nature and magnitude of nocebo responses in primary headache disorders are still unknown. To assess the distribution and possible predictors of nocebo responses in primary headache treatments, databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library were searched from 1988 to December 31, 2020, for parallel‐group, double‐blind, randomized placebo‐controlled trials of pharmacologic treatments of primary headaches. The nocebo responses were calculated using a random effects meta‐analysis model. Subgroup and metaregression analyses were performed to determine the associations of study design and demographic characteristics with nocebo responses. A total of 178 randomized controlled trials that satisfied the inclusion criteria were included. Prophylactic treatments elicited stronger nocebo responses than acute treatments. The majority of nocebo adverse events were mild to moderate in severity, with the nervous and digestive systems being the most commonly affected. There was a strong correlation between the active medication and control groups in terms of adverse events, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Long treatment duration, a high proportion of subjects receiving active medications, multicenter design, North America, high body mass index, women, previous treatment experiences, and a high proportion of patients with migraine headache with aura were all found to be significant positive predictors of nocebo responses, whereas the year of publication was found to be inversely related to them. Nocebo effects should be noticed for their contribution to discontinuation of or lack of adherence to active treatments. Recently, tribocatalysis driven by mechanical energy has been developed by rubbing two kinds of different materials. In this work, we firstly demonstrated that the friction of the single material also could initiate the tribocatalysis for degrading organic dyes. Under magnetic stirring, the multi-size granular polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles were triboelectrically charged, among which the collision between large and small particles would cause high energy electrons on large particles to transfer to small ones. These triboelectric charges on PTFE particles could react with adsorbed oxygen molecules or water to generate reactive oxygen species, and then promoted the degradation process of organic dyes together with oxidant holes. We further investigated the experimental parameters, such as stirring speed, size and quantity of stirring bar, to optimize the tribocatalytic performance. What's more, the PTFE tribocatalysis possessed high durability for multiple recycling runs with > 90% degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B, as well as well universality for eliminating other pollutants. Finally, we proposed a plausible tribocatalytic mechanism of multi-size granular PTFE according to the detected reactive oxygen species and the determined intermediates. Biomass-derived alkyl levulinates are considered to be ideal fuel additives, and the construction of green and economic catalysts for the production of alkyl levulinates was still a challenging goal. In this work, a facile method for the synthesis of sulfated lignin/Zr coordination polymer (Zr-LSNa@S X) was developed through the coordination of sodium lignosulfonate with Zr ions by hydrothermal procedure. The catalytic performance of prepared Zr-LSNa@S X for the direct conversion of furfuryl alcohol (FA) to methyl levulinate (ML) was studied and a 73.1 % yield of ML was achieved at 180 °C in 180 min. The as-prepared sulfated lignin/Zr coordination polymer was characterized using SEM, FT-IR, and Py-FTIR techniques, and it was determined that the Brønsted acid sites of the catalyst played a crucial role in the conversion of FA to ML in methanol. This work provided a facile method for constructing the green and economical bio-based solid acid catalyst which will greatly extend the application of bio-based materials in the acid-catalyzed reaction. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are ubiquitous environmental chemicals used as flame retardants in commercial and consumer products. Gestational PBDE concentrations are associated with adverse behaviors in children; however, the persistence of these associations into adolescence remains understudied. We estimated the association of gestational PBDE serum concentrations with early adolescent self- and caregiver-reported behaviors at age 12 years and determined the consistency with previously observed associations in childhood with caregiver-reported behaviors in a prospective pregnancy and birth cohort. We measured maternal serum concentrations of five individual PBDE congeners and created a summary exposure variable (∑ 5 BDE: 28, −47, −99, −100 and −153) during pregnancy. At age 12 years, we assessed behaviors for 237 adolescents using self- and caregiver-reports with the Behavioral Assessment System for Children-3 (BASC3). We used multivariable linear regression models to estimate covariate-adjusted associations of lipid standardized, log 10 -transformed gestational PBDE concentrations with BASC3 scores. We obtained estimates and 95% confidence intervals through a bootstrapping approach. We evaluated potential effect measure modification (EMM) of adolescent sex by examining sex-stratified regression models and estimating the EMM p-values. Gestational