The discharge of lead and cadmium wastewater, along with the pollution caused by phosphogypsum, represents a particularly urgent environmental issue. This study employed a straightforward hydrothermal method to convert phosphogypsum into porous calcium silicate hydrate (P-CSH), which was then used to remove and recover Pb(II) and Cd(II) from wastewater. The adsorption capacities of P-CSH for Pb(II) and Cd(II) were notably high at 989.3 mg/g and 290.3 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption processes adhered to the pseudo-second-order kinetics model and the Langmuir isotherm model. Due to identical adsorption sites on P-CSH for both Pb(II) and Cd(II), competitive interaction occurred when both ions were present simultaneously. Additionally, the adsorption efficacy was minimally impacted by the presence of common coexisting cations in wastewater. The dominant mechanisms for removing Pb(II) and Cd(II) via P-CSH were chemical precipitation and surface complexation. Moreover, the adsorbed heavy metals were efficiently separated and reclaimed from the wastewater through a stepwise desorption process. The primary components of the residue from stepwise desorption were quartz and amorphous SiO2. Following dissolution via pressurized alkaline leaching, this residue could be recycled for synthesizing P-CSH. [Display omitted] Lupus nephritis (LN) is a common clinical complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Proliferative lupus nephritis represents the gravest form of LN, and since effective drugs for its treatment are still lacking, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) find extensive clinical utility due to their notable impact on suppressing cell proliferation and may serve as potential drugs for LN treatment. However, previous studies on the effects of TKI on LN have been controversial. Ponatinib, a third-generation TKI, lacks studies on its role in LN. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the ponatinib on LN. MRL/lpr mice were evaluated for renal function, autoimmune markers and histopathological changes after oral administration of ponatinib. RNA-seq analysis was performed to explore the molecular pathways involved in ponatinib-induced kidney injury. Ponatinib uniquely exacerbated renal damage in MRL/lpr mice, evidenced by a decline in renal function and acute pathological changes, without affecting lupus-related autoimmune markers. Differential expressed genes analysis and functional enrichment implicate ponatinib-induced renal damage in MRL/lpr mice associated with adiponectin. Furthermore, we verified ponatinib signaling the PI3K/AKT pathway through PDGFRα, potentially influencing high molecular weight adiponectin (HMW ADIPOQ) expression and exacerbating renal damage. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that ponatinib can up-regulate HMW ADIPOQ expression via the PI3K/AKT pathway by inhibiting PDGFRα phosphorylation, highlighting the potential nephrotoxic effects of ponatinib in lupus-prone mice, and underscoring the importance of monitoring renal function in systemic autoimmune diseases patients receiving ponatinib. Red mud and carbide slag, strongly alkaline solid wastes, are produced during the manufacturing of alumina and acetylene gas, respectively. Improper management of these wastes can pose significant environmental hazards. This study proposed a novel method for the collaborative treatment of red mud and carbide slag, enabling the recovery of constituent elements with CO 2 sequestration. During the hydrochloric acid leaching process, Si was reclaimed as Si-rich residue, whereas Ti, Al, Ga, Fe, and Sc were stepwise recovered as Ti-rich product, Al/Ga-rich filtrate, and Fe/Sc-rich product via the subsequent hydrolysis, co-precipitation, and alkali leaching processes, respectively. Utilizing carbide slag to replace the energy-intensive NaOH for pH adjustment in the leaching solution resulted in a Ca2+ concentration of 21,922 mg/L in the filtrate after co-precipitation. Through further mineralization process, CO 2 sequestration was achieved alongside the production of CaCO 3 with the content reaching 98.5 % along with a whiteness of 94.4 %. Furthermore, by adjusting the experimental parameters in the mineralization process, controlled manipulation of the phase and morphology of the CaCO 3 product could be achieved to meet various industry requirements. Brown corundum fly ash (BCFA) is a fine dust generated during the smelting process of brown corundum. It is rich in gallium and potassium, and improper handling can cause severe environmental damage. This study proposes a cyclic process of calcification leaching, carbonation precipitation, and lye regeneration for the collaborative treatment of BCFA and carbide slag. The leaching efficiencies of gallium and potassium were determined to be 94.02 % and 85.32 %, respectively, under the optimized conditions (120 min, 180 °C, Ca/Si molar ratio 0.9, KOH 10 g/L) of calcification leaching. The contents of effective SiO 2 and CaO in the silicon fertilizer were measured at 34.71 wt% and 33.02 wt%, respectively. During the carbonation precipitation process, gallium and aluminum were extracted from the filtrate and achieved respective contents of 2.1429 wt% and 32.99 wt% in the resulting coprecipitate. The carbonated lye was regenerated through a causticization reaction, and after four cycles, the regenerated lye maintained a consistently high leaching efficiency for gallium and potassium. This method achieves the comprehensive utilization of BCFA and carbide slag without generating any waste residue or wastewater. Calcium-silica slag (CSS) is a highly alkaline residue, rich in calcium, generated during the chemical pre-desilication process of medium- and low-grade bauxite. Mismanagement of CSS can result in detrimental environmental impacts. This study developed a novel method that combines CO 2 sequestration with CSS utilization, thereby achieving simultaneous dual-value enhancement of CSS and eliminating waste discharge. Under optimized Ca2+ leaching and carbonation conditions, a remarkable Ca2+ extraction efficiency of 96.93 % was attained, while the carbonation efficiency