The relative errors of virtual cathodes calculated by using the one-dimensional virtual cathode theory are analyzed and discussed. The studies of the error analysis show that the cathode temperature is the major factor affecting the calculated results of virtual cathodes, especially for calculations of the virtual cathode width. The smaller the virtual cathode produced by a hot cathode, the more significant the relative error of the virtual cathode caused by the uncertainties of electron emission parameters. Using the accurate cathode temperature, the potential barrier and the spatial width of virtual cathodes generated by a tungsten filament are calculated with experimental and theoretical electron emission parameters. The calculated results show that there is a strong linear correlation between the potential barrier of the virtual cathode and the heating current of the tungsten filament, which is independent of the electron collection current. With the increase in the heating current, the variation of the virtual cathode width is very sensitive to the relation between the electron collection current and the heating current. The valence and conduction band offsets at the interfaces between NiO/AlN, SiO2/AlN, Al2O3/AlN, and ITO/AlN heterointerfaces were determined via x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy using the standard Kraut technique. These represent systems that potentially would be used for p-n junctions, gate dielectrics, and improved Ohmic contacts to AlN, respectively. The band alignments at NiO/AlN interfaces are nested, type-I heterojunctions with a conduction band offset of −0.38 eV and a valence band offset of −1.89 eV. The SiO2/AlN interfaces are also nested gap, type-I alignment with a conduction band offset of 1.50 eV and a valence band offset of 0.63 eV. The Al2O3/AlN interfaces are type-II (staggered) heterojunctions with a conduction band offset of −0.47 eV and a valence band offset of 0.6 eV. Finally, the ITO/AlN interfaces are type-II (staggered) heterojunctions with conduction band offsets of −2.73 eV and valence band offsets of 0.06 eV. The use of a thin layer of ITO between a metal and the AlN is a potential approach for reducing contact resistance on power electronic devices, while SiO2 is an attractive candidate for surface passivation or gate dielectric formation on AlN. Given the band alignment of the Al2O3, it would only be useful as a passivation layer. Quantum networks can establish End-to-End (E2E) entanglement connections between two arbitrary nodes with desired entanglement fidelity by performing entanglement purification to support quantum applications reliably. The existing works mainly focus on link-level purification scheduling and lack consideration of purifications at network-level, which fails to offer an effective solution for concurrent requests, resulting in low throughput. However, efficiently allocating scarce resources to purify entanglement for concurrent requests remains a critical but unsolved problem. To address this problem, we explore the purification resource scheduling problem from a network-level perspective. We analyze the cost of purification, design the E2E fidelity calculation method in detail, and propose an approach called Purification Scheduling Control (PSC). The basic idea of PSC is to determine the appropriate purification through jointly optimizing purification and resource allocation processes based on conflict avoidance. We conduct extensive experiments that show that PSC can maximize throughput under the fidelity requirement. In quantum networks, entanglement purification is required to ensure that the E2E fidelity of the entanglement connections can support quantum applications reliably. This study investigated the use of endophyte-assisted Tillandsia brachycaulos to enhance formaldehyde removal in indoor environments. A formaldehyde-degrading endophyte from the root of Epipremnum aureum , Pseudomonas plecoglossicida , was identified and used for inoculation. Among the inoculation methods, spraying proved to be the most effective, resulting in a significant 35 % increase in formaldehyde removal after 36 hours. The results of the light exposure experiment (3000 Lux) demonstrate that an increase in light intensity reduces the efficiency of the Tillandsia brachycaulos -microbial system in degrading formaldehyde. In a 15-day formaldehyde fumigation experiment at 2 ppm in a normal indoor environment, the inoculated Tillandsia brachycaulos exhibited removal efficiency ranging from 42.53 % to 66.13 %, while the uninoculated declined from 31.62 % to 3.17 %. The Pseudomonas plecoglossicida (referred to as PP-1) became the predominant bacteria within the Tillandsia brachycaulos after fumigation. Moreover, the endophytic inoculation effectively increased the resistance and tolerance of Tillandsia brachycaulos to formaldehyde, as evidenced by lower levels of hydroxyl radical, malondialdehyde (MDA), free protein, and peroxidase activity (POD), as well as higher chlorophyll content compared to uninoculated Tillandsia brachycaulos. These findings indicate that the combination of endophytic bacteria and Tillandsia brachycaulos has significant potential for improving indoor air quality. Piezo-photocatalysis is a "green" approach to decompose various pollutants using natural clean energy. Herein, a series of ZnSnO 3 /C nanofibers with excellent piezo-photocatalytic activities were reported. The XRD, TEM and SEM, as well as XPS measurements were carried out and the results indicate that ZnSnO 3 /C nanofibers with the orthorhombic phase were fabricated successfully. The UV–vis absorbance spectra, photocurrent response, EIS curves and photoluminescence characteristics indicate that the incorporated C decreases the band gap of ZnSnO 3 and improves separation efficiency of photoinduced charge-hole pairs, which results in higher catalytic activity of ZnSnO 3 /C nanofibers. The photocatalytic, piezocatalytic and piezo-photocatalytic activities were investigated by degrading diclofenac. The ZnSnO 3 /C‒0.3 ‰ has the highest reaction constant among the series of catalysts. The reaction constat of ZnSnO 3 /C‒0.3 ‰ in photocatalysis process (0.0185 min−1) is 2.15 times that of ZnSnO 3. The reaction constat of ZnSnO 3 /C‒0.3 ‰ in piezo-photocatalysis process (0.0549 min−1) is 2.97 times that of ZnSnO 3 /C‒0.3 ‰ in photocatalysis and 3.47 times that of ZnSnO 3 in piezo-photocatalysis (0.0158 min−1). This study presents an innovative approach utilising molecular dynamics simulations to elucidate the polymerisation and neck formation mechanisms of phenolic resin during laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF). By developing system and dual-particle models and employing infrared thermal imaging, we established a heat source model for phenolic resin under varying parameters. Our molecular dynamics simulations, using the ReaxFF reactive force field, indicate that high-power lasers significantly enhance cross-linking, achieving a peak polymerisation degree of 78.9% at 30W and 35W power levels. Conversely, increased scanning speed slows product degradation, reducing the polymerisation degree. The interplay of laser power and scanning speed influences polymerisation, with total input energy and heating rate impacting polymerisation and molecular size. Additionally, we investigated neck formation, revealing that small vortices evolve into larger ones during sintering, promoting neck formation. Optical microscopy confirmed diverse neck shapes under different conditions. Quantitative data showed that at a scanning speed of 1000 mm/s, the polymerisation degree reached 93%, with only 2 molecules remaining post-simulation. At 30W power, the largest individual molecule observed was C849H703O117. The Taihu Lake basin is one of the fastest-growing regions in China, where the natural environment has been seriously affected by humans. The plant area index (PAI) is an important parameter reflecting the change in vegetation growth, which plays a crucial role in studying vegetation growth and protecting the ecological environment. Advancements in remote sensing technology, complemented by machine learning techniques, have facilitated the accurate and efficient acquisition of PAI over large areas. In this study, the Taihu Lake Basin vegetation area was taken as the research object. Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) point cloud data and Landsat-8 remote sensing images were the primary information sources. MODIS land cover types were utilized to classify the vegetation into six categories. Three classical machine learning models, namely, Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Regression (SVR), and Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN), were used to estimate the PAI in the Taihu Lake Basin. It was found that the RF model showed the best performance. The determination coefficients (R2) for grassland, evergreen forest, mixed forest, deciduous forest, farmland, and wetland were 0.71, 0.67, 0.69, 0.66, 0.65, and 0.69, respectively. Over 2000-2022, the PAI exhibited an absolute change rate of 0.035, with an overall increasing trend. The area of improved and degraded vegetation accounted for 58.33% and 41.67% of the total area, respectively. The study also revealed that PAI was positively correlated with precipitation (R = 0.64, P < 0.05) and negatively correlated with temperature (R = -0.58, P < 0.05). Different land types' effects on PAI were also analyzed, with wetland PAI having the smallest mean value and evergreen forest PAI having the most considerable mean value. This research underscores the effectiveness of integrating GEDI data and Landsat-8 imagery in PAI assessment, providing valuable insights for environmental monitoring and analysis in the Taihu Lake Basin. The application of pulsed electric field (PEF) in food processing, has gained significant attention as a key non-thermal method. Studies have shown that PEF can not only effectively inactivate common microorganisms in fruit and vegetable juices without affecting the organoleptic quality, but also effectively promote the food drying and extraction of active substances, as well as the modification of macromolecules can be effectively realized by PEF, promoting the circular economy and the reuse of processing wastes. Over the past few years, PEF technology has made substantial progress, transitioning from laboratory and pilot plant stages to large-scale industrial applications. Future research is essential to optimize PEF parameters (e.g. field strength, pulse duration) for different food materials to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, facilitating the broader adoption of PEF technology in the industry. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying PEF-induced changes in food composition is also crucial. Moreover, conducting more pilot studies will help address practical challenges, enhancing the technology’s suitability for industrial-scale applications. Relative risks (RR, 95% confidence intervals [CI]) and weighted mean differences (WMD, 95% CI) were calculated for dichotomous and continuous outcomes, respectively, under fixed or random-effects models.A total of eight clinical trials comprising 1627 patients were analyzed. The meta-analysis revealed no notable change in forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) (WMD = 0.48; 95% CI: -2.09 to 3.05), the use of albuterol as a rescue medication (WMD = -0.02; 95% CI: -0.57 to 0.52), forced vital capacity (FVC) (WMD = 0.19; 95% CI: -0.28 to 0.67) and FEV1 predicted value (WMD = 1.53; 95%CI:-0.88 to 3.94) between doxofylline and control groups. However, doxofylline treatment significantly reduced adverse reactions (RR = 0.71; 95% CI: 0.60 to 0.84) and decreased the incidence of asthma events (WMD = -0.18; 95% CI: -0.33 to 0.03). Subgroup analysis results indicated that the improvement in FEV1 with doxofylline combined with budesonide was superior to that of budesonide combined with montelukast or tiotropium but inferior to that of budesonide plus formoterol combination.Doxofylline treatment significantly reduces the risk of asthma events and adverse events (AEs), demonstrating good safety and longer-term benefits. Background: N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) methylation, a common form of RNA modification, play an important role in the pathogenesis of various diseases and in the ontogeny of organisms. Nevertheless, the precise function of m6A methylation in photoaging remains unknown. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the biological role and underlying mechanism of m6A methylation in photoaging. Methods: m6A dot blot, Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), western blot and immunohistochemical (IHC) assays were employed to detect the m6A level and specific m6A methylase in ultraviolet ray (UVR)-induced photoaging tissue. The profile of m6A-tagged mRNA was identified by methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP-seq) and RNA-seq analysis. Finally, we investigated the regulatory mechanism of KIAA1429 by MeRIP-qPCR, RNA knockdown and immunofluorescence assay. Results: m6A levels were increased in photoaging and were closely associated with the upregulation of KIAA1429 expression. 1331 differentially m6A methylated genes were identified in the UVR group compared with the control group, of which 1192 (90%) were hypermethylated. Gene ontology analysis showed that genes with m6A hypermethylation and mRNA downregulation were mainly involved in extracellular matrix metabolism and collagen metabolism-related processes. Furthermore, KIAA1429 knockdown abolished the downregulation of TGF-bRII and upregulation of MMP1 in UVR-irradiated human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs). Mechanically, we identified MFAP4 as a target of KIAA1429-mediated m6A modification and KIAA1429 might suppress collagen synthesis through an m6A-MFAP4-mediated process. Conclusions: The increased expression of KIAA1429 hinders collagen synthesis during UVR-induced photoaging, suggesting that KIAA1429 represents a potential candidate for targeted therapy to mitigate UVR-driven photoaging. This article is devoted to the event‐triggered practical tracking control for a class of high‐order nonlinear systems with serious uncertainties. Remarkably, the serious uncertainties are greatly reflected from the unknown control directions and input powers which give rise to essential obstacles in control design and hence lead to incapability of the traditional control methods on this topic. To solve the control problem, a novel switching event‐triggered control scheme is proposed by a skillful incorporation of logic‐based switching mechanism into the event‐triggered one. Specifically, two pivotal events are smartly chosen to give the event‐triggered mechanism for the determination of the sampling times. In particular, one of the events is used to give the switching varying mechanism, by which the controller parameters are respectively switched in two groups of sequences which are carefully chosen for the compensation of serious uncertainties. Under the proposed switching event‐triggered mechanism, a state‐feedback controller is designed which guarantees that all the signals of the closed‐loop system are bounded while system output practically tracks the reference signal, along with a finite number of switching of controller parameters as well as the exclusion of the Zeno phenomenon. The spatial arrangement of immune cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME) and their interactions play critical roles in the initiation and development of cancer. Several