PBDE concentrations were positively associated with adolescent-reported BASC3 composite indices for inattention & hyperactivity (BDE-28, -47, −99, −100, ∑ 5 BDE), internalizing problems (BDE-28, -47, −99), functional impairment (BDE-28, ∑ 5 BDE), and emotional symptoms (BDE-28). Gestational PBDE concentrations were positively associated with caregiver-reported BASC3 composite indices for externalizing problems (BDE-28, -47, −99, −100, −153, ∑ 5 BDE) and behavioral symptoms (BDE-99). For caregiver reported behaviors, we observed stronger associations with gestational BDE concentrations among males, especially for executive functioning (BDE-28, -47, −99, −100, ∑ 5 BDE). Gestational PBDE serum concentrations were associated with self-reported internalizing and externalizing behavior problems in early adolescence. Caregiver-reported externalizing behaviors recognized during childhood remain associated with gestational PBDE concentrations and persist into early adolescence. However, the self-reconfiguration behavior of CoP in actual operation seriously affects its long-term hydrogen evolution stability. Herein, an in-situ reconstructed Fe sacrificial protective layer is proposed to inhibit the complete conversion of CoP in alkaline HER process and improve the stability of CoP-based catalysts. Through this sacrificial strategy, nearly 80 % of CoP is retained, forming a new Co(OH) 2 /COP as the active interface of HER. As result, the catalyst can maintain hydrogen evolution at high current density for more than 10 days, and show excellent dynamic response in start-stop experiment. The dew condensation frequency is high, and the dew amount is heavy in urban ecosystems. During the condensation process, particulate matter acts as a condensation core, playing an important role in purifying the air. At night, dew mainly condenses on plant leaf surfaces, the plant leaves settle the particles in the dew, and some of the particles are resuspended into the atmosphere in the process of dew evaporation after sunrise. This paper monitored the condensation and evaporation processes of dew on four common plants in Changchun city from June to September 2020. By analyzing the mass and size of particles on different leaves after dew condensation and evaporation, the ability of different plants to retain particles in dew was analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the TSP capture ability during dew condensation between Buxus sinica (Rehd. et Wils.) Cheng subsp. sinica var. parvifolia M. Cheng, Syringa oblata Lindl., Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch., and Pinus tabuliformis Carrière, with a TSP content of 0.21 ± 0.06 μg/cm2. Coarse particulate matter is the main type of deposit in the dew condensation stage. Particulate deposition varied according to species, leaf shape, and microstructure. The proportion of TSP remaining on leaves after dew evaporation from Pinus tabuliformis Carrière, Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch., Buxus sinica (Rehd. et Wils.) Cheng subsp. sinica var. parvifolia M. Cheng, and Syringa oblata Lindl. tree was 89.7 ± 3.9%, 80.6 ± 3.6%, 75.9 ± 4.5%, and 71.4 ± 3.7%, respectively. The ability of the leaves to trap fine particles was significantly higher than that for coarse particles (P < 0.05) after dew evaporation. The highest amount of particle captured by Syringa oblata Lindl. individual was 15.17 g/y during dew condensation, and the amount of remaining particles after dew evaporation was 10.83 g/y. Objectives: In the fall of 2019, several states in the United States passed emergency bans on the sale of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), in response to an outbreak of illnesses strongly linked to tetrahydrocannabinol vaping products that received national news coverage. Given that ENDS are potential alternative nicotine products for adult smokers, banning ENDS may have unintended consequences. This study provides evidence of an association between state-level ENDS bans and cigarette sales.Methods: We used difference-in-differences and generalized synthetic control methods to estimate the impacts of the emergency ENDS bans on cigarette sales by comparing treatment states that passed ENDS bans in fall 2019 (Massachusetts, Washington, and Rhode Island), halted states that revoked the announced ENDS bans, and control states.Results: Our results show that cigarette sales in ban states were higher than would have been observed otherwise in the post-ban period. A full ban on ENDS was associated with increased cigarette sales of 7.5% in Massachusetts (P < .01); banning non-tobacco flavored ENDS was associated with 4.6% (P < .1) higher-than-expected cigarette sales. We did not detect statistically significant impacts in halted states, and placebo tests, which randomly assigned control states as treatments, showed no difference in observed cigarette sales in the same period.Conclusions: This study provides evidence that banning ENDS is associated with increased cigarette sales. The large permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) brings great difficulties in manufacture, assembly, and maintenance. A kind of unwinding stator module-combined permanent magnet synchronous machine (SMCPMSM) is proposed. This structure achieves modular manufacture of large PMSM, convenient for machining, repairing, and replacing. By removing part of the coils, the stator