reached 99.37 %. Consequently, this process sequestered 301.7 kg of CO 2 per ton of CSS. The leaching process of Ca2+ in NH 4 Ac solution was realized based on the unreacted shrinking core model, which accounts for internal diffusion and chemical reaction as factors influencing leaching. The resulting carbonated product exhibited outstanding characteristics: high-purity vaterite composed of 97.43 wt% CaCO 3 with a whiteness level of 95.2 %. By regulating the carbonation temperature, the crystal particulate size distribution of CaCO 3 was tailored to meet specific requirements for various applications. Furthermore, silicon content was enriched in the leaching residue, increasing the effective SiO 2 content from 25.2 wt% to 53.12 wt% and reducing the pH from 12.23 to 7.34, rendering it a suitable silica fertilizer for agricultural production. Brown corundum fly ash (BCFA) is a solid waste from the brown corundum smelting process that contains abundant Ga, K, Si, and Al, but effectively extracting Ga can be challenging since most of it is located inside the particles. This study proposes a comprehensive utilization method of BCFA that combines hydrothermal leaching and alkali regeneration to extract Ga efficiently while producing silica-potassium compound fertilizer (SPCF) and zeolite F. By utilizing the transformation of phase and structure in the hydrothermal leaching process, Ga extraction is efficiently achieved. The results showed that under the conditions of 210 g/L KOH concentration, a liquid solid ratio of 25 mL/g, and 160 °C hydrothermal leaching for 60 min, the extraction efficiencies of Ga, K, and Si were 95.91 %, 51.78 %, and 69.57 %, respectively. The solid product's effective SiO 2 and K 2 O contents increased to 24.72 wt% and 17.74 wt%, respectively, which can be further used as SPCF for agricultural production. The hydrothermal leaching solution was regenerated by adjusting the Al/Si molar ratio and crystalizing at 160 °C for 24 h. • Composition and antibiotic resistance of FCB were investigated in WWTP. • Sedimentary tank contributed most to the removal of FCB. • The dominant FCB belonged to Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. • Biological unit significantly increased antibiotic resistant rate of FCB community. • Health risk caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae should be emphasized after WWTP. The dynamics of the composition and antibiotic resistance of the fecal coliform bacteria (FCB) in a typical wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) were investigated concerning the seasonal changes. Results showed that WWTP could remove the FCB concentration by 3∼5 logs within the effluent of 104∼105 CFU/L, but the antibiotic resistant rate of FCB species increased significantly after WWTP. The dominant FCB changed from Escherichia coli in the influent (∼73.0%) to Klebsiella pneumoniae in the effluent (∼53.3%) after WWTP, where the Escherichia coli was removed the most, while Klebsiella pneumoniae was the most persistent. The secondary tank removed the most of FCB (by 3∼4 logs) compared to other processes, but increased all the concerned antibiotic resistant rate. The potential super bugs of FCB community showing resistance to all the target antibiotics were selected in the biological treatment unit of WWTP. The FCB showed the highest multiple antibiotic resistance (92.9%) in total which even increased to 100% in the effluent. Klebsiella has the highest antibiotic resistant rate in FCB, with a multiple antibiotic resistance rate of 98.4%. These indicated that the Klebsiella pneumoniae not just Escherichia coli should be specially emphasized after WWTP concerning the health risk associated with FCB community. • Occurrence of 14 antibiotics and four ARGs were analyzed in the urban rivers of Chongqing city. • Thirteen antibiotics and four ARGs were detected and exhibited spatiotemporal variation. • Environmental risk assessment indicated four antibiotics posed high risk to sensitive species. • Many environmental factors except the heavy metal could affect their distribution. • Human feces were the potential source of some antibiotics and ARGs. In this study, the occurrence of 14 antibiotics, four corresponding antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and two microbial source tracker (MST) indicators were analyzed in two rivers of Chongqing city, southwest China. The results showed that 13 antibiotics were detected in all 12 sites and their detection frequencies were much higher in September, but concentrations were lower than that in March. Of them, erythromycin (ETM) and ofloxacin (OFL) were the predominant antibiotics in both seasons. The remarkably higher concentration of antibiotics in sediments of these rivers than those in other rivers were found. Environmental risk assessment found that four antibiotics posed high risk toward some sensitive algae. For ARGs, their relative abundances were higher in waters than those in sediments, higher in March than in September. Correlation analysis showed that antibiotics were not the exclusive selective pressure of ARGs; many environmental factors like dry matter contents on a mass basis, organic matter, total organic carbon, dissolved organic carbon, temperature, oxidation reduction potential and nitrite could affect the occurrence of ARGs. MST indicators analysis demonstrated that this river basin was largely polluted by human and pig feces, and human feces might be one main source of the four ARGs and five antibiotics. By utilizing low-grade bauxite desilication solution as raw material and adding lime after thermal reaction, adsorbent MCS was synthesized. X-ray diffraction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the MCS, MCS-Pb, and MCS-Cu. The Freundlich model was found to be more suitable for isothermal adsorption, suggesting that the adsorption of Cu2+ and Pb2+ by MCS is not limited to monolayer adsorption. According to the results of the experiment, the maximum adsorption capacities of lead ion and copper ion were found to be Pb2+ (1921.506 mg/g) > Cu2+ (561.885 mg/g), and the adsorption was controlled by chemical reactions following pseudo-second-order kinetics.
