The purpose of this work is to derive new NO2 vertical profiling data products from Pandora spectrometers and investigate the factors contributing to the bias of this dataset relative to established ground-based and spaceborne datasets. Possible applications of the NO2 vertical profile dataset include air quality monitoring and satellite validation studies. We explore the application of the optimal estimation method to Pandora multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) measurements to retrieve vertical profile information for nitrogen dioxide (NO2). We use the Heidelberg Profile (HeiPro) retrieval algorithm to derive, for the first time, NO2 profiles and partial columns (0–4 km) from Pandora MAX-DOAS measurements from 2018–2020 at Downsview, a suburban neighbourhood in the north end of Toronto, Canada that is subject to local traffic emissions and urban influences. Validation of the new dataset was done via comparison with official Pandora direct-Sun measurements, in situ observations, satellite data, and an air quality forecasting model. We find that, for tropospheric partial column comparisons, the HeiPro dataset has a positive mean relative bias to Pandora direct-Sun (61 % ± 9.7 %) and TROPOMI (41 % ± 47 %) observations, as well as the GEM-MACH model output (61 % ± 7.5 %), with similar seasonal and diurnal cycles in the bias with Pandora direct-Sun and GEM-MACH. Contributing factors to the large bias of HeiPro to Pandora direct-Sun were investigated, and NO2 heterogeneity, combined with differences between direct-Sun and multi-axis viewing geometries, was found to contribute a maximum of 52 % of the total relative bias during morning measurement times. For surface NO2 comparisons, we find that HeiPro measurements capture the magnitude and diurnal variability of surface NO2 reasonably well (mean relative bias to in situ surface NO2: −8.9 % ± 7.6 %) but are low-biased compared to GEM-MACH (mean relative bias: −36 % ± 2.4 %). Di(2-ethhylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a common plastic rubberizer. DEHP leaches from plastic matrices and is under increasing scrutiny as numerous studies have linked it to negative human health manifestations. Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB) is a human pathogen that typically causes subclinical infections but can sometimes cause severe diseases such as pancreatitis, myocarditis, and meningoencephalitis. Though CVB infections are common, severe illness is relatively rare, and it is unclear what factors mediate disease severity. In this study, we sought to determine the effects that DEHP has on CVB infection in a variety of human cell types to evaluate whether this plastic-derived pollutant could represent a proviral environmental factor. Methods: HeLa cervical cancer cells, human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived brain-like endothelial cells (iBECs), and Caco-2 colon carcinoma cells were exposed to 40 µg/mL DEHP for 24 h prior to infecting with enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP)-expressing CVB. The severity of the infection was evaluated via fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry-based viral EGFP detection, viral plaque assay on tissue culture media, and Western blotting to detect VP1 viral capsid protein. Interferon-associated proteins such as interferon regulatory factor (IRF) 3, IRF7, interferon-induced transmembrane (IFITM) 2, and IFITM3 were measured by Western blotting. The roles of IFITM2 and IFITM3 in the context of CVB infection were evaluated via siRNA silencing. Results: We found that DEHP drastically increased CVB infection in each of the cell types we tested, and, while the cellular processes underlying DEHP's proviral properties were not entirely clear, we observed that DEHP may subvert CVB-induced interferon signaling and elevate levels of IFITMs, which appeared to bolster CVB infection. Conclusions: DEHP may represent a major environmental factor associated with the severity of CVB infection. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infectious disorders worldwide. The most frequent cause of UTIs is uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). The current study is designed to assess the resistance of antibiotics, the formation of biofilm, and the detection of adhesion genes in E. coli isolated from patients with UTIs. A hundred and fifty samples were collected from patients with confirmed UTIs in Baghdad province during the period of October 2022 to February 2023. Isolation and identification of E. coli were performed using cultural characteristics, gram staining, and biochemical examination, and the results indicated that 52 (35%) isolates were identified as E. coli. Eleven antibiotic discs were utilized to estimate the sensitivity of E. coli isolates. 98% of isolates were resistant to ampicillin, followed by 75.5% of isolates resistant to both trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole and fosfomycin, followed by 73.5, 71.4, 67.3, 53.1, and 6.1% of isolates resistant to imipenem, ceftazidime, nitrofurantoin, cefepime, and amikacin. All isolates were sensitive to piperacillin-tazobactam, ciprofloxacin, and aztreonam at 100%, 100%, and 98%, respectively. The microtiter plate method was utilized to estimate the ability of E. coli to form biofilm. The majority of isolates (69.2%; n = 36) were moderate biofilm producers, while 19.2% (n = 10) and 11.5% (n = 6) of isolates were strong and weak biofilm producers, respectively. Background: Klippel‐Trenaunay‐Weber syndrome (KTWS) is a rare disease with a wide range of manifestations. KTWS is characterized by a clinical triad of varicosities of the extremities, cutaneous vascular malformations, and hypertrophy of soft tissues and long bones. The diagnosis is made clinically supplemented with magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. Aim: Hereby we aim to highlight the significance of the possible life‐threatening first‐time presentations associated with the GI system in previously undiagnosed KTWS patients. Patient: We report the case of a 47‐year‐old male with KTWS, who presented with various symptoms such as rectorrhagia since childhood, digestive problems and abnormal lateral vascular malformations of