Indonesia was chosen as the object of research by several ethnobotanical researchers because it is a country rich in natural resources of flora and fauna. The combination of various flora and fauna as well as various ethnic groups and cultures of the Indonesian people has diversity in processing existing natural resources. Pare-pare is one of the cities in South Sulawesi Province which was formerly a municipality and has grown rapidly, inhabited by people from various ethnic groups including Bugis, Makassar, Mandar, Toraja and other immigrant tribes. The method used in this research is interviews, observation and documentation with a total of 100 informants in four sub-districts in the city of Pare-pare. Obtained as many as 86 species from 40 families as ingredients of traditional medicine. The species from the Zingiberaceae family are the most widely used as ingredients in traditional medicine. Pare-pare's people utilize several types of medicinal plants for other purposes such as spices, food flavoring, fish odor remover and natural food coloring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
