The purpose of this theoretical essay is to analyze the field of research on aging in the organizational context from a transdisciplinary perspective. This is a bibliographical study on some aspects of the aging process in organizations. For this, a predominantly qualitative national and international literature was adopted. The discussion revolves around research approaches, the challenges and difficulties of the scientific field and the paradoxes of aging in the context of the world of work. Thus, the article seeks to organize the field of research on the aging process in organizational studies, as well as bringing advances in the construction of a research agenda on the aging process in organizations. In addition, practical and social implications of the research are presented with regard to the aging of the workforce, for example, organizational policies for people management, coping with ageism and changes in consumption patterns. The objective of the present study is to show how care for the elderly appears witnessed and widely developed in Athenian tragedy, specifically in two plays by Sophocles: Antigone and Oedipus at Colonus. Added to this is the exposition of the prominent role that women played in everything related to this care, as well as that which was provided to the dead. Hence, special emphasis is placed on the fact that much of what is related to funeral rites, in ancient Greece, was reserved for women and prohibited for men. Furthermore, the importance that senescence has in the work of Sophocles is detailed, exemplified in the dramatic weight of the tragic chorus, made up, uniquely and exclusively, of elderly people. This work, therefore, highlights the preponderant role that, in care and attention to dependency, played two of the marginalized sectors in Athenian society, such as women and the elderly. Identity is personal elaboration built based on interaction within sociocultural historical context. The masculinity identity has its foundation in gender roles, which influence and determine the behavior of men. The main aim is analyze the psychological meaning of masculine identity in men of different generations. The mixed methodology, applied semantic network technique to 268 men, from three generational cohorts and of sexual diversity. The results show that the concept of "being a man" is well defined in the three populations, being the young and those of diversity who, with the transition from modernity to postmodernity, are forced to transform their masculine identity. Influences of the sociohistorical context and the course of life are fundamental axes to understand the constituent elements of masculinity, in men of 2 generational cohorts (baby boomers and millennials). Main is to analyze how the masculine identity is built, identifying its constituent elements, and how it is transformed in the course of life. A qualitative approach (historical-hermeneutic) is used through focus groups. It is established that masculinity is a dialectical process, between the biological, cultural and contextual, which influences the consolidation of masculinity from youth to old age. The aging of academics from the National System of Researchers (SNII) in Veracruz is addressed based on their experiences, expectations, prospects and loss of autonomy. To do this, a qualitative analysis is carried out of the concerns, fears, hopes and desires that older researchers have. Identification data that remains anonymous were collected and data on their social environment, health, work and retirement expectations were interpreted, topics that were addressed in the project from which this article is derived. The information collected shows that the aging process among the academics in the sample is perceived within a fixed time, but it advances in a time that does not stop and that in the long run leads to economic, physical, health, identity, meaning and changes. meaning. Chile is one of the fastest aging countries in Latin America, and the country is currently at an advanced stage of demographic transition. Projections highlight that that in another decade, Chile will emerge as an aging economy. Within the framework of the Fondecyt Regular 1201115 project: "Gender and Aging: An Ethnography on the Social and Moral Organization of Care in the Peñalolén commune (Santiago, Chile)," in this article, we address the findings of a case study on the social organization of elderly care in the Peñalolén commune (Metropolitan Region, Chile). We do so in conjunction with social and gender inequalities from a feminist perspective. The aim of the article is to analyze the social perceptions about aging held by professionals of municipal services working with the elderly population in this specific context. We conducted interviews with these workers using an ethnographic approach that integrated both digital and in-person methodological strategies, and subjected the information collected to a thorough discourse analysis using MaxQDA software (2001 version). The results reveal that the interviewed professionals' perceptions of old age intermingle the definitions of old age derived from regulatory and public policy frameworks with their own personal and professional experiences in the communal territory. They also demonstrate the multidimensional nature of the inequalities faced by the elderly in Peñalolén, perceived by professionals as demands to be addressed in the exercise of their work. In sum, we propose a perspective of old age and aging that considers its complexity in terms of situated territorial experience by applying ethnographic listening with a gender perspective of the various actors working with the elderly individuals in each context. We present some reflections on the value of the young body and on the idea of looking young in old age in order to investigate how the imperative of the young