Six new dinuclear complexes of molybdenum(V) have been prepared by the reaction of [Mo2O3(acac)4] (acac = acetylacetonate ion) with the polydentate ligands,
β′ -hydroxy-β-enaminones. The complexes are coordinated by two enaminone ligands via two donor oxygen atoms as in the analogous β-diketonates. The octahedral coordinations around the molybdenum atoms are completed by the monodentate solvent molecules D (methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol). The complexes of the general formulae [Mo2O4L2(ROH)2]· 2ROH (complex 1b) and [Mo2O4L2(ROH)2]· ROH (complex 2a) were easily losing solvated alcohol molecules. All complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and some of them by one- and two-dimensional NMR spectra (in case 1a) and by X-ray crystallography (1a, 1b and 2a).
