The use of a throwing pole in seated shot put is prevalent across many athletes with varying impairment types in para-athletics and it has been shown to have a large impact on throwing technique. However, the measurement of throwing pole forces in seated shot put has not been reported previously in the research literature, leading to a considerable barrier to a better understanding and optimisation of performance. In this research, the first set of pole force measurements in seated throwing is presented, along with a comparison between two methods for such measurement: a direct load-sensing and a deflection-based method, where the latter requires considerably less specialised equipment than the former. From this, the measurement of pole forces without an instrumented pole is found to be feasible (RMSE < 10%), thus providing a simpler option for the measurement of pole forces in seated throwing. In addition, unexpected resonant pole effects (5–6 Hz) are observed during the throw which may have an interaction with the way athletes apply force to the pole. The last few years have seen a marked increase of interest in the ethics of psychotherapy. As the field of mental health has recently taken on a new level of prominence, renewed commitment to the ethical analysis of psychiatric and psychological treatment is clearly required. In this review essay, we survey recent work on psychotherapy ethics, taking a critical yet generally sympathetic view of the new literature. There are important considerations that remain neglected or overlooked entirely, in our view, and several substantive and methodological trends are in need of diagnosis and critical response. We structure the discussion around several themes, including the inherently moral nature of psychotherapy, the heterogeneity of such practices, the significance of social, cultural, and historical context, and, finally, questions concerning prevailing methodological assumptions. Active transportation (AT) marks an eco-friendly mode of physical activity that is well integrable into daily life. Despite the dominance of social-ecological approaches to explaining AT, previous studies often drew on a fragmented set of variables to describe AT behavior. The concept of physical literacy (PL) comprises physical, affective, and cognitive determinants for physical activity and, therefore, enables a concentrated, theory-guided view on intraindividual determinants for AT. The goal of the present study was to examine empirical associations between PL and modes of AT (considering the influencing and moderating effect of grade and sex/gender, respectively). Within the scope of the DAPL study, data from 663 children (age: 6–13 years) from 41 classes (grades 1–6) across twelve schools in Denmark were analyzed. The school children (mean age: 9.81 years; 55 % girls) completed measurements of PL (Danish version of the CAPL-2: physical, affective, and cognitive component; total score) and self-reported their AT mode for seven days. We calculated general mixed models with the class as a random-effects factor to examine the relationship between PL and six different modes of AT. Total PL as well the physical, cognitive, and affective domains of PL were not associated with overall AT (p > 0.05). However, we found significant associations of total PL (B = 0.35) and the physical domain (B = 0.21) with biking. The affective and cognitive domains of PL did not significantly correlate with any AT indicator. The present effects were not moderated by students' grade and sex/gender. Public health strategies should strive for a mode-tailored approach when targeting children's AT. Person-centered health and physical education must increase their efforts in promoting children's holistic biking skills to effectively foster AT behavior. Yeast is a poikilothermic organism and adapts its lipid composition to the environmental temperature to maintain membrane physical properties. Studies addressing temperature‐dependent adaptation of the lipidome have described changes in the phospholipid composition at the level of sum composition (e.g. PC 32:1) and molecular composition (e.g. PC 16:0_16:1). However, there is little information at the level of positional isomers (e.g. PC 16:0/16:1 versus PC 16:1/16:0). Here, we used collision‐ and ozone‐induced dissociation (CID/OzID) mass spectrometry to investigate homeoviscous adaptation of PC, PE and PS to determine the phospholipid acyl chains at the sn‐1 and sn‐2 position. Background/Objectives: Degenerative joint disease (DJD) of the TMJ can impact patients' quality of life and complicate orthodontic treatment. Stabilizing splints are a common conservative treatment in managing TMDs symptoms, although their long-term effects on condylar morphology are poorly studied. This study aimed to assess the impact of stabilizing splints on condyle morphology using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in patients with various stages of DJD. Forty-two condyles with pre- (T1) and post- (T2) splint therapy scans were analyzed. Methods: CBCT scans were sectioned into sagittal and coronal slices for condyle classification and measurement. T1 and T2 CBCTs were superimposed before linear and area measurements at different poles. Results: Our results indicate that condyles in the normal group remain unchanged after splint therapy. The majority of subjects in the degenerative groups remained in the same classification group: six out of fourteen degenerative-active patients became degenerative-repair, while three out of twenty-two degenerative-repair patients progressed to degenerative-active. There is no significant remodeling of condylar width pre- and post-splint therapy. On average, there is more bone deposition than reduction in condylar height after splint therapy, although individual variation exists. Conclusions: Stabilizing splints offer a low-risk intervention for managing DJD and may contribute to favorable adaptive changes in the condyles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Repetitive negative thinking and intolerance of uncertainty are risk and maintenance factors for emotional disorders. Although emerging evidence suggests that intolerance of uncertainty predicts increases in distress through repetitive negative thinking, these relationships have yet to be investigated among veterans. The present study examines if repetitive negative thinking mediates the relationships of intolerance of uncertainty with stress, disordered symptoms and impairment among a mixed clinical sample of veterans. Two hundred and forty-four treatment-seeking veterans with diagnoses of major depressive disorder, panic disorder, or posttraumatic stress disorder completed measures of intolerance of uncertainty, repetitive negative thinking, stress, impairment, depression, panic, and posttraumatic stress prior to receiving treatment. Mediation models revealed indirect effects of intolerance of uncertainty through repetitive negative thinking on stress and impairment in the full sample, and on disordered symptoms in subsamples with major depressive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. Conversely, intolerance of uncertainty did not have direct or indirect effects on disordered symptoms in a panic disorder subsample. Findings suggest that repetitive negative thinking and intolerance of uncertainty uniquely contribute to stress, impairment, and disordered symptoms, but repetitive negative thinking, may, in part, drive intolerance of uncertainty's contribution to emotional disorders. Interventions for repetitive negative thinking might improve the efficacy of existing transdiagnostic treatment protocols. Cross-sectional data is a limitation of the present study. Objective Given the rapid shift to in-home teleneuropsychology models, more research is needed to investigate the equivalence of non-facilitator models of teleneuropsychology delivery for people with younger onset dementia (YOD). This study aimed to determine whether equivalent performances were observed on neuropsychological measures administered in-person and via teleneuropsychology in a sample of people being investigated for YOD. Method Using a randomized counterbalanced cross-over design, 43 participants (M age = 60.26, SD age = 7.19) with a possible or probable YOD diagnosis completed 14 neuropsychological tests in-person and via teleneuropsychology, with a 2-week interval. Repeated measures t -tests, intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), and Bland Altman analyses were used to investigate equivalence across the administration conditions. Results No statistical differences