body image and the optimal and happy feminine performance reconfigure and establish new values for the subjectivities of women in old age. It is believed that these new values constitute what is proposed here as the culture of young age, a performativity way that has rearranged subjectivities, especially those of women. From a brief genealogical retreat on old age, we set out to investigate the imperative of the young corporeal image and the culture of the young female oldness. We analyze reflective notes on actress Jane Fonda, the Netflix series "Grace and Frankie" and the Aging Pride art show. This research article aims to examine the incidence of interactions between caregivers and neglected older adults in a Center for the Protection of the Elderly in Copacabana, Antioquia (Colombia). The study was conducted within the framework of the phenomenological paradigm, utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach and the testimonial narrative method. Data collection involved a semi-structured interview consisting of 18 questions covering various dimensions, including sociodemographic factors, functions and responsibilities, emotional aspects, physical and mental health, socio-family dynamics, and moral ethics. Data analysis was carried out through a coding and categorization process with the support of ATLAS.ti software. The results show the emergence of 241 open and axial codes distributed in 5 inductive categories, which describe the complex web of feelings, emotions, perceptions, and sentiments experienced by the caregiver as a result of human contact with the elderly. It is concluded that caregivers experience situations that affect them emotionally, derived from the human contact with the elderly, but that do not influence their private life, since there is a good emotional regulation that allows separating work from personal life. The present study analyses suffering and self-inflicted violence in old age, discussing the rates of death by suicide in Brazil and the predictors of self-inflicted violence in old age, in addition to proposing a discussion about the existential void in the experience of the elderly in the light of Viktor Frankl's logo theory and education for the meaning of life as a protective aspect throughout aging. From the narrative review movement, it was realized that associated risk factors, especially depression and existential emptiness, can contribute to cases of suicide in old age. This process contributes to the individual clinging to the negative side of old age, despairing and appearing existentially frustrated, observing self-inflicted violence, and, consequently, suicide as a possibility of putting an end to the suffering experienced. Objective: To interpret the antecedents, attributes and consequences associated with the concept of old age by means of Walker & Avant's concept analysis method incorporating the integrative literature review. Method: study carried out using Walker and Avan's concept analysis. This paper has as objective reflect about old age, aging and longevity in the field of education. Among the issues raised, we seek to reflect on the following questions: is this theme present at school or on curriculum? What is the expectation related to the teaching environments when elaborating the meanings of old age and a certain perspective to defend the longevity? Therefore, we are interested in looking at how the schooling processes mobilize the production, marking, and regulation of generational difference and longevity. The problematizations of the work are based on post-critical theoretical and methodological precepts, using a methodology that strives in the descriptions, analysis and problematization about discursive artifacts. Specifically, the discourses present in the BNCC (National Common Curriculum Base) and the statute of the elderly person, considering that are produced in a way that engenders domains and power relations, giving support to certain games of truth, being associated with official documents and public policies related to the elderly that are articulated in/with the daily life of basic education schools. It was possible to analyze how the debate about old age and aging begins as a "package" in the public curriculum policy - the BNCC - which is presented as the main curricular proposal for Brazilian schools. In addition, we sought to problematize and expand the type of approach that schools can undertake to address the issues of aging, old age and longevity in a complex and pluralistic way when they propose to reflect on such relevant themes. The demographic changes that Brazil has gone through evoke from society a set of actions aimed at a better adaptation to this new reality. In this article, which is an cutout of the dissertation “The place of old age in the education of EJA teachers: an analysis of gerontological beliefs, attitudes and knowledge”, we seek to identify the scenario of international scientific productions that deal with the training of teachers for with the elderly public. The interest in observing the international reality was due to the understanding that the demographic changes that are increasingly evident in Brazil today, have already been perceived in other places, in different periods and cadences. For this purpose, a scoping review was carried out based on the Educational Resources Informations Center and the Web of Science. Altogether, we obtained a total of five articles, from different nationalities, which worked, in general, based on three concepts: Lifelong Learning; Gerontology; Educational gerontology. As highlights perceived in the joint analysis of these articles, we realized that there is a need for specific training to work with the elderly public. It was also identified that training for acting with adults and the elderly has not been appearing as a priority agenda on