The possibility of using axial spin centers with S = 3 / 2 in silicon carbide for all-optical measurement of the projection B z of the external magnetic field onto the c -axis of the SiC crystal, as well as the polar and azimuthal angles of the magnetic field relative to the direction of the c -axis, at room and significantly higher temperatures is shown. Spin centers in SiC, where optically induced spin alignment occurs, have a unique system of spin levels in a magnetic field, caused by the interaction of the fine structure and hyperfine interaction with the 29 Si nuclei. There is a wide range of level anticrossings (LACs) resulting in an extremely strong change in the photoluminescence intensity at LAC. The dependence of the LAC spectrum on the orientation of the external magnetic field is also observed. The proposed magnetometer is based on the compensation of the external magnetic field at the position of the optical excitation spot of the confocal microscope. The sensitivity to a constant magnetic field for the z-component of the magnetic field (B z) is better than 0.1 μ T / Hz in the confocal volume at room temperature. The sensitivity of polar and azimuthal angle determination depends on the sensitivity of the perpendicular component of the magnetic field, which is better than ∼ 0.01 mT / Hz in the range from − 0.4 to 0.4 mT. In nuclear magnetic resonance, long-lived coherences constitute a class of zero-quantum (ZQ) coherences that have lifetimes that can be longer than the relaxation lifetimes T2 of transverse magnetization. So far, such coherences have been observed in systems with two coupled spins with spin quantum numbers I = 1/2, where a term S 0 T 0 + T 0 S 0 in the density operator corresponds to a coherent superposition between the singlet S 0 and the central triplet T 0 state. Here, we report on the excitation and detection of collective long-lived coherences in AA′MM′XX′ spin systems in molecules containing a chain of at least three methylene (–CH2–) groups. Several variants of excitation by polychromatic spin-lock induced crossing (poly-SLIC) are introduced that can excite a non-uniform distribution of the amplitudes of terms such as S 0 S 0 T 0 S 0 S 0 T 0 , S 0 T 0 S 0 S 0 T 0 S 0 , and T 0 S 0 S 0 T 0 S 0 S 0 . Once the radio frequency fields are switched off, these are not eigenstates, leading to ZQ precession involving all six protons, a process that can be understood as a propagation of spin order along the chain of CH2 groups before the reconversion into observable magnetization by a second poly-SLIC pulse that can be applied to any one or several of the CH2 groups. In the resulting 2D spectra, the ω2 domain shows SQ spectra with the chemical shifts of the CH2 groups irradiated during the reconversion, while the ω1 dimension shows ZQ signals in absorption mode with linewidths on the order of 0.1 Hz that are not affected by the inhomogeneity of the static magnetic field but can be broadened by chemical exchange as occurs in drug screening. New line lists for four isotopologues of nickel monohydride, |$^{58}$| NiH, |$^{60}$| NiH, |$^{62}$| NiH, and |$^{58}$| NiD are presented covering the wavenumber range |$\lt 10000$| cm |$^{-1}$| (⁠|$\lambda \gt 1$| |$\mu$| m), J up to 37.5 for transitions within and between the three lowest lying electronic states, |${X}\, ^{2}\Delta$|⁠ , |${W}\, ^{2}\Pi$|⁠ , and |${V}\, ^{2}\Sigma ^{+}$|⁠. Simple Summary: Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) is a type of blood cancer that can be challenging to treat, especially when it does not respond to standard chemotherapy or relapses after treatment. New therapies, such as CAR-T cells and bispecific antibodies, have shown promise in treating these cases. However, not all patients benefit equally from these treatments, highlighting the need for new ways to predict treatment response. This study focuses on the tumor microenvironment, which includes the immune cells and molecules surrounding the LBCL tumor cells. By understanding how this environment affects CAR-T and bispecific antibody treatment outcomes, this manuscript aims to identify factors that can help predict success or resistance to therapy. These insights could lead to more personalized treatment approaches and improved outcomes for patients with LBCL. T-cell redirecting therapies, which include chimeric antigen receptor T-cells (CAR-Ts) and bispecific antibodies (BSAs), have revolutionized the treatment of relapsed\refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL). Expanding clinical experience with these advanced therapies shows the potential for the optimization of their use with combination or consolidation strategies, which necessitates the prognostic stratification of patients. While traditional clinical prognostic factors identified in the era of chemotherapy are characterized by limited value, the tumor microenvironment (TME) is becoming a new prognostic cluster. We examine how the heterogeneity of LBCL, characterized by variations in tumor parameters and differences in TME immune cell composition, immune checkpoint expression, and cytokine milieu, correlates with both positive responses and resistance to treatment. While classical parameters such as histological subtype, cell of origin, and target antigen expression lack proven prognostic value for T-cell redirecting therapies, the density and functional state of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, tumor-associated macrophages, and immune checkpoint molecules are shown to be critical determinants of therapeutic success, particularly in CAR-T therapy. We identify several gaps in the current knowledge and suggest that the insights gained from CAR-T experience could be instrumental in refining BSA applications. This report also highlights limitations in the current knowledge, as TME data derive from a limited number of registrational trials with varying methodologies, complicating cross-study comparisons and often focusing on immediate response metrics rather than long-term outcomes. High-voltage transmission lines face significant challenges due to environmental exposure, including corona discharge, ice accretion, and corrosion, which impact their durability and operational efficiency. This study investigates the performance of hydrophilic and superhydrophilic organosilane coatings applied to high-voltage wires to address these issues. Using a combination of experimental setups simulating real-world conditions, we evaluated corona discharge losses, ice adhesion, and corrosion resistance on coated and uncoated wires. The results reveal that hydrophilic and superhydrophilic organosilane coatings offer a substantial reduction in corona discharge power losses, with a 25–60% decrease compared to bare wires. Additionally, the proposed hydrophilic coating exhibits ice adhesion characteristics similar to bare wires, in contrast to the higher ice adhesion observed for