were found between in-person and teleneuropsychology conditions, except for the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale Anxiety subtest. Small to negligible effect sizes were observed (ranging from.01 to.20). ICC estimates ranged from.71 to.97 across the neuropsychological measures. Bland Altman analyses revealed that the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale—Fourth Edition Block Design subtest had slightly better overall performance in the in-person condition and participants reported higher levels of anxiety symptoms during the teleneuropsychology condition; however, average anxiety symptoms remained within the clinically normal range. Participants reported a high level of acceptability for teleneuropsychology assessments. Conclusions These results suggest that performances are comparable between in-person and teleneuropsychology assessment modalities. Our findings support teleneuropsychology as a feasible alternative to in-person neuropsychological services for people under investigation of YOD, who face significant barriers in accessing timely diagnoses and treatment options. In this paper, I argue that the Aurat March (Urdu: Woman March) in Pakistan has developed from a one-off event to a social movement that operates according to a populist logic as articulated by Ernesto Laclau (2018). I demonstrate how a diverse array of women's demands is linked by a chain of equivalence to create solidarity between disparate communities of women. Here, all protestors define themselves in opposition to a common enemy, the patriarchy, allowing for a wide array of marginalized ethnic, religious and gender identities to be subsumed under the Aurat March banner. The slogan mera jism meri marzi (Urdu: my body, my choice) acts as a signifier that becomes increasingly empty, allowing a variety of demands to be projected upon it. I analyze conservative discourses around the Aurat March to demonstrate how right-wing detractors attempt to fill the empty signifier with morally charged content that disrupts the solidaric bonds holding together the Aurat March coalition. Finally, I explain how Aurat March organizers attempt to restore the openness of their signifier and the solidarity at the heart of their movement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to determine whether patients are more active in communal spaces compared to their bedrooms and explore patient perspectives on communal spaces for activity, rest, and wellbeing. A prospective study observed participants via behavioural mapping in a mixed inpatient rehabilitation unit for up to three days. Physical, social, and cognitive activity levels in communal spaces were compared with activity in bedrooms using independent t-tests. Three focus groups explored participants' perspectives on communal spaces for activity, rest and wellbeing using thematic analysis. Thirty-three participants (age 71.6 ± 13years, 39%male) were observed, and a subset (n = 12) (age 67.3 ± 16.9, 50%male) participated in focus groups. Participants spent a greater proportion of time being physically active (mean difference 22.7%, 95%CI 8.7–36.6, p = 0.002) and socially active (mean difference 23.6%, 95%CI 9.1–38.1, p = 0.002) in communal spaces than bedrooms. No difference in cognitive activity was found. Participants perceived communal spaces to positively influence mood and activity. Reduced independence was a barrier, while visitors, activities, and an inviting design attracted people to communal areas. Communal spaces may positively influence patient activity and mood during inpatient rehabilitation. Future studies should seek strategies to optimise engagement in communal environments. Optimising patient activity throughout the day in inpatient rehabilitation is important to support recovery. Nuclear acquisition is a historically rare event driven by a broad range of factors, of which US nonproliferation policy is only one.[61] Nonetheless, the political benefits that nuclear weapons continue to offer the states that possess them, along with the broader geopolitical dynamics that may increase some states' incentives to acquire nuclear weapons, are likely to ensure that proliferation remains plausible.[62] Our argument suggests that the United States will likely become less central to the choices that states make about whether to seek and acquire nuclear weapons. Second, domestic political consensus within the United States has provided long-term credibility to the deals and commitments the United States makes, allowed policymakers to use the full set of nonproliferation tools in tandem, and ensured that nonproliferation policies endure across administrations of varying political stripes. First, US material power - military, economic, and within the civilian nuclear energy sector - has allowed the United States to shift the incentives of states contemplating a decision to pursue or acquire nuclear weapons, enabled the United States to build an international order that supports nonproliferation goals, and reinforced the US motivation to prevent proliferation. Third, US normative legitimacy has helped the United States achieve nonproliferation successes at lower costs, created an international order that states sought to enter even at the cost of eschewing their ability to acquire nuclear weapons, and allowed the United States to paper over some of the tensions within its portfolio of nonproliferation policies. The successful implementation of telehealth services depends largely on clinician acceptance of telehealth as a viable healthcare option and their adoption of telehealth methods into their clinical practice. While growing research supports the feasibility of telehealth services, no research has evaluated clinicians' experiences during the implementation of a younger onset dementia telehealth service. Semi-structured group interviews were conducted with 7 metropolitan (hub) clinicians and 16 rural (spoke) clinicians during the pre-and post-implementation phases of a novel Younger onset dementia (YOD) telehealth service. Reflexive thematic analysis identified five themes at pre-implementation: clinical need, previous experiences and views, potential telehealth barriers, solutions to potential telehealth barriers, and potential clinical outcomes. At post-implementation, nine themes were identified: clinical need, clinical relationships, concerns about the future of rural healthcare, clinical practice and resourcing factors, patient suitability, difficulties with technology, service quality, the way forward, and the impact of COVID-19. Most clinicians held positive views regarding the service, particularly the ability to provide more options to rural-dwelling patients. However, some concerns about threats to rural healthcare and the validity of telehealth assessments remained. Overall, this study has identified service implementation barriers and facilitators and contributes to the long-term sustainability of current and future telehealth YOD services. Phospholipases have diverse roles in lipid and cell membrane biology. In animal venoms, they can have roles as neurotoxins or myotoxins that disrupt the integrity of cell membranes. In this work, we describe a temperature-controlled, continuous electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) assay for measuring phospholipase A2 activity against liposomes. The enzyme used in this assay was paradoxin, which is a neurotoxic trimeric phospholipase A2 from inland taipan snake venom. Previously developed ESI-MS-based phospholipase assays have been discontinuous and analyzed hydrolysis of single lipid molecules by liquid chromatography ESI-MS. In this work, a continuous assay was developed against liposomes, a more complex substrate that more closely reflects the natural substrate for paradoxin. The assay confirmed the requirement for Ca2+ and allowed measurement of Michaelis–Menten-type parameters. The use of ESI-MS for lipid detection enabled nuanced insights into the effect of changing assay conditions not only on the enzyme but also on the liposome substrate. Changing the metal ion concentrations did not significantly change the liposomes but did affect enzymatic activity. Increasing temperature did not substantially affect the secondary structure of paradoxin but affected liposome size, resulting in increased enzymatic activity consistent with the disruption of the phosphatidylcholine membrane, increasing accessibility of sn-2 ester bonds. Indigenous knowledge systems that uniquely encode environmental knowledge are vanishing globally in tandem with environmental changes and globalization. In this