the left buttock which extended all the way to the leg, vascular malformations of the left fourth and fifth toes as well as soft tissue swelling of the left foot. There was no evidence of other clinical presentations. The patient was hospitalized with severe rectorrhagia and a hemoglobin level of 3/9. Physical examination revealed a blood pressure of 85/55 and pulse rate of 115. Ruptured aneurysm of the superior mesenteric artery was found on angiography and subsequently treated with embolization. Dermatologic evaluation showed pitting edema of the left leg and foot and multiple vascular lesions. Thus a diagnosis of KTWS was established. Pulsed dye laser therapy and compression bandage was performed for the patient. The patient's follow‐up was done 3 months after discharge for which the patient was again consulted by a dermatologist and gastroenterologist. Lymphedema of the left leg had improved to a great extend so treatment with compression bandage was continued. Colonoscopy was repeated for the patient to evaluate and control possible active sources of bleeding, due to potential life‐threating complications. Results: According to previous findings, there have been few case reports of KTWS presenting with gastrointestinal manifestations, fewer of which have covered acute life‐threatening bleedings associated with this system. Grain products are in the main place in ensuring food safety. The paper focuses on trends in the development of grain production in Azerbaijan. The analysis of food security, which is included in the list of global problems, taking into account the difficulties caused by the economic crisis, internal and external factors in the modern period, is quite relevant at the national level. The assessment of the availability of grain and grain products, which form the basis of food security, is the main resource of our research. An assessment of the availability of grain shows that the volume of its production is not enough to meet our domestic needs. Comparative analysis of new data on grain production, use and quality in Azerbaijan and determination of the most pressing tasks for solving the grain problem in accordance with world experience is very important. To this end, the article comprehensively analyzed the current state of grain production by analyzing the theoretical and methodological foundations of the development of grain production, identified and characterized the factors affecting grain production. In terms of ensuring food safety, the level of self-sufficiency with grain products was assessed. As a result, we tried to determine the perspective directions of the development of grain production in order to obtain a general result and ensure food security by examining the main reasons that slow down the development of grain production. Sociologists increasingly face choices among competing algorithms that represent reasonable approaches to the same task, with little guidance in choosing among them. We develop a strategy that uses simulated data to identify the conditions under which different methods perform well and applies what is learned from the simulations to predict which method will perform best on never-before-seen empirical data sets. We apply this strategy to a class of methods that group respondents to attitude surveys according to whether they share construals of a given domain. This allows us to identify the relative strengths and weaknesses of the methods we consider, including relational class analysis, correlational class analysis, and eight other such variants. Results support the "no free lunch" view that researchers should abandon the quest for one best algorithm in favor of matching algorithms to kinds of data for which each is most appropriate and provide direction on how to do so. Moral exemplar interventions have been shown to increase many positive intergroup outcomes, including perceptions of outgroup morality. However, existing research on moral exemplar interventions has only been conducted in post‐conflict contexts. This study investigates the effects of a moral exemplar intervention on outgroup evaluations in a non‐conflict context. By examining the effects on three key dimensions of outgroup evaluations (morality, sociability, and competence) in Sweden, we aim to extend the generalizability of moral exemplar interventions. An online experiment was conducted with self‐identified Swedes (N = 193) to explore the effects of outgroup (Middle Eastern) moral versus neutral exemplars. Results indicate that moral exemplar stories increased perceptions of outgroup morality while not significantly affecting perceived outgroup competence or sociability. These findings support the hypothesis that moral exemplars influence a specific positive dimension of outgroup evaluations, namely perceptions of morality, rather than any positive dimension such as sociability or competence. Recent public and scholarly discourse suggests that partisanship informs how people feel about social groups in the United States by organizing those groups into camps of political friends and enemies. More generally, this implies that Americans' attitudes toward social groups exhibit interdependence, a heretofore underexplored proposition. We develop a conceptual and methodological approach to investigating such interdependence and apply it to attitudes toward 17 social groups, the broadest set of measures available to date. We identify three subpopulations with distinct attitude logics: partisans, who feel warm toward groups commonly associated with their political party and cool toward those linked to the out-party; racials, distinguished by their consistently warmer or cooler feelings toward all racial groups relative to other forms of social group membership; and neutrals, who generally evaluate social groups neither warmly nor coolly. Individuals' social positions and experiences, particularly the strength of their partisanship, their race, and their experience of racial discrimination, inform how they construe the social space. Background  Facial nerve palsy is one of the most frequent complications after resection of vestibular schwannomas (VS). Several mechanisms have been implicated in the poor postoperative facial nerve outcome. Adherence