the part of public policies for teacher training. The articles also indicate the prevalence of the association of old age with negative stereotypes. It is proposed to problematize a linear association between death and old age. We situate old age as possibilities of life. And life would not be the denial of death. In the game of life, life and death combine to drive existences that are open to the creation of new values that are those of life itself. We are dealing here with singular modes of existences that claim their right to reality. Giving visibility to these existences constitutes a way of building alliances that affirm our own right inseparable from the powers of life. This work proposes a dialogue about old age from the perspective of agroecological practices, in this case, in the context of home gardening as a tools for dialogue and exchange of knowledge for the production of life. The study was conducted in the period of the COVID-19 pandemic and social isolation in 2020 and 2021 with a group of elderly that participated in the HorTOCAR project, a group for exchanging knowledge about home gardening in pandemic times. The method chosen for the research was participant observation through correspondence as proposed by the anthropologist Tim Ingold (2017). It provided the researcher with the necessary methodological support for an active social participation within the group. Even in the context of an on-line group, the proposed activities aimed at various forms of expression through making and experimentation beyond the limits of verbal communication. The group meetings were constituted as a response to the challenges related to the construction of a space for exchanging knowledge and fostering correspondence in the context of social isolation. In addition, the group aimed for the construction of autonomy for the elderly. As a result, it was possible to build a space that would serve the participants, even if isolated, providing them with a place for social encounters capable of producing life despite the uncertainties arising from the historical moment. Faced with changes in society and family structure dynamics, Long Stay Institutions for the Elderly are increasingly alternative housing for this population. The institutionalization experience occurs in a particular way, and the elderly experience it differently. This study aimed to understand the meaning processes of elderly living in an institution. 15 elderly from public, private, or philanthropic institutions participated. Identification questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used and analyzed from a thematic analysis. Five categories were identified: assessment of everyday life, institutionalization process, social relationships, prospects for the future, and living. Different meanings about living in an institution are constructed, articulating with the life trajectories of each elderly. Three main differences in these meanings are shown according to the context. In the public sector, the elderly are more vulnerable and associate the institution with the guarantee of rights such as housing and food; in the private sector, the elderly are more dependent and have fewer expectations of leaving; in the philanthropic field, entry into the institution was voluntary, with scheduled departures and returns. Despite complaints, the institutions were evaluated positively and may represent an environment conducive to rest, offering security, companionship, and access to primary rights. But they were also associated with abandonment, deposit, imprisonment, and even death. Differences related to gender and age are clues to be explored in future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the illusion that we are infinite beings and in the celebration of youth in contemporary societies, old age is neglected, silenced and unplanned. Death is certain for everyone, but it is only in old age that this condition necessarily inherent in human beings takes its place in the human mind. These introductory considerations were taken from the work "Velhos é os Outros" by the magistrate Andréa Maciel Pachá (1964 -). The author graduated in Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, served as a member of the National Council of Justice, was vice-president of the Association of Brazilian Magistrates and co-author of the booklet New Adoption Law. Her book entitled "Segredo de Justiça" (2014), inspired a series produced by Fantástico in 2016. She is also the author of the works "A Vida não é Justa" (2012) and "Velhos é os Outros". The work "Velhos é os Outros" is a book of chronicles published by Intrínseca in 2018 (the work contains 207 pages and is composed of 41 chapters). In this work, the author seeks to "illuminate" the existential and legal issues arising from the arrival of old age with a lot of humanity and sensitivity. Common issues in the legal perspective such as interdictions, disappearance and inheritance lead the reader to reflect on their own existence, as well as to establish empathy with others, in addition to considering planning for the arrival of old age itself. Still in this direction, this work can contribute to the student of law in the development of the understanding that the legal system is fundamental in the regulation and, in the guarantee of rights in the context of a society. The present investigation starts with the thesis that The Father (2020), directed by Florian Zeller, is more than a drama; it is a singular horror film in which it is possible to elucidate different elements of the Freudian concept of Unheimlich (the uncanny) from the ways in which old age is developed throughout the audiovisual narrative. To demonstrate this hypothesis, the article explores three aspects that, within the film, go from being Heimlich (familiar) to Unheimlich: time, body and family. A research work