This article discusses the optimal timing for implanting a permanent pacemaker (PM) after aortic valve replacement (AVR). Traditionally, a waiting period of 5-7 days was recommended, but recent guidelines suggest earlier implantation under certain circumstances. The study evaluated patients who received AVR between January 2019 and December 2021 and found that 12.4% required temporary or permanent pacing. The incidence of permanent PM implantation was 11.3%, with a median duration of 8 days. Early PM implantation was associated with a higher complication rate but a shorter hospital stay.