between the facial nerve and tumor capsule is one of the most relevant factors. There is no clear preoperative parameter permitting identification of these adhesions. Objective  The aim of this study was to identify the correlation between the grade of adherence of the facial nerve to the tumor capsule and its functional outcome after VS resection. Methods  A total of 26 patients with sporadic VS (tumor sized T3, T4A, and T4B according to Hannover classification) were evaluated. Grade of adherence of the facial nerve to the tumor capsule was checked during surgery and graduated according to a proposed scale into 1 to 3 different grades. Facial nerve function was assessed postoperatively and after 1-year follow-up. Size of tumor according to Hannover classification, presence of cystic components, "cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cleft sign," and the contour of tumor capsule were tested as radiological predictors of grade of adherence to the facial nerve. Results and Conclusion  Only Grade 2 (11 cases) and 3 (15 cases) of adherence were seen in large VS. Lower grade of adherence was associated with good facial nerve outcome after 1-year follow-up (p  = 0.029). Presence of the "CSF cleft sign" and regular contour of tumor capsule were independent predictors of adherence. Background and Objectives: Helicobacter pylori, is a major etiologic agent associated with gastritis. There is more evidence of noncoding microRNAs (miRs) dysregulation in gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammation caused by Helicobacter pylori. Also, the classification of gastrointestinal malignancies using the miRs profile is better than the protein profile. MiRNA-155(miRNA-155) among other miRs plays an important role in control of inflammation and gastric malignancy, so it can be remarkable prognosis marker of gastric cancer in the phase of chronic gastritis. The aim of this study was to compare the expression of miRNA-155 in gastric biopsy and serum samples of adult patients with chronic gastritis. Materials and Methods: Biopsy and blood samples were collected from endoscopy candidates at Taleghani hospital, Tehran, during 2019. H. pylori infection was detected using histology, culture and molecular PCR methods. Based on cagA and vacA genotyping, the toxicity of H. pylori isolates were determined. After RNA extraction, the expression rate of miRNA-155 was evaluated by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in gastric tissue and serum of adults infected by H. pylori (n = 30) compared with control group without infection (n = 20). RNU6 housekeeping miRNA were used as endogenous control and statistical analyses were performed using SPSS, ANOVA and Student's t-test. Results: miRNA-155 expression in H. pylori infected adult patients increased significantly by 5.61 and 10.11 fold in serum and tissue respectively, compared to that observed in the control group. Evaluation of miRNA-155 expression pattern in relation to bacterial virulence factors showed that the increase in miRNA-155 expression is independent of CagA and VacA toxins. Conclusion: According to the differential expression patterns of miRNA-155 in serum samples of the infected adult patients, miRNA-155 has the potential to evaluate as chronic gastritis marker. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major human pathogenic bacterium that survives in the gastric mucosa. The aim of this study is to evaluate the expression of the target gene network of miR-155-5p in H. pylori-related gastritis using a combination of public gene expression datasets and web-based platforms. To evaluate the expression of genes related to gastritis, we used two datasets from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Then, we determined the overlaps between the predicted miR-155-5p target genes and gastritis-dysregulated GEO datasets genes; in the next step, we identified the possible miR-155-5p target-DEGs (Target-Differentially Expressed Genes). Also, we performed multiple bioinformatics analyses to identify the most important targets and downstream pathways associated with this miRNA. Using the UCSC cancer genomic browser analysis tool, we investigated the expression of hub genes in relation to gastric cancer and H. pylori infection, as well as the potential role of hub genes in gastritis, inflammation, and cancer. In this regard, 28 differentially expressed target genes of miR-155-5p were identified. Most of the captured target genes were correlated with the host immune response and inflammation. Based on the specific patterns of expression in gastritis and cancer, CD9, MST1R, and ADAM10 were candidates for the most probable targets of miR-155-5p. Although the focus of this study is primarily on bioinformatics, we think that our findings should be experimentally validated before they can be used as potential therapeutic and diagnostic tools. In the paper, we have tried to identify environmental problems in the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, focusing on the environmental component of sustainable development. At the same time, the system of factors determining the sustainable development of agricultural production was substantiated during the study. The purpose of the study to systematize and justify the environmental factors that contributes to the sustainable development of agricultural production. Relevance of the study ensuring food security in the context of Azerbaijan's integration into the world market urgently requires sustainable development of the agricultural sector. Information has always been a catalyst for societal improvements. Libraries play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to information resources. Enhanced accessibility helps in establishing an atmosphere that supports and promotes inclusive education. Information and resource access is quite a challenge for visually impaired people. The needs of people with varying levels of visual impairment differ in their range and magnitude. The use of assistive technologies greatly aids in closing this gap. Resource and accessibility provisions should be modified to meet the needs of visually impaired users, who need specialized equipment to access traditional and modern technology-based