developed from the field rupture psychoanalytic method, in the sense proposed by Fabio Herrmann. The concept of the unconscious is transmuted into relative and plural unconscious, understood as the logic regulating human relations or the phenomena under investigation. This text is circumscribed by the apprehensions of becoming old and the possible creations/inventions of a specific temporality in which one is no longer only what one apprehends to be, but also what the often conflicting confluence says about the way the other sees the one who grows old. Thus, we seek through a questioning-interpreting methodological posture to unveil some constitutive rules of the reality-world in the aging process, as well as the vicissitudes of instincts/drives, which no longer seem to pulsate in the familiar measure. Following conjectures regarding the principle of the absurd, in which one glimpses, through exaggeration, the inverse of what one would like to show, we consider policing actions to utilize the term ‘elderly’ in place ‘old,’ taking away the right of old age to institute itself as a particularity. The condition of subjection is delineated through a narrative arising from clinical experiences with adults, elderly and old, as well as the author-psychoanalyst herself. This essay results from the investigation of the covers of magazines, ISTOÉ and QUEM, which deal with aging and the old age. Thus, the primary objective is to analyze how the Brazilian media reinforces the stereotypes of old age based on the assumptions of the Discourse Analysis method, from the French Line. For this, the Internet was used as a search tool in order to select the aforementioned covers and, thus, evaluate the statements and the images in the editions. In view of this, a question arises: what are the contradictions present in the speeches about old age? That said, it appears that there is a denial of old age when considering the elderly (a) as a subject who must have the characteristics of youth as a counterpoint to the physical aspects of a person who has aged. The speeches about old age cross the statements and the images contained in the covers of the evaluated magazines. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between social anxiety, depression and health in adolescence, adulthood and old age in the Portuguese population. This study followed a quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional design. Sampling was for convenience (n=849) between 14 and 98 years old (M= 49.72, SD= 22.59), distributed in four age groups: 12-19, 20-39, 40-59 and 60 years or older. The variables were evaluated with SPAI, SF-36 Health Survey and BDI. Pearson's correlation coefficients were calculated, taking into account the effect sizes. Positive and statistically significant correlations were found between social anxiety and depression. In addition, negative and statistically significant correlations were found with the health dimensions, decreasing with age. In general, the correlations of these with depression were higher than with social anxiety in all age groups. These results support a reduction in social anxiety, as well as an increase in depression throughout the life cycle in Portugal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to determine the contribution of the sociodemographic, psychosocial and health variables to a prediction model of dementia in the elderly population, a secondary analysis was carried out with the data from the "Health, Well-being and Aging. Bogotá, 2012", with 2000 men and women over 60 years of age from urban and rural areas of Bogotá. To select the sample, a probabilistic, multistage, conglomerate and stratified sampling was carried out, based on the 2005 National Census. The SABE questionnaire adapted for Colombia was used. According to the level of measurement of each variable and the distribution of the data, univariate and bivariate analyzes were performed, with dementia as a criterion variable and sociodemographic and health variables as predictors; 30 variables were included. It was found that 40.1% of the variance of dementia is explained by age, educational and socioeconomic level, hypertension, stroke, depression, motor dysfunction, hip fracture, comparative health, robbery victim, alcohol consumption, memory, memory self-report and comparative memory. The findings offer a statistical model that allows the detection of risk factors for dementia and the analysis of the potentially modifiable ones for its prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this article, we analyze the old age in the settlement Colônia Conceição, located in the city of Nioaque, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, MS, comprehending the reconfigurations and the sociabilities of the place, created by the settlements that started there and actually are living the stage of old age, still maintaining the administration of the unities of production. For that, we realized a study qualitative in the settlement, identifying the quantity of old people and understanding how they are organized in the management of the unities. The results show that in 128 lots exists the presence of people with 60 years or more, managing the unities and transforming the space, showing resistance in living the old age in the settlement. The purpose of this article is to present an analysis of the humorous video Prantão do Chico: Caminhão "Cata Véio" from the Youtube® Reclamação do Dia channel, as a tool to spread age in the midst of the pandemic by Covid-19. Methodologically, the research is classified as documentary and interpretive. The video analysis was inspired by the methodology "Analysis of moving images", by Diane Rose (2011), which is divided into four phases: selection, transcription, coding and tabulation. The humorous video, due to its lightness character, works as a cultural