For centuries, resources from the forests were indispensable for the survival and daily life both in the rural world and in the cities. Wood, used for the construction and manufacture of tools, coal and firewood were considered essential fuels for households and for the operation of numerous crafts and became essential elements whose use needed to be carefully regulated by both the kingdom's and local authorities. The main objective of the present study is to analyse the conflicts which derived from the use of these resources and its impact in the courts of justice for the violation of the ordinances in a territory in the interior of Castile, the Montes de Toledo, which was subject to the feudal regime of the City Council of the capital.
