A precise constitutive model is the foundation and key to finite element simulation in material volume forming and the optimization of the hot working process. Hence, to build a precise constitutive model, a method based on a genetic algorithm (GA) for the inverse optimization identification of parameters is presented in this paper. The idea of this method is to continuously adjust the model parameters through GA until the objective function reaches the minimum value. In this study, hot compression experiments were performed on the Gleeble-1500D thermal simulator at temperatures ranging from 800 °C to 1000 °C and strain rates of 0.01 s−1 to 1 s−1. The Arrhenius-type (A-T) model considering strain compensation and the Johnson–Cook (JC) model considering the coupling effects of strain, temperature and strain rate were constructed, respectively, by using the regression method and the parameter inverse optimization identification method. For the purposes of comparing and verifying the reliability of the predictions of the two established constitutive models, the correlation coefficient (R), average absolute relative error (AARE), and relative error (RE) were adopted. The results show that both the optimized A-T model and the optimized JC model have high prediction accuracy. Compared to the optimized JC model, the optimized A-T model demonstrated a higher correlation coefficient, by 0.003, and a lower average absolute relative error, by 1.43%. Furthermore, the relative error distribution of the optimized A-T model was found to be more concentrated than that of the optimized JC model. These results suggest that the A-T model is more appropriate than the JC model for characterizing the high-temperature deformation behavior of Ti6Al4V alloy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Eddy current methods are commonly used in the inspection of riveted multilayer structures. In a practical scenario, steel rivets may be magnetized to varying levels which can distort the magnetic field and pose a major challenge since the distortion can result in false positives and negatives. This paper presents an invariance transformation procedure that renders the signal insensitive to changes in magnetization while retaining the sensitivity to defect information. The approach is first implemented on simulated data, where the signals from magnetized steel rivets can be generated under controlled variation of relative permeability. Development of a facile tool for selective detection and separation of heavy metals present in aqueous media is a demanding challenge in the chemosensing field. In this study, a natural product, halloysite nanotube (HNT), which shows excellent dispersibility in water, was selected as the scaffold to demonstrate simultaneous detection and removal of Zn ions from aqueous solution. For this purpose, HNTs were rationally integrated with coumarin moieties. The nanocomposite was prepared by treating amino-functionalized HNTs with 7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromene-8-carbaldehyde (1) to give the C N bond in the spacer resulting in the formation of the Zn2+-sensitive chemosensor (CHNTs). The successful modification was confirmed by FTIR, XPS, solid-state NMR, TG and TEM analyses. The free CHNTs showed a weak fluorescence signal, while a remarkable "turn on" behavior can be observed upon exposure to Zn2+ ions of the concentration as low as 1 × 10−6 M. In addition, CHNTs displayed excellent selectivity toward Zn2+ ions over other metal cations. Moreover, the selective removal of Zn2+ ions from an aqueous solution containing various metal ions was achieved by precipitation. The as-prepared CHNTs showing high efficiency and selectivity on the detection and separation of Zn2+ will pave the way towards novel approaches for the remediation of heavy metal pollution. Ti6AL4V alloy is widely used in the biomedical and energy vehicle industries, among others. Ti6Al4V alloy cannot be fabricated at ambient temperatures; hence, it requires hot forming. However, this method is susceptible to crack defects. The crack defect problem of Ti6AL4V alloy in the hot-forming process cannot be ignored, so we must develop a precise hot-forming damage prediction model. In this study, three high-temperature damage models of Ti6Al4V alloy were developed, considering the temperature and strain rate. These models were derived from the normalized Cockcroft and Latham (NCL), Oyane, and Rice and Tracey (RT) damage models. The damage parameters of the models were identified using a genetic algorithm combined with finite element simulation. The force accumulation error of the Ti6AL4V alloy specimen, which was obtained from a simulated thermal tensile test and an actual test, was used as an optimization target function. Then, the damage parameters were optimized using the genetic algorithm until the target function reached the minimum value. Finally, the optimal damage model parameter was obtained. Through program development, the three high-temperature damage models established in this paper were embedded into Forge® NxT 2.1 finite element software. The simulated thermal tensile test of Ti6AL4V alloy was performed at a temperature of 800–1000 °C and a strain rate of 0.01–5 s−1. The simulated and actual fracture displacements of the tensile specimens were compared. The correlation coefficients (R) were calculated, which were 0.997, 0.951, and 0.912. Of the high-temperature damage models, the normalized Cockcroft and Latham high-temperature damage model had higher accuracy in predicting crack defects of Ti6Al4V alloy during the hot-forming process. Finally, a fracture strain graph and a high-temperature damage graph of Ti6Al4V alloy were constructed. Metallic tube inspection techniques using eddy current probes have evolved over the years from those employing a single bobbin coil to rotating coils and arrays, in an attempt to improve the speed and reliability of inspection. This paper presents a novel eddy current transceiver probe design that uses a rotating electromagnetic field. The transceiver coils consist of three identical windings located 120° apart on