superhydrophilic samples. Corrosion tests further highlight the performance of the hydrophilic coating, which reduces corrosion currents by approximately threefold compared to bare wires, demonstrating enhanced protection and long-term stability. While superhydrophilic coatings offer some advantages in corona discharge reduction, their increased ice adhesion and higher corrosion rates limit their applicability. The hydrophilic organosilane coating thus emerges as the optimal tradeoff, balancing effective corona discharge mitigation, moderating ice adhesion, and enhancing corrosion resistance, making it a promising solution for improving the performance and longevity of high-voltage transmission lines. Today, composite profiles of constant cross section are widely used in advanced engineering structures. The use of composite profiles in window and door structures can reduce thermal bridging and reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling. This article focuses on the production of new, thermoplastic-based structural pultruded profiles and their application in a PVC (polyvinylchloride) window structure as a reinforcement. The heat transfer model was developed to determine die temperature and pulling speed for pultrusion of the 30 × 20 × 3.5 mm tube and a 31.5 × 25.0 × 3.5 mm channel from tapes. The microscopy results demonstrated full consolidation of all tapes in the material, thus confirming proper selection of pultrusion parameters. The mechanical tests results of the welded angle joint show that the window structure with composite reinforcement can be twice as strong as the steel reinforced one. This was achieved by welding the composite reinforcement simultaneously with welding of the PVC frame on a butt welding machine. The results of the hot box test show that the U-value of the window sash and frame with the composite reinforcement is 12% lower than that of a window with a steel reinforcement. The U-value of the window with composite reinforcement is 1.47 W/(m2·K), and that of the steel reinforced window is 1.55 W/(m2·K). Thus, the windows with composite reinforcement have low thermal transmittance complying with building regulations in various countries, and their use is permitted in northern climatic zones. Ag(0)x–Mn3O4 nanocomposite layers have been obtained under "mild" chemical conditions at room temperature by treating the surface of a solution of a mixture of AgNO3 and Mn(NO3)2 salts with ammonia gas. These layers consist of microglobules with a unique jellyfish-like morphology. The size and shape of these microglobules, as well as the density of their arrangement at the solution–air interface, are determined by the time of treatment with ammonia gas. Their comprehensive study was carried out by FESEM, TEM, HRTEM, SAED, XRD, and EDX methods and Raman and FT-IR spectroscopies. A hypothetical model is proposed to explain the formation of jellyfish-like microglobules. Galaxy clusters are the largest gravitationally bound structures in the Universe and therefore are a powerful tool for studying mass assembly at different epochs. At z > 2, they provide the unique opportunity to place solid constraints not only on the growth of the dark matter halo, but also on the mechanisms of galaxy quenching and morphological transformation when the Universe was younger than 3.3 Gyr. However, the currently available sample of confirmed z > 2 clusters remains very limited. We present the spectroscopic confirmation of the galaxy cluster CARLA J0950+2743 at z = 2.363 ± 0.005 and a new serendipitously discovered cluster, CARLA-Ser J0950+2743 at z = 2.243 ± 0.008, in the same region. We confirm eight star-forming galaxies in the first and five in the second cluster by detecting [OII], [OIII], and Hα emission lines. The analysis of an archival X-ray Chandra dataset that covers the cluster position revealed a counterpart with a total luminosity of L0.5−5keV = 2.9 ± 0.6 × 1045 erg s−1. Because the depth of the X-ray observations is limited, we cannot distinguish the 1D profile of the source from a point spread function model, but our statistical analysis of the 2D profile favors an extended component that might be associated with a thermal contribution from the intracluster medium. If the extended X-ray emission is due to the hot intracluster medium, the total combined dark matter mass for the two clusters would be M200 ≈ 3.0−0.23(stat)+0.20−0.85(sys)+1.13 × 1014 M⊙, assuming a ∼30% contribution from the active galactic nucleus. Our two clusters are therefore interesting targets for studies of the structure growth in the cosmological context. However, future investigation will require deeper high-resolution X-ray and spectroscopic observations to rule out the hypotheses that the emission is entirely due to the active galactic nucleus or that it originates from other contaminating radio galaxies and structures. Apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) sites are endogenous DNA lesions widespread in human cells. Having no nucleobases, they are noncoding and promutagenic. AP site repair is generally initiated through strand incision by AP endonuclease 1 (APE1). Although AP sites' repair in regular B-DNA has been studied extensively, their processing in G-quadruplexes (G4s) has received much less attention. Here, we used the hTERT promoter region that is capable of forming three stacked parallel G4s to understand how AP sites can influence higher-order quadruplex folding and stability and how a G4 affects the efficiency of human APE1-mediated AP site processing. We designed a series of synthetic single- and double-stranded DNA constructs of varying lengths containing a stable AP site analog in both G- and C-rich strands at positions corresponding to somatic driver mutations. Using circular dichroism, we studied the effect of the AP site on hTERT G4 structure and stability. Bio-layer interferometry and gel-based approaches were employed to characterize APE1 binding to the designed DNA substrates and AP site processing. It was shown that (i) an AP site leads to G4 destabilization, which depends on the lesion location in the G4 scaffold; (ii) APE1 binds tightly to hTERT G4 structure but exhibits greatly reduced cleavage activity at AP sites embedded in the quadruplex; and (iii) a clear correlation was revealed between AP site-induced hTERT G4 destabilization and APE1 activity. We can hypothesize that reduced repair of AP sites in the hTERT G4 is one of the reasons for the high mutation rate in this promoter region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION: The choice of treatment strategy in patients with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH)/HPAH/DPAH (Hereditary pulmonary arterial hypertension/ Drug-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension) II-III functional class (FC) (WHO) based on an acute vasoreactive testing result (VRT). Positive VRT (VRT+) is an