is divided into blocks to achieve this decoupling of the windings between modules. The three-phase winding is symmetrical, and each module can operate independently. This paper describes the SMCPMSM structure and the stator block rule. The winding analysis is performed using the slot electromotive force phasor diagram method. The winding distribution coefficient, winding electromotive force, and magnetomotive force are calculated. The electromagnetic performance is simulated and analyzed. An 80 kW prototype is developed, and its experiments are carried out. The urgent need to reduce carbon emissions causes great concerns about rising inflation. Through measuring the interconnectedness in the carbon-inflation system consisting of four representative carbon pilots, this study demonstrates strong spillover effects between carbon returns and inflation in China, mainly driven by short-term components. The net spillovers from inflation are usually positive in the short-term, indicating that it is a net information transmitter. By contrast, inflation switches roles between information transmitter and receiver in the long-term. The net pairwise spillovers between carbon returns and inflation differ across pilots, showing heterogeneity in the carbon-inflation system. Guangdong and Shenzhen pilots exhibit significant net spillover effects on inflation, particularly in the short-term. Finally, important events exert significant impacts on the spillover effects between carbon returns and inflation, but do not necessarily enhance the overall connectedness. Carbon market is the most effective market tool for carbon emission reduction. China, the largest carbon emitter in the world, established the national carbon market in 2021, covering over 2000 key units in the power sector. Therefore, the forecasting of carbon price has profound implications for environmental and energy policies. In this paper, two traditional econometric model and three kinds of machine learning (ML) algorithms are used to predict carbon returns in the Chinese carbon trading market based on carefully selected predictors. Among all forecasting models, the Random Forest (RF) has the best forecasting performance, followed by some GARCH models using various factors. Compared with the traditional benchmark of ARMA model, the BP neural network (BP) and the GA improved BP method (GA-BP) are less competitive in predicting carbon returns in China because of their large forecasting errors. According to the optimal model, social attention to the carbon market, the international crude oil returns and the overall performance of the stock market are the most important predictors. The findings are robust to the change in the sample set. The large permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) usually adopts a modular technique to facilitate manufacture and maintenance. The rated power of large mechanical equipment is selected according to the limit capacity, and the motor efficiency is low at a low load. A kind of unwinding stator module combined permanent magnet synchronous machine (SMCPMSM) is proposed. Each module is mechanically and electrically decoupled. It can operate independently. The number of input modules can be flexibly selected according to the torque requirements in direct drive SMCPMSM to realise the optimum efficiency control of the ball mill. The work presents the loss model of the SMCPMSM and analyzes the torque distribution ratio of the modules. The mathematical model of torque distribution with optimum efficiency is established by using the genetic algorithm. The optimum efficiency control under different loads is determined. With the large‐scale development of the ball mill, the direct‐drive gearless ball mill has emerged, eliminating the limitation of the transmission torque of large gear. However, it is difficult to process, transport, install and maintain the gearless ball mill because of its vast volume, and the coils cannot be decoupled freely. Therefore, this work proposes a module combined permanent magnet motor with wrapped type for mine ball mill (MBMWT‐MCPMM). Based on the principle of removing coils, the stator is modularized. Each module can be regarded as a small rotary motor, which improves the reliability and fault tolerance of the motor. In this work, the structure and general design process of the MBMWT‐MCPMM are described, and the electromagnetic performance is simulated and analysed. The influence of different factors on the cooling effect of the motor and the temperature rise of different modules during fault‐tolerant operation are analysed. Background: In 2019, an outbreak of COVID-19 broke out in Hubei, China. Medical workers from all over the country rushed to Hubei and participated in the treatment and care of COVID-19 patients. These nurses, dedicated to their professional practice, volunteered to provide compassion and expert clinical care during the pandemic. As with other acts of heroism, the ethical dilemmas associated with working on the front line must be considered for future practice. Purpose: To explore the ethical dilemmas of frontline nurses of Jiangsu Province in China during deployment to Wuhan to fight the novel coronavirus pneumonia, and to provide a basis for developing strategies to help nursing staff address personal and practice concerns in order to work more effectively during this pandemic and other disasters