Two-photon absorption in molecules, of significance for high-resolution imaging applications, is typically characterised with low cross sections. To enhance the TPA signal, one effective approach exploits plasmonic enhancement. For this method to be efficient, it must meet several criteria, including broadband operational capability and a high fluorescence rate to ensure effective signal detection. In this context, we introduce a plus-shaped silver nanostructure designed to exploit the coupling of bright and dark plasmonic modes. This configuration considerably improves both the absorption and fluorescence of molecules across near-infrared and visible spectra. By fine-tuning the geometrical parameters of the nanostructure, we align the plasmonic resonances with the optical properties of specific TPA-active dyes, i.e., ATTO 700, Rhodamine 6G, and ATTO 610. The expected TPA signal enhancement is evaluated using classical estimations based on the assumption of independent enhancement of absorption and fluorescence. These results are then compared with outcomes obtained in a quantum-mechanical approach to evaluate the stationary photon emission rate. Our findings reveal the important role of molecular saturation determining the regimes where either absorption or fluorescence enhancement leads to an improved TPA signal intensity, considerably below the classical predictions. The proposed nanostructure design not only addresses these findings, but also might serve for their experimental verification, allowing for active polarization tuning of the plasmonic response targeting the absorption, fluorescence, or both. The titanium-bearing (up to 3.31 wt% TiO2) hydrous andradite [Ca2.98Na(0.02)K(0.01)Fe2+(0.01)]Σ=3.02[Fe3 +1.25Al0.45Ti0.15Fe2+0.07Mg0.04V3+0.01Mn2+0.01]Σ=2.98Si2.43O9.72(OH)2.28 was identified within intensely altered and weathered pyroclastic rocks in the Sierra de Bahoruco region in the Dominican Republic. It forms small isolated euhedral crystals, infillings of fissures and fractures, and large polycrystalline aggregates, in close paragenesis with clinochlore and calcite. Other phases present in the secondary assemblage, formed as a result of hydrothermal and/or supergenic processes, include prehnite, pumpellyite, and natrolite. The formation of this secondary assemblage was a result of metasomatism under low temperature zeolite facies conditions. The formation of hydrous garnet required high-pH aqueous fluids enriched in Ca and Fe. The Ca needed for garnet crystallization might have derived from primary calcic plagioclases, diopside, and Eocene-Miocene limestones overlying the Cretaceous magmatic complex. Geothermometry on coexisting chlorite revealed that the metasomatic hydrous andradite was formed under low-temperature conditions (∼160 °C). Iron and Ti oxidation states in the andradite indicate that its formation occurred under relatively oxidizing conditions. The hydrous titanian garnet represents one of the latest phases of the pervasive calcium metasomatic event in the Sierra de Bahoruco area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We consider endomorphisms of the Riordan group. This issue was recently studied by Petrullo and Senato who gave the characterization of these endomorphisms in terms of endomorphisms of the Appell and the Associated subgroup. Here, we show that some of the latter ones turn out to be identities. Additionally, we establish some facts concerning the action of these endomorphism on the diagonal Riordan arrays. Neoplastic cells are characterized by uncontrolled cell divisions caused by cell cycle dysregulation. Key regulatory proteins governing the transition from the G1 to the S phase are the CDK4 and CDK6 kinases, which are controlled by D-type cyclins. The CDK4/6 kinases enable the use of these proteins as targets for anticancer therapy because they prevent the growth and the development of malignant cells by inhibiting their activity. This paper surveys the clinical trial results concerning palbociclib, the first in-class FDA-approved anticancer drug for hormone-dependent breast cancer. It discusses the therapeutic applications in breast cancer as well as in solid tumors and hematopoietic malignancies. Additionally, the paper presents an analysis of palbociclib resistance acquired during therapy and explores new approaches, such as modifications to palbociclib that enhance its desired activity or open up new therapeutic possibilities (PROTACs). Basalt-hosted monocentric agates from Bou Hamza (Morocco) were examined to unravel a discrete relationship between moganite content, water content, and the abundance of various types of chalcedony/quartz microtextures, so that the agate-forming process is refined. Herein, moganite content is noticeably low in length-slow chalcedony (quartzine, up to 18 wt.%), as compared with the co-occurring length-fast (LF) chalcedony (up to 31 wt.%). Such a type of disparity reflects a stabilization of the crystallization front during the formation of chalcedonic bands. Recrystallization-related quartz types (i.e. feathery and mosaic/jigsaw puzzle) show low and high moganite content (0 and up to 34 wt.%, respectively) since they have likely originated from different silica precursors (i.e. opaline and chalcedonic, respectively). Meanwhile, the initial formation of mosaic quartz can be exclusively witnessed in the so-called zebraic variety of length-fast chalcedony (i.e. with twisted fibres) that should be hence regarded as a ,,metastable" variety of silica though. The range of total water content remains quite stable across chalcedonic bands (0.5–0.6 wt%) and reaches the highest values (0.7 wt%) in feathery quartz. However, there is rather a general negative relationship between the content of molecular water and silanol-group water. This can stem from the recycling of water species following the condensation reaction of silanols within the agate geodes. The agates originated from Fe-Ti-bearing solutions that co-precipitated goethite, hematite, and rutile, but also contain minor low-grade carbonaceous material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fe-modified Cu catalysts with CeO2 support, prepared by the impregnation method, were subjected to physicochemical analysis and catalytic tests in the steam reforming of methanol (SRM). Physicochemical studies of the catalysts were carried out using the XRF, TEM, STEM-EDS, XRD, TPR and nitrogen adsorption/desorption methods. XRD, TEM studies and catalytic tests of the catalysts were carried out at two reduction temperatures, 260 °C and 400 °C, to determine the relationship between the form and oxidation state of the active phase of the catalysts and the