indication for calcium channel blockers therapy. Long-term vasoresponders demonstrate sustained low-risk status and the highest survival among all PH subtypes. THE STUDY AIMED: To characterize VRT performance in IPAH patients and differences in presentation between patients with positive, negative VRT, and patients with not done VRT due to physicians' decision. METHODS: One hundred and sixty-six adult IPAH patients (44.2 ± 15.3 years, 34 males) comprised into prospective single-center study between 2008 and 2023 years. Inhaled iloprost was used for VRT. Positive VRT was defined with established Sitbon criteria. Standard baseline pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) evaluation including cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) was performed. Risk status was evaluated using ESC/ERS (European Society of Cardiology/European Respiratory Society) risk scale 2015. Survival was assessed with the Kaplan–Mayer method. RESULTS: Eighty-five (51.2%) patients underwent VRT. VRT not done (ND VRT) due to the physicians' decision in 26.7% patients, due to the technical inability in 15.4% and IV FC (WHO) in 16.2% patients. Positive VRT registered in 26 (15.6%) patients. Patients with negative VRT demonstrated worse hemodynamics and exercise tolerance, higher N-terminal pro-brain-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) level, and right heart dilatation compared with VRT+. Patients with ND VRT due to the physicians decision were often older than 60 years, had higher body mass index, symptoms of right heart failure, hemoptysis, arrhythmias, high NT-proBNP, and hemodynamic criteria of high risk in comparison with patients with done VRT. Some CPET parameters were similar between VRT + group and patients ND VRT group. Loss of vasoreactivity and PAH worsening were detected in 50% of VRT + patients in a 1.76 year of follow-up. Patients with vasoreactivity loss exhibited the criteria of intermediate risk at a baseline. Five-year survival was 97% in VRT + group in comparison with 61% in VRT − and 53% in ND VRT group. CONCLUSIONS: Physicians' decision was the most common reason for not doing VRT in IPAH patients. Intermediate high-risk criteria presence at a baseline were associated with not done VRT due to physicians decision, negative VRT, and the vasoreactivity loss during the follow-up. Gregarines from the families Dactylophoridae and Trichorhynchidae parasitize exclusively centipedes and have a distinct morphology among other terrestrial eugregarines, but their evolutionary relationships have not yet been studied with molecular methods. Here we obtain rDNA operon sequences for the dactylophorids and trichorhynchids. We describe a new species Trichorhynchus efeykini sp. n. from a scutigeromorph Thereuopoda longicornis from Vietnam. Phylogenetic analyses with combined SSU, 5.8S and LSU rDNA dataset support the previously proposed separation of Trichorhynchus to the Trichorhynchidae based on morphology and recover the dactylophorids and trichorhynchids as sister groups in a monophyletic clade. This clade appears sister to the clade of the Actinocephaloidea and Stylocephaloidea, and represents a new major lineage of terrestrial gregarines that we designate as a new superfamily Dactylophoroidea. The article presents theoretical and experimental results on ultrasonic cleaning of a vehicle radiator. Criterion relationships between ultrasound energy, kinetic energy of the liquid, and shock wave energy were established, enabling the evaluation of cavitation energy efficiency and cleaning effectiveness. Experimental confirmation was obtained using a developed full-size bench. Using the developed full-size bench, the numerical values of parameters were obtained that made it possible to calculate the values of energies involved in the cavitation process, the ratio of which allows evaluating the effectiveness of washing the radiator from scale. The cavitation coefficient of erosion efficiency was established, proving the effectiveness of ultrasonic cleaning. Information about the structure-property relationship can be useful for the synthesis of compounds with desired properties, analysis of the role of intermolecular interactions in various physicochemical processes and separation of the synthesis product from impurities. In the present work, the influence of the position of the carbonyl group on the saturated vapour pressure and enthalpy of vaporization of ketones was studied. The saturated vapour pressures of isomeric decanones, undecanones and isophorone were measured by the transpiration method. The enthalpies of vaporization of isomeric ketones were determined using various methods: solution calorimetry, transpiration and correlation gas chromatography. The obtained values agree with each other within 1 kJ mol−1. It was shown that 2-alkanones have higher enthalpies of vaporization and lower vapour pressures than 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-alkanones, which can be explained by the stronger intermolecular interactions existing between the molecules of 2-alkanones compared to others isomers. The effective use of polymer carbon dots (PCD) in various fields of science and technology requires a more detailed understanding of the mechanisms of their photoluminescence formation and change as a result of their interaction with the environment. In this study, PCD synthesized via a hydrothermal method from citric acid and ethylenediamine are studied in various solvents using FTIR spectroscopy, optical absorption spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. As a result of the analysis of the obtained dependencies of such PCD spectral characteristics as the photoluminescence FWHM, the photoluminescence quantum yield, the photoluminescence lifetime on the acidity and basicity of the solvent, a hypothesis was formulated on the formation mechanism of hydrogen bonds between the PCD surface groups and the molecules of the environment, and conclusions were made about the donor–acceptor nature of the synthesized PCD. With the increasing need to tackle climate change, energy efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions are proving to be one of society's greatest challenges. Special consideration should be given to heating systems as they are prone to inefficiency due to non-optimal controller configurations and the shortage of experts or qualified technicians to optimize the operating behavior. Especially for residential heating systems, more often than not, the target metric is the achievement of specific heating and hot water temperatures by manual adjustments with limited sensor information and with little regard to efficiency. This presents potential for computer-aided optimization based on artificial intelligence techniques. In this paper, we presented a Decision Integration System that is interfaced with a data acquisition infrastructure and allows for the analysis