pedagogy for the diffusion of age, based on the ridicule and infantilization of old age. In addition to not contributing to the effective combat of Covid-19, as it does not have an instructive character, it is a derogatory material, which makes the old man invisible and disregards his wishes, desires and rights. This study presents the results of a comparative correlational investigation using the Senior Apperception Test (SAT). Study participants were 30 long-living older adults, divided into two groups: those who live in the community and the residents of a longterm institution. The study used a characterization questionnaire, eight SAT cards, the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15), and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMEE). The comparison of the SAT results showed that the institutionalized older adults had a more positive perception about aging. The correlations demonstrated that higher GDS-15 scores were moderately associated with the absence of solutions to problems in the stories elaborated for the SAT. It was found that low MMEE scores were related to a higher number of distortions or superficiality in the perception of the SAT stimulus, as well as to a greater number of narratives that were distant from the themes evoked in the cards. This study aimed to perform a systematic literature review in order to identify and characterize the instruments that assess attitudes towards older adults and aging, available in the SciELO, PePSIC, LILACS and PsycArticles databases. A total of 42 combinations of the following descriptors were used in Portuguese, English and Spanish: "aged OR old age AND prejudice, attitude, discrimination, ageism, stigma and scale". The search lead to 31 articles being selected for analysis and 18 instruments were identified. The results showed that studies on attitudes towards older adults and aging were concentrated between the years 2015 and 2019, with a predominance of the analysis of the cognitive dimension of the attitude. This theme has been studied in an interdisciplinary way. Instruments should be developed that assess the other aspects of attitudes, in addition to the cognitive dimension, as well as the experiences of discrimination suffered by older adults and other age groups. The objective of this work is to study the actions of help and care in the face of illness and pain among a group of elderly people from private, non-profit and religious residential institutions for the elderly - some public and private residences have also been visited. layperson both in Spain and abroad- from the Autonomous Community of Castilla La Mancha (Spain) and who belong to the "International Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Helpless Elderly", founded in 1873, which has countless residences for the following four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America. As it is an ethnographic field research, the methodology used cannot be other than participant observation, informal conversations and open semi-structured interviews. The results are as follows: In the residences of this Congregation, illness and pain are faced, whether we speak of "valid" or "assisted" people, the latter being the reference space for the latter, both in biomedical terms. as well as in a religious spiritual key, that is, from pharmacological medicine (cure), as well as based on a set of beliefs that revolve around the idea of love for Christ as a source of healing / healing. In conclusion, we affirm that both the biomedical technical treatment (cure) and the humanitarian affective (care) merge in the help / care / cure processes, avoiding excess cure and deficit of care. This article aims to analyze the principle of universality in pension matters for rural communities in Colombia. On the one hand, it presents a description of working conditions in the field, and on the other, an analysis of the Constitutional doctrine around the consecration of the pension as a fundamental right; Finally, the need in Colombia to tend for universal pension coverage in its rural areas is analyzed. Thus, from a qualitative research with a hermeneutical approach and the analysis of data and documentary sources (specialized literature, law, jurisprudence, DANE data), it was possible to conclude that given the conditions of poverty, informality, aging and low coverage in social protection in the countryside, our pension system must offer assurance designs appropriate to the socio-economic and living conditions of rural communities, that is, to enable a non-contributory rural pension for Colombia. This work aimed to develop subsidies for the psychoanalysis of the elderly based on Laplanche's theory. The recurrence of aging contingencies becoming a driving force for psychic work demands the analyst to think about the implications of old age for the individual and for clinical practice. The present study had as scope to verify and compare the social representations of three groups of university students of the courses of law, psychology and pedagogy about the LGBT aging. The sample was composed of 300 university students a private IES. The Free Words Association Technique (TALP) was used, using the method of factorial matching analysis - AFC, through the software Tri Deux Mots. As results it was observed that representations emerged in two antagonistic poles: on the one hand, the right that every individual has in making their sexual choices independent of the stage of life that are, on the other hand, the prejudice suffered by LGBTs, aggravating when it comes to the elderly. It is hoped to contribute to the development of the subject, still little studied and divulged, so that there is a greater understanding of the new arrangements of the contemporary society. This study aimed to compare the Social Representations (SR) of aging and quality of life (QoL) in old age for riparian elderly. This is a qualitative-exploratory study with a non-probabilistic sample. Sociodemographic questionnaires and the free word association technique were used. Participants were 100 elderly, matched for sex, aged 60-89 years (M = 70.08 years; SD = 7.19). The IRaMuTeQ software was used through the prototypical analysis, which provided the representational structure. Negative central elements were observed in the SR of aging and more positive elements in the SR of QoL in old age, which denotes the welfare paradox; that is, positive self-reports of life satisfaction, even in the presence of aging losses. In this article, oral narratives of older women participating of the Grandmas Project are analyzed, which consists of short films of eight minutes each produced by grandchildren together with their grandmothers, who prepare recipes associated with their life stories. In the intergenerational encounters between grandchildren and grandmothers a dialogue is established in which memory acts as a motivation for each filmmaker as well as an evocation for the older women in the revealing of their recipes. Historical and social contexts, relations with time and one's own body, all shape the memories narrated by the grandmothers, opening a window to the past which is given new meaning in the present. For Boclin (2003), old age is a category that has recently gained greater social notoriety. Although many researchers have studied this particular population, the image of the old man and, especially, the old woman suffers prejudices and stereotypes resulting from the lack of information and publications in the area. Nevertheless, the oral narratives of Matintaperera, collected through "The Imaginary in the Oral Narrative Forms of the Paraense Amazon" (IFNOPAP) has revealed a new interpretation of the female old age, not one loaded with stereotypes, but of freshness, contemporaneity and freedom. The general objective of the present article is to understand the female old age from the concept of alterity in the oral narratives of Matintaperera, collected by IFNOPAP. The theoretical framework includes Beauvoir (2018), Goldenberg (2017), Zimerman (2007) and Debert (1994). Thus, this research consists of literature review and will contribute to the studies on old age, articulating the concept of alterity since, just like Beauvoir (2018), we consider senescence not as a fixed reality, but as the product of a process elongation. This work aims to analyze the passions of affection among elderly couples in relation with specific forms of life that are opposed to images and imagery of the figurative and visual manifestation of old age. For this purpose, we take the project by Ari Seth Cohen entitled Advanced Love (2018), which portrays and interviews representative couples of different aesthetic tastes, reproducing in clothing, corporeality and in their speeches a sensitive sharing of life in common embodied in various materialities. The photographed set initially places the assumption of a debate that divides the subjects by the triad of excess, golden mean and deficiency. Historically, the middle way appears as the mark of balance, common sense and good taste (or good tone), as Aristotle already stated in The Nicomachean Ethics, referring to various segments of life. In the examined empirical, this unified view of "good taste" or "good sense" that should be shared by the elderly is broken. On the contrary, Cohen's project obliges us to rethink them in terms that supplant the social adaptations of love and the ways in which they come together and points to a modulated and coexistent encounter. The theoretical-analytical reasoning of the corpus approach is articulated with postulates of discursive semiotics in some of its unfolding: figurative and plastic analysis of the image, studies of interactional practices and forms of life in its various instances of integration - signs, strategies, practices and lived experiences. The article proposes to discuss the images of contemporary old age from the relations between surveillance, risk and governmentality. It is a question of thinking, from a genealogical perspective, how current senses of being old are intertwined with contemporary visibility regime, especially with the dynamics of surveillance. In fact, the "new image of old age" is not just a matter of bank advertisements, beauty apps, health insurance commercials or sex drug campaigns, to name a few. In fact, by progressively incorporating old age into productive field, neoliberalism circulates images that serve both to shape a kind of performative and entrepreneurial old age and to broaden their data. Current surveillance networks thus also appropriate contemporary profiles of old age: eating habits, health care, purchasing behaviors, saving practices. Data that not only support patterns and types of old age "more appropriate" to current dynamics, also anchor interventions on individuals and populations, legitimizing (or delegitimizing) investments and government reforms. In this network senses, thorough surveillance procedures - no longer bound to confined places or specific populations - are not restricted to our present day either. Such a diagram operates equally when old age is still mere expectation. It is about making the aging process - its various phases and its effects - a timely and digital monitoring target. This article aimed to reflect on the experience of old age for people who are homeless and how mental health is seen in this aging process. As methodological strategies, qualitative research was used in line with bibliographic, documentary and field research. The techniques employed were observation and interview applied to 2 (two) old subjects on the street, whose reports were analyzed based on oral history. Through the results, it was found that mental health