advanced technologies such as imaging mass cytometry (IMC) providing the immunological landscape of the TME with single-cell resolution. In this study, we develop a new method to quantify the spatial proximity between different cell types based on single-cell spatial data. Using this method on IMC data from 416 lung adenocarcinoma patients, we show that the proximity between different cell types is more correlated with patient prognosis compared to the traditional features such immune cell density and fractions. Consistent with previous reports, our results validate that proximity of T helper (Th) and B cells to cancer cells is associated with survival benefits. More importantly, we discover that the proximity of M2 macrophages to multiple immune cells is associated with poor prognosis. When Th/B cells are stratified into M2-distal and M2-proximal, the abundance of the former but not the latter category of Th/B cells is correlated with enhanced patient survival. Additionally, the abundance of M2-distal and M2-proximal cytotoxic T cells (Tc) is respectively associated with good and poor prognosis. Our results indicate that the prognostic effect of Th, Tc, and B cells in the tumor microenvironment is modulated by the nearby M2 macrophages. The boundary at anode was generally assumed to be impermeable in previous work. However, the horizontal electro-kinetic geosynthetics are typically arranged at intervals, forming a permeable anode that allows pore water in original soil to flow through the gaps, which inevitably affects the consolidation process of electroosmotic layer. A one-dimensional analytical model for the coupled consolidation of original soil and electroosmotic layer is established to study this effect. The rationality of the one-dimensional model is justified by comparing the results of a two-dimensional model. To obtain the analytical solution, new dummy variables are proposed to homogenize the continuity conditions. The analytical solution is derived using the separate variable method and verified by existing analytical solutions and numerical results. Parametric analysis reveals that the consolidation time would be more significantly delayed in the thicker original soil. Both the permeability and compressibility of original soil influence the delayed effect on the consolidation of electroosmotic layer but the latter is more significant. For the equivalent thicknesses of original and electroosmotic layers, the time to reach 90% average degree of consolidation increases up to more than 6 times for the compression coefficient ratio of original and electroosmotic layers being equal to two. As AI agents such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Little Ice begin to demonstrate human-like communication capabilities, they can be seen to respond to people reliably, accurately, and effectively and exhibit similar characteristics to humans in fulfilling their communication responsibilities; accordingly, machine communicative responsibility perception (MCRP) has been developed. Based on mind perception theory, this article explores the intrinsic mechanism underlying MCRP and its implications. MCRP is divided into two categories, i.e., perceived functional communicative responsibility and perceived emotional communicative responsibility, and the MCRP model is validated through the roles of AI advisor and AI partner being played by AI agents. The results show that the perceived functional and emotional communicative responsibility of AI agents significantly and positively influences people's intention to interact with them on an ongoing basis; however, this effect varies across AI roles. For AI advisors, functional communicative responsibility perceptions have a greater impact, whereas for AI partners, emotional communicative responsibility perceptions are more important. Leisure-time physical activity decreases allostatic load, a measure of burden of chronic stress. However, the role of occupational physical activity is unknown. This study examined associations of occupational physical activity and leisure-time physical activity with allostatic load among workers in the U.S. This cross-sectional study included 6,944 U.S. workers aged 20–64 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007–2018). Physical activity was assessed using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. Allostatic load was calculated using biomarkers of cardiovascular, metabolic, and immune systems. Associations of occupational physical activity and leisure-time physical activity with allostatic load were examined using negative binomial regressions. Analyses were conducted between August 2022 and March 2023. Vigorous leisure-time physical activity inversely associated with allostatic load among all workers (count ratio=0.68, 95% CI=0.62, 0.76) and in each sex- and age-stratified group as well as in each race/ethnicity-stratified group. Vigorous occupational physical activity positively associated with allostatic load only among females aged 20–44 years (1.38, 95% CI=1.10, 1.73). Inverse associations of vigorous leisure-time physical activity with allostatic load were similar in young females with high or low vigorous occupational physical activity. Increasing vigorous leisure-time physical activity associates with a lower allostatic load for all workers, whereas increasing vigorous occupational physical activity associates with a higher allostatic load only in young females. A functional female gametophyte is the basis of successful sexual reproduction in flowering plants. During female gametophyte development, the megaspore mother cell (MMC), which differentiates from a single subepidermal somatic cell in the nucellus, undergoes meiosis to produce four megaspores; only the one at the chalazal end, referred to as the functional megaspore (FM), then undergoes three rounds of mitosis and develops into a mature embryo sac. Here, we report that RING1A and RING1B (RING1A/B), two functionally redundant Polycomb proteins in Arabidopsis, are critical for female gametophyte development. Mutations of RING1A/B resulted in defects in the specification of the MMC and the FM, and in the subsequent mitosis of the FM, thereby leading to aborted ovules. Detailed analysis revealed that several genes essential for female gametophyte development were ectopically expressed in the ring1a ring1b mutant, including Argonaute (AGO) family genes and critical transcription factors. Furthermore, RING1A/B bound to some of these genes to promote H2A monoubiquitination (H2Aub). Taken together, our study shows that RING1A/B promote H2Aub modification at key genes for female gametophyte development, suppressing their expression to ensure that the development progresses correctly. With the rapid development of deep neural networks, salient object detection has achieved great success in natural images. However, detecting salient objects from optical remote sensing images still remains a challenging task due to the diversity of object types, scale, shape and orientation variations, as well as cluttered backgrounds. Therefore, it is impractical to directly leverage methods designed for natural images to detect salient objects in optical remote sensing images. In this work, we present an end-to-end deep neural network for salient object detection in optical remote sensing images via global context relation-guided feature aggregation. Since the objects in remote sensing images often have a scattered distribution, we design a global context relation module to capture the global relationships between different spatial positions. In order to effectively integrate low-level appearance features as well as high-level semantic features for enhancing the final performance, we develop a feature aggregation module with the global context relation information as