information resources. University libraries worldwide have used many assistive technologies to make it easier for patrons who are blind to access information resources. This research is a preliminary examination of the Dalhousie University Library's (2021) website for the assistive technology tool used to support visually impaired patrons and students. The research examines the assistive technologies used by Canadian university libraries similar to Dalhousie Libraries and offers potential implementation recommendations for Dalhousie Libraries to increase their arsenal of assistive technologies to support and promote access to visually impaired users. Aim/Purpose The aim of this study is to identify Critical Success Factors (CSF) of Business Intelligence (BI) and provide a framework to classify CSF into layers or perspectives using an enterprise architecture approach, then rank CSF within each perspective and evaluate the importance of each perspective at different BI maturity levels as well. Background Although the implementation of the BI project has a significant impact on creating analytical and competitive capabilities, the lack of evaluation of CSF holistically is still a challenge. Moreover, the BI maturity level of the organization has not been considered in the BI implementation project. Identifying BI critical success factors and their importance can help the project team to move to a higher maturity level in the organization. Methodology First, a list of distinct CSF is identified through a literature review. Second, a framework is provided for categorizing these CSF using enterprise architecture. Interviewing is the research method used to evaluate the importance of CSF and framework layers with two questionnaires among experts. The first questionnaire was done by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), a quantitative method of decision-making to calculate the weight of the CSF according to the importance of CSF in each of the framework layers. The second one was conducted to evaluate framework layers at different BI maturity levels using a Likert scale. Contribution This paper contributes to the implementation of BI projects by identifying a comprehensive list of CSF in the form of a holistic multi-layered framework and ranking the importance of CSF and layers at BI maturity levels. Findings The most important CSF in BI implementation projects include senior management support, process identification, data quality, analytics quality, hardware quality, security standards, scope management, documentation, project team skills, and customer needs transformation, which received the highest scores in framework layers. In addition, it was observed that as the organization moves to higher levels of maturity, the average importance of strategic business and security perspectives or layers increases. But the average importance of data, applications, infrastructure, and network, the project management layers in the proposed framework is the same regardless of the level of business intelligence maturity. Recommendations for Practitioners The results of this paper can be used by academicians and practitioners to improve BI project implementation through understanding a comprehensive list of CSF and their importance. This awareness causes us to focus on the most important CSF and have better planning to reach higher levels of maturity according to the maturity level of the organization. Three metal complexes, [Cu(L1)]2 (1), [Cu(L2)] (2) and [Ni(L2) (H2O)2]·1.5H2O (3), were synthesized using two different ligands (H2L1=N,N′-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methyl-benzylidene)-2-hydroxy-propane-1,3-diamine and H2L2=N,N′-bis(2-acetyl-indane-1,3-dione)-2-hydroxy-propane-1,3-diamine) and characterized by different spectroscopic methods. Complex 1 was studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In 1, each Cu(II) metal center has distorted square pyramidal structure. Complexes 2 and 3 have square planar and octahedral geometries, respectively. The interaction of calf-thymus DNA (CT-DNA) with H2L2 and the metal complexes (1–3) has been probed by UV–Vis absorption, photoluminescence, cyclic voltammetry and viscosity measurements. Background: Baboon syndrome is a rare, type IV hypersensitivity reaction causing a maculopapular rash. Tamoxifen is an antineoplastic agent, working as an estrogen receptor antagonist, also called a selective estrogen receptor modulator. A variety of rashes were reported with Tamoxifen use to‐date except baboon syndrome. The Tamoxifen‐induced baboon syndrome seems to be reversible, as discontinuation of the drug improves clinical outcomes. Aim: Herein, we present the first case of Tamoxifen‐induced baboon syndrome which occurred 8 years after initiation of Tamoxifen use. Patients: A 44‐year‐old woman presented with papulovesicular eruption on her body and erythema on her face for a duration of 6 months. There was no evidence of ocular or mucosal involvement. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and treated with tamoxifen 10 mg twice daily over the past 8 years. She was not taking other medications or over‐the‐counter supplements at the time of presentation. The patient underwent urgent skin biopsies of two lesions on her buttock and thigh. No organisms were seen on Gram stain. The patient's skin biopsy revealed extensive hyperorthokeratosis, minimal parakeratosis, hypergranulosis, and lichenoid interface dermatitis in the irregularly acanthotic epidermis supporting diagnosis of fixed drug eruption. Following a multidisciplinary discussion, the patient was diagnosed with baboon syndrome or symmetrical drug‐related intertriginous and flexural exanthema (SDRIFE) associated with Tamoxifen. Results: Hence, Tamoxifen was immediately discontinued and treated with oral steroid along with topical agents. She showed improvement of clinical abnormalities within days after discontinuation of Tamoxifen. Conclusions: Given the widespread use of Tamoxifen in the management of patients with breast cancer, it is important that healthcare professionals monitor for rare, however clinically significant, and potentially life‐threatening dermatological manifestations of Tamoxifen use, such as baboon