in the future. Research design and method: Using the phenomenological research method and the purpose sampling method, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 nurses, post-deployment to Wuhan, who had worked on the front line to fight the novel coronavirus. Ethical considerations: The research proposal was approved by the Research Ethic Committee of Yangzhou University, China. Findings: From the analysis of the interviews of the 10 participants, three main themes were identified: ethical dilemmas in clinical nursing, ethical dilemmas in interpersonal relationships, and ethical dilemmas in nursing management. Conclusion: During a quick response to public health emergencies, where nurses are deployed immediately as a call to action, the issues surrounding ethical dilemmas from several perspectives must be considered. This research suggests that a team approach to proactive planning and open communication during the emergency is an efficient and productive strategy to improve the nurses' experience and sense of well-being. Glycine cleavage system (GCS) plays a central role in one‐carbon (C1) metabolism and receives increasing interest as a core part of the recently proposed reductive glycine pathway (rGlyP) for assimilation of CO2 and formate. Despite decades of research, GCS has not yet been well understood and kinetic data are barely available. This is to a large degree because of the complexity of GCS, which is composed of four proteins (H, T, P, and L) and catalyzes reactions involving different substrates and cofactors. In vitro kinetics of reconstructed microbial multi‐enzyme glycine cleavage/synthase system is desired to better implement rGlyP in microorganisms like Escherichia coli for the use of C1 resources. Here, we examined in vitro several factors that may affect the rate of glycine synthesis via the reverse GCS reaction. We found that the ratio of GCS component proteins has a direct influence on the rate of glycine synthesis, namely higher ratios of P protein and especially H protein to T and L proteins are favorable, and the carboxylation reaction catalyzed by P protein is a key step determining the glycine synthesis rate, whereas increasing the ratio of L protein to other GCS proteins does not have significant effect and the ratio of T protein to other GCS proteins should be kept low. The effect of substrate concentrations on glycine synthesis is quite complex, showing interdependence with the ratios of GCS component proteins. Furthermore, adding the reducing agent dithiothreitol to the reaction mixture not only results in great tolerance to high concentration of formaldehyde, but also increases the rate of glycine synthesis, probably due to its functions in activating P protein and taking up the role of L protein in the non‐enzymatic reduction of Hox to Hred. Moreover, the presence of some monovalent and divalent metal ions can have either positive or negative effect on the rate of glycine synthesis, depending on their type and their concentration. The shale gas productivity model based on shale gas nonlinear seepage mechanism is an effective way to reasonably predict productivity. The incomplete gas nonlinear effects considered in the current production prediction models can lead to inaccurate production prediction. Based on the conventional five-zone compound flow model, comprehensive gas nonlinearities were considered in the improved compound linear flow model proposed in the paper and a semianalytical solution for productivity was obtained. The reliability of the productivity model was verified by the field data, and then, the 20-year production performance analysis of the gas well was studied. Ultimately, the key influencing factors of the fracture control stage and matrix control stage have been analyzed. Research indicated the following: (1) the EUR predicted by the productivity model is higher than the EUR that the comprehensive nonlinear effects are not considered, which demonstrated that the various nonlinear effects cannot be neglected during the production prediction to ensure the greater calculation accuracy; (2) during the early production stage of shale reservoir, the adsorbed gas is basically not recovered, and the cumulative adsorption contribution rate does not exceed 10%. The final adsorption gas contribution rate is 23.28%, and the annual adsorption rate can exceed 50% in the 20th year, showing that free gas and adsorbed gas are, respectively, important sources of the early stage of production and long-term stable production; (3) the widely ranged three-dimensional fracturing reformation of shale reservoirs and reasonable bottom hole pressure in the later matrix development process should be implemented to increase the effective early production of the reservoir and ensure the earlier gas production process of the matrix development. The findings of this study can help for better ensuring the prediction accuracy of the estimated ultimate recovery and understanding the main influencing factors of the dynamic performance of gas wells so as to provide a theoretical reference for production optimization and development plan formulation of the shale gas reservoirs. Blind hyperspectral unmixing is a key technique for mixing spectral analysis, which separate the endmember spectra from hyperspectral image and evaluate their fractional abundances. Recent studies have focused on addressing