Abstract

The article presents a study on the effect of performance-based payment (payment for performance (P4P)) of health care providers for maternal and child care services in Rwanda. The study assessed the effect of a P4P system to increase the quality and use of maternal and child care services. It mentions that 166 facilities were deputed at the district level to start the P4P funding. It adds that the facilities increase by 23% in the number of preventive care visits and institutional deliveries.
