The article presents incidents related to the world politics. José Napoleón Duarte's, stunning defeat in the legislative and municipal elections was a long overdue and richly deserved come- uppance for a man who thought that becoming president was more important than maintaining political integrity in El Salvador. For most of the past decade he has been a pathetic hostage of the armed forces, failing to grasp that he might have secured his political future had he found the courage to attempt the reforms on which his populist reputation was based. Another incident refers to the political campaign of Jesse Jackson on television as a U.S. Presidential candidate.
