The article discusses research being done on the outcome of endoscopic sinus surgery for treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis in children with and without documented allergy. It references a study by H. H. Ramaden et al in a 2006 issue of the "American Journal of Rhinology." The study showed an 80% overall success rate for endoscopic sinus surgery. Compared with the 84% success rate for the nonallergic group, the allergic group had 77% success rate after sinus surgery. A 62% success rate was also seen in allergic children who underwent sinus surgery without preoperative allergy treatment.