catalytic properties of these systems in the SRM. Additionally, the catalysts after the reaction were analysed for the changes in the structure and morphology using TEM methods. The presented results show that the composition of the catalysts, morphology, structure, form and oxidation state of the Cu and Fe active metals in the catalysts and the reaction temperature significantly impact their activity, selectivity and stability in the SRM process. The gradual deactivation of the studied catalysts under SRM conditions could result from the forming of carbon deposits and/or the gradual oxidation of the copper and iron phases under the reaction conditions. The crack resistance of concrete structures with low reinforcement ratios requires a broader examination. It is particularly important in the case of foundations working in changing subsoil conditions. Unfavorable phenomena occurring in the subsoil (e.g., ground subsidence, landslips, non-uniform settlement) can lead to unexpected cracking. Therefore, it is necessary to check the effectiveness of the low reinforcement provided. As there are limited studies on lightly reinforced concrete structures, we performed our own experimental investigation and numerical calculations. In the beams analyzed, the reinforcement ratio varied from 0.05% to 0.20%. It was found that crack resistance in concrete members depends on the reinforcement ratio and steel bar distribution. A comprehensive method was proposed for estimating the crack resistance of lightly reinforced concrete members in which both the reinforcement ratio and the reinforcement dispersion ratio were taken into account. Furthermore, the method considered the size effect and the fracture properties of concrete. The proposed method provides the basis for extrapolation of the test results obtained for small elements and conclusions for members with large cross-sections, such as foundations, which frequently use lightly reinforced concrete. Mining tremors may have an impact on the safety risk of steel pipelines through their effects. It is therefore important to quantify the impact of a high-energy mining tremor in terms of strength. In addition, a comparison of the results obtained with the effect of a seismic tremor can illustrate the scale of such a hazard. Recently, this has been a very frequently raised issue in the area of surface protection against negative mining impacts and the protection of post-mining areas. Ensuring safe use is particularly important for gas transmission elements. This paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of the impact of mining tremors and seismic impacts on a specimen steel pipeline segment. The analyzed pipeline is located in the eastern part of Poland in the area of paraseismic impacts of the LGCD (Legnica-Glogow Copper District) mine. For this purpose, an analytical approach was used to assess the impact of seismic wave propagation on underground linear infrastructure facilities. Accelerogram records for the 02-06-2023 seismic tremor from Turkey and the mining tremor for 11-25-2020 were used. In the case of the design of underground pipelines, the cross-section of the element for which measures describing wall stress and the ovalization of the cross-section are determined is usually considered. In the situation of the influence of seismic wave propagation or so-called permanent ground deformation, the response of the pipeline in the longitudinal direction is analyzed. As a final result, longitudinal strains transferred to the pipeline as a consequence of the propagating seismic wave and mining tremor were determined. The absolute difference between the deformations in the ground and along the length of the pipeline was determined. This type of analysis has not been carried out before and provides new insights into the topic of paraseismic impacts on the scale of their interaction with natural earthquakes. Objectives: The aim of the research was to explore the potential of the concept of work in the activity-based working (ABW) environment, including its impact on stress, back pain and psychomedical parameters of employees subjected to and not subject to relocation. Material and Methods: The data of 396 employees of both sexes were analyzed. The study used standardized psychological questionnaires to measure the level of perceived stress (Perceived Stress Scale), the level of readiness for change (Readiness for Change Questionnaire), the severity of health behaviors (Health Behavior Inventory) and the level of general self-efficacy (General Self-Efficacy Scale). The set included questionnaires measuring the level of knowledge of occupational health and safety rules and the frequency of back pain. Results: In the group of people whose workplace was moved to another building (in accordance with the concept), the relationship between the level of stress and selected variables: age, sense of generalized self-efficacy was checked. A significant negative correlation between the level of stress and age was confirmed (p = -0.16, p = 0.023), meaning a decrease in the level of stress with age. The level of stress correlated positively with the sense of efficacy (p = 0.21, p = 0.003), which means, the higher the sense of effectiveness, the higher the level of stress. In addition, it was confirmed that the level of stress in the group of people changing their location differed significantly from the general population. Conclusions: Work in the ABW concept can contribute to the improvement of interpersonal communication and facilitate the social integration of employees and better evaluation of work in this model. Work in concept has not been shown to be a protective factor against back pain in people with obesity. It was confirmed that in people relocated from traditional office to office in the concept, relocation was associated with stress, but also with a greater sense of self-efficacy. The main purpose of this paper is to present the development of a new predictive model intended for the calculation of stiffness modulus |E*| determined by a four-point bending beam test (4PBB or 4PB-PR). The model developed, called model A, was based on the Witczak model, which was developed for the dynamic-modulus (DM) method. Most of the asphalt mixtures used to develop the model were high-modulus asphalt concrete (HMAC). The most commonly used methods for determining the stiffness modulus |E*| of asphalt mixtures were also discussed. The paper presents the results of the study for 10 asphalt mixtures but 8 of them were used to develop the predictive model. In addition, the results of complex shear modulus G* tests on neat and modified bituminous binders carried out in