Dry forests in Ecuador are highly valued diverse ecosystems, but under pressure from anthropogenic activities that alter their composition, structure, and dynamics. The objective of this work was to analyze the structure and abiotic conditions of the tropical dry forest of the La Pila Vieja sector in the Sancán Valley, Manabí, Ecuador. The diameter and height of individuals greater than 5 cm were recorded in plots of 0.10 ha validated by the area-species curve; The value indices of ecological importance, Simpson, Shannon, and diametric structure were calculated. 336 individuals belonging to 31 species within 28 genera and 15 families were recorded. The families with the highest number of species were: Fabaceae, Boraginaceae, Rutaceae, Moraceae and Sapindaceae. The most ecologically important species detected: Ceiba trichistandra, Bursera graveolens, Leucaena trichoides and Mauria heterophylla. According to the Shannon index, the diversity was high (3.72). The abiotic variables related to the abundance of species explained the spatial arrangement satisfactorily and explained 97,40% of the species-abiotic variable relationship. The species found are representative of the tropical dry forest with anthropogenic intervention of selective use and without technical planning, influenced by abiotic variables such as: organic matter, pH and potassium, which condition their distribution.
