The article focuses on a novel method which deals with the issue of surface waves that affect land seismic data especially in the Middle East and North Africa. It highlights the development of a flexible approach for adaptive ground roll attenuation (AGORA) that attenuates surface waves and adapts to changing noise characteristics. It also notes that effective noise attenuation enables the use of wider angles leading to more accurate velocity analysis and more focused stacks.