a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), necessary for the development of a predictive model, are presented. The tests carried out in the dynamic shear rheometer had significant measurement uncertainties. The results of the volumetric parameters of the asphalt mixtures are also reported. The developed model A has maximum absolute errors e = 1930 MPa (p = 95%) and maximum relative errors re = 50% (p = 95%). The distribution of the absolute errors of the model, after discarding outliers, has a normal distribution as in the development of other models of this type, which was confirmed by appropriate statistical tests. On the basis of the tests and calculations carried out, it was concluded that, in order to increase the precision of the predictive models, it is advisable to reduce the measurement uncertainty of the bitumen complex shear modulus G*. The alkaline Cho Don complex in NE Vietnam comprises several mafic-felsic suites related to the widespread magmatism developed during the early Permian–late Triassic. The contribution explores the petrogenesis of nepheline syenite from the Bang Phuc massif and its petrogenetic relationship with cogenetic scapolite-rich gabbro. The nepheline syenite formed through fractional crystallization of pristine mantle-derived basaltic melt modified by subduction-related components (chiefly sediment-derived melts), as shown by, e.g. low Ba/Th and high Th/Nb ratios of the rocks. The transition from gabbro to syenite follows a within-plate enrichment trend (e.g. increasing Ta/Yb, Nb/Yb, and Th/Yb ratios) that might reflect switch from post-orogenic to intra-plate regimes, accompanied by subduction–collision–extension events related to the Indosinian Orogeny. Furthermore, magma evolution involved the progressive contribution of asthenospheric-derived melts that resulted in the appearance of OIB-like signatures (e.g. high Nb/La ratios) in the nepheline syenite. Fractional crystallization of fluorapatite and mafic phases, as well as assimilation of carbonate wall rocks ultimately led to the decrease of LREE contents and/or modification of Zr/Hf ratios. Magmatic phases of the nepheline syenite include nepheline, sodalite, oligoclase, orthoclase, and annite, as well as accessory fluorapatite, fluorite, and minor amounts of zircon and metamict allanite-Ce. The nepheline equilibrated at temperatures ranging between 850°C and 700°C, which reflects protracted residence at a higher temperature. Later, it has been locally altered to cancrinite, dawsonite, and natrolite via CO2- and alkali-rich fluid influx. The fluid–rock interactions were also manifested by the presence of chessboard-twinned albite and coarsening of braid-perthite into patch-perthite, as well as recrystallization of primary orthoclase into microcline. The orthoclase→microcline conversion, albeit fairly indiscrete under a polarizing microscope and confirmed by Raman micro-spectroscopy, is followed by the change of cathodoluminescence colours, i.e. from light-blue (activated by Ti4+ and/or Al-O—Al centres) in orthoclase towards brownish and/or greenish (activated by Mn2+ and structural defects) in microcline. Potassium promoted cobalt–nickel catalysts were characterized and applied to the steam reforming of ethanol (SRE). SRE studies at 420 °C show that the catalysts containing more nickel in the active phase exhibited better catalytic properties. After SRE, the encapsulating carbon deposit was dominated on the cobalt catalyst while the fibrous deposit was dominated on the nickel catalyst. The encapsulating carbon showed mainly graphite structure which completely deactivated cobalt particles in the process while the amorphous structure was dominated in the fibrous deposit and had no significant effect on catalyst deactivation. An increase in reaction temperature to 580 °C resulted in improved activity, selectivity and stability of catalysts in the SRE. Furthermore, the production of carbon on the cobalt catalyst was reduced. While on the nickel catalyst after reaction two forms of fibrous deposits with different structures were observed. A new analytical approach to the simultaneous identification and quantification of vitamins A and E in three representative matrices (Parmesan, spinach, and almonds) was developed. The analyses were based on high-performance liquid chromatography with UV-VIS/DAD detection. The procedure was optimized by a significant reduction in the weight of the tested products and quantities of reagents added during the saponification and extraction stages. A full method validation study was performed for retinol at two concentration levels (LOQ and 200 × LOQ), which showed satisfactory results, with recoveries ranging from 98.8 to 110.1%, and an average CV of 8.9%. Linearity was tested in the range of 1–500 µg/mL and showed the coefficient of determination R2 = 0.999. The satisfactory recovery and precision parameters were achieved for α-tocopherol (LOQ and 500 × LOQ) in the range of 70.6–143.2%, with a mean CV equal to 6.5%. The observed linearity for this analyte in the concentration range of 1.06–532.0 µg/mL was R2 = 0.999. The average extended uncertainties were estimated, using a top–down approach of 15.9% and 17.6% for vitamin E and A, respectively. This study utilizes CNN and other extensions, such as VGG16 and MobileNet, for plant image classification. Three DL models were trained on four datasets for tomato disease classification, potato disease classification, lettuce disease classification, and cucumber disease classification. The results show that the three models achieved 84.49% accuracy on the tomato disease dataset, 97.65% accuracy on the cucumber disease dataset, 97% accuracy on the potato disease dataset, and 99.9% accuracy on the lettuce disease dataset. This study aims to explain the influence of sediments and landforms of postglacial and loess landscapes of Europe on processes forming meandering and anabranching rivers. Based on a literature review, sedimentary architecture, types and grain-size of deposits, and channel planform changes since the Late Pleniglacial were collected for extensive set of European rivers. These data were used to create a conceptual model explaining the evolution of meandering and anabranching rivers in both types of landscape. The present study shows that the inheritance of glacial and fluvioglacial landforms and sediments, and loess formation, influence types of processes forming anabranching and meandering rivers. Point bar accretion formed meandering rivers in postglacial zone whereas oblique accretion dominated in loess areas. Anabranching rivers of postglacial zone evolved through the formation of crevasse channels and