paper we explore knowledge and uses of the palolo polychaete worms (Palola spp.) in time-reckoning, as documented in the anthropological literature on Polynesia and Melanesia. We then introduce preliminary findings from three contemporary cultures, the Raga-, Vureas-, and Netwar-speaking peoples of Vanuatu. Use of the palolo worm as an element in traditional time-reckoning is well-attested in both historical and contemporary literature, and our original research reinforces the notion that it is still a crucial part of ni-Vanuatu ecological calendars. Within the cultures discussed, the annual appearance of the palolo worm is an important temporal event within very complex systems that incorporate plants, animals, agriculture, celestial bodies, the ocean, and human health for the purposes of organizing human activities. These systems, and the place of the palolo worm within them, must be given proper attention in ongoing efforts towards environmental conservation and the documentation and revitalization of traditional knowledge. This study aimed to profile the sublexical, lexical, and text level language skills, and cognitive processes of a sub-group of children with poor reading comprehension known as poor comprehenders. An assessment protocol was developed to assess each of the components from Perfetti and Stafura's Reading Systems Framework. A comprehensive profile was obtained for 17 poor comprehenders in School Years 3–6 (aged 8–11 years), each assessed individually. Consistent with previous research, and irrespective of age, the poor comprehenders in this study did not have difficulty with sublexical and word reading skills overall. Unexpectedly, only two children had difficulty with the lower-level language tasks at the Lexicon and sentence sub-level of the Reading Systems Framework. In contrast, 15 poor comprehenders had difficulty with higher-level comprehension processes. All children had weak verbal working memory, supporting previous research findings. • Boys traveled a higher proportion of trips actively than girls. • Girls expressed less intrinsic motivation and more amotivation than boys. • Behavioral regulations relate differently to travel behavior in boys than in girls. • Integrated and external regulation were associated with higher odds for active travel in girls. • Identified regulation was associated with higher odds for active travel in boys. Active travel (using an active mode of transport such as walking or cycling) contributes to the accumulation of daily physical activity and thus holds potential for promoting health. To promote active travel among adolescents an in-depth understanding of determinants from a sex/gender perspective is needed. Within Self-Determination Theory (SDT), it is proposed that the quality of an individuals' motivation (i.e., the degree to which it is autonomous) determines the extent to which they engage in particular behaviors and perform them effectively. As part of the ARRIVE study, the aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between motivation and active travel in adolescent boys (N = 263, M age = 12.92) and girls (N = 254, M age = 13.21) from a nationwide German sample. Results showed significant group differences between male and female adolescents in the proportion of trips traveled actively, intrinsic motivation and amotivation. Logistic regression analyses demonstrated different relationships of the different types of motivation proposed within SDT on active travel behavior depending on sex/gender. In the total sample, integrated and identified regulation increased the odds of active travel (by 15.8 %, and 20.3 % respectively), whereas amotivation decreased the odds by 23.0 %. Intrinsic motivation and controlled forms of extrinsic motivation (i.e. introjected and external regulation) did not significantly change the odds of active travel. Separate sex/gender-specific analyses were conducted. For boys, only identified regulation significantly increased the odds of active travel (by 40.2 %) and amotivation significantly decreased the odds (by 18.8 %). In girls, integrated (by 25.3 %) and external (by 20.3 %) regulation significantly increased the odds of active travel, while amotivation (26.6 %) significantly decreased the odds. We conclude that disparities exist in the relationship among different regulation types with active travel behavior between adolescent boys and girls, and that findings contradictory to SDT might result from the specific context of traveling to a destination. Considering the regression analyses findings, future interventions to promote active travel among adolescents should incorporate sex/gender-sensitive development, because some behavioral regulations might not be equally effective among girls and boys. The Ottawa Ankle Rule and Canadian C-Spine Rule were created to guide the utility of radiographic studies. There are no guidelines to guide X-rays within trauma. Our objective was to evaluate which findings have the highest yield for determining fractures on skeletal x-ray. A retrospective study was performed on 5050 patients at a level one trauma center from January 2018 through October 2019. 2382 patients received X-Rays. Our analysis focused on five categories: limb deformity/obvious open fracture, abrasions, hematoma/contusion/sprain, laceration, and skin tear. Standard demographic and outcome variables were collected. While the cost burden on an overwhelmed system, time in the trauma bay prior to disposition and radiation exposure has not been fully evaluated, our evidence shows that X-Rays ordered for soft tissue defects are less sensitive at identifying fracture (0.0-6.9% fracture detection rate, P = 0.00) than when ordered for limb deformity or obvious fracture. This experimental study investigates the performance and wake of tandem wind turbines utilising co-rotating and counter-rotating rotor configurations. Measurements for turbine power, tip-speed ratio, and wake velocity were obtained across various arrangements of single and tandem turbines. Conducted at a Reynolds number of 9. 6 × 1 0 4 based on turbine diameter, the study evaluates in-line configurations with separation distances from 1.25 D T to 8 D T , D T being the turbine diameter, and different tip-speed ratios. Power measurements indicate that the downstream turbine performs better when its rotational direction opposes that of the upstream turbine, showing a 20% increase in performance compared to the co-rotating arrangement at a separation distance of 1. 25 D T . Nevertheless, the results show the tandem wind turbines' power generation depends on the spacing between the turbines and the upstream turbine's optimal tip-speed ratio. This indicates that as the distance between the turbines increases, the advantageous impacts of a counter-rotating setup diminish. Velocity measurements behind the downwind turbine reveal negligible effects on the streamwise velocity due to relative rotational directions but a significant impact on turbulent kinetic energy. Specifically, the co-rotating arrangement exhibits 33% higher turbulence levels than the counter-rotating arrangement. These findings hold considerable implications for designing and optimising wind turbine systems in arrays, both onshore and offshore wind farms. • Counter-rotating tandem turbines show up to a 20% power enhancement at close distances (at 1.25 turbine diameters), though benefits decrease with greater separation. • Counter-rotating setups exhibit lower turbulent kinetic energy and more symmetrical wakes compared to co-rotating arrangements, suggesting potential downstream performance benefits under specific conditions. • Despite relative rotation, both co-rotating and counter-rotating configurations exhibit consistent streamwise velocity patterns. • In contrast, notable differences in azimuthal velocity distributions were observed between corotating and counter-rotating arrangements. Poor comprehenders are a significant subgroup of poor readers who, due to their ability to read aloud accurately, are often difficult to identify. This study aimed to determine whether assessment using two oral language tasks, mapped onto the two components of the Simple View of Reading, would provide an efficient approach to identification. Children (N = 218) from School Years 3 to 6 (ages 7; 8–12; 1) attending two schools in Australia were assessed, and 45 identified as potential poor comprehenders, based on a profile of average phonological awareness but poor listening comprehension. Subsequent assessment of decoding and text reading comprehension confirmed 24 of these children to be poor