syndrome. Background: Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP)is a rare, severe skin reactionmainly caused by medications such as antibiotics, anti fungals, Calcium channel blockers and Anti malarias. Although it resolves spontaneously in most patients, systemic corticosteroids are neededin severe cases. Aims: In order to determine the drug that is causing this condition, patch testing must be performed. Hydroxychloroquine is a medication that is used for the treatment of rheumatic and dermatologic conditions. And although it has been rarely seen to cause this reaction, we report a case of Hydroxychloroquine‐induced (HCQ) AGEP which was confirmed by Patch testing. Patients: A woman 49 years of age with an18 month history of mild, untreated Rheumatoid Arthritis experienced an acute episode of arthritis in her right elbow. Upon going to a rheumatologist, Prednisolone 5 mg BID and HCQ 200 mg daily were administered for a 30‐day period. But after only 17 days of this treatment, the patient developed generalized erythema and painful pustular eruptions. Prednisolone dosage was changedto 7.5 mg per day andHCQ was discontinued one day afterthe appearance of eruptions. The diffuse erythema started improving a week after the patient's hospitalization.Considering the factthat our patient was receiving multiple potentially causative medications, patch testing was necessary to distinguish the drug responsible for this reaction. Results: After the patch testing was done, HCQ‐induced AGEP was confirmed. Conclusions: Patch testing is the gold standard of determining the responsible drug for an AGEP reaction. Neurovascular compression syndromes have well characterized clinical symptoms, but precise identification of the pathologic contact between the nerves and vessels can be challenging at neuroimaging. Considering that neurovascular contacts are frequent imaging findings in asymptomatic patients, correct visualization of pathological contact is crucial for the diagnosis and surgical planning. We have used magnetic resonance imaging fusion by overlaying color-coded T1-weighted postcontrast onto high-resolution T2-weighted images to better delineate imaging findings by enhancing vascular structures. Background: AA is an acquired dermatosis distributed universally, with multifactorial etiology. It affects the hair follicle with or without nail involvement, resulting in an acute nonscarring alopecia with a relapsing course.1 Being a relatively common skin disease, LPP (lichen planopilaris) is initiated by a chronic lymphocytic inflammation that selectively destructs the hair follicles and eventually leads to scarring alopecia. Also, even though there is enough literature available for the co‐existence of AA and LPP with each other and their association with other autoimmune conditions, there are only very few reports on the anatomical concomitance of both disorders.3 Aims: Although the incidence of not only one but two autoimmune diseases in an immunosuppressed individual is very unusual, we hereby report a case of co‐localization of AA and LPP in a patient receiving immunosuppression due to a previous history of SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus). Patients: A 37‐year‐old woman, housewife, presented to our office with general alopecia on the scalp since about two years ago (Figure 1), particularly on the vertex which was accompanied by mild itching and trichodynia. She had a history of hypothyroidism and lupus erythematosus arthritis. She had been receiving long‐term treatment with prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, azathioprine, and levothyroxine but had not been treated for hair loss. Despite being on all of the above‐mentioned immunosuppressants, the patient developed AA and LPP which are both immune‐mediated diseases. Results: In addition to continuing her oral immunosuppressants, the patient was treated with Minoxidil 5% and Clobetasol solution as well as a higher dose of Azathioprine than she was receiving beforehand. Approximately, 3 months into the treatment, the follicular hyperkeratosis and scalp erythema resolved. Also, hair growth could be seen on AA spots. Conclusion: Our case report is indicating the possibly mutual immunopathogenesis of these two T cell–mediated disorders. Objective  Surgical treatment of Eagle's syndrome remains the mainstay of treatment. Palsy of the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve is the most significant complication encountered in transcervical resections, due to direct compression during the approach. We proposed a modification of the craniocervical approach to the jugular foramen to resect the styloid process avoiding the marginal mandibular branch and subsequent palsy. Design  This is a single-center retrospective cohort study. Setting  The research was conducted at a tertiary medical center. Participants  From November 2008 to October 2018, 12 patients with Eagle's syndrome underwent treatment using our modified approach. Main Outcome Measures  Demographic data, type of Eagle's syndrome, symptomatic side, size of the styloid process, clinical outcomes, and complications were analyzed. Results  Mean size of the styloid processes was of 3.34 cm on the operated side (2.3–4.7 cm) and 2.98 cm on the other (2–4.2 cm). Intraoperative facial nerve irritation occurred in one case. Resection of the entire styloid process was achieved in all cases. Eight cases experienced complete improvement, three cases had a partial response, and one case failed to improve. There were no cases of recurrence. Two patients presented transient postoperative auricular paresthesia. There were no cases of mandibular branch palsy, nor any other complications in our series. The paper examines the stages of agricultural development strategies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Taking into account that, our country is among the developing countries, agriculture is one of the leading sectors in the country after the oil industry. Agriculture plays an important role in the food security of the country and the socio-economic development of the regions. From this point of view, the state has always focused on the development of agriculture. Considering all the things mentioned above, the