meandering anabranches. Anabranching rivers of loess zone formed sustained bifurcations. Postglacial and loess rivers reacted differently to increased deposition and humidity in the Late-Holocene. Meanders of postglacial zone formed channel bars owing to increase in stream power and sediment load. In cases of flow energy decrease, and sustained upstream sediment delivery, they turned into anastomosing rivers. Anabranching rivers in ice-marginal valleys maintained its courses until hydro technical works in the 19th century. Low-energy meandering rivers of loess areas became wetlands owing to deposition of silts. High-energy meandering and anabranching rivers maintained the planforms throughout the Holocene. Rivers shaped the landscape of the Atlantic Coastal Plain during the last tens of thousands years. However, their spatial and temporal evolution is understudied. We conducted geophysical, geological and remote sensing surveys in the Congaree River valley, characterized by numerous traces of palaeochannels preserved in the floodplain. The age of the former channels was determined by AMS radiocarbon dating. The main goal of our study was to identify factors controlling the river planform changes and compare the findings with other rivers of the Atlantic Coastal Plain. We found that the Congaree floodplain was shaped by single-thread channels characterized by formation of levees and floodbasins at least 34,000 cal. BP. Large-scale meanders were active between 16,000 and 12,000 cal. BP. They were replaced by meandering channel belts shifting by avulsions between 12,000 and 3,000 cal. BP. Compound meanders have been formed during the last 3000 years. Traces of these channel planforms are also present in other rivers of the Atlantic Coastal Plain. The abandonment of the large-scale meanders was caused by increase in climate humidity, changes in vegetation cover, and inundation of the coastal plain by the ocean level rise, resulting in base-level rise. The avulsions of meander belts in the Early and Middle Holocene were formed in conditions of a humid climate, a series of flooding periods, and continued base-level rise. A relatively drier climate in the Late Holocene caused a change in the meanders' evolution from the channel belts shifting by avulsions to compound meanders evolving by cutoffs. The last 200 years were dominated by a huge delivery and deposition of fines, caused by deforestation and land-use changes in the river valleys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The formation of spilitic assemblages (i.e. chlorite and albite) has been ubiquitously involved during the evolution of continental early-Permian volcanics from the Intra-Sudetic Basin (ISB). Based on the investigation of laccolith-type and variably-altered trachyandesite exposure in the vicinity of Głuszyca Górna (Lower Silesia, Poland), we have demonstrated that apatite fission-track dating (AFT), coupled with chlorite geothermometry, can be successfully applied to denote the timing of low-temperature alterations within volcanic rocks. The primary magmatic assemblages of the trachyandesites (i.e. augite and andesine-labradorite) have been affected by chloritization and alblitization respectively, followed by the formation of secondary titanite, celadonite, and calcite. The chlorite species have crystallized in the range of 106–170 °C, that exceeds Apatite Partial Annealing Zone (70–110 °C). The secondary, nearly pure albite (Ab ~ 99 mol.%) with weak to dark-brown cathodoluminescence replaces primary plagioclase (~ An37–50Ab47–58Or2–4) along the cleavage and/or twinning planes during Al3+–conservative reaction. The accessory apatite is marked by swallow-tail terminations indicative of rapid cooling formation conditions. It shows homogenous chemical composition, high F− content, and pink to yellow (REE3+ and Mn2+-activated, respectively) cathodoluminescence. Based on the AFT dating, the development of spilitic alterations within the early-Permian (ca 290 Ma) laccolith from Głuszyca could not only span the range of 182–161 Ma (Middle Jurassic), but also occurred prior to large-scale geological events in the ISB, such as burial under late-Mesozoic sediments, as well as tectonic inversion and exhumation. Whole-rock geochemistry of trachyandesites altered to various extent, indicates that original trace elements concentrations, except for i.e. Sr, Cs, and Ba, could be preserved during low-temperature alteration (spilitization). Meanwhile, geochemical fingerprint of the volcanics (i.e. humped-shaped mantle normalized trace element diagrams and positive Zr–Hf anomaly) points to the crustal contamination during magma evolution, combined with the mantle metasomatism in the source via subduction-derived components (i.e. fluids), as shown by i.e. low Nb/Th and Nb/LREE ratios. This article is an afterword to the author’s previously published text entitled Marriage in crisis: is it worth/necessary to save it at „any cost”? – reflections on selected problems of social welfare clients, which presented a purely secular, mainly psychological and therapeutic perspective. Addictions and violence do not bypass sacramental marriages, which, according to the Catholic faith, continue until death. However, it is possible to reconcile psychological, therapeutic recommendations with those of a spiritual nature – which is perfectly illustrated by the activities of many Catholic sobriety ministries. The questions raised by the considerations undertaken here are: What areas – from a spiritual perspective – are worth/should be saved in sacramental marriages affected by addiction and/or violence, both at the stage of living together and at the stage of living apart? The intestinal microbiome composition and dietary supplementation with psychobiotics can result in neurochemical alterations in the brain, which are possible due to the presence of the brain–gut–microbiome axis. In the present study, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and behavioural testing were used to evaluate whether treatment with Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus JB-1 (JB-1) bacteria alters brain metabolites' levels and behaviour during continuous exposure to chronic stress. Twenty Wistar rats were subjected to eight weeks of a chronic unpredictable mild stress protocol. Simultaneously, half of them were fed with JB-1 bacteria, and the second half was given a daily placebo. Animals were examined at three-time points: before starting the stress protocol and after five and eight weeks of stress onset. In the elevated plus maze behavioural test the placebo group displayed increased anxiety expressed by almost complete avoidance of exploration, while