comprehenders, consistent with reported prevalence rates. Five of these children were judged to be weak readers by their classroom teacher. The oral tasks alone overidentified this group; however, the findings suggest that using the tasks as an initial phase, followed up with a reading assessment, could be effective in identifying poor comprehenders, and reduce time spent in testing as this would only involve at-risk children. Proteins associated with the spindle apparatus, a cytoskeletal structure that ensures the proper segregation of chromosomes during cell division, experienced an unusual number of amino acid substitutions in modern humans after the split from the ancestors of Neandertals and Denisovans. Here, we analyze the history of these substitutions and show that some of the genes in which they occur may have been targets of positive selection. We also find that the two changes in the kinetochore scaffold 1 (KNL1) protein, previously believed to be specific to modern humans, were present in some Neandertals. We show that the KNL1 gene of these Neandertals shared a common ancestor with present-day Africans about 200,000 years ago due to gene flow from the ancestors (or relatives) of modern humans into Neandertals. Subsequently, some non-Africans inherited this modern human-like gene variant from Neandertals, but none inherited the ancestral gene variants. These results add to the growing evidence of early contacts between modern humans and archaic groups in Eurasia and illustrate the intricate relationships among these groups. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A series of measurements taken with two instrumented track bicycles in a velodrome are presented. The bicycle wheel speed, cadence, roll angle, steering angle, power, and airspeed are recorded. The experimentally-measured values are compared to existing theoretical models of roll and steering angles. The accuracy of the roll angle calculations is dependent on the fidelity of the modelled cyclist path and decreases for higher riding speeds. Experimental measurements of the steering angle show a reasonable agreement to theoretical calculations, albeit with reduced steering angles on the bends at higher speeds. There is also seen an increasing steering angle oscillation within each pedal cycle with increasing bicycle velocity which may influence a cyclist's rolling resistance and the aerodynamic flow around the bicycle's front end. Observations are made of changes in the flow field ahead of the bicycle due to the presence of other riders on the track, showing an effective tailwind of up to 0.7 m/s. The measured power shows a decrease at the bend entry due to the changing roll angle. Data presented in this paper provides new insights and can help to provide a validation of values used in existing track cycling analytic models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As human-dominated landscapes have expanded, the diversity of organic matter (OM) sources to rivers has increased, and knowledge of the composition and quality of these sources is lacking. It is important to characterize novel forms of OM that can affect retention, transport, and transformation of OM within watersheds. We collected fine particulate OM (FPOM) and dissolved OM (DOM) in four watersheds of Northeast Utah with a mixture of urban, forest, and agricultural land cover. We used the natural abundance of 13C, 15N, and 2H isotopes in mixing models to quantify the proportion of terrestrial, autochthonous, and anthropogenic OM. We also used spectroscopic properties of DOM to characterize OM composition. Percent land cover within a watershed did not account for the anthropogenic influence of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) or grazing and recreation activities. OM was primarily derived from terrestrial sources, except at sites influenced by wastewater, and autochthonous sources at sites influenced by grazing and recreation activities. Sites influenced by WWTPs had more homogenous DOM that was consistently composed of 35% protein-like DOM, while all other sites had greater variability in DOM composition. Further study is needed to understand landscape drivers of DOM composition in watersheds with WWTPs, and such studies should incorporate samples directly from of WWTP effluent. These benefits often depend on whether a partner responds with enthusiasm; however, it is unknown what prompts enthusiastic responses. In two experiments, we aimed to examine whether partners reciprocate enthusiastic responses to capitalization attempts. In Study 1, participants (N = 394) who recalled their partner's past enthusiastic feedback to capitalization attempts endorsed stronger intentions to respond enthusiastically to their partner's capitalization attempts (relative to a comparison group recalling their partner's prior demeaning feedback). In Study 2 (N = 326), we found that enthusiastic responses to capitalization attempts were reciprocated among romantic couples but reciprocation was not mediated by subjective emotion, emotional expressiveness, nor physiological responses. In conclusion, our findings support reciprocity in capitalization, i.e. romantic partners are more motivated and more likely to respond enthusiastically to capitalization attempts depending on their partner's previous behavior. In contrast to the large body of research investigating intervention for poor decoding skills, far fewer studies have evaluated interventions for reading comprehension. There is even less research on children with more specific difficulties with reading comprehension, often referred to as "poor comprehenders". Levels of effectiveness have varied for interventions targeting lower- and higher-level language, including inference making, on trained measures, with little transfer to generalised reading comprehension measures in both skilled and less-skilled readers. Outcomes have been more positive for poor comprehenders, however findings have been inconsistent as to which programme components have led to gains in reading comprehension. This pilot study utilised a case series design to explore whether a novel intervention targeting oral inference making and comprehension monitoring was effective in improving the targeted skills and reading comprehension of 11 children, aged 9;2–12;3 years, with average-for-age phonological and lower-level language skills but weak inferencing. All participants improved on the primary inference subtest post-intervention and continued to score higher at maintenance than at pre-intervention. Results on the remaining higher-level language tasks were more varied, as were the results for reading comprehension, with fewer participants demonstrating generalisation to these tasks, particularly the nonfiction texts. While the results are preliminary and descriptive, they suggest that improvements can be made in higher-level language in a 10-session intervention, and provide directions for future research. By confining a low-scattering ceramic phosphor conversion region within a high-scattering alumina substrate, we fabricated high-luminance laser-activated remote phosphor (LARP) with excellent thermal dissipation for white light generation. A dichroic mirror coating on the pump side recycles both luminescence and re-scattered pump light to improve efficacy. As a result, we demonstrated a transmissive LARP converter that achieves 600 lumens with 4.3 W of the blue pump power at an ambient temperature of 25 °C. Due to the strong cavity effect of the highly scattering substrate, a corresponding peak luminance of greater than 700 Cd/mm2 was observed. At 80 °C ambient, the converter can still achieve greater than 500 lumens and peak luminance exceeding 500 Cd/mm2. Simulations based on the optical diffusion approximation are generally in good agreement with data, although they overpredict luminous flux, suggesting the dichroic coating was not optimal and further performance improvements may be achievable. This work outlines the creation of a model of a velodrome datum line constructed from two straights, two circular-arc bends, and four transition curves. Different transition curve options are outlined and contrasted with a model with no transition curves. The influence of velodrome geometry on the wheel speed, wheel acceleration, roll angle, roll rate, and power demand of a theoretical cyclist is presented. The results display similar wheel speeds and roll angles for different transition curves, with larger differences when compared to the no-transition-curve option. Greater differences are observed in the acceleration and roll rate, for which calculations