guidance and embed it into the backbone network to refine the deep features in a progressive manner. Instead of using traditional binary cross entropy as a training loss which treats all pixels equally, we design a weighted binary cross entropy to capture local surrounding information of different pixels. Extensive experiments on three public datasets are conducted to validate the efficiency of the proposed network and the results demonstrate that our proposed method consistently outperforms other competitors. Photocatalysis is considered as an environmentally friendly and sustainable method as it can produce active species to degrade pollutants. However, its applications are hindered by the turbidity of pollutants and the requirements for continuous or repeated in situ irradiation. To avoid the need for continuous in situ irradiation in the photocatalytic process, herein we report the doping of Cu(II) ions into zinc gallate (ZnGa 2 O 4) as traps to capture photo-generated electrons. In this way, long lifetime charge release and separation were effectively achieved for the persistent degradation of organic dyes in wastewater. The Cu(II) doped ZnGa 2 O 4 (ZGC) nanoparticles with a small size about 7.7 nm synthesized via a hydrothermal method exhibited a persistent photocatalytic activity with continuous production of reactive oxygen species for at least 96 h without in situ irradiation due to its unique electronic structure and carrier transport path, and enabled to degrade 82.2 % of rhodamine B in 1 h. Further investigation revealed that the doped Cu(II) ions occupied the octahedral sites of ZGC and highly increased the persistent production and availability of active species for the persistent degradation of organic dyes under pre-illuminated conditions. The bonding effects between 3d transition‐metal single sites and supports originate from crystal field stabilization energy (CFSE). The 3d transition‐metal atoms of the spontaneous geometrical distortions, that is the Jahn–Teller effect, can alter CFSE, thereby leading to the Irving–Williams series. However, engineering single‐atom sites (SASs) using the Irving–Williams series as an ideal guideline has not been reported to date. Herein, alkynyl‐linked covalent phenanthroline frameworks (CPFs) with phenanthroline units are developed to anchor the desired 3d single metal ions from d5 to d10 (Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+). The Irving–Williams series was employed to accurately predict the bonding effects between 3d transition‐metal atoms and phenanthroline units. To verify this, theoretical calculations and experimental results reveal that Cu‐SASs/CPFs exhibits higher stability and faster charge‐transfer efficiency, far surpassing other metal‐SASs/CPFs. The bonding effects between 3d transition‐metal single sites and supports originate from crystal field stabilization energy (CFSE). The 3d transition‐metal atoms of the spontaneous geometrical distortions, that is the Jahn–Teller effect, can alter CFSE, thereby leading to the Irving–Williams series. However, engineering single‐atom sites (SASs) using the Irving–Williams series as an ideal guideline has not been reported to date. Herein, alkynyl‐linked covalent phenanthroline frameworks (CPFs) with phenanthroline units are developed to anchor the desired 3d single metal ions from d5 to d10 (Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+). The Irving–Williams series was employed to accurately predict the bonding effects between 3d transition‐metal atoms and phenanthroline units. To verify this, theoretical calculations and experimental results reveal that Cu‐SASs/CPFs exhibits higher stability and faster charge‐transfer efficiency, far surpassing other metal‐SASs/CPFs. Tensor networks are emerging architectures for implementing quantum classification models. The branching multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz (BMERA) is a tensor network known for its enhanced entanglement properties. This paper introduces a hybrid quantum-classical classification model based on BMERA and explores the correlation between circuit layout, expressiveness, and classification accuracy. Additionally, we present an autodifferentiation method for computing the cost function gradient, which serves as a viable option for other hybrid quantum-classical models. Through numerical experiments, we demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of our classification model in tasks such as image recognition and cluster excitation discrimination, offering a novel approach for designing quantum classification models. Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (anti-PD-1 antibody, anti-PD-L1 antibody, and anti-CTLA-4 antibody) have displayed considerable success in the treatment of malignant tumors, the therapeutic effect is still unsatisfactory for a portion of patients. Therefore, it is imperative to develop strategies to enhance the effect of these ICIs. Increasing evidence strongly suggests that the key to this issue is to transform the tumor immune microenvironment from a state of no or low immune infiltration to a state of high immune infiltration and enhance the tumor cell-killing effect of T cells. Therefore, some combination strategies have been proposed and this review appraise a summary of 39 strategies aiming at enhancing the effectiveness of ICIs, which comprise combining 10 clinical approaches and 29 foundational research strategies. Objective Methods Results Conclusion Postmenopausal changes in bone mass and structure compromise the mechanical properties of proximal humerus, predisposing it to low‐energy fractures with complex morphology. The aim of the study is to investigate associations of bone quality and estimated bone strength of the surgical neck with age after menopause.A total of 122 healthy postmenopausal women were recruited from December 2016 to December 2022 and assigned to three groups: the 50–59 years group, the 60–69 years group, and the older than 70 years group. Bone properties of the surgical neck, including volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD), cortical thickness (CTh), the periosteal and medullary size, and estimated indices of bone strength were evaluated by quantitative computed tomography.Compared to the 50–59 years group, postmenopausal women aged over 70 years were characterized by lower cortical thickness (13.9%) and vBMD (6.65%), as well as reduced strength indices including the minimum and maximum section modulus (Zmin 18.11%, Zmax 21.71%), polar section modulus (Zpol 20.21%), and the minimum and maximum second moments of area (Imax 21.01%, Imin 21.43%). Meanwhile, the difference in periosteal diameter and perimeter, total area in three groups did not reach statistical significance. Both cortical thickness and vBMD value were inversely associated with age, showing 10.56% and 23.92% decline. Imax showed the greatest age‐related decrease between age of 54 and 86 years (39.08%), followed by Zmax (−35.77%), Imin (−35.73%), Zpol (−34.90%) and Imin (−23.92%).The strength indices had stronger correlations with cortical thickness than with bone size or density.In postmenopausal women, aging is associated with a significant decline in cortical bone thickness and mechanical strength of the proximal humerus, especially over the age of 70 years. Summary: Studies on asparaginase enzyme activity (AEA) monitoring in Chinese patients receiving PEG‐asparaginase remain limited. We monitored AEA in paediatric patients diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and treated according to the Chinese Children's Cancer Group study protocols, CCCG‐ALL‐2015/CCCG‐ALL‐2020 protocols. We measured the AEA at days 7 ± 1 and 14 ± 1 and analysed their association with patient characteristics and PEG‐asparaginase‐related adverse effects (AEs). We measured 