Abstract

Research is presented that compared the kinetics and power production in 17 men who performed the resistance weight training exercises hang clean (HC), jump shrug (JS), and high pull (HP) at different relative loads. The study found that the JS produced more peak power output (PPO), peak force, and peak velocity (PV) of the lifter plus bar system than the HC and HP did, noting that HP produced more PPO and PV than HC. The optimal 1 RM (1 repetition maximum) HC loads for JS and HP are noted.

Abstract

The article presents the results of a study which investigated the vertical ground reaction forces (VGRFs) during popular bilateral plyometric performances. 14 track and field athletes performed different plyometric exercises. It was found that standing long jump exercises resulted in a higher peak VGRF compared to two consecutive jumps.

The article presents the results of a study which investigated the effects of jump squat exercises on muscles in terms of their capacity for power and forcefulness, maximal strength, muscular hypertrophy, and fiber composition. An overview of related previous research is provided, along with details of the experimental protocol, which included muscle biopsies of human subjects. It was found that jump squats were especially effective for increasing the rate of force development.