are only possible when using a transition curve. Comparisons of the model with theodolite measurements of two velodromes show a mean minimum root mean square error of 0.0398 m. This article presents a brief retrospective on the Haken–Kelso–Bunz (HKB) model of certain dynamical properties of human movement. Though unanticipated, HKB introduced, and demonstrated the power of, a new vocabulary for understanding behavior, cognition and the brain, revealed through a visually compelling mathematical picture that accommodated highly reproducible experimental facts and predicted new ones. HKB stands as a harbinger of paradigm change in several scientific fields, the effects of which are still being felt. Today, there are two well-established versions of intermediate review: standard intermediate review, used for cases like gender discrimination or contentneutral regulations of speech in a public forum, and a heightened intermediate review standard used for content-based, subject-matter regulations of commercial speech under Central Hudson. Yet, in actual use, four other kinds of intermediate review tests have been formulated by the Court in some cases. These four should be viewed as "mutations" of the two kinds of intermediate review proper to apply. This Article discusses both the well-established versions of intermediate review, and the four variations on intermediate review applied by the Court. This Article ultimately argues that the four mutated kinds of intermediate review should be rejected--the first three of these mutated anomalies should adopt standard intermediate review, and the fourth should adopt the established heightened intermediate review of Central Hudson. Evidence is emerging that telehealth provides timely and cost-effective support for individuals with motor neurone disease (MND). However, little is known about the subjective experience of using telehealth. This study was designed to examine the experiences of using telemonitoring in patients with MND on noninvasive ventilation (NIV). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven patients (five males; mean age = 63 yrs; median illness duration = 14 m), who used a telemonitoring device for 24 weeks. Caregivers were present at five of the interviews; they supported communications and provided their feedback. Interviews were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim. Thematic analysis was conducted to find overarching themes. Five themes were identified: Benefits of Timely Intervention, Reducing the Unnecessary, Increased Self-Awareness, Taking Initiative, and Technical Challenges. Overall, timely interventions were observed as a result of regular monitoring, contributing to both physical and psychological well-being of the participants. The patient-caregiver dyads suggested that telemonitoring could reduce costs, save time and ameliorate hassles associated with attending hospital appointments. Participants articulated that telemonitoring enabled symptom awareness and interpretation; the device also enabled the participants to raise concerns and/or requests to the healthcare professionals via the messaging system. Participants confirmed that the telemonitoring device was easy to use, despite some technical issues. Telemonitoring was positively experienced. The findings suggest this approach is empowering and effective in promoting patients' well-being, while potentially reducing unnecessary clinical contact. Care for people with MND demands a flexible approach to accommodate the diversity of clinical needs and relentless physical deterioration. Telehealth allows clinicians to provide person-centred care for everyone with MND through frequent monitoring. Holistic and rehabilitative service facilitated by telehealth is generally acceptable and preferred to routine appointments among MND NIV patients. Telehealth promotes time efficient engagement with professionals that leads to symptom awareness and interpretation, while benefiting physical and psychological well-being of MND NIV patients. Judgments about the self compared to internalized standards are central to theoretical frameworks of social anxiety. Yet, empirical research on social comparisons-how people view themselves relative to others-and social anxiety is sparse. This research program examines the nature of everyday social comparisons in the context of social anxiety across 2 experience-sampling studies containing 8,396 unique entries from 273 adults. Hypotheses and analyses were preregistered with the Open Science Foundation (OSF) prior to data analysis. Study 1 was a 3-week daily diary study with undergraduates, and Study 2 was a 2-week ecological momentary assessment (EMA) study with a clinical sample of adults diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (SAD) and a psychologically healthy comparison group. In both studies, social anxiety was associated with less favorable, more unstable social comparisons. In both studies, favorable social comparisons were associated with higher positive affect and lower negative affect and social anxiety. In both studies, social comparisons and momentary affect/social anxiety were more strongly linked in people with elevated trait social anxiety/SAD compared to less socially anxious participants. Participants in Study 2-even those with SAD-made more favorable social comparisons when they were with other people than when alone. Taken together, results suggest that social anxiety is associated with unfavorable, unstable self-views that are linked to compromised well-being. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) impacts not only the child with ASD, but also the entire family system, including siblings. The present study examined perceptions of the sibling relationship in brothers and sisters of children with ASD, as well as how understanding of autism (symptoms, long-term implications of the disorder) in siblings of children with ASD is related to the sibling's perceptions of quality of the sibling relationship. Siblings (N = 44, Mean Age = 10.4 years, SD = 2.6) of children with ASD were administered an interview assessing their understanding of ASD and self-report questionnaires measuring their perception of the sibling relationship quality. The more siblings understood about ASD, the more hostility they reported by their sibling with ASD. Age of the sibling, conversely, was negatively associated with both hostile and warm behavior by the brother or sister with ASD towards the sibling. More understanding of autism may be associated with more contention within the sibling relationship, whereas older siblings may spend less time with their brother or sister with autism. Results have implications for improving sibling relationship quality, as well as elucidating the complexity of sibling relationships. These findings have further implications for the development of support systems with use of coping skills for improving the quality of the sibling relationship. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: To assess the transmissibility of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in households with children and to assess whether asthma is a risk factor for infection. METHODS: Over a 6-month period from May 2020 to February 2021, in 1394 households with children with asthma and allergic diseases (including 1978 caregivers, among whom 439 had a diagnosis of asthma, and 2164 children, among whom 711 had a diagnosis of asthma), every other week nasal swabs were obtained for polymerase chain reaction testing for SARS-CoV-2. Weekly surveys were completed regarding infection symptoms and, if present, additional PCR testing was done of all household members. RESULTS: Of participants, 261 in 147 households tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The positivity rate was higher for illness-triggered tests (6.3%) than for the surveillance tests (0.97%). The household infection probability was 25.8%. The individual probability of infection was 14.0%, and was similar between children, teens, and adults. Infections were symptomatic in 24.5% of children, 41.2% of teenagers, and 62.5% of adults. Asthma was not associated with infection risk (adjusted hazard ratio = 1.04 [95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.73-1.46]). The household secondary attack rate was 57.7%. Exposure to a symptomatic household member was associated with an 87.39-fold increase in infection risk (95% CI = 58.02-131.63), whereas exposure to an asymp-tomatically infected household member was associated with a 27.80-fold increase in risk (95% CI = 17.16-45.03). Background: Phenylketonuria (PKU) is an autosomal