spectral variability during unmixing procedure, and many new models have been proposed to characterize endmember variation. To further improve the unmixing performance, a local similarity-driven unmixing model is proposed in this paper. We construct a coefficient matrix which can reflect the difference between adjacent spectra of input data, and then take this matrix as pixel-wise weight of spatial constraints of both fractional abundances and scaling factors. By incorporating the proposed local similarity driven constraints with extend linear mixing model, the endmembers extraction and abundances estimation can be better guided by input data. Our model can efficiently solved by alternating non-negative least squares algorithm, the experiments on simulation data and real data show that the proposed method is less time consuming, and our unmixing results are superior to or comparable to the state-of-the-art methods. The final adsorption gas contribution rate is 23.28%, and the annual adsorption rate can exceed 50% in the 20th year, showing that free gas and adsorbed gas are, respectively, important sources of the early stage of production and long-term stable production; (3) the widely ranged three-dimensional fracturing reformation of shale reservoirs and reasonable bottom hole pressure in the later matrix development process should be implemented to increase the effective early production of the reservoir and ensure the earlier gas production process of the matrix development. The findings of this study can help for better ensuring the prediction accuracy of the estimated ultimate recovery and understanding the main influencing factors of the dynamic performance of gas wells so as to provide a theoretical reference for production optimization and development plan formulation of the shale gas reservoirs. Background: Papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) is the most common type of renal cell carcinoma after clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Its pathological classification is controversial, and its molecular mechanism is poorly understood. Therefore, the identification of key genes and their biological pathways is of great significance to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of PRCC occurrence and progression. Methods: The PRCC-related datasets GSE7023, GSE48352 and GSE15641 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and gene ontology (GO) term enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis were performed. Cytoscape and STRING were used to construct the protein-protein interaction network (PPI) and perform module analysis to identify hub genes and key pathways. A heatmap of hub genes was constructed using the UCSC cancer genomics browser. Overall survival and recurrence-free survival of patients stratified by the expression levels of hub genes were analysed using Kaplan-Meier Plotter. The online database UALCAN was applied to analyse gene expression based on tissue type, stage, subtype and race. Results: A total of 214 DEGs, specifically, 205 downregulated genes and 9 upregulated genes, were identified. The DEGs were mainly enriched in angiogenesis, kidney development, oxidation-reduction process, metabolic pathways, etc. The 17 hub genes identified were mainly enriched in the biological processes of angiogenesis, cell adhesion, platelet degranulation, and leukocyte transendothelial migration. Survival analysis showed that EGF, KDR, CXCL12, REN, PECAM1, CDH5, THY1, WT1, PLAU and DCN might be related to the carcinogenesis, metastasis or recurrence of PRCC. UALCAN analysis showed that low expression of PECAM1 and PLAU in PRCC tissues was related to stage, subtype and race. Conclusions: The DEGs and hub genes identified in the present study provide insight into the specific molecular mechanisms of PRCC occurrence and development and may be potential molecular markers and therapeutic targets for the accurate classification and efficient diagnosis and treatment of PRCC. In this work, computational fluid dynamics analysis on the flow field of the conventional type and silent type of the S688CCS series generator unit is conducted, and design optimization of the generator unit with poor cooling is studied based on flow field analysis results. Flow field simulation results indicate that the total cooling air quantity of the silent type generator unit is lower than that of the conventional type generator unit, and the cooling air quantity of the radiator is also lower than that of the conventional type generator unit, which is not conductive for the cooling of the silent type generator unit. The flow field optimization is achieved by adopting the single variable control method to improve the structure of the fan cover, silent components for silence, adjacent structure, and air inlet grille. The corresponding structure optimization scheme is put forward. After optimization, the air quantity for the cooling radiator of the silent type generator unit is 44.33% higher than that of its original structure, and the total cooling air quantity is higher than that of the conventional type generator unit. Purpose: RC48 contains the novel humanized anti-HER2 antibody hertuzumab conjugated to MMAE via a cleavable linker. A phase I study was initiated to evaluate the toxicity, MTD, PK, and antitumor activity of RC48 in patients with HER2-overexpressing locally advanced or