of measured heating system data, the generation of recommended measures for efficiency improvement, and the simulative validation of recommended controller parameter changes. We presented different parts of the Decision Integration System, the interfaced data acquisition infrastructure, as well as the non-invasive sensor appliances used. We analyzed the measured data of real heating systems and evaluated our approach by generating the recommended measures based on rules created by heating system experts, which were then partially applied to the physical heating systems and partially evaluated in simulation. Finally, we compared long-term energy consumption data against the latest monitoring period after implementing the measures. Our results showed an average reduction in energy consumption of 24.52% across all considered buildings, corresponding to an approximate reduction of 8.12 tons of CO2 emissions. While it typically presents in childhood, distinguishing it from retinoblastoma in young infants can be challenging, especially in cases with asymmetric and advanced manifestations.Case report.A 2-month-old female with microcephaly and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) presented with a left eye intraocular mass involving the entire globe and a flat anterior chamber. MRI showed no calcifications or contrast enhancement typical of retinoblastoma. Intravenous fluorescein angiography showed incomplete vascularization in the contralateral eye with compensatory neovascularization. The left eye was enucleated, and histology demonstrated a dysplastic retina with a retrolental membrane and abnormal vascular proliferations, confirming a diagnosis of FEVR. Genetic testing identified a novel pathogenic CTNNB1 p.Gly635* variant, inherited from the mother in whom it was present at 10–20% mosaicism.Variants in CTNNB1 cause of CTNNB1-neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by microcephaly, IUGR, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and FEVR in 20–40% of cases. Affected children present at an early age and advanced stages of disease. The abrasion testing process of topographically modified surfaces is investigated and their mechanical durability and wear characteristics are presented. The primary aim of the study is to demonstrate that a simple abrasion testing process carries a number of subtle complexities which are crucial for getting comparable results—i.e., sample area, abrasion duration, and presence of a microstructure. All of these factors can significantly alter the results of the testing process and have to be considered during comparison with other durability results. This study also demonstrates how topographically modified aluminum structures tend to restore their hydrophobicity after noticeable mechanical damage due to the natural oxidation process, whereas control samples stay in a hydrophilic state. PD-1 inhibitors have shown unconventional response patterns in classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). These include the phenomenon of pseudoprogression, highlighting the need for specialized response criteria such as the LyRIC, which stringened definitions for disease progression with introduction of indeterminate response category. Despite their potential utility, these provisional criteria are currently underutilized and require further refinement through clinical practice data collection. In this retrospective study LyRIC criteria were systematically used for response assessments in 180 patients with refractory cHL treated with nivolumab. Median follow-up was 60 months. Indeterminate response (IR) was a frequent phenomenon in study population: at 3 months of therapy 63 (35%) patients had an indeterminate response (IR1 7%, IR2 23%, IR3 6%). Among them 18 (29%) achieved an objective response with continued monotherapy. There were no differences in OS or TTNT depending on the type of IR. IR was the best achieved response in 45 (25%) patients. Patients with IR had favorable prognosis with no difference in OS, PFS and TTNT comparing to patients with PR when subsequent therapy was initiated due to disease progression. Patients with IR may achieve prolonged disease control or a deeper response upon continuing treatment. Silicon nitride (Si3N4) photonic integrated circuits (PICs) are of great interest due to their extremely low propagation loss and higher integration capabilities. The number of applications based on the silicon nitride integrated photonics platform continues to grow, including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), light detection and ranging (LiDAR), hybrid neuromorphic and quantum computing. It's potential for CMOS compatibility, as well as advances in heterogeneous integration with silicon‐on‐insulator, indium phosphate, and lithium niobate on insulator platforms, are leading to an advanced hybrid large‐scale PICs. Here, they review key trends in Si3N4 photonic integrated circuit technology and fill an information gap in the field of state‐of‐the‐art devices operating from the visible to the mid‐infrared spectrum. A comprehensive overview of its microfabrication process details (deposition, lithography, etching, etc.) is introduced. Finally, the limitations and challenges of silicon nitride photonics performance are pointed out in an ultra‐wideband, providing routes and prospects for its future scaling and optimization. The aim of this study is to develop molecularly imprinted protein specific to zearalenone (ZEN). The primary idea of our study was to replace the toxic template—ZEN—with a dummy-template—4–hydroxicoumarin—during the synthesis of imprinted proteins (IPs). The choice of the dummy-template was based on the results of comprehensive evaluation that included a combination of blind docking and molecular dynamics simulations. Furthermore, we studied the influence of protonation and purification conditions to IPs sorption capacity. 