article has attempted to show the dynamics of development of agriculture in the economy of the country. Also, the article assessed the current state of agriculture in accordance with agrarian reforms carried out in the post-Soviet period and after the independence of the state. In the development of a competitive environment, the owner entities play large role. In the article found a place, development of enterprises in agriculture and their regulation by the state in accordance with the requirements of a market economy. Also, the dynamics of production, productivity and self-sufficiency of the main types of crop and livestock products were analyzed and evaluated on the basis of statistical data of the Azerbaijan Republic. It should be noted, the assessment also examined the impact of agrarian reforms on agricultural development after state independence. Tinea capitis (TC) is the most common dermatophyte scalp infection in children and an unusual dermatophytosis in adults. The clinical appearance of tinea capitis is highly variable and depends on the causative organism, type of hair invasion, and degree of the host inflammatory response. The commonly observed features are patchy hair loss with varying degrees of scaling and erythema. The clinical signs may be subtle and diagnosis may be challenging. We report the case of an adult patient with tinea capitis mimicking alopecia areata. The patient was initially diagnosed with alopecia areata and completed one month of treatment without clinical benefits. In view of no clinical signs of tinea capitis, a biopsy was performed. A scalp punch biopsy revealed an endothrix dermatophytosis. The patient's medication was switched to 250 mg terbinafine daily for 8 weeks and 2% ketoconazole shampoo. Malignant gliomas are the most prevalent primary malignant cerebral tumors. Preoperative imaging plays an important role, and the prognosis is closely related to surgical resection and histomolecular aspects. Our goal was to correlate Ki67 indexes with tumoral volumetry in semiautomatic segmentation on preoperative magnetic resonance images and residual fluorescence in a 5-ALA-assisted resection cohort. We included 86 IDH-wildtype glioblastoma patients with complete preoperative imaging submitted to 5-ALA assisted resections. Clinical, surgical, and histomolecular findings were also obtained. Preoperative magnetic resonance studies were preprocessed and segmented semiautomatically on Visualization and Analysis for whole tumor (WT) on 3D FLAIR, enhancing tumor (ET), and necrotic core on 3D postgadolinium T1. We performed a linear regression analysis for Ki67 and a multivariate analysis for surgical outcomes. Higher Ki-67 indexes correlated positively with higher WT (P = 0.048) and ET (P = 0.002). Lower Ki67 correlated with 5-ALA free margins (P = 0.045). WT and ET volumes correlated with the extent of resection (EOR; P = 0.002 and 0.002, respectively). Eloquence did not impact EOR (P = 0.14). There is a correlation between Ki67, the metabolically active tumoral volumes (WT and ET), and 5-ALA residual fluorescence. Methodological inconsistencies are probably responsible for contradictory literature findings, and further prospective studies are needed to validate and reproduce these findings. The structural motif of coumarins is related with various biological activities and pharmacological properties. Both natural coumarin extracted from various plants or a new coumarin derivative synthesized by modification of the basic structure of coumarin, in vitro experiments showed that coumarins are a promising class of anti-tumor agents with high selectivity. Cancer is a complex and multifaceted group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled and abnormal growth of cells in the body. This review focuses on the anticancer mechanism of various coumarins synthesized and isolated in more than a decade. Isopentenyloxycoumarins inhibit angiogenesis by reducing CCl2 chemokine levels. Ferulin C is a potent colchicine-binding agent that destabilizes microtubules, exhibiting antiproliferative and anti-metastatic effects in breast cancer cells through PAK1 and PAK2-mediated signaling. Trimers of triphenylethylene-coumarin hybrids demonstrated significant proliferation inhibition in HeLa, A549, K562, and MCF-7 cell lines. Platinum(IV) complexes with 4-hydroxycoumarin have the potential for high genotoxicity against tumor cells, inducing apoptosis in SKOV-3 cells by up-regulating caspase 3 and caspase 9 expression. Derivatives of 3-benzyl coumarin seco-B-ring induce apoptosis, mediated through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. Purpose: Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) is one of the prominent Universities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), of the Government of Abu Dhabi. The new Khalifa University was re-constituted in the year 2017 by merging three higher education institutions in Abu Dhabi, the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research and the Petroleum Institute. The objectives of these institutions and their research areas were entirely disparate in the pre-merger era and hence the evaluation of the research performance of its pre-merged entities in the past is vital for Khalifa University to plan for the future course of actions. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach: This study analyzes and visualizes scholarly publications of Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) using SCOPUS data. There are various qualitative and quantitative methods to measure research performance. This study adopted citation analysis, one of the widely recognized quantitative metrics to measure the citation impact of scholarly publications. Findings: Khalifa University leads in productivity compared to other UAE universities but the citation impact of its publications is less in comparison to United Arab Emirates University and New York University, Abu Dhabi in terms of citations per publication. The majority of KU publications are not highly cited. The majority of the KU publications (80 percent) received fewer citations and few papers (20 percent of the KU publications) attracted 80 percent of the total citations received for KU publications. Analysis