2147 samples from 329 patients. Mean AEA levels (interquartile range) were 931 iu/L (654–1174 iu/L) at day 7 ± 1 and 664 iu/L (463–860 iu/L) at day 14 ± 1. The AEA levels were higher in younger children and increased with the cumulative dose numbers. PEG‐asparaginase inactivation rate was 19.1%, and the silent inactivation (SI) rate was 12.5%. Nine patients were identified with allergic‐like reactions. Hypofibrinogenaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia, pancreatitis and thrombosis were associated with older age, whereas hypoglycaemia was associated with younger age. The risk of hypertriglyceridaemia and hypoglycaemia increased with cumulative dose numbers of PEG‐asparaginase. Except for hypofibrinogenaemia, elevated AEA levels did not increase the risk of PEG‐asparaginase‐related AEs. Drug monitoring can be utilized as guidance for treatment decision‐making. As colleges and universities grapple with uncertainty around current and future enrollment as well as increasingly vocal questions about the value of postsecondary education, it is critically important that institutions ascertain and invest in the elements of campus learning and engagement that add value to the undergraduate experience. This study examines the relationship between cumulative participation in high-impact practices (HIPs) and the perceived importance of postsecondary experience in preparation for adult life using the Educational Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS) dataset. Employing a methodology proposed and tested by Leite et al. Results offered evidence of benefit to participation in two or more HIP experiences with positive and statistically significant differences in the perceived importance of postsecondary education in preparation for adult life across the analytic sample with doubly robust estimation techniques. Interaction effects for female students, students from low SES backgrounds, and students who are members of minoritized racial/ethnic populations were also identified. During electro‐osmotic consolidation, effective voltage attenuation induced by the increasing interface resistance is an important phenomenon, which significantly decreases consolidation effectiveness. This paper presents an analytical model for one‐dimensional electro‐osmotic consolidation in layered soils with horizontal graphite electrodes considering effective voltage attenuation. The mathematical model is characterized by time‐dependent source term and discontinuous interface flux. New variables are introduced to homogenize the discontinuous interface flux and Green's function method is used to solve the new nonhomogeneous governing equations with nonhomogeneous boundaries. Several verification examples are conducted using the existing analytical solution and numerical results. Parametric studies indicate that electro‐osmotic consolidation of layered soils cannot be accurately simulated by equivalent homogeneous soil, whether effective voltage attenuation is considered or not. Furthermore, the backflow phenomenon may occur due to effective voltage attenuation, while it may disappear when the anode is placed in the low‐permeability layer. In addition, the optimal arrangement of electrodes in layered soils is also investigated. When the ratio of the thickness of low‐permeability layer to high‐permeability layer is about 1/3, installing the cathode in the low‐permeability layer can improve the electro‐osmosis effect up to two times, compared with installing the anode in the low‐permeability layer. Determining the source and history of hydrothermal fluids are key to better understanding the genesis of lode gold deposits. However, it is difficult to rigorously constrain the fluid history because the fluids typically have a prolonged and complicated history that may obscure the original source signature. We integrate textural characterization, trace element geochemistry, and in situ oxygen isotope analyses of quartz covering three major paragenetic stages of the world-class Dongping lode gold deposit to fingerprint the ore-fluid source and document the deposit's complex hydrothermal history. Six quartz generations were identified from three paragenetic stages. They consistently display small to large ranges in δ18O values from 13.1 to 0.6‰ (VSMOW), which correspond to calculated δ18O values of 7.4 to –6.0‰ for the quartz-forming fluids. These isotope data are intermediate between the δ18O ranges of magmatic fluids and meteoric water and thus are best interpreted in terms of episodic fluxes of magmatically derived fluids and their subsequent mixing with variable proportions of external meteoric water. Our results highlight the important role of magmatic hydrothermal fluids and their mixing with meteoric water to form the giant Dongping gold deposit. Given the high abundance of quartz that typically spans the entire mineralization process of lode gold deposits, we envisage the versatility and reliability of in situ oxygen isotope analysis of well-characterized quartz in deciphering the origin and complex evolution history of gold-forming fluids. Xinjiang Qitai is constructing a 110-m fully steerable radio telescope (QiTai radio Telescope [QTT]) equipped with a phased array feeds (PAF) receiver, which will install the focal plane operating from 0.7 to 1.8 GHz. In this article, we introduce a PAF receiver model for beamforming, and the numerical model of the internal and external noise for this PAF receiver is provided using electromagnetic field simulation software. The linear constraint minimum variance (LCMV) algorithm is used to simulate the interference mitigation. The interference mitigation rate is from 0.581 to 0.921, and the signal restoration rate is from 0.998 to 1.512 within the error range of an interference arrival angle of 10°. Background: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the AIKNEE system in preoperative planning and intraoperative alignment for total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods: A total of 64 patients were planned preoperatively by the AIKNEE system, including the measurement of mechanical femorotibial angle (mFTA), lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA), and medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA) using three-dimensional reconstructed images. Intraoperatively, the actual prosthesis size and alignment were compared to the planned parameters. Postoperative outcomes, including pain levels, range of motion (ROM), and Knee Scoring System (KSS) scores, were assessed after surgery. Statistical analyses were performed to evaluate the correlation between alignment deviations and postoperative function. Results: The AIKNEE system accurately predicted the prosthesis size in thirty-one of femoral cases (48%) and forty-seven of tibial cases (73%). Deviations of mFTA, LDFA, and MPTA from the target value were within 3° in 88%, 92%, and 95% of cases, respectively. A significant improvement was observed in postoperative pain, ROM, and KSS scores (p < 0.001). Correlation analysis revealed that greater deviations in mFTA and LDFA were associated with increased pain (p = 0.004, 0.047) and lower KSS scores (p = 0.027). Conclusion: The AIKNEE system demonstrated promising results in predicting prosthesis size and achieved alignment within the desired range in a majority of cases. Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) has emerged as a highly promising target for cancer diagnostic imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy. To exploit the therapeutic potential of suitably radiolabeled FAP inhibitors (FAPIs), this study presents the design and synthesis of a series of FAPI dimers to increase tumor uptake and retention. Preclinical evaluation and a pilot clinical PET imaging study were conducted to screen the lead compound with the potential for radionuclide therapy. Methods: Three new FAPI dimers were synthesized by linking two quinoline-based FAPIs with different spacers. The in vitro binding affinity and preclinical small animal PET imaging of the compounds were compared with their monomeric counterparts, FAPI-04 and FAPI-46. The lead compound, [68Ga]Ga -LNC1013, was then evaluated in a pilot clinical PET imaging study involving seven patients with gastrointestinal cancer. Results: The three newly synthesized FAPI homodimers had high binding affinity and specificity in vitro and in vivo. Small animal PET imaging and biodistribution studies showed that [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013 had persistent tumor retention for at least 4 h, also higher uptake than the other two dimers and the monomer counterparts, making it the lead compound to enter clinical investigation. In the pilot clinical PET imaging study, seven patients were enrolled. The effective dose of [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013 was 8.24E-03 mSv/MBq. The human biodistribution of [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013 demonstrated prominent tumor uptake and good tumor-to-background contrast. [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013 PET imaging showed potential in capturing primary and metastatic lesions and outperforming 18F-FDG PET in detecting pancreatic and esophageal cancers. The SUVmax for lesions with [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 decreased over time, whereas [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013 exhibited persistently high tumor uptake from 1 to 4 h post-injection. Conclusion: Dimerization is an effective strategy to produce FAPI derivatives with favorable tumor uptake, long tumor retention, and imaging contrast over its monomeric counterpart. We demonstrated that [68Ga]Ga-LNC1013, the lead compound without any piperazine moiety, had superior diagnostic potential over [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 and 18F-FDG, suggesting the future potential of LNC1013 for radioligand therapy of FAP-positive cancers. In this paper, we present the coupled physics-informed neural networks (CPINNs) for solving the two phase magnetohydrodynamic flows which is governed by Cahn–Hilliard equation and MHD equations. Central to this method is coupling multi-feedforward neural networks to solve variables in parallel. Specifically, CPINNs embed the model into the loss function of the neural networks and train neural networks to obtain the optimal parameters, among which the resulting networks satisfy differential operators, initial and boundary conditions. Based on the idea of small sample learning (SSL), we utilize few sample data during the training process, which can alleviate the calculated costs and avoid grid generation. Additionally, we rigorously demonstrate the existence and convergence of the resulting neural networks. Finally, the theoretical results are verified via several numerical experiments. Perennial trees have a recurring annual cycle of wood formation in response to environmental fluctuations. However, the precise molecular mechanisms that regulate the seasonal formation of wood remain poorly understood. Our prior study indicates that VCM1 and VCM2 play a vital role in regulating the activity of the vascular cambium by controlling the auxin homoeostasis of the cambium zone in Populus. This study indicates that abscisic acid (ABA) affects the expression of VCM1 and VCM2, which display seasonal fluctuations in relation to photoperiod changes. ABA‐responsive transcription factors AREB4 and AREB13, which are predominantly expressed in stem secondary vascular tissue, bind to VCM1 and VCM2 promoters to induce their expression. Seasonal changes in the photoperiod affect the ABA amount, which is linked to auxin‐regulated cambium activity via the functions of VCM1 and VCM2. Thus, the study reveals that AREB4/AREB13‐VCM1/VCM2‐PIN5b acts as a molecular module connecting ABA and auxin signals to control vascular cambium activity in seasonal wood formation. Background: Chronic intake of extra virgin olive oil is beneficial for brain health and protects from age-related cognitive decline and dementia, whose most common clinical manifestation is Alzheimer's disease. Besides the classical pathologic deposits of amyloid beta peptides and phosphorylated tau proteins, another frequent feature of the Alzheimer's brain is neuroinflammation. Objective: In the current study, we assessed the effect that extra virgin olive oil has on neuroinflammation when administered to a mouse model of the disease. Methods: Triple transgenic mice were randomized to receive a diet enriched with extra virgin olive oil or regular diet for 8 weeks. At the end of this treatment period the expression level of several inflammatory biomarkers was assessed in the central nervous system. Results: Among the 79 biomarkers measured, compared with the control group, mice receiving the extra virgin olive oil had a significant reduction in MIP-2, IL-17E, IL-23, and IL-12p70, but an increase in IL-5. To validate these results, specific ELISA kits were used for each of them. Confirmatory results were obtained for MIP-2, IL-17E, IL-23, and IL-12-p70. No significant differences between the two groups were observed for IL-5. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that chronic administration of extra virgin olive oil has a potent anti-neuroinflammatory action in a model of Alzheimer's disease. Summary: A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from the NHANES. Bone mineral density (BMD) was compared in different thyroid-specific autoantibodies groups. Strengths of associations were calculated by using binary logistic regression models. Higher titers of thyroid-specific autoantibodies (TgAb and/or TPOAb) may lead to decreased BMD. Higher prevalence of TgAb and TPOAb significantly associated with fractures in females but not in males. Purpose: Hashimoto's thyroiditis is characterized by elevated thyroid-specific autoantibodies. It is currently believed that osteoporosis is not only a disease with abnormal mineral metabolism but also with immune abnormalities. This study investigated the relationship between thyroid-specific autoantibodies and osteoporosis, including the bone mineral density (BMD) values and fractures. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007–2010). BMD was compared in different thyroid-specific autoantibodies groups. The associations between thyroid-specific autoantibodies and fractures were explored. Strengths of associations were calculated by binary logistic regression models. Candidate variables for binary logistic regression model were selected after screened in univariate analysis (variables with P < 0.05). Results: A total of 3865 study participants were included in this analysis; 224 participants were TgAb positive and 356 were TPOAb positive. A total of 392 participants reported hip, spine or wrist fractures. Participants with higher prevalence of TgAb or TPOAb had lower BMD. In females, significant cigarettes use, higher prevalence of TgAb and TPOAb, and the BMD of the total femur and femoral neck were significantly associated with fractures. Higher prevalence of TPOAb was particularly associated with a higher possibility of hip or spine fractures. In males, significant cigarettes use, 25OHD3, the BMD values of the total femur, femoral neck and total spine were significantly associated with fractures. Conclusion: Higher prevalence of thyroid-specific autoantibodies may lead to decreased BMD. In females, higher prevalence of TgAb and TPOAb significantly associated with fractures and TPOAb especially relating to the fractures of hip and spine. Accumulating scientific evidence highlights the pivotal role of miRNA–disease association research in