3D fluorescence spectroscopy was used to monitor the process of bovine serum albumin (BSA) imprinting. The modified purification approach allowed reducing the eluent volume and purification time by approximately 300 and 48 times, respectively. The imprinted BSA was then used to produce a bioinorganic sorbent (IPs–BIS) based on silica nanoparticles (silica NPs), that, as far as we know, was never described before. The synthesized IPs–BIS were successfully applied as ZEN sorbents in model solutions (Q max = 1.70 ± 0.15 mg g - 1 , imprinting factor = 2.5) and artificially contaminated wheat extract (Q max = 2.24 ± 0.02 mg g - 1 ) confirmed by HPLC–UV. Computational optimal transport is used to analyze the difference between pairs of continuous molecular spectra. It is demonstrated that transport distances which are derived from this approach may be a more appropriate measure of the difference between two continuous spectra than more familiar measures of distance under many common circumstances. Associated with the transport distances is the transport map which provides a detailed analysis of the difference between two molecular spectra and is a key component of our study of quantitative differences between two continuous spectra. The use of optimal transport for comparing molecular spectra is developed in detail here with a set of model spectra, so that the discussion is self-contained. The difference between the transport distance and more common definitions of distance is elucidated for some well-chosen examples and it is shown where transport distances may be very useful alternatives to standard definitions of distance. The transport distance between a theoretical and experimental electronic absorption spectrum for SO2 is studied and it is shown how the theoretical spectrum can be modified to fit the experimental spectrum better adjusting the theoretical band origin and the resolution of the theoretical spectrum. Spin wave computing device where an algorithm can be encoded by recording a corresponding magnetization pattern onto a hard magnetic material was previously proposed [K. Rivkin and M. Montemorra, "Spin wave computing using pre-recorded magnetization patterns," J. Appl. Phys. 132, 153902–153911 (2022)] and a particular implementation of a vector-matrix algorithm was demonstrated. In the present article, we analyze the conditions allowing for implementation of complex algorithms which can combine multiple additive, multiplicative, and conditional operators including logic expressions. Special attention is given to how the input data are provided. Rather than relying on a set of independent sources of the RF field, as is common with the existing spin wave computing methods, we demonstrate usability of more simple solutions using adjustable external quasistatic magnetic fields. We also show how, for the given setup, probabilistic switching of magnetic elements at elevated temperatures can be used to convert deterministic algorithms into a probabilistic form. Mutations in protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) are connected to intellectual disability and cancer. It has been hypothesized that these mutations might disrupt the autoinhibition and phosphorylation-induced activation of PP2A. Since they are located far from both the active and substrate binding sites, it is unclear how they exert their effect. We performed allosteric pathway analysis based on molecular dynamics simulations and combined it with biochemical experiments to investigate the autoinhibition of PP2A. In the wild type (WT), the C-arm of the regulatory subunit B56δ obstructs the active and substrate binding sites exerting a dual autoinhibition effect. We find that the disease mutant, E198K, severely weakens the allosteric pathways that stabilize the C-arm in the WT. Instead, the strongest allosteric pathways in E198K take a different route that promotes exposure of the substrate binding site. To facilitate the allosteric pathway analysis, we introduce a path clustering algorithm for lumping pathways into channels. We reveal remarkable similarities between the allosteric channels of E198K and those in phosphorylation-activated WT, suggesting that the autoinhibition can be alleviated through a conserved mechanism. In contrast, we find that another disease mutant, E200K, which is in spatial proximity of E198, does not repartition the allosteric pathways leading to the substrate binding site; however, it may still induce exposure of the active site. This finding agrees with our biochemical data, allowing us to predict the activity of PP2A with the phosphorylated B56δ and provide insight into how disease mutations in spatial proximity alter the enzymatic activity in surprisingly different mechanisms. This article presents an investigation of the real‐time deformation and strain field changes of baked hardening (BH) 220 steel plate resistance spot welds in the lap tensile shear tests via digital image correlation (DIC) technology. 2D DIC analysis can be used to provide a quantitative assessment of the strain competition between the weld nugget and the surrounding metal. The data obtained from the DIC technique indicate that the shear strain is primarily concentrated in the outer metal of the weld, consistent with a nugget pull‐out failure (PF) mode. In contrast, if the welding parameters are inappropriate, for example, if the welding current is 7.2 kA, the welding time is 10 cycles and the electrode pressure is 0.35 MPa, a significant shear strain appears in the nugget of the BH220 weld. This subsequently causes the weld to fail in an unfavorable interface failure mode in the shear test. Calculations show that if the failure mode is nugget pull‐out, the mean failure strength is 13.5 kN, while the value for interface failure is 6.55 kN. Desmin intermediate filaments play a crucial role in stress transmission and mechano-protection. The loss of its integrity triggers myofibril breakdown and muscle atrophy for which desmin phosphorylation (pDes) is a priming factor. We investigated whether eccentric accentuated resistance exercise (RE) influences the regulation of pDes, effecting its susceptibility to cleavage. Ten healthy persons performed 14 RE-sessions (2 per week). Muscle biopsies were collected in both untrained and trained conditions at rest (pre 1, pre 14) and one hour after RE (post 1, post 14). Western blotting and immunohistochemistry were utilized to assess desmin content, phosphorylation at several sites and susceptibility to cleavage. In untrained condition (pre 1, post 1), RE induced dephosphorylation of serin 31 and 60. Trained muscle exhibited more pronounced dephosphorylation at Serin 31 post-RE. Dephosphorylation was accompanied by reduced susceptibility of desmin to cleavage. Additionally, training increased total desmin content, upregulated baseline serine 31 phosphorylation and attenuated pDes at serine 60 and threonine 17. Our findings suggest that acute and repeated RE changes the phosphorylation pattern of desmin and its susceptibility to cleavage, highlighting pDes as an adaptive mechanism in skeletal muscle, contributing to the proteostatic regulation in response to recurring stress. We consider top quark production and decay in the narrow width approximation and study if the polarisation effects, that manifest themselves in correlations of angular distributions of particles from top quark decays and final state jets in the production sub-process, are affected by linear power corrections. We find that, in general, the answer to this question is affirmative. We also discuss how these non-perturbative corrections affect polarisation observables used to study single top production at the LHC. Finally, we point out that generic kinematic distributions of leptons from top quark decays are affected by linear power corrections, which may have implications for proposals to extract the top quark mass