the JB-1 dietary supplementation mitigated anxiety which resulted in a longer exploration time. Hippocampal MRS measurements demonstrated a significant decrease in glutamine + glutathione concentration in the placebo group compared to the JB-1 bacteria-supplemented group after five weeks of stress. With the progression of stress, the decrease of glutamate, glutathione, taurine, and macromolecular concentrations were observed in the placebo group as compared to baseline. The level of brain metabolites in the JB-1-supplemented rats were stable throughout the experiment, with only the taurine level decreasing between weeks five and eight of stress. These data indicated that the JB-1 bacteria diet might stabilize levels of stress-related neurometabolites in rat brain and could prevent the development of anxiety/depressive-like behaviour. New analytical approaches to the simultaneous identification and quantification of 94 pesticides and 13 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in five representative matrices (pepper, apple, lettuce, wheat, and soil) were developed. The analyses were based on gas chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The procedure was optimized by changing the solvent used during the extraction, from acetonitrile to the acetone: n-hexane mixture at a volume ratio of 1:4 (v/v), as well as the use of a reduced amount of water during the extraction of compounds from cereals. An additional modification was the use of florisil instead of GCB in the sample cleanup step. A full method validation study was performed, at two concentration levels (LOQ and 1000 × LOQ), which showed satisfactory results for all analytes from the PAHs group, with recoveries ranging from 70.7–115.1%, and an average RSD of 3.9%. Linearity was tested in the range of 0.001–1.000 mg/kg and showed coefficients of determination (R2) ≥ 0.99 for all PAHs. Satisfactory recovery and precision parameters (LOQ and 100 × LOQ) were achieved for almost all analytes from the pesticide group in the range of 70.1–119.3% with the mean RSD equal to 5.9%. The observed linearity for all analytes in the concentration range of 0.005–1.44 mg/kg was R2 ≥ 0.99, with the exception of famoxadone, chizalofop-p-ethyl, prothioconazole, spirodiclofen, tefluthrin, and zoxamid. The extended uncertainties were estimated, using a top-down approach of 9.9% (average) and 15.3% (average) for PAHs and pesticides samples, respectively (the coverage factor k = 2, the 95% confidence level). Ultimately, the method was successfully applied to determine pesticide residues in commercial samples of fruit, vegetables and grain, and soil samples for PAHs, which were collected from selected places in the Podkarpacie region. A total of 38 real samples were tested, in which 10 pesticides and 13 PAHs were determined. Proposed changes allow us to shorten the sample preparation time (by 20%) and to reduce the consumption of organic solvents (by 17%). Carcinomatous meningitis is a rare complication of cancer with an unfavourable prognosis. In the population of patients diagnosed with breast cancer, it affects about 2-5% of patients. The clinical manifestation of symptoms is a consequence of the random deposition of neoplastic cells in different parts of the subarachnoid space. Multifocality of symptoms at one time is characteristic. A frequent cause of misdiagnosis is the performance of only a computed tomography scan of the brain, the image of which may remain normal. It should be remembered that the gold standard is magnetic resonance imaging with contrast. The paper presents a case of a 38-year-old female patient with the biological subtype of triple-negative breast cancer, who developed rapidly increasing neurological symptoms after recently completed oncological treatment. Their simultaneous and multifocal nature indicated damage to more than one level of the central nervous system. The paper introduces a method for predicting damage intensity in masonry residential buildings situated in mining areas, focusing on the impact of large-scale continuous ground deformation. The research utilizes in situ data collected in a database, encompassing structural and material features, as well as information on maintenance quality and building durability. In addition to this information, the database collected data on the intensity of continuous deformation of the mining area at the location of the building, as well as the range and intensity of damage identified in buildings. The information included in the database was the result of many years of observations of buildings during the disclosure of impacts from mining exploitation and was based on: the results of in-situ building inventory, analysis of available building documentation and information provided by mining companies. The archived data were categorized variables labeled. The transformation of the data to a labeled value was dictated directly by the assumptions of the GOBNILP algorithm. Ultimately, a predictive model, represented by an optimal Bayesian network structure, is established. The optimisation of the network structure is achieved through the adaptation of the GOBNILP Bayesian network learning algorithm from data. This optimisation process is executed through the Gurobi Optimizer. It is worth noting that this interdisciplinary approach represents one of the first applications of such a methodology in the field of civil and environmental engineering. The results obtained can therefore be of significant value given the fact that the methodology of detecting the structure of Bayesian networks from data is still developing intensively in other scientific fields. In the course of the analyses, metric scores are examined, and various network structures are assessed based on their complexity. Great values of classification accuracies over 91% were obtained. This meticulous evaluation allows for the selection of the optimal Bayesian network that best generalises the knowledge acquired during the learning process. One of the solutions contributing to the development of energy independence is the utilization of biogas as an alternative fuel for agricultural tractors. Biogas is recognized as a renewable energy source, and its usage aids in the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale. The reuse of this material/waste exemplifies the concept of a circular economy. Several models of agricultural tractors designed explicitly for biogas utilization or adaptable for its use are available in the market. This study aimed to evaluate the energy-ecological parameters of the MP tractor (T6.180 Methane Power) powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in