elucidating disease pathogenesis and developing innovative diagnostics. Consequently, accurately identifying disease-associated miRNAs has emerged as a prominent research topic in bioinformatics. Advances in graph neural networks (GNNs) have catalyzed methodological breakthroughs in this field. However, existing methods are often plagued by data noise and struggle to effectively integrate local and global information, which hinders their predictive performance. To address this, we introduce HGTMDA, an innovative hypergraph learning framework that incorporates random walk with restart-based association masking and an enhanced GCN-Transformer model to infer miRNA–disease associations. HGTMDA starts by constructing multiple homogeneous similarity networks. A novel enhancement of our approach is the introduction of a restart-based random walk association masking strategy. By stochastically masking a subset of association data and integrating it with a GCN enhanced by an attention mechanism, this strategy enables better capture of key information, leading to improved information utilization and reduced impact of noisy data. Next, we build an miRNA–disease heterogeneous hypergraph and adopt an improved GCN-Transformer encoder to effectively solve the effective extraction of local and global information. Lastly, we utilize a combined Dice cross-entropy (DCE) loss function to guide the model training and optimize its performance. To evaluate the performance of HGTMDA, comprehensive comparisons were conducted with state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, in-depth case studies on lung cancer and colorectal cancer were performed. The results demonstrate HGTMDA's outstanding performance across various metrics and its exceptional effectiveness in real-world application scenarios, highlighting the advantages and value of this method. Rainfall can cause seepage erosion of the fine particles in soil (FPS) within the wide grading of particles present in a deposit slope, reducing its strength and eventually leading to a landslide. Unfortunately, there is no effective method for simulating this phenomenon; therefore, using the finite-element method (FEM), the whole process for establishing the slope stability analysis method is described considering the effect of the erosion of FPS, which includes equations of the FPS erosion process, introducing the real seepage parameters obtained by large-scale soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC) tests, and establishing correlations among water content, fine particle content, and slope strength. The findings of the application of this method to a real project reveal that FPS erosion occurs most readily on the first and second levels of a subslope, causing shallow instability of the slope and a reduction in the slope factor of safety (FOS); however, the higher the rainfall intensity, the lower the slope FOS. To realize atmospheric monitoring missions for carbon neutrality, this paper proposes an low earth orbit (LEO)-LEO occultation orbit design and optimization method for the user-specified point target revisit problem. First, by using the linear J2 -perturbed model, a fast numerical calculation method for occultation events was proposed. Then, the revisit conditions of occultation events for a specified point target were expressed as equality and inequality constraints. For different numbers of transmitting and receiving satellites, by analyzing the numbers of the revisit constraints and free variables, the maximum numbers of user-specified revisit point targets were obtained. Finally, the maximum total observation duration for all specified point targets was optimized by the genetic algorithm. In this paper, the effect of random permeability is considered for the real fracture reservoir, hence a stochastic dual-porosity-Navier-Stokes model with random permeability is proposed to simulate shale oil problem based on superhydrophobic material modification. Finite element method and Monte Carlo method are used to deal with discrete physical space and probability space, respectively. The decoupled finite element method with backward-Euler temporal discretization is presented, which allows the coupling problem to be divided into three subproblems in a non-iterative manner. Glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) have been implicated in the self-renewal and treatment resistance of glioblastoma (GBM). Our previous study found that 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one has the potential to inhibit GBM cell proliferation. This current study aims to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the effects of 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one in GBM development. The effect of 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one on GSC formation and differentiation was explored in human GBM cell lines U251 and U87. Subsequently, 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one binding to tetraspanin 1 (TSPAN1) / transmembrane 4 L six family member 1 (TM4SF1) was analyzed by molecular simulation docking. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) and immunofluorescence (IF) were used to assess the interactions between TSPAN1 and TM4SF1 in GSCs. Cell proliferation was detected by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and colony formation assay. To evaluate cell migration, invasion and apoptosis, we employed wound healing assay, transwell and flow cytometry, respectively. Furthermore, subcutaneous xenograft tumor models in nude mice were constructed to evaluate the impact of 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one on GSCs in vivo by examining tumor growth and histological characteristics. 4,5-Dimethoxycanthin-6-one inhibited GSC formation and promoted stem cell differentiation in a concentration-dependent manner. Molecular docking models of 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one with TM4SF1 and TSPAN1 were constructed. Then, the interaction between TSPAN1 and TM4SF1 in GSC was clarified. Moreover, 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one significantly inhibited the expressions of TM4SF1 and TSPAN1 in vitro and in vivo. Overexpression of TSPAN1 partially reversed the inhibitory effects of 4,5-dimethoxycanthin-6-one on GSC formation, proliferation, migration and invasion. 4,5-Dimethoxycanthin-6-one inhibited GBM progression by inhibiting TSPAN1/TM4SF1 axis. 4,5-Dimethoxycanthin-6-one might be a novel and effective drug for the treatment of GBM. NiO/Ga2O3 heterojunction rectifiers were exposed to 1 Mrad fluences of Co-60 γ-rays either with or without reverse biases. While there is a small component of Compton electrons (600 keV), generated via the interaction of 1.17 and 1.33 MeV gamma photons with the semiconductor, which in turn can lead to displacement damage, most of the energy is lost to ionization. The effect of the exposure to radiation is a 1000× reduction in forward current and a 100× increase in reverse current in the rectifiers, which is independent of whether the devices were biased during this step. The on–off ratio is also reduced by almost five orders of magnitude. There is a slight reduction in carrier concentration in the Ga2O3 drift region, with an effective carrier removal rate of <4 cm−1. The changes in electrical characteristics are reversible by application of short forward current pulses during repeated measurement of the current–voltage characteristics at room temperature. There are no permanent total ionizing dose effects present in the rectifiers to 1 Mad fluences, which along with their resistance to displacement damage effects indicate that these devices may be well-suited to harsh terrestrial and space radiation applications if appropriate bias sequences are implemented to reverse the radiation-induced