The article presents the reply of W. T. Lee and colleagues concerning an opinion by Frederick Trinkmann and others to their study on treatment response in precapillary pulmonary hypertension using non-invasive haemodynamic measurements. It discusses the mechanisms which contributes to resting arterial hypoexaemia and exercise desaturation seen in pulmonary hypertension patients. It comments that the techniques for measuring carbon dioxide suggested by Trinkmann are not suitable for PH patients.