comparison to its structurally identical counterpart fueled by Diesel (T6.180 Electro Command). Based on the Air–Fuel Ratio (AFR) coefficients for diesel and methane, as well as values of air excess ratios (λ) and the proportions of CO and CO2 emissions determined for various engine load states, the mass emission of selected exhaust components for the examined tractors was estimated. This research highlights that biogas-powered tractors hold the potential to contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture through the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, improvement in farm energy autonomy, and optimal resource utilization, closely aligned with the principles of a circular economy. Concrete is a porous material containing aggregate of different sizes, hardened cement matrix with air pores, microcracks and water. Concrete internal structure is different from that of other engineering materials. Furthermore concrete is described as quazi-brittle material. Fracture processes in it form in a way that does not fit within classical theories. Therefore, to describe failure of concrete structures nonlinear fracture mechanics is often applied with success. Basic concrete parameters, like compressive and tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity, are not enough to analyze fracture processes in concrete structures. Additional fracture properties should be tested, among them fracture energy, complete diagram of stress-deformation under axial tension and the width of fracture process zone. Recognizing and testing fracture parameters is of paramount importance when analysing fracture process in concrete structures. The correct data of material's properties and the adequate fracture model applied in numerical simulations influence final results. In the paper the findings reported in the professional literature are summarized and obtained results of the own numerical simulation are reported in order to give a deeper knowledge on the role of aggregate on fracture properties of concrete. The commonly known larimar is usually a gem-quality, bluish pectolite (NaCa 2 Si 3 O 8 OH), intergrown with other associated minerals such as natrolite, prehnite, calcite, chlorite, found only in the Dominican Republic. Less frequently it shows consecutive and/or sequential green, blue, and white coloration within single amygdales/veins developed in altered (chloritized, serpentinized) Cretaceous basalts of the Dumisseau Formation. The origin of larimar is linked to the circulation of low-temperature (<170 °C) alkali-rich deuteric fluids that were later mixed with meteoric waters. Variations of CL colors, ranging from weak brown in green pectolite to strong yellow (Mn2+-activated) in blue and white species, were ascribed to the transition from oxic to suboxic crystallization environment within the single larimar bodies. These changes could be induced by the burial of magmatic rocks and resulted in the emergence of early zeolite (natrolite), and subsequent formation of native copper in a sulphur-deficient hydrothermal environment. Pectolite-forming elements (e.g. Ca and Na), followed by such transition metals as Cu, Cr, Co, and Ni, were released via the alterations of magmatic minerals (diopside, aegirine-augite, and chromite-magnetite) and/or leached from basaltic groundmass. Decoupling between δ18O values of blue (up to 10.67‰), green (up to 9.66‰), and white pectolite (up to 15‰) was maintained by a progressive temperature drop during ongoing pectolitization and/or presence of the boiling-related environment. Meanwhile, anomalously low δD values (from −390.51‰ to −294.02‰) indicate that the crystal structure of pectolite tends to incorporate light hydrogen isotope regardless of the original δD values in mineralizing fluids. This article discusses the problem of accurate and efficient modeling of photovoltaic (PV) panels. It is a highly nonlinear problem. The following models were considered: a single diode model, a double diode model, a triple diode model, a four diode model, a module model (a poly-crystalline Photowatt-PWP201 module and a mono-crystalline STM6-40/36 module). The article presents a mathematical notation of these models, a detailed interpretation of their individual components, and a comparison of obtained results. To increase the effectiveness of modeling, a new population-based algorithm which can handle complex objective functions and a large number of decision variables was developed. This is important for the problem of identifying the parameters of PV cell models because each evaluation of the objective function requires calculating a set of points that determine the current–voltage characteristics. Moreover, in the considered problem a solution is searched with the use of the trial and error method. The proposed algorithm is called Micro Adaptive Fuzzy Cuckoo Search Optimization (μ AFCSO). The μ AFCSO algorithm uses several new mechanisms that were developed based on our experience with population-based algorithms. The use of these mechanisms has produced very good results in simulations. In the scope of simulation studies, the μ AFCSO algorithm was used for parameter extraction in six PV cell models and was also applied to optimize fifteen typical test functions. The test functions were considered in order to demonstrate that our algorithm can be used to solve typical problems processed using population-based algorithms. The results obtained in this study were compared with the results obtained using well-established algorithms. The results obtained in this work are better or comparable to them. This study was designed to investigate the frequency and severity of oral mucositis in patients with acute myeloid leukemia after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, in relation to the type of conditioning used. Eighty patients diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia were assigned to two groups based on the conditioning regimen used before transplantation. The intensity of oral inflammatory lesions induced by chemotherapy (oral mucositis) was evaluated according to a 5-point scale recommended by World Health Organization. Oral mucosa was investigated in all patients before the transplantation and during two subsequent stages of the post-transplantation procedure in relation to the conditioning regimen used. Mucositis in the oral cavity was observed in the majority of patients (66%) in the first week after transplantation, whereas the largest percentage of patients suffering oral lesions (74%) occurred in the second week after transplantation. A significantly higher percentage of patients with mucositis was observed in the group which