changes. AbstractThe monitoring of process variability is generally achieved by prompt detection of changes in the covariance matrix of multiple correlated quality characteristics. In the literature, there have been many approaches successfully developed for this purpose. Notably, in many chemical processes or some with a special or symmetric structure, involved high-dimensional data are strongly linearly correlated, so that they can be regarded to be determined by a number of low-dimensional latent variables, and hence, have a small intrinsic dimension. In this sense, the observed high-dimensional data have actually a latent structure, formed by latent variables and sensor errors. If such a latent structure can be fully exploited, more efficient monitoring of covariance matrices can be achieved. To this end, this article refines the structure of covariance matrices and develops a series of charting statistics, which are able to efficiently detect shifts in the covariance matrices of latent variables and of sensor errors. Based on the sensitivity analysis of the proposed charting statistics, we provide their choices, as well as a diagnostic scheme to determine the source of shifts. Background: Although rare, paradoxical embolism sometimes occurs with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). This study presents a case of PDA-associated paradoxical embolism with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and pulmonary embolism (PE) following thoracoscopic surgery. Case Presentation: A 65-year-old woman developed acute-onset aphasia and right hemiparesis on the third day following thoracoscopic resection for a right lung tumor. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple infarcts, and lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasound revealed deep vein thrombosis. The patient subsequently developed dyspnea, tachycardia, and hypoxemia. PE was confirmed by percutaneous transfemoral venous selective pulmonary angiography, which meanwhile demonstrated a PDA lesion. The patient, after receiving catheter-directed thrombolysis and inferior vena cava filter placement, improved in both neurological and respiratory status. Conclusion: For an uncommon but potentially fatal case with PDA-induced paradoxical embolism causing AIS and PE, early recognition and treatment are vital. AbstractGreen technology for the fabrication of bio-degradable microspheres is exciting and needed. In this study, a new water-in-water Pickering emulsion green technology is proposed for the fabrication of the crosslinked starch microspheres with sodium tripolyphosphate as the crosslinker, polyethylene glycol aqueous solution as the continuous phase (PEG phase) and starch aqueous solution as the dispersed phase (starch phase). The factors that affect the morphology and particle sizes of cross-linked starch microspheres are investigated by laser scanning confocal microscope (LCM) and laser particle size analyzer. The results reveal that the particle sizes of crosslinked starch microspheres are increasing with increased starch concentration. The particle sizes of crosslinked starch microspheres show a first increase and then decrease trend with the increase of the concentration of PEG 20,000 in the PEG phase. The hydrophobic nano silica is used as an emulsifier to form water-in-water Pickering emulsion and shows an obvious effect on the morphology of starch microspheres. When the starch concentration is 20.00 wt%, PEG 20000 concentration is 32.56 wt%, the ratio of starch to PEG phase is 0.20 and the amount of silica is 5.00 wt% of starch, starch microspheres with regular shapes are obtained with the size of about 32.30 ± 0.22 µm. The fabricated cross-linked starch microspheres are non-crystalline and show good water and oil absorption performances. The application of fabricated crosslinked starch microspheres in the adsorption and release of Vitamin C is conducted. The maximum adsorption capacity of crosslinked starch microspheres for Vitamin C reaches 309.9 mg/g. Starch microspheres show a controlled release of Vitamin C in water. This study indicated that crosslinked starch microspheres can be fabricated through a green water-in-water Pickering emulsion technology and may find potential applications in degradable controlled-release microspheres. AbstractThe aim of this study was to adapt an Arabic version of the Media and Technology Usage and Attitudes Scale (MTUAS) to the Saudi culture and examine the psychometric properties of the adapted version in a sample of 1,709 undergraduate students. Evidence of construct validity and internal consistency reliability was first compiled through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA and CFA) and Cronbach’s α coefficients. Multigroup CFA (MGCFA) was then conducted to test gender-related measurement invariance. The EFA yielded nine factors for the Usage scale and four factors for the Attitudes scale of the MTUAS, all of which were satisfactorily confirmed via CFA. Factors of the MTUAS exhibited adequate to good reliability and were gender invariant. Overall, the Arabic MTUAS displayed good psychometric properties in the Saudi undergraduate student population and was gender unbiased. Therefore, it can be used confidently across educational, public health, and marketing research in Saudi and Arabic contexts. Nevertheless, it is important to note that other psychometric properties, such as criterion-related validity, were not compiled in the present study, and the generalizability of the current findings might be restricted to the Saudi undergraduate student population. Hence, these limitations should be given more consideration in future studies by examining additional psychometric properties of the Arabic MTUAS and using comprehensive national data. A significant percentage of bridges in the United States are serving beyond their 50-year design life, and many of them are in poor condition, making them vulnerable to fatigue cracks that can result in catastrophic failure. However, current fatigue crack inspection practice based on human vision is time-consuming, labor intensive, and prone to error. We present a novel human-centered bridge inspection methodology to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fatigue crack detection by employing advanced technologies including computer vision and augmented reality (AR). In particular, a computer vision-based algorithm is developed to enable near-real-time fatigue crack detection by analyzing structural surface motion in a short video recorded by a moving camera of the AR headset. The approach monitors structural surfaces by tracking feature points and measuring variations in distances between feature point pairs to recognize the motion pattern associated with the crack opening and closing. Measuring distance changes between feature points, as opposed to their displacement changes before this improvement, eliminates the need of camera motion compensation and enables reliable and computationally efficient fatigue crack detection using the nonstationary AR headset. In addition, an AR environment is created and integrated with the computer vision algorithm. The crack detection results are transmitted to the AR headset worn by the bridge inspector, where they are converted into holograms and anchored on the bridge surface in the 3D real-world environment. The AR environment also provides virtual menus to support human-in-the-loop decision-making to determine optimal crack detection parameters. This human-centered approach with improved visualization and human–machine collaboration aids the inspector in making well-informed decisions in the field in a near-real-time fashion. The proposed crack detection method is comprehensively assessed using two laboratory test setups for both in-plane and out-of-plane fatigue cracks.