results indicate that publishing in top-ranked journals would improve the chance of getting more citations. On average, eight percentage difference is seen in the h-index of KU authors when removing self-citations. Research limitations/implications: The study considered only publications that are indexed in SCOPUS. It covered a limited set of sources as per the SCOPUS editorial policy. Most of the covered sources are journals and conference proceedings. Books' data coverage in Citation Index is comparatively low, which may affect results regarding social sciences and humanities publications because book publication is more prominent in these subject areas. Khalifa University is a science and technology university, and the majority of its academic departments fall in science and technology domains. Even though there are few arts and humanities departments in the University, it will not affect the overall findings of the results of the analysis. Recent scholarship suggests that the genomes of those around us affect our own phenotypes. Much of the empirical evidence for such "metagenomic" effects comes from animal studies, where the socio-genetic environment can be easily manipulated. Among humans, it is more difficult to identify such effects given the nonrandom distribution of genes and environments. Here we leverage the as-if-random distribution of grade-mates' genomes conditional on school-level variation in a nationally representative sample. Specifically, we evaluate whether one's peers' genetic propensity to smoke affects one's own smoking behavior net of one's own genotype. Results show that peer genetic propensity to smoke has a substantial effect on an individual's smoking outcome. This is true not only when the peer group includes direct friends, and therefore where the individual plays an active role in shaping the metagenomic context but also when the peer group includes all grade-mates and thus in cases where the individual does not select the metagenomic environment. We explore these effects further and show that a small minority with high genetic risk to smoke ('bad apples') can greatly affect the smoking behavior of an entire grade. The methodology used in this paper offers a potential solution to many of the challenges inherent in estimating peer effects in nonexperimental settings and can be utilized to study a wide range of outcomes with a genetic basis. The caudal primate prefrontal cortex (PFC) is involved in target selection and visually guided saccades through both covert attention and overt orienting eye movements. Unilateral damage to the caudal PFC often leads to decreased awareness of a contralesional target alone, referred to as "neglect," or when it is presented simultaneously with an ipsilesional target, referred to as "extinction." In the current study, we examined whether deficits in contralesional target selection were due to contralesional oculomotor deficits, such as slower reaction times. We experimentally induced a focal ischemic lesion in the right caudal PFC of 4 male macaque monkeys using the vasoconstrictor endothelin-1 and measured saccade choice and reaction times on double-stimulus free-choice tasks and single-stimulus trials before and after the lesion. We found that 1) endothelin-1-induced lesions in the caudal PFC produced contralesional target selection deficits that varied in severity and duration based on lesion volume and location; 2) contralesional neglect-like deficits were transient and recovered by week 4 postlesion; 3) contralesional extinction-like deficits were longer lasting and recovered by weeks 8-16 postlesion; 4) contralesional reaction time returned to baseline well before the contralesional choice deficit had recovered; and 5) neither the mean reaction times nor the reaction time distributions could account for the degree of contralesional extinction on the free-choice task throughout recovery. These findings demonstrate that the saccade choice bias observed after a right caudal PFC lesion is not exclusively due to contralesional motor deficits, but instead reflects a combination of impaired motor and attentional processing. Fluoroquinolone-type antimicrobials can cause hypo- or hyperglycemia in certain patients. We reported the case of a young male with no history of any condition and use of medication present with cellulitis. He developed hypoglycemic episodes with levofloxacin. Levofloxacin can cause new onset hypoglycemia and fainting in non-diabetic patients. This study suggests that levofloxacin can cause hypoglycemia even in nondiabetic and previously healthy patients. The seriousness of hypoglycemia and the few reported deaths also underscore the importance of early detection and appropriate management of patients with hypoglycemia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Topical application of Vitamin K1 has been demonstrated to effectively treat papulopustular skin rash, a serious and frequently encountered side effect of Epidermal Growth Factor Inhibitors (EGFRIs). Systemic absorption of vitamin K1 from skin and the resultant consequence of antagonizing EGFRIs anticancer effects jeopardizes the clinical acceptability of this rather effective treatment. The purpose of the present study was to rationally formulate and evaluate the release rate and transdermal absorption of a wide range of Vitamin K1 dermal preparations with a variety of physiochemical properties. A library of 33 formulations with were compounded and tested for Vitamin K1 permeation using hydrophobic membranes and porcine skin mounted in a Fran diffusion cells. Our results demonstrate the lowest diffusion for water-in-oil emulsions, which also demonstrated a negligible transdermal absorption. The statistical analysis showed a significant correlation between in vitro and ex vivo results. While viscosity did not have a significant impact on the diffusion or absorption of vitamin K1, an increase in the lipid content was correlated with an increase in transmembrane diffusion (not with transdermal absorption). Overall, formulation design significantly impacts the release rate and transdermal absorption of vitamin K1, and confirms the possibility of minimal systemic distribution of this vitamin for this specific purpose. Background: According to our research, just few studies described 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) use for spinal injuries resection. 