from such leptonic observables. On the other hand, we demonstrate that the distribution of the “out-of-collision-plane” component of the positron momentum is free from linear power corrections, making it an interesting candidate for the top quark mass measurement. [Display omitted] Molecular dynamic simulations using QM/MM potentials are performed for the enzyme–substrate complex of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) with the motor protein myosin. Machine learning methods are applied to a dataset consisting of the geometry parameters of the active site in the enzyme–substrate complex to predict the Laplacian of electron density at the bond critical point of the P G –O 3B bond being broken in ATP. Using a gradient boosting machine learning model, a mean absolute error of 0.01 a.u. and an R 2 score of 0.99 are achieved, and it is found that the P G –O 3B bond length is the most important feature, contributing 2/3, while other geometry features contribute 1/3. This article is aimed at understanding of the complex design of metalorganic chemical vapour deposition ‐grown InGaN‐based red light‐emitting diode (LED) structure. The contribution of different elements of red LED structure to the stress distribution and threading dislocation density (TDD) evolution is theoretically investigated. For this purpose a self‐consistent modeling of the structure growth process is used, taking into account stress‐modulated indium incorporation, mismatch stress relaxation by threading dislocations and V‐pits, and nucleation of new threading dislocations. The simulation results, consisting of composition, stress, and TDD profiles, are then utilized for modeling of device operation, which allows to analyze contribution of different elements to the heterostructure operation. In the paper, we consider both finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional optimization problems with inclusion-type and equality-type constraints. We obtain sufficient conditions for the stability in the weak topology of a solution to this problem with respect to small perturbations of the problem parameters. In the finite-dimensional case, conditions for the stability in the strong topology of the solution are obtained for the problem with equality-type constraints. Among others, carbon-based coatings are of extreme interest thanks to the wonderful ability of carbon to form a wide variety of C–C atom bondings that give the unique possibility to tailor the properties of a growing blanket layer. Fullerene C60 ions/molecules of different energy are very powerful tools to obtain carbon-based coatings on various surfaces. Substrate temperature and C60 ion energy play a crucial role in the processes that take place during irradiation. Varying them one can tune the coating structure from amorphous to nanocomposite consisting of an amorphous diamond-like matrix filled with graphite nanoflakes. Carbon atom bonding-type can also be tuned. The friction coefficient and wear resistance of grown nanocomposite carbon coatings are close to the record values. Corrosion tests show that the coating protects the underlying substrate well in both oxidising and reducing atmospheres. The high conductivity of some films makes them suitable for use as proton exchange membrane bipolar plates in fuel cell applications. Autoclave leaching of sulfide concentrates may produce various ferric secondary phases, depending on the arsenic content and temperature. Silver is converted to argentojarosite, from which it is not recoverable by standard cyanidation methods. To increase silver recovery, it is necessary to reduce the argentojarosite formation during autoclave leaching. This study was devoted to the influence of gypsum on the formation of secondary phases of ferric arsenate and the subsequent recovery of gold and silver by cyanidation. The addition of gypsum at a consumption of 0.1 g/g(concentrate) helped to increase silver extraction from 13.4 to 98% at cyanidation. Gold recovery was 99%. An increase in gypsum consumption contributed to the ferric arsenate sulfate formation with an increased sulfate sulfur content, and a decrease in the As/S(sulfate) molar ratio in the cake from 3.7 to 0.88 contributed to an increase in silver extraction at cyanidation of up to 98%. Basic ferric sulfate is not formed in this case, since according to EDS mapping, the distribution of arsenic and sulfur over ferric-containing particles is uniform. According to TCLP, stable, sparingly soluble ferric arsenate phases are formed and the cake obtained after cyanidation is stable and suitable for disposal, since the final arsenic concentration in the solution was 0.45 mg/dm3. We address time-inconsistent decision making by studying two types of intrapersonal cooperation in the Ramsey model with quasi-hyperbolic discounting. First, we consider temporal selves following the Golden Rule principle (do unto others as you would have them do unto you). Second, we consider temporal selves following Kant's categorical imperative (act as you would want all others to act towards all others). We introduce the corresponding cooperative policies and characterize them for economies with respectively log-utility and Cobb–Douglas technology, and isoelastic utility and linear technology. We compare cooperative behavior with non-cooperative (naive and sophisticated) behavior in terms of saving rates, and show that intrapersonal cooperation improves welfare according to all commonly used welfare criteria. A series of imidazothiazoles (ITZs) were conveniently accessed via an improved four‐step protocol in 55%–79% yields. The synthesized ITZs were tested in a combination of a phenotypic sea urchin embryo assay and PC‐3 human adenocarcinoma cytotoxicity studies. Both experimental approaches converged on compounds that showed microtubule targeting activity and cytotoxicity similar to the control compound, combretastatin CA‐4. Specifically, ITZs featuring electron‐donating pharmacophores in position 4, including 4‐Me‐, 4‐OMe‐, 3‐amino‐4‐Me‐, and 3,4‐ethylenedioxy‐substituted benzene ring (6, 7, 28, and 34) exhibited consistent antimitotic antitubulin effect along with the pronounced inhibition of PC‐3 cells growth. These compounds altered cleavage of the sea urchin eggs at 0.002–0.005 µM concentration and displayed cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 0.020–0.47 µM. Notably, the compound ITZ (25) featuring 3,4‐dimethoxybenzene fragment selectively inhibited growth of malignant PC‐3 cells (IC50 = 0.52 µM) while showing no effect on the sea urchin embryo development at up to 4 µM concentration. The sea urchin embryo screen also identified ITZs with systemic toxicity or solubility issues. The assay can be used to prioritize tubulin‐specific molecules for advanced evaluation. The research of this paper was carried out on the low-temperature (100 ± 2 °C) pressure (0.2–0.8 MPa) leaching of