is a public policy little accessed by people who are on the street and that it is essential to seek new care strategies. Another relevant factor perceived was the absence of intersectorality in health care for this population. Finally, it was observed that, for old subjects who are on the streets, there are perverse differences in experiencing aging, the consequences of which are given in different dimensions of their lives, such as: social, cultural, emotional, health, among others. The research aimed to identify the social representations of LGBT old age among Community Health Agents. Fifty professionals, aged 25 to 49 years old, participated in two different states in the northeastern region of Brazil. Semi-structured interviews and sociodemographic questionnaires analyzed by Iramuteq software were used, which classified the social representations within classes with lexical proximity. The Descending Hierarchical Classification generated six classes from the corpus. The results indicate representations that see the elderly LGBT as being of struggle within the exclusionary scenario that exists in society. In addition, his beliefs generated speeches that put his practice as a potential health manager for the segment. We also used Beauvoir's novel, Misunderstanding in Moscow, which illustrates the aging experiences of the protagonists. Beauvoir demonstrates that the body is an adjunct in the unveiling of old age, because it becomes an object for the other, denouncing our aging. This perspective is permeated by the Sartrean conception of the unrealizable, given the impossibility of synthesizing the self and the self that constitutes existence. But the philosopher goes beyond this perspective when she presents the ambiguous experience of senescence as one of the limits to freedom. The aging of the population is marked by differences that accentuate as the ages progress. In Brazil, the term third age was old, in the sense that to old age it became a longer period, involving elderly people with the most diverse characteristics. Thus comes the term fourth age or older segment, which marks the period of old age that encompasses the negative aspects of this phase of life as dependency. Quality of life in old age is closely linked to maintaining the ability to perform the basic activities of daily living, and loss can negatively impact the lives of the elderly, especially the older elderly. This paper aims to present aspects of research experience with oral sources. It also emphasizes the potential of this methodology in the Education History writing. It investigated childhood practices and ways to understanding and meaning them through the memory of fifteen interviewees aged between 70 and 89 years old. In their childhood, these elderlies were students in public schools of the urban nucleus of Florianopolis city, Santa Catarina State, from 1930 to 1950. Michel de Certeau was the theoretical contribution to think the narrative as art of saying, the childhood practices and the everyday. According to Walter Benjamin, the concepts of narrator, experience and history guided the reflections about the elderlies as narrators, as well as the capacity to narrate in our time. This paper analyzes the experience of the existential place in the short story "Mal-entendidos" (Prantos, amores e outros desvarios, 2016), by the Portuguese author Teolinda Gersão. The narrative focuses on the place lived in old age in the midst of incommunicability and artificialism in the contemporary family relations. The textual tessitura articulates the fictional subjectivity to the real world objectivism, as an inner exile, understood as an attitude of resistance, updating the discussion about the human condition of the elderly people in the XXI century. The objective of the present study was to analyze the strategies for coping with disease by elderly hospitalized women. Participants included 10 elderly women hospitalized in the medical clinic of a hospital, aged 60 to 73, and sample selection was intentional or convenience-based. For data collection we used a social demographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. Data analysis was performed by the software Iramuteq and the Hierarchic Descendent Classification. The results revealed that participants used adaptation mechanisms of confrontation focused on the problem, represented by the description of the medical routine and care with the body; and focused on the emotion, characterized by strategies of religiosity, resilience and by the social affective support. Rejection or denial of death emerged as a mechanism to deal with the idea of finitude. Knowing the strategies of confrontation of the disease and their repercussions can help in health assistance, aiming to implement actions that lead to the improvement of the quality of life for the elderly. Due to the increase in life expectancy in Brazil, it became important to be more careful with the health of the elderly, providing them with expansion of coverage and quality of life. In this process, public universities have been playing a significant role through Universities Open to the Third Age (UNATIs), giving this population a qualified and compatible attention to their needs and desires, thanks to the project "Smiling with health has no age", linked to the UNATI program, born with the proposal to offer differentiated dental care and information pertinent to the elderly. This article aims to describe the activities developed by the project and the results collected describing the experiences lived by the group. This project began its activities in 2009, paying special attention to the elderly with actions of prevention, guidance and clinical treatment. Academics were constantly oriented to learn and understand the needs, limitations and peculiarities of the elderly public, to offer a care compatible with