recessive inherited disorder characterised by a deficiency in phenylalanine hydroxylase. Untreated, PKU is associated with a wide range of cognitive and psychiatric sequelae. Contemporary management guidelines recommend lifetime dietary control of phenylalanine (Phe) levels, however many individuals who discontinue dietary control subsequently suffer symptoms of anxiety, depression and disturbances to cognition. We undertook a prospective cohort study of patients with early-treated phenylketonuria who had ceased dietary control to test the hypothesis that resumption of dietary control of PKU is associated with improvements in measures of psychiatric morbidity and cognitive functioning.Methods: We re-initiated dietary control for early-treated patients with PKU and monitored cognitive and psychiatric outcomes over a twelve-month period. Assessments included objective cognitive function (measured by cognitive proficiency index (CPI)), anxiety and depression scales. General linear mixed model (GLMM) analyses were performed to assess change in psychometric variables from baseline over twelve months after resumption of dietary control.Results: A total of nine patients were recruited. Mean age was 33 years (SD = 8.75), five were female. Mean time off dietary control was 19.1 years (SD = 11.3), and mean baseline phenylalanine (Phe) levels were 1108 µmol/L (SD = 293). GLMM analysis demonstrated a positive relationship between CPI and time on diet (b = 0.56 [95% CI = 0.17, 0.95]). Age, time off diet, Phe levels and depression scores were not associated with cognitive function. There was a negative relationship between time on diet and anxiety (b = - 0.88 95% CI = [- 1.26, - 0.50]) and depression ratings (b = - 0.61, 95% CI = [- 0.95, - 0.26]).Conclusions: This study demonstrated improvements in cognitive function, anxiety, and depression ratings associated with resumption of dietary control of PKU. Raw Phe levels were not strongly associated with psychiatric or cognitive scores in this cohort. Among Australian females, sexual assault affects 1 in 5 Australian women [1], and 1 in 10 girls [2]. While it is well known that females who experience sexual assault have an increased risk of future pelvic pain, there is limited knowledge regarding the occurrence of other gynaecological morbidity. We performed systematic review and meta-analysis for the relationship between sexual assault and gynaecological morbidity. We searched online electronic databases for observational studies on the subject published between 1993 and 2018. Search terms included variants of 'sexual abuse', 'sexual assault' and a range of gynaecological morbidity. Two independent reviewers completed study selection, quality assessment and data extraction. For each gynaecological symptom we calculated common odds ratios and 95 % confidence intervals in relation to sexual abuse history. Our search identified 1846 studies, of which 38 studies were included. A history of sexual assault was significantly associated with overall gynaecological morbidity (RR 1.42; 95%CI, 1.27-1.59), pelvic pain (RR 1.60; 95%CI, 1.36-1.89), 'dyspareunia' (pooled RR 1.74, 95%CI, 1.50-2.02); 'dysmenorrhea' (pooled RR 1.20; 95%CI, 1.11-1.29); 'abnormal menstrual bleeding' (pooled RR 1.29; 95%CI, 1.12-1.49)) and 'urinary incontinence' (pooled RR 1.31; 95%CI, 1.12-1.53)), while association was not statistically significant for 'vaginismus'(pooled RR 1.71; 95%CI, 0.87-3.36) and 'vulvodynia' (pooled RR 1.49; 95%CI, 0.76-2.91). There was no relation with 'prolapse' (pooled RR 1.10; 95%CI, 0.53-2.30). Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is the largest pool of organic matter in aquatic ecosystems and is a primary substrate for microbial respiration in streams. However, understanding the controls on DOM processing by microbes remains limited, and DOM decay rates remain largely unconstrained. Many DOM decay rates are quantified with bioassays in dark bottles, which may underestimate DOM decay in streams because these bioassays do not include a benthic zone and do not account for abiotic factors of DOM loss, such as photodegradation and volatilization. We measured decay of labile and semi-labile DOM over 3 d in experimental streams and bottle bioassays. Incubations included 3 types of labile DOM (algal, light-degraded soil, and light-degraded plant leachates) and 2 types of semi-labile DOM (plant and soil leachates). We also quantified decay rates when labile and semi-labile DOM were mixed to test for non-additive effects, or priming, of semi-labile DOM by labile DOM. We converted dissolved organic carbon (DOC) decay rates to half-lives and uptake velocities and compared these metrics to previous studies that quantified DOC loss in bioassays or real streams. Percent DOC lost over time, or biodegradable DOC, was greater in experimental streams than in bioassays. DOC decay rates and uptake velocities did not differ between bioassays and experimental streams but were lower than in real streams. Mixing of labile and semi-labile DOM resulted in both positive and negative non-additive effects. Consistent non-additive effects were difficult to quantify because decay rates were not constant over the course of each incubation, as shown by faster decay rates calculated over the first 6 h of incubation compared to >70 h. Decay rates of leachates from natural substrates (e.g., algae and soil) incubated over short periods of time (hours–days) are needed for models that aim to quantify organic matter transformation in aquatic ecosystems with short residence times, such as rivers and streams. Water quality and river connectivity influence fisheries, but their role is not understood in wild crayfish harvest, or how water quality and river connectivity are incorporated into crayfish harvest strategies. In Louisiana, wild harvesting practices were evaluated with field observations and interviews with individual harvesters. Field observations included trap locations, water quality, water stable isotopes (2016) and habitat components over two seasons (2015 and 2016). Traps were set in less turbid water (NTU < 69.4), in depths from 1 to 3 m or 3 to 3.6 m and in locations associated with river water inputs. Harvester interviews indicated the importance of tradition (35%‐47% respondents), depth (88% respondents) and water colour (>40% respondents; a surrogate for turbidity and connectivity) in harvesting initiation and trap locations. • Pairs of 10 Hz oscillations from homologous left and right cortices show a small frequency separation. • This frequency dissociation may help homologous cortices avoid obligatory synchronization. • Prior theory related frequency separation with metastable brain dynamics, increased connectional flexibility. Using high resolution spectral methods to uncover neuromarkers of social, cognitive and behavioral function, we have found that hemi-lateralized pairs of oscillations such as left and right occipital alpha or left and right rolandic mu dissociate spectrally. That is, they show a shifted frequency distribution, with one member of the pair peaking at a slightly lower frequency than the other. Resorting to the analysis of EEG spatio-spectral patterns, we provide examples of dissociations in the 10Hz frequency band. Occasionally, hemi-lateralized pairs blend into medial aggregates, probably when functional interactions lead to strongly coherent dynamics through frequency-locking or metastability. Our observations support the hypothesis that homologous pairs of neuromarkers have characteristically distinct intrinsic frequencies and coordinate their oscillations into synchronous ensembles only transiently. This property could play a role in the balance of integration and segregation in the brain: spectral separation of the oscillations from homologous cortical areas allows them to function independently under certain circumstances, all the while preserving a potential for stronger interactions supported by structural and functional symmetries. Spectral dissociation (and its methodological corollary: spectral analysis with high frequency resolution) may be harnessed to better track the individual power of each member of a hemi-lateralized pair and their respective time-course, leading to enhanced internal validity and reproducibility of research on neural oscillations. Resulting insights may shed light on the functional interaction between homologous cortices in studies of attention (alpha), e.g. during perceptual and social interaction tasks, and in studies of somatomotor processing (mu), e.g. in bimanual coordination and neuroprosthetics. The binding interactions of a series of square-planar platinum(II)–phenanthroline complexes of the type [Pt(PL)(AL)]2+ [where PL = variously methyl-substituted 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and AL = ethane-1,2-diamine (en)] were assessed with a G-quadruplex DNA (5′-TTG GGG GT-3′, G4DNA) and a double-stranded DNA (5′-CGC GAA TTC GCG-3′, dsDNA) sequence by ESI–MS. The results indicate a strong correlation between G4DNA affinity and increasing phenanthroline methyl substitution. Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and molecular docking studies also support the finding that increased substitution of the phenanthroline ligand increased selectivity for G4DNA. Extreme climate events, such as drought, are becoming increasingly important drivers of plant community change, yet little is known about their impacts on invasive plants. Further, drought impacts may be altered by other anthropogenic stressors, such as eutrophication. We found drought dramatically reduced density of invasive Lepidium latifolium in salt marshes, and this die‐back was mitigated by nutrient addition. In a 3‐yr field experiment (2014–2016) conducted during an unprecedented drought (2012–2015), we tracked the effects of drought and nutrient addition on the plant community. We conducted this research at four salt marshes across a salinity gradient in the San Francisco Bay, California, USA. We manipulated paired native and invaded plots, one‐half of which were treated monthly with N and P for 1.5 yr during the most intense period of the drought and one subsequent wet winter. In addition, we monitored unmanipulated L. latifolium‐invaded transects within our freshest and most saline sites throughout the three years of our manipulative experiment and one additional wet winter. We documented a dramatic die‐back of invasive L. latifolium during extreme drought, with reductions in stem density (52–100%) and height (17–47%) that were more severe at low salinity sites than high salinity sites. We found nutrient application lessened the effect of drought on L. latifolium stem density, but not height. In native plots, extreme drought reduced native plant cover (4–24%), but nutrient addition mitigated this impact. Interestingly, native plants in invaded plots did not suffer reductions in cover due to drought, perhaps because they were simultaneously benefiting from the die‐back of the invader. Our results show drought negatively impacted both native and invasive plants and this impact was stronger on the invader, which experienced persistent declines two years after the end of the drought. However, by mitigating the effect of drought on invasive plants, nutrient addition potentially erased the advantage drought provided native plants over invasive plants under ambient nutrient conditions. The aim of the Scottish AHP LifeCurve™ survey was to gather a snapshot of where people are on their LifeCurve™ when receiving allied health professions (AHP) services and to understand the cost consequence of intervening 'late' in the ageing trajectory. The objectives were to promote discussion around preventing functional decline, support innovation in service delivery, and facilitate broader engagement with individuals, communities, and wider environments for improving health and well-being in later life. In addition, subsequent learning could help address the increasing resource gap between the demand and capacity across health and social care. The survey was paper-based in the form of a printed booklet, which contained the 15 activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental ADL (IADL) which comprise the LifeCurve™ with additional lifestyle questions and information about the member of staff and service the participant was seen in, including their Community Health Index (CHI) number. The survey questions and booklet layout were tested over a five-month period with AHPs and people receiving AHP services. Liaison with national health literacy colleagues and lead speech and language therapists ensured that the survey material was accessible to a wide range of people. In addition, the survey could be made available in alternative formats, on request. Agreement to undertake the national survey was obtained in November 2016 by all AHP directors and associate directors who appointed communication support leads in their area who would support implementation at all stages at a local level. All materials relating to the survey were published on a dedicated area of a community of practice to support awareness and training during the preimplementation phase. AHPs working in adult services were asked to complete a survey with a minimum of two people they would 'typically' see in their service during a two-week period in May 2017, with the exclusion of people who were too unwell to participate, children and young people under 16 years, and adults with incapacity and without a guardianship arrangement in place. Approval was gained from the Public Benefit Privacy Panel to link the survey data to participants' health service usage using their CHI number. Completed forms were returned to the University of Strathclyde for entry into an encrypted electronic database using a double data entry process and were allocated a unique identifier. The unique identifier and CHI numbers were sent to Information Services Division (ISD), and then, the CHI numbers were deleted from the encrypted database. ISD sent the linked health data to the Scottish Government Analytical Services Division, which thus produced a full encrypted and anonymised database. The data explain what stages on the LifeCurve™ AHPs are intervening, and the matched data provide associated healthcare costs at each stage. Due to poor or missing data in the AHP/Service section, only 60% (n = 8261) of the total completed surveys were able to be matched with health service usage records. These data show that whilst AHPs are seeing people at each of the 15 ADL/IADL stages on the LifeCurve™, interventions fell into three groups where 25% of people where seen at the 'precurve' stage, 13% of people at 'mid-curve' (stage number five), and 39% of people at 'late-curve' (stages 10 to 13). The healthcare cost usage of these participants increased the further along the LifeCurve™ a person moves, with an average annual cost of £2700 at 'precurve' rising to £12,330 at 'late-curve' in 2016–2017. The results indicate that different services and professions are represented at each of these three points. So, for example, as might be expected, outpatient (especially musculoskeletal) services were seen more often at the 'precurve' stage, and in-patient and community rehabilitation, services were seen more often at the 'late-curve' stages; diagnostic radiographers and orthoptists saw people at the 'early-curve' stages, dieticians and podiatrists saw people at the 'mid-curve' stage, whilst physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists saw people at the 'late-curve' stages. Data analysis showed this pattern is different for people receiving mental health services and, so, their data were removed and will be analysed and reported separately. It is clear from the results that healthcare costs increased as participants moved down LifeCurve™ stages, that is, as their levels of functional decline increase. It is also clear that AHPs are intervening late in a person's functional decline with associated limitations on changing their ageing trajectory. The cost consequence of this is significant – moving someone from 'late- to mid-curve' could save £3200 per person per annum. However, those AHPs typically associated with reabling approaches and rehabilitation, which have greatest potential to change ageing trajectories, were not represented at the 'mid-curve' stage (e.g., physiotherapists, occupational therapists). Simple Summary: Studies regarding insect biodiversity often require large samples, which are not always easy to obtain since preparing and cleaning the debris from samples takes much time. Insects are usually acquired using sweep netting methods, but these yield a great amount of additional material to sort. With the purpose of lightening this task, we designed a low-cost photocollector device powered by an LED light source for attracting insects. Timed trials were conducted in the grasslands of the Canadian prairies to determine its efficiency in sorting live insects from debris. For this purpose, two group of insects were considered: bees and flies. We noticed that various species of bees and flies moved at different speeds. This would mean our photocollector can serve as an effective tool to accelerate insect collection