underwent myeloablation therapy (74% of MAC and 50% of RIC patients in the first week; 83% of MAC and 53% of RIC patients in the second examination).The severity of mucositis after transplantation was higher in the MAC patients compared to the RIC patients. The highest mean value of the mucositis index was recorded in the second week in the MAC group (1.59). In AML sufferers receiving allo-HSCT, oral mucositis is a significant complication of the transplantation. Acrylate monomers have a wide range of applications. Since the 1950s, many reports of occupational origin allergic contact dermatitis due to (meth)acrylate monomers have been published. During last decades, (meth)acrylate allergy has undergone an occupational shift from dentistry toward beauty industry and medical devices. The aim of the study was to conduct a literature review on acrylates as a cause of allergic contact dermatitis, current sources of exposure as well as identification of professional groups with an increased risk of this allergy and methods of effective prevention. Database review: Medline search (PubMed), Wiley Online Library and Web of Science base in years 1956-2019 using the following keywords: acrylates, manicurists, dentists, dental technicians, medical devices, occupational exposure, and allergic contact dermatitis. 204 346 articles containing the term 'acrylates' have been found. They include 2 042 articles with the word 'manicurists', 169 919 -- 'dentists', 218 236 -- 'dental technicians', 2 427 418 -- 'medical devices'. Fifty-nine articles were chosen based on analysis of abstracts and full texts. In the past allergy to acrylates was mainly of occupational origin and dental technicians were the most often affected professional group. Since the long-lasting manicure has become popular, this problem concerns both manicurists and their customers. The analysis of fracture processes which led to shear failure in reinforced concrete beams without transverse reinforcement was performed on the basis of test results from the author's own experimental investigation and numerical simulations. The variable parameters during the experiment were a beam's length and a shear span. It was observed that the character of failure in the beams depended on the beam's length and the span-to-depth ratio. In slender beams characterized by the shear span-to-depth ratio 3.4 and 4.1, the formation of the critical diagonal crack caused a brittle, sudden failure and the shear capacity was low. In short beams, when the shear span-to-depth ratio was 1.8 and 2.3, the failure process had a more stable character with a slow developing of inclined cracks and the significantly higher load capacity was reached. The activation of various shear transfer mechanisms was examined with regard to the slenderness of the member and the transition between a beam action which took place in slender beams to an arch action which predominated in short beams was described. Surgical site infections (SSI) are some of the most common and serious postoperative complications. SSI may lead to longer hospitalization time, higher costs of treatment, and even death. The relevant components of the prevention of surgical site infections are: knowledge of SSI risk factors, the course of a surgical procedure and the hospital environment, as well as effective surveillance based on epidemiological indicators. Such knowledge may reduce this risk to a minimum. Activities undertaken as part of epidemiological surveillance of the operated site should include clear and consistent procedures that will allow for optimal preparation of the patient for surgery and reduce the risk of SSI at every stage of hospital care. Light-blue barite from Jebel Ouichane in Morocco forms blade-like tabular crystals (up to ca. 10 cm) with superb transparency and lustre and represents one of the most spectacular gem-quality worldwide. The barite is hosted by iron-ore-bearing skarns, developed within Jurassic-Cretaceous limestones, and occurs in close spatial association with calcite. The crystals have their cores enriched in Sr and contain abundant monophase (liquid) fluid inclusions of primary and pseudosecondary origin. The barite probably precipitated slowly at a relatively low supersaturation and under the control of a surface reaction precipitation mechanism. However, there were some episodes during its formation with a fast growth rate and the coupled dissolution and recrystallization processes. A combination of fluid inclusion data and stable δ18O value for barite (+ 6.71‰ VSMOW) suggests that low-salinity barite-forming solutions resulted from the mixing of strongly-diluted meteoric waters (enriched in light oxygen isotope) with magmatic-hydrothermal fluids under low-temperature conditions (< 100 °C). Meanwhile, the mineralizing fluids must have been enriched in Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg, and other elements derived from the alteration of carbonate and silicate minerals in sedimentary and igneous rocks. The coupling between sulphur and oxygen isotope data (+ 16.39‰ VCDT and + 6.71‰ VSMOW, respectively) further suggests that barite crystallized in steam-heated environment, where SO42- derived from magmatic-hydrothermal SO2 reacted with sulphates that originate from the oxidation of H2S under near-surface conditions. The publication focuses on the production process of ETP and ECCS steel, as well as the problem of corrosion of steel packaging. The topic of legislative changes that require the elimination of chromium (VI) compounds from the steel passivation process was also discussed. The packaging steel industry is currently facing the need to develop a new passivation technology. Leading packaging steel manufacturers in cooperation with varnish and paint suppliers have developed chromium (VI) free technologies by implementing chromium (III) compounds and titanium oxide technology. A method for drying hard coals using an impinging stream dryer has been proposed in the article. A series of screening tests were conducted, seeking optimum process parameters of an innovative coal impinging stream dryer using flue gas as the drying medium. The article addresses measurement results obtained for the flue gas and feedstock flow rate, feedstock sort, and initial moisture content on the specific energy consumption, volumetric water evaporation rate, and moisture reduction. The maximum volumetric water evaporation rate was found to be around 230 kgwater/m3·h and the maximum volumetric heat transfer coefficient came to ca. 2.5 kW/m3·°C. In terms of specific energy consumption, the lowest specific energy consumption was found to be around 1.79 kWh/kgwater. It was established