5-ALA is known to be especially useful in certain spinal tumor entities such as meningiomas, ependymomas, hemangiopericytomas, and metastasis of central nervous system primary tumors. In contrast, 5-ALA has limited value in other histopathological tumoral entities, as neurinomas and carcinoma metastasis.Method: We describe a microsurgical resection of a spinal cord melanoma through fluorescence-guided technique using 5-ALA in a 36-year-old man.Results: Strong 5-ALA tumor enhancement was evidenced, resulting in gross-total resection.Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first case of nonglial intramedullary metastasis with 5-ALA positive staining. Attitude data can reveal culture’s secrets, but only if analysts acknowledge and transcend two problematic forms of heterogeneity. The first, relational heterogeneity, reflects the fact that the meaning of a response to a survey attitude question emerges from its relation to other attitudes: considered singly, the same response may mean different things to different respondents, depending upon the meanings with which they associate it. The second, population heterogeneity, a common problem in survey analysis, reflects the fact that attitudes may be related to one another in systematically different ways for different respondent subsamples. To overcome these challenges, we must use analytic methods that (a) focus on relations among attitude responses rather than on single responses and (b) partition survey samples into subsets based on patterns emergent from those relations. We use two such approaches, Latent Class Analysis and Relational Class Analysis, to examine Americans’ attitudes toward science and religion in the late 20th century, at the onset of a period of acute cultural contention between religious conservatives and secular liberals. Employing an unusually rich data set that enables us to take into account spiritualism (supernatural experience not sanctioned by formal religious institutions), as well as science and religion, we find that both LCA and RCA identify large subsets of respondents for whom science and religion are allied, rather than opposed. Moreover, RCA enables us to examine how the determinants of attitudes toward science, religion, and spiritualism are conditioned upon respondents’ construals of the relationships among them. This diversity of opinion among religious Americans and the presence of a previously overlooked religious constituency of science supporters, has important implications for science policy and science advocacy. The common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) is a small New World primate that is becoming increasingly popular in the neurosciences as an animal model of preclinical human disease. With several major disorders characterized by alterations in neural white matter (e.g., multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia), proposed to be transgenically modeled using marmosets, the ability to isolate and characterize reliably major white matter fiber tracts with MRI will be of use for evaluating structural brain changes related to disease processes and symptomatology. Here, we propose protocols for isolating major white matter fiber tracts in the common marmoset using in vivo ultrahigh-field MRI (9.4T) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) data. With the use of a high angular-resolution DWI (256 diffusion-encoding directions) sequence, collected on four anesthetized marmosets, we provide guidelines for manually drawing fiber-tracking regions of interest, based on easily identified anatomical landmarks in DWI native space. These fiber-tract isolation protocols are expected to be experimentally useful for visualization and quantification of individual white matter fiber tracts in both control and experimental groups of marmosets (e.g., transgenic models). As disease models in the marmoset advance, the determination of how macroscopic white matter anatomy is altered as a function of disease state will be relevant in bridging the existing translational gap between preclinical rodent models and human patients. A number of beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs have been reported to be upon the most common causative agents for drug-induced psoriatic lesions. Apparently this adverse reaction appears after several months of continuous therapy. In our case psoriasis eruption is associated with bisoprolol (B1-blocker) therapy in a man without previous skin lesions and history of psoriasis. The biopsy demonstrated psoriasiform dermatitis with spongiosis and parakeratosis. The pathogenic mechanisms to be discussed are the pharmacological effects on the epidermal beta-adrenergic adenylate cyclase-cyclic AMP system and on the excessive release of lysosomal enzymes. Pneumococcal autolysins are enzymes involved in cell wall turnover and cellular division physiologically. They have been found to be involved in the pneumococcus pathogenesis. The aim of this study was to identify the autolytic activity of Spr1754 as a novel protein of Streptococcus pneumoniae. Moreover, the binding of the recombinant protein to plasma proteins was also determined. The spr1754 gene was amplified by PCR and cloned into the pET21a(+) prokaryotic expression vector. The constructed pET21a(+)/spr1754 recombinant plasmid was transformed into E. coli Origami (DE3) and induced using IPTG. The recombinant protein of Spr1754 was purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and confirmed by SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis using anti-His tag monoclonal antibody. Autolytic activity and the ability of the recombinant protein in binding to plasma proteins were performed using zymogram analysis and western blot, respectively. The spr1754 with expected size was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli Origami (DE3), successfully. After purification of the Spr1754 recombinant protein, the autolytic activity was observed by zymography. Of the four plasma proteins used in this study, binding of lactoferrin to Spr1754 recombinant protein was shown.