based on their speed, thereby contributing to the study of insect diversity. Arthropod biodiversity research usually requires large sample collections. The efficient handling of these samples has always been a critical bottleneck. Sweep netting along transects is an effective and commonly used approach to sample diverse insects. However, sweep netting requires the time-consuming task of sorting insects from the large amounts of debris and foliage that end up in the sweep net along with the insects. To address this, we introduce a robust, portable, and inexpensive photocollector device with an LED light source to extract insects from sweep net samples in a standardized way. Timed field trials tested the photocollector's efficiency in extracting live insect samples from debris, focusing on Hymenoptera and Diptera. We found that 73% (±13%) of undamaged specimens moved toward the collection bottle within the first hour and 79% (±13%) after four hours. Of the insects failing to move after four hours, most (81%) were damaged and likely unable to move. Accounting only for undamaged specimens, 83% (±11%) moved after 1 h and 90% (±11%) moved after 4 h. We found significant differences in when families of Hymenoptera and Diptera moved. We suggest that the photocollector can be a useful tool in standardized biodiversity assessments. Cognitive economics uses cognitive science to understand economic decision-making. We review research streams that conceptualize both minds and markets as complex adaptive systems. Narrative theories of decision-making examine the cognitive and social representations and processes that govern decision-making under uncertainty. Agent-based cognitive models study how cognitive mechanisms at the individual level can contribute to emergent systems-level phenomena. Post-cognitivist approaches such as the Market Mind Hypothesis consider minds and markets to be one continuous complex system. Coordination Dynamics is one useful framework for analyzing this system. Cognitive economics is an emerging interdisciplinary field that uses the tools of cognitive science to study economic and social decision-making. Although most strains of cognitive economics share commitments to bridging levels of analysis (cognitive, behavioral, and systems) and embracing interdisciplinary approaches, we review a newer strand of cognitive economic thinking with a further commitment: conceptualizing minds and markets each as complex adaptive systems. We describe three ongoing research programs that strive toward these goals: (i) studying narratives as a cognitive and social representation used to guide decision-making; (ii) building cognitively informed agent-based models; and (iii) understanding markets as an extended mind – the Market Mind Hypothesis – analyzed using the concepts, methods, and tools of Coordination Dynamics. Wind tunnel experiments were performed to study the influence of tip speed ratio, TSR or λ , on the spatial evolution of mean velocity, turbulence intensity, energy spectrum and integral length scale in the wake of a small-scale horizontal axis wind turbine model. Three TSR conditions, λ = 5. 6 , λ = 6. 5 and λ = 8. 5 were tested and measured at various streamwise locations from 1 to 11 rotor diameters (D) from the rotor plane using constant temperature hotwire anemometry. Findings from the experiments show that the magnitudes of the velocity and turbulence within the wake, along with the uniformity of their distributions, are influenced by the TSR due to the increased interaction of the rotor wake and the nacelle-tower wake. Furthermore, the turbine operated at λ = 8. 5 has the overall lowest streamwise velocity deficit and the lowest maximum turbulence intensity in the far wake compared with the lower TSR cases. The increased turbulence within the near wake has likely promoted more mixing leading to a faster wake recovery. The energy spectra at the hub and tip regions show distinct peaks matching the rotor frequencies corresponding to the passing of blade root and tip vortices. Observations show that root vortices break down sooner than the tip vortices and that they break down closer to the rotor plane as the TSR is increased. It was also observed that there is an amplification of large-scale motions S t ≥ 1 at tip height as the TSR increased to λ = 8. 5. In contrast, there was an amplification of small-scale motions S t ≤ 1 when the TSR was decreased to λ = 5. 6. Energy signatures at the tip height of all TSR cases collapse in the far wake; however, the same was not observed for the energy signatures at hub height. Finally, large-scale motions in the order of a quarter of the rotor diameter were found in the far wake x / D > 7 originating outside the vicinity of the turbine tips for all TSR cases. The downstream location of the initiation of these large-scale motions depends on the TSR, where a higher TSR leads to initiation closer to the rotor. • High-frequency wake measurements using constant-temperature hotwire anemometry. • Operating at high tip speed ratio may improve wake velocity recovery in the far wake. • Blade tip vortices break down closer to the rotor with an increasing tip speed ratio. We describe an experimental approach to the determination of the nascent internal state distribution of gas-phase products of a gas–liquid interfacial reaction. The system chosen for study is O([sup 3]P) atoms with the surface of liquid deuterated squalane, a partially branched long-chain saturated hydrocarbon, C[sub 30]D[sub 62]. The nascent OD products are detected by laser-induced fluorescence. Both OD (v[sup ′]=0) and (v[sup ′]=1) were observed in significant yield. The rotational distributions in both vibrational levels are essentially the same, and are characteristic of a Boltzmann distribution at a temperature close to that of the liquid surface. This contrasts with the distributions in the corresponding homogeneous gas-phase reactions. We propose a preliminary interpretation in terms of a dominant trapping-desorption mechanism, in which the OD molecules are retained at the surface sufficiently long to cause rotational equilibration but not complete vibrational relaxation. The significant yield of vibrationally excited OD also suggests that the surface is not composed entirely of –CD[sub 3] endgroups, but that secondary and/or tertiary units along the backbone are exposed. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. Objective: People living with younger onset neurocognitive disorders (YOND) experience significant delays in receiving an accurate diagnosis. Although neuropsychological assessment can help assist in a timely diagnosis of YOND, several barriers limit the accessibility of these services. Utilising teleneuropsychology may assist with the service access gap. This study aimed to investigate whether similar results were found on neuropsychological tests administered using videoconference and in person in a sample of people living with YOND. Participants and Methods: Participants with a diagnosis of YOND were recruited from the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Neuropsychiatry inpatient ward and outpatient clinic, and through community advertising. A randomised counterbalanced cross-over design was used where participants completed 14 tests, across two administration sessions: one in person and one using videoconference. There was a two-week interim between the administration sessions. The videoconference sessions were set up across two laptops using the Healthdirect Video Call platform and Q-Global. Repeated measures t-tests, intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and Bland-Altman plots were calculated to compare results across the test administration sessions. Results: Thirty participants (Mage = 60.23, SD = 7.05) completed both sessions. Huntington's disease was the most common YOND diagnosis (n = 8), followed by Alzheimer's disease (n = 6), mild cognitive impairment (n = 6) and frontotemporal dementia (n = 4). Preliminary results from the current study indicate no statistically significant differences, and small effect sizes, between the in-person or videoconference sessions. ICC estimates range from.69 to.97 across neuropsychological tests. Conclusions: This study provides preliminary evidence that performances are comparable between in-person and videoconferencemediated assessments for most neuropsychological tasks evaluated in people living with YOND. Should further research confirm these preliminary results, findings will support the provision of teleneuropsychology to address the current service gaps experienced by people with YOND.