that the relation between specific energy consumption and a product of the flue gas flow rate and the initial water (in the feedstock) flow rate is a power function. The best performance of the impinging stream dryer was achieved for high-moisture coal and high flue gas flow rates. The impinging stream dryer proved to be suitable for surface moisture removal from particulate materials that contain very high moisture. Fire agates from Deer Creek are highly appreciated gemstones due to the presence of optical phenomena and rainbow colours that cause fiery effects to be observed on their characteristic brown base. The specific morphology of poorly ordered chalcedony (crystallinity index = 0.1–1.5) with an admixture of mogánite (av. 6.6%), micro-quartz and opal-C forming a colloform texture seems to be responsible for the presence of fire effect in these agates. The multi-layered silica spheroidal forms ('bubble'-like structure), already noted in hand specimens, could be the centres of reflection and interference of white light. Numerous, microscopic inclusions of Fe and Ti compounds randomly scattered within some silica zones, together with microstructural features of agate, could determine the colour and size of the domains with the optical effect. Deer Creek fire agates form veins within their host volcanic rocks. The silica mineralisation filling the network of fissures in the host rocks was supplied cyclically with aqueous fluids of varying composition, enriched periodically in CO2, Fe, Ti, Mn, Zn and Ca. As a result, the red-brown colour of fire agates was created by scattered pigments of tiny iron oxides (magnetite, maghemite) and titanium oxides (rutile, anatase) within the silica matrix. The precipitation of strongly disordered silica with a characteristic colloform texture is diagnostic for boiling processes in this area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) may play a role in mammary gland development, milk production and secretion in mammals. Due to the limited number of scientific reports on the expression of HIF genes in colostrum cells, it was decided to examine the expression of HIF1A, HIF3A and EPAS1 in the these cells, collected from 35 patients who voluntarily agreed to provide their biological material for research, were informed about the purpose of the study and signed a consent to participate in it. The expression of HIF genes was assessed using qPCR. Additionally, the influence of clinical parameters (method of delivery, occurrence of stillbirths in previous pregnancies, BMI level before pregnancy and at the moment of delivery, presence of hypertension during pregnancy, presence of Escherichia coli in vaginal culture, iron supplement and heparin intake during pregnancy) on the gene expression was assessed, revealing statistically significant correlations. The expression of HIF1A was 3.5-fold higher in the case of patients with the presence of E. coli in vaginal culture (p = 0.041) and 2.5 times higher (p = 0.031) in samples from women who used heparin during pregnancy. Approximately 1.7-fold higher expression of the EPAS1 was observed in women who did not supplement iron during pregnancy (p = 0.046). To our knowledge, these are the first studies showing the relationship between HIF expression in cells from breast milk and the method of delivery and health condition of women giving birth. The assessment of HIF expression requires deeper examination in a larger study group, and the results of further studies will allow to determine whether HIF can become biomarkers in pregnancy pathology states. In this study, four plant matrices, including soybean, chickpea, pea, and lens, underwent fermentation by Bacillus subtilis var. natto. Then, the process influence on the content of four pesticides (clomazone, azoxystrobin, fluazifop-p-butyl, and quizalofop-p-ethyl) was evaluated, depending on the fermentation length. Fermentation was conducted for 312 h in controlled conditions of temperature and relative humidity (37 °C, 75%). The pesticide residue content in fermented seeds was assessed with the QuEChERS multiresidue method, combined with gas chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The studies demonstrated that Bacillus subtilis can biodegrade pesticides in legume seeds, with those microorganisms having a greater potential to degrade herbicides, especially fluazifop-p-butyl, and quizalofop-p-ethyl, than azoxystrobin and clomazone. The highest pesticide degradation occurred during first hours of fermentation. The quizalofop-p-ethyl and fluazifop-p-butyl levels reached < 0.02 mg/kg in nearly all studied seeds already after 48 h. At the end of fermentation (after 312 h), the azoxystrobin and clomazone levels ranged from 0.0203 mg/kg (soybean) to 0.0475 mg/kg (lens) and from 0.001 mg/kg (chickpeas) to 0.0753 mg/kg (lens), respectively. In all studied plant matrices, levels of pesticide residues were below the established MRLs, with clomazone being the sole exception. The study concerned dissipation of metazachlor and clomazone, herbicides widely used in rapeseed (Brassica napus L. subsp. napus) protection, applied to the clay soil under field and laboratory conditions. Furthermore, the uptake of these pesticide from soil by rapeseed plants was investigated under field conditions. An additional aim of this work was to modify the QuEChERS method for the determination of metazachlor and clomazone in the plant material. Analytical procedures for metazachlor and clomazone qualification and quantification in rapeseed plants and soil were developed, using gas chromatography with an micro electron capture detector (GC-μECD) and a mass detector (GC-MS/MS QqQ) as confirmation. Dissipation kinetics of herbicide residues in soil were described as first-order equations. The analytical performance was very satisfactory and confirmed that the methods meet the requirements of the European Commission. In the conducted field experiments it was found that dissipation of clomazone and metazachlor in clay soil follows first-order kinetics (R2 between 0.964 and 0.978), and half-lives were 9.5 days and 10.2 days for clomazone and metazachlor, respectively. Under laboratory conditions, dissipation of clomazone and metazachlor in soil also follows first-order kinetics (R2 between 0.937 and 0.938), and half-lives were 8.8 days and 5.7 days for clomazone and metazachlor, respectively. Residues of both herbicides in rape plants 22 days after application of herbicides were below the maximum residue levels for Brassica plants. Metazachlor and clomazone dissipate very fast in clay soil and their uptake by rape plants is very low. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