their demands and desires. The purpose of the project was not only to provide the assisted public with an improvement in health conditions, but also to offer participating scholars the possibility of articulating activities with teaching and research, fortifying the teaching-research-extension tripod. Moreover, the project made them see the importance that the dental surgeon represents in the life of the elderly, because it is known that oral health care must occur throughout life. Old age is the challenge of the century for those who seek to live with quality of life. Successful aging highlights goals that address the biopsychosocial aspects that pass through old age and that guarantee integrality in meeting the demands of the elderly. Interdisciplinarity and intersectoriality are ways that contribute to transpose a hegemonic model of aging, as well as reorient the intervention practices among the social subjects who have aged in an empowering perspective towards a just and solidary society. The objective of this study is to discuss the organization of the services offered to the elderly in public policies in Manaus from the demands presented in health and social care. The methodology is anchored in the qualitative approach, bibliographical and field research with six social workers who work directly with the elderly person. Objective: 300 psychology, law and pedagogy students from a Brazilian higher education institution (Estado de Piauí, Brazil) were sampled to conduct this study. This research aims to know students' social representation in relation with LGBT aging. Method: In order to know such social representations and a semi-structured interview and a socio-demographic questionnaire to evaluate if there are represtantions variations according to age, sex, graduation and sexual orientation were used. The sampling procedure was for convenience; the instruments for data collection were applied in the above institution during class time collectively. For data analysis, the Iramuteq software, which generated the studied dendograma was used. Results: Among the main conclusions, the members of this research objectivized their RS on old age LGBT in two antagonistic fields, as follows: on the one hand, prejudice and discrimination suffered by elderly and consequent social exclusion is revealed and on the other hand, the right that they have to live their style of Life being respected and assuming their rights and duties as citizens was observed. Conclusion: As a conclusion, students' social representations in relation with elderly sexual orientation which responds to a choice but not a social construction. Objective: To know the social representations of adolescents on aging and elderly. Method: A descriptive study supported in Social Representations with the focus on its structural approach, performed in a state school of mid-level and the sample consisted of 99 adolescents. a questionnaire, called Words of Free Association Test (TALP) using terms like inducing aging and old words was applied. Data analysis was performed using as the tool EVOC 2000 software. Results: The results of TALP for inducing term "aging" is a list of 422 words, and of these 127 (30%) were different. We note that the word "old" appeared with the largest number of evocations (31), 73 words were mentioned only once. For inducing term "old", the result was a relationship with 418 words in total, and among these terms 151 (36.1%) were different. We found that the word "care" appears among the most cited with 22 evocations then comes the word "disease" being cited 17 times. Conclusion: For those teens aging process is strongly directed to the physical aspects as "white hair", "wrinkles", "old", which were very important positions mentioned and words. Aging is perceived by some elderly people as a divine grace, a spiritual meeting and a reverence for God. Thus, this study is intended to analyze the perceptions of long-lived elderly people about the aging process. This is an exploratory-descriptive and qualitative research, using the thematic oral history technique and the NVivo software for data analysis. The interviews were performed in the period from January to May 2015. It was attended by 10 long-lived elderly people enrolled in a Family Health Unit from the city of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, who complied with the following inclusion criteria: being aged 80 years or over, being functionally independent and being a user of the chosen FHU. For the long-lived elderly people, aging is associated with spirituality and the belief that old age is a gift from God. The aging of the population has demanded attention, especially with regard to care for the elderly public. Although Brazilian law establish that this responsibility is of primary competence of the family, the dynamics of the social context and the current fluidity of family relationships have involved changes to that obligation. In this context, the Long Term Care Institutions for the Elderly provide welfare and health services, primarily for the elderly who have no family or when it does not have conditions to take their care. Having in mind the fact that often the asylums are labeled by society in a prejudicial manner, this study aimed to identify and analyze the social representations of institutionalized elderly about aging and about their old condition. In this qualitative research, it was adopted the case study method. The data collection was operationalized through observation and interviews with institutionalized elderly. The study results indicated distinct social representations: some focusing on losses, in which old age was associated with abandonment, loneliness, conflict, poverty and disease, and others focusing on the gains, as the representations of old age as an active phase, propitious to amorous involvements and rest.