metastatic solid carcinomas, particularly gastric cancer. Patients and methods: This was a 2-part phase I study. Successive cohorts of patients received escalating doses of RC48 (0.1 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg, 1.0 mg/kg, 2.0 mg/kg, 2.5 mg/kg, and 3.0 mg/kg). Dose expansion proceeded at the dose of 2.0 mg/kg Q2W. The efficacy and safety set included all patients who received at least one dose of RC48. Results: Fifty-seven patients were enrolled, the MTD was unavailable due to termination of 3.0 mg/kg cohort; 2.5 mg/kg Q2W was declared the RP2D. RC48 was well tolerated, the most frequent grade 3 or worse TRAEs included neutropenia (19.3%), leukopenia (17.5%), hypoesthesia (14.0%), and increased conjugated blood bilirubin (8.8%). Four deaths occurred during the whole study, three of which were believed to be related to RC48. Overall, ORR and DCR were 21.0% (12/57) and 49.1% (28/57). Notably, patients who were HER2 IHC2+/FISH- responded similarly to those who were IHC2+/FISH+ and IHC3+, with ORRs of 35.7% (5/14), 20% (2/10), and 13.6% (3/22), respectively. In patients who were pretreated with HER2-targeted drugs, RC48 also showed promising efficacy, with ORR of 15.0% (3/20) and DCR of 45.0% (9/20). Conclusion: RC48 was well tolerated and showed promising antitumor activity in HER2-positive solid tumors, including gastric cancer with HER2 IHC 2+/FISH- status. Purpose: Liver tumor segmentation is a crucial prerequisite for computer‐aided diagnosis of liver tumors. In the clinical diagnosis of liver tumors, radiologists usually examine multiphase CT images as these images provide abundant and complementary information of tumors. However, most known automatic segmentation methods extract tumor features from CT images merely of a single phase, in which valuable multiphase information is ignored. Therefore, it is highly demanded to develop a method effectively incorporating multiphase information for automatic and accurate liver tumor segmentation. Methods: In this paper, we propose a phase attention residual network (PA‐ResSeg) to model multiphase features for accurate liver tumor segmentation. A phase attention (PA) is newly proposed to additionally exploit the images of arterial (ART) phase to facilitate the segmentation of portal venous (PV) phase. The PA block consists of an intraphase attention (intra‐PA) module and an interphase attention (inter‐PA) module to capture channel‐wise self‐dependencies and cross‐phase interdependencies, respectively. Thus, it enables the network to learn more representative multiphase features by refining the PV features according to the channel dependencies and recalibrating the ART features based on the learned interdependencies between phases. We propose a PA‐based multiscale fusion (MSF) architecture to embed the PA blocks in the network at multiple levels along the encoding path to fuse multiscale features from multiphase images. Moreover, a 3D boundary‐enhanced loss (BE‐loss) is proposed for training to make the network more sensitive to boundaries. Results: To evaluate the performance of our proposed PA‐ResSeg, we conducted experiments on a multiphase CT dataset of focal liver lesions (MPCT‐FLLs). Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method by achieving a dice per case (DPC) of 0.7787, a dice global (DG) of 0.8682, a volumetric overlap error (VOE) of 0.3328, and a relative volume difference (RVD) of 0.0443 on the MPCT‐FLLs. Furthermore, to validate the effectiveness and robustness of PA‐ResSeg, we conducted extra experiments on another multiphase liver tumor dataset and obtained a DPC of 0.8290, a DG of 0.9132, a VOE of 0.2637, and a RVD of 0.0163. The proposed method shows its robustness and generalization capability in different datasets and different backbones. Conclusions: The study demonstrates that our method can effectively model information from multiphase CT images to segment liver tumors and outperforms other state‐of‐the‐art methods. The PA‐based MSF method can learn more representative multiphase features at multiple scales and thereby improve the segmentation performance. Besides, the proposed 3D BE‐loss is conducive to tumor boundary segmentation by enforcing the network focus on boundary regions and marginal slices. Background: Sexual minority student-athletes (SMSAs) face discrimination and identity conflicts in intercollegiate sport, impacting their participation and mental health. This study explores the perceptions of Chinese SMSAs regarding their sexual minority identities, aiming to fill the current gap in research related to non-Western countries. Methods: A qualitative methodology was adopted, utilising the Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach with self-categorization theory as the theoretical framework. Participants were recruited through purposive and snowball sampling, and data were collected via semi-structured interviews, documents, and field notes. Sixteen former and current Chinese SMSAs participated in this study. Results: The study reveals four themes: hidden truths, prioritisation of athlete identity, self-stereotyping, and attempt. The results revealed that while SMSAs were common in intercollegiate sport, their identities were often concealed and not openly discussed. The predominant focus on athlete identity in sport overshadowed their sexual minority identities. Additionally, SMSAs developed self-stereotypes