Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive method for treating oral leukoplakia. In this paper, we propose a portable PDT device consisting of a flexible circuit board with a liquid flow cooling module on the back. The light source size was 17 mm × 1 1 mm × 4 mm, and the irradiation area of the light source was up to 100 mm2. The irradiance range of this device was from 10 mW/cm2 to 100 mW/cm2. Simulation and experimental results showed that the irradiance coefficient variation for a treatment area of 81 mm2 was less than 7%. At an irradiance of 100 mW/cm2, a device surface temperature of lower than 42∘C can be achieved to satisfy the safety requirements under the conditions that the temperature of cooling liquid is 10∘C and the liquid flow speed is above 12 mL/min. Irradiance uniformity is an important parameter for a Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) device. The calibration and verification of a LED array light source based on computer vision technology were implemented and carried out. First, the correlation coefficients between the pulse width modulate value and the irradiance were calibrated. Then, the correction of the actual light center and divergence angle were solved by image processing to reduce errors from each LED lens. Finally, uniformity was optimized according to the irradiance formula of the Lambertian source. The lowest coefficients of variation of irradiance were 4.87% in a 5 cm × 1 2 cm area and 3.55% in a 3 cm × 1 0 cm area within the depth range of 8–12 cm when the expected irradiance was 100 mW/cm2. This finding indicated that the light source can achieve a more uniform illumination and provide a better therapeutic effect for the PDT of port-wine stains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Early diagnosis combined with in-time treatment is a promising strategy for chronic wound care, preventing wound deterioration and promoting healing. Different smart dressings have recently emerged to enable real-time wound status monitoring and offer active intervention. However, the drawbacks of existing smart dressings, including limited drug loading capacity and poor drug penetration into the deeper wound dermal and subcutaneous tissues, are yet to be addressed, resulting in unsatisfactory therapeutic effectiveness. In this study, a Microneedle-embedded closed-loop smart Dressing (MelD) is developed to simultaneously achieve chronic wound early diagnosis and in-time therapy. The simple impedance sensing electrodes are utilized to monitor wound impedance for chronic wound early diagnosis. Based on the sensing data, the drug delivery micropump in MelD is automatically activated for in-time therapy. By integrating micropump electrodes with a drug reservoir coupled-microneedle array, a practice solution for delivering enough drug fluid into deeper wound dermal/ subcutaneous tissues is developed. Compared to untreated diabetic mice, MelD, delivering sufficient growth factor to the wound and promoting drug entry into deep tissue layers, induces faster wound healing in treated mice. Meanwhile, MelD facilitates tissue formation and nascent collagen deposition. The enhanced drug storage dosage, improved drug penetration and closed-loop operation of Meld enable the first successful attempt of ensuring sufficient and efficient drug delivery by miniaturized all-in-one smart dressing, expanding the usage of closed-loop chronic wound care from laboratorial demonstration on limited kinds of superficial wounds to a wider range of wound types. • A smart dressing (MelD) is developed to achieve early diagnosis and in-time therapy of chronic wound. • The microneedle array increases drug storage capacity and improves drug delivery effectiveness. • Satisfactory therapeutic effects of MelD-mediated wound care have been verified in chronic wound models. In this study, the Chinese yam peel polysaccharide (CYPP) was obtained under the extraction conditions optimized by the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Further biological properties of CYPP‐1 purified from CYPP were also determined. The results indicated that the optimum extraction conditions were an extraction temperature of 90.5°C, a liquid–solid ratio of 28.0 ml/g, and an extraction time of 2.94 h, along with a yield of 8.81 ± 1.48%. CYPP‐1 was identified as a kind of heteropolysaccharide mostly composed of glucose and galactose (59.4:1.0). The molecular weights were two main parts of 50.5 kDa (54.77%) and 4.4 kDa (21.02%), and the triple‐helix conformation was not formed in CYPP‐1. Besides, CYPP‐1 showed good biological properties including in vitro antioxidant activity and immunomodulatory function on RAW264.7 cells, as well as favorable hypoglycemic effect. Overall, the high‐value utilization of CYPP‐1 reveals a broad application prospect in the industrial production of functional foods and pharmaceuticals. Practical applications: Yam peel, which is discarded in large quantities during postharvest processing, results in the production of tremendous by‐products and is a great waste of resources. In this study, the yield of water‐soluble polysaccharide from yam peel reached 8.81 ± 1.48%. Besides, the purified CYPP‐1 exhibited excellent antioxidant activity, favorable immunomodulatory function, and hypoglycemic effect. Manganese oxides are considered as a cathode material with great application potential for zinc ion batteries (ZIBs). However, low electron conductivity and slow ion diffusion rate are major limitations restricting their rate capacity and cycle stability. Herein, we creatively intercalated the conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) into MnO 2 layers (sample named PEDOT-MnO 2) via a redox precipitation reaction occurring between KMnO 4 , MnSO 4, and EDOT. We used a simpler and more environmentally friendly material preparation process than related studies. The reaction system was a single aqueous phase without organic solvents, and the reaction was carried out in a stirred solution at 0–4 °C for 6 h. The pre-intercalated PEDOT enlarges the spacing of the MnO 2 layers and effectively improves the electrical conductivity of the material. In addition, the "structural pillar" effect of PEDOT acting between the layers stabilizes the crystal structure of MnO 2. Thus, the optimized sample (PEDOT-MnO 2 -2) suggests a superior reversible capacity (344 mAh g−1 at 0.2 A g−1), a high-rate performance (121 mAh g−1 at 2 A g−1), and excellent stability (142 mAh g−1 even after 1500 cycles at 2.0 A g−1).