pyrite, chalcopyrite and their mixture. According to experiments on chalcopyrite dissolution, increasing the oxygen pressure from 0.2 up to 0.8 MPa had a slight effect on chalcopyrite dissolution. Oxygen pressure and initial sulfuric acid concentration in the range of 10–50 g/L had the greatest positive effect on the pyrite oxidation. The SEM and EDX mappings indicate the chalcopyrite and pyrite surfaces to be passivated by elemental sulfur. The oxidation degree of pyrite in its mixture with chalcopyrite increased significantly from 54.5 up to 80.3% in 0–240 min. The reaction time is relative to the dissolution of the individual mineral, while the dissolution of chalcopyrite remained virtually unchanged. The addition of Cu (II) and Fe (III) ions does not influence pyrite dissolution when chalcopyrite is added in a leaching process, which can be explained by the formation of an electrochemical link between the minerals. The positive effect of chalcopyrite addition is associated with a decreased formation of elemental sulfur on the surface of pyrite. The described method can be used for the hydrometallurgical processing of copper raw materials with increased pyrite content, as well as for the pretreatment of copper concentrates with gold-rich pyrite concentrates to increase the recovery of gold and silver. Polymer-modified fertilizers (PMFs) with prolonged nutrient release present a promising solution to address the challenges associated with conventional fertilization practices, particularly for sensitive crops such as strawberries. This study investigates the effectiveness of biodegradable PMFs in maintaining nutrient availability at optimal levels while minimizing root burn and nutrient losses. In a factorial field experiment, we obtaineda total of 3780 sets of parallel measured time series for soil EC, moisture, and temperature as well as two sets of harvest data to evaluate the impact of varying concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) on the nutrient release rates from complex NPK fertilizer and monoammonium phosphate. Results indicate that polymer modifications significantly slow down nutrient release, leading to optimal salt levels and maximizing yield while remaining low enough to prevent the risk of root burn (EC of soil solution below 1 mS/cm). Consequently, the application of PMFs enhances strawberry yield surplus (on average 2.8 times in the second harvest) by ensuring a steady supply of nutrients throughout the growing season without inducing stress, which reduces the yield by nearly half. Non-invasive assessment of haemoglobin (Hb) level in blood is a hot spot in the point-of-care biomedical diagnostics. Several optical methods are suggested as a solution, some of them being approved for clinical use. Still, there is no consensus on the accuracy of optical techniques, the quality of Hb assessment on different tissue sites, and on the ability of combined use of several optical techniques to improve the quality of Hb level prediction. In this work we examined the capabilities of two optical techniques—diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and RGB-imaging of the skin and fingernails areas—in detecting low blood Hb level. The test sample consisted of 240 adult volunteers with 70 volunteers exhibiting Hb level lower than 120 g/L. We show that using simple descriptors of the diffuse reflectance spectrum of the forearm skin and fingernails is applicable for predicting low blood Hb concentration (ROC-AUC = 0.84 ± 0.08), while RGB-imaging shows similar performance when applied to the fingernail areas (ROC-AUC = 0.83 ± 0.07), which can be considered perspective for clinical use and screening properties. We also report that while the joint use of predictions from two optical methods slightly improves the accuracy of non-invasive Hb level assessment (ROC-AUC = 0.86 ± 0.07), the effect is not as high as one might expect from combining predictions of truly independent modalities, indicating the limit of the accuracy one can expect with multimodal optical approach. Partial separation of a peripheral population may lead to its divergence and, potentially, speciation due to genetic drift followed by selection and geographic isolation. This process may cause taxonomic uncertainty because reproductive isolation in allopatry cannot be verified directly. The two Nearctic allopatric species of magpies (Aves, Corvidae: Pica) serve as a good example of these problems. The Black-billed magpie Pica hudsonia is widely distributed in North America, whereas the Yellow-billed Magpie Pica nuttalli is endemic to a restricted range in California. Their relationships with Palearctic species have been little studied. We obtained complete mitochondrial genomes of both Nearctic magpie species, along with the Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica) and the Oriental Magpie (Pica serica), 20 mitogenomes in total. Phylogenetic analysis reveals a basal position of P. serica , and P. pica as a sister clade to the two Nearctic species. P. hudsonia and P. nuttalli form reciprocal monophyletic subclades, showing recent divergence between and within them. Our data show that the Nearctic magpie lineage diverged from the common ancestor with P. pica , with a single migration wave via the Beringia. Within the Nearctic, we hypothesize a peripatric mode of speciation among Pica taxa due to the divergence and separation of the small marginal population in California below the Sierra-Nevada mountains. Diversifying amino acid substitutions in ND4-ND5-ND6 genes along the branch leading to the New World clade may indicate selection for heat-tolerance. Considering the clear phenotypic differences between P. hudsonia and P. nuttalli , our data, showing their reciprocal monophylies and genetic distinctness, is consistent with the two-species taxonomy. The growing demand for hydrogen–air fuel cells with a proton-exchange membrane has increased interest in the development of scalable technologies for the synthesis of Pt/C catalysts that will allow us to fine-tune the microstructure of such materials. We have developed a new in situ technique for controlling the kinetics of the transformation of a platinum precursor into its nanoparticles and deposited Pt/C catalysts, which might be applicable during the liquid-phase synthesis in concentrated solutions and carbon suspensions. The technique is based on the analysis of changes in the redox potential and the reaction medium coloring during the synthesis. The application of the developed technique under conditions of scaled production has made it possible to obtain Pt/C catalysts with 20% and 40% platinum loading, containing ultra-small metal nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution. The electrochemically active surface area of platinum and the mass activity of synthesized catalysts in the oxygen electroreduction reaction have proved to be significantly