that influenced their thoughts and behaviours. The non-heterosexual team atmosphere in women's teams led to the development of intimate relationships among teammates. Conclusions: The findings from this study could be incorporated into existing sport policies to ensure the safe participation of SMSAs in Chinese intercollegiate sports. This research offers valuable insights for the development and implementation of inclusive policies. Future research in China could investigate the attitudes of coaches and heterosexual student-athletes toward sexual minority identities to inform targeted interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Single-image super-resolution (SISR) is a resolution enhancement technique and is known as an ill-posed problem. Motivated by the idea of pan-sharping, we propose a novel variational model for SISR. The structure tensor of the input low-resolution image is exploited to obtain the gradient of an imaginary panchromatic image. Then, by constraining the gradient consistency, the image edges and details can be better recovered during the procedure of restoration of high-resolution images. Besides, we resort to the nonlocal sparse and low-rank regularization of image patches to further improve the super-resolution performance. The proposed variational model is efficiently solved by ADMM-based algorithm. We do extensive experiments in natural images and remote sensing images with different magnifying factors and compare our method with three classical super-resolution methods. The subjective visual impression and quantitative evaluation indexes both show that our method can obtain higher-quality results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. Increasing evidence shows that mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) methylation plays an essential role in many diseases related to mitochondrial dysfunction. Since mitochondrial impairment is a key feature of AD, mtDNA methylation may also contribute to AD, but few studies have addressed this issue. Methylation changes of the mitochondrial cytochrome b (CYTB) and cytochrome c oxidase II (COX II) genes in AD have not been reported. We analyzed mtDNA methylation changes of the CYTB and COX II genes in an APP/PS1 transgenic mouse model of AD using pyrosequencing. We examined mtDNA copy numbers and the levels of expression by quantitative real-time PCR. Average methylation levels of different CpG sites were ≤ 4.0%. Methylated mtDNA accounted for only a small part of the total mtDNA. We also observed hypermethylation of mitochondrial CYTB and COX II genes with decreased mtDNA copy numbers and expression in the hippocampi of APP/PS1 transgenic mice. mtDNA methylation may play an important role in AD pathology, which may open a new window for AD therapy. Transit-oriented development (TOD) aims to create pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods around transit hubs to improve urban mobility. However, it often overlooks the specific transportation needs of people with limited mobility. This study adopts Sen's capabilities approach (CA) and the concept of conversion factors to analyze how ordinary pedestrians, the elderly, and wheelchair users transform planned catchment areas into functional capability spaces. Our focus is on understanding these conversion factors, which highlight both environmental and individual constraints when converting resources into capabilities. Our findings reveal significant disparities in walking environments between the initially planned and the realized catchment areas, as well as disparities between individuals with and without physical limitations. This study complements established quantitative methods, enhancing the application of the CA for evaluation. It provides a more precise assessment of pedestrian infrastructure and advocates for inclusive design improvements in the context of TOD cities and an aging population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Marine animals are a huge resource of various glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) with specific structures and functions. A large number of byproducts, such as low-edible mantle, are produced during the processing of Chlamys farreri , which is one of the most cultured scallops in China. In this study, a major GAG component was isolated from the mantle of C. farreri , and its structural characteristics and biological activities were determined in detail. Preliminary analysis by agarose electrophoresis combined with specific enzymatic degradation evaluations showed that this component was heparan sulfate and was named CMHS. Further analysis by HPLC and NMR revealed that CMHS has an average molecular weight of 35.9 kDa and contains a high proportion (80%) of 6- O -sulfated N -acetyl-D-glucosamine /N -sulfated-D-glucosamine (6- O -sulfated GlcNAc/GlcNS) residues and rare 3- O -sulfated β-D-glucuronic acid residues. Bioactivity analysis showed that CMHS has much lower anticoagulant activity than heparin and it can interact with various growth factors with high affinity. Moreover, CMHS binds strongly to the morphogen Wnt 3a to inhibit glypican-3-stimulated Wnt 3a signaling. Thus, the identification of CMHS with unique structural and bioactive features will provide a promising candidate for the development of GAG-type pharmaceutical products and promote the high-value utilization of C. farreri mantle.