the same physical axis. A three-phase sinusoidal current source is used for exciting the coils. The phase voltages are identical in amplitude, but 120° apart in phase. The rotating magnetic field generated by the three-phase current is sinusoidal in space and time and so are the induced eddy currents in the tube wall. The sensor achieves mechanical rotating probe functionality by electronic means and eliminates the need for mechanical rotation. The terminal voltages of the three-phase windings can be measured during the scan. The defect’s axial and angular position can be estimated by analyzing the amplitude and phase of the sum of the three terminal voltage signals. The probe is sensitive to defects of all orientations and is as effective as conventional rotating pancake coil probes while offering the advantages of high inspection speed and greater reliability, since the probe does not rotate mechanically. A 3-D finite-element model based on reduced magnetic vector potential Ar, V -Ar formulation was developed to simulate and predict the response of the probe to a variety of defects. A prototype unit consisting of a probe connected to a three-phase constant current source and data acquisition system was developed and tested. Syn-tectonic deposition of sediments (growth strata) preserves a direct record of mountain building-erosion and basin deformation. When and how these sediments incorporated into forward propagating fold-and-thrust (FTB) belts can shed light on the above processes. Despite many years of research, there is still ongoing debate about the timing and mechanisms of the southern Qaidam fold-and-thrust belt in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. Here, we provide insight into the deformation of the Qaidam Basin and the broader tectonic processes of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau through detailed analysis of the Dafengshan (DFS), Jiandingshan (JDS) and Heiliangzi (HLZ) anticlines along the southern Qaidam FTB. Identification of the growth strata by Area-Depth analysis and age determination indicate that deformation of the DFS anticline initiated in the mid-Miocene (∼15 Ma), and has successively experienced lateral growth (∼15–8.0 Ma) and uplift (∼8.0 Ma-present). This timeline of deformation coincides with periods of mountain building in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau and might be related to the removal of mantle beneath northern Tibet. The synchronization of growth strata with an increase in sedimentation and exhumation rates reveals the reactivation of the tectonic belt around the basin in the mid-Miocene, creating the current basin-range landform; since ∼8 Ma, compression has expanded rapidly into the interior of the Qaidam Basin, leading to incorporation of basin deposits into the FTB. Geomorphological analyses coupled with 3-D fold modeling demonstrate that the JDS and HLZ-fold train with S-shaped configuration is a coherent fold system developed by lateral growth and linkage of two different fold segments in the context of the N–S directional compression of the plateau. Considering the prevalent S-shaped constructions within the basin and the current seismicity, we propose that the dominant structures in the southwestern Qaidam Basin are a series of thrust faults and folds controlled by the compression component of the East Kunlun Fault, with a limited influence from the Altyn Tagh Fault. Fault activities in sea areas always produce devastative marine geohazards. For marine geohazard assessment, it is important to know the location, geometric structure, and activity regularity of active faults. In this study, high-resolution multi-channel seismic and topographic data are used to investigate the exact location, geometric structure and latest activity of the Continental Slope Fault Zone (CSFZ) in the northern South China Sea. The results show that the Qiongdongnan (QDN) segment of the CSFZ is a 194 km long NEE-trending fault zone that developed near the transition of continental shelf and slope. In its geometric structure, the CSFZ (QDN segment) cuts through the Cenozoic basement and breaks upward to near the seafloor with high-angle dip. According to whether it ruptures to the seafloor, it can be divided into eastern and western segments. In the western segment, the fault scarps about 8∼9 m high can clearly be seen on the seafloor. Whereas in the eastern segment, the fault shows a blind characteristic below the seafloor. The analysis of fault throws and expansion indices show that CSFZ (QDN segment) have remained active since the late Pleistocene. Due to the CSFZ is an active fault and geographically adjacent steep slope, which may cause large interpolate landslides, and then leading to destructive tsunamis. As a result, the CSFZ has great seismogenic potential and may produce marine geohazard chain. Thus, it is of great significance to the assessment of marine geohazard chain posed by the CSFZ for improving hazard mitigation. • The exact location, geometric structure and latest activity of the Continental Slope Fault Zone are investigated. • The Continental Slope Fault Zone has been active since the Late Pleistocene. • The Continental Slope Fault Zone has great seismogenic potential and might trigger marine geohazard. A novel methodology that combines high performance liquid chromatography with photodiode-array detector (HPLC-DAD) coupled with second-order calibration method based on alternating trilinear decomposition (ATLD) algorithm was used in determination of the effective constituents such as costunolide and dehydrocostuslactone, in plasma sample and Chinese patent medicine Xiang Sha Yang Wei (XSYW) capsule. Complicated systems such as plasma and Chinese patent medicine which have intricate components are tedious to isolate and purify. The problem that chromatographic peaks are heavily overlapped among the analytes and interferents from the background matrices can be resolved, and the satisfactory quantification results have been gained with the help of the ATLD algorithm which utilized "mathematical separation" instead of partial "physical or chemical separation".
