To compare the effects of High-Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT) versus Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) on shoulder pain and disability, shoulder Range of Motion (ROM), Pain Pressure Threshold (PPT), and sleep quality of patients having Subacromial Impingement Syndrome (SAIS). Forty-two patients with SAIS were randomly assigned into three groups, the HILT group (n = 14), the LLLT group (n = 14), and control group (n = 14). All groups received an exercise program consisted of shoulder muscles stretching and strengthening exercises. Along with the exercise program, the HILT group received HILT at 810 nm /980 nm, and LLLT group received LLLT at 904 nm, three times weekly for three weeks. The primary outcome was the change in shoulder pain and disability measured by Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI). Secondary outcomes included shoulder ROM using a standard goniometer, PPT measured by pressure algometer, and sleep quality by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Measurements were taken both before and after a 3-week intervention to assess the outcomes. After 3-wk intervention, both the HILT and LLLT groups exhibited significant improvements in all parameters when compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Additionally, there were clinically significant differences between groups supported by a large ES favoring the HILT group for SPADI pain (ηp2 = 0.71), SPADI disability (ηp2 = 0.54), SPADI total (ηp2 = 0.82), PPT (ηp2 = 0.63), and PSQI (ηp2 = 0.42). The combination of HILT with exercises proved to be more beneficial in enhancing pain and function, PPT, and sleep quality compared to LLLT combined with exercises in treating patients with SAIS. AbstractPurposeMaterials and methodsResultsConclusions\nIMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThis study compares the effect of intensive motor learning approaches on improving the quality of upper extremity skills in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP) by working on vertical surfaces versus horizontal surfaces during rehabilitation sessions.Forty UCP children of both sexes were randomized into two equal groups. All participants received 60 min of intensive motor learning approaches three days/week for three successive months. These approaches included constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT), in which children wore a splint or sling on the unaffected upper limb, as well as hand-arm bimanual intensive training (HABIT) that requires the use of both hands during specific play-based activities. The control group received training on a horizontal surface while the child sat in front of an elbow-height table while the study group (vertical surface training) sat or stood in front of a wall/mirror/board. Objectives: To compare the impact of core stability exercises versus Biodex balance training on postural stability and sway among patients suffering from mechanical low back pain. Methods: The study was conducted in the outpatient clinic of the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Modern University for Technology and Information, between March and June 2023. This randomized, double-blind, pre-post measurement study included forty-eight patients have been participated in this study and divided into three groups, Group A (control group) (n = 18) were given stretching as well as strengthening exercises. Group B (n = 18) were given core stability exercises plus stretching as well as strengthening exercises. Group C (n = 18) were given Biodex balance training (limit of stability, maze, and random control modes training) plus stretching as well as strengthening exercises. The Biodex Balance System were utilized to quantify dynamic balance indices at baseline and six weeks following therapy. Statistical analysis among groups for eye open firm, eye closed firm, eye open foam, and eye closed foam revealed from the Modified clinical test of sensory interaction and balance which were the main outcome indicator. Results: The Within-Group analysis revealed substantial differences regarding postural stability as well as control of postural sway for groups B and C, both prior to and following the treatment program (p value < 0.05). The between-group analysis revealed statistically substantial variations across all variables following the therapy, with Group C exhibiting further pronounced differences compared to Groups A and B (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Enhancement in all measures of dynamic balance was shown following core stability training activities and Biodex balance training, with a greater degree of improvement seen after Biodex balance training. Objective To analyze how Pilates exercises affect standing, walking, and balance in children with diplegic cerebral palsy throughout a 10-week program. Methods We included 40 children aged 7-9 years with diplegic cerebral palsy, and randomly allocated them into two groups of the same size: conventional therapy group (group A) and conventional therapy+Pilates group (group B). We administered the same conventional physical therapy program to both groups for 45 minutes, with group B receiving additional Pilates exercises for 45 minutes. Both groups attended the intervention program three times/week for 10 weeks. We used the Growth Motor Function Measure Scale (GMFM-88) to evaluate standing and walking (Dimensions D and E), and the Pediatric Balance Scale to evaluate balance function before and after treatment. Results Comparison of the average values of all measured variables before and after therapy showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) between the two groups. All measured variables showed a significant difference between groups A and B, in favor of group B (p<0.05). Conclusion Pilates exercise in addition to conventional therapy is more effective in improving balance and gross motor function in children with diplegic cerebral palsy than the conventional therapy alone.