higher than those of commonly used commercial analogs. At the same time, despite the small size of nanoparticles, the catalysts' degradation rate turned out to be the same as that of commercial analogs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Their interactions with the photon and gluon fields are governed by the axion electro- and chromodynamics, respectively. A large series of previously unknown isoxazole containing difluoroboron β‐diketonate has been designed and synthesized from the available starting compounds. The photophysical properties of obtained compounds were studied, and the effects of the substituents in aromatic and isoxazole cycles of the BF2 complexes on the fluorescence were investigated. The effect of solvatochromism were demonstrated. Cytotoxic activity against MCF‐7 (breast carcinoma), HCT‐116 (colon carcinoma), A549 (pulmonary carcinoma) and WI38 (fibroblasts from lung tissue) cell lines was tested and moderate toxicity in the concentration range of 10–100 μM was found for several compounds. tRNA-derived fragments function as markers in addition to playing the key role of signalling molecules in a number of disorders. It is known that the repertoire of these molecules differs greatly in different cell types and varies depending on the physiological condition. The aim of our research was to compare the pattern of tRF expression in the main blood cell types and to determine how the composition of these molecules changes during COVID-19-induced cytokine storms. Erythrocytes, monocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, basophils and eosinophils from control donors and patients with severe COVID-19 were obtained by fluorescence sorting. We extracted RNA from FACS-sorted cells and performed NGS of short RNAs. The composition of tRNA-derived fragments was analysed by applying a semi-custom bioinformatic pipeline. In this study, we assessed the length and type distribution of tRFs and reported the 150 most prevalent tRF sequences across all cell types. Additionally, we demonstrated a significant (p < 0.05, fold change >16) change in the pattern of tRFs in erythrocytes (21 downregulated, 12 upregulated), monocytes (53 downregulated, 38 upregulated) and lymphocytes (49 upregulated) in patients with severe COVID-19. Thus, different blood cell types exhibit a significant variety of tRFs and react to the cytokine storm by dramatically changing their differential expression patterns. We study the behavior of static, spherically symmetric solutions to the field equations of scalar–tensor theories (STT) of gravity belonging to the Bergmann–Wagoner–Nordtvedt class, in the presence of an electric and/or magnetic charge. This class of theories includes the Brans–Dicke, Barker and Schwinger STT as well as nonminimally coupled scalar fields with an arbitrary parameter ξ . The study is restricted to canonical (nonphantom) versions of the theories and scalar fields without a self-interaction potential. Only radial (monopole) perturbations are considered as the most likely ones to cause an instability. The static background solutions contain naked singularities, but we formulate the boundary conditions in such a way that would preserve their meaning if a singularity is smoothed, for example, due to quantum gravity effects. These boundary conditions look more physical than those used by other authors. Since the solutions of all STT under study are related by conformal transformations, the stability problem for all of them reduces to the same wave equation, but the boundary conditions for perturbations (and sometimes the boundaries themselves) are different in different STT, which affects the stability results. Simple Summary: Left displaced abomasum is a common disease among Holstein cattle that is causing significant economic losses. The exact causes of the disease are unknown, but it is assumed that LDA is multifactorial in nature. Predisposition to the displacement has been shown to be inherited. We conducted a genome-wide study to identify statistical associations between certain mutations and left displaced abomasum in Holstein cows from several farms in the Leningrad region. We found suggestive statistical associations with this disease and several mutations located in a set of genes involved in a variety of physiological processes. Some of these processes may be directly related to the development of the disease being studied. In addition, we conducted runs of homozygosity analysis and found that cows with displaced abomasum are more likely than healthy cows to carry a specific state of genomic regions containing genes associated with body shape, including width. This may indicate the role of this trait in the development of the disease. Left displaced abomasum (LDA) is a multifactorial disease of cattle that occurs mainly during the transition postpartum period and is characterized by a decrease in milk production and an increased risk of culling. Several studies have been conducted confirming the hereditary nature of predisposition to this disease. The aim of our study is to identify genetic associations characterizing the genomic variability of susceptibility to LDA in Holstein cattle of the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation. The objects of this study were 360 highly productive dairy cows divided into two groups: animals with LDA, and healthy ones (control). Runs of homozygosity analysis revealed one ROH on BTA13 that was found to be significantly more prevalent in the group of animals with LDA than in the healthy group. Fourteen candidate SNPs were found to be nominally associated with left displacement of the abomasum (p-value < 1 × 10−4). When performing functional annotation of genes containing associated polymorphisms or located close to them, candidate genes presumably associated with the development of LDA were identified: ABCB11, SRP72, RGS18, SOX4, GSG1L, FBXL19, and PNPLA4. Here, the demonstration of a carbon nanotube network serves as an example of a system with controllable orientation achieving on‐demand optical properties. Such a network allows programming their optical response depending on the orientation of the constituent carbon nanotubes and leads to the switching of its dielectric tensor from isotropic to anisotropic. Furthermore, it also allows for the achievement of wavelength‐dispersion for their principal optical axes – a recently discovered phenomenon in van der Waals triclinic crystals. The results originate from two unique carbon nanotubes features: uniaxial anisotropy from the well‐defined cylindrical geometry and the intersection interaction among individual carbon nanotubes. The findings demonstrate that shaping the relative orientations of carbon nanotubes or other quasi‐one‐dimensional materials of cylindrical symmetry within a network paves the way to a universal method for the creation of systems with desired optical properties.
